Episode 62 - Hummingbirds of Spring and Gods Provision

We tend to our gardens and our flower pots and anxiously await for the birds od spring which remind us of Gods provision

This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine. Hello and welcome to Shine. I'm your host, Nicole Florence, and this week we are talking a little bit about renewal and spring and rebirth. And today I want to talk a little bit about hope. Right? Because we know with spring and all that comes with it when we anxiously await our our garden to flourish. All those cherry tomatoes and uh hot peppers that we all know we have so many we don't know what to do with them. Um for the flowers to bloom. For me, um the hope that I look forward to every spring and summer is for the hummingbirds. You know what incredible birds, creatures that were created that are all the way in South America, and they will fly all the way, at least one or two that I see, will fly all the way to Springfield, Illinois and come to our feeder and our flowers and feed every single morning for the season before they have to return. And I always think about how incredibly miraculous that is, that somehow that small hummingbird makes its way all the way to my little backyard and my feeder. And every morning when they come to feed, it just brings me such incredible joy that I was part of God's provision, God's plan for that beautiful bird to come and see me every single morning for its food. And I think that's part of what we see in terms of being hopeful for spring. I think it reminds us of God's provision and God's provision for good. You know, so many of us are going through different things, um trials, afflictions, um health issues, you know, you name it, we know that life keeps lifing, right? We keep talking about that, but one thing that we do know is that one day it will all be for good. And every single day is a day closer to that good, and so for me, spring and renewal and hope reminds me of God's provision, and that everything he does, everything he touches, every purpose for each one of us is for good. Even though sometimes it is beyond our understanding, and there are times we aren't necessarily feeling it, ultimately we do know that he loves us, and by his mercy and by his grace, there is a plan for goodness in everything. And so I think that's why I also love spring and the birds, is particularly that humming bird every single morning reminds me of God's provision and how I play a part in that plan, whether it be for someone else or how someone else is playing a part in the provision for uh myself or my loved ones. And I'm reminded of uh Jeremiah chapter 17, verse seven. The person who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence indeed is the Lord, is blessed. He will be like a tree planted by water, it sends its roots out toward a stream. It doesn't fear when he comes, and its foliage remains green. It will not worry in a year of drought or cease producing fruit. And I think about that in times where we may feel the heat, we may feel the drought, we're unsure where our water source is, but we know ultimately, through God's provision and his purpose, we do not need to fear those elements, so to speak, or those afflictions, because it will not prevent us from producing our fruit, and we will not allow fear to prevent us from our faith and our purpose through Him. So I hope there's something that you look forward to in spring that will remind you of His provision, that will remind you to have that faith over fear, and that every single thing he touches is for a purpose and is for good.
