Called But Still Uncertain
SPEAKER_01What do you do when you know God has called you? But everything in your life still feels uncertain, uncomfortable, and a little broken. When you are trying to move forward, but you feel healing at the same time. Today's conversation is for the woman who knows that she's called, but she's still fighting her voice in the middle of it. Welcome to Between Prayer and the Promise.
SPEAKER_03Between the prayer and the promise, there is a space where faith is for God. A place where waiting does not mean for God. Here we hold firmly to hope. Trusting that he who promised is faithful.
SPEAKER_01Hello,
Why The Middle Matters
SPEAKER_01everyone, and welcome back to Between a Prayer and a Promise. This is a space where we talk about the real journey. Not just what God promised, but actually what it looks like to walk through the process to get there. The waiting, the stretching, the healing, and the becoming. Because a lot of people talk about the promise, but not enough people speak about the middle. In today's episode, we are calling it from doubt to purpose, finding our voice and saying yes to God. Because sometimes the biggest thing standing between us and the purpose is not the lack of calling, but the presence of our doubt, right? And our guest today understands that firsthand. We are in for a treat. She is an author, a speaker, the visionary and co-founder of Together We Create for the Kids, a national literacy and community empowerment tour impacting lives across the country. But beyond what she has built, which you are going to hear about today, she has a powerful story of faith, of growth, and learning how to step fully into her voice and purpose. And today we are going to dig and learn all about that. Help me, welcome, destiny. Woo woo! Hey.
SPEAKER_02Thanks for having me. It's an honor. I appreciate you so much. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
SPEAKER_01Yes. And so you know what? I like to dig right in.
Destiny’s Upbringing And Community Roots
SPEAKER_01So take us to the beginning. Tell us where you're from and what it was like growing up. And what's what was some of like your early experience and what shaped who you are today?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So in the beginning, I was born and raised. I am born and raised in West Palm Beach, Florida. I come from a super strict religious background when it comes to apostolic doctrine and faith. So when I was young and I was little, we couldn't wear pants, we couldn't wear jewelry, we couldn't wear makeup. So in the beginning, seeing how everyone used to be together at one point and how they used to help each other out, that shaped my perspective on how community should be and how people should work together because I had that example at a younger age. And then my mother, she raised me as a single mother. She did her best and she was a school teacher, so she was well educated, you know, and um she worked two to three jobs just to provide and take care of me to make sure that we had a place to stay. So I always honor her for that. So that's how the vision for Together Recreate comes came about, was from seeing the community and to and the togetherness of what people could do when they work together, and then also having the heart to help single moms, kids who are struggling to find their way in life or need information or need resources, different things like that. So that's that's the very beginning. My roots is strictly apostolic, you know. Couldn't wear it. I remember the day they said we could put earrings in.
SPEAKER_01So just even like as you go back and you think about growing up and and your beliefs and and and some of the things that shaped you. What what did you believe about yourself back then? What did your younger self need that you may not have had?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, my younger self, man, you know, you could have a good foundation, but you could still grow up and do some of the wildest things. So my younger self was definitely full of a lack of clarity, lack of understanding, lack of purpose of actually what I am supposed to do in this world. When I was younger, I never really see myself reaching an older age. I always thought I would pass away while I was younger. I didn't have vision or goals or dreams. I was just living life day by day, just waiting to go to home to glory. Look, look, look, you know, that's what they teach. So it's not until I actually got older and I say, well, hey, life is real. You got to get a clear understanding of purpose. You have to know who you are. And um, I had to really sit down with God and talk to him to see what he wanted to do in my life, not necessarily what I wanted to do, because anytime I try to do something, it never worked. It never, never, never worked.
