So, what we're gonna talk about today is 2025 Topps Chrome Platinum Baseball. If you're unfamiliar with this because you're new to the hobby, or maybe you're not that new, but it has been a couple years and maybe you forgot about what it's like. It is a Chrome version of like an anniversary set. This is based on the 1955 top set. This will release this Friday, June 5th. The pre-order was at $139.99. The release is going to be bumped up to $149.99, pretty much in line with what we were expecting. And one thing to note before we get into this, because some people, this will just be a non-starter for them. These are horizontal cards in the set that is based off of that design. There are a few vertical cards in the set as well, but the base cards and the autos are all gonna be horizontal if those are not part of your PC, just not kinds of cards that you like. I get it. How how are breakers gonna break it? I mean, is it just gonna be like a flip through that way? I don't know. I I would expect, yeah, the sideways hold. Let's see. That'll be different. I can't I can't think of a set like that where I've hold it, I've held the packs the entire break horizontally. Yeah, that's a little that's a little uncomfortable. Yeah, you do a little like yeah, I I'd imagine, yeah. You 55 55 tops, man. Classic. You can't mess with it. You know, you can't try to take that and make it vertical. And you want to show off those cards too, because this design is awesome. That's the first thing I'm noticing right off the bat. This design is and chrome, it's gonna look so clean. These parallels, these variations. I just I'm such a fan of tops, chrome, platinum. The first year was pretty good, second year took it to the next level, and now I believe this is the third release of it, and I expect them to just build on that. Or one thing, this is the fourth year. They did 21, 22, 23, skipped 24, now they're 25. Okay, yeah, and these are just such sick cards. What they added last time was they had the short printed city variation packs, and they are bringing those back. So if you see one of those city variation cards, that pack is going to have all of those cards. And yeah, they I think the horizontal really lends itself to this variation too. Definitely because yeah, you can get like the whole cityscape in the background. I'm looking at the Otani auto that's in here, and yeah, with the city back there, it doesn't look too busy or anything. It's a sick card. There's some big names in the auto checklist, but of course it's 170-something names long. Yes. So Otani, you get an AJ Pierzinski. Let's start with the base checklist. As usual, this is a monster, monster of a checklist. It is 500 cards. Cush, you're getting, you know, just your vets, your rookies, of course, and you're getting your legends in there. And semi-legends, you know, those borderline hall of famers, but you're getting a mix of everyone in this in this set. I can imagine them in the future splitting this up into like a series one and series two. I wouldn't complain to be able to like get that checklist down, but I get why they don't. Another thing to note and to remember, we did say it's 2025 this set, not 2026. So you're going to find last year's rookies in this. You're not going to find any Murakami in this if that's who you're expecting to chase. You are looking for Nick Hurts this time. So just one good Ben Rice now. Ben Rice is a is a is a big name now. Ben Rice carrying my fantasy team. Yankees are going to be super expensive in breaks because you have those legends that can be found. So another thing, you know, if you do want to chase Ben Rice, yeah, you're going to be paying a premium for the for him for sure. What are the big rookies do we have from last year? Uh, we have Nick Hurts, of course. We have Jacob Wilson. You know, it feels like it was just yesterday and all of a sudden I'm drawing blanks. J Dylan Cruz, James Wood, of course. Who am I missing here, Bert? Who are you missing? Cam Smith, although he's kind of cooled off a little bit. Chase Dollar. Cam Smith had like a monster home run this last week, right? Did he? Yeah, I I I try not to pay attention when the Astros are doing well. You said Jacob Wilson, uh, Luis Angelicuna, not really a thing much anymore in the south side of Chicago. Marcelo Meyer, Michael McGreevy. I think Marcelo Meyer is gonna be a uh a redemption again, like he always is. He's always a redemption, yeah. Yeah, yeah. James Wood, Ben Rice, Nick Hurts. That that's kind of like the big throw. Yeah. Yeah. Ben Rice definitely forced himself into that conversation. So 500 cards, and not just that, but you have a ton of parallels all the way from refractors and X Fractors, Prism, which is just in retail, and then you have the top refractor out of $4.99, all the way down to your superfractors. You have your different colors that have the different things, like red, red vibration. I'm seeing red lava. And then you have the toil variations where it's got those little images of like the little old-timey baseball guys on there. So the toil variations, some people like them. I'm not a fan, of course, true color all the way, but I'd rather have like a lava or something over. I don't like the patterns for the most part in my parallels. I like them the cleaner the better. Yeah, I completely agree. 