Honor Isn’t Dead

Honor is a Kingdom value, but it is important to understand that honor does not mean agreement, or blind obedience. It is choosing respect, restraint, and righteousness when vengeance would be easier. 

You cannot dishonor authority without dishonoring the one who establishes it. 👑

Hey guys, this is Major Henry Hastings, and welcome to the SMC podcast: Restoring Biblical Masculinity by Raising Up Modern Day Minutemen in the natural and spiritual realms. This is where we tackle real issues men face from leadership and purity to history, spiritual warfare, and discerning the times at hand like the sons of Issachar. So you can stand in the gap at a moment's notice. Let's get into it. All right, guys, our scriptural anchor for today is Romans 12 10. Love one another with brotherly affection, outdo one another in showing honor. Honor is a kingdom value. We find it in many creeds. The first stanza of the ranger creed is actually recognizing that I volunteered as a ranger, fully knowing the hazards of my chosen profession, I will always endeavor to uphold the prestige, honor, and highest spree de corps of my ranger regiment. To be successful, every army has a code. Without it, discipline dies and the mission fails. For Kingdom Men, our code is honor. At the core, honor is respect, but the deeper meaning when it comes to a code is to act with integrity, honesty, and respect for oneself and others, stemming from strong moral principles. A great example of honor is how David treated Saul. In first Samuel chapter twenty two, verses four through six, it states, Then the men of David said to him, This is the day of which the Lord said to you, Behold, I will deliver your enemy into your hand. And David arose and secretly cut off a corner of Saul's robe. Now it happened after that David's heart troubled him, because he had cut Saul's robe, and he said to his men, The Lord forbid that I should do this thing to my master, the Lord's anointed, to stretch out my hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the Lord. Saul had been hunting David unjustly, trying to kill him, yet David refused to take revenge. He recognized that authority is sacred even when the person wielding it is corrupt. David's restraint was an act of honor toward God, not toward Saul's behavior. He knew you can't dishonor authority without dishonoring the one who establishes it. Honor doesn't mean agreement or blind obedience, it means choosing respect, restraint, and righteousness when vengeance would be easier. David's honor positioned him for the throne. God trusted him with authority because he knew how to serve under it. If you want promotion, master honor. Father in heaven, write your code of honor on our hearts. Let our words and actions reflect your character. Make us men who walk in respect, discipline, and grace. In Jesus' name. Amen. Thanks for tuning in to the SMC Podcast.