SPEAKER_01I want to kind of go back to something you said. You did not see yourself living a long life. And you said that's what they taught. They talked about going to glory, right? And so, how do you think that impacts young people? Because, or impacts not just young people, people in general. And what is that balance that you think that we need? Like, okay, growing up in the ministry, we need to learn. Yes, we need to know about the afterlife. We need to prepare for that. But how do we have that balance of learning about the afterlife, but also learning how to care for the life we have now? Because as a young person, to think that, well, I'm not gonna live anyway.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we thought the rapture, look, we thought the rapture was coming. Lord Jesus, we thought Jesus was coming back real soon. You know, you better get ready, get right, get left, you know. So I think the balance is um what it says, don't be so heavily bound till you know earthly good. And um, and the Bible always says first natural, then spiritual. So you have to build your natural man first to make sure you have the accommodations of a life so that you'll be able to flow um in the spirit. But it was traumatic as a kid. It wasn't bad, it wasn't a bad thing, it's just that we grew up so early, like I was nine years old being baptized, taring for the Holy Ghost, you know, and doing that as a child, it makes you different and you stand out from the other kids, so the other kids couldn't didn't understand where you were coming from in a sense. But I think the things that we probably need now for the kids in the generation who who is stuck in a religious system or religious culture is to give them information and knowledge that the world is not bad. Uh you have to be able to go out into the marketplace. It's okay to have dreams, it's okay to have goals, it's okay to have money, you know, because they always look at people who have money as somebody who's wicked. Like if you had money or if you had things, you are not of God, or if you're in the world or if you're in the streets. So they made it okay to live in poverty as though that was your sacrifice to God for being here. But um, God said, I wish above all things that you prosper and you be in good health. Um, so I I guess it's us moving out of that, you know, slave mentality, Willie Lynch syndrome, and coming into the knowledge of who we are and really having and building that connection with God and moving out of religion and understanding the truth of who he is through personal connection, which is very important.
SPEAKER_01That's so good. And I think, like you said, there's nothing wrong with it. I think we have to understand
Faith And The Trap Of Waiting
SPEAKER_01that we are excited for eternity, right? We're excited for eternity, but we're committed to our purpose while we're here. And so I think that's the balance that we have to have because how many other people are so much focused on, well, I'm not gonna be here, so therefore I'm not gonna live in purpose. And we have to make sure that we know that we have a purpose. First of all, we are we are all purposed to be disciples, right? And so we're called to that, and just to have that that love, that peace, that joy, that laughter, right? And and more so, just like you said, that it's not, it's it's nothing wrong with wanting to to live and to give and to do all these things and just have that good balance. So thank you so much for for sharing that. I just had to put a pen on that when you said that, because again, I don't know who might hear this and who might be listening, and just so that we know that it is so good to again, we all want to have that relationship with our Heavenly Father. We all need that relationship, and some of us are longing for that, and that's exactly what is missing. But I also want us to have that balance, right? Faith is not escaping life, right? It's about living it with a perspective while we're loving, serving, and building, right? Building on what He's called us to do, and God has called you to do a lot of things, and we're gonna talk about some of those things today. So, Destiny, if someone would have met you back then, or even now, what is something that they wouldn't even know that you were carrying, that you carried, and that that you now know that God doesn't want you to carry?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so I used to carry a lot of my past mistakes because I didn't always make the right decisions, I didn't always choose the right path. I was very hard-headed. I had to try first and see later. Because when you come from a background where you're sheltered in a sense, the minute you get freedom, you're going all out. You're going all out. And um, I had to get to the point to understand that yes, I was in a learning period, yes, I was growing, but it's not my job to carry the burdens of my past mistakes, of what people have done to me, what I have done to people, because you know, nobody's perfect. But the only thing I could do is forgive, pray for forgiveness,
Rapture Fear And Life Balance
SPEAKER_02but choose to live and move differently moving forward in life to make sure that I learn from those mistakes and I'm not still reenacting the same traumas and bringing them into this new future, present uh reality.
