Episode 29: Naked Steaks, Hurricane Takes & Step‑Parent Hot Takes
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Episode 29 is a full buffet of manifestation, melanin, melatonin, and Florida doing Florida things and yes, we absolutely mean nude dining.
We kick things off with a question that has the internet split: Do you believe in manifestation and affirmations? The sisters unpack whether speaking it into existence is real or just a cute Pinterest board with vibes.
Then… What the Florida? Hollywood, FL is hosting a monthly nude dinner at CLASS Steakhouse Soiree: a five‑course meal where the dress code is “nothing but confidence.” Seats are limited, prices range from $150–$300, and apparently the only thing hotter than the steak is the guest list.
Around the Social Media World, we dive into the latest digital drama before asking the question: Could YOU survive “The Last House”? Imagine being stuck inside for an unknown amount of time. No timeline. No exit. Just vibes and panic.
Next up: Hurricane Season. Are you prepared? Are you Florida prepared? Because those are two very different things.
Then we get into the hygiene debate that has the girls clutching their body wash: Do you shower every day? Some women say once or twice a week is enough. The sisters… have thoughts.
Sleep rituals? Oh, we’re going there too. Fans, special pillows, melatonin, sleep movies — and the people who need all of the above just to close their eyes.
Finally, we tackle the Rights & Privileges of Step Parents, sparked by two viral videos:
· A mom confronting a stepmom for enforcing a 10pm summer bedtime.
· A father confronting a man in an ice cream parlor who refused to release his child until the girlfriend approved it. The audacity is loud. The sisters are louder.
We close with a heartfelt Sister Salute to Sterling K. Brown, who intentionally and beautifully celebrates dark‑skinned women. We love a man who loves out loud.
If you’re ready for laughs, side‑eyes, deep dives, and a little bit of naked steakhouse energy, tune in now and stay until the end, because Episode 29 only gets better as it goes.
Hello sister. Hello, sister. Welcome to Hello Sister Podcast with Tiff and Ange, episode 29.
SPEAKER_0329.
SPEAKER_00I love it. I know.
SPEAKER_03We're rolling.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03You say that every episode.
SPEAKER_00I do, I do. Do you believe in manifestations?
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_00Like, I still can't believe that this podcast has made its way from the group chat to our car rides home to our planning to being on episode 29.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Like it truly is something that I feel so entirely blessed about. And not just that we did it, but that we get comments and feedback, whether hate or love, that tell us that people are engaged and they like it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I love it. It feels good to know that uh our sister conversations are entertaining to other people the same way it was entertaining to us.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_03But also it's encouragement uh to get the feedback that we should keep going. Agreed. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And we are. We roll it. We're rolling. So you know who put me on to affirmations and manifestations? Who? Your brother. He's such a hippie. He does. He cracks me up. But he was on with this one. Just truly speaking the power of the tongue. And I think about the back half of this year and how we said where we were going to be, the intentions were late. We continue to have this positive outlook. And things are great and are happening for us the way that we would want it to.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_00I'm just very appreciative.
SPEAKER_03You gotta speak life into it.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. And as I'm in my zillennial gap year, I'm actually almost two months into being out of work and focusing on myself and my new career and my family journey, my zillennial gap year. And so many people are cheering for you. I know. Yeah, that makes me feel really good. Because at first I was like, people were like, I don't understand. I don't I don't understand what's happening here. And it's not for you to understand, it's for me to understand. Right. Everyone's like, well, what really happened? What do you mean what happened? I can't make a decision that I need a break. I can't make a decision that I want to go from career to family. I'm doing it, boo. You are stick around. Stick around. Uh there's two songs that I absolutely have to listen to every single day. Okay. So the first one is by um Tony Jones. I think that's her name. Tony Jones. And it's called Take Up Spaces. Yeah. I love that song. When I tell you, it just gives me breath of life. I start singing it again, the power of the tongue. And I just feel like I can be and do what I want to do. Yeah. I've said that song to a couple girlfriends too. It's a good one. It is. Now you know I like a little thuggy ruggy too at times. So a little flip-a-flip a T affirmation. Hi me up. I hi me up. A little bit of that grown in with a little peace and calm of uh take up spaces.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I love that though. Those are two good ones. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Power of the tongue. It is. It is. It is. Well, speaking of the tongue, yeah. Let's get into the show. Let's do it. Alright, let's do it. So we got a great show for you. We're gonna have a funny what the Florida. Oh my gosh. Uh talk a little bit about what's happening around social media, and then we have a really good sister salute.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Alright, so I'm gonna hand it off to you, my sister.
