Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
In this episode of Black & Victorious, we get into identity, culture, travel, relationships, and everything in between.
We start by debating PG County vs DMV identity and what makes Prince George’s County such a unique place for Black people to live, grow, and feel comfortable. From there, we get into education, PWI vs HBCU experiences, and the pride and soul that come with HBCU culture.
Then the conversation shifts to vacations — fellas trips, family trips, travel styles, and the responsibilities men still carry even when they’re supposed to be relaxing. We also talk about Egypt, Jamaica, and why Cycle Jamaica definitely did not feel like a vacation.
Later in the episode, we dive into what’s happening with ICE, how history repeats itself, and whether Black people should keep trying to warn everybody or just let events speak for themselves.
We close with a conversation about Cam Newton’s comments on platonic friendships and whether men and women can really just be friends.
This episode has humor, depth, cultural pride, and real conversation all the way through.

Keep your feet over there, your feet, dog. Keep your feet over there, yeah. My foot was right here. What's up, y'all? I'm black. And I'm victorious. But I'm also victorious. And I'm also black. And this is the Black and Victorious podcast. What's up with you, Chan? What up, black? I see you with your shirt. You know what I'm saying? PG to the you already know what it is.
SPEAKER_02You already know what it is.
SPEAKER_01Why you can't. I don't know. From me. Did you all the way grew up in PG County? What does that mean? Like forever? What does that mean? Like, are you, did you at the time? I'm really DMV. Nah, you ain't PG though. I'm really DMV. You okay? So I was. I mean, you can be DMV. What are you going at? Listen. All right. I was born in in DC, the Washington Hospital Center. Oh, okay. I stayed in Southeast. Oh, how from how long? For until I was six. Six. And then I moved to Sootland. I moved to Pembroke. Pembroke, that's the one. Pembroke was the first place that I moved. I moved from Pembroke to Capitol Heights. Okay. I moved from Capitol Heights to Foresville.
SPEAKER_02CH to Foursville.
SPEAKER_01Yep. And that was my that was from six to after college. You know what I'm saying? So that was like like 2028? Nah, I stayed there for a minute. I moved to Virginia for a little bit. Okay. And I moved to DC for a little bit. But what I'm saying is I'm real DMV because my my mother's side of the family is from Virginia. Okay. Glee Road, the valley, Green Valley. You don't know nothing about that. Nah, I don't know nothing about that. Yeah, it's just yeah, it's Green Valley popular joint in um Virginia. So yeah, my family my mother's side of the family from there, and my father's side of the family is from Southeast. So I would go to church in Virginia and do all of that. And then I would go on my cousin's house and do all that.
SPEAKER_02Oh, right. I feel like that's the story of a lot of animals from this area.
SPEAKER_01I don't think so.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I because I didn't. It was PG. Well, it was PG School. You only go to PG School. Frenchware's New York. Did you go to PG schools?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I always went to PG schools.
SPEAKER_02Oh, all right. That's what's up.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Jonathan Howard. All right. Roger B. Tani. Tawny. Francis got Key. Key. Oh, you went to Key? Yeah, I went to Key. I went to Key too. Yeah, my mind.
SPEAKER_02Oh Key. Before they made Drew Freeman? Yep. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well, I didn't even know it was Drew Freeman. Yeah, I was. I went when it was a tag school.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Why do you say that?
SPEAKER_01Why you say that?
SPEAKER_02Because it was, yeah, were you tagged?
SPEAKER_01Yes. But why did you say it like that though?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I just feel like I just for some reason you just you don't give tag.
SPEAKER_01No, I was I don't give talent to the gifted. You don't give tag to me. It don't look, you don't give a. No, you know that you know okay. So do you know that my I had a uh a very like they had the IQ test, and the reason why I went to Franciscott Key is because my IQ test was extremely high.
SPEAKER_02Oh, as in Okay.
SPEAKER_01In in in elementary school. That's what's up, man.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because I was supposed to go to Andrew Jackson. You're supposed to go to Jackson, but they put you at Drew Frame.
SPEAKER_01I mean key. Yeah, because my my you know my IQ was impactful.
SPEAKER_02What team was you on?
SPEAKER_01What team? I don't remember.
SPEAKER_02All be team. I don't remember that. All my key, all my friends got key, Drew Framing. You don't even know.
SPEAKER_01You know, I just you know what's crazy to me. You know what's crazy to me? Yeah, is that it's it's things that are very important that you don't remember, but you remember these these things that are irrelevant.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I remember I was on the B team because I wasn't tagged. You don't you that's how I knew you wasn't just by tag? The team was you on, you don't remember. But no, I was I'm from PG all day. Like PG is like I salute PG, even my company, man. The spizzy was all about PG celebration of PG County. County's like the blackest and best county in the world.
SPEAKER_01So you never you never took took a hold of the DMV mantra.
SPEAKER_02No, I mean I'm from the DMV, but nah, I'm PG County. I'm gonna tell you why though, right? Because I think a lot of times, especially when I was growing up, you know, a lot of people from PG who was in PG want to claim DC. Yeah. And I'm like, young, what's wrong with being from PG? PG is like that, it's tight, it's trees and stuff. And you know what I'm saying? I love PG, man. I love my I love my neighborhoods growing up. I love the schools that I went to, and I love it even more now that I've got to travel out of PG County and do stuff outside of PG County and understand that there's only one. We are blessed to be here.
