Hello everybody. Welcome to Full Strength Podcast, episode number 25. We are here. I am in uh Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, currently. Um, kind of a crazy, crazy up and down week. Uh, NHL free agency is open. Um, obviously, we had the draft. I did the live thing at the draft. Uh, there's stuff going on in a couple of different leagues in the WNBA. There's a lot of news. Um, World Cup is entering the stage of 32. Um, it's going on right now. Teams are already into the stage of 16. Um, so uh a whole bunch is going on. I'm gonna do a fun segment today on uh, you know, kind of some information. Just a lot of people don't know what it's like to be a pro golfer. So we're gonna get into a whole bunch of fun stuff. Um, also, ladies' corner is gonna have to do with golf terminology. So we're gonna jump into that. Um, actually, I have some fun stuff for my wife. She's gonna kind of told me some stuff that uh we should talk about. Um anyway, with that, we'll get into uh Steve. How was your week, man?

It's good, it was a busy week, busy work week, but uh been enjoying watching uh some some soccer. Some soccer. Which I don't normally do, so that's been interesting.

My week was up and down, um upside. Vegas beat the the Knights beat the Raiders and the Battle of Las Vegas charity softball game. Okay.

And on the downside, I got kicked off of another golf course. All I did was tell the drink cart girl she had great cans. I don't see what the issue is.

I am uh slightly suffering here in Plague Staff. We got a forced fire about 30 miles away, so everything is got a red hue and smoky, and I have bloodshot eyes. I promise you, I'm not doing anything except podcasting and working. Um, but no, things are great. Kids are in the house and uh got a big parade. Oh, I didn't tell you guys. I get to drive in the parade this year for 4th of July, like a 1950s fire convertible fire truck. That'll be fun. That sounds cool. I'll I'll bring you guys pictures. It's gonna be pretty sick. Kids are gonna ride with me on the fire truck, it's gonna be awesome.

I try to go slow in that thing is going to be a challenge. A department that I once worked for had a old school firetruck and it was parked at our station. And it was like, yeah, dude, those things are hard to drive. There is listen, no power steering is a real like good grief. Yeah, dude. Like it's turn like 18 times to get it to go. And it takes a little bit of English, man. You gotta put some you gotta put some rear end into it.

So it's got this, it's got a school bus steering wheel, you know, so like you can like lean on it and then still grab it. You're like, oh it'll be fun though. Um, I'm actually bringing it back, I'm bringing it driving it back to the house to park it here on Friday.

Oh, okay. All right, good deal. Yeah, I've uh punch my thing. Yeah, speaking of golf, if anybody wants to come to uh Bradford PA, we got a PGA pro am that I'm wanting, I need two guys. I need two guys to play, so it's only $225 a person. All the food and everything is taken care of. So anyway. Um, all right. Well, with that, I'm we'll kind of dive right into this week. Um in odds and ends, we've kind of uh nothing really. We got baseball. Um, we're gonna touch on baseball. Nothing really going on. Um, we're just getting in. The dog days of summer have begun. It's like uh nobody's really separating themselves yet. It's uh no real injuries to report from. Am I missing anything there? Atlanta's not doing so good anymore. No, like I it's again, it yeah, Atlanta was hot. Now they're falling off, right? I think they're like two and eight in their last ten. I did see Atlanta, but uh it's just there's not much going on. It's uh, you know, at least not on our end where we cover every single sport. You know, you can, you know, baseball insiders obviously have news every day and things going on. Um, I will say this this is has to do with a ball player's girlfriend. I think that anyway, uh Paul Skeens has a girlfriend that is insanely, I guess she's I I I didn't really know her, know her, um, but he's dating the uh Livy Dune, right? Olivia Dune. She was a gymnast at LSU. Okay, so now she's like this huge social media star on kind of like a listen, something happened to her at an airport. She gets off of a plane. Okay, she gets off of a plane, she went on a family trip, and there's like 40 dudes walking out with posters of her. I didn't even know she was on Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover or uh in the magazine. They got these blown-up pictures of her in a swimsuit, and all these dudes are like bought tickets to get to the gate and like bum rushed her to get an autograph. I'm like, dude, that is some creepy shit right there.

And there was dudes commenting on this, saying, like, they were like, Oh, well, uh, price of fame, and it's like, nah, man, that yeah, you're the price of fame is if you if you say, Oh my god, I know who you are as you pass on the street.

That's what I yeah, that's I said the same thing. I'm like, dude, these dudes it is stalking. Like, there's no reason for them to know her flying harassment. No, Brandon's right, it's not kind of stalking, it is effing stalking, dude. So, anyway, that's Paul Skeens. Paul Skeen's girlfriend might, I think, might is fame more famous than him. So he's probably like, I don't want to go out, babe. You get too much attention from these weirdos. I'm gonna end up hitting one and I'm gonna end up on Sports Center's not so top ten. Right. Or like what happened to Gavin McKenna and his mom in uh state college after that big game. So it's like, dude, that's yeah, it's crazy. But anyway, uh yeah, nothing really else. I I don't have anything else on baseball this week, honestly.