SPEAKER_01Yes, you are talking now. Sorry, I should now have put it on mute. I was coughing, y'all. But um, yes, this is you talking good now. I want to move, keep moving, excuse me, this conversation forward. I want to talk about the version of you before you stepped into your voice, right? Before you, and again, we're talking about today. We're we're really talking about the fact that you you went from doubt to purpose and you found your voice. And a lot of people are on a mission to find theirs, they're looking for theirs. That they want, they said, Look, destiny, I'm looking for my destiny. I'm I'm ready to find mine too. And so I'm hoping today that something is shared that will shed light and help you step into yours. So was there a season for you when you felt like unsure of who you were and what you were called to do?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Um, fear is our biggest enemy. Uh is it false evidence appearing real? We always have to remember that. And um, I believe fear goes along with doubt, and that's what stops and and block people going into their purpose. The season was I was I had to let go of the opinions and of others. And I just had to say, this is what I'm gonna do, and this is what I and this is how I'm gonna do it, because fear would allow you, would actually stop you from walking into your purpose. The fear of what people might think, what people might say, people get so caught up on that. And then with individuals knowing you from your past or what you used to do, of course, it is a bigger, you know, heavier weight where well you used to do this. Now, how you doing that? But it's just bottling, battling within yourself, which is the main thing, and then and then also it's all projections, you know. So you have to be strong within yourself, strong within your core, forget what others would say about you, forget what you would say about yourself, and get true and deep to what do you really want to do? What do God want you to do? What's the visions that He's showing you? What's the dreams that he's showing you? And um, how can you turn those things into reality? I was one, I was always scared to go deep. I would have a dream, because I like to dream a lot. So I would have a dream to where I'm sitting in a pool of water, right? And and and um I'm sitting right there at the edge. And then in my dream, I'll hear the voice of God, he'll say, Go deeper, go deeper, come find me, go deeper. But I would still be so scared to jump into that water to see where he was. And um, it just shows that fear is the biggest, the biggest hindrance above all things. So once we get past that level of fear of what we say about ourselves, what other people may think of us, who might be there, who might not be there, you have to go, even if you go alone, and then the right people will meet and catch up with you and help you finish and complete the mission.
SPEAKER_01What did you find on the other side of fear?
SPEAKER_02Other side of fear, I found I found people. I found my people. I really found my people on the other side of fear. I found my people, I found joy, I found peace, I found happiness, I found freedom, you know, I found being authentic, you know. So that's what I found on the other side. Once I stopped letting fear hold me back from reaching out or talking to people. Before I'd be like, I don't know if I should message, or I don't know if I should contact, or I don't know, but now what we send like 30 DMs a day, we sending emails like crazy, regardless. You know, you just have to keep moving and knowing that the avenue and the position that you're moving into is it's it's purpose, and it's something that needs to be done because if you don't do it, who's gonna do it?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So you were saying like a lot of your fear had to do with what other people would think and what other people might fear, and then even yourself, right? And so I know that when it comes to fear, really, and you talked about your dreams and things like that, and I want to talk a little bit about that, but I know that fear really starts to shrink when the reverence of God grows, right? When we really start putting what God thinks over what people think, even when we put what he thinks over what we think, right? And so I want to know what you like physically did to shrink what people thought, what you thought. Is there anything that you did? Like, did you just do it? Did you what was the method that you did to get over fear?
SPEAKER_02I I tuned everybody else out who had an opinion that opposed mine, who said that I couldn't do it, or that's not meant for me, or anybody who spoke doubt or discouragement and what I wanted to do, I just begin to tune them out. I'll block them, I'll delete them, I won't talk to them, you know, because whoever you talk to, who whoever feeds you is what you intake. So if you start eliminating those different people from being around you, you're able to bring in space for the new people that you should meet, the new words that you should hear, the new voices that you should listen to. So cutting your circle to where your circle is not poisoning you, but growing you.
SPEAKER_01That's good. And I think we also always have to pray for wisdom to for because sometimes people will tell us things, and it's not necessarily that they're being negative, they might be telling us things out of genuine concern, or it might be good advice. So sometimes people are negative, and sometimes people are giving good advice. So, too, we have to always check ourselves too and say, Lord, let me know what motive they're coming from. God, who sent them? Who sent them and what is their motive? Too. So I think that's that's really good.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's good. That's good, boy. Because I'll cut somebody off real quick. I'm not talking to you, you're done. You're negative energy, I don't need it. You're not okay.
SPEAKER_01So when as you are walking into your purpose, you had talked about dreams, so I said I want to come back to that. And so it sounds like that's how God maybe speaks to you through your dreams or something. So is that something that has always been, or is that something that you learned later? And also, how did you know that that was God? And how do you know that is God and not yourself? And how does God is that the only way God speaks to you? Yeah, tell us, teach us, so I'm a dreamer.