30 numbered parallels in the checklist and the base checklist, too. So this is always a fun one. If you want to chase a rainbow and you're not going after a big name rookie, it's a it's a fairly attainable rainbow chase. I remember going after Mike Cameron, uh, one of the first couple years that did Platinum Anniversary, because they had Mike Cameron as a mariner and I grew up rooting for Cami, and I was able to pick up a lot of those numbered refractors for less less than like 10 bucks. So it this is a little bit of a throwback in a way. I feel like it is a kind of a set collector's checklist in a way, and I love it. Yeah, that was gonna be my point too. Yeah, this is definitely for set collectors. If if I was a set collector, this is what I would be going for because it represents all aspects of a team, you know, the current, the old, the very old. Um, and yeah, this was the only set I ever considered trying to run a rainbow on because this when it came out, I was very sold on this. And one of my favorite players of all time had a card in this, but he was not as a Met, he was as a Rocky. Daniel Murphy. Sure. Yeah, he was in that very first set. Every time I saw Daniel Murphy came out, I got so excited. But if he was a Met, I would have definitely gone for that rainbow. Try to figure that out somehow. He is a Met legend to me, and I loved him ever since he was a rookie. He was just so much fun to watch. Yeah, you got everybody in this, in these 500 names, you got rookies, you got you got vets, you got legends, you got Hall of Fame legends, and you have Hall of Very Good Legends. You even have some Hall of Just OK legends in there. When you get up to 500 names in a checklist, you start to really scratch the bottom of the barrel. But a fun part about this is that they've curated the checklists in a way to where those bottom-of-the-barrel guys that you don't generally see in tops checklists are oftentimes fan favorites. And so, you know, I talked about Mike Cameron being a guy that was in it in a previous year, but this year's set, if you go to your, if you go to the Beckett checklist, you check for your team, you might find a guy that you wouldn't normally see in a tops checklist in 2025. And those can be really fun chases. Absolutely. Yeah, this this is just a fun set. It's just so much fun to rip to. The thing is, if it's anything like past years, there's gonna be plenty of color, even in retail. So if you see retail available and you're kind of on the fence because you're like, maybe I'm probably not gonna get much out of it, not gonna get anything really colored. Retail was loaded with color. Maybe not like all like numbered or anything, but yeah, it should be. I'd expect to be loaded again because it's showing retail exclusives has prism refractors, blue prism, gold prism, red prism, and it doesn't necessarily even state a number out of those. I'd expect the the blue, golden, red actually to be numbered. Yeah. Platinum Anniversary is great. Like if you if you're the type of person that loves heritage, or if you're the type of person that loves Stadium Club, but you wish that both of those products had a had a few more hits, you know, a few more numbered cards per box, uh, Platinum Anniversary is a perfect, perfect fit for you. Yeah. From a resale perspective, you're not gonna be, you know, the ceiling on Platinum Platinum Anniversary is, I would say, fairly low, but it's also it's also a really fun rip. And you're you're you're destined to get a few numbered cards per box. We don't have to pack odds yet, so we don't know exactly how many compared to previous years, but you're gonna get a few numbered cards per box. You don't get that in heritage, you don't get that necessarily in Stadium Club, and you never know who's gonna be chasing a rainbow for a guy. So I don't know. I feel like it's a fun rip, a fun personal rip for the price point. Yeah. And you said you don't get a few numbered cards out of Stadium Club or Heritage. I think on average, you don't even get a numbered card out of Stadium Club and Heritage right now because yeah, they they are just so rare. Let's get into the different the other parts of this. So first up, we have the inserts. The first answer they have is, and the inserts honestly aren't really main chase in this, I don't think. So we won't spend too much time. But the 1955 World Series, of course, we said this is based off the 1955 set. This is just 10 cards, has about has six different parallels, and has players from the Dodgers and the Yankees from that 55 World Series. Highlights being Mickey Mantle, Whitey Ford, Yogi Berra, Sandy Koufax, Bill Hodges, and Jackie Robinson. But yeah, any of these 10 players are are pretty solid hits. Yeah, it looks like per hobby box you're gonna get four inserts, um, which is cool. I think uh it'll be interesting to pay attention to Slap Squatch and the pack odds analysis when it comes out, right? Because I think some of these inserts may be more short print than others. I