Um I mean, nothing really. I mean, you could talk about the Cubs are nine and one in the past 10 games, but we can like I said, teams are getting hot and they're not gonna be able to get it. Or like see if the Yankees are losing. It's just the ebbs and flow. They did have like twenty it was like twenty-three to three today against the Padres.

You know what? So the Marlins, it's not just the last ten either. Uh they've been yeah, they've been showing signs of life. And you know what's funny about the Marlins? If you look back, what was it, 97, right? That they won the World Series, and then was it early 2000s? And then they just disappear the next year. So it's like maybe who knows? Could it be the Marlins year all of a sudden? Then they'll just fall off the earth for another decade.

Looks like both Florida teams are doing really well. Tampa Bay is seven and three. The D-Rays, yeah. Six win streak, and then of course the Yankees, which I'm always enjoying to see, and then they are all a seven-game losing streak.

Did you hear Tampa Bay? You know, they want they need a new stadium. That place uh we drove by it when I was on a trip down there. We were going from Miami from the winter classic up to uh go see the Bucks Carolina football game. We drove right by that stadium, you know. Dude, they need a new stadium, but they want to put it back in St. Petersburg, and fans that live over the bridge over the bay in Tampa, they say all the time, like we would go to more games if the stadium was in Tampa, because it's if I've I went over that bridge, dude, for a ball game or like heavy traffic, it's miserable, it's terrible. So I get why people don't go over to St. Pete. One, it's kind of a crap area, and two, why would you put a stadium where people are literally telling you like that place would be sold out every night if it was in Tampa and they want to put the new stadium right there in St. Pete again? I'm like, put it over in Tampa. I don't get it, I don't know. Well, anyway, Brandon, anything going on in wrestling?

No, yeah, uh for a bit indoor event last Sunday. Okay, yeah, crazy event. Every match was a banger, stand out things. You had the return of uh switchblade Jay White to lead his bang bang gang once again. And then you had uh Swerve Strickland, Will Osprey tearing the house down in the main event. Will Ospreay still finds a way to uh defy gravity in his matches. I don't even know how to describe what it is that he did, how he managed to just like launch himself off of like a top rope, or is it like a running type acrobatic move, or what it what does he do? He was being powerbombed from the top rope. Okay, and halfway down it turned into a hurricana where he flips the guy over him in mid in air?

Tell me how you really feel. Well, I mean, honestly, to do the athleticism in in wrestling is kind of insane sometimes. Like the stuff that these guys are able to do is it's like acrobatically alone is insane. It really is.

So we have crazy 10-man cage match, team MJF versus team Briscoe, a lot of crazy hardcore shenanigans. First team, first time I've ever seen an old Nintendo system used as a weapon, including the controllers.

Well, the face team, uh, team Briscoe, uh the teams called the conglomeration. They always walk around with backpacks to the ring, kind of have this like high school vibe going on. So they brought their backpacks, and each of them had like a different thing in them. One of them had an NES in it, and so hit a guy with it, and then they used the controllers uh and whip the controllers on a guy.

Here we go. Um, okay, so uh with that, we're gonna move into NFL. So there was some really, really, really sad news. Uh, Chris Johnson uh played for a couple of teams, but his most memorable season was with the Tennessee Titans, where he rushed for 2,089 yards. Um he died of ALS. Um, ALS He didn't die.

He didn't die. He was just diagnosed with ALS. He just hasn't been in the he no, he's not dead. He has, yeah, he was diagnosed with ALS. This is the first time he's been on the club.

I meant diagnosed. Man, thank you for correcting me. That would have been terrible. I meant diagnosed. I apologize. I just know I know. I it's it it's it's because it's a death sentence. It's you he it's it's terminal, there is no cure for it. Um my grandmother died, uh, did pass. That's also where I was going. So I apologize for saying died. Uh, my grandmother did die from ALS. We watched it. I watched it as a young kid, um, from the age of like uh it was 12 to 14. She made it two years. But the progression of it is just brutal. It's it's a lot like uh it's kind of it's like a it's almost like Guillaume Beret syndrome, which is also terrible, but again, it's different. But it slowly just shuts you down. At some point, you stop talking. My grandmother uh came over and we ordered a pizza from Mountain Mike's. Um, this is in the Bay Area, Santa Rosa, and uh ordered this, ordered a pizza from Mountain Mike's Pizza, and the whole conversation from that night from my grandma, like responding to questions and stuff, was written on this pizza box. And my mom kept it for a long time. Um, but watching a loved one just get taken away by this slowly, it takes away your taste of food, it takes away your ability to talk, it eventually takes away your ability to even lift something up and walk, and then you're bedridden until you die.

Yeah, it's super sad. And to see him in that interview, already in a wheelchair, already using his eyes to pinpoint words to have you know AI computer his voice.

