Cheating is one of the most painful experiences a person can go through.

It destroys trust.
Creates trauma.
And leaves people searching for answers.

But in this episode of Chopping Wood: The Real Conversations, Jack explores a difficult question:

Why do some men cheat?

Not to justify it.
Not to excuse it.

To understand it.

Because contrary to popular belief, cheating isn't always about sex.

Sometimes it's about validation.
Sometimes it's about unresolved wounds.
Sometimes it's about immaturity, insecurity, entitlement, or the inability to communicate emotional needs in healthy ways.

In Part 1, Jack breaks down:

• The psychology behind infidelity
• Why some men seek validation outside their relationship
• The connection between insecurity and betrayal
• What many men confess privately but rarely say publicly
• Why understanding behavior is different from excusing behavior

This is an honest, uncomfortable conversation designed to help both men and women understand the deeper issues that often exist beneath the surface.

Because healing starts with truth.

And truth requires us to look deeper than the behavior itself.

Do the work.

And Keep Chopping this Wood.🪓🪵

Welcome back to the Choppin' Wood Podcast, where good men come to become better men, and women come to better understand the men they keep choosing, losing, or loving. I'm Jack Daniels. And you know what? Before we jump into today's conversation, I want to take a moment and just say thank you. Thank you for listening. Thank you for sharing these conversations. Thank you for the messages, the comments, the reviews, and for helping this moment uh and and this movement continue to grow. One of the things that surprised me the most about Chopping Wood is how many people, both men and women, have found themselves somewhere inside these conversations that we're having. What started as a few honest talks online has now become a community of people. A community of people who are trying to understand themselves, understand each other, and grow. And that's exactly why we're doing these bonus episodes. We're revisiting some of the original conversations that helped build chopping wood from the ground up. The conversations that sparked hundreds of thousands of comments, millions of views, and and some very necessary discussions between men and women. Today's conversation is one of those conversations. It's a tough topic, man. I ain't gonna sit here and lie to you. Not because it's controversial, but because it's honest. And sometimes honesty can be uncomfortable. So as we dive into this episode, I want to encourage you to keep an open mind. But more importantly, keep an open heart. Whether you listening or uh and you a man or whether you're listening and you a woman, hey, I want you to try to hear the perspective beneath the words, try to understand the experiences behind the behavior. Because healing doesn't begin when we agree, healing begins when we understand. And understanding requires us to be willing to see through someone else's eyes. You hear me? If these conversations have helped you in any way, I wanted to ask you to do three simple things for me. Just three. Uh, number one, leave a rating, write a review, and then share this episode with someone who needs to hear it. Send it to a friend, send it to your partner, send it to another man who may be carrying something in silence. That's how this message grows. That's how we reach more people, and that's how we help more men do the work. So, with that said, family, let's get into today's conversation. Keep the faith, keep making it happen, and remember to keep on chopping this wood. Let's tap into this episode. Let me talk to you. Because this is the part of the conversation men usually skip over. We talk about why men cheat. We talk about the urges, the the biology, the temptation, the lust, the ego, the novelty factor. But we rarely talk about what happens after. Not just what happens to the relationship, but what happens to her and what happens to you? Because cheating isn't a private mistake, it's a public fracture. And and and once you cross that line, nothing stays untouched. This one's gonna hurt, man. But we gotta talk about it. Come on, let's chop a little bit more of this wood. You think cheating is one bad decision, it's one moment, one little secret, one release, one nut, right? You you you you think she'll get over it. It it didn't really mean anything, or I can fix this. But here's the truth that most of us as men that don't we don't understand. Cheating doesn't just hurt the woman, it rewires her. You don't just break her trust. You you you break her sense of reality. The woman who trusted her intuition, now she starts to question it. The woman who felt safe in love and the relationship, now she starts scanning for all of this danger. The woman who believed in you, now down to herself, you didn't just betray her body, man. You betrayed her entire nervous system. And you gotta get that in your head. Let me let me let me be really crystal clear. Because I think this really matters. When a woman commits to a man, when she committed to you, she didn't just choose you emotionally, she chose you biologically. Her body released that oxytocin that we were talking about, that bonding hormone. It ties her sense of safety, attachment, and belonging to you. So when you cheat, her body experiences it as trauma, not just disappointment. Let me tell you what's happening inside of her because I've counseled a lot of women, man, over the years, and I'm talking hundreds, and I need you to understand what's going on inside of her body, inside of her mind, when she's been cheated on. There's gonna be a level of uh hypervigilance, right? Which means that she's always gonna be on edge at some point. Uh, there's gonna be a level of anxiety, even when things are fine in her life and in her relationship. She's gonna have sleep disruption. She's gonna have intrusive thoughts, she's gonna have uh loss of appetite or emotional overeating, sudden insecurity about her body, emotional numbness, difficulty, trusting herself, other people, future partners. You don't just hurt her feelings, man. You disrupt her biology. That's why she can't just move on, that's why she keeps replaying all the details in her head. That's why she asks questions that feel obsessive. Her body is trying to survive what her heart didn't see coming. You did that. You you broke that in her. Let's get honest for a second, man. You didn't just cheat. You you you replaced her sense of safety with doubt. You didn't just lie. You you you taught her that love is unpredictable. You didn't just break her trust, you made her feel that intimacy feels dangerous. You didn't just hurt her, you changed how she loves. And here's the thing that you gotta understand is gonna hit the hardest. Because I I want you to understand