Hello, everybody. Welcome to another episode of Full Strength Podcast. It is episode number 26. We have made it to 26 episodes, almost 30. That's crazy. So um, we have a fun, not you know, super busy week in sports, but we still have the World Cup going. Um, got a few small stories here popping up, like Brandon Iuk and some other stuff that's just kind of maybe positive, maybe not so positive, but uh some stuff we'll talk about on this week's episode. Uh, first, Steve, how was your week, man?
SPEAKER_04It was all right. Storms. Got the eastern storms uh knock out power in the internet.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, how did that go? Pretty wild, huh?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I got a tree on my roof, but that's about uh the worst of it.
SPEAKER_05Man, well, at least it didn't come through the house, huh? Jesus, man, that's nuts.
SPEAKER_04Not yet.
SPEAKER_05Not if you have state farm. Um anyway, Brandon, the stuff. What's up, buddy? How was your week?
SPEAKER_02It's been busy, just working on my class for my masters and rampering why I chose to be a film student in the first place because I hate writing papers.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it sucks. Give me 5,000 words on that rock over there. Great. Anyway, right on, buddy.
SPEAKER_03Nick, how was your week? My week was great. Uh, weekend was good. Kids were with me, and we got to do. I don't know if you guys are gonna be able to see this, but Flagstaff came out with about 10,000 people to watch our parade. There's the fire truck 1953 fire truck that I got to drive. Pretty sweet. It was awesome. I had a blast. Kids were with me the whole time shooting bubble cut bubblegun cannons off the top of the fire truck or ringing a bell, just having a blast. So it was great, great way to bring in the fourth. Great way, great fourth of July.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05I had uh I had fun. I put uh every year in my neighborhood, I take uh like those flags that go into the into the ground. I do the whole neighborhood all the way around, both sides of the street. It's always fun to get I get calls from my neighbors or um when we're walking the dog at night. Me and my daughter, it's like neighbors literally came out of the house to say thank you. I was like, that's kind of that's kind of crazy. I was like, okay, yeah, no problem. You know, it's like just something fun we do. And yeah, we've kind of had fun with that for years now, honestly. And then we do the Christmas basket thing too. So I think they just think we're bribing them for their love or something. I don't know. But uh, yeah, man. I I great 4th of July. We had fun. We were down at we were at my daughter's uh nationals, dance nationals in uh like Harrisburg, uh Hershey PA. Um, got to shoot a couple rounds of golf, and then uh my daughter had her dance competition, which was really cool. So that's where we spent fourth was uh well no back. We were back for the fourth, but that week that's where we were at. It was uh it was a good time. Went to Hershey Park, really cool theme park. So anyway, um yeah, with that, I kind of wanted to bring up a story to start us off here tonight. I've been following this for uh month, I mean, honestly, a month and a half, and uh of course, now this thing goes out. Um there she is. Um, I'm trying, I want to get her name right. That's why I had to reload this, but her name is uh Kelsey. God, I just don't know how to say this last name. It's I think it's a silent P and it's uh Fenler. So Kelsey Fenler did a row from Santa Barbara is where she took off and rode to Hawaii solo by herself. Um the record, mind you, to do this, it's been done, um, but not solo. The uh the previous women's record was 86 days. The previous men's record was 52 days. Kelsey did it in 44.
SPEAKER_00Ooh.
SPEAKER_05So followed her whole journey. She was doing like uh Facebook or TikTok and did the whole row. Um, was up every day. Like she had getting off of the Pacific Ocean as a solo rower, or sorry, off of the uh off of the coast there in California. You guys gotta remember those currents are no joke, and you're going against it. So, and as a solo row, I remember watching her early videos, it was insanely difficult. She was struggling, she had some really rough days. It took her like 11 days to get past that point to where she could catch another current and start heading towards Hawaii. You gotta remember the energy that's in the Pacific Ocean is absolutely insane. You know what I mean? It's like the storms that it produces, it's it's it's so and I'm looking at pictures, and this is not a small rowboat. No, it's not it's not a small rowboat, like a river rowboat. No, no, no, no, Steve. This is a professional row boat. Yeah, it's a professional rowboat. Correct. And it's got a little sleeper at the end where she can sleep, but the bitch of it was like I she she posted a couple videos, and when it's in auto row, basically it's not strong, it's basically just keeping you on your path. The auto row does not gain you ground. If you were to do auto row, you might end up there in two years, so it it's but it's right by where she sleeps, it's just going. Can you imagine trying to sleep through that? It's like so. She had some rough times. Uh, she had to get up and clean the boat with like this floss thing every day. Every couple days, she'd have to jump in the water, get underneath, and kind of you know, take like sea urchins and stuff off the bottom of her boat. Barnacles, things, yeah, things like that. But yeah, so it just what an incredible journey. I I like here's the thing: even as an athlete, this is bigger than that, man. Like, you're taking on the ocean, dude, and the Pacific Ocean.
SPEAKER_04So I'm looking at her GPS route.
SPEAKER_05It's a yeah, it's incredibly off course.
SPEAKER_04Because there's a red line of the inn of where she originally wanted to go. But she has to go with the currents, she went like hundreds of miles away from that original route, right?
SPEAKER_05You have to you have to continue with what the currents are, and there was storms that she dealt with, and so you have to you have to go with the whole current and what it's doing. You have to go with what the ocean, you can have a planned course, but you're not a ship. So you can have a planned course, but you have to go with what the ocean has given you.
SPEAKER_03That's crazy.
SPEAKER_0544 days, you said, yeah, 44 days. She beat the last uh men's solo was 52 days, and she beat that by eight days. So, again, with what I was saying, it as you take on the ocean, it's very athletic, it's very difficult. An incredible athlete, and not just that, but just what a brave human being. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_04Like, yeah, I'd be terrified to do that. It's it's terrifying, dude.
SPEAKER_03I'd be scared to go in a sailboat across the Pacific across the ocean, right? Like over a regular boat. I've been on a cruise ship that caught on fire, so I have fears.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, yeah. My yeah, wants me to go on a cruise. My wife, yeah. No, I've seen Titanic. If you want me to, I'll talk to your wife.
SPEAKER_03I'll tell her one, I'll tell her one story.
SPEAKER_05So you're lucky that you're alive. That's never mind. I was gonna say something about your ex. Um it it you definitely wouldn't have got a spot on the door, Nick. Okay. Anyway, what do you Brandon? Any thoughts on it?
SPEAKER_02No, I say I just loved looking at the way the vessel was designed, how everything was laid out. I think that would that intrigued me the most. It's it really is.
SPEAKER_05I agree. It's a really cool little little vessel. I mean, it really is. So it's just I didn't even know this kind of thing existed, man, until Kelsey. So it just really badass, man. Kelsey Fedler, yeah. I hope I'm saying her name right, is an absolute stud. Debt. Studet? I don't know if I'm saying that right.
SPEAKER_03Hey, how about this? She has brass ovaries.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, there you go. Brass ovaries there, girl. Way to go. Absolutely incredible. So, anyway, uh, moving on to a well, let's just call it a WTF is wrong with you story. Brandon Ayuk, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver, former wide receiver, has gone from like Antonio Brown kind of crazy to Brandon Ayuk crazy. He's there is now a new crazy wide receiver in the NFL. This guy has completely gone off the deep end talking shit to Jaden Daniels, the only team that might take this clown, and is now talking shit to Jaden Daniels, still saying the 49ers missed, like they did me wrong, and it's like I this is absurd, dude. You broke contracts because you have an ego and you were a moron. You drove 100 miles an hour past Santa Clara, past Levi Stadium. Like somebody somebody tackled this guy and knock some sense into him. I I like I don't get it.
SPEAKER_04Where do they get the idea that there's no they don't have to deal with consequences for what they do?
SPEAKER_05I I don't so the guy these guys that act like this, I I don't know. I really, really don't know. This guy has gone completely just full, you know what, and it's like, what is wrong with you, man? Like it's they he's saying it's because they canceled his guaranteed money. He didn't follow through with rehab the correct way. It's it's entitlement and ego, and also it's like I I don't know, but his wife, you know, she runs her mouth too, and thinks he's if he's not careful, he's gonna be black and he's he's done. Yeah, nobody it's not even a blacklist, it's nobody wants to deal with you.
