This week on Slasher Bash, Maddi and Ben review Army of Darkness and ask them selves if this is better than its predecessor.

SPEAKER_03

Let's do this, bitch. What's up, everyone? Welcome to Slasher Bash, the podcast, the podcast for two friends, chat all things horror. I'm your host, Madison, here with my co-host Benjamin.

SPEAKER_01

Hello, everybody.

SPEAKER_03

And we're here to talk about Evil Dead 2. No. No Army of Darkness. Don't click away. We already heard that one. This is a new one. We are here to talk about Army of Darkness. Army of Darkness, yes. Working title, Medieval Dead. A fun fact I just learned.

SPEAKER_01

Where'd you learn that?

SPEAKER_03

Um I just was a guest on uh Creepy and Geeky, the podcast with Robert, their uh their main host. And he was the one who told me Medieval Dead had been the working title for this, and I was like, oh, I love that. But I told Ben that, and he was like, What? You said you didn't like the name. But what was that sound you just made? Oh, that was me doing a raspberry.

SPEAKER_01

I can't tell. I think the Google Hangouts is like not doing it right because the first time it sounded like a robot voice. Is it like muffling me out? Now I can't hear you at all. Now it's completely just silent.

SPEAKER_03

Really? You can't hear me talking right now?

SPEAKER_01

No, I can hear you. I just can't hear whatever sound you're making.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I'm not making any sounds now.

SPEAKER_01

You only did it once? Yeah, I'm not hearing that. Whatever you're doing.

SPEAKER_03

Well, I can see my audio is recording it, so have fun editing that.

SPEAKER_01

That's so funny. What did you guys talk about? Uh Evil Dead 2? Or everything?

SPEAKER_03

We he wanted somebody to discuss Evil Dead 2, and I was like, hey, I'd love to do this with you, but full transparency, I'm doing this as a cheat because we're covering Evil Dead 2 the same week. So if you don't mind that I'm double dipping my toes, um, yeah, I'd love to come on and chat. And it was fun.

SPEAKER_01

Can you double dip toes?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I I dipped in our pod, I dipped in his.

SPEAKER_01

Just with your toes?

SPEAKER_03

Just with toes. But it was fun because I had recorded ours first, so I had some some better fun facts to bring to the table that I didn't have prior to our recording.

SPEAKER_01

That's great. Did you uh did you have a different appreciation for Evil Dead 2 when you talked to him?

SPEAKER_03

I mean, no, because like, well, so like Evil Dead, I got like the feeling I got was that Evil Dead to him is like what Scream is to us. Like they're the ones that he re-watches and he like tries to see them in the theaters every year on like anniversary releases, and whenever there's like special edition drops, he goes and gets like the new collector's DVDs and stuff like that. But it's funny, we were talking about how like he was like Army of Darkness is my favorite. I feel like everybody likes Evil Dead 2 the most. And I was like, actually, I did a poll. Army of Darkness was like all of our voters' favorites, um, and Evil Dead 2 was second, but we were talking about how funny it is that like you know, with Scream being like our starting franchise, like everybody's like, you can never top the original. Where Evil Dead, everybody loves the first one, but not very many people are like, that's my favorite. Like he loves all the newer ones that have come out. Oh, really? Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I wonder if you listened to our verses episode where we kind of trashed that remake, the first one.

SPEAKER_03

I doubt it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Oh, that's cool. Well, shout out to you, Robert, host of what was the what's the fucking geeky. Creepy and geeky.

SPEAKER_03

Thanks for having me on, Robert.

SPEAKER_01

Um, did you guys talk about Army of Darkness at all?

SPEAKER_03

It did come up a little bit. We like really did not do a good job of staying on track with just the evil dead 2 conversation. I know.

SPEAKER_01

Isn't that cool?

SPEAKER_03

We didn't talk about Army of Darkness much, though.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Well, before we talk about Army of Darkness, this is our 25th episode.

SPEAKER_03

Ooh.

SPEAKER_01

Did you know that?

SPEAKER_03

I did not. I feel like that's a milestone.

SPEAKER_01

It is a milestone. I got a beer here.

SPEAKER_03

Oh shit.

SPEAKER_01

I better go grab one. Well, go get one. I'll wait till crack it open. Okay, wait, let me go grab one. I'll be right back. Don't get distracted on the way.

unknown

Okay, I'll be right back.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

I do have to go down to the basement and back to the top, so it'll just take a second.

SPEAKER_01

That's not this sounds like a horror movie. You made it back alive.

SPEAKER_03

I did, but I did get stopped. My aunt Janice was like, honey, can you help me get the big Texas cookbook now?

SPEAKER_00

Did you? Or did you go like, no?

SPEAKER_03

I made Chloe do it. I was like, I'm in a recording, gotta go.

SPEAKER_01

You need a little red light for the outside of your door.

SPEAKER_03

For real.

SPEAKER_01

I wonder how much noise of your of your party I'm going to hear.

