Why Brotherhood Is the Missing Piece for Men

Hey guys, this is Major Henry Hastings, and welcome to the SMC podcast: Restoring Biblical Masculinity by Raising Up Modern Day Minutemen in the natural and spiritual realms. This is where we tackle real issues men face from leadership and purity to history, spiritual warfare, and discerning the times at hand like the sons of Issachar. So you can stand in the gap at a moment's notice. Let's get into it. Alright, guys, our scriptural anchor for today is Proverbs twenty seven seventeen. As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. King David organized his mighty men to fight in groups of three. Ecclesiastes four twelve echoes this wisdom. A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back to back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple braided cord is not easily broken. The Minutemen at Lexington and Concord were successful in driving seasoned British troops all the way back to Boston because they did not stand alone. They fought together. There was a cartoon that Benjamin Franklin published in 1754, which depicts a snake cut into eight pieces, and each piece of the rattlesnake symbolized the British colonies. They lost a battle to the French and Indians that a young major by the name of George Washington fought in. And George reported back to Ben on what had happened. The French won because of the disunity of the colonial forces. And that's why the cartoon said join or die. Franklin said this in light of Major Washington's report on the defeat. The confidence of the French in this undertaking seems well grounded on the present disunited state of the British colonies and the extreme gift difficulty of bringing so many different governments and assemblies to agree in any speedy and effectual measures for our common defense and security. Join or die. Isolation isn't strength. It's a setup for defeat. Because you're most vulnerable when you lone ranger it. When you don't have the genuine humility to depend on the guy to your left and right, that's a triple stranded cord. Brotherhood is heaven's strategy for victory. And God never designed men to walk alone. Even Jesus had 12, and Peter, James, and John were his three-stranded cord. This is why SMC tribe exists. Who's in your team of three? We keep each other sharp, grounded, and accountable. We remind one another who we are when we forget. We challenge one another when complacency knocks at the door. We intercede for one another. Pray in the spirit for one another. And use our authority Jesus gave us to decree and declare over one another. We fight for each other. As the prophet Nehemiah commanded, fight for your brothers. I really encourage you to join the forge and find your team of three. Let's stop running from accountability. Find men who will call you up. Regardless of your father wounds, let other men sharpen you by speaking into your life. So, Father, thank you for the principle of join or die. Thank you for the gift of brotherhood.
