Hello, sister. Hello, sister. Welcome to Hello Sister Podcast with Tiffin Ange, episode 24. 24. Woohoo! We rollin'. Yeah. As always, a great episode. First of all, before we get started, I'm sorry. I don't know if it's the angle, but the color is popping. Oh, thank you, sister.
SPEAKER_01I did.
SPEAKER_02I mean, naturally, I did. But no, it really does look good. Thank you. I appreciate that. You're welcome. And I love the pearls with it. Oh, sister. All you. Yes. Well, as always, we have a great episode for you. We're going to start off with a little bit around the social media world. We have a what the Florida. Of course. Yes. America turns 250. Freedom Day. Independence Day, Freedom Day, whatever we want to call it. We'll talk about it. We'll talk about it. Uh, LeBron is leaving the Lakers. Oh my god. I know. I'm really surprised about that. We'll talk about that. We have another messy minute. You all like to send us videos and questions, and so we have a good one for you today. And we'll end in a sister salute. You ready to do this thing? Yeah, let's do it. Let's do it. All right, around social media around social media. Oh my god. So I have been watching a show on Netflix. It's a South African drama called The Polygamist.
SPEAKER_01You have not stopped talking about this.
SPEAKER_02I know. I want y'all to watch it. It's 22 episodes on Netflix. And I like, you know, different country soap operas anyway. But this, this right here, this show right here. Hooked. Yeah. Hooked. So totally uh crazy show. It's right up our alley. Spoiler alert, if you're trying to watch it, I'm not going to tell you everything, but I am going to give a little bit of details. Okay. So basically, it follows the Gamor family, and in particular, Joyce Gamor. She has is a very affluent wife. Privilege, money, social lights, has her own sponsorship and podcasts and social media. And she's married to a very successful businessman. She thinks she has a happy home. Come to find out, they ain't so happy. The husband is a serial cheater. Oh no. Terrible serial cheater. And she makes some decisions that affects the family, and she basically tries it to hold things together like what women always do. So it's called The Polygamus. It's 22 episodes, and I watched it in two days. Oh. It's not long, uh, but it's good good chunks episodes to the point where I just couldn't stop. Okay. Yeah, it was good. It was good. But it's not just me. This show has over 2 million views in the first week that it came out and is trending as number one in over 16 countries.
SPEAKER_01Wow.
SPEAKER_02Social media is talking about it, but it's a really, really good South African show. So if you haven't seen The Polygamus, definitely think it's a summer watch that you should be watching. Um, and then tell me what you think about it once you do watch it.
SPEAKER_01You have been talking about this show nonstop. So I am gonna watch it. I I don't know if I say I'm looking forward to it, but I can't scroll my timeline or talk to you without it coming up. Like it's really popular.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's extremely popular, definitely all around social media, your hottest podcast, and others are talking about it. And you know, bottom line is like most things, it's men cheating.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, oh well Lord. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Speaking of men cheating, while we're talking about men cheating, did you hear what Shaq said when he was on the podcast? I did, and I usually like Shaq. Yeah, well, he blames women for cheating, he feels like we control cheating or not cheating. So basically, he was on a podcast and he said that there are three types of cheaters, and women really run the world, and cheating is all in our hands, and men cheat because of their women. So he says that there are three types of cheating men. There's the James Bond, the ones who are forced to cheat, and then the serial cheaters. So the James Bond are the guys who do everything right, they appear on surface like they're the wonderful husbands, but they get an opportunity, they go cheat, they're slick, they're sly, they're gonna go do what they want to do and come home like nothing ever happened, and you'll never know about it. So that's the James Bond.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02Uh he then talked about those who are forced to cheat. So women just aren't taking care of business, they're not caring for their man, looking out for them, meeting their needs where they need them to meet it, and therefore it's their fault. So therefore, they're forced to go out and cheat. And then he just talks about the serial cheater, which is self-explanatory, guys that just can't help themselves, have impulses, and just go do what they want to do. But basically, what he's saying though is that women run the world and we just don't know it. Happy life, happy wife, happy life, and that means that if you provide a happy life, then you get a happy life. If you provide what men need, then you get what men need from them, from you, and therefore you keep a happy man. But it's really all up to the women in order to provide that, and therefore we're all in control, and men just kind of acquiesce to whatever type of lifestyle that we provide for them. His feedback. The girl was like, I don't think so. And he was like, I don't care what you think, this is how it works. Exactly.
SPEAKER_01So he doesn't care, and this is the exact reason why we live the way we live. I cannot control your impulse, right? So if you want to do what you want to do and you're going to act on your impulse, how do I have any control over that?
SPEAKER_02Because if you're acting like a wife and and doing all the things that meet his needs, then therefore he has no reason to go out and cheat.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so again, just going by what he said, the James Bond cheater, everything is perfect in his life.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_01There's nothing wrong. His wife is doing everything that she's supposed to do. It just so happens that in his example, he's in Rio, he sees something he likes, he act is on acts on impulse, and then he cheats.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_01What did she do wrong? He didn't say. In his second example, the serial cheater, what did she do wrong?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01So just in his third example, where he's talking about being forced to cheat. You're not forced to cheat. If your wife is not providing you that for you and is not providing you the sex that you need, that takes a conversation.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_01And if she's still not doing it after you asked, begged, pleaded, then this person is not going to provide that for you. Right. Therefore, if you prioritize that in your life and that's something that you need, leave. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Leave or have an open conversation to determine if I want to leave.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_02Hence the polygamist. Uh well.