would imagine the 55 World Series and the Topps Rails and Sales, because they have the full parallel rainbow, green, gold, orange, black, red, super, those base uh inserts are gonna be fairly common. Same with the tops doubleheaders, uh, but curious on the 55 cards that never were. They only have Super Fractor as a parallel, which could mean that the base are a little bit more short print. I don't know if they've announced how rare those will be, but there's certainly some fun chases in there. Yeah, so cards that never were are pretty much the top players who it's saying did appear in the original 1955 set. I think that's typo. I think it's supposed to say that didn't appear. So yeah, 20 cards. You got Mickey Mantle, Pee-Wee Reese, Brooks Robinson. Uh, those are the names that stand out. Casey Stangle. But yeah, just the super fragile for that. You have the rails and sales, which I don't really know what those look like. I haven't really seen any pictures of that. Have you seen any? Yeah, again, those aren't really a main selling point anyway, the inserts, unless they come out looking really awesome. But this does have some current guys as well as some older guys. You got Soto, Puhols, Lindor, Otani, Harper, and then the older guys, you got Nolan Ryan, Randy Johnson, Ken Griffey Jr., Ricky Henderson. So nice mix. And this is so 20 cards, six different parallels from green, refractor down to superfractors. Green out of 90 out of 99. And then the doubleheaders, kind of what they sound like. It's gonna have two guys on the card. This is again 20 cards from green, refractor, down to superfractor. And some of these are awesome. Sandy Colfax and Otani, Mantle, and Judge. That's gonna be a chase and a half. You got the classic Griffey and Ichiro. As a mess fan, Piazza Lindor, it doesn't really move the needle much. Wet Jr., George Brett, we've seen Akuna Hank Aaron is cool. Roger Maris, Mickey Mantle is a cool one too. Nolan Ryan, Mike Trout. Yeah, Nick Kurtz, Jacob Wilson. Nice little rookie pairing. Yeah. Sometimes you got to pair the big rookies together. That makes sense. Kind of the same with Roky and Yamamoto. Yamamoto not a rookie, but Rokie is a rookie in this set. Yeah. And then you'll find the 1955 Topps employees, super short prints, 10 cards of Topps employees. The only people that really care about these are those 10 people and their family. So yeah, we we can move past that. And they do have a team associated with each of them for breaks, which is nice to know. So you don't have to worry about a randomizer. Okay. Next up, let's get into the autographs. So the autographs, there are just two different kinds of autographs. There's a chrome platinum autographs, and there are the city variation autographs. That's it. Nothing too complicated. Let's start with the platinum autographs. As Bert mentioned, 178 cards. You have it looks like 12 different parallels from refractor out of 199 to super refractors out of one. You will get one auto per hobby box. They can be found in retail. And yeah, ton of guys here. Some really, really nice names, though. Again, they are going to be super short printed. These the nicer names. Yeah, just looking over really quick. Yamamoto, you got Judge. We do have James. We do have Judge. But no Otani on this list. Ken Griffey Jr. No, Otani just has the city variation. Ken Griffey Jr., James Wood, Jacob Wilson, Juan Soto, Johnny Bench, Julio Rodriguez, Vat Ichiro, Frank Thomas, Lindor, Jeter, Doc Gooden. I don't know why I threw Doc Gooden in there, but Ben Rice does have autos in this. We talk about this in a lot of different episodes, and it's a common thread. But in this, in this especially, right, if you're looking at buying into a PYP spot or, you know, just in general, level level setting your expectations on a box or a case rip, a lot of these big names are not going to have nearly the number of autos that some of these smaller names will have. You know, Shohei Otani is not going to have the same number of autos in this product as that's not a good example. Let's use like Ken Griffey Jr. Ken Griffey Jr., who's in the base auto checklist, he's not going to have all of the parallels. He's not going to have nearly as many autos as somebody like Valente Biozo, right? Like Valente Biozo probably signed every parallel and probably signed a lot of the base, but some of these guys will only have a handful of autographs in the entire print run. And frustrating, frustrating, right? Because you don't know as a collector, even when they post the pack odds, you won't know how short print a guy is until they start actually ripping the product and we see a substantial amount popping up on eBay. Yeah. So let's say you join a five caser. It's uh 12 boxes a case. So that ends up being 60 boxes. You're seeing 178 different autos. So you're thinking 60 out of 178, I have a one in three chance of getting my guy. Yeah, your odds are better if your guy is like a no-name guy that nobody cares about. But if you're looking for that Griffey auto, it's it's more like instead of one in three, it's probably more like one in 20. So just something to take into account. This is a dangerous one, I