n this episode, I review Bugonia, the latest Oscar-nominated film from director Yorgos Lanthimos, starring Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons.

The film follows a troubled conspiracy theorist who becomes convinced that a powerful corporate CEO may be part of an alien plot to control humanity. When the two characters finally cross paths, the story unfolds in the strange, darkly comic, and often unsettling style that Lanthimos has become known for.

Bugonia received four Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Female Actor in a Lead Role for Emma Stone, Best Original Score, and Best Adapted Screenplay.

In this episode, I break down what worked in the film — including strong performances from both Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons — the underlying themes around grief, power, and conspiracy, and why this very “Yorgos-level weird” film won’t be for everyone.

I also discuss the film’s chances in this year’s Oscar race before giving my final fork rating.
