SPEAKER_01

Hello, everybody. Welcome to Full Strength Podcast. Thank you for joining us. Episode 11 is here. We have made it this far. We are now into double digits. It's exciting. Welcome to the first episode in spring. So we have reached the first day of spring, and it is our first episode. New season, everybody. We made it through winter. Sad for me. I hate spring. I want that to be well known. That uh I am not a fan of spring, man. I don't like it. It's muddy, rainy, and polleny. I hate pollen. So anyway. But uh no, I know it's coming where I'm at. So anyway, great. Uh what a week, what a week for NC2A basketball. Oh my gosh, some really exciting games. But anyway, let's get started. Steve, how was your week, man?

SPEAKER_05

Uh, it's been, as you were talking, pollen, man. I live in North Carolina. This place gets ridiculous. I know you guys are spurling right now.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, you can see it gets hazy outside because there's so much pollen in the air. That's crazy. Yeah, that's I'm just like wanting to sneeze, just thinking about it, man.

SPEAKER_05

We go to the lake, and around the edge of the lake, it's just a yellow, two yellow lines all the way around the lake from the line.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, for sure. I've seen that. That's it's crazy. It's crazy. Well, I'm glad you made it back. Hopefully, you're not sneezing or you know, itchy eyes or anything, but uh anyway, right on, man. Uh, Nick Brown. How was your week, man? Are you excited? Are you ready for opening day?

SPEAKER_04

Uh I'm ready for opening day. My week was good. Uh, weekend was good. Uh had a my son turned seven. Happy birthday. Thank you. Thank you. I'll tell him. Um I oh, talking uh about the stuff the stuff was bringing up how the sled hockey USA team USA won their what fifth in a row? So I got to I went back and watched that on Peacock. Um, so that was fun to watch that game. And boom, my son watched a couple of the like a period and a half of it with me. He was like, what are they doing? I'm like, this is another another way to play hockey if you know if the need arises.

SPEAKER_01

Honestly, it's kind of it's it's e it's it looks hard. I I just see myself getting out there and like falling over. Like I can skate really. I like I was a great skater. It was one of the things that made me a good hockey player, and it but it's like I look at that thing and I'm like, are you like, no way, no way. So how's the new job, man? Good. New job's good, man.

SPEAKER_04

It's dirty. Um, fix I'm fixing engines. I love it. It's I tear things apart, put things back together. It's like Legos for adults.

SPEAKER_01

I know, dude. Listen, hey, I've always said this like machinists, mechanics. You really think about all the components and what they do, and I know it's not a human life, but they really are like doctors and surgeons. You know what I mean? Like the amount of stuff that you have to know, the systems, you know, everything. It's it's really interesting. It's like you have the engine, the engine has so many components, and it's like you look at like the human heart, you know what I mean? It's like you have your pacemakers, you've got your electrical pathways, you've got you know, nodal cells and electrophysiology, all this stuff that goes into it, and you have to know so much. Obviously, it's a heart, a little bit more difficult. That's why they uh you know make what they pay a little bit better. I'm just saying it's it really is impressive what they can do. So, right on, it's a lot of fun stuff. Loving it. Yeah, right on, dude. Uh, the stuff. What kind of stuff did you get into this week, buddy? How was your week?

SPEAKER_03

Uh, how was my week? Man, I'll I'll answer that with a question. Is there any other worse consumer experience in the world than trying to buy a new vehicle?

SPEAKER_01

Um anything worse than that. No, I mean any of this.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I buy a house before I buy it. It's easier to buy a house than just buy a car.

SPEAKER_01

You know what? You're probably yeah, you're right. I it I know, buddy. How how is that going? For those that don't know, uh Brandon's Nissan is taking a a kaput. Yeah. So my man needs a new car.

SPEAKER_03

Uh still working on it. Still gonna be another week or so. I got everything in order.

SPEAKER_01

Looking at a forerunner, right?

SPEAKER_03

Uh RAV 4, Toyota. A RAF, oh a RAV 4. Yeah, nice.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, we've had one of those before. They're beautiful cars.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you got good longevity to them.

SPEAKER_01

I think you should get a truck. I think everybody should get a truck, though. I mean, it's like, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I don't need a truck, I have nothing to use it for.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, but as soon as you buy a truck, you make friends that are moving in a month, and so then you're that's what always works out for your new friends.

SPEAKER_01

I can't I tell them I'm sorry, I can't. I got a fifth wheel hitched in the back of mine, so I apologize. That is um they don't help somebody else move. They don't know that I can take it out in like literally two minutes. So, oh shit, they do now. No, I'm just that was a joke. Anyway, yeah, man. I I know you're going through that. I like I said, I told you, um, yeah, man. Look like down in the southeast part of the country, like it's it's insane what the difference is, man, between the two. So anyway, yeah, yeah. Well, good luck. We are here for you.

SPEAKER_03

Moral support, but on the plus side, while out at a dealership, I got to experience my first ever full-on Karen. Oh man, is it crazy actually seeing it happen in real life? In person?

SPEAKER_01

We gotta hear about this now before we get into this. You know, we need story time.

SPEAKER_03

All I know is uh she has some issue where she didn't have uh she was trying to buy a vehicle, but she didn't have like an email address, and she didn't have a phone number. And she's like she starts off like talking in circles about how she's just this like church going person, she's a good person, all she needs to do is uh figure out how to get an email address, and nobody's helping her. She's gone to four different people, she's just doing this in a circle over and over, not allowing anybody else to talk, and then all of a sudden, fall on here comes all the F-bombs, even though she's a perfectly good church person, like she said. And it's just like everybody's just standing around like what is going on, and especially like we man, we just need to you're being belligerent, you're probably she's just then she takes it up to 11 from there, and they finally get her out of the place. Oh my god. You can't you don't even know what to do, you just sit there and watch it.

SPEAKER_01

You can't I I'm I would probably have a smile on my face. Listen, I there is nothing better than getting to see, you know, it's like they're funny videos online all the time, but getting to see it in person, it's like that's why I still like to go Christmas shopping at a mall. Like Buffalo has the great, it's great, the galleria mall, man. It is oh, dude, it's it's like an old school mall, and it's still thriving. Thousands of people in there every day, and so it's like it is awesome. So you go during Christmas time, oh buddy. It's awesome. I don't go to malls during Christmas time. Steve, you are missing out on the greatest. I'm happy to miss out on that. It's like you I don't have a lot of patience, but boy do I have patience during that time of year because I am very patient and know that I'm gonna see something awesome. My social meter goes to zero.

SPEAKER_03

I back him up on that. I go Black Christmas, black where Black Friday shopping for to the customers just to see what they do.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, yes. So, anyway, all right. Well, let's get into it. Um, we're gonna open up the world baseball classic, everybody. I want to give Team USA a round of applause. I loved the entrance that they came in with in that championship game, but here's what we gotta do is Venice Wela, bro. Like Venice Wela, like the way they won this, they knock off the the defending champs, get Otani on the last the last out, then they go again underdogs against Team USA, and and they and they beat him. I mean, big ups to team USA again. Great performance, boys. We love you. You represented the country so well, it was awesome. Bryce Harper, like with that unreal two-run bomb, and then they just USA back, and Venezuela just holds their composure, bang, gets it back, game over, and they and they ended up and they hold USA in the bottom of the ninth. It's just I just wanted to say it's like Venezuela, man. Congratulations! They deserved it. Awesome performance, Steve. What do you got, man?

SPEAKER_05

No, it was a great performance. I can did uh Bryce tie it up, or were they still down by one when he hit that?

SPEAKER_01

Tied it, it was a two-run ball.

SPEAKER_05

It was they they did because I remember seeing the uh yeah, the pitcher's face, and he was like, damn it. Like, oh shit, now it's gonna be it. Now we're gonna have to try really try to get this down.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's just it's what a great moment. I mean, can you imagine how that Lone Depot park? Like, was it or they were at Lone Depot. Sorry, I didn't want to misquote that. Um, it oh my god, just the at I know what it's like to be in person, and it's like I can't imagine that atmosphere. Like, oh my god, electricity. The bat flip, loved it. Awesome, you know what I mean? Like, and I'm not a big bat flip guy, but in that moment and the way he did it, right? It's just awesome, dude. I I I just yeah, Steve. It was awesome. What do you think, Nick?

SPEAKER_04

I'm I think this is a great way. This is a better option in my in my mind than like an all-star game. Not necessarily than like the home run derby, but like this is a great way to make sports. I mean, you saw it with the Four Nations tournament and hockey. I think the WBC and baseball is a great way to like to repopularize the sport again. I I wish it was more it's every four years, isn't it? Now only uh I think the WBC is only every four.

