"As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." - Joshua 24:15
As men, we are responsible to be the priest of our homes, to our wives, and to our children. We are responsible for establishing peace and an environment of worship. If your wife and your children do not know what worship sounds like from your mouth, you are outsourcing your mission.
You can't control what happens in the world, but you can control what happens under your roof.

Hey guys, this is Major Henry Hastings, and welcome to the SMC podcast: Restoring Biblical Masculinity by Raising Up Modern Day Minutemen in the natural and spiritual realms. This is where we tackle real issues men face from leadership and purity to history, spiritual warfare, and discerning the times at hand like the sons of Issachar. So you can stand in the gap at a moment's notice. Let's get into it. All right, guys, our scriptural anchor for this episode is 1 Peter 2 9. But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, his own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Revelation also calls us priests in chapter one, verses five through six, to him who loved us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and made us a kingdom of priests to his God and Father, to him be the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. A priest is someone who ministers to God's heart and represents people to God. He is responsible to keep the temple where the presence of God dwells set apart and undefiled. That's your physical body in this age. But as men, we are responsible to be the priest of our home to our wives and our children as well. Let's make some observations from first Peter chapter two, verse nine. But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, his own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. So chosen generation, you were intentionally chosen by God for his purpose. He chose us in him before the foundation of the world, according to Ephesians chapter one, verse four. And then royal priesthood. This merges kingship, which is authority, and priesthood, which is spiritual access. The royal aspect speaks of kingly rule and dominion, exercising righteous authority under Christ on earth, and priesthood speaks of intimacy and intercession, direct access to God without an earthly mediator. So we have a responsibility to intercede for our wives and our children. And then you have holy nation, a people set apart from the world's systems to live under God's rule, his own special people literally is a people for his possession, meaning we belong exclusively to him. We need to lead in faith with the resolve of Joshua, who said, As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. You need to let your kids know why your family is not doing things that everyone else may be doing. Why is so important because kids are inquisitive and they need the why. Your house needs to be a no-fly zone, like the tabernacle of God. You can't allow unholy objects in your perimeter, and being the priest means you need to model that and model faith. You lead in prayer and worship. You sow peace. If your wife or kids don't know what worship sounds like from your mouth, you're outsourcing your assignment. Your home literally doesn't need to be perfect. We're not talking about perfection here, guys. It needs presence. When you bring peace into your house, hell loses access to it. So you can't control what happens in the world, but you can control what happens under your roof. So, Father, help us reclaim our role as priests of the home. Let your word dwell richly in our houses. May your leadership bring peace, unity, and joy in Jesus' name. Amen. Thanks for tuning in to the SMC Podcast.
