Suppress Not The Spirit
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Biblical masculinity is not about controlling everything or dominating everyone around you. It’s about yielding your life fully to the Holy Spirit.
Weak men resist humility and refuse surrender. Strong men submit themselves to God.
A man cannot walk in true spiritual authority while remaining enslaved to pride, fear, ego, anger, or self-will. The Kingdom of God moves through yielded vessels.
In this episode, we discuss what it means to stay in cadence with the Holy Spirit, walk in spiritual discipline, and live as a Kingdom man led by heaven rather than the flesh.
Match heaven’s rhythm. Open your sails to the wind of God. That is where true strength is found.

Hey guys, this is Major Henry Hastings, and welcome to the SMC podcast: Restoring Biblical Masculinity by Raising Up Modern Day Minutemen in the natural and spiritual realms. This is where we tackle real issues men face from leadership and purity to history, spiritual warfare, and discerning the times at hand like the sons of Issachar. So you can stand in the gap at a moment's notice. Let's get into it. All right, guys, our scriptural anchor for today is do not yield your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but yield yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life. Romans six thirteen. If we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Gentlemen, men talk about strength, discipline, and mastery, and rightly so, but in the kingdom of God, the strongest men are those who know how to yield. Yielding doesn't mean weakness, it's the opposite. It means you are so strong, so confident in who leads you that you willingly surrender your will to the Spirit's command. Just like a trained soldier moves at the voice of his commander, a son of God moves at the whisper of the Holy Spirit. Power under discipline, strength under submission, that's the posture of a kingdom warrior. Yielding means surrendering control. And Romans 6 13 says, Yield yourselves to God. The Greek word Paul uses simply implies placing yourself under authority. So you're not giving up purpose, you're giving up control. You're saying, Holy Spirit, you drive, I'll follow. The Spirit can't lead a man who's always wrestling for the steering wheel. Like a ship catching the wind. The sails don't power the movement, they position for it. Your job isn't to generate spiritual momentum, it's to stay positioned for his direction. Ephesians 5.18 says, Be filled with the spirit. The word filled means continually filled, just like sails that stay open to the wind. That's yielding. Yielding means aligning your pace. Galatians 5 25 says, Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. The phrase keep in step from Stoikao is a military term. I mentioned it in the last podcast. It means to march in formation, to stay in rank, to move in rhythm with your commanding officer. You can't keep in step if you're sprinting ahead or dragging behind. You yield by matching his cadence, by learning to move at the speed of his voice. The Spirit is your cadence, obedience is your stride. So yielding means submitting your strength. James 4 7 says, Submit yourselves therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Notice the order. Submission precedes resistance. If you're not under authority, you can't exercise authority. You can't shout at darkness all day long. But if you're not yielded to the light, your words have no weight. When a man yields to God, his life becomes dangerous to hell. His submission becomes his weapon. So the most powerful man in the room isn't the loudest. It's not the guy with the most muscles or the la the tallest. It's the one most yielded to the Spirit of God. So, men, the Holy Spirit isn't a win that comes and goes. He's the commander of the Lord's army living within you. He's not asking for your energy, he's asking for your alignment. When he says go, move. When he says wait, hold. When he says forgive, do it promptly. Every act of yielding is a declaration. And that declaration is I trust the one leading me more than I trust my own strength. So today I challenge you. Yield your agenda, yield your opinions, yield your reactions, yield your fear. Because when you yield to the spirit, you stop striving and start moving with heaven. Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, says the Lord in Zechariah 4, 6. Let the cadence of your life match the heartbeat of the Spirit. And when you move under his command, you'll find that yielded men carry unstoppable authority. In Jesus' name, Amen. Thanks for tuning in to the SMC Podcast.