SPEAKER_00

No, it's two, but maybe is it two? Maybe it is maybe it is four.

SPEAKER_04

Anyway, regardless, I think I I think it's something that that's uh a mixing piece for baseball, and it's a great addition to the sport.

SPEAKER_01

Um great tournament. And uh Nick, the fun thing is for the guys, they get to they get to give each other shit on the field, their opponents, their teammates. It's great.

SPEAKER_04

Right, it's it's a it's a different. I mean, it's they do that a little bit, you know, during the all-star break, um, and that they have some fun, but a lot of it is you don't see you don't see the passion at the all-star game that you see in the WBC.

SPEAKER_00

No, no, it's what I mean.

SPEAKER_04

Like there's a difference there. It's like they're the it's like they're on vacation, like you would play baseball on vacation. Yeah, all-star game. WBC is serious. I agree.

SPEAKER_01

The the baseball all-star game is kind of like, no, it's a base, you know, it's a baseball game. It's awesome to go. I've been to one, and it's fantastic. But we also went to the home run derby. That's electric. That's a fun. The fans are we did it in Arizona um with my buddy Dave Nettles, and it was, you know, we've done a lot of these trips together, and uh Ashley was there. Dude, it was awesome. But you're right, dude. It's just a baseball game. I I think you're right, Nick. I think you know, still, like you said, still do the all-star thing, but this is so much better. Oh my god. The countries, and they're they're flying their flags and they're chanting and they're saying, Man, it's so much fun. I love like Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Puerto Rico. I love baseball there. It's they're just the fans are wilding out every single game. Oh, not every game, but you know what I mean? It's like they're country passion and it's a heated rivalry.

SPEAKER_04

And like you said, that if you bring new teammates in that used to be enemies, now they're best friends, and they're playing against some of their other teammates that are now enemies. It's cool.

SPEAKER_01

It's absolutely fantastic. I completely agree. Steve, you said four years, bud.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, it is every four-year.

SPEAKER_01

Next one's 2030. Right on. Thanks for checking on that, man. We appreciate you. Um, Brandon, what do you got? Stuff.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we've talked so much about how momentum's important going into tournament play. And as soon as I saw Venezuela beat Japan, I was like on uh-oh.

SPEAKER_01

I felt this I was talking a little bit of smack and having fun with it, but I yeah, I agree. It was like that's a big win.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I was worried then it's either gonna go for you or against you, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_01

Like, there's also uh beating Japan was like such a huge thing. It was like you look at they could also have that emotional letdown, you know what I mean? Like they were still, you know, but or like you said, yeah, the momentum, and I think that's what it was. I think the momentum obvious they were just their pitching was great, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

They're unstoppable.

SPEAKER_01

And team USA's defense in that game was also fantastic. I mean, it was a great game, but I yeah, I agree, buddy.

SPEAKER_05

There was a lot of world tournaments this year in the last year or so because we even have FIFA coming up now here.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, the world of the summer. Yeah, we'll yeah, World Cup's gonna be huge. What were you saying, Brandon? Sorry.

SPEAKER_03

One thing, maybe it's just me that I find it odd. But question, is it weird that they hand out medals? I mean weird that they hand out medals for this. For baseball? For the world baseball classic, yeah. Really? Yeah, so they gave out silver medals to Team USA. Why? It's not the Olympics.

SPEAKER_01

Uh I see your point.

SPEAKER_02

I yeah.

SPEAKER_01

No, I understand what you're saying. I I I see why it would you think it's weird. I mean, I yeah, I can see that. What would you do in place of medals then? It just I think what Brandon is saying is it's you get the world baseball classic trophy. Like that's you know how like uh like tournaments like this are. I I think he's right.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, either a trophy or just medals for only the championship team.

SPEAKER_01

I and I think Brandon, I honestly I think nobody's thinking twice about it because we just got done with the Olympics. Yeah, but it's like if you were to do think about this, Nick and Steve, if you were to just do this event like not anywhere near an Olympic year, wouldn't it be weird that a baseball tournament ends with getting silver medals? Gold, silver, and bronze. I mean, gold, silver, and bronze medals. You just you get the world baseball classic trophy, just like you get the world cup, right? We're talking about the soccer, the the world cup coming up. They don't get medals. I they might get something that's not given to them in a ceremony, you know what I mean? It's like I think Brandon's right. Yeah, I thought that was. I'm surprised they do too. I think it is odd. I don't know. No, it's not, and again, not right or wrong.

SPEAKER_04

What's that? If it is every four years, it's going to always be with the Winter Olympics.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, true, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, so every Winter Olympics will have a baseball journey with gold, silver, and bronze. That's a great point, Brandon. Yeah, it is kind of weird. I think it is like it's not even in baseball do they do that anywhere else except to WBC.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. I was curious why they decide to do that in the beginning in the first place.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but again, I I kind of yeah, I think Brandon's kind of kind of right on this one. It's it should make it when you have when you have a head that size, you just have so much knowledge in there. He's just he's he's so it's he's he's like the brain from uh the ninja turtles. Remember the brain? He's just that smart, man. I'm telling you, but that it's a great point, Brandon. It's a good I I again, I think you're right. It is kind of weird. It's like good hot take. Yeah, awesome. So um, with that as well, Brandon, did you want to talk about you got something going on with the WWE?

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yeah, for real. But I just want to mention uh they recently announced uh every year they do their Hall of Fame ceremony for WrestleMania, and they recently announced their uh celebrity inductee this year, who is gonna be Dennis Rodman. And if you don't know, Dennis Rodman uh participated in uh several matches back in the 90s for WCW, where he team up with Hulk Hogan. Like I think the most famous one was where they went up against uh Diamond Dallas Page and Carl Malone.

SPEAKER_01

Carl Malone. That's any match happened when the Bulls played the Utah Jazz.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's why they set that up.

SPEAKER_01

Dude, that's hilarious. That's awesome. So he's going into their Hall of Fame.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's awesome.

SPEAKER_01

He learned congratulations, Dennis Rodman. Round of applause, boys. That's well done, sir. That is cool, man. You listen, Dennis Rodman. I I don't know really honestly how people feel about him. I absolutely thought his antics were hysterical. It was like when they talk about him in uh the Bulls, if you haven't seen that 10-part series, it was one of the so good. Yeah, the originals, like then they did Man in the Arena with Tom Brady, and now they're talking about doing Gretzky and some other guys. So it's like that's they talk about how Jordan would be like, they'd be like, Well, Dennis Robin left, he went to Vegas, he's supposed to be in practice. And Jordan's like, let him go, let him be himself, let him be Dennis. He made the team colorful. I mean, it was but he showed up and he was the best defensive player in the NBA, dude. I I like watching him out to tip rebound himself, yeah. Have him out there, having him out there was why why they were one of the reasons that they were so good. Obviously, you know, there was a lot of other reasons, but Rodman was legit, dude, and he always showed up and showed out, so it's like let him be himself.

SPEAKER_04

He may have been hungover, uh, or most of the time, or other stuff, but you know what? He still played that game. Oh, so much more to watch him tip the ball, and dude.

SPEAKER_01

I'm sorry, but kids earmuff it for me. Dude, he banged Carmen Electra. I mean, it's like enough said, dude's a hero. Oh, dude, he was like he's like a Charlie Sheen. Yeah, oh Charlie C in a tiger band. Yeah, dude. Like, yeah, Robin was great. Remember when he wore the wedding dress? It was like dude was a character. It was funny, it was fun. So, anyway, congratulations, Dennis Robman, making it into the tournament. Um, Steve, uh some women's basketball, the uh the world tournament you were following and keeping up with it. How'd that how's that going?

SPEAKER_05

I am pulling up my notes. Frank, can we edit this? Yeah, you're gonna want to edit this because no, I didn't. And then I switched over to the uh to madness to the lady bracket.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so I think we're just gonna have to cut this whole thing out. Okay, so we're gonna cut out Lady Basketball. Um, so we'll just Okay. Yep. I forgot. Didn't we talk? We talked of this on Friday. This was supposed to be done, right? Alright. Okay, alright. Count us back into the stuff. Um, so with that, guys, we're gonna go into the NC2A tournament. Um what a Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday it was, man. That it's these tournaments are always so much fun. That was one minute, like that was twice that I thought maybe Duke was getting run. It was like the Sierra game. I was like, holy shit. But it's at the same time, there was a point like, okay, they they hadn't scored a bucket in like four minutes. Duke just kind of locked in, got it done. They're all college-level basketball players. Obviously, Duke is legit. And then, but even the game that they won big, there was a point where they were tied, or it was close. I was going back between so many games, but um absolutely just awesome tournament. Um, the final perfect bracket was ended last night because of Iowa winning. So I was watching that, but damn, I'm still thinking like there was a ton of upsets, and they were like, How does somebody still have a perfect bracket? I'm like, that is kind of I mean, that's legit, right? Like, that's pretty that's pretty cool, if you ask me. Um, what do we got though? Like the the biggest upsets. Um I think we knocked out was I I had North Carolina in the Sweet 16, I had them lose. In this week 16, but I still had North Carolina, and they got they got lambasted. So it's like out this yeah. Well, Steve, what do you got?

