What is Juice Box doing in the Nothing?  Corbett and Mike talk about the plan that Juice Box might have and a little on Justice Light and his traps.  Mike is certain the dungeon is all squished together, but is it?!  Only the dungeons' hair dresser knows for sure.

SPEAKER_01

Welcome to Mongo is appalled. I am Corbett, and um I'm not appalled today. I'm actually not appalled.

SPEAKER_00

How about you, Mike? I'm only appalled when it comes to changelings. Oh coming down here stealing our jobs. Morphing into camel people, and we can't even tell them apart.

SPEAKER_01

Making them kiss hobgoblins.

SPEAKER_00

Turning them into Ursula, the octopoid creature from Little Mermaid, and yeah.

SPEAKER_01

That was a little weird. I'm gonna give Louie a bad call on that one.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I mean the Baroness, okay. I can I can see that one. A bit too B D S M for me, but you know. But yeah, the Ursula. No, no. I don't care how many tentacles she has. No.

SPEAKER_01

Well, the Baroness is really only weird when she makes you wear the iron mask. No. Oh. But um ching. For those G.I. Joe fans out there.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, and and wax your chest so you can go bare chested with a medallion.

SPEAKER_01

Gotta have a medallion. Otherwise, what's the point?

SPEAKER_00

Otherwise, what's the point? Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You know, I did notice in one of the cons, what was it? Matt Deniman was wearing a G.I. Joe t-shirt. So he's obviously a G.I. Joe fan.

SPEAKER_00

Well, yeah, because you gotta be a fan to make the his show is so racist.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Well Okay, you may have a point.

SPEAKER_01

Only directly in your face.

SPEAKER_00

Aside from half the Joes and half the Cobras. Yeah. Other than that, you're out you're out of out of order. This is insane. But anyway.

SPEAKER_01

Destroy me with us. I knew it.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah, that community episode. Yes, I loved him. Is that what you want to hear? Called it. Sartan. Attack! Avenge my totally platonic friend.

SPEAKER_01

Jobra.

SPEAKER_00

Yo, Jobra? What? Okay, for those of you who are not considering, we're talking about Juice Box and what's up with her. Yeah, people are going to start criticizing us for only picking female characters to talk about.

SPEAKER_01

There are a lot of female characters.

SPEAKER_00

Well, and as Liz pointed out, they're way more interesting than most of the male characters.

SPEAKER_01

I beg to differ. Louis's awesome.

SPEAKER_00

Most of them. Carl, Louie, maybe Don Quixote, but the rest are just kind of there, you know? The crocodile dude from Australia, Africa, Latin America, whoever.

SPEAKER_01

Now you're making me forget his name.

SPEAKER_00

I'm blanking on his name. This is so embarrassing. I've read the series three damn times. How am I forgetting his name? Anyway. The point is we're not talking about him. We're talking about Juice Box. The changeling. Well, what do you think of Juice Box?

SPEAKER_01

What do I think of her? Yeah. I think she scares the hell out of me. I agree with Louie, especially in the last book where he openly was like, She scares the hell out of me. Like, he she scared the hell out of me back in the fourth book. When she first appeared.

SPEAKER_00

Well, when she first appeared, yeah, she was well, the changelings in general seemed a bit more malicious, or at least Well, we didn't know what they were trying to do. Right. Well, we still don't know exactly what they're trying to do, but obviously involves her going into the nothing.

SPEAKER_01

Back then, back three books ago, we didn't know anything of what they were trying to do, and they scared the hell out of us. Now we know they are definitely doing something, and we still don't know what it is, and they still scare the hell out of us.

SPEAKER_00

So I must respectfully disagree. Oh, oh. Is she potentially scary? Yes. But at this point, she has done so much for him, and out of love, it it just seems like this is a matter of trust issues. And for whatever reason, Louis just can't trust that she's there for his well-being, and it's pretty obvious she is.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I do think it's interesting that that she is the one who admits that he is a pure soul. Yeah. Louis. Louis's a pure soul. Doesn't definitely see a darkness in Carl, definitely sees a darkness in other people, but in Louis is a pure soul. I honestly I really like Louis, so I'm okay with it, but it's pretty funny.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, he's got his foibles like any human. He got in Carl's face to argue for Christmas, for God's sakes. And that was at Carl's height of is he stable or not.

