The NorthWord
NorthWord is a daily Christian podcast from St. John's Fort Smith in collaboration with the Anglican Family. Hosted by Father Aaron from Fort Smith, Northwest Territories.
Here's how it works: Every Sunday we release the full sermon preached that morning. Then Monday through Saturday, you get 3-5 minute daily reflections based on that sermon - one thought you can actually use each day. Every Wednesday we explore the rhythm of Jesus' life and how his followers have lived it out for 2,000 years.
Whether you're Pentecostal, Orthodox, Baptist, Catholic, or just curious about faith - this is for you. Ancient faith. Real life. No fluff.
The Word. The North. Your Week.

Good morning, this is North Ripg, not because of them, but because of the groove that was there before they arrived. Good morning, this is Northword, the Word of the North, your week, a daily podcast from St. John's Fort Smith, in collaboration with the Anglican family. I'm your host, Father Aaron. Today's episode is brought to you by the Northern Store, a cornerstone of Fort Smith life, essential goods, and a genuine commitment to this community. Whatever you need, they're there. You know the relationship that's so wrong. You've ended it many times, but somehow, for some reason, you just keep going back. And it's not because you're weak. It's because the pole is not really about the other person. It's about the groove that was there before they even arrived. It's about the unmet need they were filling. It's about the familiar shape of the wound that you have that they fit into. Until that is named and dealt with, you will find the same person just in a different body every single time. This is what Paul means when he says, You owe nothing to sin. Not that the pole disappears, but that it its claim on you has been broken. You are dead to it. The old master no longer has jurisdiction. The question is not whether you feel the pole, the question is whether you know you do not have to obey it. Find the root, not the presenting problem. We keep talking about this week. It's the root that we're looking for. The thing underneath the presenting problem. What need is this pattern feeling? What would you have to feel if you stopped feeling that need? Then bring it to a witness. Remember, bring it to an elder. Someone who you can trust, someone who you can be truly yourself in front of. A human being who knows your real patterns and will not let you perform a fake self around them. And then decide. You know what you keep going back to? You are dead to it. What did we say? Reckon it so. It's fact that you are dead to it. You do not need to go back. Present your hands, your tongue, your eyes to the living God, not to the old master of sin. He is dead. You are alive in Christ. So we need to walk like we are. This has been Northword the Word, the North Your Week, a daily podcast from St. John's Fort Smith in collaboration with the Anglican family. You are alive to God, and you are dead to sin. Reckon it so. It is a fact. And walk out of this week, living the resurrected life Christ purchased for you. And then you can use the text us link in the description to reach out because we would love to hear from you and where you are on your journey. Until next week, may God be with you.