SPEAKER_03

I think right now, um I'm in the most quiet space I could be. I think we'll be okay.

SPEAKER_01

We have the same sort of background. We got like wooden panels on the walls.

SPEAKER_03

Yep, we got our cabin backgrounds. We're gonna have the sweat from doing those stairs.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, well. Oh, you're on the second floor. No, you went to the basement. Yeah. Oh shit, how many floors you got?

SPEAKER_02

Three?

SPEAKER_01

Alright, I'm cracking mine open.

SPEAKER_02

Alright, you crack mine too.

SPEAKER_03

I got a Coors Light.

SPEAKER_01

I am still light. Our sponsors. Just kidding. They're not.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. We're brought to you. This episode of Slasher Bash is not brought to you by Coors Light, but it could be.

SPEAKER_01

Are you drinking Coors because you're from Denver?

SPEAKER_03

Tap the Rockies, baby.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know if that's a yes.

SPEAKER_03

Uh yes. Well, full transparency. I've started working with a nutritionist because my wife won't let me go on a Zampic. She told me I have to work for it and not be lazy. So um my food coach is more working right now, just bringing awareness to things. So she made me swap out.

SPEAKER_01

You're not supposed to be drinking beer?

SPEAKER_03

No, I can drink beer. She's not making me cut beer, but she made me switch from IPAs to Coors Light. And just the number of calories saved there alone is like shocking. Especially when you're like on vacation and you're having like several beers a day.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I mean, IPAs are just like sugar. They're just sugar bombs.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, just like 200 and like these ones I was drinking.

SPEAKER_01

They're disgusting. Who even likes them? I love them. They're so gross. I don't like beer beer juice. I don't like them.

SPEAKER_03

I found this one recently that was so good, and I was like just drinking them. And then I found out it was 280 calories a day, and I was having like four, and I was like, my gosh.

SPEAKER_01

That's insane. I don't even know how much the Amstel light here. It's like uh 95. Wow. Still more than I would, yeah. Oh, it says right on the it says right on the front.

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah. 95. I'm gonna have to when I'm like uh plateauing, I'll have to switch from Coors Light to Michelob Ultra.

SPEAKER_01

Oh anyway, as I like to transition.

SPEAKER_02

Army of Duncan.

SPEAKER_01

Happy 25th episode.

SPEAKER_02

Happy 25th.

SPEAKER_01

Hell yeah. 25 weeks straight. I don't think we missed a single week, did we? Or maybe one.

SPEAKER_03

We no, we didn't miss a week. We or did we with Scream? No, we just started releasing late, and so we had to double double up once and do two episodes in one week.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

And then another week we released one episode on Thursday instead of Wednesday. But that's it. We haven't missed a week.

SPEAKER_01

I feel like we might I there was a point yesterday where I was like, maybe we'll skip this week.

SPEAKER_03

Chloe was trying to get me to, and I was like, I can't do it. If you start skipping weeks, then that's when everything goes to shit.

SPEAKER_01

But there will be a point, I feel like, when we skip a week. For sure. You can't, you know what I mean? No one's got perfect attendance.

unknown

No.

SPEAKER_01

Anyway, let's talk about Army of Darkness.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Okay, so first thing I want to know is I think we're gonna end up making this sort of not an official versus, but I do think we should ask each one of us which movie we like better, this one or Evil Dead 2.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Umly for the for the engagement.

SPEAKER_02

Fair. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Because like you already did that poll, but if we we actually post like Evil Dead 2 versus Army of Darkness, I think people I know, they seem to be the top two that people like the most.

SPEAKER_03

So I'm very curious.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Um what are your initial thoughts on Army of Darkness and is it anything that you expected?

SPEAKER_03

After saying Evil Dead 2, yes. Um, like particularly like the well, I mean like the weirdness when he splits into a bunch of little mini ashes. Like I was like, what is happening? But then it was like, oh, this is the bit where Sam Raimi has him by himself for a while. Got it. Um Yeah. I did immediately though, first of all, I I really enjoyed it. Like Chloe and I were cracking up.

SPEAKER_01

Oh good. Because it's a type of humor that you could maybe just roll your eyes at and be like, this is dumb. You know what I mean? Like, no, no, it's really easy to do that.

SPEAKER_03

Um I did make a list like of all the references that I noticed, like like the ways that like this movie has influenced other movies. I think I told you immediately after finishing it, I was like, I have to watch Planet Terror because I was like, that movie had to have influenced by that. So I was like, totally. So it was like Planet Terror, uh, Pirates of the Caribbean with the Army of the Dead Skeletons, uh Courtney Cox's Scream 3 haircut.

SPEAKER_01

That one I don't get. Arthur. Did you not see his bangs? Okay, some of these references I don't think were intentional.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, we were dying though, like literally Chloe and I looked at each other and we were like, it's Courtney Cox in Scream 3. He's wearing the Courtney Cox haircut.