SPEAKER_01I just I I think there is a an accountability issue in our society. Yeah. I it is not my fault what you do. Right. It's just like our example for is it cheating if uh you booty shake dance on another man? Please don't bring that up. I am.
SPEAKER_02Or help me. Please don't bring that up.
SPEAKER_01I am just dancing, right? But he is trying to get off. How is that my fault that he is trying to get off? That is a male understanding the male mind that is not my problem, not my fault. So again, your impulse has nothing to do with me. It's your impulse. If you are a serial cheater, you should not get into a monogamous relationship.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_01Period. If you are a person who has impulse control, you should not get into a monogamous relationship. Why is that her fault? And Shaq spent so many years talking about how he regretted cheating on Shawnee. Yeah, he did. And how he wished he hadn't messed up that relationship. Yeah. And he hasn't been in uh another marriage since. Right. So why would you blame the woman when you know it was your impulse control that ruined the relationship? So I think it's an accountability issue. You can do what you want to do on your time outside of a relationship. Don't be in a relationship. Do you think that's your choice? Do you think that's most men's perspective? Absolutely not. You know. I think that's Shaq's perspective. I think most men don't cheat. I think most men are in their marriages and they enjoy their wives and they enjoy their families and they probably wish they got a little bit more, but they're not out here looking for it. They're looking to have a relationship with their wife.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And you and Sean are a fantastic example of a couple who's been together for years who plan to make this work for the rest of your lives. Sean has all the freedoms in the world to go to Rio and he will not cheat.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01He better not cheat.
SPEAKER_02He he got it too. But he don't have me in a point of guessing or challenging or even, you know, thinking about it that way.
SPEAKER_01And Sean has great impulse control. It has nothing to do with you. And if he does cheat, he understands the consequences. I'm out. And he weighs the consequences to his actions and he controls his impulse. That's what manhood is. And these boys out here blaming women for their impulse control. You can keep it to yourself. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, all right. Moving on. Yes. Well, speaking of impulse control, so another thing around social media was Montel Jordan was um on Funky Friday. So Cam Newton's podcast. I do. I don't know why. It just between that and Pivot Podcast, those two podcasts are just my favorite ones where I feel like they I resonate with the topics. And more importantly, like it's what people are talking about. So Funky Friday. Okay. Hot mess, first of all. But I like it. So Montel Jordan is on Cam Newton's show, and he's talking about um never in your marriage having a prenup. Ever, ever, ever. And the reason he says that is because it ultimately gives you an out, it gives you an easy solution to not have to work towards something that should be a lifelong commitment, which is marriage. So he talked about an analogy of a pilot and how on commercial flights, pilots are not allowed to have uh airchutes, airchutes. And the reason is is because they should never be thinking that there's any alternative other than to land that plan safely, plane safely.
SPEAKER_01Great analogy.
SPEAKER_02Yep, so I love that. And he said this should be the same thing in a marriage. There should never be an option that makes it easy for you to leave. Rather than you having uh a prenup that gives you half, you should stay for the good and the bad and have it all. And he says in his marriage, he has had the good, the bad, he has gone through all the craziness that you can think of in life with his partner. They've made things through, they've committed to each other, and ultimately, no prenup. People have advised him differently, and he's living proof that it can work with having no prenup. Now, I told you my story when I had nothing and a family member was recommending that I get a prenup. I didn't. Um, but what do you think? Is that something that people should evaluate their life, their lifestyle, and determine if they should have some sort of written agreement, prenuptial agreement that outlines rights and privileges should there be a separation?
SPEAKER_01I think to each his own. So there are plenty of billionaires out there who meet a bartender and they decide to get married. Not a bartender, I mean it happens, and they decide to get married, and you know, two, three years later, she's not the one, and now she's walking away with half a billion dollars. Yeah. So I think it depends on where you are and and how you choose to protect yourself. I go into it in a different mindset. I believe that your business merging with another business, and does it make good business sense to take your billion-dollar corporation by a startup? If the startup fails, they walk away with half of your assets. I I feel very differently about it now that I'm divorced and had to divide and had to make those kinds of decisions. That's not easy. Before divorce, I would have said, no, never, Prina. But understanding what we're building now and where we're going in the future, it would be advantageous to me to protect protect myself. Uh and also um, you know, to each his own. If he wants to give half his billions away, I mean to a billionaire, what's losing 500 million? 500 million. It is 500 million, but can you do you have to really change your lifestyle?
SPEAKER_02Well, sometimes it's about winning.
SPEAKER_01It is about winning, though.