SPEAKER_01I agree, I agree, and you know what I'm saying? Like, that's that's some stuff to unpack because I was one of those dudes. Yeah, like but I've always I'm saying, like I said, I'm from DMV. I'm from a DMV. But I was always one of them dudes that if you ask me, the short answer is I'm from DC. Why you had to say that? I don't I don't know. Now that I'm thinking about it, I you know, I feel like DC was probably the most uh it's like saying Atlanta. And somebody's not from Atlanta, they from, you know, the uh uh another part of Atlanta, like East Point, or you know what I'm saying, all of these different places, but Atlanta is yeah, I I'm you know, but I think PG is huge, right?
SPEAKER_02PG is massive, and I think that you know, Prince George's County, man, is uh has grown to be uh you know a special place. And I choose I've chosen to to raise my son here, yeah, you know, to continue to live in this county, you know, and I I got a lot of faith in it. I feel like it I call it a little, you know, baby wakanda. Yeah. I probably I mean, dog, I love PG. Like um, um Because you know, we take for granted, dog, like we take for granted like the ability to go like to a restaurant and just see us in there. Or go to a store and just in your your level of comfort when you go from one place to another, you don't feel the thing I say about PG anytime I go somewhere is that I don't feel my blackness. Yes, you don't feel it, and that is a that's a that's a benefit because you're just around your people. You know what I'm saying? You could just be you.
SPEAKER_01I think that that gives us a false perception of the rest of United States.
SPEAKER_02May give some people, I guess.
SPEAKER_01It gives me that. Yeah, like because I realize that it's a lot of black people here when someone from another place where it's not a lot of black people come. And then they be like, yo, you know, you know what I'm saying? And I'm looking at it like, what? Yeah, I'd be like, you don't got black people here? You know what I'm saying? That's crazy. I know you got black people, so yeah.
SPEAKER_02It's it's we definitely blessed and highly favored, uh definitely PG to the devil. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I mean now that I think about it, I should have learned that lesson when I went to college.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah, you probably should have.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Don't don't don't don't do this right now. I'm a trying to know I'm sensitive. You know I'm sensitive about me. Don't do this right now. Yeah, I'm just I'm not even trying. It ain't my fault. That's what you used to grow up in PG and then you go there. I went there. So let me tell you something that you've done for me, and you know and I'm about to be vulnerable and people probably gonna go on me or whatever. But you have in a way I don't think that I was fully, fully, fully proud of my blackness per se. Or I thought that there were that their stuff may offer something better. So when I say like, for instance, you know, people have this idea and I d and I and and it's not my thoughts now, but people have this idea that you know if you send someone to a white school, you know what I'm saying, they'll give a better better education. And to be honest, like resource-wise, that should be true because they have the resources that in our schools we don't necessarily have because they don't fund us the way that they do these other schools. And so, you know, I'm under the belief of that when I was growing up, even me and going to college, you know what I'm saying? I went to uh PWI, I went to San Adolfo University. And um, yeah, yeah, I just why you why you yeah, I don't why you I'm sorry. You feel like you sorry. I don't feel like you sorry, you know, you smirking no I'm just sorry that you had to take them like in my experience.
SPEAKER_02No, I mean no distribu I mean it's just like you you grew up in PG. Yeah, and then you go to Shenandoah.
SPEAKER_01I went for basketball though, let's be clear. They ain't had basketball teams, HBCUs? Yeah, they had basketball teams at HBCUs, but I had a uh interesting, uh interesting.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I so I'm not even gonna, I'm not mad. I'm not hating on you, bro, because you're experiencing young. Nah, nah.
SPEAKER_01If you gotta get out. I wanted to go to an HBCU. You did. I did. Alright, so there we go. What happened? It's a long story. Long story short, but my uh my basketball coach in uh in my junior college. I went to a junior college. Yeah, my basketball coach was like, hey, look, you gonna be here for one year. You know what I'm saying? We're gonna get you a scholarship to another to you know a four years joint, right? The night of our game, you know, the first game, he he passed away. The night of the game. Yeah, he passed away. The assistant coach then took over, and I used to work in the gym, you know. Yeah. And so the season was over, whatever, and I was going to him like, look, hey, look, you know, I'm supposed to be going to he said blah, blah, blah. He was like, nah, you ain't ready. You gotta have two years here. But my man used to clean his office. My man brought me all of these, all of these uh letters of interest from schools. Okay. It was one from Morgan, it was one from Copping, it was one from Virginia State. Yeah. Man, I talked to, I think it was the Copping coach. And Obama said, you know, yeah, your coach said you're not ready. Well, I'm I mean, I'm sorry to happen, man. So I went to Shannadore because my best friend at that time went to Shannon Dor and he was hooping, and I knew we could be a dynamic duo.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, that was funny.
SPEAKER_01Um What was funny about that?
SPEAKER_02That dynamic duo piece.
SPEAKER_01But nah, it's you didn't play basketball. You didn't play sports, so you wouldn't understand. Did not play basketball. Yeah, so you wouldn't understand the whole little dynamic thing. You wouldn't understand. You're right. I you're right. I was just too. Yeah, this is not a spelling bee. You know what I'm saying? If it was a spelling bee or something like that, then maybe you'll understand, but it wasn't that. I'm a horrible speller. Oh, but then if it was a reading bee.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, a reading bee is crazy. But nah, I get it, man. That I mean that's that's the wick because you ain't go to HBCU. Shout out to everybody who went to HBCUs, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01Like, that's shout out to the black people that also went to PWIs and created your your own HBCUs within the PWI.