think, for PYP. And I just hope that folks do their diligence before they buy into spots on PYP breaks and stuff about just how this product is configured, right? Because you may see 10 case break and want to buy the Aaron Judge spot, but your odds of hitting an Aaron Judge auto, even in 10 cases, are minuscule. And even your odds of hitting an Aaron Judge parallel out of the base checklist are pretty small too. Even though there's as many parallels as there are, if you do the math, you're getting four cards per pack. You're getting 20 packs per box. That's 80 cards per box, times 12 boxes a case. That's gonna be 960 cards per case. There's 500 cards in the checklist. So you're probably only gonna get two cards per app per, and that's over-exaggerating, on any particular player in the checklist. How many of those are gonna be parallels? Very few. So even if you extrapolate that out to 10 cases, like keep your expectations low on PYP breaks. It is a massive, massive skunk potential. Keep those things in mind before you buy into spots. Absolutely. I agree with 100%. I would say for this, don't chase the auto. Anything you're chasing those parallels. Because if you do hit a parallel, it's still a beautiful, awesome card that you're looking at. If as long as it they didn't like mess up the quality or anything like that, but yeah, I'd I'd expect to be very happy with any of these parallels to hit. And there are a ton, so we will see that. But yeah, don't I I would not recommend going into this trying to chase any autos because it's just the other thing too to keep in mind as well is uh is cost, right? Because platinum anniversary is a pretty hot product, surprisingly. You know, there it does well on secondary, it has the past few years. If you go back and you look at 2022, 2023 Platinum Anniversary sealed cases, they're pretty expensive, definitely more expensive than you can get current cases of 2025 on pre-sale for. And you you mentioned the pre-sale cost was what, $139.99? And yep. And we're at $149.99 for this price. So what's that? At $150, $1,800 a case, right? On tops.com day of uh release sale. But the the cases are going for about $3,000 a case right now on pre-order for anybody that's that pre-ordered them and is selling them on eBay. So be aware because breakers, even if they're getting at direct pricing, which is significantly lower than that $1,800 clip, they're probably still gonna be replacing pricing their breaks at replenishment price, which is gonna be that $3,000 or that market price. I don't think those honestly, if I were to guess at like what dealer net's gonna be at during release week, like on release day, I think they'll probably be like $2,500,000, $2,600 a case. But still, even at that, breaks will be pretty pricey. Yeah, the only good thing about such a big checklist, if you do do a player break, you're getting one of $500 players or or more for the guys that aren't on included in the base checklist. So it's probably upwards of 500. So though those smaller spots are gonna be like nothing if there is like those smaller like legend players or anything like that from your team, like it's a niche, niche guy. Like I mentioned, Daniel Murphy. If he was in this, I'd be all over it because I know for super cheap. So if you have a player, if you have a Daniel Murphy, um, but there is only one. I was just looking at the Mets checklist, and in terms of the legends, it's kind of your normal Mets legends that you usually see. Straw, Tom Sieaver, uh is Doc Gooden in there, Piazza. They don't have a ton of legends. Yeah. Same with the Mariners. It's it's kind of your normal this year at least, it's it's kind of your normal cast of characters. Griffe, Ichiro, A-rod, Felix is in there. Mitch Haniger is the one that's probably the most random out of out of that. And yeah. I'd put Mariner's legends up against anybody else's legends, though. Totally. As much as I love my Mets. Yeah. There's some good ones, yeah. All right. So next up for the autos, we have the top city variations autographs. And this is where you can find your Otani. This is 92 cards, and all cards are out of five except for the super fracture. These are gonna be stupid rare, but if you hit them, I'm gonna post. So if you're on YouTube right now, you can see I'm posting what some of these look like. The Griffy, that would be a grail for any Mariners fan. Yeah. With the space, you've got so you've got the Griffy face just looking at you, and then you got his batting stance on the side. That's how all the cards are. You've got the face and then an action position, and then you have the space needle right in the middle, along with the rest of the city backdropped. And then you know his auto is just one of the top five best autos. That is a card that if you hit it, oh man, I I wish I could make you an offer on it, but I'm sure that you would have to make it. That's another nice thing about Plantum Anniversary we haven't touched on that. All the autos are on card. Yes. Not gonna be any sticker autos. There's no insert autos that you're gonna take up your one auto and you're gonna be disappointed. All all of them are gonna be on