SPEAKER_02That's a part of the issue.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But also if y'all walk into it with nothing and you split what you've built together, that would be fair. So I I just think it just depends on the situation, but um I feel differently now that I'm divorced. So I I just I'm not gonna make decisions for other people's relationships.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I just personally feel like I wish people would invest more time and energy into the relationship than taking away from it. Whether that's cheating, like you have to cheating, is hard. It's not like it's an easy thing to just go do. You gotta plan, you gotta lie, you gotta look at someone's face, you gotta coordinate. Sometimes you're paying money for stuff, like all that it's uh it's work, is what I'm trying to say. Can you go cheat? Absolutely, but you have to keep up momentum of certain things. If you're a serial cheater, oh yeah, that is something that is just as much time and energy that you could invest into your marriage and protect your marriage and invest into each other that is just as time consuming as not. So I think people need to focus on picking the right people. That is very true. You know, it's easy to get married, hard to get divorced. Well, maybe it should be hard to get married and hard to get, you know, harder to get divorced. Agreed. But I just think that um, you know, it takes two people giving a hundred percent, and you can't give a hundred percent if you're focused on twenty percent and and into someone else.
SPEAKER_01So I have a great question that I'd love to ask you. Okay. Do you believe that you should have to renew your marriage license?
SPEAKER_02Are we talking about a piece of paper or court or the vows and the act of recommitment? Both.
SPEAKER_01Like, do you believe every 10 years or maybe every five years? Like a driver's license, like a driver's license, you have to go back and renew your marriage certificate and you have to choose that other person over and over again. And if you choose not to renew it, that you can walk away easier if you have to make the choice. Woo!
SPEAKER_02I mean, it's easy for me to say because I just renewed my vow, so clearly I am in a committed, right? I'm I choose him. But for others, I can only imagine after 10 years that we may have people who don't choose their partner. And I sh I struggle with the purity, the bonds, and the importance of two parent homes and relationships. Yes. Making it easier to me doesn't feel like the right solution. At the same time, staying in a bad relationship and doing all the things you want to do as a James Bond doesn't feel good either.
SPEAKER_01So I think my question to further probe is if you know that the per other person has to choose you again, would you put in more effort understanding that it could all end? Now, I again I understand biblical principle. I understand that once you get married, the Lord says you're supposed to be with that person until death to us part. Get that part, cut that for a second.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, well, not for a second. 50% of marriages fail.
SPEAKER_01They do. So now understanding that because it is something that could end, would you put in more effort understanding that? And even if you get like down to year nine and you're like, dang, she gotta choose me again next year. Oh, let me put in a little bit more effort. Would you do that in order to be re-chosen?
SPEAKER_02I would hope that that would be the mindset if you have to do it, just like you know, trying to renew your driver's license so you ain't gotta take that test again. I would hope that that would be the mindset. I just don't think it would. I think it'd be the easy out versus the work harder and and renew that commitment to a person. So um like the concept though. I do feel like that's missing, and I think that we should make it harder for people to get married, and I do think we gotta think of something because it can be a beautiful thing to have that partnership, but if you don't pick the right person, I also don't believe in suffering through life just because you picked a person that you thought was going to be appropriate and it doesn't work that way.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I say this all the time to myself, to my friends. In the scope of forever, is this something you can deal with?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And if the answer is yes, then you work through it. And if the answer is no, keep it moving. And I don't think it's an easy decision to make to get divorced. It is a very hard decision. It was not an easy decision for me. Oh, absolutely not. But at the end of the day, in the scope of forever, is this person my person forever? And can I deal with this if nothing changes? Can I deal with this forever? Yeah. And if the answer is yes, you keep going. If the answer is no, you make a decision.
SPEAKER_02Make some decisions. Speaking of making a decision, so I love Steve Harvey, and I know I'm gonna get blasted. So he wrote the book to help women. I personally I loved it. I loved it. I feel like it helped me. My husband after the fact said, You Steve Harvey'd me. I really didn't do anything wrong. I just asked the right questions that gave me the right answers and allowed him to show me with validation and a clear mind that I was making an appropriate decision for someone who really loved me and I could love too. So I didn't use it as a Bible, but I did use it as a way to understand myself, to understand him, to make a better decision. So speaking of Steve Harvey, not sure if he has a prenup or not, but you know, he got remarried. He chased his girl, he got remarried. Um, and he talked about protecting your relationship. And I think this kind of goes back to um why marriage doesn't feel sacred anymore. But anyway, he said um that he was making sure that he's protecting his marriage by not putting himself in situations to be tempted or to be talked about. So if he goes out to events, he's where he's supposed to be. He's not going to the after party, he's not going to the after event. His wife is going with them. He's checking in, he's doing the things that make her feel comfortable so she doesn't even have to question or wonder what's up with him, is he doing right by her? And is there anything that she should be worried about?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I love that. It's not about her insecurities, it's more about showing her you're the priority.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02People are gonna blast us for that. But the reality is if the marriage is important to you and you're putting her first 100%, this shouldn't be difficult. Conversely, she should be doing the same thing. Correct. You should never have to wonder if she loves you. You should feel the support, you should feel the love, you should see the acts of kindness, you should feel everything when it comes to a relationship that drives you to want to do those things too. So it's not one-sided, but it's appreciated because he is in the limelight, he is doing the things that put him in situations that he could be tempted, and he's choosing to outwardly and hopefully behind closed doors do the right thing. Yes, I love it.