SPEAKER_02I don't think nobody's gonna say anything. No one's gonna raise their hand. Uh what you mean? I think more people will raise their hand for HBCUs.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so every time, let me say this though. Every time it is a sense of pride, not beautiful. Yeah, I can feel it when I every time I feel it right now radiating off from it. Now, every time, so every time I go, like I went to the homecoming with you this year. Yeah, it's just yeah, I can say that. Yeah, yeah, you just feel it, yeah, and it just feels like family. But let me tell you, let me feel like home, yeah. It feels warm, it feels yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's the HBCU experience, yeah. It's it's school that takes care of you, yeah. You know, and there's the there's the what it is is that it has a soul, yeah. Oh, you know what I mean? HBCUs, you have a like people care about you. It's a soul, it's a it's a it's a different experience. And so I'm glad you got able to experience it, man. Like HBCUs are just but hold on, let me just say HBCUs are beautiful.
SPEAKER_01Morgan State, the Morgan State University is I mean, I understand, but I feel like if if you went to Howard, you would say the same thing.
SPEAKER_02If you went to uh if you went to No disrespect to Howard, no disrespect to Howard, no disrespect to I went to I went to Bowie too. I got my masters from Buoyah. No disrespect, no disrespect to any other HBCU, but Morgan, Morgan is just different, dog.
SPEAKER_01So what I'm saying to you is I'm quite sure that Hampton feels the same way. I'm quite sure that Howard, I'm quite sure that people in the state, I'm quite quite sure that all of these different places feel that way about their HBCU. People can how can you say, how can you say that?
SPEAKER_02That's what I'm telling you. People can feel, I mean, anything they want to feel, but the facts are What are the facts? There is no institution like the Great Morgan State University.
SPEAKER_01Okay, you did you just that sounds like opinion?
SPEAKER_02No, it's a fact.
SPEAKER_01So how is it a fact? You haven't given me any substantial data that says that this is correct.
SPEAKER_02You sitting here talking to me.
SPEAKER_01What does that mean?
SPEAKER_02That that for real, for real. That is not I mean, you don't lead with that. That's the best data you got. You crazy the best data you got. You don't lead with that. You literally just said, I appreciate you introduced me to HBCU experience, and I appreciate it feeling like home and warm, and you say I'm gonna win a reading B. But but you just said that. That's you know why all that is? It's because of my HBCU.
SPEAKER_01So you don't think that it's other people that go to the HBCU or another place that doesn't love to read and doesn't and doesn't and and and wouldn't invite me to uh come in and what's up.
SPEAKER_02HBCUs provide the best education in this in this entire country. So my people always have. So and we are the only institutions that did not have did not segregate based on race or gender or class. Okay. HBCUs set the standard for equality in this country and have always been. So yes, shout out to all the HBCUs. But everybody who goes to HBCU and shout out to HB their HBCU, they know that their HBCU is the best. And so I am a graduate of the great Morgan State University.
SPEAKER_01Okay, and because of that. I'll take that. I'll take that. Yeah, I'll take that because you went there, you get that.
SPEAKER_02It's like it gotta be that. It is that.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I get you. Yeah, you understand?
SPEAKER_02And we completely forgot about Shenandoah, that doesn't even exist anymore.
SPEAKER_01So I'll say this. Yeah, I went to the PWI and the experience, though. I mean, I'm kind of torn because you know, I've met some great people there that have been a part of my life. You know what I'm saying? Like, yeah, the experience has has definitely helped me. Now, had did I have the same resources and all of that? To be honest with you, I probably, I probably shouldn't have gone to an HBCU. Because back then I was I was horn dogging. I was horn-dogging at a PWI with the black girls that are at the PWI. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And some white and some white. I just threw that in there, but then you shouldn't have said that. But yeah, I'll just say what I said. Yeah, but but if I went to an HBCU, oh Lord, goodness gracious, I would be reckless. I would be reckless, you would have been reckless, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you're right. Would have thank you for putting it past. No problem, brother. I got you. You know what I'm saying? That's what I'm here for.
SPEAKER_01Calm down there, buddy. Yeah, calm down. Yeah, I would have been reckless, though. Yeah, man. I was all I've I've I've never been a good student.
SPEAKER_02Like, I've never been. Yeah, shout out to my home. Like, I wasn't, I was a the I was a real good student in high school. When I got to Morgan, though, the academic rigor was just through the roof. I was a history major, it just it just got like quick. Yeah, so I thought everything I could do at high school, I'd just do it in college and I'd be in academic probation instantly. But I met my home like instantly, dog. Yeah, instantly. But I met my homies from Uptown, yeah, M Easy. He now owns the social justice school. Shout out to M Easy and Trey from UCB. Right. Them dudes got me right, and we would go to the library every day, yeah, grind, study, and you know what I'm saying. I got my grades up because of them two dudes.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, I say this about Trey. Trey has always been like a forward thinker. He's always been, you know, he's always none things different. That's my man. He liked that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, he's always been like super cool, yeah. Yeah, uh he he well, I'm saying they're talking about Trey, but he came to homecoming for the first time last last year. He was cool. Trey's always been good, though. Always, always been a cool dude, yeah.
SPEAKER_01That's tight. 100%, yeah. You know the difference between like y'all have parties, PWIs have like gatherings. Like y'all go to your joy, y'all dance it and all of that. Yeah, PWIs, they you go to a uh the frat house or whatever. You've been to a frat house? I mean, dog, we was the basketball team, so we was invited to everything, it was so boring, you know. Nah, the whole team. No, no, no, what I'm saying is the whole team was black.