SPEAKER_05

What are you thinking? UNC. I thought by the end of the first, I thought they were gonna run away with the game, but then the other team came back.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, they just um there was a guy their shooting was pitiful though.

SPEAKER_05

Oh yeah. I mean, they did horrible when it comes, they only they were 63% at the free throw line. That's how they lost the game.

SPEAKER_01

Brutal. Brutal.

SPEAKER_05

I mean, they had a chance to tie it up at the end of the game with the yeah uh at the end the guy missed both of them. And uh by that point, that was that was the end of it.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, God, dude. It just it that's the one of the things with basketball, it's college basketball is still so much better than the NBA. Oh, it's so much more physical, and just more fun to watch. It's action-packed, it's great, dude. They're not just going, you know, but yeah, yeah, shoot, yeah, yeah, shoot. Um, it's like it's basketball, and it's you know what basketball should be, and so it's awesome. But yeah, number Iowa, god man, that's crazy. Iowa beat Florida, knocked off in number one because ones and twos were having a really good tournament, right? Like, I mean, you look at the South, the South, you've got two, three, and four in Houston, Illinois, and Nebraska. In the east, you've got one, two, three, five. In the west, you've got one, two, four, and then bang, Texas. That was another one. I the Texas was a play-in, guys. They were a play-in, they were first four, so it's like they're in the sweet 16. I mean, I think that's Gonzaga. I mean, that's no, dude, I had Gonzaga, yeah. I had Gonzaga making it to the Elite Eight, bro. Like, it it's it's unbelievable.

SPEAKER_03

Gonzaga winning it.

SPEAKER_01

Did you really like sure? That was not a bad pick.

SPEAKER_05

I mean, yeah, I mean, over the years, that's they always make it to at least the elite eight.

SPEAKER_01

And and then in the Midwest, you have Michigan, which is one obviously, ISU two, and then four and six. You got a couple of teams, but Ford's not, you know, in Tennessee. Tennessee, Tennessee looks good. So, anyway, what do you what did you say, Brandon? What did you have as your big surprise?

SPEAKER_03

Well, my big surprise was as you said, Texas coming from that first four, and just you know, they got the momentum now, as far as I'm concerned.

SPEAKER_01

I any team, I'm not gonna lie, dude. Right now, I think that's the biggest upset in the tournament. I mean, I I get it. Texas, I well, yeah. I mean, uh, I don't know. I mean, Florida's a pretty big one. I know that that's a huge upset. People probably argue that that's been the biggest upset, but I don't know, man. Uh, Texas over Gonzaga in the second round, I think, is I just me.

SPEAKER_05

Well, and Texas could beat Purdue. If they play like they were playing, they've played so far, they could beat Purdue. And that's um so it's not a shoe-in for Purdue to make it.

SPEAKER_01

I was almost about to say, like, no way, but I'm like, yeah, yeah, why not? They've already done what they've done. It's like, I why not?

SPEAKER_05

I'm looking forward to watching Michigan and Alabama play.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

I think that's gonna be a really good game. So who do you have? Who did you have uh in the championship game, Steve? Uh I had Duke in Arizona, and then you mean the very last one? Yeah. Duke in Arizona.

SPEAKER_01

Duke versus Arizona?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Same. I that's that's literally.

SPEAKER_05

And I I know I don't I shouldn't say this because I'm in North Carolina, but I have Arizona beating Duke.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so I had again, I had in one bracket, I have Duke winning it, and in another bracket, I have Arizona winning it. That's fair. Nick, who do you have in the final four, buddy?

SPEAKER_04

I had Kansas.

SPEAKER_01

Or who do you have in the championship game? Sorry. Uh Kansas versus Arizona, Kansas winning it. Will Arizona okay? Can't I mean Kansas could have made a run. So stuff.

SPEAKER_03

My championship picks were Duke and Gonzaga, but uh Gonzaga's.

SPEAKER_01

So I've always dude, Gonzaga's such a just a great basketball program, man. God, they're so good. They really are.

SPEAKER_03

And uh for a long time.

SPEAKER_01

Dude, I just I love I want to see that. When was their last?

SPEAKER_03

I don't even know.

SPEAKER_01

Steve, who's what was Gonzaga's last um when was their last title?

SPEAKER_05

It wasn't it wasn't too long ago.

SPEAKER_01

That's what I thought. Because I remember hearing about it. Uh yeah, I thought they won one like maybe 20 or 19. Let's see here. 21, they were in the final four. Yeah, yeah. Gonzaga's just such a storied basketball program. It's it really is. It's really great, but it's like they always get knocked out late. Nothing, huh?

SPEAKER_05

No, I've actually seen that they've actually won. That's I I wasn't sure. I thought they that might have been it when they huh?

SPEAKER_01

They've never won it. They've never won it. Okay. Yeah, they I mean they've had the runner up twice. Um that's didn't they do it? Wasn't it them that lost to uh was it Villanova? That like amazing play, they got it down the court. Um anyway, it doesn't matter, but uh yeah. I the the Gonzaga thing was that was oh my gosh, that's just that was so huge. I it's just man crazy.

SPEAKER_04

So do you do you think the the uh biggest bracket buster so far this year is the high point panthers when they beat the Wisconsin Patchers? That's also yeah, you know what?

SPEAKER_01

I didn't even think about that one. That one's that was big.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, that was only a 12-5, but still, like who's gonna put a 12 overall badgers?

SPEAKER_01

It's a 12-5, though. It's no, that's yeah, man, that's big. Like, that's crazy. I remember that one. You had the betters. There was, you know, um I bet, but I'm like, you know, again, you guys know football, you know, NHL and NBA. I do, but because the well, not even really the NBA, honestly. Um, but it's like there's people that are so into betting on the tournament, and I'm always like, nah, man, that's like now you're not betting, you're just straight gambling. Basically, but it like it there was one that I saw. Okay, so somebody put a thousand dollars on who played Duke in the first round? That was C oh um Sienna, Sienna Sienna, okay. So somebody put a thousand dollars on Sienna and it was like plus sixty eight hundred or something. So you're looking at like sixty eight thousand dollars, right?

SPEAKER_05

So and they were actually waiting there for a while.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so at halftime they were up nine, I think. And basically the dude got a cash out offer of like seven grand. They were up 4332, they were up by 11. Cash out offer came through. Oh, why wouldn't you? Yeah, I agree. Well, I mean, why wouldn't you? Because if you actually here's the thing that he could have done at that point is he could have like let the second half start, right? That cash out offer is gonna stay. If I remember correctly, Duke was down on on just with maybe four minutes. So Sienna held that lead for a long time. That cash out offer probably went north of 15,000. Yeah, you're probably right. That's the only thing. I would just sit there and you just wait on it. You let it give it a few, but not too much. You know what I mean? If you know what you're doing, and you just wait it out. It's like, okay, they went down by nine, you might lose 600 bucks. Cut it right there because it's Duke. Yeah. But Sienna extended that lead and held that lead for a little bit, and then I think it was almost like the seven-minute mark. They started to oh, now they're missing shots, and then they went on like a four-minute stretch where they didn't hit a single shot. It was like Duke was Duke was done. So, but uh anyway, we got the sweet 16 coming up. I like everybody's picks, I think it's awesome. Brandon, if you had to, you're just depending on Duke now at this point, right?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, right on, but that's still a safe pick.

SPEAKER_01

That's still, of course, it really is. So um, anyway, moving on. Uh the NFL, uh kind of a what do you guys think? Kind of a slow week with the NFL.

SPEAKER_05

Definitely a slow week.