SPEAKER_01The opposite of what Shaq was talking about. Absolutely the opposite. So understanding a man, himself understanding himself as a man with impulse control issues, he does not put himself in a situation where he has to act impulsively.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_01So if he's going to Rio, he's taking his wife with him. Right. Or go. Or if he has to go, he understands I'm on the FaceTime with her, I'm taking uh somebody that works with me, um, I have an accountability buddy that will be there with me to make sure I'm not doing what I'm not supposed to do. Right. So if I'm not eating or in my meeting, I'm in my hotel room and I got my wife on the FaceTime.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01If you are a person with impulse control issues, you can control what you can control. Don't put yourself in situations that somebody could say, Oh, well, Steve was there. I bet he did, blah, blah, blah.
SPEAKER_02That's what's what you're talking about.
SPEAKER_01That's exactly what he's protecting himself from. I love it. I think it's great, and uh it takes maturity and self awareness. And I'm not gonna say all men lack maturity and self-awareness.
SPEAKER_02Please don't, because they're gonna come for us.
SPEAKER_01Just the men in our comments.
SPEAKER_02How about that?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but it it's beautiful. I love it. I think it is very mature, very wise. And I hope he's sharing that knowledge to provide that information to other generations who are coming up behind him. They kind of need to know it's not her fault that you can't control your impulses. It's my job to make sure that she feels secure in my actions.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. In your actions. And key point. She needs to be secure for herself. You need to be secure for yourself, which then creates security for you both.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. I love it. I love it. Okay. Steve Harvey's book gave me a true principle that I have really tried to live by. And that is to not let sex cloud your judgment in a relationship. So I stick to the 90-day rule as a uh I'd say as a guideline. But I stick to the 90-day rule just because I know within a couple of dates if I'm gonna like you or not. So I'm not gonna sleep with you on the first date and realize that we're great compatibility, we have great compatibility sexually, and then nothing else matters to me. I'm going to let our chemistry build, and then I'm going to uh feel you out. I mean, actively dating doesn't mean actively sleeping with everyone. So um a guy who's really into you doesn't mind waiting a little longer to get to know you. So that's the one rule that I take with me, and then the questions, like you said, the questions that he asked asked him about what his uh uh values are and his future looks like because if you're not equally yoked, what what do we even talk about? Yeah. So you add on it. I did take away several things from the book, but that number one thing I took away was that 90-day rule.
SPEAKER_02I think it's a normal person. I promise. A lifetime is a good enough time to love someone. You don't need to rush on the front end, don't let yourself be yoked, but definitely don't feel like you have to get married in two days.
SPEAKER_01Agreed. I love it. Well, sister, this has been such a great conversation, and I appreciate uh all of around the social media, but we don't need to go around the world, we can stay right here in Florida. Oh, I know what that means. It's time for what the Florida. What the Florida. So when I read this story, I don't know if Sean Sean sent this to me. When I read this story, I was like, I love and I hate technology. So I need you to hear this the way that I read it. Because what the Florida. Okay, give it to me. A Duval school board candidate used AI to create black supporters into campaign photo. District 6 candidate Clarence James, who was running for to replace current school board chair Charlotte Joyce, recently shared a series of photos promoting a campaign fish fry at a local church. Among them was an image showing James and two other men surrounded by what appeared to be black supporters. A closer look revealed that the crowd was not real. Several faces appeared distorted. One woman appeared to have three feet. What? So it was clear. Very clear. After spotting the image, accent Action News Jack's reporter Deja Mayfield, who I love her, she is adorable, left a comment on James's Facebook post questioning its authenticity. Right? Moments later, the image was replaced with a different photo with only the two original men. The post comes as artificial intelligence continues to make its way into political campaigns across Florida. Last week, the same news station reported about an AI-generated photo shared by an account associated with Kubernetes candidate Jay Collins that depicted a dystopian future under the leadership of frontrunner Congressman Byron Donalds. In the world. So James's Facebook post is another example of candidates using AI-generated content as a part of their public messaging. And because of this, uh Florida law passed in 2024 made it illegal for candidates to use AI-generated deepfakes into advertisements without clearly disclosing that the content was artificially created. So this image that James posted does not appear to violate that law.
SPEAKER_02It's just easy.
SPEAKER_01It is a reality in this day and age how candidates are using AI to provide misinformation. And of course, James's camp has declined all requests for comments. Of course they have.
SPEAKER_02First of all, you in Jacksonville. You can't tell me you can't.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I guess that not enough people came to the church for the fish fry.
SPEAKER_02I get that. But post two people. It's okay to say you were at Tiffany Baptist Church in Jacksonville with two people. Like that wasn't gonna hurt anything. What hurts is you lying. How can I trust you with anything? How can I trust you with making decisions? How can I trust you in representation if you are not doing what's best already? And he's a school board candidate.
SPEAKER_01Oh so how do I trust you with my children? Oh my gosh, this is a mess. Keep in mind, as you said, in Duval County, there's no lack of people of color. No, there's not. Go to a park. Literally. And just stand there and take a picture with the people in the background. No keep events. Host an event. Host five events. But if you're gonna be events, if you're gonna be deceitful, the easiest thing to do is to go.
SPEAKER_02Take a real picture and take a real picture.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's wild to me. Whether you talk to the people or not, it's a real picture.