SPEAKER_02No, I get it. I understand.
SPEAKER_01And so we would all go like making money for school. Yeah, yeah. I'll be honest. We were the only team that was making money for the school. Yeah, I get it. And so, you know, we would go to these different places. I don't know, bro. I don't know. I feel like you know, your your remarks and shit is like condescending. Like, you know, so I'm trying to. You're really not into the conversation. Like, you don't even want to hear what I'm saying. I don't.
SPEAKER_02All right, well, let's just move on then. Yeah, we should. Because that whole experience, dog. It's just like, why do you even talk about it? Because it's my experience.
SPEAKER_01You said forget your life.
SPEAKER_02You basically telling me forget your life. It's not even worth putting up against the experience that I HPC. I'm not trying to put it. I just don't even that's just just anyway. Just ask me questions about what it was like going to the beautiful Morgan State.
SPEAKER_01Nah, I'm good. I'm good off that cool. I'm good off that. I think I already saw it. Yeah. You come how coming this year, though. I don't know, yeah. Yeah, you coming. I don't know. It makes me feel it make me feel like you know I missed out.
SPEAKER_02You did. Yeah, I just I want to be clear here. I don't want to, I you know what I'm saying. I don't want to like miss what you know.
SPEAKER_01Man, shout out to my shiny dog folks, man. Love y'all, man. Yeah, shout out to the way Doggest State University. Yeah, right. So since we compare it, man. Yeah. Um do you prefer a fellas vacation or a family vacation?
SPEAKER_02Oh, Jew, why would you ask me that with hammers rolling? Um, so let me say this.
SPEAKER_01You always trying to put some kind of disclaimer. I got to because why you gotta put a disclaimer? Just answer the question. Why you gotta do a disclaimer? Because you wanna soften it up for the for the person that you know what I'm saying, that you might, you know. Well, that's what you're trying to do. No, you ask me a question. I'm about to answer the question. But you just you start screaming about me and answering which I answer it. All right, go ahead. Go ahead. Yeah, and go ahead and say your disclaimer too. Go ahead. You got it. I'm gonna let you just do what you want to do. So I think I like them for different reasons.
SPEAKER_02Okay. So when you on a fellas trip, right, you are able to. And I this one thing, I don't think fellas do enough. I don't think they go on fellas trips enough. I think that there's dudes who be going on those passport bros trips. Yeah. Yes, ridiculous. But they do that. But I'm talking about the actual like vacation where you hang with your homies and enjoy yourself. It's an opportunity to like take off all your titles for a second and just, you know what I'm saying, and just be who you are rather than having to be um, you know, all the so many of your titles, right? When you're on a family vacation, and that's part of being a man, it's like my wife talks about this when we go on vacation or we go anywhere, she always talks about this uh ability to shut off her brain. And so she won't even be worried about what nothing at. She don't be, she just be just following along, kind of in la laying because I'm like taking care of all of these things. So even when we're on vacation, my brain, man's brain, I'm thinking about all of these different things, like where's what da-da-da-da, protection, right? Like, I'm full, my brain is full with things. Um, and so when you are on a fellas trip, you could just like I ain't got to worry about him. Yeah, I ain't gotta worry about it.
SPEAKER_01It depends on who you go with.
SPEAKER_02What you mean?
SPEAKER_01Like, you might have to worry about somebody, like you know what I'm saying? The person that drinks too much, the person.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, yeah, I guess so. But nah, but it's still not the same worry. You right? I ain't worried about nah, actually not. No, no, like no, like I I'm gonna make sure that my everybody um and inside of me with a safe. Okay, but like I don't like, bro. Nah, I'm good. So which one would you choose? I'm choosing both. Like, cause I don't because hold, I will say this. You you know how we just we hung out like for three weeks. Like we had a back to back. Yeah, I get sick of you. Yeah, no, I'm sick. Now I don't want to hang out with a dude like more than like two, three days.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you're now we're good. Yeah, yeah. You're ridiculous. You're like you complain about me having the water running, you know what I'm saying? You like this crazy, like like you, like you, you paying the water bill. You're not paying the water bill at the hotel. It is about it just I mean at the moment conservation. Now, I'm not trying to conserve anything in the hotel.
SPEAKER_02Like, we young women you ain't even know, young. I don't even care that you like how big you are, young. You start littering, young. I Wanted to fight. I can't stand Bamels who litter young. Bamels who litter young should be like young. I just I just don't understand the concept. And you don't litter no more. So I want to be clear.
SPEAKER_01I was never like a habitual litterer. Like I've never been there. You might catch me, you know, every now and then throwing uh a mint paper out or whatever. Like, I'm not throwing no McDonald's bag, or I don't eat McDonald's, but you know what I'm saying. And I don't care if you look at me like that. I don't I don't care, Vic. I don't care, but you have these small little things. Like, I don't understand how you was complaining about the water. How was you complaining about the water in a hotel?
SPEAKER_02I wasn't complaining. You was complaining. I just told you, young. You acting like it's just because you don't pay the water bill, young. It's conservation. You just don't leave the water running. People don't got water.
SPEAKER_01What does the where's that water going? Is that water getting recycled and being reused? Like, I'm not using up the water.
SPEAKER_02It's a mindset of a collective responsibility. This is ridiculous. We in this together. So when you like throw litter on the ground, we in this together. Throwing litter on the ground. Hold on. So for you, the litter, oh, it's out of my pocket.