SPEAKER_02Nobody wants to deal with this. I was about to say, you said somebody needs to tackle them, nobody's gonna even want to be associated with them that closely to tackle.
SPEAKER_05I don't, you know, it's funny because you know, like Brock Purdy and George Kittle have you know tried to be at least positive, and you know, it's almost like he's I I I and I don't know. This is all speculation, right? Like, is he meant is it mental illness? Like, you know, T O dealt with that. You know, TO came out later on in his after his career was over and was like, yeah, you know, this is what I dealt with, you know. Um so it's I yeah, I don't know. I don't know. It just it's it's sad almost, I guess.
SPEAKER_02Maybe he's just trying to make a future for him as a TikTok star with all this madness.
SPEAKER_05Maybe maybe, I don't know. It's just like I I just don't. I'm like, why why do these guys like Antonio Brown did it? It's like it's remember when he walked off in the middle of a game and just like I'm out. I think this could that Brandon Ayuk would be capable of some crazy shit like that, or a s like some kind of sideline outburst, you know what I mean? Like Terrell Owens. It was like I don't know. And the thing is, it's like I didn't think he was talented enough to get 26 million. He's a good wide receiver. I just don't think he's I don't even I wouldn't even put him top 10 in the league. No, so I you know, I don't know.
SPEAKER_03It is what it is, but they like it's almost like they fail to realize that it's still a team sport. Like, yeah, it's nice to have all like all stars and like you know, name recognition and etc. etc. But you can be the best wide receiver in the world, but if nobody wants to throw the ball to you because you're a dick, then yeah. I agree, I agree. So there's no I in team, but there's a me.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Ridiculous. So um, anyway, yeah. So with that, we'll move into uh we got MLB. MLB is obviously coming up to their all-star break, I believe, this week. Um always like watching the home run derby. I'm always excited for that, but it's always just a game to me, honestly. I'll watch it, you know. Um been to went to it in Arizona, it was a lot of fun. The whole event, everything was going on. My buddy Dave Nettles, um, somebody I go to a lot of sporting events with, um, out of town, big events, stuff like that. But yeah, he came down. I was obviously living in Arizona at the time, and Ashley went. And um, yeah, Dave and uh his girlfriend at the time were there, and it was it's a great event, it really is. It's just but the baseball part, the home run derby is where it's at, man. That event is great to be at. So it's even fun watching the kids out in the outfield like trying to shag balls and make diving catches, and it's fun.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I love I love the fact that the NFL brought that back for the NFL really has done a good job, Steve.
SPEAKER_05I agree, at revamping that, getting rid of that stupid football game that nobody cares about.
SPEAKER_04I remember I used to love watching when I was younger, like the you know, the skills for the quarterbacks and the receivers and those things during the Pro Bowl, and then they got rid of for like a decade. And now I guess like last couple years they finally bring it back. And yeah, that's what's so great about the home running.
SPEAKER_03I want to know, I want to know who can throw the farthest. I want to know who's accurate on the road. It's just that stuff's fun. NHL has been doing it right for how long?
SPEAKER_05A lot of things. And honestly, the NBA, the NBA skill competition is great to watch. So much three point, yeah, all those. Yeah, yeah. And I've always said like the NBA and the NHL All-Star games really are the best because it really shows off the players and their skill levels. It's always true.
SPEAKER_04People want to see, yeah. They're telling their skills.
SPEAKER_05Yep. Um, but anyway, with baseball coming to the midpoint, let's, you know, give out. We've got the standings. I'm surprised at the Chicago White Sox. Chicago White Sox are two games above 500 and tied for first place with or first place with the Cleveland Indians. Um, in the AL East, you've got the Tampa Bay Rays up four games right now on the Yanks. So Yanks are having a tough time. Boston is making a little bit of a run. They've been hot going into the all-star break, and the dog days, I can we see a socks resurgence in the AL East. I think that might end up being a really fun September in the AL East. I really do. Um, Tampa Bay also, just a little side news, is looking to approve a Tampa side stadium. Uh, brand new stadium, state of the art. Uh, prints look beautiful. Um, if you haven't found it, go Google it. Um, the best thing about Tampa Bay, their fans, the biggest bitch about going to games over in St. Pete, going over the bay, is the bridge. The traffic is so bad. Fans that even would like to go to games have said, I just don't want to deal with the traffic. It's that bad. Um, as somebody that's been through that area, it sucks. Like that bridge that goes over from St. Pete into Tampa is just it's brutal. And it's always it's got cones out the last two times I've gone through there, and that's three years apart from each other. So um the stadium is proposed to be built right next door to Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. That area is perfect for a stadium, and it could use another one. It's just very open, the streets getting in and out of there are great. Um, and fans have said in the reaction that they would be really happy to see a stadium in Tampa. They would go to more games. So, anyway, but uh yeah, what do you guys think? Who's hot? Who's gonna make here's my question What do you guys think? Who's gonna make a run in either the AL or the NL? Who's gonna make the biggest run up the standings in the dog days?
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna go with the I'm actually gonna go at the Minnesota Twins.
SPEAKER_05The twins, okay, explained. They are doing well right now, they're playing well, they're seven and three in their last ten. I mean, third place.
SPEAKER_02They're only two games back be from the lead. And it the AL East or the AL Central's a little rough, but yeah, it's a little rough, but everybody's pretty packed together. I mean, who is it? The Tigers are only five games back.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I mean, dead last is only 10 out.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so that's a crazy division, but I can see them pulling it out.
SPEAKER_05That could honestly, yeah, you're probably right. When it's that close with all five teams, it could be a really fun race to the division. I agree.
SPEAKER_02I'd say pretty much the Dodgers have everything locked up on their end. I mean, they got a 14-game lead currently.
SPEAKER_05Wow. I know. No, they'll lose to somebody in the NL in the NLCS. Who else? Who's gonna do it? Oh man. Yeah, I I mean also I think Milwaukee's gonna, they're starting to run away with it too. They really are. And we know the cobs are just so 7-3.
SPEAKER_037-3. Uh we almost swept the Orioles. We uh we lost three to two today. We almost swept the Orioles.
SPEAKER_05Could have been eight and two. It could be worse. You could be a Giants fan. I I don't know what's wrong with that team.
SPEAKER_02Yesterday was Negley Day for the Giants.
SPEAKER_05Dude, it's so bad right now, Brandon. Brandon's a Giants fan too. I it I don't know what it is. I think they're just having a bad year. They're developing some young guys. I think it's just it's gonna be okay. I really do. I I I think it's gonna be fine. They they're they've they're signing good players, but they're also dude, they're they're developing so many prospects, and it's like I think it's gonna turn in the next couple years for the Giants, but we'll see. It's just not their year, though.
SPEAKER_03No, I'm interested to see if the uh I just I feel bad for the National League West because there's other teams like the Padres and the Diamondbacks that are show signs of promise, but they're stuck behind the Dodgers 15 games and 14 games.
SPEAKER_05Are playing so bad though, Nick. I see, I mean, yeah. You know what I mean? It's like just a few years ago, the Giants beat the Dodgers and won 107 games in the NL West. It's just right now, it's just these these teams aren't they're they're just yeah, it's it is what it is.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, because everybody else in the National League is at or above 500, are the all but two teams.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04And then you have the NL West where everybody is almost below 500 except for the Dodgers.
SPEAKER_05I there's so many, there's so many people out there that are saying, like in San Francisco, they're like, oh, it's the it's the manager, oh Raphael Devers is a cancer everywhere he goes. It's like we don't know. Like you watch him out on the field, they're all having fun when they win. Like it's just they're just having a tough year. That's all it is. People want to make so much out of nothing. It's like, dude, relax. So yeah. But anyway, I I kind of like uh I think Brandon Brandon's right. I think I like the NL Central or the AL Central, sorry. I think it's gonna be fun. I think it really will be a fun little race there. Say what you want about their records and stuff, but and then uh god, the AOS is the A's are having the A's are so bad right now. Like they're one and nine in their last 10, but they're just they're playing rough ball right now. And they're in fourth place, they're only five and a half out. So, and then the Angels, well, the Angels are are really bad. But uh, yeah, it's it's it'll it'll be interesting.