SPEAKER_02You couldn't even check your picture to see she had three people. And you was lazy with it. And who did it? Like, I'm not the best with AI, but I'm pretty sure I can give it a good prompt. You could that that helps me to be able to uh to do it. Hell, one of my friends, we went to the movies to go see Super Mario Brothers with his family, and we could not get a good background. So he just used chat and took a whole background and put us in there. We looked like we were a part of a new universe. So you can't tell me that you couldn't have taken your time and found a real picture, taken a real picture, or a minimum checked your work school board.
SPEAKER_01Deja said, I'm not playing with you. Come on, Deja. Come on, Deja. It's just so wild to me that this is actually a story. And it's not the first in Florida to the point where they had to make a law banning AI.
unknownWhat?
SPEAKER_01Florida. Yeah. Story of our lives. Never ceases to amaze me. Well, we don't have to stay in Florida. We can go back to the United States. And this year, the US turns 250. Oh, yay! Freedom. No, no, nobody said that. We said that the United States turned 250. This is our independence from Great Britain. Yes. And uh understanding that everyone was not freed on that day, we can still celebrate 250 years of uh this country building. You know, other countries have had thousands of years to try to get it right. So we're still young in relatively relativity to the world. Um, and I also want to point out that this is the only country that we know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. That's true.
SPEAKER_01We've never lived anywhere else.
SPEAKER_02No, that's true.
SPEAKER_01And this is our home.
SPEAKER_02She's so glass half full today.
SPEAKER_01I am.
SPEAKER_02This day is the 4th of July.
SPEAKER_01It is. It's not a holiday.
SPEAKER_02Tomorrow is the 5th for me. You do.
SPEAKER_01Look at what's going on right now in the World Cup. The United States has moved to the group of 16 for the first time in I don't know how long. USA! We are united behind our USA team in the World Cup. I'm so excited. Yes. I don't even like soccer, like talking about, but to know that the US is in the World Cup and we're about to play in the group of 16, I'm so excited. Yeah, sports always unites us. Exactly. And understanding that the world's eyes are on us, we have an obligation to not air out our madness in front of the world. And I think or air it out and get it done and get it over with and move on. Either way, this is a great time to be united. Um no, but I I feel like this is the best time to show who we are, especially during this World Cup talk, because I'm really excited about us moving forward and potentially being the group of eight. Like, can you imagine?
SPEAKER_02I mean, I'm super excited about it. I'm excited for all of the countries to have pride and representation. And when we're a part of that pact, as we get to the best of the best, it all obviously feels good and should be representative of how we show up as a country to the world as well.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02You hear something crazy? I don't know if I can take any more crazy. It's not a what the Florida in a bad way, but it's a Florida thing. Okay. So Luther Campbell is running for Congress. Congress, you know who that is?
SPEAKER_01Uncle Luke! I want to rock. I don't want to rock. I don't want to I don't want to, I don't want to stop, pop that, pop that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, land of the free, I guess. So he's running for Florida's 20th Congressional District. Oh my god. After the prior candidate stepped down for ethical reasons. So what's crazy is uh South Florida traditionally helps run and make our state pretty red. Yeah. So he is running for office and running for supporters and looking to see what he can do positive for the state of Florida and his congressional district, 20th district down in South Florida.
SPEAKER_01Only in America. Only in America. Well, that's a again, America turns to 50. Look at what we can do. We can put Uncle Luke, the king of Freaknik. Yes, child. As in in Congress to make change for his people. Growth happens.
SPEAKER_02Do you think we can overlook his past and see growth now and give him that opportunity to represent and do something good with his power and influence and money that he's accumulated and wisdom that he's gotten now that he's older?
SPEAKER_01Of course. I mean, what you do when you're in your teens and 20s and early 30s. And maybe even 40s. Wait, wait a minute, hold up. I think the things you do, if if everybody had a camera back when we were younger, the things that we did and didn't get caught doing. Speak for yourself. Hey, look. You was out there with me. What are we talking about?
SPEAKER_02I may have been your lookout, but I was a big girl.
SPEAKER_01You may have been my lookout. No, I mean you know what was really funny. They were talking about the aunties at Freak Knit, because now they're, you know, older, a little bit older than us. And they were shaking in their boots about being on the documentary. So again, cameras and camp quarters, they were not a thing that we had with us at all times. So I forgive some of the things that you mistakes that you make as a younger person, but what has he done since? And that would be the scrutiny that I would have. So like between 40 and now, what do you do for your community? What have you done? You can't just step up and say, I want to. What are the actions you've been taking to represent your district and how you've set yourself apart and shown that you've grown in the time in between?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and I'm sure he has because you don't get that type of a seat and support and think that you can unless you have done something positive. It's not my district, so I don't follow him. But this is traditionally the start of something greater, so I will be following you, Luther. Luther? Mr. Campbell.
SPEAKER_01I cannot wait to see his campaign, and I cannot wait to see the party after he wins.
SPEAKER_02You know, he was a part of the aka uh uh event. He wasn't called out because Drip Daddy was the one that was busting it wide open. He followed the instructions that he was given.
SPEAKER_01He followed the instructions that he was given. Okay, so now he's showing growth. He is actually following it. He did not. He followed his instructions. Well, Uncle Luke, if you want to come on the podcast and do a little campaigning, we're happy to have you.