SPEAKER_01But for somebody else, it's like, yo, my hood dirty. Throwing litter on the ground is understandable. I understand that. And I'm talking about your your grievance with throwing litter on the ground. But preserving water in a hotel, you're basically saying, hey, your shower shouldn't be but so many minutes. Because it only takes you five minutes to clean. Why are you gonna sit in the shower and enjoy the steam and allow yourself to relax and do all of that? That must be how I was raised, dog. I'm glad now we're getting to the bottom of it.
SPEAKER_02That must be how I was raised. Now we're getting to the bottom of it. When you're raised in scarcity, okay. When you're raised in like, you know, this idea of like knowing that like it ain't uh everything is in promise.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and like the hot water may run out.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it does. It did. Yeah. Like I grew up in situations where it did. So you know what? That might be that.
SPEAKER_01I'm I'm glad that we we got it to a place that's tight, huh?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that might be that.
SPEAKER_01Alright, so no more complaining about water. No more complaining to me about you know taking long showers and keeping the water running out of hotel. Just don't let it no more, dog. I I let it. I got you, Dale. Don't dab me up. So for me, man, um I mean I'm kind of so I I really don't take many uh fella trips. You know what I'm saying? My fella trips just be kind of with you. I don't really be taking trips with uh with nobody else like that. And I think the reason why is because I'm not into what they're into. You know what I'm saying? Like I know people who go on fella trips and you know they trying to drink each other under the table. You know what I'm saying? I never understood that. I've I've never in my life felt like, you know, dog, when somebody used to say, you know, I'll drink you under the tape, I'd be like, Yeah, have at it. You know what I'm saying? Or somebody wanna smoke you out, you know? Like none of that, none of that. I never wanted to do any of that. So I don't choose to go with people who who who that like that's their main objective. Yeah, no, I get it. I get it. Yeah, because it's not it's not fun to me. Yeah, and then for real, for real, sometimes I end up doing certain things, like I end up drinking or whatever, and then I'll regret it.
SPEAKER_02You know, it's like oh okay, yeah, yeah, it's different for me.
SPEAKER_01I you know, I because yeah, it's different for me. Yeah, because you never done it before. Yeah, which is dope, you know what I'm saying? But I've done it before, so um and I've had times when I've had fun drinking and had fun smoking. Yeah. Um, the first time I ever smoked, it was extremely like fun. It was hysterical, laughing all night, you know what I'm saying? Wanted to chase that. That's nice.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I I didn't mean to say that. Yes, you did say it though. I was more so I didn't mean that. I was thinking about like you um enjoying yourself. So I'm being hysterical. Like for me though, like my travels, like I do an international trip with my man Kato and my man T, and we've we traveled to another um international country. Yeah. We like experience. So we like, and so that a fella's trip, like I could never take a girl on the trips that we go, like I'm talking about dog backpack, yeah, moving through. We only got one, the only time, the only plan that we really have is the first night hotel we're gonna stay in, and then we just figure it out as we going along. So you can't, that's like rugged, is a little, you know what I'm saying, it's like different than vacation, you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_01So so you know, the I think we need to define something though. So the fellas trip and then the family trip, but I think the trip that really neck and neck is the fellas trip. Oh, you talking about you and your wife. If I go with me and my wife, I'm it's just I'm really chill mode. Oh, yeah. If I go with my whole family, you know what I'm saying? I'm taking, you know, the daughters, yeah, then that's when I feel like I'm working.
SPEAKER_02But you don't feel like you have to protect in another country? Um, yeah, I mean, I'm but that I'm oh I see what you're saying.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I guess so. I guess so.
SPEAKER_02A lot of times we wear as many, we wear these uh these titles and it becomes part of our identity, and we don't even know what's happening. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And we don't, it's not talked about enough. I think that there's a there's a culture around um this idea of like women taking care of the house and taking care of quote unquote men and doing all these other things. But I think if you are like, you know, research shows that men are black fathers are the most active fathers, yes, um out of any demographic and any demographic. Yeah, and I don't think it stops there, yeah. You know, I think men who are there in the home are most husbands, yeah. Because I think for us, we are very I don't know if we're very, but we have to be reflective about the experiences because we actually care about our woman in our community, yeah. And I think that there's a lot of um demographics who don't yeah, yeah. Best vacation. Oh best vacation was Egypt. Best vacation ever was Egypt. Egypt is like Egypt is probably my one of my favorite places in the world. Like seeing the pyramids, uh you know, it's history, uh raised the whole tech meter, yeah. But like seeing the pyramids, yeah, and uh and all of the valley of the kings, like to read it, have read it in books and then go and it's still there, yeah, and you go and like see it, and like you know, you've seen a lot of buildings before, of course. You've seen some like, oh, these structures, these maps, yo, the pyramids, it is nothing like it. It is like a bruh. I can't, you can't even explain it's something you have to see. I feel like every black person should see it, and you're not even lying, try to make the Egyptians white, yeah, right? Try to make yeah, yeah. We are on the walls, yeah. It is in screw, we are inscribed on the walls. You can tell it's us, it's like written all through the walls. It's crazy. The Red Sea, some of the most clearest, beautiful water I've ever seen in my life is actually clear than the Caribbean, bro.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, dog. So I want to be, you know, you're well traveled. Um the furthest I've been is Jamaica. Okay, you know what I'm saying? Um, and that's probably been my best vacations, is actually going to Jamaica. Which one? Um I went, me and my wife went, and it was when I had she did a vial renewal, like year five or something like that. A surprise vial renewal. And we stayed at this one resort, but then we went to this other resort called Excellence.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god. Oh, I thought you were talking about I thought you were gonna talk about um uh when we went to Jamaica on a cycling trip.