card, which is always a good thing. And I think those city variation autos are gonna be extremely rare. We'll see how rare they are when they post the pack odds, but just seeing that uh they're all gonna be numbered out of five or less, and that there's just the superfractor as a parallel, those are gonna be those are gonna be tough hits. You know, you put it on literally six of each, so breaking might not hit. Yeah. 92 cards, so what you have like 552 or something, I think. Also interesting cards too if they include those in in blasters. I assume that they may, because it's not called out, at least where I'm looking on Beckett, that it's that it's hobby exclusive, but we'll see. Um that could even thin out your odds even more if you're joining Hobby Case Breaks. I'd assume. Yeah, but the names on this, that there's very few band names on this, and a 92 card checklist that it's tricky to do. You got Judge, Poohs, A-rod, Barry Bonds, Bo Jackson. You got Ben Rice, Bobby Witt, Kershaw, Chipper Jones, Derek Jeter, Big Poppy, David Wright, Lindore, Frank Thomas. I I'm just like misses. Not a lot of misses for sure. No, Johnny Damon, it's kind of weak. Louise, Luis Robert, it's getting weaker by the day. Uh that's on there. But I on that David Wright card, I might actually be a buyer to try to go out and try to find that card. Sign and he doesn't sign a whole lot. That's interesting. That's the most garbage name on this list. Yeah, okay, Mets fan. Yes. Oh no. I'm gonna bleep that name out. You know what? Let's let's bleep that name out. Whoever whoever can tweet. Us what name that we mentioned just there, I will send a free blaster a platinum anniversary. All right. All right. The first person to send it. Let's I love that. And let's also play our game. There's 92 subjects in the 55 Top City variation auto subset. Which one does not fit in? Are you ready, Juice? Take a second. Take a second. Can I already read the name? You are I I mean you could go with the one that you already read if you want to. No, I'll go with I know someone that you don't like. I one of the ones that I would have probably said was like Luis Robert. Like made something what he's done lately. But I got I got one that uh actually no, I don't want to lump him in. Hold on. And if my brother's listening, that name does not count for you. You can get your own Fatim Anniversary set. Shout out Jay. Let's go. All right. Honestly, the one that sticks out to me, the one that I haven't said yet, we can go ahead, but I don't think this is gonna be the one that you're thinking. All right, on the count of three. One, two, three. I saw Jorge Posada. The thing is, I live in New York where he's such a legend for people here, so I am okay with him being in here. I'm a Yankee hater, so yeah, that's fair. I don't hate Jorge. I don't hate pretty much any of those uh classic Yankee guys. Let's do let's do the Roger Clemens. Okay, sure. Sure. Yeah, Roger revs a lot of people the wrong way. Should we do the opposite side of the spectrum and do if you were to hit any of these, let's call it like a random team break or a personal rip. If you were to hit any of these city variation autos, which one would you want it to be? Not including Shohei. I was gonna say, should we not include Shohei? Not Shohei. Just from a PC standpoint, maybe. Um let's caveat that it's not just about the value of the card. Let's say, well, let's let's I already I already gave mine. So let's hear your because I already said Griffey, and that that I have to double down with because just I can actually see that card. And unless it's like PC and David Wright, like I would still take it over that, but that that's one of the few cards that I could get like almost as excited for. Okay. So what's yours? James Wood. Yeah. Mm-hmm. It's gonna look is he on? Is he on here? They're gonna have some. Is he not on there? I hope that he's on there, or else you're gonna have to swipe that from the episode. I just assume that he was. He is. He's not the thing is he's under JW. Uh-huh. And some of the other guys, um, I was looking directly off medical like J A instead of JW. So that's what I was doing. I was thinking about it with the with the city. It's gonna have some some Washington, D.C. stuff. Who knows what it's gonna have in there? But that could be pretty cool. I don't know. You think they're gonna put the uh the steel cage they put out in front of the White House? You think they're gonna put that on the car? Yeah, I don't think so. No. I'm thinking Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, who knows? I don't know. Yeah. But I I love me some James Wood. I tweeted about it the other day, and I just think he's so criminally undervalued still. Like you look at his career numbers, and he's only 24. Like, if he continues on this pace, he's gonna be a 500 home run guy without a doubt. And he's just starting to tap the tap his potential. Yeah, I think he could be a top five hobby name in the next couple of years. Uh I think though, as like a counter to that when I like when I'm playing Devil's Advocate, is how are Giancarlo Stanton's card prices? Yeah. What have you done for me lately? That