SPEAKER_03It'll be fun, but you know. Much deserved break. I mean, all these teams that are playing poorly, that have you know, they're just gonna get a week off. So the season's so long, too, Nick. It's like it's never no. It's like it's hard for I mean, it's hard for me to stay. This is sad to say, it's hard for me to stay engaged in even Cubs baseball for 162 games. Like I I can't. Like it's uh it's almost like I just kind of tracked, see who's how we're doing, who's you know, and then all star all-star break, all-star break, and then like, okay, now we're getting serious, gotta get some momentum. Yeah. And see, but you look at some of these teams, like you said, that American League West is rough.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it is. And you say that, you know, it's funny. If I if I was old, like 70, retired, I could see myself having living in a s or near a city within driving range. Of having baseball season tickets, I would absolutely go to every every game. Like I would try to make it to every game. I would sit there and keep score. I would love to eventually be that old mad, old man that does that. You know what I mean? I 100% would. You guys cannot say that I would. No, we definitely know you would. No, we 100% agreement. One, yeah. Watch, I'd go to every single game, and yeah, I would just be that I would be that guy. There goes old man Brandon again. There he goes with his scorebook. That would be me. I'd be okay with it. You know, I would have two seats in case somebody wanted to come with me, but I think that would probably happen maybe 20 games a year. Now, I'll give Ashley credit. Like, if we were retired and we were in that spot, she would probably come to a lot of them. She really would. As long as the seats were to her preference. So in the dugout with the players or in uh club seats with a waitress. Those are your two options. Dude, she's enjoy your enjoy your retirement, buddy. You have no idea what a ticket snob she is. I swear to god. I'll I'll show her like on the phone and I'll be like, look at these are these are great. These are center ice, they're like 10 rows up. She just she'll just look at the picture and be like, no.
SPEAKER_00And literally give me that look.
SPEAKER_05No. And she'll she'll get she'll be like, oh let me see her phone. And so I'll give her the phone and she'll she'll she'll be like, these are great. And I'll be like, they're eleven hundred dollars a piece. We don't even like what and she'll be like, oh well here, these are okay. And I'm like, it's just like she's ridiculous. It's like, yeah. Yeah. Which it's okay. I got I actually got her to sit upper level first row, and she knows those are the best seats in hockey now. Don't let her lie to you. Oh, for sure. Those are the best seats in hockey. Center ice, upper level, first row. Feet up on the rail, especially if you like to watch the game and all of its makings. Like the way watching the plays develop, there are no other seats that are that good. I I love it. If I had season tickets, that's where it would be. And there's a reason why. If you look at season ticket prices for hockey, those seats that I'm talking about are like top three or four most expensive seats. Three or four behind uh Glass Club and like center ice club in the lower level, and it's probably third, yeah. Wow, or rightfully so actual, then it's actual club seats, you know what I mean? Like in the club section, and then it's first row upper level, like they're more expensive than 90% of lower level seats. Like, honestly, look it up. So, yeah. Um, so NHL, let's move on, unless you guys have anything else.
SPEAKER_02Not yet. We'll have more in detail.
SPEAKER_05Not yet. Yeah, I know, right? Um, okay, so there is some hockey news. Um, we do have a little bit of hockey news. I don't know if anybody saw this, but uh Connor Bedard and Macklin Celebrini, they work out, they spend a lot of time together in the summer. They've done this since they were 15 or 16. 16, I think, really. But they grew up together as um in this, you know, playing against each other with each other, everything. So they trained together a lot in the summer over in uh in North Vancouver. They were skating at a rink, doing like you know, zone drills, and Connor Bedard took an awkward edge and went down and hit his shoulder. Connor Bedard is out four months. He had successful shoulder surgery the other day and will not be ready until mid to end of November. So he will miss a couple months of the season. There is talk about that and a lot of commentary going everywhere. How hard should these players train? And what should they listen, dude? This is no, there's nothing wrong with what happened. He took it.
SPEAKER_04No, but the the biggest question is because I guess last season he had surgery on his other shoulder. It's hockey. I agree, it but that's what a lot of the talk is about, is because now he hurt his other shoulder and he's gonna get out more.
SPEAKER_05This is why they don't disclose injuries, is what I was gonna say. This is why because it creates bullshit commentary, man. Do you know how many surgeries these guys have? You don't, because they don't they don't they don't announce it. But I guarantee you there is players that have surgery every year. Something to repair. It's just too tough, it's too hard of a game, man, to go through 82 games. It's it just is what it is. You know what I mean? It destroys your shoulders, it really destroys your shoulders. Um it just yeah, but I get it. Uh you want to protect your your your your star, but I guarantee the blackhawks don't put like any crazy restraints on them, like some people were saying. So Nick, you look like you're pondering something.
SPEAKER_03No, I'm just uh I'm listening to you while I'm also verifying some things. Yep. You're good.
SPEAKER_05Thank you, Brandon. Go ahead. You look like you have something.
SPEAKER_02The Golden Knights had injuries till after the finals ended.
SPEAKER_05Right. That's true. All the the playoffs do that every year. It's fun when the when the list of injuries come out from the playoffs, and you're just like, that dude fucking played with that. Yeah. Yeah. Like I'm sure Braden McNam had to have surgery. Took a puck in the face. So it's yeah, man. It's it's really brutal. And it's and it's insane.
SPEAKER_04Apparently, Leo Carlson's becomes the highest paid player. Okay.
SPEAKER_03What?
unknownThe ducks.
SPEAKER_03Two teams that offered him that much. He's staying. The ducks matched it. Matched it. That's crazy.
SPEAKER_04Five year 90 million. Okay.
SPEAKER_05Ah man. So here's the question, boys. Is Leo Carlson should he be the highest paid player in the NHL? Absolutely. No. Okay. No. No, I'm sorry. Whoa, whoa, whoa. You don't know his financial needs. He's yeah, he's a great, he's a great player. They're all gonna want to pay. He's a great player. But I would take a bunch of players over him. For sure. Namely Will Smith, Macklin Cellebrini. Yeah, there's I'd take Igor Chernesoff over Leo Carlson. Like he's got he's a 30-goal player. It's like I okay. You know. Yeah, they said it was a lot of debate. Jason Robertson over him. I would take just so many guys over him. It's dude.
SPEAKER_03His career high was 67 points.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, well, he's he's got 67 points.
SPEAKER_03I know, but still.
SPEAKER_05It's not like Macklin Cellebrini at 19, you just put up 115. That's my point. You know, or when Sidney Crosby did 120 at night at 19, 19. And it's like, dude, no.
SPEAKER_02He's also never scored 30 goals.
SPEAKER_05He hasn't hit 30. Well, that's I mean around 30. I'm saying, like, I'm saying he's a capable, like he's a 30 goal a guy year, a year guy. Maybe 40. I don't know. We'll see how his career goes on. But 19 million a year, dude? No. The problem is. Here's a conspiracy theory for Nick. Here's a conspiracy theory for Nick. I'm listening. He loves he loves these. So Leo Carlson calls somebody in the front office and says, Hey, I just need you to make me an offer because I think the ducks will match it. And say and says, I want it to be 19 million a year, and they say, okay, yeah, sure. And so they offer him an offer sheet, five years, 90 million, so the ducks will match it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you got that's that have to be like somebody with the same last name in the office to make that kind of deal.
SPEAKER_05No, no, no. He does, he like he has a friend over there or something, and they're like, hey, do this for Leo. No, I'm saying, like, there that's that's the conspiracy, right? Maybe he does.
SPEAKER_03I don't know if I'm buying it, but I think the I think the Flyers, I think the Flyers wanted him. I do.
