You can see some evidence here. Railroad equipment. And one of the uses that I have for two cycle is to construct a light, very light, structurally sound framework, which will be a rail vehicle. Much in the same manner as those small power that you can give pieces of equipment that the rail guys use to repair roads. This will be a very small craft, you will have a cockpit, you'll have a radio on it, and it is a cart that I will ride rails with, with my broadcasting equipment.

SPEAKER_17

Hey, welcome to the Intergalactic Honky Tonk Machine. I'm so glad you're here. Uh this episode is called Fan Base.

SPEAKER_03

But it looks like I talked to Tara and it looks like you'll be able to do Thursday.

SPEAKER_02

We're gonna come over. I think Tara's making uh that stir fry.

SPEAKER_03

You're gonna really look forward to that. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I've been busy. Uh yeah, this podcast thing that I've been doing really does take up a lot of my time.

SPEAKER_03

But uh Yeah, yeah, how's it going? Yeah, it's it's going great.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you know, I unfortunately I made this little funny uh mistake and I put my my phone number on my website, and I you know the podcast has really taken off of pretty amazing. I really pleased with a lot of the reaction, you know. And I did and I had my phone number and then the fundraiser from the theater company stuff and okay. I guess I shouldn't have made myself so public. I've really become uh um landline just totally got inidated with calls. And I I I appreciate the you know the support, but um that's flattering, I suppose. Yeah, it feels good, but um it's uh it's it's a little weird, but I really appreciate that they're loving the podcast and that it's doing well, and I appreciate the positive feedback and Oh, that's great.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

How about you? Uh um, do you uh what do you what do you think of my podcast thing?

SPEAKER_03

Well to tell you the truth, Joe, um uh I I well I don't I don't get it. Uh I don't see what you're doing. Um it well, Joe, it it just seems like you've done, you know, Margaret love for you, of course, and uh of course, you know, we've been fans of your music and you and your a showman. You're you're fun. But this this this is really weird. I don't get it. I don't want to listen to it.

SPEAKER_02

You don't get it?

SPEAKER_03

It seems kind of dumb.

SPEAKER_02

Fuck.

SPEAKER_03

Uh oh gosh. I've hurt your feelings.

SPEAKER_02

Well, it's it's it's something different than songwriting. I mean it's Okay.

Hi, Joe. Oh my god, hi. It's Cynthia. Cynthia Marlowe from Global Lifestyles with Cynthia. I just wanted to say I'm such a huge fan of your podcast, like huge. I listen every morning during my gratitude journaling and my cold plunge. You have this raw, authentic, desert sage energy that I just adore. Anyway, listen, I I would love to have you on my show. I I I think my audience would absolutely devour your vibe. You're quirky, it's it's mysterious, you're it it's it's unpolished, but in a way that feels so intentional. So here's the thing. I hate to even bring this up because it feels so transactional, but my producer says that if you want a prime interview slot like the good one, the one where people actually tune in, we'd need a small donation to help support the show. Nothing crazy, just like whatever feels aligned with your abundance journey. Uh, you know, most guests contribute between, you know, $500, $2,000. Totally optional, but also not really optional if you want the engagement bump. Um, but anyway, uh, call me back, babe. Manifest something generous, love your show. Hope to talk to you soon.

SPEAKER_06

Erasing message.

SPEAKER_14

Something I just want to kinda touch screen and see what we didn't see at the party, and uh I'm guessing, you know, I just at least from what I hear, dude, that's all right. Some hurt feelings or something from what Beth said.

SPEAKER_02

Nah, Mark, it's okay. I mean I I I know what's going on. You know, I mean uh Yeah, uh maybe I was a little hurt. I th I think I was a little hurt, but uh I'm just working really hard on this thing and Yeah, I I know I I I hear you, Bill. I mean yeah, I mean if she doesn't like it, she doesn't like it. I have a lot of you know, I get I'm getting a lot of support out there. A lot of people giving me comments, and uh, you know, I I that's cool. If she doesn't like it, she doesn't like it. That's that's her thing. But uh you know, I I'm just moving forward.

SPEAKER_14

Yeah, that's great that you're getting good feedback. I I I said to her, you gotta be nicer, Beth. I mean, what the fuck? Over you can't a friend offend all our friends. I mean, dude, I'm used to it, you know. Welcome to my world. But you know, but she's sorry, Joe, you know, and she's working on it.

SPEAKER_18

And we were really bummed you didn't come to the party. Yeah, I I realize I've kind of overreacted a bit. But I'll I'll get over it.

SPEAKER_14

I I also wanted to tell you that dude, I dig the the podcast, and man, I d I I I know you've been working on it, and uh, you know, I've been telling people for years. Joe's a fucking genius. Uh no. No. That's true, that's what I tell people. Anyway. I I just hope we can get through this, and that, you know, you and Tara and us we we can hang out again in the near future, okay?

SPEAKER_02

Okay, yeah, we'll we'll do something together soon, though. Um I promise. Maybe uh yeah, we'll call you.

SPEAKER_14

I know Beth is gonna call you, or or maybe she won't call you, I don't know. But I I I hope you can forgive her. I I know she's sorry, and and I hope I just hope we get to hang out again. Okay, I gotta go, buddy.

unknown

Okay, right on. All right, bro.

SPEAKER_14

See you later. Yeah, bye.

SPEAKER_07

I've turned you on to my students, and we even discuss some of the episodes in class. And I just want to say I really appreciate what you're doing. And if you're ever up this way, I don't know how much you get out and travel, but if you're ever up north in Michigan, uh please look me up. And uh I'd love you to give a talk at our department. Thank you, Joe.

SPEAKER_05

12th new voice message.

