There comes a moment on every journey when the greatest act of courage is not moving forward, it is seeing clearly. Hi, my name is Nancy Vellante, and I'm an astrologer and certified wellness coach. And welcome to the Whispering Soul Podcast today. So there are times in life when clarity doesn't arrive with a loud announcement. And there's times it does. In this case, it comes with a sense of mystery. Like the morning mist slowly lifting from the landscape, revealing what was there all along. On July 7th, Neptune begins its retrograde journey in Aries, inviting us into an awakening of inspiration through truth. Neptune is the planet of dreams, imagination, spirituality, compassion, and the unseen. It connects us with inspiration that reminds us life is more than what we can touch or measure. Yet Neptune also governs illusion. It can blur the line between what we hope is true and what actually is. Because Neptune is a planet that is just very ethereal, right? It has that energy of the mystery, of the mystic. So it takes a lot of digging into the subconscious, the unconscious, to understand where the illusions live and where we can cultivate and always be willing to change the boundaries. And that happens, you know, what is our life patterns? What has happened to us during our life? So it always, as all the planets do, and the archetypes and astrology in general, takes us back to cycles, trends, our own patterns that we need to release or transform into something that allows us to be more of who we are. And in this case, this retrograde of Neptune and Aries is asking us to understand what the boundaries are that maybe we held too tight and got stuck or mired in the illusion of our dreams. And now we're getting a chance to allow that fog or that mist to be released or to evaporate into Aries, which becomes our identity. It's the I am, it's the first house in the zodiac wheel that is constantly regenerating who we are as our identity, as again, I am in relationship to others. The access point or the polarity point of Aries is Libra, the other, in balancing that out. So during this retrograde, the invitation is not to stop dreaming, it is to ask whether the dream is built upon truth, built upon the embodiment of how you can express yourself and motivate yourself through your will and your desire. Aries ruled by Mars. Aries brings this deeply inward process into our identity. It asks, who am I becoming? Not who others expect me to be, not who I have to please in order to be accepted, right? Not who fear tells me I should be, but who I am beneath the stories I've inherited. And we've all inherited our stories. That's not a bad thing, it's not a good thing, it's just what is, because sometimes we have to inherit stories in order for protection, in order for understanding, in order to feel safe. But then, just like anything, we outgrow, and that's the time to cultivate consciousness. So Neptune in Aries asks us to embody our spiritual values through courageous action, not impulsive action. That's the lower version of Aries, can be very impulsive, can be very aggressive and bold in a way that kind of is a bull in a china shop. Or we blend that Neptune and Aries retrograde into a heart-centered action. There is a difference there, right? The difference of just not really thinking, but just moving through. Again, like a bull in a china shop. Things get broke, things aren't understood, you become feeling not good about what you're doing. But when we drop into the heart and become heart-centered with our actions, that's a big difference. Then we can blend the spiritual values into the warrior energy of Aries that wants to manifest, that wants to fire and ignite through initiation. Over the next several months, you may notice places where you've been chasing an image instead of your own authentic vision. You may discover that certain goals no longer resonate, but they got you to where you are right now. While others' goals begin to call your name with a surprising clarity. I like that. I like to be surprised. This is not a failure if you need to change or the goals change. This is a refinement. That really helps keep our ego in check when we can allow ourselves to feel through this heart-centered action that we can refine things. Then the fog lifts, making your next step more visible. I have this image of, you know, being in the forest with all this mist coming up, right? Have you been through, like if you drive through the mountains in the morning, early morning, and all the mist is coming up off the ground and through the trees, and then it begins to clear. It takes a while, but it clears. Sometimes we think clarity arrives all at once, but often it unfolds one honest conversation, one meaningful choice, and one intuitive whisper at a time. Neptune retrograde reminds us that discernment is a spiritual practice. I'm learning that very deeply. You know, as an astrologer, Neptune is the one planet that I've always had a hard time, and rightfully so. We all have a hard time wrapping my head around. And, you know, it's taken me a lot of years as I've matured. Um, and Neptune in my chart is very important. It has conjunct my north node, so it's something that I do need to learn about, not comfortable, but in but moving in that direction of that north node of growth, right? So can we separate fear from intuition? Takes time, it takes contemplation, it takes thought. Can we understand fantasy from possibility? Escaping from creating. You know, Neptune likes to escape into the flowingness of just being and not really having to do much. But yet there's another part of Neptune that wants to create. It's the womb of the divine. There is wisdom in asking these questions with compassion rather than judgment. As the months unfold with this Neptune and Aries in retrograde until uh December twelfth, allow yourself to become curious about the stories you've believed about yourself. Are they still true? Let's take a breath here. In through your nose, all the way through the belly, all the way into the solar plexus, heart. We're gonna stop right there. Let's take a big breath into the heart. As much as you can, and just let that out with the sound of or are they simply familiar? I had to stop there and take a breath because I don't know, but I was, you know, I felt myself really talking faster, and it's that Aries energy. It pushes forward, it's fire, it's initiation, it's like I want to go. So I wanted to take that breath there breath there just to slow myself down a little bit. Aries reminds us that every new beginning starts with one brave decision to meet ourselves honestly. Aries is always the beginning of spring. It's a cardinal archetype with energy that wants to move forward, that wants to do something, that means something, that embodies something through the creativity of one's being. Perhaps this retrograde is less about finding a new dream and more about remembering the one that has quietly lived within you all along. As the illusion gently dissolves, something beautiful begins to emerge. A vision rooted not in fantasy, but in authenticity. Not in proving yourself, but in becoming yourself. That's true identity from the inside out. So, with all that said, and boy, I didn't realize how powerful this um or empowering this podcast maybe can be as I felt my energy revving and moving and having to dance between this Neptune that is very powerful and that can suck you into illusion. But how excuse me, Aries is bringing that back to embodying it. So what a beautiful contrast of energy. May this season encourage you to trust what feels quietly true. Now, Aries is not quiet, but Neptune does have a quiet vibe, mysterious, mystical vibe. Where Aries can learn something from that. Because when the fog begins to lift, we often discover that the path we were searching for has been patiently waiting beneath our feet all along. That's really profound. And I say great time because I think it can really bring us as a humanity to a place of understanding authenticity and truth. Now, will the path be smooth? No, it's not.