SPEAKER_01

Um, yeah, I do have something though. Okay, so I was in uh Pittsburgh. Um, my daughter went to a Zara Larson concert in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Um, it was at stage AE. My wife took her, and they we got her like VIP meet and greet passes and all this fun stuff. And so my son and I, we were walking the dog, and we went like we were staying right by, like literally just across the street from PNC Park, um, the home of the pirates. Just a beautiful, great area right there, right? And so we walked all the way down to Accursure Stadium and we saw where the draft is gonna be. Okay, let me just tell you what a shit show this is. I I personally think this is gonna be terrible. I would tell people do not go down there. It is going to be a shit show. Knowing Pittsburgh and how you drive, if you miss, like you make a wrong turn or something, you go over the wrong bridge, dude. It can be like a 20-minute mistake, right? Anyone from Pittsburgh knows this. It really can be like a 20-minute mistake. You gotta go all the way back around, hit another bridge, come back through. It's it can be a mess. This is going to be a shit show. Okay, so there is a thing called point park. This is where the players are gonna sit in like a green room, okay. The stage is going, there's two stages. There's the first stage where they like grab their hat, I think, and then they go to the main stage, which is all the way up against Akercher Stadium, okay? And so they have to take a boat across the river. The players do, yes, to get drafted, then get off the boat, go up a dock, up some stairs, get to this stage where they put their hat on, and then go to another stage to shake the commissioner's hand.

SPEAKER_05

Guys, this is gonna be a shit show. Yeah, you are absolutely right. Dude, I'm not gonna lie, though.

SPEAKER_01

The photo ops, what if somebody's afraid of like what if somebody's afraid to get on a boat, or what if somebody doesn't know how to swim and that freaks them out? It's like, I know these are great athletes, but there's a lot of people don't know how to swim. So it's like it's just kind of funny. Like they're they're in these nice, these guys get their suits tailored and they look great, right? They're greatest day of the world. I'm like, what was the NFL thinking with this one, guys? Like, listen, and and the the events down there, like for a Steeler game, they close that whole area down. Really, it's very difficult to get in and out of there because it's a football game, it's fun, you know. They've got a they've got a couple of big lots, and the tailgate is always great there. And uh, but anyway, I I'm just I'm looking at the map that you can look up online, and it's like, dude, this is gonna be a shit show. NFL experience is at PNC Park, super cool. That whole area there, ton of great bars, great food down there. Um, if you're ever in Pittsburgh, anybody got to check out Permanny Brothers. Um, we went to Meat and Potatoes, it's a great steakhouse. It's owned by Chris Latang, who plays for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Sure, absolutely check that out if you're ever in Pittsburgh. Um, also Hyde Park Steakhouse. I'm plugging steakhouses, right? You are anyway. Um, absolutely incredible. Uh, meat and potatoes, by the way. Get the 50-ounce tomahawk. It's 4-2. It's amazing. Dude, it's so good. This place was absolutely incredible. Uh, beef tartar was amazing, and then we had the uh Wagyu Carpaccio. Ooh, then we had you cultured, and then we had some drinks, and yeah, it dude. It was great, great night, great date night with Ashley, and um yeah, and the the concert was great. My Ash poor Ashley, she was sitting there and she's like getting just like these 14-year-old. Oh, at the concert, yeah. Oh, they were on the floor in the second row. They're like Ashley's like texting me, she's like, Get me out of here. But my daughter just had so much fun, and they actually really did have fun, but it was crazy. Even my daughter was like, Hey, uh, can we go? So, but anyway, um, yeah, what do you what did you anything you guys uh saw with the NFL this week?

SPEAKER_03

Man, I've been looking, it's just been all quiet on the Western front in the NFL.

SPEAKER_01

I know it really is, and it's like the draft is 31 days away. Remember, this time of the offseason, it kind of is just like meh, you know, let's mellow out, let's get ready.

SPEAKER_05

I'm sure teams are just I think the biggest news here is that it looks like uh Jackson Smith is the highest paid wide receiver now at 168 million.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that happened today, guys.

SPEAKER_05

Um, that four years, that's a lot of money.

SPEAKER_01

It was it was what four years, 168.8, right?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I wonder how much that's guaranteed.

SPEAKER_01

I can you look that up? It's a new cloud, literally just happened today.

SPEAKER_05

We found 420 guaranteed.

SPEAKER_01

120 guaranteed, yeah. Wow, yeah. Sorry guys, we do this episode. I know we're airing it on Friday, but we we film it earlier in the week, and so it's like this just happened, and yeah, so Jackson Smith and Jigba. Listen, he's a he's a bona fide number one, boys. So hey Jackson, congrats, buddy, on the payday.

SPEAKER_05

That's a hell of a payday.

SPEAKER_01

Get that bag, baby. Um, that's awesome. So I, you know, I'm a Fortnite fan, but it's like, dude, dude's legit. He's absolutely incredible. Incredible.

SPEAKER_05

So um could be block for a long time. What's that? Unless he get obviously unless he gets trader release, he's contractually obligated until 2031. Yeah, yeah, it's what he's it's an extension, yeah. Yeah, but there's all there's a fifth-year option with it and all kinds of stuff to go along with it. So, yeah, 2031, he'll be a Seahawk unless obviously they trade him or or he gets released, which if he plays like he's been playing, that's not gonna happen.

SPEAKER_01

But remember in 1998, Steve, when we were in high school and we thought 2031 there was gonna be flying cars.

SPEAKER_05

We talked with it.

SPEAKER_01

We talked specifically about 2031.

SPEAKER_05

No, I do not remember 2031.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's because that didn't happen. Anyway, um anyway, Nick, what do you think, buddy? What any thoughts? I mean, it's again, it's a slow week, so it's been slow.

SPEAKER_04

Uh, besides the big signing today that I missed because I haven't even checked my phone while I was at work.

SPEAKER_01

But um it literally happened like at 4 p.m. today. So it's like, yeah, that's why I briefly forgot about it for a second. It's anyway, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I think it's gonna be neat to see these teams kind of start targeting their players that they're gonna get in the draft, and then you know, post-draft is the rest of the holes have to be filled, and it's it's kind of wrapping up right before the big you know start again. So I'm just being patient. My bears look good.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah. Once the draft's over, it's like, yeah, they'll be it'll be just no more football for a little while, but but yeah, it's exciting, Brandon. Anything else? This stuff, my man.

SPEAKER_03

Just uh, you know, first we had that offensive linemen, get a record breaking deal, you know. Yeah, now him is like players getting that money.

SPEAKER_01

That's great. I mean, it's like hey, these kids they work their whole life, their families, the the the sacrifices that you make, right? And it's like to get there is just gotta be the greatest feeling in the world. I can't.

SPEAKER_05

Oh Travis Kelsey signed a three-year deal as an all as well today.

SPEAKER_01

Kelsey just Kelsey did, yep.

SPEAKER_05

What's the details? Oh well, three years, uh 57 million with lots of incentives, though.

SPEAKER_01

I three years 57 million. Kelsey, and before you hate on the case.

SPEAKER_04

Well, you have to do something because he's he's not gonna have a quarterback next year.

SPEAKER_01

No, but it's like, dude, he's done. Like, this is it for him. You know what I mean? Like, it's oh absolutely he's I that's a lot of money for three years for a guy that age. I'm not saying anything about Kelsey. I love Kelsey, I think he's one of the greatest top, I mean, top three, with you know, Kittle and um and Gonzalez. It's like, dude, yeah. Or Gronk. Gronk, uh Gronk's in there, yeah. Sorry. But anyway, I'm just saying, like, he's one of the greats. And uh, but it's like, man, for the Chiefs to give him that much money this late in his career, it's just like ooh, that's a risk. But anyway, he's he deserves it. There's no question. So but yeah, I know you're not gonna have Mahomes for at least a year. Yeah, I mean, he maybe week 15. But it's like, listen, we talked about this. They got um Justin Fields, they got Justin Fields, man. And I I'm not a huge Fields fan, but for what they do in that offense, I think that's a I think Fields will be very successful.

SPEAKER_05

It's really a perfect fit. I I agree. I mean, the only other person that I would consider Kansas City taken, that would have been Arizona's previous quarterback, because he would as well fit into that type of uh bootleg, throwing, running kind of um offense. Yeah, I think it would have fit really well.

SPEAKER_01

I really I again this is what this will be the over-emotional fans that are gonna freak out when I say this, but I think Kyler Murray's better than Justin Fields. I know he doesn't have the height, but I just think his his scramble is when it comes down to just being a quarterback, I think I don't know, even still, I still think Kyler Murray's overall you put them in the same offense. I think you're gonna get better you're going to get better numbers from Kyler Murray.

SPEAKER_05

Yes, but you Kyle Murray has a better chance of getting a hurt. I know by a small little hit. That's your downfall.