SPEAKER_03Oh man, I have a What the Florida, and this one, it it it is it takes the cake. Like literally takes the cake. So I'm going to read this so you can hear it the way that I read it because this is wild.
SPEAKER_02Florida.
unknownOh my god.
SPEAKER_03The first Monday of every month, Class Steakhouse Soiree in Hollywood, Florida host their nude dinner. What? Yes. What began as a private event for a nudist group quickly became a weekly staple in the restaurant's repertoire. Seating is limited, and guests are served a five-course dining experience for $150 to $300. Now, how can this be health code approved?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that was literally what I was about to say.
SPEAKER_03Well, the staff is fully clothed, the windows are blacked out for privacy, and all guests are offered a robe or a lap towel. Or and a lap towel. And seats are cushioned with leather for maximum cleaning and sanitation purposes. I'm not done, don't sorry. The experience isn't uh available to be reserved online. A direct phone reservation is required. Um and so my question to you is would you attend a nude dinner?
SPEAKER_00No. I don't even, I mean, like nude is just bedtime for me. I I just can't imagine just walking around like, hey boo, how you doing? Oh hey girl.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And then I'm eating dinner, spread evil.
SPEAKER_03Well, these are not your friends and family members.
SPEAKER_00You go there more than once.
SPEAKER_03Strangers.
SPEAKER_00You hope. You might be down the block from your home girl.
SPEAKER_03That's so funny.
SPEAKER_00No, that that would definitely not be my thing. What about you? Um, thinking about it.
SPEAKER_03I I would consider it. Well, when you got a nice body, that's also makes it a little easier to I would consider it, yeah. Alright, so here's my other question. Oh Lord. So you and I always say that we really do enjoy experiences.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_03Okay. So experience. If you in your single days, if uh you told a guy that you wanted a an experience for your first date and he takes you to a nudest dinner, what would you feel like? Like what would you read?
SPEAKER_00How would you react? Well, first of all, anyone who knows me knows that I'm getting on Yelp immediately as soon as I know a name of a restaurant or an event. And if I go on to Yelp and it says nude experience, I'm going to tell him find something else. That's that's not gonna be the first day. You want to see me naked the first day? Yeah, like shouldn't the goal be to get to know me, make me comfortable? So maybe the third or fourth day? You give it up that day easy? I mean, don't get in here judging. I'm just saying that not the first date, not the first time I see you in person to go out and have an experience. I want to be butt naked with you eating steak eggs. That ain't that ain't it. That ain't it. That ain't gonna be the appropriate first date. What about you?
SPEAKER_03Uh no, not first date. Yeah. Like I'm third born. No, uh, we have to be at the point where you're gonna see me naked. And I'm going to probably annoy a lot of guys who are interested in dating me, but it's gonna probably be years before you see me naked. Years?
SPEAKER_00I'm not. That's crazy.
SPEAKER_03I'm not.
SPEAKER_00That's crazy.
SPEAKER_03I'm not. No.
SPEAKER_00I am saving it until you get married.
SPEAKER_03Maybe not necessarily marriage, but until we're on that road.
SPEAKER_00That's so interesting. I mean, listen, do you? Whatever makes you happy.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I I I got a lot of goodness down here.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, back to this restaurant. Okay, sorry. I'm I'm trying to understand. So this is Florida. Yes.
unknownIt's hot.
SPEAKER_01It is hot.
SPEAKER_00So you can't tell me that restaurant don't smell like booty. And people don't wash themselves to begin with, let alone a dinner experience. Right. I cannot imagine what it smells and looks like up in there. Oh, I'm I'm positive they have food smells. Yeah. And then how you like how you truly clean?
SPEAKER_03Oh, it's leather. So you spray some cleaner and sanitizer on it.
SPEAKER_00I'd be thinking about that the whole time. The anxiety in me would not be able to enjoy myself at a new dinner with a whole bunch of people walking around, flapping, yapping, and blacking.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I think if I were to go, I would put something down on the seat. I wouldn't sit there by the bottom of the seat. Yeah. They offer you a towel, so I put the towel down.
SPEAKER_00And they offer you a robe too. So I mean, maybe in a cute robe and people watching, I probably could do the experience. Like that's something I could do with you and me. But I can't I just can't see me and Sean sitting down enjoying a lovely dinner. Five courses. And when I say I like experiences, that that ain't it. That ain't it. Although when we were in Vegas, I wanted to try that blind dinner experience. Oh, I would do that for sure. Yes. So that's a first date I could get done with it. Yes, the blind dinner experience where you can't see, I think would be an experience. But if you try to take me to a nude dinner, I'm gonna think you're crazy. And likely there won't be a second date. There won't be a there won't be a first date. Oh I I I can't do it. So Florida though.
