The NorthWord
NorthWord is a daily Christian podcast from St. John's Fort Smith in collaboration with the Anglican Family. Hosted by Father Aaron from Fort Smith, Northwest Territories.
Here's how it works: Every Sunday we release the full sermon preached that morning. Then Monday through Saturday, you get 3-5 minute daily reflections based on that sermon - one thought you can actually use each day. Every Wednesday we explore the rhythm of Jesus' life and how his followers have lived it out for 2,000 years.
Whether you're Pentecostal, Orthodox, Baptist, Catholic, or just curious about faith - this is for you. Ancient faith. Real life. No fluff.
The Word. The North. Your Week.

Three small words — stop, stay, see — offer a practical framework for making the most important decisions from a place of faith rather than fear. The week closes with a grounded, actionable challenge drawn from Paul, Jesus, and James: how to stand still long enough to receive what God has placed in your season before you move on from it.

Good morning. This is Northword.
SPEAKER_01Stop, stay, see. Three small words that could change the entire trajectory of the decision you are about to make. Good morning. This is Northword, the Word, the North, your Week, a daily podcast from St. John's Ford Smith, in collaboration with the Anglican family. I'm your host, Father Aaron. I want to close out the week with something very practical for you to use. Three simple words that lead to three basic movements in life. St. Paul in Ephesians, Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount, James in his letter, all of these things that we've talked about this week, they kind of converge on the same basic principle, which is to be still enough to receive what God has for you. And so these three steps stop. When the urge to quit rises, the job, the relationship, the leadership role, whatever it is, the first thing we need to do is just stop. We don't draft the resignation, don't scroll the listings, don't plan the exit, not yet. First, stop. Then we stay. We stay long enough to ask God one honest question. God, have I received what you have for me here, right now? And if you don't know the answer, if you can't get a clear answer, stay a little longer. Maybe it's patience God is building, maybe it's forgiveness you need to extend, maybe it's wisdom you haven't yet received. James says, the one who doubts is like a wave tossed by the wind. We must stand still to receive what God has for us. See. Then see what God does. There is a profound difference between running from something and being called to something. One is driven by fear, one is anchored in faith. When God says stay, you will have peace even though it's hard. When God says go, you will have peace even though it's scary. But if you're just running, you won't have peace anywhere. Stop, stay, see. Don't move on until you've moved in. This has been Northward The Word, the North, your week a daily podcast from St. John's Fort Smith in collaboration with the Anglican family. Your season has a reason. May you have the courage this week to stop long enough to find out what it is. And then you can use the text us link in the description to reach out and tell us where you are in your season. We would love to hear from you and where you are on your journey. And until next week, may God be with you.
SPEAKER_00In the name of Fower, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
