SPEAKER_03Daily comes away with the fuck stolen away by Camponi. Camponi scores! Camp Pony Club! Michael Camponi breaks the goose egg! My Oxford hitch shot! Stop by gambling! Rebound that stop too! They gotta left that on it! It's no butt cart! Locking right in! Snow the buck cart! Flocks it's fucking scorr!
SPEAKER_00And now, the voice of Airdre Hockey, Chris Klein.
SPEAKER_03Hey, what's going on, everybody, and welcome back to another episode of AEHC Weekly. Episode 9. We're closing in on double digits. It's amazing how time flies. And speaking of time flying, a lot of teams are wrapping up their seasons and their playoffs. We'll get into that a little bit later on. And then we got interviews, of course. We got two good ones for you on deck this week. We have Kevin Gamlin, the goaltender for the Airdrie Avalanche. We talked to him during their skills competition. And then also the U18 AA female lightning. We got Chelsea Coates and Ava Smith. They do a dual interview. A lot of fun with that one. You're going to want to tune in. And before we start with the rest of the show, I just want to give you an opportunity to hit that like and subscribe button. Our numbers are continuing to grow. The amount of support that this podcast has gotten is just absolutely amazing. Thank you so much. And we just want to continue to grow this thing, keep the wheels moving. I think we only have about two more in my calculation podcasts left before we end for the summer, before we come back next year. So you don't want to miss the final two episodes. So make sure you hit that like and subscribe button. So let's take a look at the week that was a lot of action around the AEHC. But let's take a look at it with the weekly recap. U13AA Lightning wrapped up their season with their regional round robin tournament. Unfortunately, they lost all their games, but tight, low-scoring games where they lost 3-2 at the hands of Red Deer, Benson Marshall, and Weston Clarkson. The goals in that one. Then they lost 4-1 to the West Central Tigers, Peyton Kippen, with the goal in that one. And then an 8-5 loss against the Bow Valley Timberwolves, Sam Jolly, Grayson Sterfak, Aiden Ball, and two goals from Weston Clarkson. Their season is now over. Heck of a season there, boys. Hopefully, we'll see you back around the rink next year. The Extreme U-15 AAA are done as well, as they suffered a two game to O sweep at the hands of the first place Red Deer Rebels. They lost game one by a score of eight to three. Austin Campbell, two goals in that one, three assists for Charlie Dean. And then game two, they lost at Ron Evanson Arena. Let's take a look at some of the highlights. What a shot by Madden D-No. His fourth of the plum. And he's got the icebreaker here from Evan. Wait from Blockheart. Has a plug roll off of his nickel on the minute. Nice move by Colopsis. Longly pass. Right as break block card! Here comes Blockcard Ride in Blackley Scalp. Rider Black Mart! First night of the block! Slipping up with one with 1139. He'll play it into the milk, kicked out by Dean Tunnel, right? John! As I believe it might have been tempted from and just as soon as the extreme has tied this one up. The Rebels will take it back, and it looks like it's gonna be Jagger's drums. First of the playoffs. And it's now two-one with 11-05 left to go. Tough shot there. Buried Eli Moore did not see that one. Dude, thought of a one-timer, and then he'll stop his shot off of the stick of already laying out in front. Austin Campbell takes a one out of it. They score! The power play clicks! As Asta Campbell will bully it home. And the extreme will get one back. As it's now five to two with 627 left to go here. In the first frame, as he will have control. He plays a backdoor. Still with a shot. He scores! Look at no! Look out! Here comes the comeback. It's now five to three with 409 left to go. As heels left to pull a low to his own devices in front as Salter was able to get him the puck. He'll put a pass Varney. That's Snow's second of the postseason. Final five seconds left to go. And that will do it. The Red Deer Rebels will move on here into the second round of the playoffs, defeating the Airdrie Extreme. Two games to nothing in this best of three. That game is closer than what the score would indicate it. They were down 5-1. They came back to make it 5-3, and there was a big, big save that Red Deer's bully made right after Keen Snow made it 5-3. And I thought they were going to come back for sure. Heck of a game, boys, heck of a