Wedding Cake, Buc-ee’s, and the Creepy Bus Hallway

After attending a beautiful wedding filled with steak, lobster, dancing, and a little bit of Bad Bunny, Sharlotte and her uncle hit the road again for another long travel day. What follows includes a grumpy road-trip moment, an unexpected Walmart ice-cream stop, a campground that a giant bus couldn’t fit into, and a lot of Buc-ee’s snacks. Sharlotte shares her honest travel tips (always keep snacks nearby!) and looks ahead to exploring Wilmington, the beaches, and maybe even spotting someone from The Summer I Turned Pretty.

My aunt and my new uncle. Yeah, I got a new uncle.

So what'd you think of it?

It was really pretty. Like it was like on a golf course. The like chairs were very comfortable. And it was a very pretty, and like there was like flowers everywhere, and the flowers were really interesting.

And what did you do while at the wedding, aside from just sitting in comfortable chairs?

SPEAKER_00 0:54

Oh yeah, I food. I had like steak and lobster, and then they had like potatoes, which were very good. And then I played with like the little kids out of there. We played a game called Cat and Mouse. And I had to chase little kids. It was very exercising.

Yeah, if I'm not mistaken, I also saw you dancing.

Because you made me, and then like Uncle Lion's girlfriend was like so happy, and she like wanted to dance with like everybody there. So then she was dancing with me for like half of it. And then every single time a bad bunny song would come on. You would literally that's like the only time you'd come on the dance floor and you'd drag me over with you. Cause the first time I like did not want to dance. I don't like dancing. Dancing is not my forte. I'll dance when I'm alone and I'm really bad at dancing. And I only know how to do some dances. Well, literally, I'd be sitting at the table, just like chilling with like the little kids, and we'd be like drawing or something. And then Bro would come over and be like, Let's go dance. No. And it would only be the Bad Bunny songs. That's the thing.

That's your new makeup. Like you're not mad about it because you like dancing the Bad Bunny, but like it was only the Bad Bunny songs. There were very interesting songs for the playlist though.

There was Latin music. There was there was classic like hip hop. Did you have cake?

You didn't have any cake?

No. I'm not judging, but I was getting some of your cake until you ate it all.

There's like a lot of cake, so I was just gonna eat some of your cake. But then when I went over there to get some cake, Bell was already done with like the good part of the cake. And it was on like the fasting bit, which nobody likes frosting.

So the wedding was on a Friday night.

SPEAKER_00 2:43

Yeah.

And then Saturday we started our long drive. We had to make it from Sarasota, Florida, up to Hunting Island.

SPEAKER_00 2:53

Oh because tell me why. This kid, this kid sitting next to me. Listen to this. We were driving, right? And then Bo wanted to take a nap, so I took a nap, right? And then I took the bus to take a nap. Wait, wait, wait. And then and well, yeah, of course you have to add that we stopped.

I stopped the bus and took a nap on the couch.

SPEAKER_00 3:11

Yeah, you took a nap on the couch. And then we get to Walmart, and then Bo was like, oh, let's go get some flowers. Do you know what we came out with? It was not flowers. There was no flowers in the Walmart that we went to. It was ice cream. Because Bo said, oh I tripped and fell in the ice cream section. But we did get ice cream. But I had to lay in the reclining chair because like once everything's like closed in, like the like walls kind of just like close in on you. Whatever. Like collapses. What would you call it?

The slide outs come in.

Yeah, the slide-out-that's what it's called. The slide outs come in. Like the hallway to the bed is kind of creepy. So like bro, I was just like, I'll just lay on the reclining chair. And then come to find out it is not very comfortable trying to sleep because I'm very, very, very light. Okay? And you have to kind of like push the reclining chair back for it to like recline your head back. It did not work out as planned.

It's not a creepy hallway. It is creepy. It's just narrow.

It is dark and sketchy. So turn the light on.

Did you think about that?

SPEAKER_00 4:19

No, because actually before I went to bed, this was probably a very bad idea, but I was like brain rotting on Instagram, and everyone I'm gonna on Instagram tell me why something like creepy would happen. Because I'd be watching a video and somehow it's about Epstein. Or like somehow it's about like some kid being murdered. Like, why do I want to listen to that?

I don't know.

I don't know. So that's why I was like, I don't really want to go back there because like what if I get murdered or something? So I kind of just stayed up here.

So Saturday was a really long travel day. We stopped at a Walmart parking lot, which is not our typical place to stop. And then Sunday ended up being a long travel day.

Oh my gosh, bro. Because we got to Hunting Island and Which is beautiful. Which, yeah, the beach is really pretty. 10 out of 10 I would recommend.

It was cold.

It was not that cold.

And cloudy.

You're being dramatic.

And you wanted to swim in the ocean.

Yes, I love the ocean. But like when we got there, we like parked the bus because the spot wasn't available yet. And tell me why. We unhooked the Jeep, right? And we went to like the hunting island, like like the main area for like the beach or whatever.