SPEAKER_02I always consider myself a Joseph. I've always been a dreamer since I was a child, and I would tell people certain things, and they'd be like, Well, how do you know that? You know, so it's like it's something that it's just a part of me. It's how I see, it's how I talk and communicate with God. If if I need to know something, I ask God to show me, or some things He would show me that I didn't need to know, but I should know. So when I was going back to when I was younger, and then that's why I was like kids and stuff like that. I used to have really bad nightmares. I used to have very trauma. I used to wake up screaming, ah, because I used to dream so much and see so many different things. So that's why I was also grateful when I turned nine and I got the Holy Ghost because. The bad dreams stop because you know when you're asleep and you're going into that dream state and you're going into that dream realm, you're in a whole nother world where there could be protection, different spirits, different things like that. I know what some people believe, but when you're in a when you're asleep, that's when your spirit is more vulnerable. And when you're a child, you're easily to get attacked. But when I got the Holy Ghost at nine in my younger years, those nightmares stopped. And then my dreams turned from nightmares to messages.
Releasing Shame From Past Mistakes
SPEAKER_02And I was able to see. My mom used to always have me reading stories, Bible stories after Bible stories. Like when I was young, we couldn't listen to secular music. That's what I used to call it. Secular music. This is holiness, you know. And um, so my dreams developed from a child, and then as I grew older, I began to understand them more, and then start having the ability to interpret them so that I'll be able to navigate and move through and move through life. And I feel that's how God communicates me outside outside of the word. Because the word itself is the greatest book of communication that you should use when it comes to seeking God, wanting to know God, wanting to hear his voice. I've been a Bible student, read the Bible front to back, front to back, tarried for a long time, you know, you know, and so I've always knew the voice of God. And with God, he's navigated through many of my trials. It was one of it was one point in time, me know say when you're a friend of God, you can you can debate with him and go back and forth with him, and you guys fight back and forth, you know, like the battles of uh Abraham and the story of Jacob when he battled with God because he didn't want to go back home, but God wanted him to go back home. So he said, Well, God, I'm you're gonna have to fight me with this one. You're gonna have to fight me with this one, and um, I'm not letting you go until you bless me. So I used parables and stories in the Bible as inactive examples on different scenarios in life that we experience and currently go through like that. So that's how I learned the voice of God. And through my dreams, it's just like confirmation. Okay, you see this, you know, this, you know, I'm telling you to read deeper, I'm telling you to come closer to me, what you're doing, and you know, and then I'll see myself in a dream, scared to jump, you know. So come on now, it's me here with you. So that's how I knew it was God, you know.
SPEAKER_01And so you were you were talking about the battle going back and forth. You knew it now. You had to know I was gonna ask you. What was you and God battling about? What was you you you going back and forth with him about?
SPEAKER_02Well, look, because you know how you want to do your own thing, you want to do your own will. Like, God, I don't want to say the world, I want to help the world. Why can't just be a normal person? Why do I have to care so deep? Like, let me just have a regular house with a nice little carm, have all my bills paid, my food paid. I don't gotta go anywhere, I ain't gonna bother nobody. But God puts a certain urgency and an unction in your spirit to do something, and until you do it, and until you complete it, you won't have peace or rest. So anything else outside of that is not gonna work because it's not what God told you to do, you know. So I've had houses, I've had cars, I've had relationships, but those weren't God or ordained things, so it didn't last until I stepped into the promise, the calling of what God, then I was able to be sleep peacefully at night. I didn't have to worry, I wasn't scared to jump. And my dreams start changing. I start going through the water and swimming through the water, you know. So I start seeing a different aspect of God and a different light of God, you know. But as humans, we battle, you know, because we have free will, we have the choice. But um when your heart is urging you to do something to make a change, do it, don't ignore it because you don't know what would happen if
Fear Of Opinions And Going Deeper
SPEAKER_02you continue to ignore the calling of God on your life. Some people they don't make it out of certain things, you know, he'll turn you over to a reprobate mod, see your conscious with a hot iron when you don't when you're not able to acknowledge and honor the truth of who God is and what he called you to do, that we're all predestinated before we even came here, and that's our choice to remember.
