Hello Sister Podcast with Tiff and Aunge is where real conversation meets grown‑woman joy. Hosted by two lifelong friends, who just so happen to be sisters, this show is a celebration of connection, culture, and the beautiful chaos of being a Black woman navigating life in her 40s with humor, honesty, and a whole lot of heart.
Each episode invites listeners into their circle — a place where vulnerability is welcomed, joy is prioritized, boundaries are respected, and growth is celebrated. From midlife reinvention to relationships, wellness, culture, and the soft life we all deserve, Tiff and Aunge bring their lived experiences, humor, and sister‑level honesty to every conversation.
This isn’t just a podcast. It’s a community. A vibe. A reminder that you’re not doing life alone.
Get ready for another laugh-out-loud, thought-provoking, and nostalgic ride with Episode 11 of the Hello Sister Podcast w/ Tiff and Aunge! This week, the sisters bring their signature blend of humor, honesty, and sisterly debate as they tackle everything from trending social media moments to childhood throwbacks that will have you saying, “Wait… why were we singing that?!”
We kick things off with Around the Social Media World, diving straight into the internet’s latest debate surrounding the controversial character “Captain Durag” from Disney Junior’s newest show Hey A.J.!. Is this character a meaningful form of cultural representation, or is it crossing the line into foolery? Tiff and Aunge break it all down, offering two distinct perspectives that will have you thinking deeper about media, identity, and how culture is portrayed in children’s programming.
Next up, it’s time for the fan-favorite segment, What the Florida?, and this one does NOT disappoint. The sisters unpack the viral chaos sparked by a satirical social media post from Tampa International Airport jokingly “banning” pajamas. What started as humor quickly turned into a full-blown internet debate, because let’s be honest… the internet stays undefeated. Tiff and Aunge go head-to-head with very different takes on whether rocking pajamas at the airport is acceptable or absolutely not. Comfort vs. presentation. Where do YOU stand?
From there, we take a hilarious trip down memory lane as the sisters revisit the most outrageous fashion disasters of the ‘80s and ‘90s. Think big hair, bold colors, questionable patterns, and styles that we were convinced were IT at the time. This nostalgic segment is packed with laughs, relatability, and maybe just a little bit of secondhand embarrassment.
And speaking of throwbacks, the conversation naturally flows into the songs we all loved as kids… but had absolutely NO business singing. You know the ones that were catchy, grown, and completely going over our heads back then. Tiff and Aunge reminisce on belting out lyrics with full confidence while having zero clue what they actually meant. It’s funny, it’s real, and it’s guaranteed to unlock some core memories.
To close out the episode, the sisters bring it back to the heart with a powerful and touching Sister Salute. This week, they honor the unsung heroes planning family reunions this summer. From organizing travel to coordinating meals and activities, these individuals play a vital role in keeping families connected. In times like these, community, love, and togetherness matter more than ever, and this salute is a beautiful reminder of that.
Episode 11 of the Hello Sister Podcast w/ Tiff and Aunge is the perfect mix of culture, comedy, nostalgia, and heartfelt appreciation. Whether you’re here for the debates, the laughs, or the real talk, this episode has something for everyone.
Tune in now, join the conversation, and don’t forget to share with your favorite sister-friends!
Hello, sister. Hello, sister. Welcome to Hello Sister Podcast with Tiff and Ange, episode 11. 11. We roll in. Yes. Yes. So we got a great show for you today. We're going to do a little bit of around the social media. Of course, we have a What the F, also known as What the Florida. Couple hot topics we're going to do. Two hot topics. Fashion crimes we committed proudly when we were younger. And then also songs we had no business singing as kids. This is going to be good.
SPEAKER_00
Absolutely.
SPEAKER_01
I got some ringers on here. And of course, we end with a sister salute. So let's go ahead and get into it.
SPEAKER_00
Let's do it.
SPEAKER_01
Alright, so around the social media. Mm-hmm because there's a show called Hey AJ on Disney Jr. Super cute show. Marcus Bennett, who, or excuse me, Martellus Bennett, who was a former football player, played for the Cowboys, played for the Giants, played for the Packers, played for the Patriots. He created a show called Hey AJ. He does kid books as well. And there is a character on Hey AJ called Captain Durag. Yes, you heard me. Captain Durag. He wears a superhero outfit, a mask, and this extra long do-rag. This uh character came out February, so Black History Month of this year, and is really aimed at helping kids to promote cleaning. Great meaning. But what do you think about a black TV show on Disney Jr. with a superhero called Captain Durag?
SPEAKER_00
I love that there is a show that has black representation. I love that Disney Jr. is doing it because a lot of families put that on for their young kids.
SPEAKER_01
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00
I adore the fact that it's something that I can set my children in front of the TV and allow them to watch when they're allowed to watch TV. So we will support it and we will watch it. Yes. However, I could get me blacker. I just don't like the foolery. Clean that room up, sucker.