SPEAKER_01

That's your downfall. But either way, I still think this is a great pickup for Kansas City. So and then uh back to the Travis Kelsey thing. It's just eh, a lot of money. Three years though, I think it's good. I think the 49ers will do something similar with like Trent Williams. You know what I mean? It's like, boy, it's risky when these great players start to get up there. It's like Joey Bosa, who's gonna take a chance on Joey Bosa? Yeah, yeah, it's like he's up there. I would I I think whatever team takes Joey Bosa, great. That's a great signing. He's still got football in him.

SPEAKER_04

Khalil Mack just got signed this year again, and he's old.

SPEAKER_01

Khalil Mack, great line.

SPEAKER_04

Remember when he came into the came into the league. Yeah, and I think when he became a bear.

SPEAKER_01

He made bad choices though on teams that he picked. Yeah. Stop talking to me directly. That stunned his career, I think, where he went. Stunned his career. So, but uh anyway, with that moving on, um, let's get into the meat and potatoes of this episode. The NHL boys, we are getting into the nitty-gritty here. 10 to 12 games. That's what teams have left. Okay. Um, I uh uh we went to my son and I we were sitting down, the girls were getting ready for the uh concert, and I was like, holy crap, I'm like looking through scores and stuff. I'm like, the pens are playing right now. And so my son goes, he's like, oh, cool. And I'm like, get your shoes on. We're going to the game. Listen, we walked across the Roberto Clemente Bridge and hoofed it. 21 minutes we got to PPG Paint's arena. Um buying tickets online uh as I as we're walking, and it's hard to find them because it's the game was like already 11 minutes into the first period. So we found two on Ticketmaster. Um, whoever has the seats in section 232 row B seats one and two, thank you very much. Anyway, they were great. Um, sat upper level, which is in the first row or two, is fantastic at hockey games. If you've never sat in the like upper level first row, do it. It's dude. Oh, yeah. It's it's it's awesome.

SPEAKER_04

If you can't be down by the glass, first bowl.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I will take those all day, every day. So anyway, I've never had a bad one. So we went in and we saw the Carolina Hurricanes pretty much just dominate the whole game. They won five to one. So um the point is, I'm telling you what, I'm starting to really want a Buffalo Sabres, Carolina, Panthers ECF. I I think that's Carolina Hurricanes.

SPEAKER_05

Yes, yeah, it'll be it'll be a good Carolina, Buffalo, Eastern Conference Finals, I think could be in the making.

SPEAKER_01

I tell me, I'm wrong. Tampa Bay. I will say Tampa Bay. Yep, Tampa Bay might have something to say about it. But I'm like, guys, I don't think anybody's gonna beat those two teams.

SPEAKER_05

No, I mean Carolina's running away with the Metropolitan Division. Oh, they're that's it's I mean, they're they're 10 points above, but they haven't clinched yet. And I was looking at the uh West through comp they still got uh Avalanche, Avalanche and uh the other uh Dallas, they've already secured playoff spots.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, the Aves did it in game 67. Wow, really?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's a crazy number.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they the Aves are at 102 points. Here, I'm not gonna, you guys know me. I'm not, I cannot stand conspiracy theorists and stuff like that. So, but I will say this the president's trophy curse is kind of it's funny, and it's because, dude, not a lot win the whole thing. But the advs did have a slide, I think, at the right time. So I think they could end up being one of the teams that that does it, um, that wins the whole thing with the president's trophy. So Predators, though. But that's not that's that's not the end yet. So there's still like Carolina could still get the president's trophy. The Sabres are only seven points back of the president's trophy. So the top spot in the whole league is still up for grabs, but we don't really I don't, you know, care about that nonsense, but I just think it's funny. I thought Nick would enjoy that one. Yeah, thanks.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I'm just laughing because I watched the I got to watch the Bruins Red Wings game. Uh, and at the time, before the game started, or before the game ended, both of uh both the Bruins and the Red Wings were tied uh for the wild card spots in the for the wild card Eastern Company spot. And so it's like with that loss, won won't four to two, one empty net goal. But I know we're now we're out of the wild card. You know, we have to get back into a wild card spot. So you gotta love this time hockey, man.

SPEAKER_01

I know, man. Every game matters right now in the east and the west, it for those bottom spots, every game matters.

SPEAKER_05

Well, yeah, that's what I was just gonna say about the predators. I mean, they beat Seattle and they beat the Kings, which put them in the number two uh wild card spot and knocked them both of them down.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, like like we were talking about this last week. It's like who's gonna get hot? And Steve just getting into the west now. Yeah, Steve's right. So you got Nashville now, they're climbing in the West. So, and it's like uh I know we kind of jumped to the west a minute ago, but you've got Colorado and Dallas, obviously at the top, they're done. But the bottom is where it's that's you're yeah, Steve. This is this is the time. Yep, this is when you oops, sorry. This is when you have to get going, and Nashville has turned the engine on. They've won four straight. Um, yeah, they're sitting at 75 points through 70 games. So um, you got San Jose, Seattle, LA have all lost three and San Jose four straight games. This is when you can't do that.

SPEAKER_05

No, you can't, because they were last time we did the podcast, they were, I think they had the last wild card spot.

SPEAKER_01

Which team? This is San Jose, San Jose did, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

And now they are another city.

SPEAKER_01

Remember, guys, they are also very, very they have like seven of their players are under the age of 22, so it's like they're young, but LA's not. LA's got a lot of playoff experience still on that team, and they're just faltering.

SPEAKER_04

But all those moves they made with the Rangers are with Panierin, like how that's not gonna pan out this year.

SPEAKER_01

Doesn't look good. Um, well, that's awesome change by the San Jose still has two games in hand on a lot of these teams, three games in hand, and so you know, and again so here's my problem with I want to get into the playoff real quick. This playoff setup the way that they changed it back in 2019, it's trash. It's it's complete garbage. Right now, you've got Utah and Nashville, or let's just talk about Utah as a wild card team at 80 when they are one, two, three. They're the fifth team in the Western Conference, and they have to play as like a seven. Utah has eighty points, Vegas 78, Edmonton 77. They are ahead of that. Yeah, this is this is trash. This has to stop. So, right now your playoff matches are Colorado would play Nashville, and Anaheim would play Utah. Okay, Utah is only two points behind them and may end up with more points than Anaheim. Just want to bring that up.

SPEAKER_04

I didn't even look at that.

SPEAKER_01

So then it would be Vegas and Edmonton, Dallas and Minnesota. When this is what it should be, Colorado at 102 points would play the eighth-ranked Nashville Predators at 75 points. Okay. Dallas would be the number two team at 97 points, and would play right now. The Oilers. We'll play the Edmonton Oilers as the number seven team. Number three is the Minnesota Wilds, and they would play Utah. Wait. No, they play they would play Vegas, would be Vegas. Sorry about that. And then it would be Utah would play Ana. Anaheim would be number four, Utah would be number five. It's just what are we doing?

SPEAKER_04

Like it's kind of a joke. I didn't see that before. That's kind of weird how they I mean, I know you have to have divisions within divisions, but that's no.

SPEAKER_01

This is Nick, this is terrible. When it comes to the playoffs, it this this has to go away. This is absolutely ridiculous. It's this is terrible. So anyway, this, yeah, it's ridiculous. It needs to be fixed. Brandon, the stuff. What do you got, buddy?

SPEAKER_03

Going back to talking about momentum.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Uh yeah. Ottawa Senators and need two spots out of the playoffs, but since January 25th, they are 13-3-2.

SPEAKER_01

Boom.

SPEAKER_03

They are a dangerous team.

SPEAKER_01

I, buddy, I'm I'm I like that. I think you are completely correct. Nobody wants to play Ottawa if they get in. And I think they're gonna get in. I think we kind of said that too last week is that I really like Ottawa. Um, yeah, Brandon I the fact that they're not, they're still out to me.

SPEAKER_04

They're still three, they're still three games behind in the wildcard. The East is kind of awesome.

SPEAKER_03

So I definitely see them making it, and then in the West.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but it's like it's like you said, every game matters right now, and they have to like they have to keep winning games because Boston's won too. The Islanders had lost one, but they had won a couple in a row. Um, they're winning games. Carolina's won three in a row, and you know, Buffalo had an OT loss. I'm just saying, like, these teams are winning games, everybody's winning. So it's like you have to win every game. You don't have to, but I'm just yeah. Like Nick said earlier, every game matters. Do you what do you what do you think, Brent? Who do you think is gonna get in?

SPEAKER_03

No, I think Ottawa's definitely gonna get the I think that I think that'll knock out the Islanders.

SPEAKER_01

Really? Yeah, I because I I think the Islanders could get, I think Boston could end up falling out. That's again that's me.

SPEAKER_03

There's only one point between them, so that's what I mean.