SPEAKER_01That's so good. So again, we're talking about the doubt, and then there's so much purpose in you. So you obviously you knew that there was more in you, you knew that God was calling you to do more, right? And you were even debating with God about doing more. So, what were some things that was holding you back? Why didn't you fully like say yes right away?
SPEAKER_02It was me that was holding me back. I sometimes you look at yourself because when God calls you, it's heavy. That's a lot of words, it's a lot that comes with it, and um sometimes you don't even see your own self as worthy. God, am I even worthy enough to do this? Can I even do this the way that you need me to? Are you sure you're talking to me? You know. So when it when it when it came to that, it was mostly me because I'll be running. I don't know if I can do this, God. You know, I'ma have to live up to a standard. I'm gonna be under a microscope, I'm gonna be scrutinized, Lord. I don't know if I can handle it, but He said you can handle it. If I called you, yeah, qualify yeah, you know, and um that was the that was the main thing. It was me. So that was the wrestle between my will of what I wanted to do, and the wrestle between God's will of what he wants me to do.
SPEAKER_01So, did you have to get to what what ultimately made you say yes? Did you have to get to rock bottom, or did you just decide like yes? I mean, what was the turning point? What shift for you when you finally just surrender?
SPEAKER_02You know what so well? We say yes to things more than we realize, you know that it's just are you gonna answer the vow? Because when you in worship, you'll be like, Yes, you be saying that, God hears that. So you've already said yes, but are you gonna be um obedient to the vow?
SPEAKER_01So it's like so you say yes, but you weren't yet obedient to it, exactly. So when did uh that is good? A lot of us have said yes, but we are not yet obedient. Yes does not necessarily equal obedience.
SPEAKER_02There we go. Look, look, look, that's the word right there.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so when that's that's really good, yeah. So when did when did your yes shift to obedience?
SPEAKER_02To obedience, um, I could give you the time when COVID hit, when we was on lockdown, and we all had to sit by ourselves with ourselves with no distractions. And the only person you could talk to was God. Who you gonna talk to? Everybody sick, Lord Jesus, you praying, you praying for healing, you praying for people to change, you praying for all these different things. And God say, You see what's coming, you see what's coming, you gotta be prepared. Because if this the first hit, watch how the second hit is gonna come. So if this the first hit and we wasn't ready for the first hit, what we gonna do to get ready for the second hit? So that was a wake-up call and saying, God, he needed soldiers up, he needed prayer warriors, he need the people on the wall, he need people who are actually not just gonna be spiritually minded, but actually have an understanding of how to build in the natural to navigate, to create safe havens, to create resources for individuals who might need it if XXYZ happened down later down in the future because couldn't nobody help nobody during COVID. So that was a huge eye-opener, and it was like a for a warning shot. Because sometimes when I dream, I'm telling you this dream too, I could see like judgment angels, horses riding on the waters, coming into the shore, just ready. But they be holding back judgment because there's always, I always believe there's still a remnant that needs to be saved or has the ability to be saved. So that COVID was super big. God showing me like, hey, this is not no playground. You just can't do what you want to do. I got something for you to do. It's people I need you to reach,
Dreams As Guidance And Confirmation
SPEAKER_02it's people I need you to help, it's people I need you to tell of what's coming in the future, and how we would need to be prepared, and how we would need to be ready, and how we would actually need to build a community amongst each other because we're all so scattered, everybody's doing their own thing. But what happens if we could all come together and work on something collectively where everybody wins and we're able to help millions of people?
SPEAKER_01Wow, that's a great place to stop.
Sponsor Break And Tour Invitation
SPEAKER_01We are going to talk about. I want to I want to see how you got where you are today. And so we're gonna pause for a moment because we need to thank our sponsors, which is together we create four kids.
SPEAKER_00So we're gonna pause for a quick moment. Across the country, something powerful is unfolding. Together we create four kids national tour is traveling from city to city, bringing transformational experiences to communities nationwide. From Tampa to Winston-Salem, to Carson to West Palm Beach, to Huntsville and Milwaukee. Each stop carries a unique message, but one unified mission: Impact. This is where voices are activated, purpose is ignited, and people step into who they were created to be. This is more than an event, more than a tour. This is a movement. Be sure to visit our website for more information to attend, sponsor, or become a vendor.
