How to Walk in Authority as a Christian Man

Stop asking God to do what He has already authorized you to do. He has given mankind authority over demons and dominion over the Earth. Speak to the mountain, rebuke the storm, command the enemy to flee, and cast out demons when you encounter them. 

This is our birthright as imagers of God, whether or not we choose to pick up the mantel.

Hey guys, this is Major Henry Hastings, and welcome to the SMC podcast: Restoring Biblical Masculinity by Raising Up Modern Day Minutemen in the natural and spiritual realms. So you can stand in the gap at a moment's notice. Let's get into it. All right, guys, our scriptural anchor today is Luke 1019. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy. Obviously, the Lord's talking about demons when he mentions scorpions. You can't win a battle when you're unaware of the authority you have over the demonic realm. The demons know whether you know or not. It's pretty interesting when you come head to head with one. In Matthew twenty eight, verses eighteen through twenty, we have the Great Commission passage. It says, And Jesus came and said to them, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you always to the end of the age. In Mark's account we see why we need authority. In Mark chapter sixteen, verse fifteen through eighteen, it says, And he said to them, Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe in my name, they will cast out demons. This is why you need authority. Authority doesn't mean you're loud, it means you're legal. Heaven recognizes what you speak because it recognizes who sent you. Stop asking God to do what He already authorized you to do. Speak to the mountain, rebuke the storm, command the enemy to flee, and cast out demons when you encounter them. Authority isn't earned. It's a grace gift whether you choose to operate in it or not. It's your choice. Walk like a son who is transacting his father's business with the authority of Jesus. So, Father, remind us of who we are and whose we are. Let us walk in confidence and power, exercising the authority we have to fulfill your will on this earth and advance your kingdom.