season. It was an honor to get to know you guys and also to be your play-by-play guy. Hopefully, we'll see you guys around the rink next year, whether it's for the extreme or for the abs or for the bisons. It was an honor once again to call your games this year. You guys are great young men, fantastic hockey players, and I'm excited to see where your careers go. The Airdrie Avalanche wrapped up their regular season last game with a 7-3 loss at the hands of the Calgary Flames. Kevlin Gamlin stopped 34 shots in that one. Got two assists from Marcus Adamchuk and also a goal and assist from Andrew Fleming. Owen Foreman won the overall points with 44 and also assist with 34. The Dishmaster for the Avalanche. Marcus Adamchuk won the Rocket Richard for the Daves with 17 goals. But they started playoffs yesterday. Game one was in Calgary against the Calgary Bulls, and the Avalanche skated away with a huge 5-2 win. Matthew Moore, two goals in that one. Also got goals from Lucas Kempen, Marcus Adamchuck, and Joe Barton. William George got the win in between the pipe stop and 33 shots. This one is going to be a tight series. They went 1-1-1 against the Bulls this season, losing their first game 9-2 way back on October 22nd. But they had a 2-2 tie on January 3rd and then a 3-2 overtime win with Hudson McDonald scoring the overtime winner. And I remember that game, that was a gritty win where they only had two regular defensemen on their back end and they were still able to come away with it. Game two will be on Saturday, but we'll get to that in the week ahead. The U16 AA Lightning lost their final regular season game by a score of 6-3 to the Calgary Bulls Hockey Club Hawks. William Doltree, Ethan Bouchard, and Call-Up Austin Campbell got the goals. In that one, Hudson Schneider stopped 50 shots in a losing effort. The U18 AA Lightning played their playoff round robin last weekend. And it was a little bit of a strange one where they won 3-2 against the West Central Tigers, two goals for Bradis Simpson. Uh in that one, Cecil Wenham with the other goal. And then they tied their next two games. A 3-3 tie against the Central Alberta Select, Tyres Cook, Jet Fedork, and Cecil Wenham with goals in that one. Riffin Ruby stopped 29 shots, and then a 4-4 tie against the Red Deer Chiefs. Zach Harder, Seth Vinson, Braden Simpson, and Tyres Cook with the goals in that one. Got 44 stops from Roman Kozlik. They were down four to two entering the third period. They were able to come back and tie it. And then they suffered a 2-1 heartbreaker in the playoffs to the Bow Valley Timberwell Wolves in OT. Griffin Ruby stopped 34 shots. They got the only goal from Jackson Freeman, and their season is over. Gentlemen, I know what you're going through right now. I suffered a heartbreak in my final season as well. They had a lot of grads this year who are going to be continuing their hockey in junior somewhere. I'm sure of it, whether it's with Junior B, the Alberta Junior Hockey League, BCHL, wherever you go, gentlemen. I called some of you guys when you got called up to the bisons and the avalanche. You guys are heck of a hockey players. Thanks for allowing me to come in and interviewing some of your teams and your head coach as well. But their grads this year were Declan Johnson, Luke Lytle, Zach Harter, Jackson Freeman, Jet Fedoric, Marcus Simpson, Braden Simpson, Seth Vinson, Ethan King, Kasen DeJorrier, Noah Keynes, and Tyrus Cook. Good luck in your hockey careers, gentlemen. Hopefully you can look back at your time playing Air Dream Minor Hockey with a smile and remember some of the good memories there. But let's get into the interviews with those U18 AA females, the captain, Chelsea Coates, and leading goal scorer Ava Smith. This one's a fun one. Enjoy the interview. Hey, what's going on? It's Chris Klein, and I am ringside after practice with two of the U18 AA female lightning, Chelsea Coates and Ava Smith, the captain and the leading scorer. Ladies, how's it going?
SPEAKER_01Uh good thanks. Pretty good. I just got pegged.
SPEAKER_03I had noticed that. So tough, tough practice out there. Chelsea, um knocking the rust off a little bit out there. How are you feeling after that practice?
SPEAKER_01Like I should have skated more before this practice.
SPEAKER_03Ava, what about you? How are you feeling?
SPEAKER_01Uh I'm actually feeling pretty good. Had a tough workout over the weekend, but I thought this bounced my legs back into shape. So feeling pretty good after that. Fired up. Fired up.