that's what it comes down to. Yeah, I mean, it just to me like James Wood could end up having a very similar career to what Giancarlo Stanton has had. And if he did have that career, if the market stands as it would today, his card prices would be lower in the future when he's Giancarlo Stanton than they are now as a second as a second year guy, third year. I think that if Stanton started his year his career as a Yankee, his car prices would probably be double what they are, at least. That's also very true. Yeah. The Miami thing did not help, but also with James Wood, the Nationals thing didn't help. And it hasn't helped John Carlo that much that he went to the Yankees. Maybe part of that is just how he's performed. I mean, he hasn't been he hasn't had one of his legendary Marlin seasons in New York yet. But he's been clutch in the postseason. Yeah, yeah. Wow. Yeah. But yeah, there are tons of people here. James Wood's gonna end up in New York, though, or LA. Yeah. It just felt if he keeps it up. Yeah. Well, we'll see with the salary gap and everything. Who knows? Everything is on the table right now. Yeah, good point. Yeah, James Wood is a good one. That that could be the most or one of the least valuable cards in on this checklist, just depending on how it goes. Bo Jackson, I love Bo Jackson cards. That would be cool. I'm sure the judge card is gonna look sick with the uh city skyline back there. I'm pretty sure the Mets are gonna have more of like a queen skyline kind of thing in the back. Well, not like really like a skyline, but you'll see like the world's fair stuff. That's what I'm assuming, which is cool, but the city just looks cooler. So that's what we're looking at for the autos, and that pretty much brings that part of it to a close. So next up, let's do our different thoughts. Uh, let's start with are you going to flip it, rip it, or break it? I will definitely be breaking it, but as a breaker and I break everything, I think if I were to take that hat off and and answer it just from like a collector perspective, I think this is definitely a rip it. This is definitely a rip it. You never know who you're gonna get in a 500 card checklist. Uh that's what makes it fun and kind of just ripping a personal and seeing what comes out. It's like an Easter egg hunt. And I think from a breaking perspective, we kind of touched on it a little bit earlier, but PYP and even PYT is pretty tough, very high skunk potential uh with the length of the checklist. So I I'm firmly in the rip it. I don't think that there's much of a ceiling from an investment standpoint, unless you're gonna wait it out for a while. Uh, you know, if you're looking at a short-term flip, I don't think there's gonna be all that much room on it. I'd probably sell it release week. Um, but if you if you'd rather rip it for fun at 150 than flip it for 250, probably around what you could you could flip it for on release day, then rip it. I am in the same boat as you. I am 100% a rip it if I have to do one of these three things, rip it all the way. This is like you said, it's 20 packs, four cards a pack, four cards per pack. There should be so much color in here, and it's just it's all chrome, so it's not like a bunch of paper that you're just quickly pushing off to the side and saying, I'll sort you in a little bit. It is all just awesome, awesome looking cards, and you're still gonna hit that one auto per box. And honestly, at the prices that we've seen for other stuff, it's very fair price for a chrome on card auto to be able to hit that per box with a number of parallels that we're expecting. So I think that rip it all the way. It's not one of those quick rips where it's like six cards in a single pack either. You're gonna be able to take your time with this, really savor the rip. So a hundred percent. Or on this product, especially at 150 a box, is really, really high, especially if you're a budget-minded collector that plans to sell most of the cards that they don't want that they pull. Um, because you have a 500 card checklist, the base cards kind of become naturally a little bit more valuable. You know, they're they're gonna be tougher pulls to even pull just a base card. I think you'll be able to sell a lot of these base commons for a dollar or two on, you know, if you sell them at the right time. How much do you think a base hotani goes for? On release day? Or like by day four? Because those are I would say release day. I wouldn't be surprised if they're going for like 35 a card and by day four, like 20. Yeah. Yeah, definitely. Yeah. Yeah. I think they even settle above 10, you know, but I think release day, 35, 40, is about right. And they'll probably settle right around eight, nine, ten bucks, even like a couple weeks after release. Yeah. Well, the the it'll be so interesting to see the pack odds. You know, I've heard Planum Anniversary in the past has been fairly short printed compared to an average top scrum product. We'll see what they did with it this year after a year hiatus. Do they decide to bump it up, or did is this going to be that product where they finally did the collectors a solid and and kept the print