SPEAKER_01
Come on, man. Come on, man. What are we talking about? He has a fame song too, which really gets me. Captain Dureck!
SPEAKER_00
I can't get with the foolery. I will allow my children to watch it, and I want to make sure that they get the ratings. So, like, yes, we will have it on in the house. I'm not watching it. I can't do it. I can't do it.
SPEAKER_01
Clean that room up, sucker.
unknown
I can't do it.
SPEAKER_01
Just a little, you know, tomfoolery. Good at heart, good meaning. Yes. But I do think, you know, part of our issue as black people is representation. Yes. And when we have an opportunity to have representation, we have to take that very seriously because that's how some people see us. Now, granted, there's a very positive thing about do-rags.
SPEAKER_00
Oh, my children wear do rags every night.
SPEAKER_01
Exactly.
SPEAKER_00
Yeah, both of them are lost.
SPEAKER_01
They understand what they do, right? We don't walk out the house and do rags, but they understand how it protects our hair. They understand the connection to bonnets and do-rags, and they understand that it is a part of our culture. Um, I just I this was on the cusp. This is on the cusp.
SPEAKER_00
Yeah, I'm not watching. We gonna represent it. We we're gonna allow the ratings to speak for themselves. We're gonna put it on in the house. I'm not watching. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01
Well, here's what I'll say. Hey AJ is an adorable show. This little black girl is adorable. She has a little mole, which you know I have a mole. Yes, and I just love her. Her character is cute, it is representation. So although Captain Dorag may seem like foolery, please give this show a chance. Please support this show. It's so important. But it's actually really, really cute. Oh, and a good meaning behind it as well. He is encouraging people to clean up.
SPEAKER_00
Okay. We'll put it on in the house. It'll be on in the house for sure.
SPEAKER_01
But do rags and bonnets are not to go out the house.
SPEAKER_00
They are not. And I don't know if you saw this or not, but in our what the Florida. Come on, Florida. Tampa Airport has made a statement.
SPEAKER_01
Oh, did they? Yes. Okay, Tampa. We just can't stay out the news, can't we? We just can't stop being the topic of What the Florida.
SPEAKER_00
Well, I'm gonna read this so you can hear it. What the Florida. The way that I read it.
SPEAKER_01
But yeah, here we go.
SPEAKER_00
Tampa International Airport recently went viral after an announcement claiming it was banning pajamas at the airport. The post was meant to be a joke, exploded into a full-blown conversation about what people should and should not wear while traveling. The airport later clarified it was a playful social media banter, but then the internet had already taken the idea and run with it. Of course, you can't just post something like that and think you ain't gonna get no comments, Tampa. TPA? Listen, I couldn't care less what anybody wears to the airport. Be comfortable in your travels. So when I flew to Dubai, I knew I was gonna be on the flight for 14 and a half hours there and 15 and a half hours on the way back. I wanted to be comfortable. So I wore leggings and a t-shirt. That's what's comfortable to me. Um, but if I wanted to wear pajamas, I would have absolutely worn pajamas. I don't come out in a bonnet though. I can't I can't do that.
SPEAKER_01
I think all of it is too much. I can't do that. I get that little kids traveling are not easy, but I can't stand to see a two-piece kid in a two-piece with uh uh what's them little uh holy shoes? Crocs. Crocs on. I cannot. I I cannot stand pajamas. I feel like they make enough sweat outfits and casual clothes that you can be comfortable. Yeah. That's not pajamas. I cannot stand it. And when I see an adult, now you got companies like black companies too, like Fancy Homebody, who make adorable travel spanks that make where it has adorable travel, all to help you to be comfortable, but still, you know, look appropriate when you're out.
SPEAKER_00
Yeah, actively black is another one too. Like you can definitely find an outfit to travel in.
SPEAKER_01
Yeah, I just I can't. I can't with the pajamas. And so thank you, TPA, for calling it out. I'm not gonna wet the floor to you because I think you was on to something. I wish y'all were serious. Somebody needs to take a stand. We ain't learned nothing about Jesse Jackson.
SPEAKER_00
You know what?
SPEAKER_01
We know that we need to stand for something. I enjoy TPA's post and I wish they would stick by it. Sister. Because this is outrageous. I am behind you, TPA, and definitely bonnets. It is a sin to walk out that house with that bonnet.
SPEAKER_00
I'm gonna mind my business. I'm gonna mind my business. You you take your stance, but I'm gonna mind my business. Well, if you see me. If you're comfortable, let you be comfortable. I personally wouldn't do it, but if you could be comfortable, be comfortable. Protect that hair.