SPEAKER_03I know. So if anybody invites you to class steakhouse soiree on a Monday night, you know what you're getting into. Prepare it again. Bucket naked. Be propion. Bucket naked. Bucket naked. I can't wait to par pan.
SPEAKER_01Bucket.
SPEAKER_00Oh, you're so funny. What the Florida. Oh, yeah. Speaking of living and eating, have you seen the movie The Last House? You know, I haven't seen it, but I heard about it. So The Last House is about a family. Um, and don't they don't know what's happening. It's in Seattle, and it's a little bit of a spoiler alert. So if you don't, you know, if you're trying to watch the movie, I'm not gonna give all the secrets away, but I am gonna say a few things. But uh strange storms hit them and they're in Seattle, and for whatever reason, they are locked in their house. I mean, sealed in doors and windows, totally sealed in. So they're trapped in their house, and they have to figure out how to survive whatever's happening outside of their home, making some very hard decisions, but trying to figure out how do you survive. And think about eating, having resources, going into your pantry, being able to make a meal, growing fresh produce. Hold on. That's that's where you lost me. Exactly. That was like that's literally the whole point of this is when I walk downstairs, I got junk food. I ain't got nothing to sustain me.
SPEAKER_01You don't have nothing good. I mean, you had a freezer, so you can freeze stuff in the freezer.
SPEAKER_00That I do, but I'm gonna go ahead and assume they don't. I mean, like, you don't know how long you're gonna have power, you don't know how long you're gonna you know have anything. You don't know any of that.
SPEAKER_03I know crazy, right? So this is a movie talking about how they survived the this time period.
SPEAKER_00Well, they're trying to figure out what to do, but surviving is obviously the key thing because you don't know what's happening. Well, they know what's happening, they end up knowing more about what's happening, but you know that you your neighbors, everybody is trapped in their homes. So they're the last house that you can imagine where that story is going. Um and they're trying to survive, and and they do for quite a long time actually. I mean, years they survive and um make some tough decisions. The uh woman's able to grow a garden like in her home. That's crazy. Like, think about that with soil and roots and and they're able to grow that in there. I mean, it's just soil in the house if you can't go outside. Don't give away the movie. Okay, all right. But but would you be resourceful enough to be able to do something like that? Yeah, I'm eating you.
SPEAKER_02You're gonna eat me. We could live. Roro first.
SPEAKER_00You eat my kids!
SPEAKER_01You said you were gonna eat me. I mean you lived your life.
SPEAKER_00I have not have so much more life to live, I promise.
SPEAKER_01I can't wish.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so in LA for the last house, and I was going somewhere with this, but I'll I'll circle back. But in LA, they have a billboard for the last house, and they put a live person up in uh on the billboard living in and has a window there, and he's interacting with people on the street. It is hilarious. We got to do too much all the time, all the time, but it is hilarious. One, because you can imagine being trapped somewhere where no one can come and get you, so the last house, you know, makes sense. But he's actually really funny on the billboard. Yeah, he has a uh dry erase board so he can talk to people, you know, through you can't hear him, right? So these people come over to him and they say he must be hungry. Let me order him a pizza. So they order a pizza and they open the box for him to see it, and it's pepperoni pizza. He says, I'm vegan. Oh he's interacting with these people, which is hilarious, but yeah, people be doing the most that's so funny. Yeah, but circling back to the last house, why I bring that up is you know, it's it's hurricane season, and in Florida, what the Florida? It's Florida, you gotta be prepared. Yes, and we're lucky enough to have when a hurricane's coming, as long as it doesn't shift out of nowhere. You know, we have a couple days to prepare and get ourselves together. And watching The Last House, I was like, I'm not even prepared for hurricane season. It is right now, I gotta get it together. That is a problem and a half, yes. So, you know, all the toilet tissue is still in the stores today, but you know, it's the first thing that people go for in the hurricane.
SPEAKER_03I don't understand why you go up and buy all the toilet. I don't know why they think get the water off the shelf. They in there buying, like, you know, fresh food, I don't know, like milk. Yeah, like what what you doing? Like, I don't know. You you go for the liquor, yeah, go for the water and a couple candies, yeah, batteries and flashlights.
SPEAKER_00So I'm prepared now. Now I could not survive in the last house the way that this family did, but I can definitely survive a hurricane. And it was my reminder to go get myself together before hurricane season because I I was I can't I could never survive.
SPEAKER_03Ooh, child. Yeah, you can come to my house though, yeah. I think one of the great things about your neighborhood and my neighborhood, we both have underground power lines. Thank you, Lord. So we very rarely lose power during a hurricane. Um, but you always have to have your flashlights and things like that for back of candles and stuff. Yeah. And another thing is I have solar. So I'm thankful that in the event of a hurricane, do you lose power?