run low? I'm not sure. We'll see. All right. All right, then let's get into our different grades. So for visual, I'm kind of back and forth on this. I'm going to give it an eight out of 10. The reason why it's not higher, although it doesn't bother me too much, is that it is horizontal, which I don't love from like a slabing perspective and just for displaying or PC perspective overall. But the cards themselves are still so awesome. And you're not bogged down by a million different parallels and things. It's all about those base cards and how they look with the parallels, and these always look awesome. And then the city variations, which are the main chase variations, just look awesome as well. Odd card autos. So I'm giving this a solid eight out of ten. Yeah, I'm with you. I'm gonna give it a seven. And and a lot of the a lot of me dinging it down from 10 is just because I cannot stand horizontal versus vertical, kind of like you said. But but I'd struggle to think of a set that I would give higher than a seven as horizontal cards. So that's a very positive look on the design. I think it's great. I think uh 2023 was the first time that they did the the variation packs that are separate from the box or from the regular packs itself, and that that resonated really well with collectors. I think it's gonna do good again this year. I think those are great that they continue to include those in. I wonder if they'll have a visual indicator on the packs that are like the city packs. So people can like resell them. Yeah, yeah. They'll be different. It'll be like a snack pack. Okay. I couldn't remember if they did that. I thought they didn't, but I thought you didn't know until you opened the pack. They did they did do that in 2023, assuming they're gonna do it the same way in 25. That's it'll be a separate pack, yeah. Okay. All right. Then we're gonna get into law into long-term, short-term value. We just combine this into value because long-term is so difficult to predict. So value I'm giving this is seven out of ten. Uh, I think that you're gonna get real good bang for your buck. The huge checklist takes away from the value a bit because it is really hard to be able to hit a decent holograph, but the number of parallels you should be getting per box is what puts it back up. And it's hard to find an all-chrome product for this price point. Um, you're getting a decent number of cards, really nice looking cards. I think that at retail, you're it's it's a very solid overall buy. Seven out of ten. Yeah, I'm gonna go eight out of ten. Even at $150 a box on tops.com on release day, I think that's a really good price. And like you said, you're you're gonna struggle to find anything that's a new release, all chrome, for that kind of price point. It's got a guaranteed auto. The guaranteed auto is on card. There's some massive chases in there. It's not like you're not chasing anything. The ceiling is quite high, but the floor is high too. I was a little bit surprised to see the price as low as it was. I kind of would have expected these boxes to come out the gate given the resale price for 2022 and 2023. I I thought that they would have sold them for about 175 to 200 bucks. So I think 150 is actually a kind of a homie hookup. I think that's a good deal, and I think secondary is going to be higher than that. Breaking is up next. I'm gonna give this a five out of 10 because it is so difficult to be able to get those hits. The good thing is there are plenty of hits. All cards should ship. Again, you're not getting into that paper base to the side or anything. There should be a lot of parallels, but overall it's it's such a tough hit for this product. I'm seeing some of the early break prices and they're they're okay. Uh but it's just I think there's better things to get into brakes for. Um, it could definitely be fun. I I wouldn't blame you for getting into one, but I'm not scrambling to try to you know make sure I can get into this while the price is right. I I'm just taking it day by day and seeing how how things are looking. And it definitely could be fun to watch, but I I'm not expecting anything crazy noteworthy unless you're super lucky. Yeah. Breaking depends on the format. I think PYP, I'd give like a four. I think PYP is gonna lead to a lot of disappointment. Folks are gonna have their expectations too high that you know, if they join a five-case break or a ten-case break, they're gonna walk away with a big stack of their player that they purchased, but probably not with the length of the checklist. PYT random team, probably like a six. I do think like as I'm sitting here, I haven't decided what I'm gonna do for this product yet, but now that I'm sitting here thinking about it, I feel like it would be really cool for pick your parallel. You know, I love those. I do feel like when I think about set collectors, and set collectors are a little bit of a dying breed, but this is one of the products that set collectors do like to go after. And I know of some people that like to go after one particular parallel and collect the entire set of the parallel for Topps Chrome Platinum Anniversary. There are some new parallels that they've added in, and yet to be seen how some of the parallels will look. But typically in this product, some of the parallels look outstanding. And I wouldn't be surprised if some folks saw those and said, I want to collect the entire set. So uh there might be some value there if you want to, if you decide that you want to collect an entire parallel set, because if you're if you're looking across an entire case, you're probably gonna get, depending on the parallel, you'll probably get a few. You might not know it's gonna be a complete surprise who they are, but that could be a good way of breaking this product too. And lastly, that brings us to our checklist. I'm gonna give this a seven out of 10. It is huge, but that's the nature of this product. 