SPEAKER_02Home of the brave, land of the free chair.
SPEAKER_01He's so funny. Speaking of free, guess who wants his freedom? Freedom? Mm-hmm. LeBron James. He is leaving the Lakers. He's leaving LA? He is leaving LA. I am shocked. Yeah. I mean, he's not retiring? He's not retiring. He wants to play for another team and he wants to leave the Lakers.
SPEAKER_02So this is deja vu because he wanted to go back home to Cleveland to win his championship.
SPEAKER_01And then he did and he left.
SPEAKER_00Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01So he won in Miami. He won in Cleveland. He won in LA. And now he's ready to go and leave the Lakers. Wow.
SPEAKER_02I mean, that's that's huge. I mean, he's he's really done everything he wanted to. He wanted to do all those things and did it. He wanted to play with his son and did it. I wonder where he wants to go.
SPEAKER_01I believe this is just my theory, and I haven't heard anybody else say it, but I also haven't been listening for it. I believe he's going somewhere to set up Bryce James.
SPEAKER_00Ah.
SPEAKER_01So his younger son is in Arizona right now. He is a redshirt freshman. Uh so high school? No, Arizona. University. Sorry, yeah. I'm sorry. This is this is why we can't talk sports. I know, I know. Keep going, keep going. I got you. Catch me up. He's in Arizona. And he redshirted his freshman year. And so now this is his first year that he's actually gonna be playing. Well, Bronny came out after one year and into the NBA. Yeah. So I think LeBron is going somewhere for a year to set up the team so that Bryce can come and walk into a successful team and a successful unit. Do you think he still has that pool to do that? I think he does. I mean, LeBron James brings in people just because of his name. Yeah. He's not in his prime, but people still do enjoy watching him play. No, he's awesome. And people love hating on him too. And they want to see him fail. Absolutely. So people will pay the money to see him succeed. People will pay the money to see him fail. No matter how you feel about him, you're still paying your money.
SPEAKER_02I hope that's the plan. I really do. Can you imagine playing with not one but two of your sons? I I I don't know why he's still playing now. He's 40.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Them them knees back. It got to hurt. Them 40s hit a little different. Now they do have money for all of the therapies that he needs. However, it's is I think he's feeling that he's winding down, and I think he wants to pay play with Bryce and then that he'll retire.
SPEAKER_02I hope that that's the right theory. Let's follow this one and we'll come back to you all to see what's up. Definitely. Good luck, LeBron. Happy for him. I'm shocked.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02A little messy, huh? It is. Speaking of messy. Messy. Yes. So y'all are messy. Okay. Very much so. Not only the comments. The comments are messy. Y'all got me engaged, messy. Wild. Totally wild. A little fun, but definitely wild. I'm glad I don't do the comments. Yeah, that's that's all me. But whoo! So the comments are wild. But what's even more crazy is our DMs between dudes trying to holler at I don't know which one of us because they just say identified.
SPEAKER_01They don't say which one.
SPEAKER_02And also some of the videos and questions you all send us. Please keep doing that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It's fun. Some of it we can't even respond to. Some of it we're like, absolutely not. That's not something we can cover. People already hate us in the comments. Like, you're not nah. And some of it is actually entertaining. So we started a segment called Messy Minute, and it's where you all are sending us videos or you all are sending us questions. And if it's something that fits within our segments, we're going to talk about it. So we got a question, and it is about relationships. And we've been posting a lot about relationships. And someone asked the question around what are you overlooking in the beginning of your relationships that are red flags? Flag on a ballet. What are you overlooking early in these relationships that could have given you something later on to where you don't end up in the situations that you're in later on? Thought it was a great question. Excellent question. Red flags that you're overlooking. So, what do you think?
SPEAKER_01I think my first one would be your significant other's friends. What kind of circles are they running in? Are they running in circles where everyone is a working professional with a family? Are they uh somebody married? Are they a circle of bros? I don't know how many uh times people mentioned in our comments be a passport bro. So if all of his friends are passport bros, when they go on their guys' trips, where do you think they're going? What do you think they're doing?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh so I think friends is a good thing. What kind of circles do they run in? Relationships with their family.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. If you have no relationships with anyone, no.
SPEAKER_01That's a red flag too.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Not doesn't mean that things didn't happen that you shouldn't be talking about and you can't move forward with it, but it's definitely a red flag, yellow flag.
SPEAKER_01You have no positive relationships in your life.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01For sure.
SPEAKER_02For me, it is white lies. If you will lie about something so silly when you don't know me, something small when you don't know me, like there's no historical, you tell the truth. Right. You will lie to me for the rest of your life. The answer is no. Yeah. The answer is no. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I was listening to um a comedy strip on my way, comedy set on my way here, and the comedian said, You can't be honest with your wife or your girlfriend because oh, I think it was Kevin Hart. And he said, You can't say, I'm going to feed the pigeons, and really go feed the pigeons. Because when you call to your wife and say, Hey, I'm feeding pigeons, she'd be like, Who you with? What you doing? You feeding pigeons. Really? Um, so he said, You can't be honest and tell the truth. Lies.