SPEAKER_01

I was pretty sure that uh Louis was gonna get punched in the face in that one, but yeah, or something.

SPEAKER_00

And obviously he did too, but that didn't stop him.

SPEAKER_01

Juice Box doesn't show up. She shows up in the fourth book, and then she shows up in the sixth book as a as a side piece where she's like killing people randomly in the background, and then she shows up in the seventh book. Full bore. She's about as prominent as Signet, so I can see your attraction to her.

SPEAKER_00

Just because I like a female character doesn't mean I want to boink her. I mean I'm just going by what I feel because I'm a pure soul. Well, I I'm I'm thinking what's gonna happen is while she's in the nothing, I think Louie is going to absence makes the heart grow fonder, kind of thing. He's gonna work through his feelings and and come I hope he does, because I think Juice Box deserves a little goodness in her life, because whether it was her brother going a bit wiggy about the whole thing on the fourth floor, trying to resurrect Miss Teradotalchick or you know, other stuff, it's I think she deserves some happiness. And I'm just very curious about the whole thing. You know, there when Dinnerman first introduced the nothing, it was kind of implied this was the end of all things, you know, it's out there, it there's no time, there's no space, you just are there. And implied strongly, once there, you can't leave.

SPEAKER_01

Well, the first time we were ever introduced was in the second book, wasn't it? When he went to the Desperado Club the first time? Or was it the What to the Nothing? Because one of the things on the wheel, he goes to the gambling area and bets a coin, and then it's like, oh, the only bad things are you know, lose a level and nothing. So nothing's no big deal, and he spins it and he sees somebody else across the way. Like nothing is because there's a giant pit opening up into a vortex of hell, which I think is hilarious with uh the sixth book when they open it up and it went crazy. Yeah. Because Samantha was there.

SPEAKER_00

Well, definitely the one of the devil chicks came through. Was it Gash?

SPEAKER_01

No, Gash was um on four floor. Oh, so slit. Think slit. Yeah. I think you're right.

SPEAKER_00

Lovely names.

SPEAKER_01

Uh-huh. But um delightful people. I'm sure the family reunion is heartfelt.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yes. Absolutely. There's love there. But anyway, it it that whole wheel at the Desperado reminded me a lot of the DD Deck of Many Things. Where you pull a card, and you know, depending on what the card is, you can get all sorts of goodies, you know, attributes raised, you can get a million experience points or something, and just some insane stuff. Or you have your soul taken by a demon, you know.

SPEAKER_01

Right on par, really.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's what I mean. It's it's like it's sort of that, it's like he was trying to get that effect in in a legally actionable way, and I think he succeeded.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But yeah, juice box obviously went into there and plans to come out, you know. She has to do something there. We don't know what it is. But if she if you can go into the nothing, get do something, and then leave, then by definition, time must pass there.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I mean, I guess it would have to. It would have to.

SPEAKER_00

If it didn't, wouldn't she come out at the exact same moment she left?

SPEAKER_01

Or feel like four million years has passed.

SPEAKER_00

Or four million years have passed, yeah. So I mean that's in which case time try time passes, it's just different.

SPEAKER_01

Well, a lot of this falls back on Justice Light. What the heck was Justice Light doing? Because we really know.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we he made that arrangement with J juice Box, and we seem to know that whatever he did wrecked levels 10 to 14 and just jammed them all together. It's like, wow, I wonder if we're gonna find out in the next book that Cascadia blew her brains out, own brains out. Because remember how traumatized she was about the seventh floor.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Well, that we know they're going to the tenth floor because the tenth floor is and they said that's there.

SPEAKER_00

So it's but it's all been merged together.

SPEAKER_01

Very possibly.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, that's got that's the impression I got at the end where they were talking about the level, you know, the barriers between the levels just kind of went and it was like, oh great. So not only are they in the celestial ascension, but all these other levels are there. How's that going to be done? I'm very curious to see that.