SPEAKER_03So, Chelsea, I'll start with you. This is your third season with the uh Lightning in the Lightning organization. You've had a huge explosion in points this year. You almost doubled your point total. What has changed this year? Uh, was it preparation, just a little bit more confidence out on the ice? But what allowed you to take that next step offensively?
SPEAKER_01Uh, I think pure enjoyment, to be honest. And I've had an opportunity to play some really good line mates this year. Um if you didn't pick up on it, me and Ava play together. It's been a highlight of my season for sure. My other line mate, Brynn, we've had to play majority of the season together. But overall, we have such a committed team. It wouldn't matter who you're playing with. You generate so much offense when you're enjoying when you're having fun.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and Ava, you finished two points ahead of Chelsea for the point lead as well, but you had a fantastic season. Have you guys been able to make um talk about your chemistry out on the ice? Uh is it easy to find Chelsea in those spots? Is it do you do you know that the puck's always going to come to her? Um, you know, if you sneak off in the slot there, just talk about playing with Chelsea.
SPEAKER_01Uh yeah, we definitely have our ups and downs, but a lot more ups than downs. Uh Chelsea is a very sneaky player that'll sneak into the slot where I can find her, pass it out front, and she just rips it.
SPEAKER_03So, Chelsea, uh, you're running the C this year. What kind of leader are you? Are you uh lead by example? Are you more vocal out there? Um, do you stand up in the room when words need to be said? What kind of leader are you?
SPEAKER_01I am very out loud and passionate, you could say. Um something's not going great, I'm the first one to say something. If something's going great, I'm also the first one to say something. Um I love I would love to lead by example, but I lead more with just care for every girl in the room. I want the best out of all of them.
SPEAKER_03Ava, let's start at the beginning. Where did this love for hockey come from? Who got you into hockey? And what was one of your earliest hockey memories that you have?
SPEAKER_01Um, my mom and dad uh put me in Learn to Skate and said if you like it, you can continue next year, and if you don't, we're stopping. And I loved it ever since. Um my earliest hockey memories is this is probably a story of my first goal, uh November 2016. Something like that. Um don't remember how it went in, but I got a puck in my room with it. Um and then yeah, ever since then I've just had big passion for the game.
SPEAKER_03Chelsea, same question. What's your first memory of hockey?
SPEAKER_01Um, I played ringgett for the first two or three years of ice sports, and I ended up switching over to hockey because my first shift in ringgit one season, I got three goals, and that was the max at that age. So my dad just told me I could score as many as I could in hockey. So I moved over, had a terrible year. The next year I had like 130 points in Adam. It's the highlight of my hockey career.
SPEAKER_03Oh my hundred and thirty points in Adam. I don't think I've scored that in my lifetime. That's incredible.
SPEAKER_01My grandma paid me a buck of gold.
SPEAKER_03Making some cash out there. I like it. Absolutely. Taking my grandma to the bank. I like that. Um, so you know, female hockey is huge nowadays with the P uh PWHL. Um, Ava, what player do you kind of want to emulate your style? Whether it's a female hockey player, male hockey player, what player do you see out there on the ice room like, man, I wanna I wanna play just like that?
SPEAKER_01Um, obviously Connor McGavid. I just like his fast go get it playing attitude. Skates with passion and is always first in the pocket. I always try and get in there to be first, work my hardest every single shift, every single game.
SPEAKER_03What about you, Chelsea? Who do you try to emulate your game after?
SPEAKER_01Oh, my biggest idol ever is Leon Dry's idol. I give anything to be like dynamic duo.
SPEAKER_03It's starting to make sense, but I gotta ask this question. Don't tell me you guys are both Euler fans.
SPEAKER_01I definitely am. I'm 100% committed.
SPEAKER_03Um so you know, playoffs are coming up. You guys have had a week off, you had a very successful season. What's the vibe in the room uh heading into playoffs right now? It was a ton if you guys were you guys on the team last year? Yes. So you guys lost in the second round last year. What is kind of the change in um the change in focus this year to make sure that doesn't happen and make sure you guys are rolling into provincials, which we'll get into.
SPEAKER_01Um well this year I could tell you there's a lot more nerves in the room. There's a lot of girls that haven't played on this team, and this year you can tell there's a lot more passion for the game. I think it's just as much about the fun, but we want to win, and it's very evident.