SPEAKER_02You can be honest because who feeds pigeons? You do, and guess what? That's been validated in the beginning. Yes. Now, if you're telling me you're feeding pigeons today, I'm gonna call you a lie. Yeah. Still, yeah.
SPEAKER_01No, you're right. White lies are important. If you can't be honest about everything, then I don't think you trust me. And if you don't trust me, why are we moving forward in a relationship? Yeah, totally agree. Agreed. I'd say another red flag to look out for would be um to either omit information or lie about something, knowing that you're gonna ask for forgiveness later. So up front, intention, you're intentionally omitting information or intentionally lying so that you can ask for forgiveness later. And an example of this would be um you know that your significant other would not approve of what you're about to go or what you're about to do, so you just don't say anything, and then later on say, Hey, I know I went to that bachelor party that you I knew you wouldn't like I would, and I'm sorry. I didn't do anything, nothing happened, I was good, I did I upheld our relationship, but uh yeah, I went. So I I think that's not only the same as lying, but it's intentionally deceitful because you know you're gonna ask for forgiveness later. So if you have you have that guilty conscience at the beginning and you know I'm not gonna allow it, why are you doing it anyway? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Red flag on the flag.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I have a story, I'm gonna tell you later. But I have a story and uh about inviting people to a party knowing that I would not approve of this person being there and then apologizing later. Juicy child. We'll talk about that later. Yes, thank you.
SPEAKER_02For me, it's communication. If you have bad communication on the front end, it is only going to get worse. Yeah, I agree. You have to over-communicate in relationships, and good relationships require great communication. Yes. So if you don't return text messages and phone calls after 24 to 48 hours in an age where we live next to our phones, you don't want to talk to me. Yeah. You have to intentionally be ignoring me to not respond to me within 24 hours or 48 hours. For too much, no, you can even say, Hey, I'm working out of town today. Look forward to seeing you when I get back. That's an answer. That is.
SPEAKER_01I'm I mean I like it, but it is a response.
SPEAKER_02And so I don't understand this ghosting andor you know, not when you have an opportunity if you're interested in me and communicating. Those are red flags that you need to run from early.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Uh would you imagine somebody actually saying to you, I'm dating multiple people at the same time. It's kind of hard for me to keep up with all of my messages. Um, I promise to get back to you 24, 48 hours.
SPEAKER_02I would appreciate it. Quick story. So when I was dating my husband, I wanted to Steve Harvey had me a chokehold. I was so honest. And a bad relationship I was coming out of that he cheated on me, and then it just wasn't great. So I just was honest. I told him, I said, Hey, I'm talking to another person. I just want to be honest about it. My husband was like, No, no, you're not. He made it to where I was only thinking about him. Yep. Okay. And still does he still marry today. And still does. But it was the communication, right? It was the pop-ups at work, it was the pop text messages, the phone calls, the extra way that he made me feel. Like he he opened when I communicated openly and honestly, it didn't feel like he was trying to win me from bad intentions. He felt like he understood the assignment and stepped up to the plate to make sure that he was meeting the needs that I communicated that I felt like I needed. I love that. Yes. I love shop. I know. How do you tea? But to the point of communication in the beginning. Yeah. The other person was a I I never felt like a priority. When he was around, I was always the priority. Of course. It made me feel like sweet tea. Of course. When I wasn't around, I was chasing him to figure out when the next time I would actually spend time with him.
SPEAKER_01Right. No, sir. Why did I do that when I got him at home? You know, I don't want to ever feel like I'm the outest.
SPEAKER_02And he's so good to me.
SPEAKER_01Is that the words?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it is. Oh.
SPEAKER_01Okay. That band's so good to her. He got her singing in the middle of her podcast. Sorry.
SPEAKER_02Back to the regular scheduled program.
SPEAKER_01Lord have mercy. Another red flag would be if you have a roommate. And we're talking about not 20s and early 30s or college. We're talking about 40s, 50s, 60s. 60s. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02What if it's a family member?
SPEAKER_01Now it depends on the situation. Okay. Yeah. So if you have an autistic relative who requires not necessarily supervision, but somebody to be close to them and you play the role of that caregiver, then that's that's fine. We're we're talking another grown human that is not in your family that you split in the bills.
SPEAKER_02But what if they got a brother that they love and they're both single and they want to save some money, but they have good jobs and good lives and can do what they want to do. That's still a red flag, or is it a flag that you need to look more into to understand their their situation? Or is that an absolute no?
SPEAKER_01It's an absolute no because you're not creating a space of a person who wants to be in a relationship and have a family. Interesting. Because come for me, but as a a man with a roommate, I am a woman, okay? So if I'm gonna come to your home and have dinner or spend the night, and there's another whole grown-ass man in the house, how comfortable am I going to be maneuvering in your home and there's another man there? Yeah, I'm not gonna be in your kitchen naked cooking eggs in the morning.