500 card checklist for the base cards, huge auto checklists as well. But when you get down to like the nitty-gritty of those super rare cards, at least that's a very, very solid checklist. And it's 500 cards, but it doesn't really feel like it's wasted on a bunch of random relief pitchers. It's it's people that really represent each team well. The legends they did a good job of. Solid seven out of ten on this checklist. It's just it's so big that that's what takes away from it. But again, that is the product we're dealing with. Yeah. I'm gonna give it a five. I just scrolling through the checklist, I I think they lack a little bit of creativity in this year's platinum anniversary. I would have I would have liked to see some more obscure names. I would have liked to see some cult classics. I'm thinking about guys like Munonori Kawasaki and and guys like that, you know, Bartolo Cologne that people that people laugh about, but they're highly collectible too. Um, and they're fun. I I see a lot of like Hall of Very Good and Hall of Good guys in this checklist, but I don't see a whole lot of like really fun, obscure, unique characters. And I would have liked to see them kind of index a little bit more to that side for future platinum anniversary releases. That's fair. Okay. Any other thoughts on Platinum Anniversary? You got everything out? Yeah, I'm looking forward to it, man. 55 is such a classic design. Platinum Anniversary is such a great release. I missed it last year. I really wish that there would have been a 2024 Platinum Anniversary because it would have been awesome with the depth of the rookie checklist. And I'm also looking forward to seeing well, I'm also gonna be sad that they're probably gonna miss it in 2026 because what they announced a couple years ago is that they're going every other year. So this is gonna be a 2023, 2025, and 2027 release. They're gonna miss two great rookie checklists with 24 and 26 potentially. So that's a little bit of a bummer. Uh, I do wish it was an every year release. I think that's got that kind of gravity to it. But I'm looking forward nonetheless to opening up 2025. I have no idea how I'm gonna break these horizontal cards, but I'm gonna try to make it make it work without looking too awkward. Yeah, you'll you'll figure it out. But yeah, I'm looking forward to it too. This is one of those sets where I don't even have to be a part of a break to enjoy it. I can just sit back and enjoy the cards and all the great players. EBay and Calm C set, you know, like especially Calm C. Calm C is so great with the slice and dicing on the parallels, and you know that when you when you click that filter button for you know blue prism, you're gonna see all the blue prisms, and you don't have to deal with the wackiness of eBay and all the different titles that people put out there. Like it's a great, like, it's a great rainbow chase, it's a great set collector's product, and it's also got a little bit of ceiling while having a very high floor. Yeah. So overall fun product, everyone, be ready for that release because it's gonna be a top scramble as always. I believe this one they screwed up the limits. Yeah. When they did the pre-order, I think they allowed people to pre-order like 12 cases and two boxes, which made no sense. People thought maybe they flipped them. So just be ready for whatever Topps Fanatics throws at us. If you see it available on retail, they won't last long there either. So get it. Yeah, everything about the order, the the release day, like you can tell how big of a race it's going to be to get the product by looking at what it's currently selling at secondary versus what they're gonna price it at. So if there's a significant enough gap to where flippers can make money, the product and it's not EQL, the product's gonna get wiped out by bots rather quickly. I think unfortunately for this product, it will get wiped out pretty quickly because of the gap there is between that 150 box price and the kind of the 250 price that it's selling at. But good luck to everybody. I hope that they're I hope that Tops is doing work on their anti-botting. I think that they are. So we'll continue to monitor and see what they're doing, how much they're making it easier for the common collector to get a box or a case. All right. Well, that does it for today's episode of Talking Cards with Grant Salami and the Juice.