SPEAKER_03Ava, what is the biggest strength that the lightning do very, very well when you guys are playing lightning hockey? What does it look like on the ice and what it how how does success look like?
SPEAKER_01Uh lots of energy, uh skating hard both sides of the ice, uh first the pox, just that like shoot first mentality.
SPEAKER_03Shoot first mentality. Chelsea, when you look back on the season, when you look uh back on your time as an airdree lightning, um just playing for this community, what what are you gonna remember? What are you gonna remember about your time playing minor hockey here in Airdry?
SPEAKER_01Um, I've said it before and I'm gonna say it again. Hockey gave me a place where I belong. It has ever since I grew up, and the amount of family that I've created on ice and off ice, especially this season ending on this note, no matter where it ends up, is gonna be phenomenal in a memory I'm never gonna forget.
SPEAKER_03Ava, same question.
SPEAKER_01Uh yeah, definitely the people that I got out of this season, last season, just the bonds we build. We got a strong group, and I'll just remember the everyone picking me up every day at practice, at games, no matter what.
SPEAKER_03So you guys are playing Calgary next round. You guys have, you know, had success against Calgary this season. What do you gotta do to pick up a victory? What do they do well that you guys are gonna focus on to take away?
SPEAKER_01Um, they've always been a hard-working team. Calgary comes out and surprises us every year around this time, and Play Off Locke is another animal. Uh we don't really know what we're getting ourselves into yet, but we can estimate that it's not gonna be very easy. We're gonna come out strong though. The game that we need to play is we've played it before, we played it against them, we went five for five this year in our series with them, and that goes to show that we can beat them. We just need to make sure we're bringing our A game.
SPEAKER_03Couple more questions there, ladies. Uh Ava, let's talk about your coaches uh being out there. Just what have they meant to your development this year? Um, of course, we have the head coach standing right by us. Um, but what are the coaches here out there, they're getting into drills, they're ha it looks like it's they're having a lot of fun. Just what does it mean to you have coaches like that um help you with your development?
SPEAKER_01Uh it's a m like the coaching staff, absolutely amazing this year, super supportive, helpful. Like they today, rough practice, but they somehow managed to make it a little bit fun. Kept the spirits high, the music playing. Like they just keep me in a good mood and keep me going and push me to where I want to go next year.
SPEAKER_03So you guys got provincials coming up. Um, I know it we gotta get serious with the conversation now. Um, you got you guys have uh provincials coming up. You want to win your way in there, you don't want to just be the host. But how excited are you guys um before provincials? And what do you guys need to do to make sure you're playing the right hockey going into provincials? Well ask Ava. Um, how excited are you going into provincials?
SPEAKER_01Uh so excited. Um how I think we need to like get there and like we need to stay focused and everyone needs to buy in and be willing to do whatever it takes to win.
SPEAKER_03100% get pucks deep, all that jazz. Chelsea, what about you?
SPEAKER_01Um, I'm I'm so excited. I mean, especially to play my third year, my last year of minor hockey to get to host. It's awesome. I'm really excited for my own bed too. Um, but it all starts in the dressing room though. It is all about the culture, it is all about the energy that we create. We could play terribly, but if our energy is high, we're unstoppable.
SPEAKER_03Okay, girls. I'm gonna give you an opportunity now to kind of get back at some of your teammates here that might have annoyed you a little bit over the season. So I'm gonna ask you a question. And you're gonna give me a player and a reason why. And please do first names, last names, just so uh we can we can figure out who it is. So I'm gonna ask you guys both the same question. So, Chelsea, I'll start with you. Who on the team has the worst style of music?
SPEAKER_01Worst style? Music. Oh shoot, this is a tough one. We only have one girl that plays music in the dressing room.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so I'll ask this. Who's on the aux and should they be on the aux corner playing music?
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, but yeah, she should be on aux crazy hand, number four. Playing some music, she's been on it for a couple years now. Always, always brings a good tune. If you can't hear right now, we're playing country music in there. We got the showers running. It's an after practice uh ritual for the games. We play everything, everything on the planet, I swear.