SPEAKER_01Oh, hell no. That wasn't no vacation, that was torture, yeah. That was that was punishment, that was brutal. That was not a vacation. I never want to do that again.
SPEAKER_02Never shout out, shout out to Cycle Jamaica.
SPEAKER_01Shout out to Cycle Jamaica, but no, you won't be seeing me anytime soon, Cycle Jamaica. I may come at some point once I feel like I've you know I've trained for a season. I feel like Cycle Jamaica have been asking for you and me to come, like come back. Psycho Jamaica wants me to just embarrass myself again. I'm not doing it again until I get comfortable on the bike. I you I don't believe, young, that was the you were the worst friend in that moment. The worst friend. You was the worst friend. We got through it together. Yeah, we did. I was not a worst friend, yeah. You were the worst friend in that moment because you convinced me to go on a cycling trip and I haven't cycled in over a year. You made me rent a bike. I told you to practice. You told me to practice, but you know, I wasn't practicing, so you know I should have backed out. You forced me to go. I went and then you lied to me every morning. Every morning you lied to me, yo. Every morning, I said, yo, how long is this ride? Oh man, it ain't nothing, man. It's joint about 20 rides, 20 miles, 40. 40 first day, second day, yo, come on, yo. My legs is tired, Joe. Please tell me that we not. Please tell me that we're not doing this again. You was like, we not doing 40. Nah, dog, it's just gonna be, I'm telling you, it's just it's gonna be 40, but it's gonna be, you know, yeah, it's gonna be something light, you know. I'm saying it's gonna be a heavy 40, you know. What? That joint was crucial. I got little Jamaican kids pushing me up hills. Young, I'm done. I'm done. I'm done. Oh man, we gotta go back though, man. Yeah, we gotta go back. Psycho Jamaica was lit. Good luck, man. Good luck, good luck. We'll find out about that. Um, what you watching, though? What you watching on? Young.
SPEAKER_02I don't even be watching TV like what you binging? Young. I binge that joint in like the one day young. His and hers. Oh yeah. Young. That joint. That joint was like that.
SPEAKER_01So what made you what made you watch it?
SPEAKER_02Uh I seen it on social media. Yeah, everybody was talking about it. Yeah, I seen it on social media, and I was like, all right, let me, you know what I'm saying? Once I see something like continuously on social media, I was like, all right, let me just it must be some truth to it. Yeah, let me see what it's like. You know what I mean? And I normally go to sleep. As soon as I turn on TV, I'm asleep. Yeah. Like I sat and it was it was nighttime and I stayed up and watched the whole joint. That joint was crucial. Had me on the edge of my seat, yeah.
SPEAKER_01That joint was light day, huh?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, do we do spoilers or not? Um I feel like it's been out long enough.
SPEAKER_01Nah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, if you haven't seen it yet, don't watch it right now.
SPEAKER_01Question though, question.
SPEAKER_02Did you figure it out before? Yeah, yes and no. I knew something was up with the mom. I knew something was up.
SPEAKER_01You're not supposed to say that. I just said if you Yeah, but you spoiling it by just saying that. But I said you didn't even have to say the characters.
SPEAKER_02I'm sorry. I never done this before. Um, yeah. Um uh the the mom the yeah. I knew something was going on. Yeah, okay. You could just tell. Yeah, I knew something was going on.
SPEAKER_01Alright. Um I got a hypothetical for you, John. Okay. If you could get a hundred thousand dollars, a hundred thousand dollars every day that you don't shower, how many days can you go? Let me start here. I'm let me start here.
SPEAKER_02You about to say without without giving any other like anything else, without even asking any questions about anything else. I'm getting a million tops. You're getting a million dollars. I'm getting a million off the minimum. So 10 days tops. Instant, right? Then we're gonna have to start having a conversation. Because what I'm gonna do is I'm I'm just gonna be in the house. But once you shower, I it is is it's done. You can't get any more. No, no, no. So now I'm about to ask you some clarifying questions. Okay. Like, because right now I'm already a million dollars. I ain't gonna actually. You're a million dollar man. So I don't have to shower, but I can bird bath.
SPEAKER_01No. No, no form of clean. Cleaning. No form of cleaning.
SPEAKER_0210 days, 20 days, 15 days. I don't think I could go pet. Oh, because you was thinking. I'm by myself though.
SPEAKER_01I mean I I feel like you you can create whatever.
SPEAKER_02I so if I'm by myself, I'm going more days. If I'm by myself, I probably could do, nah, you're gonna start, nah, I can't. I don't know. What? I'm cuz man, you gonna start you dirty, young? You gonna start itching? That's true. You dirty, and you're gonna smell yourself. That's true. That's dirty. That's true. But I'm getting a million.
SPEAKER_01Uh-huh. I'll be honest. I think I'm getting three.
SPEAKER_02You gonna go 30 days?
SPEAKER_01I think so. It'll be tough.
SPEAKER_02That's because you went to Shannon, though.
SPEAKER_01Ah, they taught me. They told me well, yes, you did, yeah. Yes, you did. You wanted to say that, yeah. Yo, you wanted to say that, yeah. You're a bad before. That's it's in you, young. If you were it rubbed off on you, no, what I'm saying is I would go 30 days. I think I would try to go 30 days and I would explain to my wife. You know what I'm saying? Like, look, this is what it is. I'm gonna go get a hotel room. You know what I'm saying? And I'm gonna I'm just gonna stay there for 30 days.
unknownNah.