From Books To A National Movement
SPEAKER_01We are back, and so I'm glad that you say what you said because it's so powerful, and we are gonna talk about how people can step into who they need to be. And I'm glad that we're talking about Together We Create for the Kids. And I'm I'm excited that I'm a part of the movement as well. And if you want to find out more, there's a QR code at the top. I just changed the QR code. You can scan that code and you can get right to the site to find out more. And so there is so much that has brought you to the point that you are today. So, can you tell us how did you go from a young woman, a little girl who at one point did not think she was going to become a woman, right now living, changing the world, going from city to city, state to state, impacting you, right? Impacting women, impacting men, just changing the world. How did you get from a person who did not think they were going to live to a person shifting and changing the world? How did that jump happen?
SPEAKER_02One thing that always remained constant is my belief in God. So that's what made the change. Me trusting and knowing who God is and uh knowing what he said, because um I could think all these things about myself, but it's one person who never failed me, and uh that's God, and um, that's what made me make the jump. It's the constant belief, the constant acknowledging, okay, God, is this where you want me to go? God, is this what you want me to do? Is this who you want me to talk to? This, is this, is this, is this? And it all started from when I wrote my my actually, it actually really started, somebody reminded me today. I had started selling um shoes, bags, and clothes. And I named it Robin Butterflies after my mom who had passed away. And uh, and then one day my dad had come to me, he was like, turn it into a children's book, you know. So I turned Robin Butterflies into a children's book series. And then once I learned how to start writing children's books, I started writing self-help
Wrestling With God’s Call
SPEAKER_02books. Once I started writing self-help books about different different struggles, I started writing fiction books, I started meeting speakers, um, I started meeting different individuals, and then I just saw the possibility of what we could do and what we could become if we all worked together and collaborated together to do something that's beneficial for children and families and individuals who want to be able to uh level up their life, learn how to start a business and go into different industries like that. So those are like the material different things. But before I started any other project, before I did anything, I always asked God, is this what you want me to do? And one project always led to the next project, to the next project until we got to Together We Create for Kids like that.
SPEAKER_01So what are you hoping? So did it just start off in your area? How did it expand to being like in all these different states? How did that vision come about? Did
How The Vision Expanded Beyond Home
SPEAKER_01did God say no, not just here? Like literally share with the people how did it expand to something?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so we expand it because you you know the scriptures say a prophet is what I'll honor within his own home. I've always constantly tried to do events like this within my own hometown and city. So then God's saying, Well, they don't want to go with you, you can't force them. So he said, start reaching out. So then I started reaching out to different people in different states. I start posting, I start making connections, and it expanded by itself. It wasn't my intention that we couldn't travel the nation. When I first wanted to do a give back, I just wanted to do 200 book bags in my city. And I was trying to find, I was trying to find somebody, hey, anybody want to help me with 200 kids in my city? And I just kept getting no after no after no after no. And the only time I ever heard yes was from individuals who was in California. Dr. Don was like one of the first ones, she's all the way in California. And then um Amber Miller and then Dr. Lanis, you know, it was just it was just touch my heart. Sometimes I do cry about it, you know, because I'm like, God, you're doing this bigger than what I wanted to do. I just wanted to do 200 bags in the city, you know. But now, after I've reached out and made all these connections in different cities, now people are coming
When Yes Becomes Obedience
SPEAKER_02to me in my city saying they want to do one, that we're gonna do one in the city. You know what I'm saying? So sometimes it's like that, you know. Sometimes we can't put a cap on what God wants to do. And we just have to constantly listen to his voice. And he's at the end of the day, he is the one who holds the ultimate vision. We only get bits and pieces of it. We can only see, but so much. But as long as we continue to ask him, is this what you want me to do? Is this who you want me to talk to? It will begin to expand and grow on its own. We just have to have the ability to trust him in the process.
SPEAKER_01So, what do you say to someone who feels like they're not ready, but they should move anyway?