SPEAKER_00Come on to your house. Yes.
SPEAKER_03No, Tiffany, come on to my house. Just me. You wouldn't divide the audience. That's it.
SPEAKER_01That's it. Just you. Don't you hit me in the DM talking about I live in Tampa too? I live in Orlando too. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, I love that they teach us some tricks and stuff to you know, bathe yourself, to have fresh water, and you know, make sure that you can survive for a couple days. So yeah, sticking a showering, so around social media, there was a post that KJ Miller talked about where she was uh talking about a woman who asked, How often do you shower? And the woman said that she showers every three to four days. Is she abnormal or is that normal? Three to four days? Yeah. So KJ Miller ran to the comments like I would have done because of course that's absolutely crazy. And she said she was shocked that most of the women in there were saying every two days-ish, two to three days is when they shower. What? Every two to three days. What?
SPEAKER_03So yeah, so I got so many questions. Yeah. Like these people can't exercise. Because if you exercise every day, you tell me you go like three to four days without showering.
SPEAKER_00That's what this girl said, and most of the people said, you know, every other day, every two or so days, they're showering.
SPEAKER_03So I try to shower before I go to bed, before I get in the bed, and I shower the boys before they get into bed just to wash off the day. Uh, but there may be a day that I fall asleep on the couch and I throw myself in the bed because I ain't got nothing left. Right. A day. Two or three? Two or three. Like, you can't smell yourself after we're on a floor.
SPEAKER_00You can walk outside. I walked to the mailbox the other day, and you know, mailbox, let me just preface that I live in a community that doesn't have mailboxes right outside of your home. You actually ought to go a little bit down the street. So I'm like, let me get some exercise. You know, I'm at home now, got new traditions. I walked to the mailbox. I swear I almost died on my way home. It was at least it felt like 104 degrees. Right. It is hot. It is hot. Yes, you gotta take a shower every day. And and let me be clear, you ain't gotta stay in there for an hour. It takes 10 minutes to hit them hot spots, get yourself lotioned up. Yes, use lotion head to toe, and put on some new clothes. So I I don't I don't understand the three to four days thing. It's just laziness to me. But the fact that KJ Miller saw in the comments so many people who said two or more days, that that was wild to me.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, the only thing I can think of and only excuse I'll give out is for people suffering with depression. Okay, fair. They none of them said that. Okay. So if you can't even get yourself out of bed, I can understand how you go back. None of them were saying that. That wasn't what they were saying. They were talking about normal routines. Yeah. And also I think about like postpartum. Yeah. So when I had both of my children, the first couple of weeks, you only got one choice, and that's to sleep. It's either you eat or you sleep. Or you shower or you sleep. Or you clean up or you sleep. Or you entertain family and friends, or you sleep. I chose sleep every time. No, I get it. So I I get during that time in life. That's not what these women were talking about. We talk about normal every day. Your your booty cheeks ain't stuck together.
SPEAKER_00Can we talk about them armpits too?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And okay, let me let me also talk about this. I I'm not trying to be rude. I know the health of us are is important and we gotta do something different to not be on those commercials later on in life where we're talking about if you use X, Y, and Z deodorant. But aluminum is some people's friends. No, we cannot all go aluminum free. And I'm tired of walking past people and being like, mmm, no. No, aluminum-free does not work for most people. Stop it. Try another brand. But if you can smell your pits after an hour, that's not the right brand.
SPEAKER_03Well, this is where we go disagree because I am I do not think you should have to get cancer later on down the road because you want me to smell good.
SPEAKER_00No, I I agree. We gotta figure out the right aluminum free because because what's happening these days ain't working. I'm gonna keep using my Shea Moisture, uh uh melanin uh correction deodorant because uh you go be on the commercial no ten years from now.
SPEAKER_03If you use this deodorant, nah, call the bezothelioma foyer.
SPEAKER_00No, my my mom in love gave me some arm and hammer natural, and it's like one of those sticks, and it's like, okay, let me try this out. If I'm at the house, I can wear it, but it got to be applied two to three times a day, so either you're gonna carry it with you or you're gonna have to find something else. And I've tried too many deodorants, but in Florida, y'all need to be wearing aluminum. I'm just saying.
SPEAKER_03So, somebody in the comments tell Tiff uh where she can find the best aluminum-free deodorant, and uh that way she can stop giving herself cancer down the road because we're not supposed to be using that.