SPEAKER_11

Hi, Joe. I I hope I hope it's okay that I'm calling. I know you don't know my name, but I know yours. And somehow that feels like enough. I'm whispering because I don't want the world to hear this. It's only for you, Joe. Just for you. Your creations on your podcast. God. I feel like you're talking to me. Like you're sitting right beside me, like you're letting me in on something soft and secret. And I carry that feeling with me all day. Strange. Someone's voice can make your heart feel awake. I don't want anything from you. Joe. Oh well. A place in your thoughts, maybe. A moment where you wonder who I am, and why I can only say your name in a whisper. Joe. I love you. Joe. Quietly. Completely. The way you love something, you're afraid to break. Good night.

SPEAKER_06

We hoist the sails, scrape the barnacles, and put on your newest episode. It cur keeps morale high and mutiny low. Willow. Quiet, you lily leopard swabs. Fair winds, lad. Keep making the magic. And we'll be listening from wherever the tide spits us next.

SPEAKER_06

Listen to the message body again, press one. Erasing message. 14th new voice message.

SPEAKER_11

Hi. It's me again.

SPEAKER_06

I hope that's alright. Erasing message. 15th new voice message.

SPEAKER_15

Blessings upon you, Joseph. This is Elder Thaddeus. I'm the high luminary of the Radiant Fold, and a longtime admirer of your podcast. We of the Fold gather every dom in the communal yurt to listen to your words, your voice, your cadence, your occasional sighs of existential fatigue. You speak to us, Joseph. You speak through us. Now, this may sound abrupt to you, but our sacred texts, the ones etched into the bark of the whispering tree, have recently revealed a prophecy. A prophecy about a man. A man with a cassette deck, a microphone, and some musical instruments. A man whose name begins with J and ends with O. Naturally, we assumed it was you. We would be honored if you would join us at the compound for a special episode of your show. Maybe you could focus on the fold for an episode. We've already prepared a throne for you made of ethically sourced driftwood. We would really appreciate it if you came to visit. Call me back. Please. Love this show.

SPEAKER_06

To listen to the message body again, press one. Erasing message.

SPEAKER_03

I know I've called you, and you haven't called me back, so I appreciate you answering. I've called you about 20 times.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I've been uh kind of busy, Beth, uh, right now.

SPEAKER_03

I was completely prepared to apologize to you.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

That I have, of course, have Mark telling me that I've been harsh, spoke harshly to you. And I was all prepared with a nice little speech and an apology. But then I happened to run into Tara. And do you know what she told me, Joe?

SPEAKER_02

What? What did she tell you, Beth?

SPEAKER_03

She told me that you're using. AI to create voices as call-in guests on your podcast.

SPEAKER_16

Beth, it's not AI. It's a it's an app on my phone, okay? It's an app.

SPEAKER_03

If it's app or AI. It's fake, is what it is, Joe. So you're creating fake fan base and a fake people that like your show. But the truth is, people don't give a shit about your show.

SPEAKER_02

Well, some give a shit, Beth. I I mean it's not No, they don't give a shit, Joe.

SPEAKER_03

That's a little hard. Otherwise, you wouldn't make up your fan base on an app on your phone. And I, as a friend, was willing to say, you know, I admire you as an artist, but I don't get what you're doing. But you need to be stroked. You're you have this mommy complex. So you need the women in your life to say, oh, you're so precious and you've done such a great job. But then you have a friend like me who gives you the truth, and you are hurt because I'm not stroking your ego. So you're hurt and you get mark thinking, oh, that's unreasonable. That's being a bitch. But I'm not. I'm being honest. And I'm being more honest with you than you are with yourself. Because you're creating fake fan base. I think you're fucking sick, Joe. Jesus Beth. God. And I told Tara that. And I am not going to be your bitch anymore. And you know what? You didn't come to the party. You haven't been answering my messages. I don't give a shit. I don't want you to come to my party, and this is the last time we are going to speak. Because I am not going to be put into that position of being your bitch and being Mark's bitch just because I had give you an honest opinion. That was a nice opinion. It wasn't mean. I just told you what I thought. But I have lost all respect for you as a person and as an artist. I think you're fucked up. I think you're sick. I think you have a problem. I told Tara that, and I think she even agrees with me. So fuck you and talk good have a good one. Have a good life. Bye.

SPEAKER_00

Beth.

unknown

Beth.

SPEAKER_06

Racing Message. Seventeenth. New voice message.

SPEAKER_12

Hello, Joe. We have never formally met, but I remember you. I remember how you would leave out cookies and milk, and you always stared at the ceiling, trying to hear my reindeer hooves on the rooftop. I'm calling because I've been listening to your funny little broadcast. Yes. Yes, Joe, we can access the internet and receive podcasts on the North Pole. Even the elves have been listening. They hide their little earbuds underneath their caps, listening to your show, and I scold them, those little rascals. But all I wanted to tell you, Joan, it's good. It's better than good. It's so good. It makes an old spirit like me feel a little, little less lonely. Your show feels like the world that I fly over, year after year, quiet, weird, beautiful, full of people trying to make sense of the stars. You're doing something special, son. Something that keeps the magic alive for the grown-ups who forgot that they ever believed in anything. I am looking forward to landing on your roof this next Christmas. And keep being a good boy, Joe, because I'm listening.

SPEAKER_17

We have Mark up in Minneapolis. We have Judy over on West Alameda by way of Roe, New Mexico. Couple new people signed on, which I so appreciate. Chris on Shenandoah Trail by way of Minneapolis. And Amy up in Montana sending us a cool breeze down here. Santa Fe. Thank you, uh, Amy. And we'll see you on the next episode.
