Routine is one of aviation’s most underestimated threats.

The most dangerous flight is often the one flown a hundred times. The most dangerous maintenance task may be the one performed on autopilots. Controllers and line personnel face similar risks during familiar, repetitive operations.

This episode examines how familiarity breeds complacency across aviation roles, how shortcuts quietly erode margins, and how vigilant aviators keep routine work from becoming hazardous. For aviation maintenance technicians (AMTs), repetitive inspections, servicing, and installations can quietly normalize deviance if vigilance fades.