SPEAKER_01

And so you're looking at Ottawa, you've also got Philly. Philadelphia's one three straight. They're they're making move, they're moving up. Um, the one thing with Ottawa 2, Brandon, right now. Well, everybody, I'm not sorry. Right now, they've got two games in hand as well on the aisles. They if they to get even with them at 71 games played, they could end up uh tied with them. I don't know who owns the tiebreaker there, but yeah. I I like the I like it, Brandon. I I I agree. Steve, what do you think?

SPEAKER_05

No, I yeah, I think we talked about the last two. I I have a feeling the senators, the Ottawa's gonna make it into the wild card. Um I don't know who's gonna get probably the Islanders. Probably Boston and and you think it'll be Boston? I think it'll be I just think Boston's a better team. I think they'll they I think they'll go down the stretch, and I think they'll they'll take it in the stretch.

SPEAKER_01

I like the I like Matthew Schaefer, absolute stud kid, dude. Oh, he's so good, so one of the best defensive players gonna be of this generation, okay? Um and it's a Boston. I mean, I think Matthew Schaefer could end up being better than Kale McCarr. Like you're looking at him at 18 and what he's doing, he's like Celebrini and Bedard level. So, anyway, I I would love to see him win the rookie of the year plus drag the Islanders into the playoffs. It's like that's what the talk was like with Macklin Cellebrini. Like, if he gets San Jose into the playoffs, everybody a bunch a lot of people are saying he should be the MVP of the league. And I'm like, well, yeah, but that's looking, I don't know if that's gonna happen. But it's uh how many games do we have left? Like anywhere from like some teams are sitting at like there's one or maybe not. Everybody's sitting at like 71 to 68 games played. So some teams have like 13, 14, other well, like 13, and other teams have 10 or 11.

SPEAKER_05

So it looks like most teams April 16th is the end of the season. So when we do our next cast, that'll be the final week of the regular season, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

The regular season. So and we've got quarters. We've got two more. We've got you know, we've got we've got two more like regular season episodes. Yeah. So it's listen, it's it's getting close, and it's like there's so much up for grab. So coming down the last stretch here, guy, it's just so exciting. It's just it's a lot of it's great. I love this, I love it. Like, it's just pure gas, man.

SPEAKER_05

Like I think now it is it's my favorite sport to watch when it comes to playoffs, when it comes to that final stretch in the playoffs. I think hockey is my favorite. Used to be football, but now it's definitely over the last five years, so it's turned into hockey.

SPEAKER_01

I I tried for a really long time, everybody. I tried. Steve, he just doesn't listen to me, everybody. You gotta get on him. He doesn't eat hot dogs at baseball games. He tried to say, he tried to say he he thought hockey wasn't a real sport. Oh, I never said that.

SPEAKER_05

You're gonna get me shot.

SPEAKER_01

Oh I'm gonna get my address doxed now. Steve's address is as follows. No, but no, it's it is. I remember we were just so I was telling Hudson because sh um Svetchnikov scored a goal yesterday for um for the uh hurricanes, and I was telling him about the playoff game that I took Uncle Steve to, and it was the game where Svetnikov was a rookie. Um, they were playing the Capitals in the first round of the playoffs. Um, I think the Capitals at that point were up two games to none or something or other. And Svechnikov went after Ovechkin and dropped the gloves. And Ovechkin kind of initially looked at him like, really, and then just that's right. Svechnikov went backwards out cold. Ovi literally KO'd the kid. Um, that place lost its mind. The Kaniacs went full Kaniac and were boo and boo, and they're like losing their minds, but oh Specicoff, such a good kid. He was just trying to make a name for himself, and but oh, he did. And so Hudson brings up the video while we're at the game, and I'm like, that's the one. That was the playoff game. So anyway, absolutely, yeah. The Canes have a great team. I I'm gonna tell you what, guys, I'm also very hungry for a Buffalo Savers, Carolina Hurricanes ECF, Eastern Conference Final. I I'm gonna say it now. I think it would be amazing.

SPEAKER_05

It would. Hopefully, the uh the Hurricanes don't do what they normally do and lose in that final round, though. Right.

SPEAKER_01

Also, because I will take time off and I'm I'm going, I'm gonna drive up to Buffalo and go to one of those games. It's if it happens, I don't worry. I will do a vlog for that game.

SPEAKER_04

Then who do you have in the West for the Western finals?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I don't. It's it's not a prediction. I'm saying this is what I want.

SPEAKER_04

No, I know. Sure. Who do you who do you want to face the abs?

SPEAKER_01

Like you're just picking the it's over. The abs are going to the Stanley Cup final.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, they're gonna get to the Western Conference. They're gonna get to the Western Conference Final. They'll make it to the Western Conference Finals, I think. All right, all right. And if they do, I'm trying to think of who I have going against them.

SPEAKER_01

This team lays eggs. And and they when they do it, it's epic. I do I think they're the greatest team in the NHL right now. I like I know I like Buffalo, Carolina, but the Aves are the best teams.

SPEAKER_05

I don't I was just like I don't think that, yeah, I don't think either one of those can teams could it would be a rough, it would be a rough series, but I don't think I think Avilanch would come on top.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so um Nick, to answer your question, it's it's Dallas or somebody's that's it's either Dallas or whoever upsets them. I like yeah, I don't I think Dallas too, and the scary thing about Dallas is Dallas is playing really good hockey. I know they've lost two in a row, but you want to let me bring up Dallas real quick. God, 43, 16, and 11. They're not that different from the Aves. They're just not they're getting so they're kind of overlooked at times, I feel like. Maybe that's wrong, maybe that's off base. I don't know, but sometimes I feel like you're always talking about right now Buffalo, or you're talking about Carolina, or they're talking about the Aves, and it's like I almost feel like they don't get enough love. Like Dallas is good, and I haven't paid attention the last couple days, and I try not to pay too much attention to the sports media, but I just don't hear people on all the rooms and you know the the team pages and league pages and all this stuff about Dallas. I just don't see them talked about enough, and it's like too, they're dangerous.

SPEAKER_05

No, then you're you're you're right about them being very similar. I mean, they got 20, 240 points for them and 190 against versus avalanches 257 and 175. So they're very close to uh goals.

SPEAKER_01

Right there, dude.

SPEAKER_05

Um I mean they're home and and I mean avs are better. Yeah, Avalanche is better at home, but uh away they're right set, they're exactly the same almost 23 and 7 and 21 and 7.

SPEAKER_04

Steve the statistician.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, I was just yeah, it's right there. Um I guess I went to the Dallas Star game when they when they actually came here.

SPEAKER_01

So, real quick, since January 20th, they're 16 and 5. Dallas is it's before and then after the the the Olympic break. Like, yeah. That's what you won. They're not losing a lot of games right now. No. So just wanted to bring that up real quick. Sorry for interrupting, but yeah. It's like it's holy shit, like they're just good. Again, they just got done, they lost two really tight games. The game against Minnesota, they looked, I watched, I actually got to watch that game, they looked absolutely terrible. And then uh they lost to Vegas 3-2. So a couple of really, really tight games against good teams. Those are you know, those are both good playoff teams. So, you know, it's it's you know, you lose those types of games. What was shocking more to me is they lost uh they lost at home to Vegas, but you know, losing in Minnesota isn't, you know, that's nothing to it's upsetting, but you don't hang your hat on, you know, you don't you don't look down. Plus they beat Colorado two to one the night before. So it's like wow. Very, very just tight games. But if you look at it, to play Colorado in Colorado and beat them two to one in such a tight game, very you know it was physical, then to go into Minnesota the next day and only lose two to one. So it's like I said they didn't look good, but it's like, well, reasonably so. Brandon, what do you think?

SPEAKER_03

Speaking of that, well, I mean, the game where uh Dallas clinched their spot, they actually lost that game six to three against Utah. And I think Utah could be the spoiler in the West in the playoffs.

SPEAKER_01

They're they're good enough. 100%. That's a great that's a that's a good take. What do you think, guys?

SPEAKER_05

I think I think Utah's overrated. Oh shit.

SPEAKER_01

Brandon, look at Brandon, Brandon looks evil right now.

SPEAKER_04

You need a white cat.

SPEAKER_01

I'm pretty sure he's trying to kill you with his eyes through the computer, Steve.

SPEAKER_03

I know, right booking my plane ticket right now. I knew I knew saying that was gonna cause the problems, but yeah, I don't I don't I'm coming live next week from North Carolina.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god. Oh man, see Steve all bandaged up, like what happened to you?

SPEAKER_02

I would just like to say that I'm sorry. I'm sorry for misspeaking about misspeaking.

SPEAKER_01

See a reflection, see the reflection of Brandon in the background with a machete or something.