SPEAKER_00Not just me, some of y'all need to come with me on this journey. I I was out and about and I saw this fine guy. And yes, I'm married, but my my eyes still work. So I saw this fine guy, he gets closer and I give him a little smile because hey brother, I always love to see a good brother. His pit state. I couldn't even hold a conversation, and maybe that was the lore saying, Should you move it? Yep, but I felt bad for him because any woman should be looking at this man, and any woman walking up on this man is not.
SPEAKER_03I'm willing to take that risk. I'm willing, I'm willing to put some deterrence under his arm.
SPEAKER_00Exactly. Get you some aluminum. No, get you some aluminum.
SPEAKER_03Get you some aluminum.
SPEAKER_00No, absolutely. No, I have to give you a shout-out, though. I am so proud of you and how you're raising your boys. Six and ten-year-olds who have good hygiene routines. Let me tell you, you had gone to bed, you weren't feeling well, you had gone to bed. So I was like, Okay, I got the boys, you know. Auntie got this, and so I'm playing around with them, and I'm like, ooh, it's 11 o'clock. She would not want them up this late. So I'm playing around with them, and I said, Hey, it's about a couple minutes until 11. You got until 11 is time for bed. So I'm about to put them in the bed, and they're like, uh, we gotta brush our teeth. And I'm like, crap, okay? And then they're like, uh, we need to we need to wash our face. They're telling me exactly what their routine is, and they weren't stalling to try to save mom. They knew they were going to bed, they were doing what you have taught them around self-care at 6 and 10. Okay. Thank you. I mean, I love what you're doing. Those are the habits that we need to teach our kids early so they're not walking out with pajamas and do rags and bonnets on.
SPEAKER_03Please don't. I I truly uh they only wear pajamas out the house on pajama day at school, so that's the thing. Yeah, but I truly want to give them the best habits now. So down the road, they're making good decisions for themselves. Yeah. So they're just doing what they learned, it's their routine. So we have really great hygiene routines, uh, but also I'm not raising no stinky teenagers. Stinky fine man walking down the street. I can't. Yeah, I can't. I there is somebody that we know and love had to be washed in public. And got shamed in public because they won't hygiene incorrectly. Yeah, I'm sorry. So it's a I learned that lesson early to get him started early and get them good habits early. But not my boys. I'm not walking around with those stinky teenagers. And then my oldest is about to be a preteen. I know. And he's wearing deodorant.
SPEAKER_00He is aluminum free. Oh well. Whatever. And he don't stay doing. No, but he also ain't running track and doing basketball on a consistent basis. Wait until he gets even more active. Somebody send these some aluminum underneath those armpits. Well, speaking of before you know, they take showers and all that before they go to bed. Speaking of bed, can we talk a little bit about sleep rituals?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So again, around social media, Latrez Anderson had me cracking up talking about finding his tribe with people who have to sleep with a fan.
SPEAKER_01I don't know how they do it.
SPEAKER_00You know, I like the noise, and so I know some people use a fan for noise, but he said within his tribe, he has to have it because he be sweating. He'd be hot at night. And I know a ton of people who are in the new season of womanhood.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00To where we gotta have it nice and cool when we go to bed. Yeah, but what temperature is your house set on that you gotta have a fan on too? I don't know, but I I can tell you, most people in the comments said somewhere in the 60s. And a fan. And a fan. Nah, that's that's and not just a fan, uh extra fan and the ceiling fan gotta be on, Latr said. Well, that's why the allergies be messing up. You know what? You forgetting all that dust.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's all you're doing is circulating dust in your face. And also, like, you have to sleep with the door open. Air circulates in your house when the door is open. If you have your door closed, you have poor circulation, and now you in here with the fan on blowing skin and dust in your face. Oh god, you know, I lock them doors. I know you do. You gotta open the door and close the door.
SPEAKER_00No, I'm not close the door. It's like close the door. No, Sean's like, uh, the only time I have ever lived in my life is with you with these closed doors. Not only do I close, I lock the door. It's like I I need a warning that you're coming up on me. It has nothing to do with anything other than that you're a Taurus. That I am an April Taurus. No, I am an Aries. Oh, you're an April Taurus. Thank you. And I am uh control free.
SPEAKER_03But anyway, April Aries.
SPEAKER_00So I wanted to bring this up because you know I don't sleep. No, like the other day I went to bed at 5 40 in the morning. Absolutely ridiculous. And it wasn't because of anything other than I just don't sleep. So I just started taking some black girl vitamins, some dream girls. Uh so I'm excited to see how that helps me. But it had me thinking about sleep rituals, and so I know for you, you always have to have a sleep movie. Yes.