SPEAKER_05It's still crazy, but yeah, maybe they did. They probably did. They the Flyers have an incredible young team. You add Leo Carlson in the mix, and it's like, oh, the Flyers, Flyers might be good enough to make it all the way to the Eastern Conference Final next year. Definitely a second round. They'd definitely be a second round team. That team is young, hungry, and really good and really fast. That's it's why I picked them to beat the pens. And watching them play in person, that was a great game that I went to in the playoffs. But it it's yeah, man. I don't know. But it's like that's what everybody's like, holy shit, what's Maclin Cellebrini's contract gonna be? What's what's what do you guys think?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's what I was gonna say is it's gonna mess up everybody's who's gonna be signing contracts the market.
SPEAKER_05Oh, it wrecked the market. The market's gonna go, yep. So and it's gonna be hockey is finally catching up to the 21st century. It's gonna screw up all the team's cap space and well, the sharks next year will have 90 million available.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Then a couple years after that, they won't, though.
SPEAKER_05No, but that's that's what they're that's what they're trying to do. They're gonna lock up all these young guys. That's it's it's utterly insane. So I I meant to send this to you guys. I think I forgot. Hang on, I'm gonna bring it up right now. Um, these are this these guys are doing this series. Um, let me find it. Here it is. Um James Miller hockey. It's like players with the brightest future in the Pacific Division, they're gonna do each division. And so uh number one is Macklin Salabrini for San Jose. Number two is Ivar Stenberg for San Jose. Number three is Leo Carlson. We'll now be saying in uh Anaheim at number three. Um Seneca for Anaheim is at number four, Will Smith, number five for San Jose, from San Jose. Um Kater Gaultier is number six for Anaheim, number seven from San Jose is Michael Misa. Number eight from San Jose is Verhoff. Number nine from San Jose is Igor Chernesoff. Number ten from Calgary is Nimik. And then number 11 is Chase Reed from uh the place for will be with Seattle in a year or two. Um Carells will be with uh Calgary, the Calgary Flames in a couple years. Then you got Byfield. I'm still mad in San Jose traded him. Um number 13 for LA. Um Bernier obviously from Seattle at 14. Clark from LA at number 15, um Minchukoff, number 16, Anaheim, number 17, uh Pereca. He's gonna be a monster. Number 17 from Calgary. Um, I never know how to say this name. Buyam, the defenseman from uh Vancouver, number 18, Sam Dickinson, San Jose, number 19, and Manny Malhotra, number 20 for Vancouver. That's the top 20 in the Pacific. That that Pacific division in, I mean, I'm talking two years.
SPEAKER_04It's actually a good list.
SPEAKER_05I mean, it's gonna be San Jose and Anaheim. I mean, they're uh I don't even know. Like it's exciting in San Jose. Like, San Jose should be pumped. This team is gonna, it's it, it's gonna be something we haven't seen in a long time. Like, they're just gonna be that dominant. I I don't and then it's like I'm not even talking about their current goaltender, Askaroff. Like, they've got a kid right now that just turned nine, that's gonna be 19, that looks they haven't seen they some people are saying they haven't seen a prospect like this since Brodeur. Wow. At his age. Like they're like, this kid might be better than Martin Brodeur. And that's crazy to say. So the Sharks took him number 30 overall, I think, in last year's draft. They drafted him when he was 17. It's uh Joshua Ravensberger. So he actually got goalie and rookie of the year in the WHL, I think, this past year. He's in the WHL. Uh, not rookie. I think he was already a rookie, but yeah, he was goaltender of the year. His stats were just freaking ridiculous for a kid that age to be dominating major junior already is like Jesus. So but it's gonna be interesting. But it really is. It's gonna be fun to I think it's gonna be fun to watch him this year. San Jose and Anaheim going, they're they're going they're going up. So but I definitely think it's gonna be we're gonna see San Jose make their playoff return since 2020, and then uh yeah, Anaheim's just they're gonna keep getting better. I and here's the thing, I'm gonna say this right now, and you guys might disagree. I think you're gonna see a down, I think Montreal might not be as good as they were. I just have a weird feeling that they're gonna have like a step back year. Probably not, but it's like an outside. I just have a weird feeling about it. Like that might be the team that kind of makes just like a misstep. They're gonna be in the playoffs for years to come. They're great, they really are. So, especially with that goalie. What do you guys think?
SPEAKER_04I mean, for the Canadian, I mean, yes. Uh, I mean, but it's I think it's uh it's hard to say because I mean they're good. There are a good team. I don't see them not making the playoffs.
SPEAKER_05No, I'm not saying that, Steve. I'm just saying they're gonna be like maybe a hundred-point team, not like 112, 115, 116, like some people are saying. That's what I I don't think Montreal, I don't think they they would have to really screw up to not make the playoffs. They're just you know, they're that good. I just don't I think you're gonna see a bit of a slide. That's all I'm saying. Like, not I'm saying it's not gonna be like an uptick year, it's just a weird, I I don't know. Brandon's rolling his eyes, so what are you rolling your eyes about?
SPEAKER_02No, just that you know, I have that same sort of feeling in a way, but about Columbus Blue Jackets, just because we really see it's been very quiet from them, like yeah, they didn't really it's weird how like there's no news or anything that's been coming from them at all. It makes me wonder what's going on.
SPEAKER_05I think they're happy. I really I I know I I hear what you're saying. It it's but I feel like they're happy with where they're at. That's why I Columbus should have been in the playoffs the last two years. They they gotta figure out I know, but remember Buffalo had this problem, and now Buffalo is, I think, gonna be in the playoffs every year. Brandon, it was like they they just weren't everybody was like, Oh, there must be something wrong, there must be something wrong, what's going on in the rooms, like this, that, and the other. And it's like, well, they're not changing anything. I said, with Buffalo. So obviously they knew that it was just they had to figure it out, and I think that's I've I think that's where Columbus is at. You could be right though.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's what I was getting to, though, that I think they're the opposite of Matreel and that they're gonna be getting into the playoffs and maintaining the players.
SPEAKER_05Oh, I'm a dickheaded interrupting. Sorry. Yes.
SPEAKER_01I'm such a brick.
SPEAKER_05Oh my god, Brandon. Let us finish.
SPEAKER_00I'm sorry, dude.
SPEAKER_05I'm such a jerk off. I apologize. Wow. Okay, ladies and gentlemen, now taking the foot out of his mouth, Brandon Michael. I'm so sorry, dude. I I maybe I thought you were done. I I don't know what went on in my brain.
SPEAKER_02So anyway, Brandon is uh Brandon is uh But I'm expecting so I'm just saying I'm expecting some big things from them next year. And as we edit back into the show, I totally agree.
SPEAKER_03No, raw cuts.
SPEAKER_05Um we all deal with. That's it. Oh my oh. That's it. That's a TikTok video. I can't believe I just did that. Yeah, I Brandon. I okay, yeah. I I agree. I think again, I think I'll reiterate. I think they just need to figure it out. You know, I think they're gonna, I think they're great. I love a lot of I love Adam Fantilly. Um, obviously Warwinski is an absolute monster on D. I think they need to, I I think their goaltending needs to get a little bit better. I think that's one of their issues. But yeah, I love Columbus. I think they're gonna be great. So that was awesome. Oh that's great. Nick, anything else?
SPEAKER_03Uh I mean, I've I feel like I'm an idiot because I just keep saying the same thing, but I'm still waiting to see what the hell's gonna happen with Dylan Larkin. What is gonna happen with are they are they trading him?
SPEAKER_05They've said that it's it's been confirmed.
SPEAKER_03Would you not trade before? I mean, with the kind of draft class that they had, they could have traded him before the draft. They didn't. There's he's obviously not happy. The Red Wings as an institution is not very happy, not with Dylan, but not making it to the playoffs. So if it's maybe get rid of him and pull in some big name or uh something different. Yeah, and they haven't done sh haven't done anything. Um, so I'm still waiting to see. Like part of me now thinks that he's gonna make Dylan play. One more year. Give me one more year and I'll show you type thing. You know, Eisenman sitting there in his office. So I don't know what's happening, but I'm waiting for that shoe to drop.
