Human design isn't meant to limit you. It's meant to liberate you. It's simple awareness, it's simply information, an invitation to experiment, a tool that can help you notice. That's why that felt so hard. Or that's why this feels so natural. The goal isn't becoming your human design. The goal is becoming more fully yourself. And using this 101 on human design is an experiment. Does this help you get back to more of who you truly are? Welcome to the Less Stress, More Magic Podcast. I'm your host, Erin Wallen, stress freedom coach, intuitive strategist, and former clinical pharmacist. This show is for busy, capable women with big goals who are ready to stop living with so much stress and are ready for a more ease-based, effective way of living and working. Here, we explore how stress is a survival response, not a success strategy, and how regulating your nervous system leads to more clarity, better decisions, and everyday magic. I can't wait to share with you. Let's dive in. Hello and welcome back to the Less Stress, More Magic podcast. I'm your host, Erin Wallen, and I am so glad that you are here with me today. Um, today we're going to be diving into one of my favorite tools for self-awareness, self-compassion, and authenticity, human design. So if you listen to last week's episode, I talked about authenticity versus attachment. And I explored how so many of us unknowingly are building our lives around who we think we should be, who we've learned to be safe to be, or who others expect us to be. And while there are many paths back to yourself, human design has been one of my favorite maps. Not because it puts you in a box, but because it often helps explain why the box never fit in the first place. So today I'm going to give you a beginner-friendly introduction to human design. I'm going to explain the five energy types, how they tend to operate when they're aligned, how they tend to feel when they're out of alignment, and some simple questions you can use to reconnect with yourself. So if you're loving this topic, I just also want to mention not to forget about my design for ease, personalized human design and nervous system guides. I have am offering them for 50% off this month only. So you can grab the link in the show notes, use promo code MAGIC, and it will give your guide half off. Okay, so if you're completely new to human design, I want to answer the question: what is human design? And the simplest explanation I can give is it's a self-awareness system that combines elements of astrology, the Ai Ching, chakras, Kabbalah, and quantum physics into a unique energetic blueprint. And before you say, whoa, that sounds a little out there, I want you to invite this in the same way that I share with my clients. So I want to invite you to approach this in the same way I approach many of the tools I use in my work, not as something you have to believe, but as something to experiment with. Okay. You are always your own authority. So the question is not going to be, is this true? The question is you learn your own human design is does this help me understand myself better? Because ultimately that's what we're after. More self-awareness, more self-compassion, more permission to stop fighting ourselves and start working with ourselves and our beautiful, unique essence of being here. So if you don't already have your human design chart, I have a link in the show notes that you can grab it. I also linked it in last episode, or you can Google free human design chart. There's so many different areas you can get it. And I'm going to warn you, it's going to look like a foreign language if you have not explored this first. And we're going to just dive into one area of the chart. So if you don't have your chart yet, go to the show notes. I've linked the one from Jovian Archive, which is kind of the gold standard. But you can get your chart anywhere you want. And you're going to need your birth date, your birth time, and your birth location. If you don't know your exact birth time, because this comes up time and time again, I recommend putting in 12 noon. It won't change that much. It might not be perfect, but it will be close enough to get you started. And then you can always go back if you find more accurate information later. So again, it's going to look very confusing, like an alien body graph at first. And don't worry, we're going to keep things very simple today because one of the most powerful places to start is simply understanding your type. So once you have your chart, you're going to find your type. Your type is really how your energy is designed to work. So one thing I love about human design is that it helps us see that not everyone is designed to move through life the same way. Yet most of us have spent years trying to force ourselves into someone else's operating system. Human design reminds us different doesn't mean wrong, different doesn't mean broken, different doesn't mean behind. Different simply means different. So there are going to be five energy types, and we're going to walk through each one. And this is truly just the basic starting point. Human design is so layered. As I mentioned in the last episode, I have been experimenting with this for about 10 years for myself, my clients, do it with my family members. And I certainly don't know at all. Like there's so many layers. There's about two billion different possible designs with all the nuance. So we are really just starting at the 101 level. So just use this as an experiment. Have be open to does this feel true to me? What can I learn about myself? How might this find me to have more clarity about my truth in being here? Okay, so where I'm going to start is with generators. So generators, if this is your type on your human design chart, you make up about 35 to 40% of the population. Generators are the builders. Generators have consistent life force energy available when they're engaged in work activities and experiences that genuinely light them up. So that's really important. Consistent life force energy when they're engaged in activities that light them up. Generators are not designed to force, they are designed to respond. Meaning life presents opportunities and their body gives them feedback: a yes or a no, a pull, a spark, an excitement. When they're aligned, generators often feel satisfaction, fulfillment, engagement, and aliveness. And when generators are out of alignment, they often feel frustration, drained, stuck, or resentful. So a common generator pattern is saying yes because they think they should, then wondering why that they're exhausted. So a real life example might be a generator staying in a job they hate because it looks good on paper. Everything seems right logically, but every day feels heavier. Their frustration is often a clue that their energy is trying to tell them something. So if you are a generator, I'm going to leave you with this power question. What am I continuing to do simply because I think I should? Okay. So write that down. And if you are a generator, take some time to reflect on that. There is that new fan mail option on my podcast where you can communicate directly with me or on Instagram at Joy by Erin. So I want to hear back. I want to hear about your type. I want to hear how this responded, how you felt like if this applied to you or did not apply, everything is welcome and accepted here. Okay, the second type that we're going to talk about are manifesting generators. So these are about 30 to 35% of the population. So if your types