SPEAKER_03I I noticed you guys were playing a little party rock anthem when I walked into the ring. Really getting into it. It was great. Available asking you this. Who talks the most trash on the team out on the ice?
SPEAKER_01On the ice. I'm gonna say, yeah, I've got two. I think either number five, Layla Veal, or number 12, Brittany McCoy. But it like it really depends who the other player is. Can I name drop like other girls? Like Ruby? When it comes to Ruby, uh Brittany's mouth is running.
SPEAKER_03Okay, who talks the most trash, but who is able to back it up when they're playing on the ice?
SPEAKER_01I think if Chelsea Coates number five talk trash, she would number six.
SPEAKER_03I'll cut this, I'll cut this. It's not being caught.
SPEAKER_01No, number six. Chelsea coates, if she talks trash, I think she can back it, cuz I like I wouldn't want to mess with her if I was Okay, Chelsea.
SPEAKER_03Who on the ice thinks that they're Connor McDavid, but they're clearly not. Why Ava?
SPEAKER_01She horriforms me.
SPEAKER_03Ava, your reaction to that.
SPEAKER_01The amount of times I've tried to horrify and fall.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so Ava, I'll ask you this. Who complains about the rest the loudest? Or the most? No, I can't be a coach. Can't be a coach. The coach would have been the easy pick. It's gotta be a player. Why is that?
SPEAKER_01I always hear her on the bench yelling something. Or or number fifteen I per se.
SPEAKER_03What? Just screaming at the referees?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, she's always finding away again. She's always given attitude.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Chelsea, who on the team celebrates like they just won a Stanley Cup in a drill if they score?
SPEAKER_01Ava Smith and Brand McGrail together, no matter who scores her if they're on the opposite side of the ice.
SPEAKER_03I don't know how we're going to get through this. Couple more here. Ava, who on the team is going to be who's most likely to become famous for something completely unrelated to hockey? So, for example, it could be their singing ability, could be dancing. Who would get famous for something other than hockey? Could be they get in trouble.
SPEAKER_01I got one. Number five, Layla Veal with the harmonica.
SPEAKER_03She could play the verna the harmonica?
SPEAKER_01Yes. Very well.
SPEAKER_03Chelsea. Who on the team has the most disgusting gear? Like it's stinks. Or like they have an old piece of equipment that they just need to get rid of.
SPEAKER_01Can I like name-drop a couple? Okay, Kieran Gill are going. Um, Gracie Hand. Um, and Holly Brenner.
SPEAKER_03Just stinks or old piece of equipment, or what?
SPEAKER_01Oh, I don't know. Right.
SPEAKER_03Maybe mix it in a Free Breeze or something like that.
SPEAKER_01Like a watch. Buy new gear.
SPEAKER_03Sounds good. Well, ladies, I'm not gonna lie, this is probably the most fun interview I've done so far. We'll see you guys on Thursday for another bag skate.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, thanks so much. I hope see you.
SPEAKER_03Thanks for Chelsea Coates and Ava Smith for joining us on this week's interview. Like I said, just a lot of fun. You could feel the team bond that these girls have. They have a lot of fun out on the ice. I got an opportunity to hang out with uh them at a couple of their practices. I will be on the call for their playoff series, which starts tomorrow on Friday. Can't wait for that one. But let's get into our other interview here. This one's a long time coming. I didn't really know where to fit this one in. Of course, there's a back half where Adrian Candelaria came in, Lucas Kempen came in, so I don't really know where this one's gonna go. But here's an interview with Airdrie Avalanche goaltender Kevin Gamlin. Enjoy the interview. Hey, what's going on? It's Chris Klein Rinkside here, and I'm here with the goaltender for the Airdrie Avalanche, Kevlin Gamlin. Gamlin, how's it going? You just had skills competition. How are you feeling? I'm feeling good. Yeah, and uh I'm always fascinated with how uh goalies became goalies. So, who got you into being a goalie? Did you always want to be a goalie or did you kind of get roped into it in uh Tim Bit's hockey there?
SPEAKER_02Uh yeah, I always wanted to be a goalie. I think I started uh playing mini sticks in my basement. That kind of got it started, then uh I just fell in love with it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you got sick pad stat uh set up too with the red and the black there. Personal choice there were they custom ordered, or did uh you just find them in the store one day?