SPEAKER_03Shaw Shank Redemption.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_03Lately it's been The Matrix. Yep. Black Panther. Black Panther, yeah. Those are all really good movies that I've seen before and I'm not gonna get caught up watching. I said a sleep timer, and the goal is to beat the sleep timer.
SPEAKER_00Like it. Yep. Uh, I have a friend who stayed the night and she was like, You got nightlight? But bitch, what? No, I don't have no nightlight. What am I? Five? No, I don't have a nightlight.
SPEAKER_03I I don't even I'm gonna ask you who it is off camera.
SPEAKER_04Oh yeah, that was that was wild.
SPEAKER_00Obviously, fans. Yeah. So vitamins? Yes. So so what's really funny is Sean has 101 bottles of Zequel. I have never seen so many bottles of ZQL. It's almost like he's looking for it and he can't find it, so he goes buy a new one, then finds it the next day. And they're in multiple places around the house and they're in different sizes. So the small version, a large version. So he just like ZQL. So that cracks me up. But I was talking to Daddy. This one was hilarious to me. So mommy has cold pillows to keep you cool. The cool pillows. Yeah, so I think that's you know phenomenal because that stays cool all night. So you're sleeping on the cool, you got your fan on, and all that.
SPEAKER_03That's just too cold.
SPEAKER_00So I'm talking to Daddy, and he has me cracking up. He's because you know, Daddy is bald. Yes, he is, and so he said he rolled over and his head hit that cold pillow, and he was like, ooh, he liked it. And it woke him up and made him alert. It had me cracking up because mommy loves her cold pillows, and she could sleep, you know, fantastically with them. And it had me thinking. He said he got frostbite. Yeah, he said daddy said he got frostbite on his head and he rolled over.
SPEAKER_01That's just hilarious to me.
SPEAKER_00Sometimes I'll drop the air down and Sean be like, Were you cold? And I said, What you mean? He was like, You had the house on frigid. I mean, were you hot? Oh yeah, yeah, are you hot? I said, No, he'd be like, You had the house on frigid last night because he always goes to bed before me. So I set the temperature of what I want it to be before I go to bed. And we have separate covers, and so you know, we're not snatching covers, we're very comfortable. And uh he'll be like, Were you hot? Like, what happened last night? It was freezing up in here.
SPEAKER_03There's some days that I come, uh, if I sleep upstairs, then I'll change the temperature too, because I'll be hot. Um, but the downstairs is my rain. So when I sleep downstairs, you can set it to whatever I want to. Yeah. So I'd be freezing them out too.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But in my house, uh, don't touch, don't you touch that dirt step? And I got covers. So if you're cold, I gotta throw a cover in every circle of the house that can help you. That's funny. Yeah, but speaking of sleep, keeping up with around social media, did you see the video of the mom who came over to her child's father's house to confront the stepmom about allowing their children who are 9 and 11 to stay up as late as they want to in her house? Yes, not in her own house, at his house during the summer. So she confronted the stepmom for not letting the kids stay up however late that they want to during the summer. Bitch, are you nuts? Nuts. She came to her house to confront her.
SPEAKER_03Absolutely. Absolutely. Your kids go watch you go to jail. Okay. You're not coming to my house to confront me about bedtime at my house? I go to bed early. And so I'm not gonna leave you up if I'm in the bed early.
SPEAKER_00You go into bed. Well, she says she goes to bed at like 8 30, and I think it was like, you know, a little bit later, a couple hours later, that they had to be in the bed by. And she was like, What could they possibly be doing that's good that late at night? You want them to be subject to predators? Like, no, we have rules in my house. They're staying up late. It's not like I'm asking them to go to bed at 8:30. Like, they're staying up late, they go to bed after me, and she entertained this lady for way longer than I would have entertained her at the door, and the husband was out of town, so she's talking to the stepmother. So she didn't go to him. No, she went straight to the woman, yeah. Yep, yep. And he was out of town. Yeah, well, he was out of town, so she was dealing with, you know, dealing with her. So I'm assuming the kids were complaining and she decided that she was gonna confront her about it. So, my question for you as a someone who will be, you know, is co-parenting and has two homes and is managing that, like, where is the boundary on parenting rules and rituals that matter when it comes to raising kids in two separate houses? Like, what does that look like?
SPEAKER_03I have to relinquish control. When they are at his house, yeah, they live under his rules, and I don't have control over what happens in their house. I know what I would like to see happen, I know what I would like for him to continue as like strategy in raising our children, but I don't have control. If he wants them to stay up till four or five o'clock in the morning, do what you do. But when they get to my house, they're in the bed 8:39 at the latest. So I don't, and even if he lets them watch their devices all day long, all weekend long, yeah, fine. But in my house, there's no devices during the week. Right. My house, my rules. You don't get to come over my house and regulate the same way I don't get to go to your house and regulate. And you should not go come confront me or my new mate at my house because you don't like our rules.