it. She's gonna carry that betrayal, your betrayal, into her next relationship. Even if she doesn't even want to, that's the inheritance that you left behind. That's the inheritance and legacy that you're leaving behind. And if there are children involved, if this was a marriage, if this if you were co-parenting, your baby mom or whatever the case, whoever it is, if there are children involved, now the damage you've done has witnesses. Because kids just don't see it as infidelity, they absorb instability, they learn that love disappears, that that that trust is fragile, and families can be destroyed overnight. And that lesson follows them into adulthood. That lesson follows your little girl into adulthood when she's looking to pick a mate, to pick a man like you. Somebody gonna hurt your daughter. It follows your little boy who who sees relationships as just placeholders. It impacts it, man. You can't just think that it's just one little infraction. Let me talk to you, man to man. Cheating to just make you feel powerful long term, it fractures you. We talked about them now. Let's talk about you. Let's talk about what happens to you after you did the dude. You lose integrity and you feel it. Even if you want to deny it, you become this man that is more deceptive because now you have you got to maintain all these lies. You you got you gotta keep the lie going, right? You gotta you gotta keep telling yourself the lie, you gotta keep telling her the lie because you know you didn't tell the whole truth. We're gonna sit here and have, we're gonna sit here and look. Did you tell the whole truth? Or just the part that you knew that you can that that that she would be comfortable receiving. So now you got to keep lying. So what happens then is you lose self-respect, man. Quietly. You you you you you weaken your ability to bond with anybody deeply. You normalize betrayal all of a sudden, which lowers your standards to to you you start living these split lives. And here's that quiet truth that you don't like to talk about. Men who cheat, you don't feel free, you feel hollow. Because you know you betrayed someone who trusted you with their vulnerability. That information doesn't disappear. It sits in your body, man, and over time it erodes you, it destroys you. And and I know what you're sitting there saying. You sitting there saying, well, it didn't mean anything. Oh man, I hear it all the time. Well, I'm counseling a couple, they oh, it didn't mean anything. She was just a side chick, she was just jump off, it was just sex, it didn't mean anything. And let me tell you why. That's one of the most dangerous lies you could tell. It's it's it's literally the sentence that is the most destructive. When you say it didn't mean anything, let me tell you what she hears. So I wasn't I wasn't worth protecting. That's what she hears. I wasn't worth the love that we have. I I wasn't worth the trust, I wasn't worth the commitment, I wasn't worth the bond. The meaning behind what you did isn't measured by emotion, it's measured by impact. You don't, you don't, you don't, you don't get to decide how deeply something cuts after you swing the axe, man. And women don't break because they love too hard. They break because they trusted the wrong man to be safe with. They trusted you. She trusted you. So here's the truth, brother. And I want you to listen to me. Because I want to make it as plain and simple as I possibly can. When you cheat, you're not choosing another woman, you're choosing impulse over integrity, you're choosing ego over empathy, you're choosing momentary relief over long-term legacy. You're choosing to become a man, your future self will have you're gonna have to reconcile with that. And if you're listening to this, before you make that decision to cheat. If you're listening to this and you're thinking about it, you're flirting with it, it's on the horizon. You know what I'm talking about. The little text messages, the DMs, fiery emojis, the hearts, the constant like searching for something else inside yourself. A little coffee break room, the passing by, the smelling of a look, man, if you're thinking about it, this is your warning. You hear me? This is your warning. Because trust is broken once trust is broken, even forgiveness doesn't restore innocence, and the woman who loved you fully, with everything she had, will never love you the same way again. Not because she's bitter, but because she has learned. So the real question that I need you to ask isn't can I get away with this? The real question is, is this the man I want to be remembered as? Because desire passes, lust passes, but character, character, your character, it remains, it stays, and the strongest men, I need you to hear me, the strongest men aren't the ones who have the most options. The strongest men are not the ones that have the most options that they can choose from in terms of women. The strongest men are the ones with the discipline to protect what they already have. To protect what you have, your family, your children, your woman, your legacy. You gotta think about some of the choices that you are about to make or that you have made. So think about it, brother. Because the people you hurt is a totally different thing than that one little moment, that one little decision, that one little that that fraction of pleasure is not worth a lifetime of pain. Keep chopping this wood, man. Keep chopping your wood. I want you to do me a real quick favor. Take 30 seconds and leave a quick rating and review. Now, this ain't for me. This is for the next man who needs to really hear this because there's a lot of men out here that are just trying to figure it out. And sometimes the only thing that gets them to press play is seeing that somebody else got something from it. So if this podcast has added value to you in any way, pay it forward, leave a rating, drop a review, and help this message reach the people who need it most. I appreciate you. You know I do. Now let's keep chopping this wood together. Let me say something to the men that are listening. You ain't struggling because you don't know better. You're struggling because you're doing it alone. In your head, in your patterns, in your own way, man. And isolation will keep you stuck longer than anything else. That's exactly why I built Axis. It's a brotherhood, a circle of men, a space where you can grow, a space where you can be challenged and be held accountable, not judged, not coddled, sharpened. Because men don't grow in isolation. We grow in alignment. So if you're ready to step into that, ready to step into something better, greater, and level up, go to choppinwood.net, choppingwood.net and join us. Get around some men who are actually doing the work because who you stand next to determines how far you're gonna go. Go to choppingwood.net and join us. I see you on the inside.
