We were never called to retreat from culture. We were called to occupy it.

The Kingdom of God was meant to influence every sphere of society — family, government, business, media, education, arts and entertainment, and religion.

Darkness advances when righteous men stay silent.
In this episode, we discuss the biblical foundation for cultural engagement, the seven mountain mandate, and the call for Christian men to carry truth, integrity, courage, and the Spirit of God into positions of influence.

It’s time for modern-day Daniels, Josephs, Gideons, and Jehus to rise again — men willing to stand for righteousness in every arena of society.

Stop waiting for permission. Climb your mountain.

Hey guys, this is Major Henry Hastings, and welcome to the SMC podcast: Restoring Biblical Masculinity by Raising Up Modern Day Minutemen in the natural and spiritual realms. This is where we tackle real issues men face from leadership and purity to history, spiritual warfare, and discerning the times at hand like the sons of Issachar. So you can stand in the gap at a moment's notice. Let's get into it. All right, guys, our scriptural anchor for today is you are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. Jesus said that in Matthew five thirteen. And then you have you are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden in Matthew five fourteen. Jesus didn't say hide your light and wait for heaven. He said, You are the light of the world. He didn't tell us to escape culture. He commanded us to actually transform it. In the Seven Mountain Prophecy, Johnny Enlo calls this the Seven Mountain Mandate, a prophetic framework revealing how God's people are meant to influence every sphere of society until the kingdom of God becomes visible on earth. These mountains represent the major centers of influence, the places that shape culture, belief, and behavior. And the call is clear. If believers don't occupy them with light, darkness will. Johnny Enlo describes seven key mountains or spheres that determine the direction of every nation. Religion, the mountain of faith, morality, and spiritual influence. Then you have family, the foundation of identity, nurture, and generational legacy. The third is education, the shaping of minds, values, and truth. The fourth is government, the structure of law, justice, and civic order. And then there's media, the power to inform, persuade, and define public perception. And then you have arts and entertainment, the storytelling mountain, where imagination forms culture. There's the business mountain, which is economy, the mountain of resources, provision, and stewardship, and each of these areas functions as a mountain, a high place of authority that influences millions. The enemy has long understood this, and that's why these mountains have been filled with corruption, compromise, and false ideologies. But the Spirit of God is raising up modern day Daniels, Joseph's, and Esther's, men and women called to ascend these mountains with integrity, excellence, and kingdom purpose. Salt doesn't change the world by staying in the shaker. Light doesn't transform by hiding under a basket. Both must be placed where impact happens. In Luke 19, 13, Jesus said, Occupy till I come. That's the mandate, not to escape, but to engage, not to curse the darkness, but to be the light within it. The Seven Mountain mandate is about discipling nations in Matthew 28, 18 through 20, bringing kingdom values, justice, truth, righteousness, mercy into every sphere of influence. This isn't about political takeover or worldly power. It's about spiritual occupation, bringing the nature of Christ into systems that have forgotten him. You're not called to blend in with the mountain. You're called to redeem it. When Jesus gave the Sermon on the Mount, he didn't speak from the valley. He was modeling what kingdom authority looks like, teaching from the high place, releasing the standard of heaven into the earth. And that's our call to ascend the cultural mountains with humility, wisdom, and courage, carrying the word and presence of God. You are the light of the world, he said, a city set on a hill. And that means the world should look up and see the light of Christ shining through us. Gentlemen, this is your terrain. These mountains are where battles are fought, not just with weapons, but with influence, integrity, and truth. You might not be called to a pulpit, but you are called to a post. And maybe your mountain is your business, where your leadership reflects kingdom excellence. Maybe it's your family where you raise sons and daughters in truth. Maybe it's your community where you lead with courage in the public square. Don't wait for permission because God has already commissioned you. You are his representative in your area of influence. The world won't change because the wicked got louder. It will change because the righteous took their place. So, men, you were never designed to sit in the valley of complacency. You were built to climb. The Seven Mountain mandate is not about dominion over people, it's about dominion over darkness. It's about men who bring the presence of God to the places the world forgot he belongs. So climb your mountain, bring your light, take the high ground for the king, because the kingdom of this world will become the kingdoms of our Lord and of his Christ, according to Revelation 11, 15. And until that day, we keep climbing one mountain at a time. When righteous men stand on the mountains, the valleys below begin to see the light. In Jesus' mighty name, start climbing.