SPEAKER_00So do you think the mom was wrong to say anything? And do you think that she should have only been dealing with her child's father, or does she have the right to have the conversation with the stepmother and their stepmother because they're married?
SPEAKER_03Well, you have the right to go to your former spouse or former mate and talk about the children. Right. Anything that is a concern to you, you get to bring up. It doesn't matter how big or how small, you get to address a concern about your children. However, you don't get to control the rules in someone else's house. Right.
SPEAKER_02If you want control that bad, take your children home with you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And that was a funny part of the video. She was like, Do you want to see the kids? Because she was walking off going home. She was like, Uh, do you want to actually see the kids? Like, you came over here to start some stuff. Do you actually want to see your children?
SPEAKER_03She she would have gone to jail.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I'm not gonna put no paws on you. I'm too old to be in here fighting. Yeah. But you you're not gonna come to my house and confront me. Talk to him, not gonna come and confront me, first of all. Yeah, second of all, you have no business being there about a bedtime in the summertime.
SPEAKER_02Pick a different topic.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, pick something else. Actually, don't. How about don't?
SPEAKER_03No, but you you can address concerns. Definitely address any concern that you have about your child to the parent. Yeah. Not the step parent, to the parent. Yeah. And if he said, I can't talk about it right now, wait till you get back. You cannot be that obsessed with that man in his house that you were there trying to regulate what happens over there. She was get a life.
SPEAKER_00Get a life. Can we keep it going? Uh similar situation, different scenario. So, did you see the video of the child's father running into his son and an getting ice cream with the new boyfriend? And he did not know the boyfriend, but he knew that his son was out with the man getting ice cream. And he wanted him to come with him immediately.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that I 100% agree with. You are not going to be in a strange place with a stranger to me. And I mean, this person could have kidnapped you. This person could have been grooming you. Anything. I don't know him. You do not get to stay with him. Ice cream is the gateway drug, and you're not gonna get my child. So no, absolutely not.
SPEAKER_00But would you he wanted him to come with him like immediately? Immediately. We going. So this is your ex's weekend. The first thing you're gonna do is take your child and keep it pushing. That's like that's how you would manage that.
SPEAKER_03If I run into my child and they are with a stranger, we are leaving together to verify who this person is. You are not gonna keep my child, and I don't know you. Now, this is the part of parenting that is super mature that most people need to have a conversation about, and they can't. My ex and I have agreed before the children meet anyone, they get to or we get to meet the other person first. Period. Even if you have a new girlfriend every two weeks, I'm going to meet her before she meets my children.
SPEAKER_00Fair.
SPEAKER_03So I know who she is. I have a face to a name. I need her name. I'm gonna run a background check on this hoe.
SPEAKER_02Oh Lord.
SPEAKER_03I need to know her name.
SPEAKER_00I got you on that one. I'm used to running background checks.
SPEAKER_03Thank you. But I also need to know who she is. I I don't need to know if she's the perfect mate for you. I need to know if she's a match for my children and what her values are. And not that I have a say in who you date, but I have a say in who my children are around.
SPEAKER_00Kinda. I'm sorry. You have a say in who your children are around when you're around. When you're not around, you have no say.
SPEAKER_03I hear you, but you're not gonna be out with my child unsupervised, and I don't know you. That is dangerous.
SPEAKER_00No, I I agree. And so in this situation, he was like, Let's call her, and he was naming her clearly. And the father was like, I don't need to call anybody, I'm taking my son immediately. And he's like, You're not taking him, we need to call her. Like, and and I appreciated that because if you tell me that you let a man that you haven't met take my son because he said he was the father, I'm gonna walk off on you. Listen, it's a hard situation both angles because you I don't know you, so I'm not letting you walk off with my girlfriend's son because you said that you're the daddy. You know who I am. You don't know what they know. How would how would you know who I am? No, the answer would be no. Let's sit right here together and call the baby mama and have the conversation.
SPEAKER_03Listen, I'm taking my child until I can verify who you are. That's that's how you want to. I'm about to put these paws on you. If you want to call April, you go call April, yeah. But I'm taking my child right now. I don't blame that man, not one bit. You sir, are a stranger to me. My child may know you, I don't know you. And until you can verify who you are, no.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he didn't want any verification, he wanted to just take his child, and the the boyfriend was like, Well, I I'm not gonna give you this child until I can verify with what let's call the police then. Yeah, well, he was he didn't let's call the police, he was like, I'm just gonna fight you and keep it pushing. So I think I think the bottom line is just a reminder that you can't trust everyone. I don't trust anybody, and you shouldn't, but also that you should have some sort of agreement like what you have to at least introduce, even if it's only by name, doesn't have to be, you know, come have dinner with me.