SPEAKER_01

It depends on how the folding because that's the that's the thing. It all falls back on Justice Lake, Justice Light because of the fact that he's an origami master. We know that he like does these weird origami sculptures that he does constantly. It's like a puzzle thing for him, like a guy who does a crossword every morning. It's the only thing they know how to do, and it's the only thing they're really good at.

SPEAKER_00

Yes his thing.

SPEAKER_01

Even Juicebox didn't trust this guy until he told her his plan, which we of course didn't get to hear at all. Right. And then she came back and told Carl, Oh, you're gonna like this. The only thing everybody seems to think Carl likes doing is blowing stuff up. I I'm kind of worried something is getting blown up that we don't know about. But she went into the nothing, so we don't know what that means.

SPEAKER_00

What if whatever Justice Slate did, because he kept saying it's the gods, it's always been about the gods. So what if whatever he did, and Juice Box may be either helping with or whatever she's doing is compatible with it, is to make the gods maybe by ripping out the celestial ascension floor, which is what twelve? Mm-hmm, into the you know, merging it with the other ones, it makes the gods easier to kill. Maybe. Or the rich jerks easier to be yanked out of the gods so they can then be killed.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I remember it does get a little blurry just because there's so much information being dumped on you. The end of the seventh book. Yeah. But when he talks about the traps being triggered, the bijou fairies are captured and then they're released. And the bijou fairies are what are released into the air whenever somebody joins a celestial entity. That was the thing they mentioned with the Naga. That's how they traced where they went to, or how they how they found the Naga uh in the on floor seven. Right. So, spoilers, if you haven't read that book yet, there's stuff coming your way. But uh well, we warned the But then he trapped and released Sjol Demons, which were also supposed to be part of the eviction notice, the zombie notice at the end of floor nine, which they didn't talk much about what was happening with that, although they did say it was happening vaguely in the distance. Uh Florin. Florin, yes, I finally remember the guy's name. You're messing with my head. You and your mind tricks. Are you the AI?

SPEAKER_00

New achievement.

SPEAKER_01

Remember a name. Florin's cool. I don't care. But yeah, I know there was the the demon eviction notice that was happening, but they never really talked about it because at that moment it seems like they were still dealing with the ball of swine or the well, the big ball. The ball of everybody was about to be broken open. Embrus was about to get something, like so much crap happening. Yeah. But yeah, the bijou fairies was part of that. And the Bijou fairies are what tether a soul to their deity when they connect to them or link to them or or share some kind of connection to them. So that would probably make the tethering part back to the twelfth floor. That could make sense why it would collapse if it did. I don't know. Well and I don't know how the nothing connects to everything somehow.

SPEAKER_00

Well, well, the desperado club really yeah, but it all only connects to things well, no, because it connects all the way down to the eighteenth floor, really. So I wonder if yeah, I mean, if the Desperado Club and Club Vanquisher, I presume, does the same thing, then yeah. There are quote unquote planes of existence outside the main floors. So yeah, it's interesting. I also find it interesting Justice Light's trick did not get the fifteenth floor.

SPEAKER_01

Well, the sixteenth floor is Sheol.

SPEAKER_00

Is that the sixteenth or the fifteenth?

SPEAKER_01

I thought it was the was it the fifteenth?

SPEAKER_00

I could be wrong.

SPEAKER_01

Let me see. Three, six, nine, twelve, fifteen. Yeah, you'd be right fifteen.

SPEAKER_00

So it's and then eight minutes. Only went from ten to fourteen or ten to fourteen, whatever Joseph's light did. Yeah. So what is Juice Box doing in the nothing? Macrame? I don't know. Maybe she's trying to it also occurs to me that if I'm right and Signet was not actually killed, killed, juicebox would have a second person there, NPC, that knows the truth.

SPEAKER_01

Oh.

SPEAKER_00

So both of those Who's also an NPC.

SPEAKER_01

Huh? Well, that's the other thing. Signet is not just an NPC, she's an elite NPC. NPC. Yeah. Juice box is just an NPC. She had many, many lives before that. Signet was specifically made for whatever the story was. Yeah. So she's not a repeat character, she's brand new, but she was told in her first life that she's nothing. And that's pretty dirty.