SPEAKER_04Well, apparently it's expanded to four teams now that are looking at him in a trade. Dallas Stars, Minnesota, Florida, and the Knights. Okay. Or looking who want to look at the I'd be surprised if Florida still has anything to give.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so it's like they have nothing to give.
SPEAKER_05Neither does Vegas. I guess if they do like a trade and like Red Wings maintain some of his salary, you know what I mean? Like, I don't know, because Vegas still has to fill holes, you know what I mean? Like, from guys that are leaving.
SPEAKER_02I I can also see him going to the stars, though.
SPEAKER_05Uh yeah, but Dallas, they're working that deal with Jason Robertson, who's being super greedy. Maybe maybe maybe he wants out of Dallas, who knows? You know what I mean? I I don't know. That's it's interesting. But at the same time, that's kind of it's kind of Vegas' mo, right? Like they they trade away younger guys or you know, draft picks to get legit players, established players, yeah. They they've done that. They're that's what they built their whole organization on. So it that that could make sense, right? So sure. Well, we'll see. We will see. So anyway, uh moving on. Um, let's get in. Uh NFL. We've got just what three god, not even three weeks until NFL training camps open up. So here it comes. It's coming back. The craziness of the NFL season, the rumors, the nonsense, the spring or the uh training camp stuff, but that all starts again. Injuries. The injuries, yeah. Um, brand the Brandon Ayuk saga. Oh no, let's not go there again. Um, anyway, we've got uh oh, you can't see it.
SPEAKER_0311 days, 16 hours, 52 minutes, and 26 seconds until football starts. Oh, the couple of things. Not that I'm counting. Is that training camp starts that early? Yep. NFL training camp starts in 11 days.
SPEAKER_05That would make it what day? The 20th?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05The 8th, the 19th. No, the 20th. 20th. Wow. Well, the first game kicks off with the NFL, the Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio. Great stadium. I've driven by it, never gotten to go, haven't gone yet, but um, so with that, Steve, why don't you tell us who is going into the Hall of Fame this season?
SPEAKER_04Oh man, that's a great list.
SPEAKER_05Drew Grease.
SPEAKER_04Awesome, Larry Fitzgerald, absolutely first ballot. I've always loved it.
SPEAKER_05Great human being.
SPEAKER_04Luke Keekley.
SPEAKER_05Awesome, awesome, awesome back.
SPEAKER_04And uh Adam Benateri.
SPEAKER_05Obviously, the golden leg. He won how many Super Bowls? Walk. Off two.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it was a ridiculous amount.
SPEAKER_05I know it was two for sure. The first one against the Rams for the Pats, and then he beat Carolina. That was 32-29. Amazing Super Bowl. Amazing Super Bowl. But yeah, Vinateri's leg was gold. Listen, Drew Brees, I I mean, won a Super Bowl, was the MVP. I I mean that dude was legit. Just absolutely legit. So uh absolutely well deserved. Uh, my favorite on that list, I think, is Larry Fitzgerald. Just what a dude, man. What anything. Arizona loves that man. Well, he was loyal. He was loyal to him. He could have laughed.
SPEAKER_04What's that? All four of them were loyal. I mean, they played on uh for decades, you know, for each team. So uh I think this is a great class. I mean, I'm surprised that Drew Brees actually got in so early because then he just retired.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, him and Fitzgerald both made it first year. First, first ballot. He's a first ball hall of famer, dude. Yeah, oh yeah, he's top five in like everything, all time. Like he was incredible. So yeah, I I I agree. I think it's one of the best lists we've had in a long time. You uh left the name off, Steve.
SPEAKER_03You had one. Did you say running back Roger Craig?
SPEAKER_04Oh no, I didn't see his running. No, I didn't see that one.
SPEAKER_05Because he hates the 49ers. Because they they own his division. Come on.
SPEAKER_04I'd have to say Seattle owns the division.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, your mom goes to college. Um, anyway, Roger Craig, former 49er, first thousand, thousand in a season running back, thousand rushing yards, thousand receiving yards. When Christian McCaffrey did it, Roger Craig said, quote, meh, been there, done that. Now, man, that's it, that even adds to the prestigiousness of this list. The fact that it took him this long to get in is kind of embarrassing, but um, you know, how many championships was he in? I mean, I I know the uh the 49ers, obviously, they you know, yeah, he was part of those teams, and I think people sometimes forget about Roger Craig because of you know Jerry Rice and Ronnie Lott and Joe Montana and so Steve Young, all that, but awesome list, man. Yeah. I still I just yeah, Fitzgerald, what a dude, man. He's just such a such an absolute gamer. You know what I mean? He's just yeah, he's fun to watch. Got to watch a lot of his games.
SPEAKER_04Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Um, when I lived in Arizona, I had season tickets to the Cardinals for three seasons. It was it was awesome. So but uh anyway, yeah. Excited. Brandon, what do you think? Who's your favorite?
SPEAKER_02My favorite's Finanteri.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Tickers win games, and he won the biggest games.
SPEAKER_05He really did. Yeah, I like I said, I could think of two for sure. So, but uh awesome. Obviously, NFL is gonna start taking up more time on this show. It's gonna be a lot of fun.
SPEAKER_04Um, just yeah, there'll be a lot more arguing, I think, with the NFL versus the other other sports.
SPEAKER_05Look at Steve's, look at the look on your face. Man, you're a scumbag. You're looking forward to confrontation.
SPEAKER_04Absolutely. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_02How great the bears quarterback is.
SPEAKER_04I always love playing the devil's advocate when it comes to football.
SPEAKER_03He's not gonna be good. Why did you just bring up Caleb Williams? That's it's like a low blow, it's unnecessary, and nobody's gonna talk about the Bears. We were making fun of Steve.
SPEAKER_02I was gonna talk about how great he is.
SPEAKER_05I was literally about to say Steve with this stupid look that he does. Yeah, you look like a retard. Um, anyway. So look at Steve. There's the look. Almost he didn't quite give it to me all the way, but uh that was hilarious bringing up Caleb Williams the next reaction.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it'll probably be a lot of conversations about Caleb.
SPEAKER_05Oh man, it's gonna be every week. Every week I want to hear the show. Oh my god. Yeah, I it we're gonna oh we're gonna have to give Brandon a raise on the editing. So anyway, with that said, yeah, folks, it's it's gonna get it'll it'll get fun. So if you're not subscribing to this, you should be. There's gonna be so much ball busting. If if it goes either way, it it's it there's gonna be so much ball busting. Steve's gonna just both you two, Steve and Nick, you're gonna Can you imagine if the Bears win the world win this the Super Bowl this year?
SPEAKER_03Do you imagine if the Bears won the World Series? Well, if the Bears won the World Series at half at half court. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_05On the ice Nick, how is that ever gonna happen? It's it's not this year. Is Baggett gonna get into is he gonna be the quarterback?
SPEAKER_03He's not my starter. Nope. We're going with the Iceman, baby.
SPEAKER_05Okay. Um, so with with that, let's just let's quickly move on to the World Cup. We're sorry about that, folks. That's you know, I understand if it gave you trauma.
unknownSafa.
SPEAKER_05Anyway, World Cup. We are uh officially into the Final Eight. Um, USA lost, um, but like just absolutely beat down um 4-1 by Belgium.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I don't even they shouldn't even came that it showed up.
SPEAKER_05I didn't get I didn't I honestly I I'm not even gonna try to lie. I didn't I didn't get to watch it. So Steve, go ahead, man. Oh, I watched it.
SPEAKER_04It was bad. I mean, it was just there was so many mistakes.
SPEAKER_05Dude, let's just talk about the goalie. Oh, the goalie goalie in the group chat that we have, Nick was going off about the go, what happened? I didn't even see a highlight. So, what what happened?
SPEAKER_03It's not a highlight, it would be a low light. Um Belgium, uh USA was trying to pressure, they were trailing two to one. Um yeah, team USA was losing two to one. We were pressuring, and Belgium cleared the ball. And since everyone was in there except the goalie, the goalie was well outside the box, about halfway between the edge of the box and midfield. Okay, and he was like, Oh, I'm just gonna kick it right back to some of my homies and so we can keep the pressure on in the offensive zone. And he didn't know how to use his feet all of a sudden, and he bobbled it, booched it, and it kicked directly to a Belgian player who will remain nameless because I don't know his name. And he just booted it as soft and as hard or as hard as he could from about midfield and just went, goal.
