The NorthWord
NorthWord is a daily Christian podcast from St. John's Fort Smith in collaboration with the Anglican Family. Hosted by Father Aaron from Fort Smith, Northwest Territories.
Here's how it works: Every Sunday we release the full sermon preached that morning. Then Monday through Saturday, you get 3-5 minute daily reflections based on that sermon - one thought you can actually use each day. Every Wednesday we explore the rhythm of Jesus' life and how his followers have lived it out for 2,000 years.
Whether you're Pentecostal, Orthodox, Baptist, Catholic, or just curious about faith - this is for you. Ancient faith. Real life. No fluff.
The Word. The North. Your Week.

A garden doesn't grow by accident, and neither does a life with God. Four simple practices to carry into the weekend — and a reminder that the shepherd has already walked through the worst of it.
Good morning, this is Northword. A garden doesn't grow by accident, neither does a life with God. Good morning, this is Northward the Word, the North Your Week, a daily podcast from St. John's Fort Smith in collaboration with the Anglican family. I'm your host, Father Eric. And on Saturday, I want to give you something practical to carry into the weekend. Because hearing a good word is one thing, doing something with it is another. Think about a garden. A garden doesn't grow by accident. You don't wake up one morning with tomatoes. It takes attention. You dig the soil, you plant the seed, you water it, you tend it, miss a step, and you get weeds. The life of faith works the same way. It is not an event, it is cultivation. Learning to hear the shepherd's voice is a slow, steady, daily practice. If you don't plan for it, it doesn't happen. So here are four words for your weekend. Dig, plant, water, grow. Dig. Get honest this weekend. Sit with one question. Where have I been looking for the wrong shepherd? The wrong voice, the wrong promise, the wrong savior. Don't rush past it. Dig into it. Plant. Get into the word. Read John chapter 10. Read Psalm 23. Let those passages sit in you until the shepherd's voice starts to feel familiar. You are planting seed that will sprout in places you can't even see. Water. Pray. And I don't mean a performance. I mean a daily conversation. Tell him where you are. Tell him what's heavy. Thank him for one thing. Ask him for one thing. That's it. Water the ground. Grow. Get around the flock. Show up to church tomorrow. If you haven't been in a while, come anyways. If you're traveling, find somewhere to go. You grow in community or you don't grow at all. Those four steps aren't complicated. That's the point. Christian life is not mostly about knowing more, it's about showing up to the same small practices over and over and letting the shepherd do what he does. Thank you for having joined us this morning, for having joined us this week. This has been Northward The Word, the North, Your Week, a daily podcast from St. John's Fort Smith in collaboration with the Anglican family. Reach out by using the text us link in the description.
