Saltwater habitats are the vast oceans that cover most of our planet, filled with everything from shallow coral reefs to deep, dark water. In this episode, students shared facts about the incredible diversity of ocean life and the specific saltwater animals and habitats they researched.

Hello, welcome to the Maple Cat Chat. Today we are here with some first graders to talk about the water habitat. We are so glad you are here. Every habitat is special. Let's get the habitat scoop to find out why this home is just right for the plants and animals who live here.

SPEAKER_01

It's hot and cold in my habitat, and it depends where you are in saltwater habitat. They are a bunch of water and rocks. There is Carl in the saltwater habitat. Underwater volcanoes in the ocean.

SPEAKER_00

Great job, team. It sounds like the saltwater habitat is just right for the plants and animals that live there. It has food, water, and plenty of shelter. This just in. We have some amazing animals to tell you about. Squeak.

SPEAKER_01

And splash. Here come the facts. Starfish can go up to 40 arms and five arms. And they munch on oysters, clams, and shrimp. A whale is blue. Jellyfish can grow in the dark. A hammerhead shirk has a hammer-like head. Can you know that octopuses can get smaller? Starfish have little bums and have five bums.

SPEAKER_00

Wow, those are some amazing animals. Before we go, let's remember the three things animals need to survive in their habitats. Would you like to live in the saltwater habitat?

SPEAKER_02

No, no.