He probably didn't want to be a spectacle. Yeah, and at 39 years old, dude. Like people think he's old because he's always retired from the NFL. It's like, nah, man, remember, athletes they retire very young. It just sucks that this is going on. It's it's also, by the way, folks, it ALS is known as Lou Garrick's disease. Um, it's just it's such a brutal thing that his family's going through right now. And you know, hats off to his kids, to his parents, um, who are possible, I don't know if they're still alive, but I would imagine they're still alive. He's only 39, and having to see your kid go through that even sucks. Just it just really breaks your heart, especially for those that have had a had a you know very close loved one go from it. You know, we called uh my grandmother Moon. It was her name. We it was her moon. We it was our moon, you know, and um yeah, she was such an amazing human being. Now, here's what's crazy too. My grandma was running at 67 years old when she got like diagnosed with this. She was still running miles every morning. She would go down to Cappuccino High School in Millbrae, California, and she would run a mile on the track.

Sucks. It's it's a disgusting illness, and there's literally no cure for it. They know what causes it. It just there's just not a way to stop it yet. And that's the thing that's probably frustrating for people that research it. You know, you get million, hundreds of millions a year, I'm sure. In research, it's like cancer. It's like, at what point are we gonna figure this stuff out, man?

I I mean, our hearts break for you and your family, and it's like just there's people that support you, man. I know that probably doesn't matter, it doesn't help if we're being honest, but it's yeah, we're thinking about you, man. It's it's heartbreaking.

Um, Tyrion Arnold was cut by the Lions because he is accused of masterminding a kidnapping and armed robbery plot in Florida, charges that carry a potential life sentence after allegedly directing associates to lure, detain, beat, pistol whip, and rob three men that Arnold believed had stolen more than a quarter of a million dollars worth of cash and luxury items from an Airbnb that he used. Um, multiple sources say the investigators found group chat evidence, co-defendant testimony, and cell phone evidence suggesting Arnold coordinated the attack even if he wasn't physically present, because they used Zoom so he could look the people in the face that his friends had kidnapped. Crazy activities. Okay.

He has to take the fall for that. Okay. And he knew that something like that was going on, but he also said dog fighting was a normal thing back then, and it was.

It's just again, there's it's you look at some of these sports, and it's just like, oh, what is going on? It's like this is where people start to say, like, it's it's their it's that culture, or it's all it's one race, or it's this, or it's that. And it's like, well, I'm like, everybody grows up differently, man. I you know so and these guys, the biggest thing I always say with with guys like uh, you know, we'll use black athletes, for instance. It's like some of them come from a not so great area and and up, you know, upbringing in an area. It's like you've gotta separate from that from those people.

Main topic this week. Uh it's been a lot of talk um about the WNBA um and the complete and utter absurdity of what's going on with Caitlin Clark. So uh Caitlin Clark was drafted to the WNBA a couple years ago, um, and the league took off. It has everything to do with Caitlin Clark. When Caitlin Clark plays in a game, they have to move the game to an NBA arena because it's sold out. So um there are some very over-emotional women in that league that don't use common sense, apparently.

The level of of jealousy that that this Angel Reese uh player has for Caitlin Clark is crazy creepy. It's like you guys were flying, you guys were flying commercial until the influx of revenue that came in allowed them to now fly private. It's this Caitlin Clark player.

Really cool to see them with their families at the couch and celebrating, getting picked, just really, really great moments for everybody. Um, I I love the Daxon Rudolph pick at four to the Sabres. It's what I do for fun and for relaxation. Um, I've always done it. I do it with quarterbacks in the NFL because there's so much that goes into that. So I I enjoy scouting players. If you miss the cut, guys, you don't get paid. You leave with nothing. So you might have 10, 15, 20,000 into that weekend. You don't make the cut, you go home. You don't get any money.

But imagine being in a slump and there's no paycheck like in the NFL, MBA, NHL, MLB, when you're playing. At least you're getting a check, even if you're in a slump, you're in a slump and you don't make weekends on the PGA tour, you're not getting paid at all. Wow.

No, no, no, no. Stump you, no, it's just a bogey. So in golf, the goal is to have the lowest amount of strokes. That's how it's scored. If you're under par, that's really good. That means if you shoot under par consistently, you are what's called a plus handicap. So, but we're not gonna get into that. The term bogey means you're one stroke over par for that hole. A par is how many strokes it takes to go from teeing off, that means starting the hole, how many total strokes it takes you to get the ball into the hole at the end of that of that hole. Okay, so if it's a par four, that means you have four shots to get it in the hole. So you tee off, that's one shot, then you go find your ball, you hit the second shot, that's two, then you get three and four. Once you've hit your fourth, if it's not in the hole, now you have now you're going for a bogey. A single bogey means one stroke over what you were supposed to get it in the hole. That's a bogey. Now, you can also have a double bogey or a triple bogey, depending on how many times it takes you still to get the ball in the hole. And that is a bogey.

In fact, Ken Griffey Jr. was getting six million, but nobody ever talked about it. It was always funny to me.
