Hey guys, this is Major Henry Hastings, and welcome to the SMC podcast: Restoring Biblical Masculinity by Raising Up Modern Day Minutemen in the natural and spiritual realms. This is where we tackle real issues men face from leadership and purity to history, spiritual warfare, and discerning the times at hand like the sons of Issachar. So you can stand in the gap at a moment's notice. Let's get into it. All right, guys, our scriptural anchor for today is Luke 1610. Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much. And whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. Every man wants to be trusted with more. More influence, more opportunity, more responsibility. But God doesn't start by handing you much. He starts with little. Every great man of God was first tested in obscurity before he was trusted with authority. What you do with the small things actually determines what heaven will entrust to your hands later on. If you can be trusted with the little, the routine, the unseen, you're showing God that your heart is ready for more. You have capacity. Jesus' words in Luke 16 come right after the parable of the unjust steward. The point is simple. God watches how you handle what isn't yours before he promotes you to what is yours. If you can't be faithful managing someone else's vision, he won't hand you your own. If you can't lead one man, you won't lead ten. If you can't honor in secret, you won't carry honor in public. So faithfulness in the small things is the training ground for spiritual authority in the greater things. In the SMC tribe, that might look like showing up on time, keeping your word, taking care of your gear, following through when no one is watching. That's where heaven's promotion begins. Men often ask me, When will God trust me with more? The answer is this when you stop seeing small assignments as insignificant. David learned this principle early on in his life. He wasn't crowned in the palace, he was faithful in the pasture. Before he ever faced Goliath, he protected the sheep from bears and lions. David protected a few sheep like they were a nation. So God gave him a nation to protect like it was his sheep. If you can guard the little flock in front of you, your family, your work, your integrity, you're proving your capacity for greater command. Faithfulness builds muscle memory. It's what makes a warrior dependable under pressure. So when you honor small tasks, heaven notices. Jesus said, Well done, good and faithful servant, you have been faithful with a few things. I will make you ruler over many. That's in Matthew 25, verse 21. Every little obedience adds up to eternal trust. In kingdom terms, promotion isn't achieved, it's revealed through consistent obedience. Gentlemen, God is not looking for perfect men. Men who can be trusted when the job feels beneath them. Men who treat the small assignment with the same reverence as the big one. Because the man who's faithful in little has already been proven that he can be trusted with much. So ask yourself Am I faithful in the hidden? Do I keep my word when no one's watching? Do I steward what's already in my hand? My marriage, my time, my tools, my temper, my tongue. The man God promotes isn't always the most talented, but he's always the most trustworthy. Heaven's promotions are built on earth's faithfulness. If you want to be a general in the kingdom, master the discipline of the small things, be a servant leader, clean your weapon, and have your kit ready to go in a moment's notice. Keep your promises, pray when it's quiet, honor when it's unseen. Those are the trenches where character is forged. Guys, faithfulness isn't flashy, but it's eternal. When God looks for leaders, he doesn't scan platforms or stages, he scans patterns. Be the man who's found faithful in the little. Because if he can trust you with a task, he can trust you with a territory. Second Chronicles 16 9 says, The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth to show himself strong on behalf of the man whose heart is fully his. Be that man, be faithful, be trustworthy, and be ready. I'm gonna tell you a little story about promotion. There's a passage in scripture that says, humble yourself under the mighty hand of God, and God will exalt you at the proper time. I had graduated from college with a Bachelor of Science in Business. I had graduated from seminary with a a four years gradual graduate degree with a master's in theology. I was a senior captain ready to get promoted to major. And when I graduated from seminary, I moved to Atlanta and I didn't have a job, but I needed to keep my hands busy. So I saw a sign on the side of the road and it said carpenter for hire. I had skills. I went into this construction trailer, and the superintendent looked at me and he said, What are you here for? And he was a rough six foot four Alabama redneck construction superintendent. And he was just salt of the earth. And I said, I want that carpenter job. And he said, Will you take a drug test right now? And I said, Yes, sir. He goes, All right, fill this out and go to this location to take your drug test. So I did. I got a call a couple days later, and he asked me some questions. And I simply told him exactly, you know, hey, I'm here to work. And he said, Do you have any problem being here at 6 a.m.? I said, no. He said, Do you have any problem if I ask you to do things that are not a carpenter's job, like clean up the job side or roll up extension courts? I said, no. I said, it's all work to me. And I do everything is under the Lord. And he kind of looked at me and I got the job. About six months later, I was out on a highway in front of this club where we were remodeling with a shovel trying to break frozen ground with two um amigos. These guys were day laborers. And I was out there digging a ditch with these guys, and all these cars kept driving by. And I thought to myself, just for a minute, man, what am I doing here? I mean, I've got a college degree, I've got a graduate degree, I'm a commissioned officer right now in a 20th Special Forces Group, a National Guard unit. I mean, had everything going. And here I'm working for like $21 an hour, digging a ditch with frozen ground on the side of a road and all these nice cars going by me. And I kept thinking, Lord, what in the world is going on? And I remember just looking up to heaven and yielding. And I just said, Lord, if this is your will, I'll continue to do my job as unto you. And I'll remain in place until you promote me. And I continued to do my job. It wasn't a week later when I was on the nextel, these old walkie-talkies we used to use on construction sites. And the director of the country club that was about to host the PGA tour walked into the construction trailer and he overheard me on the Nextel, speaking a little bit of Spanish, how I treated the Mexican laborer guys, and talking with him on the phone. And he said, Who is that? And the superintendent looked him directly in the eyes and says, You can't have him. Two days later, this man took me to lunch. And it wasn't within a week I was on salary with full medical benefits. And my salary went from $21 an hour to almost triple. Guys, I'm telling you, humble your hand under, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God and continue to be faithful. And God will open doors that only He can open. And you'll be in that place to step through that door by faith simply because you trusted the Lord. And I'm telling you, there are doors that are going to open in your life if you will just be faithful and do your job as unto him wherever you're at. It's all about the people and how you treat them. It's all about relationship. And God sees you. And I know that'll happen for each and every one of you. And when it does, I want you to post about your testimonies in the Forge.
