NASCAR announced last week that if a caution flies within 10 laps of a stage break, that will now mark the end of the stage. How will this impact the racing? Carson Hocevar, Ryan Blaney & Tyler Reddick weigh in.

NASCAR has a new rule change that can really shake up some strategy. You'll hear from the drivers and we'll explain what that rule is coming up next. For PRN's Garage Pass, this is Andrew Kerler.

NASCAR announced last week that if a caution comes out within 10 laps of a stage ending, that will now mark the end of the stage. Rather than trying to re-rack the cars for a one or two lap shootout, the green checkered flag will fly early. Now this is all an effort to speed up the races. Here's what Carson Hosevar thinks about the new procedure.

Yeah, and hopefully just allows for mistakes on the box that makes better racing. I feel like mistakes from either the box or the race car tends to um you know kind of always make the racing better.

So here's what Ryan Blaney thinks. Thumbs up. I think it's it's good that they did that. You know, I personally, you know, sitting behind the wheel of the thing with if a caution does come out, you know, four or five laps before the stage is over, and you know you're not going to restart it, ride around there for double the time, and that's that's no fun for anybody. That's no fun for anybody watching. It's not fun for us either, sitting around there cruising around for extra laps and taking time up. So I think that's uh it's a good deal that they did. Um I think that's progress on that side and try to limit the the time of caution, you know, time of yellow and things like that, and get back to on track action sooner.

If you go to your optimal number or run long in a in a in a stage and you're coming on tires and you have that caution with, you know, 10 laps to go, it'll, you know, it'll make going optimal a lot worse. So I I just hope I my biggest concern, I guess, if I had one in it, is does it hurt some of the strategy play that that happens um like the intermediate tracks? What does it do to the strategy that that that shapes who's at the front for stage three?