SPEAKER_02Just do it. Like Nike say, just do it. You might not feel ready, you might be uncertain, you might be scared, you might have fear, but the only thing that would conquer or combat that is you doing it, and then as you go along, then you will start to receive the confirmations that would validate whatever feelings that
COVID As The Wake Up Call
SPEAKER_02you might be dealing with internally. Um, as long as you continue to move forward, all will work itself out because the worst thing you do is to be stuck in the same position of doubt and uncertainty. You have to move out that place, and the only way to be able to do that is by doing and moving forward in the and beyond like that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's so good. I I remember when myself and a friend of mine, we she had the vision of a plus-size model organization, and me and her came together and we co-founded Big, Beautiful, and Blessed, and neither one of us really was like, Well, what are we gonna do? How are we gonna do this? But we sat there and she was just like, you know, I want to do this, and literally like just like that. I'm like, Well, I know a photographer, I know this, I know that, and we just moved. And so all we had was we put out a flyer for a model call, and and then we had all these models come, and we were just gonna do a calendar. And so we had all these models, and me and her talked, we were like, we have more people than what we expected. And one of the ladies there come to find out she was a runway coach. And so then we talked to her and we were like, Well, what if we had a calendar? Would you be willing to join the team and do runway models? And so then we ended up having runway models and a calendar. So, but if we didn't move, we wouldn't have had had any of that. So by us moving and making decisions, I mean, just God expanded it to be bigger than what we even originally thought it would be. And and God just blessed that for the years that we did it. It was really, it was just really a blessing to us and the women that was a part of it. So I just want to encourage anybody that is listening right now and you know that God is nudging you, like Destiny said before, God will keep nudging you and putting it on your heart. There is times where God will tell you to pause and he will remind you right now, I need you to pause, but then there's times when he's gonna keep nudging you because he wants you to move. Sometimes we feel like we got to see the whole picture. And God says, I am going to continue to paint when you start moving. As you move, the paint will start to dry and you will begin to see the finished product, but you it will not dry until you move. And so I'm encouraging you all to move on that which God has placed on your heart, and so that is definitely it seems how together we create for the kids is coming together for you. So I just want to ask you really quick what ultimately is the result that you are hoping and praying for through this movement and through what God is doing in
Just Start Even If Unready
SPEAKER_01your life.
SPEAKER_02The um ultimate results is actually raising enough funds to build community resource centers in each city that we start off with. I actually want to be able to have a hub that has the ability to give out resources out throughout the year continuously and getting to the point to where we're able to offer low-income affordable housing to individuals. We're able to give people grocery stipend so that they'll be able to have food. That's the ultimate goal. What I call like safe cities, you know. Giving people, I think affordable housing is one of the most important things that people should and need to have. And without a uh solid The foundation of somewhere stable and comfortable to live. They can't grow. They can't grow like that. Always moving, always traveling, not having enough. So if we want to have the ability to move one race of people out a out of a tax bracket and move them into another tax bracket, we need to make sure that they can afford to live where they're at. And they're just not going through day-to-day, day-to-day just surviving. You know? Because how can you build generational wealth or futures like that? You know, you'll have so many kids who would lose hope. You know, Mama, Daddy could barely pay the bills, what I'm gonna do, you know? Or they'll try to do things that are extreme to get money or to gain wealth when all they really just needed was a solid foundation and people who could provide them with information and resources that could change the trajectory of their life. And then I think that's why people get so caught up in fast money and wanting something quick because they're trying to escape the poverty, you know, pro poverty, you know. They want it quick. Um, and that's the only way they can see that how they could get out. But with Together We Create for Kids, we'll be able to go into the communities, have conversation with the parents, have conversation with the kids to let them know there are alternative options. There are people out here who want to help you, there are people who care about you, and with having that opportunity to collaborate with so many different individuals, bringing on speakers and coaches, they have the ability to mentor them and speak to them and change their life in a way that would in which they probably need, you know.
SPEAKER_01Yes, that is so good. So I is there anything else that you want to share about the movement? I can't believe
Resource Centers And Affordable Housing Vision
SPEAKER_01I always say these interviews go so quick, time goes so fast, and I'm like looking like, oh my God, there's so much I would love more. I would love to learn about you. But I definitely want to make sure that if there's anything else that you want to share about yourself or about the movement before we wrap these final few questions up.