And the lighthouse.

SPEAKER_00 5:27

And the yeah, the where the lighthouse is. And we did that. And then we went back and he went to go see if the spot was open.

When we got to the campground, yeah, it would not work because the corner There was a sharp, sharp turn that the bus would not fit around.

Like the Jeep was like barely cutting edges there.

SPEAKER_01 5:45

Yeah. So we had to improvise at the last minute. Decided to skip ahead to our next stop, which was another four and a half, five hour drive.

SPEAKER_00 5:56

Yeah, and before that, this guy this man tried to pull in the bus in a very narrow, like, what was it?

SPEAKER_01 6:05

The entrance to the park.

The entrance to like the state park, it was really narrow. But I was like, make it.

I did make it. I didn't scratch the bus.

The whole entire bus shut. Bro.

Didn't hit any of the door.

No, there's no marks on the bus or the Jeep.

Yeah, but there was like there was a tree that hit the thing. Because I heard it like on the branch. Yeah, it didn't hit the No, you didn't hit like the massive tree. But the whole bush shook. Because there was like a turn or like uh one of those things.

It was a tight turn.

Yeah, it was very fun. But they didn't have any signs to like indicate.

You shouldn't bring a long vehicle.

SPEAKER_00 6:47

Yeah. And then the lady that was at the desk was like, You can't get the bus here.

But thankfully she did because we wouldn't have made it around the turns later on down that road.

Yeah, because of that one really low tree branch. That thing was very so we left Hunting Island.

We drove another four and a half, five hours up to where we are now.

Yeah. Which is North Kill.

Yep. Wilmington and the beaches.

And they oh my gosh, I found this out yesterday.

SPEAKER_01 7:20

Oh my gosh Grumpy does not.

I've lost. I lost electronics yesterday because I was very grumpy. And but after my nap, I got some very good news that Sam I Tone Pretty was like filmed in this area. And oh my gosh, guess what? There was this like one restaurant, what is it called?

SPEAKER_01 7:38

Vicious Biscuit.

SPEAKER_00 7:39

Vicious Biscuit. And there was like a rumors like that that like a couple of the cast members from like Summit Turn Pretty was like works there. And then hang out there. Or like hang out, you know, chillax. But before that, when we were starting out hunting, Ellen got like a request to like go to a dinner with his friends. Oh yeah. And I didn't get my pot roast. And then on the way here, I was starving because I was gonna have a snack before we got back on the road. And Bo's like, oh no, it's almost dinner time. He said that like three hours.

It was an hour now.

It was three hours of waiting for food. And then I had food. I just did not like it, so I just had a bowl of cereal. That was a very good bowl of cereal.

So back to being in Beaufort, one of the cool things that happened to us is that my friend Linda invited us over her house for dinner. Now, unfortunately because we couldn't stay at the campground.

We did not get pot roast.

We didn't get to stay for dinner, so we skipped ahead to our next stop.

Oh, and he never got to bring her the ice cream.

And I didn't get to bring her the ice cream. What advice would you have for somebody who's gonna be on a long travel day like that?

SPEAKER_00 8:55

Make sure you have a bag of snacks next to your seat. And make sure you stop at all the Buckys. Uh the Bucky's We went to Bucky's early in the morning, and then every time a Bucky signed, I would literally just look at him like No, we're not stopping. We spent we used like 80 bucks at Bucky's in the morning on a random thing that you said was good.

Beef jerky.

No, not the beef jerky like the sauce.

Kalachis.

SPEAKER_00 9:30

That that no. Mm-mm.

We got kalachis, we got muffins, we got beef jerky.

The chocolate mu 10 out of 10 would recommend the double chocolate crumble muffin, except for the crumble top, because it's a little bit dry. But once you get past that, the muffin bit is the best part.

And then we not only spent $70 at Buckys, almost $80 at Bucky's.

But we also filled up the fuel tank on the bus.

Which is like $90, $100.

Oh no, it was more than that.

It was more than $900.

More than $100, yeah. Because it's a diesel.

How much is diesel?

SPEAKER_01 10:11

It's around four bucks a gallon. $370 to $415 a gallon. And the motor coach takes a hundred gallons of fuel. So to fill up the tank from empty is over $400.

Oh, so like you spent and spent anything. You spent like almost $80, and then like, man, you are actually about so we had to fill up on a long travel day. You go bok. You definitely go boke.

When you're driving a motor coach, it does consume fuel. And we stopped how many times on the way up here from two. We stopped twice on the way up here from Hunting Island. And we stopped twice on the way to Hunting Island. And each time was like $130, $140 worth of fuel.

Well, technically we did stop twice, but we stopped at a Bucky's. Because I somehow, with my beautiful charming face, I convinced Aunt Steve to stop. Even though we didn't go inside, we just got gap. Yeah, you tried to find gas, and then that was a whole rampage.