SPEAKER_02Uh well they were the most uh similar to my pads I had last time in their uh pro stock. So these are actually Levi Maryland's with the Ottawa Centerers.
SPEAKER_03So nice. So you just got called up to Seattle there. Talk about your experience. Uh called up to the Seattle Thunderbirds and two-part question how'd it feel to get drafted last year by the Thunderbirds?
SPEAKER_02Uh yeah, I know getting called up was great. It was a really good experience. Uh all the guys were super nice, and uh yeah, I know it was a great experience.
SPEAKER_03And uh talk about getting drafted last year. You played double A, and you still were able to get drafted. Um, how was that feeling just getting that call?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it was uh very exciting and unexpected too. Uh yeah, no, I was just uh sitting in school and then I saw my name get called, and yeah, it was exciting.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so you've had a good year this year with the Avalanche. How's your assessment of the year so far? You guys are clinching a playoff berth. Um, so how how's the year going on in your opinion?
SPEAKER_02Good. Uh, I got off to a bumpy start, but we've really figured things out and uh I'm enjoying it. It's good.
SPEAKER_03So, you know, you're a big strong goaltender. You robbed me a couple times out there, you know, going post to post, coast to coast. How would you say what would you say is the best part of your game uh that um that you just look at yourself and say, yeah, that's that's that's my game right there?
SPEAKER_02I would say my box control and uh the control I have over my body. Yeah, um, yeah, I just uh control everything really well, get to my places quick, and yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so and then of course, hockey players always have something to work on. What's one thing that you would need to work on going into next year?
SPEAKER_02Uh, I would say my patience on uh all plays, breakaways especially. Uh yeah, no, just keeping my feet and uh yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Are you uh kind of a vocal guy out there, uh letting guys know in the dress room, or are you kind of just quiet, uh just uh go um go with the flow type of goalie?
SPEAKER_02Uh yeah, when I'm playing, I get kind of nervous and uh I don't talk much. Uh it just helps me get uh focused, but when the time comes, I do communicate on the ice and let my players know.
SPEAKER_03And uh what's one thing that you're uh going to take this year with this group of guys? What's one thing that you're always going to remember uh as you guys head into playoffs and the end of the year?
SPEAKER_02Uh I don't know, just the culture and uh everything that we've done together, like having a room, having a couple practices a week, and the whole schedule. Like, yeah, it's been great.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and uh, you know, you wore the uh Airdrie hockey jerseys for a couple of years. Just talk about what it means to be part of this organization, playing here in this arena with these boys who you grew up with. Uh, just how does it feel to be part of this organization?
SPEAKER_02Oh, great. Yeah, they've been good to me. I've been with the organization for well, my whole uh minor hockey career, and yeah, they've been great. I've been with some of the same kids for years and years, so it's great.
SPEAKER_03Alright, so I'm gonna give you an opportunity to kind of sue your teammates right now, alright? So I'm gonna ask you a question, give me a name and just a quick answer why, alright? So who has the worst taste of music on the team?
SPEAKER_02Oh man, I'd say Lucas Kempin. It's not necessarily the uh music, but he gets 30 seconds into a song and then changes it. Like, I don't think we've been through a full song the whole season.
SPEAKER_03So all right. Who has the worst style on the team, either on or off the ice?
SPEAKER_02Oh man, uh say uh Lucas Campin has some pretty bad style as well. Is it the shin pads that almost touched the road? It is big shin pads. Uh here he is now.
SPEAKER_03He's just going over the worst style. I'm here with the worst style on the team, Lucas Campen. Lucas, this is about the third time that you've been called out for your style. What can you do to rectify that going into next year? I have no comment. New shin pads. All right, who on the team is always checking their stats? They come in, they're like, hey coach, should we I got the second assist out there or ref, I got the second assist. Marcus, 100% Marcus. Is it just Marcus? Because I feel like there's a couple of them on the team.
SPEAKER_02Uh, yeah, mainly Marcus, maybe Lucas. Uh yeah, no, Marcus though. He's he's different. I never took it.
SPEAKER_03All right, who on the team is always leaving you ghosted? Who always leaves you on red, never picks you up your picks up your phone?