SPEAKER_02No, you're perfect. I just want to tell you thank you so much and how grateful I am for you, Dr. Lenise. Uh, for saying yes to joining and working with me. It means so much to me. And as many times as I can honor you and tell you how much I am appreciative and thankful for your heart of saying yes to this, it means a lot. Look, look, I'll start crying. But you know, you know, it just means that much to me. And allowing us to be on your platform and having relationships and communion and spirit and truth and God. God sees all, he hears all, he knows all. And I just pray that he blesses you tremendously above and beyond your expectations. And I'm just so grateful for you. So I wanted to tell you thank you. We appreciate you. It's nothing but love, and I can't wait for Milwaukee.
SPEAKER_01Wonderful. So this is let's remind people real quick before before I ask my my last final question. How can people connect with you again?
SPEAKER_02Yes. So um, they can visit the Together We Create for Kids site at TogetherWe CreateforKids.square dot site. They can fill out information, contact information, and I'll reach back out to them. Um, and then if they're interested in being a sponsor or anything like that, maybe just send us a message or some encouraging words. It's fine. Um, if we don't get back to you too quick, we busy. But we coming. Look, look, look, look, look. Because I know some people who are interested in speaking spots and vendor spots still, but um, we wanted to make sure that we took care of who we have first before we bring on anybody else. But we definitely have the ability to support the movement, become a sponsor, that would help us tremendously. And then in return, we also promote and support you as well. So it's definitely an equal exchange where you're able to be featured in magazine, media articles, get thank you packages, our books, different books we're creating. I got Doctor, I'm talking down needs to write write another book. Look, look, look. But these are different things that's going to be uh sent out to the sponsors who decide to to join and be a part. So you can learn a little bit more about us, our background, how we do it, why we want to do it, and the purpose of it all. So it's uh Together We Createfor Kids dot square dot site.
SPEAKER_01Thank you. And again, we do have that QR code up at the top so you can scan and you will be able to connect right away and find out all the wonderful things that are going on. So, Destiny, finally, if you could speak directly to the person listening right now, then maybe they are dealing with doubt, but they have purpose in them, they feel unsure, they feel unready, they know that they're called, God is nudging their heart. What would you say to them?
SPEAKER_02I would say let go of what you think of yourself and believe in what God says about you. Too many times we put the weight of the world on our shoulders, the different opinions of people, different places, different situations that we have been through, and then we can wear those as badges of honor or badges of or scars, but let go of all of that and trust and have the ability into dreaming, have the ability in knowing, have the ability and believing in God that whatever you are supposed to do is gonna work out exactly how it's supposed to happen. You just have to have the ability to start. That's it. All you gotta do is start. You don't gotta know everything, XXYZ. Just start and let go.
SPEAKER_01Beautiful. Thank you again. I am so grateful for you being here and spending the time with us. I hope you all learned
How To Connect And Support
SPEAKER_01something and enjoyed the conversation that we had today. Thank you, Destiny. Thank you so much. I am so happy. Thank you, Destiny, for reminding us that doubt doesn't disqualify you and that your voice matters, even while you're still growing, that you don't have to feel ready to say yes to God because purpose isn't for perfection, it's waiting for your obedience. All right, you all. So, dear God, we just thank you for every person listening right now, for the ones who feel unsure, for the ones who've been holding back, for the ones who know it's time to move. Give them the courage to trust you, even when they don't feel ready. Restore their confidence, God, strengthen their faith, and remind them that you have placed something great inside of them, and it's still there. They still have purpose in Jesus' name. We pray. Amen. Thank you so much for listening to Between the Prayer and the Promise. If this episode encouraged you, we love for you to like, subscribe, and share it with someone who
Final Charge Prayer And Closing
SPEAKER_01needs to hear it. Your support helps us reach more people who are walking through their own season of waiting. But here's what matters most. Remember to trust God, not just when the answers come, not just when the blessings show up, but right here in the waiting, right here in the silence, right here in the in-between. He is faithful. He sees you and he's working, even when you can't see it yet. Until next time, keep believing, keep trusting, and keep holding on. I'm Lenny sleeve, and I promise you, God is faithful.