is manifesting generators, this is what's going to potentially apply and help you. So manifesting generators are multi-passionate energy beings. Some of my loved ones are manifesting generators. So I am very fond of this type. They have generator energy, but with an added ability to move quickly, innovate, and pivot. So manifesting generators are often the people who have multiple interests, who change directions, who learn fast, who can skip steps and get excited about many things. And they often spend years believing they need to pick one thing. Okay, so that can kind of get us in the way. If you're a manifesting generator, maybe allowing yourself to pivot and be multipassionate. When manifesting generators are aligned, they often feel satisfaction, excitement, freedom, and momentum. And when they are out of alignment, they may feel frustration, impatience, restlessness, and feeling trapped. So a common pattern for manifesting generators is trying to force themselves into a narrow path that no longer fits. And a real life example, they might start a business, build it successfully, and then suddenly feel pulled towards something else. Their mind says, you can't change now, but their energy says, watch me. Okay. So really notice this push and the pull between thinking we have to pick one thing and stay consistent. Because the really the magic in being a manifesting generator is allowing your energy to guide you in the pivots and the change and being multi-passionate. So just seeing how that applies. If you're a manifesting generator, here is a question I want you to reflect on. What am I ready to give my myself permission to outgrow? Let's say that one more time. What am I ready to give myself permission to outgrow? Okay, the next type that we are going to talk about are manifestors. Now, manifestors are about 9% of the population. We can all manifest. So even though there is one type that's a manifestor, we can all manifest. I want to say that really strongly. If you're a manifestor in human design, you are meant to initiate. Manifestors are designed to start things, to create movement, to bring new ideas into the world. And they often feel different from a young age because they aren't designed to wait for permission. And many of us are taught that we should. So manifestors are when they are aligned, they feel peace, freedom, independence, creative flow. And when misaligned, they can feel anger, resistance, feeling controlled, and feeling misunderstood. So a common manifestor pattern is shrinking their desire because they worry how others will respond. And a real life example could be that a manifestor may know exactly what they want to do, but spend months seeking validation before taking action. So if on your human design chart you are seeing manifestor, I want you to ask yourself this question: where am I waiting for permission that I don't actually need? And I want to hear back from you. Okay, next type are projectors, which I have shared. I am a projector. Projectors make up about 20% of the population. Projectors are guides. They are designed to see people deeply. They often notice patterns, solutions, and efficiencies that other people miss. Projectors are not designed to sustain the same level of output as energy types, which are the generators and manifesting generators. And yet, many spent years trying to, and I'm raising my hand because this was so me. So because I'm a projector, for years I thought I needed to work harder, push more, do more, produce more. What I really needed was to trust that my value wasn't coming from how much I could do. It was coming from how clearly I could see. So when aligned, projectors often feel successful, recognized, appreciated, and they feel ease, which you know is one of my favorite words. And when misaligned, projectors can feel bitter, overworked, unseen, and undervalued. So real life example is a projector may spend years giving advice that no one asks for. They can feel hurt when people don't listen, that their wiz and their wisdom was never the issue. It's often timing and invitation. So a power question if you're a projector is where am I trying to prove my worth instead of trusting it? Okay. The final type, we're all special and unique. Um, but reflectors are only 1% of the population. I've only personally met a handful of them in real life. So it's really fun. Um, they're kind of like unicorns since they're only about 1% of the population. So if you're a reflector, reach out. I would love to hear. I would love to hear from all of the types. Um, but reflectors are incredibly unique. They function as mirrors of the environment and communities around them. Reflectors often have tremendous wisdom about what is and isn't working within a group, and their environment matters so deeply. So when aligned, reflectors often feel surprise, wonder, delight, curiosity. And when misaligned, reflectors can feel disappointment, disillusionment, feeling disconnected, and feeling drained by their environment. So a common reflector pattern is assuming something is wrong with them when they're actually responding to an environment that does not support them. So a real life example for a projector is that a projector can move to a new city, join a new community, or change workplaces and feel like an entirely different person because their environment impacts them profoundly. So a powerful question if you are a projector is what is my environment reflecting back to me right now? So a very important reminder that I want to leave you with is one of the biggest mistakes people make with human design is using it as another way to judge themselves or another way to explain why they can't do something, but that's not the point. Human design isn't meant to limit you, it's meant to liberate you. It's simple awareness, it's simply information, an invitation to experiment, a tool that can help you notice. Oh, that's why that felt so hard. Or, oh, that's why this feels so natural. The goal isn't becoming your human design. The goal is becoming more fully yourself. And using this 101 on human design is an experiment. Does this help you get back to more of who you truly are? So I want to just tie this into the nervous system connection too, because this is where I think human design becomes especially powerful because many of us aren't living from our design. We're living from our survival patterns. We're living from attachment, conditioning, protection, stress, fear. And when we're dysregulated, it's often harder to hear our authentic signals, harder to know what's actually true for us, harder to trust ourselves. And this is why I love combining human design with nervous system work. Regulation creates a safety needed to actually live out your unique design, not just understanding it intellectually. I'm gonna wrap up this episode with just some questions for all of us, regardless of your type. But what stood out most to me today? What type description felt surprisingly validating? Where might I be forcing myself to operate in a way that isn't actually natural for me? And what would change if I trusted myself just a little more? Human design has been one of the most powerful tools I've encountered for helping people return to authenticity, not because it gives you answers, but because it gives you better questions. And often those questions lead you back home to yourself. Remember, if you'd like to go deeper, my design for ease, personalized human design and nervous system guides are currently 50% off this month.