SPEAKER_03It's not even come have dinner, it gotta be meet up in this parking lot real quick.
SPEAKER_00It doesn't even have to be that. I need to see her face and I need to know who has my child. Yeah, I mean, I I I think in the best case scenarios, asking to do that is nice. In bad scenarios, they're not gonna do that. So you gotta at least know, hey, I'm dating Sean, and you know, he's someone new in my life. Like, you just gotta have something for your kids to know about when you live in the same city, or be mature enough to have the conversations like you are and and have a plan for how you want them to be around your kids. And I think y'all have to be very careful because you come in there hot, like this mother did to the stepmom, but we forget that they're the ones who are with your children, they're the ones who are likely bathing, feeding, entertaining, helping with homework, yeah, and doing the things that you would want a good person to do with your child.
SPEAKER_03Of course.
SPEAKER_00And so if you know that, you gotta be a little careful around how you're treating the people who are around your kids when you're not there.
SPEAKER_03I agree. And I also said the same thing that this woman, it's her house. You don't get to regulate what she does in her house as far as bedtime. Pick a different topic to be angry about. Yeah, that ain't that ain't it. If she's not abusing her children, close the door.
SPEAKER_01Close the door. Close the door.
SPEAKER_03But I'm sorry, the other scenario, you you shh, child, yeah. You give me my child until I know who you is. Yeah, he won't he won't play in a lot. I don't play about my children like that at all. Yeah. Make sense. Nope. Nope, nope, nope. Woo, child. After all that, give me a drink.
SPEAKER_00All right, well, what do you got? Is we are at that time. So I have today a Cooper's Hawk watermelon paloma. Beautiful. I it's been like perfuming at me this whole time. So it's been hard enough to drink it. Great summer drink, too, uh, totally refreshing. It's already made, which is really nice. And it's from Cooper's Hawk and of course Cooper's Hawk Winery. Wine club member over here. Can't recommend it enough.
SPEAKER_04Yes.
SPEAKER_00Um, so you ready to try it? I am. I did try to make it a little fancy and put a little tahino. It's a little pretty good. I put it on halfway because I don't I don't really like it, but I like the look of it. So you just go try it. I am. Cheers. Mmm. I like it.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that is good.
SPEAKER_00I don't even like watermelon drinks, and this is good. I know. So while you got it in your hand, I do have a sister salute. She's gonna lose it a bottle. Uh no. Uh I do have a sister salute. So my sister salute, uh-uh, put that cup down. My sister salute is to Sterling K. Brown. Oh, I love him. I know. So I know we try to find women when we can, bring up women, celebrate women. But I have to honor Sterling K. Brown, who is celebrating women. So he talked about how much he loves black women, seeing black women win, and he noted that in Hollywood, black women are often limited to sensible side characters in movies and not really getting the honors that we deserve, and especially dark-skinned women. So he has talked about intentionally working on projects that diversify the landscape of black stories and not boxing in black women to the typical roles and being very intentional about it. Okay, of course, if you know him, he has his beautiful wife, Ryan Michelle, his two uh little boys, I think it's two, two little uh cute boys, and just love seeing him. And I believe in when he says that he's looking to amplify that. So Mr. Sterling K. Brown, we salute you as our sister salute. Thank you for all that you're doing to entertain us just in general. But the fact that you talked about wanting to uplift, create opportunities, and help to support black women. We support you with our sister salute.
SPEAKER_03Salute to you, watermelon Paloma. I love him in paradise. Oh my god, that show was good.
SPEAKER_00And this last season he was relentless. He said, I'm gonna get my woman. Hello. He left them kids and everything.
SPEAKER_03He left that kid, he won't playing around going to get his woman. Yeah, um, there was a like a couple episodes in there. I was like, man, I'm not gonna watch this no more. By the end of the season, I was just like, Bring on the next season!
SPEAKER_00Well, that was because it wasn't about him at first. Yeah, when it became back about him, it was like, okay, all right, we're back to paradise. Yeah, it was very good. I can't wait for the next season. This drink is good. Any good? All right, sister. Can we just keep drinking? I mean, we can, but let's turn this camera off.
SPEAKER_04Oh, okay, gotcha.
SPEAKER_00All right, well, to all of our sisters, to the sister who dared, to the sister who cared, to the sister who said yes to herself, we see you, we celebrate you, and we salute you. Cheers.