SPEAKER_01And I'm gonna plan out what I'm gonna do with the 3 million that whole time.
SPEAKER_0230 days is crazy. 30 days is crazy. I couldn't do it. I don't know if I could last 30 days.
SPEAKER_01How about how long do you think you can last? I told you a million. I can get 30 minutes. No, you're yo, yo, that's a number. That's a number as far as the money. How how many days do you think you can last though? Like, how many do you think you can go past uh 10 days?
SPEAKER_02I think once I start feeling, if I start itching and smelling myself, I think it's dying. I don't, I think it's dying. I can't I can't be dirty. I got standards and morals, yeah. I went to HBCU. It it matters my morals matter, dog. My standards matter.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was dirty people that went to Morgan, young. Yeah. It's some dirty Morgan people, young. I've seen them.
SPEAKER_02They probably transferred from San Angel.
SPEAKER_01Uh I think I could do 30. I'll try my best.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, 30 days is crazy. It is crazy. It is crazy, but I think I can, you know. But I I I won't I won't fight you on it, because who knows?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you might because you might do 50. You know what I'm saying? Not 50.
SPEAKER_02Wow. Yeah, 50 is wild.
SPEAKER_01But who knows? If that's really a thing, like you know what I'm saying? Who knows what that mine would be?
SPEAKER_02You're right.
SPEAKER_01Um so the climate of the world. I mean, speaking of dirty, you know what I'm saying? Speaking of dirty. Speaking of dirty, yeah, uh, what's up with this this ice, you know what I'm saying? Like, yeah, it's crazy. And you know what was been interesting to me is that like from the videos and stuff that I see, it's a lot of uh Latin, you know what I'm saying? It's a lot of I you know, I always I'm I hope I'm saying it right, Latin Americans. Because I'm normally saying like Mexicans, but you know, I know that there's multiple many different types. But yeah. There we go. It'd be Latin, it's a lot of Latin Americans that's that like you can hear their accent. And that's wild to me. You know what I'm saying? That's wild to me that they are the ones that are trying to get their kin like locked up and sent away. All for some money.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, man, it's a fusion slave act all over again, dog. Fusion slave act 1850 all over again.
SPEAKER_01So what's that? Explain it.
SPEAKER_02It's when they the federal government um deputized uh people and federal agents to capture um quote unquote f uh runaways in the north or people who lived uh who got freedom from um being enslaved. Uh and they wanted to capture them. And they made the northern states um agree to it, and they would pay ten dollars. They would pay five dollars more if the person was sent back to slavery versus if the person wasn't, and there wasn't no due process, they had no due process, they were just capturing people off the street that didn't have quote on, they didn't have papers, and they were sending them back. So it's the same, it's the same train, just renting reports.
SPEAKER_01Was it black people that was doing this too?
SPEAKER_02Nah, it was mainly it was white folk capturing black people, yeah. And if you didn't, if you um were harboring any, you know, freed slaves, then freed and people who were enslaved, um, then you would face a fine and or jail time. And so when we look at what's happening in Minnesota, yeah, and we look at what's happening in folks who are protesting and fighting against ICE and all over the country, you see federal agents fighting against them. You see federal agents killing people in the middle of the street, you see federal agents like um, you know, and what it is is this opportunity that there's a fear that uh, you know, there's always a fear of the people of the excellent, right? In in this country. It's always been that. And so when people get too excellent, and when we start doing too well, you gotta figure out how to stamp it down. And so that's uh ultimately what's happening, right? Like we are uh, you know, growing, developing. You think black women are some of the most graduated, um, some of the most educated, one of the most educated demographics, right? You see um people of color grabbing all of these political uh roles, right, and being able to influence government in a particular way. And so is them what you see is them trying to take the country back, quote unquote, because they're feeling like that the grip was getting loose. Um but you know, uh it's a it's it's a it's an ill play because it's happening because I don't think people have been listening to black folk. Yeah, yeah, we always know. We are the we are the standard.
SPEAKER_01We can smell it. We can well, yeah, we can smell it, but we're the canine, the canine of bullshit. Okay, I take that.
SPEAKER_02I take that.
SPEAKER_01We the canine of bullshit. Yeah, yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. You smell that? Everybody be, you know, I smell it with y'all, yeah. Forget about it.
SPEAKER_02Cause you're right, y'all. We always knew and we always made this country live its creed.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And we've always been that way, and then we always feel like we always fighting folks to be like, hey, listen to us. But now we fed up.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but but okay, so going into that, now we fed up, and we sitting back and we like we told y'all.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Do you think that that is the right move? For now. Ah, that's a that was a great answer. For now.
SPEAKER_02The thing is to show them. It's the show'em. Yeah, no, hold on. What we always should listen to, and I'm not, and I'm just trying to be as real as I can. Who we should always listen to a black woman. They always know what's going on. Yeah, they do. You gotta fight, like, even in the civil rights movement, right? Black women didn't get their just due, right? Uh like um they were 90%, a large percentage of the fight, but oh, we always celebrate these men that were kind of put out on the front. Black women know what's going on, dog. And so if they saying we chillin', then we chilling. But when when they're ready to when they're ready to go back, we're going back. We just gotta follow their lead. You know what I'm saying? Huh. Gotta follow their lead.
SPEAKER_01All right, so that brings me to another point, though. Not with this. Have you seen the Cam Newton thing?