SPEAKER_02You got a roommate, and way, way, way before Sean, way, way, way, way before Sean. I was dating this guy and I was at his apartment. And can we with context? This is you in your early 20s. Correct. I was in my 20s. Okay. Very clear. Go ahead. In my twenties, dating this guy, and I remember we were in his room, just in his room, and his roommate came in like he was supposed to be there. It was the oddest thing to me, and it was the biggest turnoff to me. And I was being like, What are you doing? Right. But you didn't know what we were doing, and even though we weren't doing anything, what are you doing? Right. Very odd. It was a boundary, it was weird. He was in his 30s, I was in my 20s. So again, that actually probably was a sign of this grown 30-year-old, yeah, a 30-year-old loser. I mean, he was a loser to me. 30-year-old loser roommate with him.
SPEAKER_01Well, again, this talks about being mature and creating the space for the relationship that you want. So if you are okay in this environment and you're okay living your life and saving money and you know, doing that and being a single guy, that's fine. I'm not saying there's anything wrong wrong with having a roommate. What I'm saying is if you are ready to take on the responsibility of supporting a woman in your life, you have to now create the space to do that. And you need your own place. You need to provide an environment. I'm not saying go get an expensive place, but I'm saying you have to provide an environment that shows that there is space for a female or your significant other to come into your life. I think that's fair. And and women for the same thing. As a woman, you should be responsibly paying your own bills and living in a space that shows that you are ready for the responsibility of caring for your own place. And if you have a roommate, it just it to me it's a red flag. It seems like you're not ready.
SPEAKER_02Fair. I wish I had a flag to throw. Gotcha. Yeah, I like it. Thank you. Do you have any more? I don't. Well, I mean, I'm I do, but we'll move on.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, my last one is uh the your financial stability, um having the roommate and needing the roommate are two different things. Um but also a red flag to me is you're throwing and blowing money fast. Everything is YOLO to you. Let's take that trip. I know I don't have enough money, but I'm gonna put it on my credit card so we can go have fun. You only live once. And that type of financial irresponsibility pours into your actual relationship because now you have to pay bills together. Now you have to um I would hope that he could pay all of his stuff on his own, but if you tack on our things that we do together, you have two people in a house, the water goes up. You got two people in the house, electricity goes up. And now that you have to contribute more into the household, if you're still blowing money fast the way that you were yelling YOLO, that's a red flag to me.
SPEAKER_02Well, especially in these good 40s and 50s. Yeah. I mean, when we were in our 20s, we talked about crazy stuff that we did.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That's not where we are today. It is that's not who we're looking for today.
SPEAKER_01And what is your plan for the future? Are you planning for retirement? What does that look like? Are you gonna work until you're 85? We're talking about planning for retirement. I mean, seriously, I don't want to have to work until I'm 90. I feel you. I feel you. So, what's your plan? What's my plan? How can we plan together so that we can have a great life in retirement? If you out here blowing money now because it's YOLO, where we gonna live? We're gonna live with our kids because you blew all the money.
SPEAKER_02I feel you. I I think it's a red flag. Flag on the play. Throw the flag.
SPEAKER_01He's so funny. That's all I got though.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_02Well, believe it or not, it's the end of the show. Is it? It is. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well, I mean, I'm I'm glad to be uh at the end, but I'm also glad to celebrate this drink that we have.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's what we got today. What are we working with? It's beautiful.
SPEAKER_01We have a tequila sunrise. Damn. And since it's the summertime, we're using 1800 coconuts to make it a little bit more refreshing. It's beautiful. So tequila sunrise is orange juice, grenadine, and tequila. Very simple, usually some ingredients that if you have a bar in your home, you keep stocked. Um, and the 1800, um, it's a smoother tequila, it's 100% agave. I like it too. Very nice. It's not the most expensive, but not the cheapest either. Yeah. Cheers.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Tequila's beautiful. My two favorite colors. So you know I like the harder stuff. I don't do all the swish, swish, and swish. No, no. I like the uh more uh aggressive tequilas. But this is good.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, um I don't want to bombard you with wines. So you gotta mix drink from me. Appreciate it. Thank you, sister. It's delicious. And thank you. I appreciate that. And beautiful. And my sister's salute this week is to Tayana Taylor.
SPEAKER_02Come on, B-E-T.
SPEAKER_01This icon is her year. Yes, it is. It's been a great year. Um, regardless of how you feel about her movie, this award season has been kind to her. She's gone through and gone through all award season for a best supporting actress, and uh she has served us all kinds of looks. Shout out body yaddy yaddy yaddy yaddy yaddy yaddy yaddy and maintained that body through her two children. It is absolutely phenomenal, beautiful. And also uh she was on the BET Awards, which was excellent. Anytime that you bring out Queen Janet, you know you are an icon. Yes, and she got several BET awards and again served every look at night. I just I love the way that she's doing things and she's showing a lot of girl power along the way. Yep. So, Tiana Taylor, you are my sister. Salute. Cheers! Cling, cling, cling, cling, clean.
SPEAKER_02Yep. Amazing, totally worth it. She's totally she's amazing. She is an icon. Janet Jackson presenting that was an incredible thing on the BET Awards. Totally loved all of it.
SPEAKER_01Beautiful sister. Thank you. And that's the end of our episode. So to the rest of our sisters out there, to the sister who dared, to the sister who cared, to the sister who said yes to herself, we see you, we celebrate you, and we salute you. Cheers. Cheers. Cling, click, click, click.
SPEAKER_02I love you, sister. I love you, sister.
SPEAKER_00I'm twenty four.
