The Sonoran Desert is a very dry, hot place where animals and plants must find ways to live with very little water. Our young podcasters explained the unique ways desert animals find food and shelter, sharing facts about the desert environment and the specific animals they chose to research.

Hello, welcome to the Maple Cat Chat. Today we are here with some first graders to talk about We are so glad you're here. Every habitat is special. Let's get the scoop to find out why this home is just right for the plants and animals who live here. It gets very little rain every year.

It gets really, really hot. There are also caves in the desert. In the desert, there are sandstorms. There are no trees. There are cactuses in the desert.

Great job, team. It sounds like the desert is just right for the plants and animals that live there. It has food, water, and plenty of shelter. We have some amazing animals to tell you about.

Squeak, roar, splash! Here come the facts. Camels have two humps on their back. Cotton-tailed rabbits are a medium size. Phoenix foxes use their tails to keep warm. The coyote has a good smell. The elf owl is the smallest raptor. The coyote has light brown fur. Wow, those are some amazing animals.