SPEAKER_02Uh, you know, Will. Like sometimes he answers me right away or leaves me undelivered for like five hours, so that's weird.
SPEAKER_03Got another goalie, eh? Okay, who, and this might be you considering you're a goaltender, who has the weirdest pregame routine on the team that you've seen so far?
SPEAKER_02Hmm. It's not necessarily weird, but it's just different. Marcus uh chugs a Red Bull before every game.
SPEAKER_03Does he know? I did not know that. Is it trying checking a Red Bull? Okay, so there's a there's a brawl happening on the ice, you gotta fight another goalie, but there's a player. Who do you want on the team backing you up in a row? Oh, if he was here, Zeke. Zeke?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, I feel like he would uh destroy anyone.
SPEAKER_03Oh, he's huge. Of course, Ezekiel Belcare is not here tonight. Broken collarbone, unfortunately. And last question here: Who on the team has the worst tape job knob setup?
SPEAKER_02I mean, Adrian has no tape right now, so that's kind of weird. Maybe that's why he's not scoring. Will's done some pretty weird knobs.
SPEAKER_03Um, all right, so Gamlet, heck of a hockey player. Congratulations on getting the call-up for Seattle. Good luck in the playoffs, and uh look forward to calling a long playoff run for the Avalanche this year. Thanks for joining us. Yeah, thanks for jumping. Thanks for Kevin Gambling to join us on this week's episode. He's a heck of a goaltender. Hopefully, he and William George, who seems they both seem so locked in in between the pipes right now for the Avalanche, they can go on a long playoff run for the Avs. Looking forward to calling that one. So let's take a look at what's coming up with the week ahead. It's a short one this week, but there's still some things coming up. As mentioned, the U-13 Triple A Lightning begin their playoffs in Cochrane against the Lethbridge Hurricanes and Red Deer Chiefs today, and then tomorrow they take on the Southeast Tigers. Have some fun, gentlemen. Like I said, just play hard. All you can do, just play your game. The U16 Double A Lightning begin their playoffs also tonight against the West Central Tigers, and then tomorrow they'll play Lethbridge and Red Deer. Good luck to you guys there. The Avalanche game two, Saturday, 5 15, Ron Evanston Arena. I will be on the call with an opportunity for the Avalanche to punch their tickets to the next round. Excited for this one. Game three, if it goes to game three, will be on Sunday back in Calgary. Luck drop for that one is at 145. And the U18 double A female will begin their playoff series tomorrow at Ron Evanson Arena at 745 against Calgary Fire White. They swept the season series against Calgary Fire White five games to zero, but they lost to Calgary Fire last year in the second round of the playoffs. They're hoping to not have a repeat and take a break before provincials. They want to win their way in. That is the big message that I took away in practice when I was hanging out with them. Game two will be on Saturday in Calgary, two o'clock pluck drop for that one. And then game three, if it goes game three, will be on Sunday at 215. I will be on the call for that one. Wrapping up this week's episode, of course, we got to get to the three stars of the week. Third star of the week, I gotta go to Weston Clarkson. Had three goals in his round robin for the U13 double A Lightning. Great job, Weston. Second star of the week, Charlie Dean, three assists in game one for the Airdrie Extreme. He's a heck of a hockey player. Of course, he won the points title for the extreme this season. Great job, Charlie. And first star of the week, I gotta go to the grads for the U18 AA Lightning. Good luck, gentlemen. Of course, the grads this year were Declan Johnstone, Luke Lytle, Zach Harter, Jackson Freeman, Jack Fedorick, Marcus Simpson, Braden Simpson, Seth Vincent the Captain, Ethan King, Caitlin Desorier. Apologies if I got that wrong. Noah Keynes and Tyrus Cook. Good luck, gentlemen. Hopefully, I'll be able to call some of your games if you guys are going to go play for the Lightning or if you go play wherever in the Alberta Junior Hockey League BCHL. We don't know where your careers are going to go. Good luck, though, gentlemen. It was an honor to have you play for Airdreet Minor Hockey. But that will do it for this week's episode. Thanks for joining us for episode nine. Make sure you like and subscribe. We'll see you back here next week for double digits number 10 milestone episode. But until then, I'm Chris Klein, and we'll catch you down the road.
