00:05:12.800 --> 00:05:15.040 And it's it's it's uh it's a question. 00:05:15.199 --> 00:05:22.240 I think I encountered this question many years ago with my five-year-old daughter when she came back from Sunday school. 00:05:22.399 --> 00:05:30.639 Uh confident dad who's a Christian, she said to me, uh, hi dad, today they told us about uh God creating the whole earth. 00:05:30.800 --> 00:05:32.639 I said, Oh, awesome, that's fantastic. 00:05:32.879 --> 00:05:36.000 Then she looked at me and she said, But who created God? 00:05:36.720 --> 00:05:40.079 So I said, Um, no, God wasn't created, he just is. 00:05:40.319 --> 00:05:41.519 She says, How? 00:05:43.360 --> 00:05:49.360 I thought I knew how to answer a five-year-old, but I struggled for about 15 minutes. 00:05:49.519 --> 00:05:52.800 I couldn't really give her a sensible answer. 00:05:53.120 --> 00:06:09.120 Because as much as there's this general assumption among us all Christians that we really know who God is, it is when you pay attention to the details, then you find out that as simple as the question is, it is massively complicated. 00:06:09.519 --> 00:06:18.319 Complicated in the sense that God is not this being that you could just simply say, Oh, look at God, he's like this or he's like that. 00:06:18.480 --> 00:06:25.839 As a matter of fact, when Moses tried, or when he wanted to see who God is, God said, No, you can't see my face. 00:06:26.079 --> 00:06:27.600 If you do, you will die. 00:06:28.000 --> 00:06:35.680 It is it is it is this God that words cannot even begin to describe. 00:06:36.079 --> 00:06:49.839 Because God is as much as person, uh as much as possible, uh different things to different people at different times in terms of our encounter, our experience, and our knowledge of who this God is. 00:06:50.160 --> 00:07:12.639 So, this morning, what I will do, thankfully, there will be so much to talk about when it comes to God and who he is in terms of uh what we'll be looking at in the summer series, but I will focus much more on the existence, that's the self-existence and the independence of God. 00:07:13.439 --> 00:07:21.360 And when I started looking at this, I found that that even talking about the existence of God alone uh it's it's so much. 00:07:21.519 --> 00:07:33.279 But I'll focus on just three things that is his self-existence, his independence, and I'll conclude by how we know him, essentially uh in this series. 00:07:33.519 --> 00:07:52.399 Because, like I said, looking at God and who he is is it's it's amazing because Exodus gives us just what we read this morning, and please have these two uh passages that we read in mind, both Exodus and the ones we read in uh Colossians. 00:07:52.639 --> 00:08:08.079 Because in Exodus there is just this encounter between Moses and God, we see the totality, at least this little snippet, of God, God's presence with his people. 00:08:08.480 --> 00:08:14.480 Because what he told Moses was, I have heard you know the cries of my people. 00:08:15.040 --> 00:08:27.360 It is time to kick start now this project of establishing the nation that is going to be the nation of nations going forward, fulfilling a promise. 00:08:28.160 --> 00:08:37.279 But the question came with Moses, it says, and Moses asked God, and he says, Okay, you've introduced yourself to me. 00:08:37.519 --> 00:08:44.080 We have this discussion, but when I go, who would I say send me?