SPEAKER_04And because he was so far out of position.
SPEAKER_03The goalie was like Yeah, it was bad. Shit.
SPEAKER_05Wow, it sucks. But there was a lot of mischief. I mean, that's one goal, though. They lost three, they lost four to one. It's I don't know. I didn't see the last goal.
SPEAKER_04Um there was one offense, on passing, on turnovers. I mean, there was just stupid turnovers.
SPEAKER_03They did not look good. And then did you hear what Belgium was reported as uh saying in all their interviews after the game? No. They were like, overturn that. Because they they overturned the ruling on uh the red card. That's pretty good burn.
SPEAKER_05They should have overturned that red card. It was a terrible feeling.
SPEAKER_03The only problem was is that we're a host, we're a host country, we're Americans and we're already loud, and we don't we call soccer, we call football soccer, so what do we know? Um and it's never been done in the World Cup, but it got done for us.
SPEAKER_04It's like oh Americans. So it looks bad.
SPEAKER_03It looks bad, but at the same time, it absolutely should not have been called the Red Cup.
SPEAKER_05I love it. I absolutely love it. Yeah, we're Americans, yeah. We are bad. We're awesome, so suck it. But it's okay that we lost. Went to the round of 16, it was a battle for the round of eight. Congratulations to Belgium. Awesome job. They're great. Um, they're gonna get absolutely annihilated by Spain, and cheers. Yeah, but uh Spain knocked out uh Ronaldo in the round of 16, and Ronaldo retired, so he's done with World Cup and Argentina Spain is so awesome that they put Ronaldo, they beat Ronaldo into such submission that he retired. He couldn't handle anymore. So kudos to Spain.
SPEAKER_03Did you anybody watch that Argentina uh Egypt game? I saw uh notifications about it. They were down two to zero, like with not with running out of time, and they ended up with three unanswered. The game tying goal for their second was Messi's like sixth or seventh goal of this World Cup, something ridiculous.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Um they tied England, right? No, no, no. They they beat Egypt. Egypt. Yeah, Egypt, yeah. I'm currently reviewing. So three unanswered goals to win. I mean, that's in soccer. All in the second half. Pretty big deal. Yeah, wow. Wow, and France has already moved on to the final four. Yeah, they beat Morocco today. Yeah, and then tomorrow is uh Belgium Spain. So France will play Spain. Um I want Norway English. I want Norway beat England.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, that Norway England game, everyone should watch who's paying attention to our podcast because that'll be possibly well, it's gonna be a great game regardless, but it might be the last time we get to see the rowers at the uh start of the game.
SPEAKER_04No, Norway's gonna win. They're gonna beat it. Oh, he's gonna kick their ass. We'll see.
SPEAKER_05The blonde Viking news movie.
SPEAKER_01We love you, Amsterdam, good night.
SPEAKER_05Anybody name that movie? I love watching Holland.
SPEAKER_01Uh no? We love you, Amsterdam, good night. It's Jim Carrey.
SPEAKER_05Oh.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_04I haven't seen that in like 20 years, man.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, most people don't quote Ace Ventura 2.
SPEAKER_05Alrighty then. Oh alrighty then, Nick. Um is Argentina's gonna beat Sweden, right?
SPEAKER_03Switzerland. Switzerland, sorry. Uh, I would assume Argentina's gonna move past Switzerland pretty easily. I don't even know if Switzerland's ever made it to the the quarterfinals. Hold on a second.
SPEAKER_05Switz Switzerland got into the round with a 0-0 tie. They beat Colombia in kicks. This I'm no, go Argentina. Disgusting. It's absolutely pathetic.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I still don't even quite understand that whole zero how you can win with a zero-zero.
SPEAKER_03Well, go to the city. I mean, to be fair, to be fair, it's the same thing that happens in hockey. If at what happens if you're scoreless after three?
SPEAKER_05Well, it's a terrible the the shootout. I hate the shootout, but they did a shootout.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, they do yeah, three kicks, so it's it's the equivalent of a shootout, and they won like four to three.
SPEAKER_05All right, then definitely go Argentina, go Switzerland, and they have hot, they've they have better looking girls. So anyway. Maybe possibly over Argentina? Yeah, maybe not. Maybe it's a maybe it's a close, maybe it's a tie. I'll go with another tie. But it's two tens. You both get tens. All right, anyway. All right, who's who's in the final four, Steve? Go besides France. France already won.
SPEAKER_04Oh shit. Um Argentina, Spain. I think it's gonna be I think it's gonna be the usual cast. I'm hoping it's gonna be uh Norway with Norway over England.
SPEAKER_05Okay, yes. Alright. Who wins between France and Spain?
SPEAKER_04Unfortunately, France.
SPEAKER_05And then who's who like France is a really good team this year? And then who's beat who's winning between Norway and Argentina?
SPEAKER_04Hopefully Norway, but most likely Argentina. All right, Brandon, and Francis will take the whole thing.
SPEAKER_05Oh, he's giving his prediction now. No, you think France over Argentina?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, France is a good team, man. They are just well-rounded.
SPEAKER_05Brandon, who you got?
SPEAKER_02Yes. Next round, I got Spain, Norway, and Argentina. Okay, got France and uh Argentina meeting in the finals. Okay, with France winning also. Wow. I don't know if you've noticed, but France has not given up a single goal.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I have not noticed because I don't watch games with the team France playing.
SPEAKER_02Well, yeah, nobody since tournament, since it's not got well started, nobody has seen fair.
SPEAKER_03That's fair. Um, I have the same. I got France, Spain. I want Norway to go. I think England's gonna win, but I want Norway to win, and then Argentina with Argentina winning the whole thing.
SPEAKER_05Okay. I thought you were gonna say Caleb Williams, but anyway.
SPEAKER_03Um see this is why you don't bring up the name, Brandon.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Brandon, Jesus.
SPEAKER_03No, I'm yelling at both of you.
SPEAKER_05Um I've got I've got Spain against France, I've got Norway beating Argentina or uh Norway and Argentina. Norway will beat Argentina, and France is gonna go and Norway is gonna win four to one.
SPEAKER_04And now that would be the scenario I'd love to see.
SPEAKER_03Absolutely, I'd love that. Vikings? Hell yeah, freaking literally.
SPEAKER_05Norway's winning the World Cup. That's it. Anyway, so uh let's uh move on to let's see here. Let's get through it here. Um, real quick, one more fun little thing that I wanted to do tonight. Alright, guys, you have to have you need a strikeout, bottom of the ninth World Series, you got one out. Are you picking? Who are you picking in this scenario? Okay, Ricky the Wild Thing Bond, Billy Chapel, Kenny Denues from the Sandlot, he was the pitcher in the Sandlot, Kit Keller from a league of their own, she was Gina Davis's sister, she was the pitcher who liked the high ones. Henry Rowengardner, Ratman Boozer, Raging Hoser! Get in! Henry Rowengardner from Rookie of the Year, and or Nuke Lelouch from Bull Durham.
SPEAKER_03There's only one right answer.
SPEAKER_05Steve, who you got?
SPEAKER_04I would have to go with the wild thing.
SPEAKER_05Wild Thing Vaughn. Yep. It also didn't say if this was Billy Chapel from his prime or Billy Chappell the night that he threw his perfect game. Oh I would take it a stuff trainer. Who are you putting in?
SPEAKER_02I'm going with the nuke.
SPEAKER_05Nuke Lelouche. Making him go out there and just his drop strap. Is it is it yeah, is it nuke Lelouch that throws it up into the second level, or is it Nuke Lelouche who's refined because Crash Davis did him? So you're going with Nuke Lelouche. Um, I think I'm gonna go. I'm going with Ricky, baby, Ricky Wild Thing Vaughn and that heater.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_05And Nick Brown picks up. I guess you'd have to go.
SPEAKER_04Is it is it Vaughn with his with or without his glasses?