SPEAKER_00

And laughed at, yes, by s uh by Empress Danadia.

SPEAKER_01

So you might you might get your wish.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So what are they doing there? I wonder if they're trying to recruit all the demons and stuff that are there to attack the gods if they can get them out of the nothing.

SPEAKER_01

That would be interesting.

SPEAKER_00

But I really I really hope Juice Box and Louis get back together. I I think they're a good couple. I think they balance each other well because she's very cynical and mistrusting and everything, and Louis is Louie. So they work well together. Sort of like Carl and Donut, only not those snicks to the to the contrary, nothing weird going on there. But yeah, I mean Donut is the naive, innocent one, and Carl is the surly, mistrustful one.

SPEAKER_01

Well, just to keep a uh villain on the horizon for you, the maestro never died.

SPEAKER_00

Well, no, he's in a god.

SPEAKER_01

That's right.

SPEAKER_00

He's in the 12th level, or was. We'll we'll be interested in that.

SPEAKER_01

And honestly, he's the only heir to the uh the throne at this moment.

SPEAKER_00

At this moment, yeah. So he's got to go.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Gotta walk him.

SPEAKER_01

He'll have a definite comeback. I can't I can feel that one coming.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah. There's gonna be a big showdown between Carl and and Groll, Groll slash Maestro. So yeah, that that's gonna be satisfying. Naughty little piglet. Yep.

SPEAKER_01

But as far as juice box's plans, hmm, yeah, it's still I I would love to tell you I have a total theory on that one.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, considering how much time she spent trying to whack the faction heads in faction wars, it seems like it's like, okay, we got most, if not all, of them dead. Now it's time to go to the rich a-holes that are left, and they're in the celestial ascension, so that's gonna be curious.

SPEAKER_01

Well, they're yeah, different families that were in charge of the in the charge of the faction wars, and then the celestial ascension, which is the game everybody wants to play somehow. And it almost no crawlers ever make it to the celestial ascension.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Because I think Mordecai was the one who said nobody's made it past floor eleven.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And that was just right at eleven, you know, just as it started. So all the storylines for each floor, if it was jammed together, it's gonna just be a great big wad of c chaos, which Aeris certainly will enjoy. But anyway, Juice Box.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I presume Juice Box's reasoning to go into the nothing is to touch gods. Because there are gods.

SPEAKER_00

There are a few gods in there, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And that was our whole reasoning to like talking with Justice Light and oh those guards. The um The slugalos? No, no, no, the guards that can hold back the gods. Oh, the temple guardsmen. I can't remember. Yeah. The temple Yeah, not the not the Mantars, but the ogres who have the gold armor and yeah, the temple. Because they got they were able to touch them and they were able to stop the god, which they can convince a god what they are just based on what they are or what they think they are. That's kind of surprising. You would think a god can see through all that, especially one who's had his penis removed.

SPEAKER_00

Well, he's got different things on his mind.

SPEAKER_01

And if you haven't read book seven, sorry for the spoiler.

SPEAKER_00

You really should read book seven, it is awesome.

SPEAKER_01

But she's obviously going in. I would say that her general reasoning, at least her initial reasoning, is to go touch gods. Because I think that would be her motivator. Uh, but I think it goes in parallel or at least in tandem with whatever Justice Light was planning.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Will that provide more gods for if she can't.

SPEAKER_01

Well, Justice Light has severe guilt over killing an NPC. For no reason. Extreme severe guilt. The shopkeeper.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So he will so by helping, I guess, Juicebox, etc., he feel maybe he feels like he's redeeming himself somewhat by helping other NPCs. Alright. Guess we'll see. I guess so. Too many questions.

SPEAKER_01

Too many. You already have an answer. Tune in next show and find out. How we still don't know what's going on. Oh, we don't know. But we can guess. We can guess.

SPEAKER_00

That's what fans do. But we all have our limitations. And they will not break us. Even as Ursula.

SPEAKER_01

That came out sounded way more racist than I intended.
