Here's the book summary: Mermaids are silently disappearing as darkness rolls across the surface of the seas. A new ruler has taken control of the Northern Sea Kingdom and has no plans to keep peace with the neighboring merkingdoms. It’s up to one merfamily to stop the evil above and protect the waters below. There’s only one problem: the merfamily has been ripped apart.

Will Merena, the mother of twin mermaids, escape her unforetold fate as a servant to Queen Romana of Hysteria? Merena has two choices: find a way to reunite with her daughters or fall victim to her new Queen. Merena’s daughters, separated at birth, have no clue each other exists. But when unexpected events occur, the twins have no other choice but to return to their homeland on a search to discover the truth about their past. Will the twins find their purpose in the clues of their past? Or will the evil growing amongst the waves be too great for this separated merfamily?

There aren't any warnings with this book. It is targeted for ages 8-12 years old, but I enjoyed it as an adult.

Welcome to the Unknown Author Podcast. I'm your host, Samantha Davenport. Today's book is called Twin Tales by Ciara Coulson. It is 207 pages long. It was published August 8th, 2020, by Author Academy Elite. Here's the book summary. Mermaids are silently disappearing as darkness rolls across the surface of the seas. It's up to one merh family to stop the evil above and protect the waters below. There's only one problem. The Merr family has been ripped apart. Will Marina, the mother of twin mermaids, escape her unforetold fate as the servant to Queen Ramona of Hysteria? Marina has two choices find a way to reunite with her daughters or fall victim to her new queen. Marina's daughters, separated at birth, have no clue each other exists. But when unexpected events occur, the twins have no choice but to return to their homeland on a search to discover the truth about their past. Will the twins find purpose and the clues of their past, or will the evil growing amongst the ways be too great for this separated merfamily? First off, this author was 16 years old when she published this book. Kudos to you, Kira. That is phenomenal and a great achievement. This is a really good and unique mermaid story for those of the younger generations who want to get into fantasy. On Amazon, it said 8 to 12, but I actually I still enjoyed the book. So even if you don't really get into fantasy, if you want to if you like mermaids, this is actually a really good one to get into. This one is actually a standalone book. I know I do a lot of first books of series, so I do try to find a few standalone ones, and here's one for you. Um, another unique thing that Kira does, this is the author, and I really love this, is that she actually adds her own artwork into the story. I really loved it. It was great to have that additional visualization, and she's actually a really good artist. Uh another kudos to her. So now I'm gonna talk about each of the characters as much as I can without revealing too much of the plot because it's what they do is very intricate to that plot. Alright, so Mirena. See, she's the mother of the twin mermaids, Evelyn and Adelia. I hope I'm pronouncing that right. And she's royalty of some sort to the Northern Kingdom. It took me a while to really figure out her connection there. I had to get further into the book. I may have been slow, but and I may misread something, but yeah, uh Kara kind of kept me in the lock dark for that one. Uh, she is actually captured by Queen Ramona very early on and is forced to have human legs in imprisoned on land. And while it's while she is being captured by the queen that she is separated from her twin daughters. Now, Marina, she's an interesting character. She's kind of passive, but she's got a little spitfire that comes out every once in a while. Uh, she's in a difficult situation with Queen Ramona because she can't go home because then Ramona will follow her to her people, which she doesn't want to do. Yet she also has no idea how she can become a mermaid again so she can escape. Uh and one other thing I just thought, and this just could be the author's age when she wrote this, is that Morena actually didn't think about her husband or mate during this whole time. That's just an observation, just something I I just noticed. So, onto Queen Ramona, she is human in the epitome of delusion. This woman lives in Dululand. Like, she really does. Like, it's sad when you know someone is so convinced and they're thinking that they can't see anything past it. Uh, but she's a really good villain to hate. Uh, one of Marina's daughters, I'll be getting with them. Um, there's Avalon. She was found by a pod of dolphins and raised in the Eastern Kingdom. Uh, she is musical and a free spirit. And then there's Adelia, she's Marina's other daughter. She was found by a mermaid named Tierra from the Western Kingdom. And the Western Kingdom is actually known for the variety of seashells, and she's a little bit more introverted and sheltered. And that's pretty much what I'm gonna say because anything else I talk about, I'm gonna give y'all lots of spoilers because it was a really, really good book. I really enjoyed it. It's a very unique mermaid book. One I haven't read, one and I haven't read one in a long time, but very unique from what I have read previously. New different plot. I really enjoyed that. Now, to end this episode, I'm gonna head to another book I'm continuously reading and finding amazing things to read and think about, and that is the Bible. Now, today's verse is Psalm 36. This is all of it, it's only 12 verses. Now, this particular psalm has it just popped in my head. It's not very long, like I said, it's only 12 verses. I just I have a feeling on my heart that someone needs to hear this. So the title of this psalm is How Precious Is Your Steadfast Love, and this is a psalm of David. Alright, Psalm 36. Transgression speaks to the wicked deep in his heart. There is no fear of God before his eyes, for he flatters himself in his own eyes that his iniquity cannot be found out and hated. The words of his mouth are trouble and deceit. He has ceased to act wisely and do good. He plots trouble while on his bed, he sets himself in a way that is not good, he does not reject evil. Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds. Your righteousness is like the mountains of God, your judgment are like the great deep. Man and beast you save, O Lord. How precious is your steadfast love, O God. The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings. They feast on the abundance of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights. For with you is the fountain of life, and your light do we see light. O continue your steadfast love to those who know you, and your righteousness to the upright of heart. Let not the foot of arrogance come upon me, nor the hand of the wicked drag me away. There the evil doers lie fallen, they are thrust down, unable to rise. That's just amazing on how steadfast God's love for us is. It never changes, unlike people. I've ever been with have a love that changes depending on a person's mood. I've been in a relationship like that, it was not pretty. But God, his love is always steady, it's always there, it has never changed. It he will he will still love you even when you fall, and he will help you get right back up and show you and keep you on the same path. It's just the amazingness. I I it's just amazing to me how he can just continue to love us. And it's just the amazing things about the Lord that I just I keep re-finding out and reminding myself. So alright, I'm gonna go into prayer. Uh dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for this day. Thank you for your steadfast love. Thank you for never giving up on us, Lord. Because I know I can't count that many times. I've actually given up on you, unfortunately. Lord, I'm not perfect. And I I hate it when I realize that I have given up on you, but you welcome me back, Lord, and we you just you just welcome us back with open arms and a good hug. Thank you for all you do, Lord.
