We must make sure that our words and our hearts align with Gods purpose

Psalm 19 : 14

This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine. Hello and welcome to Shine. I'm your host, Nicole Florence. And today's verse is Psalm 19, verse 14 and 15. In fact, this is a verse that I say before each episode. My plea and prayer before recording. But also as I just go through my day with work and relationships and interactions with others. And it reads, May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, Lord, my rock and my redeemer. And I always want to remind myself of that because I think too often we are not intentional about our words. We know that they can be very powerful, they can be poisonous, toxic, they can be hurtful, but at the same time they can also be kind of that seed or even soil to fertilize the fruit of the spirit in others, whether it's words of you know gentleness or kindness, love. And I think nowadays too often we see that we very so quickly throw out a lot of words and we say a lot of things that we don't understand how harmful they can be, or maybe people do and they just don't care. I'm not really sure. But I know if we are to walk with the spirit, it is really important for my words to be in alignment with the spirit of truth. And we know there's some that will say the right thing, right? They have the words that um seem to uh sell a good story or kind of entice you into thinking that the intentions of their heart are pure, um, but they may not be in alignment. And what we know about God is it doesn't matter how eloquent we are, it doesn't matter if we stutter um like Moses and we need an Aaron. It really matters most is the intentions of our heart. That's what he sees. We know that because that's what he saw in David. We know that he sees the intentions of hearts through so many stories in the Bible. You know, um, that uh prophet that was thrown off his donkey, right? And he appeared to say all the right things, but we know the intentions of his heart were not true. And so I love these verses here from the Psalm of David, that are a plea to God that whatever comes through my mouth is in alignment with the meditation of my heart, that it always be acceptable to you. That it always be with purpose, that it always be with the purpose that you have for me, that it always be with intention, because ultimately I want to say and be and do what is most pleasing to the Lord, not what is most pleasing to man. And so I've learned to keep this verse with me, not only prior to recording this podcast, like I said, um, but also um when I'm going into uh crucial conversations, difficult situations, if I'm going into a conversation where I feel my purpose is through the spirit and I want the spirit to speak through me, I say it before even my speaking engagements. You know, I might be talking about uh obesity and metabolic disorders, but God, I hope that the words of my mouth and what comes through my heart are acceptable to you in anything and in anywhere that I am, knowing that I am your faithful child and steward of who you are and your character and all that I do. Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