SPEAKER_01
Sure. I'm not gonna wet the Florida you today. Florida, you off the hook this time. But keep doing what you're doing. We're gonna keep covering you on this show. And there is always enough material to cover what the Florida. Always. I love that. All right. Let's keep it pushing. So we got two hot topics today. Uh, the first one is fashion crimes we committed probably when we were younger. Yes. Oh man, when we look back at some of those pictures, no, well, actually, what I think is really funny is when Sean finds pictures of us when we're younger and he puts them in the group chat.
SPEAKER_00
You know what? I don't even know where he's finding these pictures because these are physical pictures. Like, who has the pictures?
SPEAKER_01
Yeah, but guess what? You'll never see another picture. You know why? Why? Everybody will sleep at his mom's house this past New Year's. And I went looking. And I found every young picture that you do not like. And so we're gonna tip for tap. I'm gonna be real petty.
SPEAKER_00
Good. Post a picture of me. I'm gonna post a picture of you. I don't know how he found those pictures of me with no teeth. I know. Like the pictures of teeth missing.
SPEAKER_01
Like, where do you get those? He found them all. But those aren't the worst ones. So let's talk a little bit about some of those fashion crimes that we committed probably when we were younger.
SPEAKER_00
My favorite pictures of us are with the 80s Whitney Houston Tina Turner hair.
SPEAKER_01
Oh man.
SPEAKER_00
With the big teased hair, like out to human teased hair.
SPEAKER_01
I don't even know who thought that that was a fashion statement. Oh, you couldn't tell us we were on fly though. No. But it got worse. It got worse. It did. Then we decided to pull it back together with them high French rolls. Them French rolls. Remember the better. Our uh old hairstylist, Teresa?
SPEAKER_00
Everybody had a French roll.
SPEAKER_01
Everybody will walk down the floor.
SPEAKER_00
2025 French rolls.
SPEAKER_01
That's the only style she did. No, she was awesome, but we had them French rolls going. Yeah, we did. What about banana clips? I hated banana clips. I I actually want them to come back. I do. I just think that they're adorable.
SPEAKER_00
Pass. Pass, pass. I love the hammer pants. The parachute pants? Oh, they're back. I love I'm gonna go get me a pair.
SPEAKER_01
They're back. And they they think that they're stylish with it. Nah. Those just coming back full circle. You don't need to stop. Seriously. One thing that I'm glad did stop is dark brown lips and dark brown lip liner. Really, not the brown lips, but the lip liner. I mean, we still recovering.
SPEAKER_00
I like lip liner.
SPEAKER_01
I mean, I do too, but not remember we used to wear that dark, dark brown lip liner. Yeah. That was horrible. It was, but it was so in style. Nah, nah. What about bobos? Remember we used to have those shoes, the bobos?
SPEAKER_00
What are bobos?
SPEAKER_01
Oh, or uh uh scrunchy socks.
SPEAKER_00
Oh, the um leg warmers. Yes, yes, yes. I like what are bobos?
SPEAKER_01
Those those are those shoes, those those white shoes that we used to wear back in the day. Oh, like the platform ones? Not platforms. No. Yeah, you'll have to look it up.
SPEAKER_00
I have to look it up. I don't know what bobos are. Um neon colors. Oh. Saved by the bell had all the neon colors. Yes, they do. And we wanted to be in whatever they were wearing. Yes, neon. Oh, I mean, cross colors, those. We love some colors. Oh my goodness. And my least favorite, and every time I see one of these pictures, I cringe. Shoulder pads.
SPEAKER_01
Oh yes.
SPEAKER_00
The higher the shoulder pads.
SPEAKER_01
Shoulder pads are back too. They're making their way back.
SPEAKER_00
You should you should not be nine years old with shoulder pads out here. Okay, so speaking of that, the cardinal sin of them all.
SPEAKER_01
What is it? Glamour shots. Oh my god. Got one of those pictures of glamour shots. 12 years old looking like you're 40. Yes. What were we thinking? What were we thinking? That was the cardinal sin of all of them was glamour shots. But everybody got them though. Too grown. Too grown.
SPEAKER_00
Oh my god.
SPEAKER_01
Too grown. Speaking of grown. Oh. Another hot topic. Yes. Songs we had no business singing as kids.
SPEAKER_00
The ones that I hear now, I'm like, oh my gosh, these are so graphic. But when I was doing research for this topic, we had no business.
SPEAKER_01
No, super grown. Oh my god. We didn't know what one word meant. No, sing it with our whole chest.
SPEAKER_00
No business. No business. Uh my first one, Janet Jackson. Anytime, anyplace. Oh man. Bangs today. I mean, really, Janet? No business. Not now, yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_01
But back then, scandalous. Well, while we're talking about sex, how about salt and pepper? Let's talk about sex. Right?