SPEAKER_02Is it far from each other? Vaughn.
SPEAKER_05Oh, it's it's full power Vaughn.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you need three pitches from Vaughn. That's easy.
SPEAKER_05I know you're gonna take Ragen Hoser. I'm not. I'm taking the only one that's going to give me one strike. He's from the one that put on the water. The only thing that would be better if he was wearing a Caleb Williams jersey. Ricky the wild one, Vaughn. Nick just hates his life right now. Excellent, excellent choices, everybody. I like I like Brandon's answer with Nuke Lelouche. Just put one into the press box. Oh, that's awesome.
SPEAKER_04See, the rookie wouldn't be a bad choice, though.
SPEAKER_05Oh man. Yeah, maybe. Um, all right, so to close us out tonight, we are gonna do top five soccer movies. Ran out of time to do a couple of the other things, but um, yeah, so we'll do top five soccer movies tonight. That is gonna be our top five. We've done a lot of we've done what top five hockey movies, we did top five baseball movies, we have not done top five NFL or football movies.
SPEAKER_03No, but can I say that I have completely screwed up the hockey movies and that I should have put Strange Brew on my list? What have you never seen Strange Brew? I've never seen never even heard of it.
SPEAKER_02That's an amazing movie, but I wouldn't call it hockey. The white and black teams?
SPEAKER_03Yes, I know that happens in it, but I mean it's not the I give you two gentlemen and the top two of my squares, Brandon Michael and Steve, homework. I would like you to at least attempt to watch Strange Brew. And if you need me to send you a DVD, I have one. That might be too Canadian for him.
SPEAKER_04All right. No, that's good cast, though.
SPEAKER_03Dude, just wait. There's not anything, huh? It's Rick Moranis, and what's his face?
SPEAKER_02Dave Thomas.
SPEAKER_03It's a great movie. You should watch it once. It's about two drunk Canadians. Just go watch the movie.
SPEAKER_05Oh my god. How many times do they say A? A lot.
SPEAKER_03They say A before the MGM Lion roars. Oh my god. Stick your thumb up its butt, eh? Stick your thumb up its butt, eh?
SPEAKER_04Wow. Yeah, I've never even heard of that movie, but uh.
SPEAKER_03I I challenge you, gentlemen, to do some homework.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_04I'll leave it up here.
SPEAKER_05Man, okay, strange brew.
SPEAKER_02Oh make sure to have a beer while you're watching it.
SPEAKER_05What's that?
SPEAKER_02Make sure to have a beer while you're watching it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you should drink while you're watching it.
SPEAKER_05Is that like a total necessity?
SPEAKER_03Well, that's what they're doing in the movie. And it'll make the movie funnier.
SPEAKER_04In their quest for free beer.
SPEAKER_05There's a mouse in my beer, Hoser. That is definitely not a. That is no way that that is a yeah. There's I'm sorry, but there's no way that that's a hockey movie. But I I can see why it it sounds it still sounds like it's as d- Oh my goodness.
SPEAKER_03I am excited for you to tell me how much you love that movie next week. All right.
SPEAKER_05All right, sorry. All right, sidetracked. So with that, so we'll get into our top five greatest soccer movies of all time. This is our opinion. Let us know what yours is. Steve, what is your number five?
SPEAKER_04Uh well, first of all, I have to say there's a lot of bad soccer movies. So terrible.
SPEAKER_05I watched two of them, and they were effing stupid.
SPEAKER_04Uh, because I was going through the list and I was like, I remember watching some of these movies, and a lot of them I didn't make it all the way through because they were just bad.
SPEAKER_05So bad.
SPEAKER_04Um, but and you know, for my number five, I had to put Ben with Beckham on at number five, at least the last one. Because for a soccer movie, it's one of the better ones.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I I've got one. I was, you know, I did some initial research, and there was one that I loved that wasn't even on any lists, and I'm like, well, that's that's that's that's just makes soccer that dumber. So and not dumb, I apologize. I shouldn't have said that. Brandon the stuff trainer, what's your number five?
SPEAKER_04You get a lot of angry comments on that one.
SPEAKER_05If we were if we had a ton of if oh man, it would be bad. Go ahead, Brandon.
SPEAKER_02This was a pretty easy list for me because looking for all the soccer movies, I've only seen five.
SPEAKER_05So I I hadn't even seen five. That's why I said I had to watch a couple of movies, man.
SPEAKER_02So uh number five, I'm putting the big green from nineteen ninety eight. Steve Gutenberg.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Basically the mighty ducks on grass.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah. That was most 90s kids sports movies.
SPEAKER_03With the freckle with the freckle faced kid, the catcher from Sandbox.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yep. Uh that's a great number five because it is mine also. I completely agree. The big green. My list for clarity are only movies that I have seen. And I'm very proud of my list because I've only seen these five movies.
SPEAKER_05I've now seen a few more than that, but yeah, my number five was Bend It Like Beckham. Um it it's it's definitely uh, you know, it's alright. So, Steve. Steve, what's your number uh what's your number four?
SPEAKER_04Picking and screaming. Oh man, yeah. I love that movie.
SPEAKER_05It's only at four? I I had it higher too.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, well, I mean you know who I am.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I know who you are. You're the juice box guy. You're a juice box guy. I'm thirsty. Go get me a juice box. You're the juice box guy. You're out of your mind. Yeah, Will Farrell. Yeah. Great number four.
SPEAKER_04I wanted to put a non-comedy a little higher than I got you.
SPEAKER_05No, fair enough. Brandon, what's your number four?
SPEAKER_02My number four from 1992 is Ladybugs, which I don't think is actually that great of a movie, but I love Rodney Dangerfield, so he pretty much carries it.
SPEAKER_05It's a phenomenal, it's a great movie.
SPEAKER_04It's a horrible movie.
SPEAKER_05Sorry. It's a great movie.
SPEAKER_04I mean, Dangerfield does make the movie both.
SPEAKER_05Nick, what's your number four?
SPEAKER_03Uh, I'm gonna read you a one-sentence of uh just outline of the movie and see if you can guess what it is. Because it sounds a lot like the young longest yard to me. A football star jailed for assault leads a group of inmates in a match against prison guards.
SPEAKER_02Mean machine with Finny Jones.
SPEAKER_03It's yeah, it's literally the longest yard. Yeah, I love that movie with soccer. I've never seen it.
SPEAKER_04It's actually a really good movie. If you haven't seen it, watch it. That's if Jason States has been it too.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it's not better than the lady ladybugs, though.
SPEAKER_04Have you ever seen the mean machine?
SPEAKER_03No, don't give yourself too much homework that you can't golf. Did you have a movie to watch? I'll never do that, Nick.
SPEAKER_05All right, did you like the Mommy Shard? Mean Machine. Oh, yeah, great movie. You would like Mean Machine Machine. Yeah, we'll see. Um better than ladybugs. Um my number four was the the big the big green machine, yeah. Big green. Steve, what's your number three?
SPEAKER_04Uh Goal, the dream begins. It's the only non-comedy one that I have on my list. What was it?
SPEAKER_03I've never heard of it.
SPEAKER_04It's called Goal, the Dream Begins. The dream begins about an immigrant that uh gets picked up by an agent to uh it's basically a heartfelt movie.
SPEAKER_05Yep, okay. It was that was my number three.
SPEAKER_04It's a really good movie, it's slow as shit.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, that was my number.
SPEAKER_04But it's a really good story.
SPEAKER_05It is. That was my number three. That was one of the movies that I watched this week. So I was like, this isn't bad, it's not terrible, but Brandon, what's your number three?
SPEAKER_02My number three I already said. I put bend it like Beckham.
SPEAKER_05Bend it like Beckham. What'd you like about it?
SPEAKER_02No, I just uh I liked you know, just a good English story. I like the the actors. It's just uh fun what happened nightly. Yes, it's cheese bugs. What's your heck?
SPEAKER_05What's your number three?
SPEAKER_03My number three is Ladybugs because that's where ladybugs begin. Or that's where they belong, right in the middle. They're not that great of a movie.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_05We already heard my number three. Steve, what's your Steve? What's your number two?