SPEAKER_03

We'll see what happens when the mammoths sweep the hurricanes in the Stanley Cup final.

SPEAKER_01

Oh shit. Wow, there's a hot take, folks.

SPEAKER_03

Wow, wow.

SPEAKER_01

Well, that'll be an interesting one. That uh that won't happen. Um, sorry, Brandon, but um, I don't know, buddy. Now we're just getting crazy, anyway. Um, yeah, so that's our hot takes. I think Nick, do you have anything?

SPEAKER_04

Uh I'm just gonna put it out there that again from my from my wing nuts. Uh Dylan Larkin is expected to return to the lineup tomorrow against Ottawa, who is behind the wings by three three points. Um in the fourth spot of the wild. Yeah, like we it's we've been waiting for Dylan to come back since the Olympic break with his lower body injury. So I'm excited to see how his impact win the return. I'm talking like how many points his lines are getting, all of it, because it's going to determine the, like you said, the next ten games.

SPEAKER_01

It like you said, like Steve, every game matters. Like Steve said, every game matters.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, and I don't think it's gonna help them come him come back.

SPEAKER_01

Shut up. Um, he's dropping, he's he's literally trying to just make people. cry right now. Steve, you do you not who Steve, so you're are you legit saying that you think I do. Oh man.

SPEAKER_05

I don't know. It's yours. Detroit's not going to make the playoffs this year.

SPEAKER_01

What's that? Who's that?

SPEAKER_05

Detroit. We the Red Wings are not going to make the playoffs this year. Oh you're you're going to lose out to auto repute.

SPEAKER_04

I'm excited to I'm excited to fly to North Carolina to whip your ass.

SPEAKER_03

Well I guess you guys can sit next to each other then yeah we can tie and we can plan out our trips. So we only have one rental card.

SPEAKER_01

Oh boy. Steve, I'm going to hear knock knock. Who the frick is here? Oh Steve. He's like I gotta hide um so Steve, who do you like? Let's just let's throw it out there. Let's hear it. Who's making who's going to get in? Are you sticking with Ottawa? Because you and I talked about I we said Ottawa's going to get in.

SPEAKER_05

I think it's going to be Boston and Ottawa.

SPEAKER_01

You think it'll be Boston and Ottawa so you think the Isles I think they're going to they're going to take the last two they're they're going to take the two wild card spots. So Isles will be left out. Okay. What about in the West? Right now of course you got Utah and Nashville. You've got LA who's two points out same amount of games they've got one game in hand on Utah you got Seattle 69 games played they're sitting at 71 you got San Jose at only 68 games played in 70 believe it or not I think San Jose is going to make the playoffs. Okay.

SPEAKER_05

And I think it's going to be Utah and San Jose. So you think Nashville will fizzle out yeah I think they're just having a good run right now. I mean which looks good they play they're playing really well but I don't think they're going they they just give up too many goals to make the playoffs. Okay. All right.

