The NorthWord
NorthWord is a daily Christian podcast from St. John's Fort Smith in collaboration with the Anglican Family. Hosted by Father Aaron from Fort Smith, Northwest Territories.
Here's how it works: Every Sunday we release the full sermon preached that morning. Then Monday through Saturday, you get 3-5 minute daily reflections based on that sermon - one thought you can actually use each day. Every Wednesday we explore the rhythm of Jesus' life and how his followers have lived it out for 2,000 years.
Whether you're Pentecostal, Orthodox, Baptist, Catholic, or just curious about faith - this is for you. Ancient faith. Real life. No fluff.
The Word. The North. Your Week.

The shepherd calling you has wounds. He is not asking you to walk anywhere he has not already gone. Today we look at 1 Peter 2 and learn what it means to entrust ourselves to the one who judges justly.
Good morning, this is Northword. The Shepherd isn't asking you to walk anywhere. He hasn't already been. Good morning, this is Northward, the Word, the North, your Week, a daily podcast from St. John's Fort Smith in collaboration with the Anglican family. I'm your host, Father Aaron, and there's a line from the Apostle Peter that we read on Sunday. By his wounds we are healed. Think about that for a second. The shepherd who is calling, he has wounds. He is not standing on a hillside at a safe distance yelling you to tough it out. He walked through the worst of it himself. And the wounds he carries are how your healing actually works. This matters because most of the voices competing for your attention right now don't have any skin in the game. The influencer has never met you. The politician doesn't know your name. The algorithm doesn't care if you're okay. They talk a big game about what you should believe and how you should live, but none of them have bled for you. Jesus has. That changes everything. Peter also says that when Christ was attacked, he didn't retaliate. When he suffered, he didn't threaten. He kept entrusting himself to the one who judges justly. He didn't grab power. He didn't tear the other side down. He trusted his father and he absorbed the hit. And that is the pattern we are called into. A life without valleys, a life with something solid at the center. A life where we don't have to claw back every insult, win every argument, protect every piece of turf. Because the shepherd who carried our wounds is still carrying us. Here's Thursday. Where are you trying to win something you don't actually have to win? Conflict at work, a disagreement with a family member, a running score you keep in your head. Hand it over and trust yourself to the one who judges justly. The shepherd has already taken the worst wound there is. He can handle the one you're still guarding. Thank you for having joined us this morning. This has been Northword, the Word, the North, your week, a daily podcast from St. John's Fort Smith in collaboration with the Anglican family.