SPEAKER_04Mine's technically not a movie, but it's Ted Lasso. Ted.
SPEAKER_05Perfect. Come on! Brandon the stuff trainer.
SPEAKER_02My number two is Fever Pitch from 97 with the great Colin Firth.
SPEAKER_05Okay. I haven't seen a movie. It's a baseball movie. Fever Pitch is a baseball movie.
SPEAKER_02It's a soccer soccer movie.
SPEAKER_05It's no, it's got Drew Barrymore and this is oh same title?
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_05Same title. All right. Uh Nick, what's your number two?
SPEAKER_03My number two is from 2001. Shaolin Soccer. Because what you need is some kung fu and soccer. It's a young Shaolin follower reunites with his discouraged brothers to form a soccer team using their martial arts skills to their advantage.
SPEAKER_04Brandon would not like it because it's like a fantasy type of.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it's all good. Yeah. Everybody has different tastes, Steve. My number two is kicking and screaming. Will Farrell and uh and Mike Dick Dicka are absolutely uh pure. I know, Nick. If Mike Dicka was coaching the Chicago Bears right now, Caleb Williams would be better. Okay, so would he though?
SPEAKER_04Would he?
SPEAKER_03No. Can I mute you guys? No. Just point it, point at me when it's my turn. I'm gonna mute everybody.
SPEAKER_05Kinging and Screaming is a hilarious movie. You're juicebox. Yeah, I know who you are. You're the juice box guy. Go grab me a juicebox.
SPEAKER_04That's like I really like Winnie.
SPEAKER_05All right, Steve, what's your number one soccer movie?
SPEAKER_04My number one is Mean Machine. It's a really good movie.
SPEAKER_05All right, good deal. Number one, Brandon the Stuff Trainer. What is your number one?
SPEAKER_02My number one is Shaolin Soccer with a great Steven Chow. Without that amazing movie, we wouldn't have gotten Kung Fu Hustle, which is one of the greatest movies of all time.
SPEAKER_05Right on. What did you like about that movie?
SPEAKER_02No, the just the way they incorporated the Shaolin is like having superpowers in soccer.
SPEAKER_05Right on. It's good stuff. Nick Brown, what is your point? Sorry.
SPEAKER_03I have to unmute you. There we go. My number one, you jerks, is kicking and screaming because Mike Ditke is the best coach of the Bears of all time.
SPEAKER_01Oh boy.
SPEAKER_03Oh if we would anything else?
SPEAKER_05Or can I mute you again? Let me guess. If Caleb Williams was the quarterback in 1986, they would have won back to the I'm done. Alright, my number one is the best soccer movie of all time. It's called The Ladybugs. Rodney Dangerfield takes his future steps on and makes him dress like a girl. Wasn't there another soccer movie where the you know, with I think Chad Michael Murray was in it and uh Amanda Bynes before she went nutso for nutso puffs?
SPEAKER_02Oh no, and she's the man. She's the man. That was a soccer movie. She dresses up as a brother. Was that a soccer movie? It was like had soccer in it, but it wasn't like about the soccer. It wasn't a soccer movie. He's a wrong guy. Okay.
SPEAKER_05I was like, okay, all right. Anyway, yeah, he gets uh his future stepson who's a soccer star on the boys' side, just gets him to dress up like a girl and goes and just dominates and they take the league title. But I think he ends up like his mom gets mad, and anyway, it's a good movie, it's the best soccer movie out there.
SPEAKER_00So here we go.
SPEAKER_05Everybody's gonna hammer me on that one now. So with that said, that's our top five this week. Um, don't forget to like, follow, and subscribe. Um, like I said, everybody, if you're listening and watching this on YouTube or a clip on TikTok, uh it's definitely gonna get more and more interesting as we get into football season. So um a little more combative. Little a little more combat. Yeah, great. Great. With that said, Steve, final thoughts.
SPEAKER_04Final thoughts? Shit, I don't know. Uh watch the rest of soccer. That's about the only sport I'm playing right now, besides Major League Baseball.
SPEAKER_05Which is awesome, and golf.
SPEAKER_04No one watches golf but you on this podcast.
SPEAKER_05Sit down on a Sunday, relax with an iced tea, or if you drink, drink a beer, and watch. Just watch.
SPEAKER_04And then I'll end up taking a nap.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, and then I'll sleep. I'll be back. You'll wake up and it'll still and it'll still be on. And you can watch you can watch how consistent they are and how awesome it is, and you can pick up.
SPEAKER_04Why are you always quiet when there's if I can't just be quiet?
SPEAKER_05Because it takes concentration because you're having to concentrate on five or six different things at the same time.
SPEAKER_04That's why I like Happy Gilmore.
SPEAKER_05He's like, Yeah, come on, crown.
unknownOh gosh.
SPEAKER_05I personally I don't I don't care. I don't even like honestly, I don't even golf with music. I you know, I hear I see people at like public courses, they'll they'll be like driving, motherfucker's not music blaring. You can hear it three holes away, they're completely hammered. I'm like, what is like that's how golf needs to be played. That's what I do.
SPEAKER_04That's the only way to play golf.
SPEAKER_05Oh, yeah. That's why I it's honestly I can't I can't stand getting stuck behind a group like that.
SPEAKER_02Smoking my cigar out on the course. That's okay.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Being on a tree.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05That's also okay. I mean, that happens. You just go in the woods. Yeah. I'm looking for my ball. I'm sure you look for a lot of balls.
SPEAKER_02Uh it's here. It's here's gonna take me a minute to look.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, Nick Nick Brown gets that from the Caleb Williams fan club. Um, the stuff, final thoughts. I'm done. Nick, that's my last thing. That's what you said four times now. I'm done. Yeah, I'm done. All right, I've heard a five.
SPEAKER_02Final thoughts, but one more thing. Uh to my channel on the NHL side. We got Ovechkin coming back for his 22nd season. So we didn't say that. Yeah, you're right. I didn't hear that nice. I don't know.
SPEAKER_05I I I don't know. If he's we're gonna see. I I was gonna I'm sorry. Thank you for bringing that up, Brennan. Just real quick. I if he goes out and scores 40, he's only gonna be like what 30 something away at that point. I think he's sitting at 926 right now.
SPEAKER_02Sound like that.
SPEAKER_05Steve, double check that real quick while Nick gives us his final thoughts for the week.
SPEAKER_03My final thoughts are I'm sorry, I'm a Bears fan.
SPEAKER_02Never apologize for that.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, don't be don't be so don't be sorry.
SPEAKER_04I mean, just that a Caleb fan. That's kind of what we're worried about.
SPEAKER_05No, it's okay to be a Caleb Williams fan.
SPEAKER_04It's you know he's got 929 goals.
SPEAKER_05Yep, 929. He goes out and gets 40 this season and is sitting at almost at 969 and 31. You don't think he's gonna come back and try to get 31?
SPEAKER_04He's only second among active. Who's got number one?
SPEAKER_05What do you mean, second among active for what?
SPEAKER_04Uh most goals. That's our most points. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_03Oh, you're looking at points. Currently, most points. 929 is goals. 929 is just goals.
SPEAKER_04I was just reading. He says he has the second old uh most active player in points. So I was wondering who was.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, what's yeah, look up, look up Sidney Crosby might have him in points. Maybe not, but I know Crosby's Crosby's up there. I mean, he's got 600 something goals. So I think Crosby will hit 700 when it comes to goals, but it it might be points. So I don't know. But anyway, uh final thoughts already gave him. Um listen, go out, jump on YouTube, subscribe, TikTok, give us a follow. Um and it is Sid, Sid the kid. Yeah, he's still got, I mean, Sydney's got what probably two more years left. So I mean the pens aren't gonna do anything. Almost a hundred points ahead. Yeah, the pens are just yeah, they're you know. I don't think I don't even think I I wouldn't even have him in the playoffs next season, but we'll see. So anyway, thanks everybody. Great week. We'll see you next week. Don't forget to like, follow, and subscribe. YouTube, TikTok, and this podcast. Thanks everybody. Have a great week. Hope you're happy and healthy. Later.