SPEAKER_01

All right okay well we're going to see I love it. And Brandon I know and Nick are taking receipts Steve. So they probably wrote it down. If you if you're wrong they're going to let you have it just be prepared. That's okay. It'll be really quiet if your predictions are right. That's just from uh pre- and very loud if I'm wrong yes I I've I've always been unapologetic about you know opinions when it comes to sports and it's like I've had times where more often than not where it's like I'll go into these rooms and I'll say something and like a prediction about a player it's like I'll literally stay with that team page because I subscribe to everybody's in another account and it's I'll come back and tag that person on the page and I'll be like hey boy because I'll take screenshots of conversations I'll be like hey buddy hey that's this didn't age well did it bud I'm like see this right here this is me that's good though gotta be held accountable. I know I'm just but yeah it probably makes me a terrible person I don't know but anyway yeah I do and listen if I make a prediction and and it's wrong I go ahead remind tell me give me shit I'm good with it she won't remind you but you're you're well open to remind him what say that again I said you won't remind us but where but you're welcoming anyone to who listens to remind you. Yeah absolutely 100% go ahead i like if I'm wrong about something tell me go ahead but pack a lunch because you're going to be waiting a while for me to be wrong. I get it anyway all right so continuing on folks we are going to continue our top five series okay so we've done a lot and I just want to remind everybody to like follow subscribe share please do um edits some of these videos that you see on TikTok down and then so we will be posting um top five dynasties on TikTok so please tell us what your top five dynasties are um and what you think of our picks let us know if you hate them it's okay we welcome it um anyway going forward also we are going to do a really fun series coming up um Nick what are we doing again uh we're gonna figure out who is the best and the worst fan base we're going to isolate our listeners completely no but we the point is we are gonna do a series on this okay like top five greatest uh fan moments or what was it brandon you said it was your suggestion actually this was a good one uh fan interference moments top five fan like interference moments like um we're gonna do top five um just worst fan moments yeah worst fan moments all this stuff so we're gonna go through and do a whole series on top five fan associated fan base associated things it's gonna be a lot of fun um we're gonna do it over the next month so with that said let's enter in we're gonna go with top five dynasties of all time across all sports everything here we go cutting it off at number five remember steve we don't just go five four three two one yes yes okay cut that out so no one would know unless you mentioned it I just Steve when you don't eat a hot dog at a baseball game you're gonna get rid of killed okay unless every time almost made it through an episode without reminding you about that and I can't do it I can't no that was actually twice now I'm well oh Nick did you already get him not about that you already talked about hot dogs too was it Brandon anyway all right Steve number five dynasties of all time what do you got buddy all right all my five except for this one is going to be things that I've actually watched or experienced that's all going to be within my lifetime but number five because Canada got shit on so much in this last uh you know the last couple weeks for the Olympics I put them as my number five for the all-around hockey for both men's and women's Olympic hockey ladies and gentlemen I want to apologize for Steve's behavior tonight I'm no I'm just kidding go ahead what did I do wrong this time Canada oh I'm just kidding that's it no it is great I mean that I you know they just yes USA won this last year they obviously didn't win since the year no they they're of course they're dominant yeah but they have 16 total medals just the men's hockey i was looking at the women's and they have uh the they didn't start until 98 they have they've podium every single time yeah since they started no it's a good pick but that's fine Nick Nick what's your number five number five we're gonna start off in basketball with the 1980s Lakers you had five titles magic john like you they gotta make the list my list anyway right on good number five Brandon the stuff number five number five I'm going to baseball in the 1950s with the 1950s New York Yankees who were just destroying everybody back then yeah yeah it's yeah that's fair it was a great dynasty very very dominant there's just yeah there's no arguing that one um you can argue that Yankees are the best dynasty with you know all the way across for how many times they've won sure absolutely yeah um my number five is going to be the UCLA Bruins basketball team and program from 1964 to 1975 10 titles in 12 years that's my number five the UCLA Bruins Steve number four Yankees but the 90s Yankees the Yankees and the Red Sox there's their back and forth that they had going on but the definitely the 90 Yankees yeah very very dominant team almost won four straight if it wasn't for Arizona so I enjoyed watching them yeah it was a fun team to watch Nick number four number four I'm going with I don't know if I should say the New England Patriots or just Tom Brady like the 2000 2000 to 2019 Patriots they got nine Super Bowls or six super bowls nine appearances I mean yep they were they literally caused me to hate that team single handedly was was Tom Brady yep wow wow brandon number four number four I'm going to the NHL 1980s with the Edmonton Oilers led by the great one Wayne Gretzky yep that uh actually was my number four as well the Edmonton Oilers 1984 to 1990 they won five cups in seven years so if it wasn't for an incredibly entertaining series against the Calgary Flames they would have won four in a row um but it was like Brandon said like well their dominance is why they beat over the uh the islanders from 80 to 84 for me when it came to that sort of stuff so anyway yep I agree Brandon great pick at number four Steve number three Tom Brady that was Nick Stellar for me I didn't even put New England I just put Tom Brady gotcha okay yeah yeah very very very very just dominant time I mean he went from New England and then went to you know Tampa Bay and he won another one there it was just I mean but it was the Patriots that yeah that was that was those were that was an incredible run it really was 17 straight AFC titles six super bowls in nine trips unreal so um Nick number three number three gonna go back to basketball and I'm going with the 90s bulls have to bring them up they got six titles two of which both are two of them worth three Pete's uh and they were perfect in the finals in the 90s like that's crazy so tip to all the bulls but they're my three okay Brandon number three my number three I gotta agree with Nick the 90s bulls every other team was just playing to lose to them that's too good yeah I you know I mean yeah six and ten years is pretty good that's better than Brady sure sure six and eight years all right um okay so my number three is going to be the New England Patriots as well uh again I said it I had it written down from 2001 to 2018 they won 17 straight AFC titles again six Super Bowls nine trips um it it the one um Super Bowl that Ashley and I went to is actually um New York Giants and and uh when they beat Tom Brady the second time in Indianapolis we were there um again great stadium great city that was a great event Indianapolis hats off to you you guys did an amazing job um anyway it it just even the year that they went 18 and oh I mean that team was just one of the most dominant teams of all time it's it was so it for me again it's the way I did this was true longevity and just dominance over a significant period of time. So um Patriots for me at number three Steve what's your number two uh the 90s 49ers okay yep again Steve Young Joe Montana Jerry Rice 80s 80s into the 90s yeah they yeah 90s because most of it was nineties for me because I didn't really watch a lot of the Steve Young because I was too young for that but I mean not uh Joe Montana but Steve Young I watched a lot of that and especially being from the period they were so close they they should have had uh they should have had three in a row honestly but it that was a tough that I remember that was a tough day um I was the first time when they lost in 90 that was brutal and they lost Montana for two years.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah great choice great pick um Nick what is your number two number two I'm sticking to basketball um yeah I was trying to stick it with longevity and you got to talk about the Celtics from what 57 to 69 11 championships in 13 years Bill Russell.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah gotta make a list somewhere one of us yep good choice Brandon number two my number two is a team that everybody got sick of seeing them win constantly it's Tom Brady and Bill Belichick and the Winnipeg Patriots yep dominated it's gonna be on everybody's list it's just there that that that period of time just the longevity of it was just uh I it's just yeah it's it's significant so um so my my number two is actually going to be uh Manchester United um from 1992 to 2013 13 titles i that's yeah i don't care what the sport is i don't care where it's located that is pure dominance that is just it they just give it to them every year that's to me that's uh wow pretty incredible so in what 21 years you win 13 wow and they had gone and lost i think i believe four other four others so 17 trips to the final and you cut in 21 years and you come out with 13 yeah that's crazy that's that's a dynasty boys well when you think of football or soccer i mean yeah everybody because of that that's why everybody knows manchester and soccer i mean that those two go hand in hand when you think of soccer yeah yep manchester united so that was my number two um steve what is your number one and don't say hot dogs uh no uh because of my all mine except for the number five were all ones that i've was able to watch chicago bulls are the 90 chicago bulls are my number one pick okay that was it would have been the Celtics if it was you know but I wanted to stick with things that I've actually watched and I was experiencing and that was fun wasn't it that was so much fun those watching those teams play back then really was so Steve Wood great number one Chicago Bulls six titles in eight years and just dominance yeah um Nick Brown number one my number one has already been said but I'm gonna make it a bigger number one uh from the 1920s to the 1960s the New York Yankees we're talking Ruth murdered to Maggio to mantle like yeah uh decades of dominance it may not be world series wins over that 40 year span but it was they were always feared yeah and it's listen it's really fun if folks if you're ever in New York it's baseball season go to Yankee Stadium like go go watch a game um but if you do get there early you go down and or either way on the first level and go to Monument Valley it it's in center field it's covered with a net it's basically uh just beyond the center field fence and it's just go through there and you're like wow man this is this really is this organization is just historic it's like I'm a San Francisco I'm a Giants fan and I remember when Aaron Judge was uh possibly signing and I was like dude why would judge leave you know it was like oh he's gonna sign with the Giants maybe and I'm like no I'm like no way I'm like I in a million because he was from that area he was close to there a few hours from San Francisco but it's like when you're a player like that in an organization like the Yankees and it would go both ways if he was with the Giants he wouldn't leave because it uh the organization and the legacy that you leave with those organizations if you're a Yankee at that point of his career where he's already dominated it's like dude he's not leaving he's gonna be out there in Monument Valley trust me if you're ever in New York City and you have a chance to go to a Yankee game go early and go check out Monument Valley you'll understand like why players stay there. So anyway all right you can't think you can't think of baseball without thinking of the Yankees no no I mean even around the world I mean no true yep fact um all right Brandon the stuff or sorry sorry ladies and gentlemen Brandon the stuff terrainer very nice what's your number one buddy now I may be cheating a little bit here with this one because my number one is not a team it's one person he was a one man wrecking crew going to the world of golf with Tiger Woods you know what that's he had 82 PGA tournament wins you know what I didn't even think about hockey no I mean it was a one man wrecking crew in the world of golf yeah I and you know what the year that he won them all like that was dominance yeah hats off dude brand you know what this is he's doing this every week on purpose every week he brings from he brings two like this is yeah that's yeah like remind you have a dynasty in the man i like what a great pick brandon hats off again cheers that that's a great that really is just a a that is a great pick yep i wish i would have thought of it honestly i'm jealous that yeah that might be the best one on the list um my number one is the boston Celtics um from 1957 to 1969 they won 11 championships i don't care what the years are whatever but yeah it just that's that's really really really just again that's dominant it's like manchester you uh united it's like dude that's just it's just champ it's just incredible so yeah those numbers don't lie um no and then what we were I looked this up while we were sitting here the Yankees won 10 World Series in 15 years including five straight from 49 to 53 1947 to 1962 honorable mention on my part but somebody did bring it up this is what's great about this is that every every single buddy brings in different ones different lists that's why I love doing these and Brandon with the tiger woods thing that's just yeah you two better start clapping I didn't even I didn't like I said I didn't even think about golf I don't know why but maybe because it wasn't a team sport but it's it's it's exactly it's just the way we think like I so I play golf when I'm off and I'm not working even when I'm on the road when the weather gets nice I'm literally golfing every day when I say every day I mean every day so absolutely it's he it the way he dominated that that sport was insane so I I love that pick that I think that's my favorite pick in this in this week so I think Brandon Brandon gets he gets the picking the pick of the week is Brandon the stuff trainer thank you brandon for the pick of the week what a great job sorry folks I'm I'm a little uh special made a little story here um but no it's you know you rank again somebody said the bulls um you gave the um the Montreal Canadians they won four straight Stanley Cup trophies you know they were my first win season um I said yeah UCLA Bruins the 49ers um throw the Oakland A's in there they had a good 70s, the Cowboys of the Night. There were some great ones. I mean, there just really was. The Islanders again, they won four straight Stanley Cups, and it's like that's that's pretty incredible to do no matter what when it happens. You know what I mean? Like we think about the the length of the season Warriors in today's age. What the five straight finals? Yeah, they won three. I like that's impressive. Like the Warriors won what? Titles in seven years?

SPEAKER_04

Not a single person had a team with LeBron James on their dynasty list.

SPEAKER_01

Isn't that what about the San Antonio Spurs from 99 to 14? Um 15 straight uh playoff appearances and won five titles in that time.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I remember San Antonio during that time. Dude, yeah, it was overshadowed. Remember the Lakers and Portland Trailblazers. Remember those battles like the Blazers? Dude, those were fun. That's when basketball was great to watch. It was. Really, really big, people mentioned for me. The Yukon women's basketball team. Oh, yeah, they're just they were dominant. Absolutely dominant. Um won four straight titles from 13 to 16, and I didn't they didn't lose a game. Remember correctly.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I don't remember that. I can't remember them losing a game. I think they're they were no, but that's what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_01

Like they were that good. It was crazy. Yeah. So anyway, that's our top five, folks. Um, thank you again for uh being with us. Final thoughts, Steve.

SPEAKER_05

I'm just uh we're talking about with hockey once again. It's uh I'm looking forward to the playoffs. Uh the brackets are gonna be interesting. I'm kind of seeing who's gonna close that out. Uh, we should, I think by the time we do the next podcast, it will be uh people have clinched.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah, a lot more people have clinched. So love it.

SPEAKER_04

Nick, final thoughts. The random story. Uh, a quadruple amputee cornhole champion just been uh charged with murder. I just think that just picture it.

SPEAKER_05

How does that have you're welcome? What's the poison them?

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_03

Nothing major, just looking forward to the Carolina hurricanes losing in that first round of and I'll be eating a hot dog while I watch it.

SPEAKER_01

We double double anger from the Steve's already getting hammered. Ruffles from these things. I still drink these Capri Suns. Um, they're awesome. Um, anyway, guys, we'll see you next week. We are going to have again, like Steve said, another week in the NHL is coming. Um, it is getting close. Um, I think by this time next week, um, we will probably have several teams that have clinched. Um, we're excited to get into it with you. We're excited for the playoffs. Um, looking forward to our next week's top five. We're gonna keep it a secret. Which one we're gonna do. Next week we are gonna do top five worst fan bases. So we're gonna have fun with it, guys.