SPEAKER_00
We just that was your dance. No business. No business. Plus. Genuine pony. Yes. Rod the pony. No. No. No. No business singing that song. Not at all. What was Sierra's song? Her daughter Rodney. See? That's exactly what I mean. Sierra was like, no, that can't be your favorite. She's like, yeah, I love it. And we're thinking ourselves, you ain't got no business singing.
SPEAKER_01
She has no clue. She's gonna look back and have the same moments that we just had. Exactly. That was a cute moment, though. Yeah. How about TLC's red light special?
SPEAKER_00
Yeah. Mm-hmm. I still think like TLC's waterfalls was too grown. No.
SPEAKER_01
No. I mean, all of it actually, because we had no business singing it.
SPEAKER_00
No, no. But yeah, you're right.
SPEAKER_01
How about uh Keith Sweat, nobody? No.
SPEAKER_00
We shouldn't have been, we shouldn't have been singing that one. No, not at all. Out of pocket. Totally out of pocket. Uh, till the cops come knocking. Oh, yes. I love it. Till the cops come knocking.
SPEAKER_01
I love it, but inappropriate. Totally inappropriate. How about uh anything from Aaron Hall? Let's chill. I like. You know they caught him, right? They finally served him. Yeah, they finally caught up to him to serve him. For what? We'll talk about that in another show. Ciao! But Let's Chill and I Like, I love those songs. Inappropriate. Inappropriate.
SPEAKER_00
Oh, we got to talk about this. Yes. My ultimate inappropriate? What? Darling Nikki. What is that? Prince. Anything. His booty cheeks was out. Sister. If you haven't heard Darling Nicki, I'm gonna play it for you.
SPEAKER_01
I've never heard that song before.
SPEAKER_00
Darling Nicki was masturbating to a magazine. Oh. Yes.
SPEAKER_01
Okay. Alright. No, I've never heard that song. Or maybe I have and just don't know the title.
SPEAKER_00
Oh, child.
SPEAKER_01
How about Freak Me Baby by Silk?
SPEAKER_00
Inappropriate. Inappropriate. Absolutely inappropriate. Oh my gosh. All of those.
SPEAKER_01
We had no business. No business. No business.
SPEAKER_00
Yeah. I I don't I remember we were not allowed to listen to Uncle Luke.
unknown
Nothing.
SPEAKER_00
Absolutely not.
SPEAKER_01
First of all, Luke, Uncle, anything. He ain't our Uncle. That was the most inappropriate part about it. We done made him family.
SPEAKER_00
Yeah. Don't stop. Yeah. Yeah. No. Uh, and then push put Trina in there. Oh, yeah. Oh, everything.
SPEAKER_01
I listened to it all. I know. We had no business. I want to hear from y'all though. Yes. What songs did you have no business singing that you look back and make you cringe? And let's stop judging these kids today.
SPEAKER_00
I don't anymore.
SPEAKER_01
Yeah, because again, you just heard these songs. Inappropriate. Yeah. But still classics to today. They are. Yeah. I'm a jam to all of them today. Are you though? I am. All of them.
SPEAKER_00
That's so funny. Songs we didn't have to listen to. Yeah. Well, thank songs we had to listen to. I love it. There we go. That was a quick episode. I know. Um, so I have the Sister Culu today. And we have our drink. We have a uh from Cooper's Hot, we have a blueberry asaii bubbly sangria. And I'm really excited to try this because it's a sparkling wine, and you know, I don't steer you wrong with the wine. Well, let me be the judge of that. Alright, well, let's try it. Let's see what we think.
SPEAKER_01
Oh yeah. I like it. Normally don't miss. I do enjoy being a wine club member.
SPEAKER_00
Yes. And uh there's so many different choices. Um, and you can always talk to somebody to get a recommendation. But um this is a good one. Yeah, I love it. So my sister salute. We're coming up to spring, but we're planning for summer, and my sister salute are to those who are planning their family reunion. Oh, yeah, I cannot wait. And at this time when we need family and when we need community so much, it's time to get the planning. We got to get the t-shirts, the barbecues, we got to get the banquets and hotels and all that. So for anybody planning their family reunion, getting the people together, hats off to you because Lord knows is a lot.
SPEAKER_01
Yes, it is. And we have our family reunion coming up this year. Yes.
SPEAKER_00
Yes, cannot wait. I'm so excited. I went to the city and I already started researching restaurants and stuff, and I have them saved. We eaten everywhere.
SPEAKER_01
Well, I already got a lawn sister there. I'm flying in early to go hook up with my lawn sister, and any places that you see, let me let her vet them. Oh, yes. So we know that we're going to the top tier places while we're there. We eaten everywhere.
SPEAKER_00
I'm so excited. So excited. Here we go. Well, uh, in our traditional salute to the sister who dared, to the sister who cared, to the sister who said yes to herself. We see you, we celebrate you, and we salute you with a tears.