SPEAKER_02Yes, yeah. Which hold on. Hold on. Cam Newton is a lot of what clip. I don't know what clip you're talking about. Watch this, watch this right here.
SPEAKER_00Uh have any platonic relationships in your life with the woman? Yeah, no. Is that a is that a chance? No women platonically. Is it is it's self-control? Come on, that's it. Come on, it may be self-control. Come back to that. If I'm around a woman long enough, I'm going to find something good in her that attracts me. Okay. And when you're attractive, what then happens? When you're attractive, what then happens? Sex.
SPEAKER_01Oh, god damn Gail.
SPEAKER_02That man might honest, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Yes.
SPEAKER_02That's funny.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. What you think about that? Dog, I always feel this way. Um yeah, I I think the downfall for a lot of men is the fact that they can't troll control that that part of their life. That they have no sexual discipline. Um and so like even with that, I feel like there's just no sexual discipline. This dude can do everything in the world. Like this man ma can make himself run eight, nine miles a day. He can do 225 40 times. You know what I'm saying? He put all of this work in to be the great Cam Newton. That takes an extreme amount of discipline. An extreme amount of discipline. And this particular thing, it doesn't even seem like he uh gives any effort towards it. It sounds like it doesn't. Now, that's of course I'm just assuming. Yeah. Um and it sounds like he doesn't want to. That's what it is. It sounds like he doesn't even want to. You know what I'm saying? I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I disagree. Okay. I think that he is he is saying what discipline looks like for him in that particular air arena. And so for him, though he's missing out on, you know, I think that he can be missing out on genuine relationships or partnerships with like with women, because women are powerful. I think for him, he's like, look, I don't I'm gonna just go ahead and stay away from that. If I'm addicted to alcohol and I'm going into a liquor store every day and be like, oh, I'm not drinking liquor.
SPEAKER_01No, like it seemed like But that but but you if you're addicted to alcohol, you shouldn't go into a liquor store every day. But if you go over your family's house and someone pours out a beer, you shouldn't run out the house. Like I think that that's the scenario. It's not the liquor store. He's saying that he can't be around, he can't have a relationship with pretty women. Period. Not even in his business.
SPEAKER_02So I don't know if he was saying that anyway. He said it. He said friendship. He said he was talking, he's a friendship. He ain't say nothing about business.
SPEAKER_01I thought he said no one that works with me. Didn't he say something like that?
SPEAKER_02No, I thought I heard him say friendship.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_02Um, and so you know, I think that's a completely different thing. I'm sure that he got women around him doing business and working with him. I think he was talking about friendship. Now, that might be a struggle for him, and so for me, it feels like, you know, this idea that like he can't make a decision about now he is his own person, right? And if that works for you, that works for you. But if that is the way that you need to control yourself, but other people can go into an arena and say, I'm good. I I this is this is my limit, right? I might go into a place and I don't drink. And then when I don't drink, I'm I'm chill and I can control myself. There's other people who might, you know, I could do this, but I can't go this far, or I can't do this, or I can't do that. But I think whatever people's decision to be able to control themselves is kind of what what what they're on. And it's I don't I don't think that it's a lack of discipline. I think the awareness is first, and then there's discipline. And I think that he's aware of maybe the mistakes he's made or things he's done, and he's like, okay, this is what I'm gonna do to maintain discipline in that arena. That's what I heard it saying. Yeah, um, and I think the judgment, while you're still figuring it out, I think the judgment comes around him having this discussion around like, oh, I can't beat their friends, I can't do this, I can't do that. Yeah, yeah. But I think that's better than I think him him saying that is better than him being aware and then like, oh, I'm just gonna take advantage. Or not even like I know I can because he's Cam Newton, so I'm sure he can do all of these things that he would desires to do, take advantage of all these other things, but I think he's pulling back. Uh okay. I mean, I guess you know, I And I don't agree with that dude most a lot.
SPEAKER_01So Yeah, I I mean Okay, so um people I I've heard this before. The the the the notion that men and women can't have platonic relationships, like I disagree with that. Yeah, I mean I I really think like that's what he was standing on. Yeah. I I don't think it was just about him. He was kind of you know expressing that platonic relationships can't happen. I don't play like that, like you know, everybody who's doing that has some kind of sexual interest into it with anyone that they have a platonic. Yeah, but again, I didn't hear him say that. He didn't say that, you know what I'm saying? But there was undertones there.
SPEAKER_02Well, I just heard him talking about his experience, but I disagree with the fact that men and women can't have platonic relationships, like completely disagree with that. I got you, like I got homies, yeah, homies, you know what I'm saying? And I was talking to one of my homies, uh, shout out to Zia. I was talking to her cool um the other day, and I was like, yo, I like as a 40-something-year-old man, like I need like friendship with a woman. Yeah, you need friendship. I agree, you know what I mean? They provide a different perspective, they they give you a lot of different um advice, and you're able to speak to them in ways that you can't necessarily speak to your homies. So I'm I'm a huge advocate. Shout out to CP too.
SPEAKER_01Like, yeah, you're like the Philly trip, the conversations, uh Philly trips.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, some of the homies, you know what I'm saying? And I like so I I definitely think that it's um that it's possible, yeah. Like 100%, like 100%, but it's all about like um what your intentions are, you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I feel you, I feel you. Well, I don't got nothing else on that. Um, I I I feel like I'm gonna drill you more, but ooh, I feel like never mind. I'm right, all right. This is the end of the podcast. Yeah, let's end this.
SPEAKER_02Play the music.