SPEAKER_01

So you guys thought it was funny.

SPEAKER_03

We thought it was funny. Um I was it was funny coincidence because literally the day that we watched it earlier that day, I had read that um Bridget Fonda had had a child with Danny Elfman, and I like read that to Chloe, like I guess a while ago. But I was like, whoa, I didn't know Bridget Fonda and Danny Elfman had had a child, and she was like, Who are they? And I had to like explain it to her, and then we like put this movie on, and I was like, no shit, Bridget Fonda. But then we were like cracking up at how to do it in the movie? Yeah, she's like the third casting of Susan or whatever her name is in the beginning.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe I don't know who Bridget Fonda is. Are you mixing her up with Jane Fonda? I was, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, she's Jane Fonda's niece, Peter Fonda's daughter.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, interesting.

SPEAKER_03

Lake Placid.

SPEAKER_01

Interesting. Oh yeah. Yep. Um, also Danny Elfman did one of the themes in this. One of the like not the whole movie. Maybe that's how they met. Because they had a kennel. When they were all marching, all the skeletons and stuff. That's him. That's it. But the rest of it was a different composer.

SPEAKER_03

Just super random timing for me to discover that fact, and then and now it's all coming full circle.

SPEAKER_01

Well, Danny Elfman ends up doing, you know, the Spider-Man. I did not know that. Yeah, they worked together, I think, multiple times after that.

SPEAKER_03

So uh Well, I had to laugh because while we were watching this beginning where they like remake the intro for like the third time to let us know what happened, and the girls recast for the third time, but the car like drops in with him. I was telling her like the fact that you told me that that was like Sam Raimi's first car, and now he slips it into all his movies, and Chloe's like, the girl is interchangeable, recast her every time, but the car, the car stays the same.

SPEAKER_01

That's amazing. That's gonna be the subtitle for this episode.

SPEAKER_03

Recast the girl. The car stays the same.

SPEAKER_01

I love how like Chloe's a character on this podcast, even though she's not actually on it.

SPEAKER_03

I know, she's like 50% of my commentary.

SPEAKER_01

I wrote a bunch of notes overall, but like I don't even remember because I watched this so long ago, what they are referencing. So this will be an interesting episode. I should go through like my rigamo role though. Do it oh, yes, yes.

SPEAKER_04

Give us your fun facts.

SPEAKER_01

I don't really have any fun facts this time. Well, I have a couple. Um, movie Army of Darkness, released in 1992. Actually, it wasn't released in 1992, that was the original day, it was 1992, but it got pushed to 1993, um, which pissed Sam Raimi off. He gone on record saying that he wasted a whole year of his life waiting for this movie to come out. Um budget was 11 million, which they had to like renegotiate a couple times. And I think at one point three of them, including Sam Raimi, pulled their money together to get the rest of the budget for this movie. But he basically had locked in a sequel um because it was in the contract for Evil Dead 2 that if it like made so much money he could make a sequel and since that made a profit. Then he did this movie called Dark Man.

SPEAKER_03

That's interesting because Evil Dead 2 didn't really make that much money. What was it, like a three million budget and pulled in six million?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but it still made a profit. Yeah, you know? Um and Dark Man Dark Man, I think, did pretty well. And then this movie ended up making a $21.5 million dollars, which is double the the budget, which is great. Uh which is surprising too, though, to me. Yeah. You know what I mean? Because I was alive when this came out, but I couldn't tell you ever seen anything about Army of Darkness until I was like 17 and it was way old.

SPEAKER_03

I have heard like references here and there throughout my life. The poster was familiar.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Had no idea what it was that it was an Evil Dead movie um until we started this franchise.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And I love it. I thought it was great, but I'm just like it's it doesn't feel like a horror movie to me. It's funny because it's like, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It's not a horror movie. It's straight up just a comedy at this point.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. And it's like a I was like thinking about, and I don't know if I like elaborated or uh made my point very clearly to Robert when I was on his pod, but I was like talking about how it's interesting that like murder's murder, but like you put it in like murder's murder everybody. But like you put it in like a medieval setting where it's like expected, and it's like you don't feel bad or scared about people getting murdered where it's like you put it in happen in isolation, and then suddenly it's like, oh, it's scary there, but it's just war against witches in medieval times.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe I know what you mean. But I think maybe also.

SPEAKER_03

It's not like we watch war movies and get scared by the murder in them, but we're still seeing the murders. I'd get scared of war, but I don't like it's not like watching a scary movie where I'm afraid like the person I'm watching is about to get shot.

SPEAKER_01

The individual deaths themselves aren't like suspenseful in any like sort of horrific way, but like watching the opening to Save a Private Ryan is like a horrible uh depiction of never seen Saving Private Ryan, and I feel like I need to. Man. Okay, what's another war movie?

SPEAKER_03

Um Dunkirk.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, there's no death in that well, there is death in that one.

SPEAKER_03

I also haven't seen that one. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_01

It's alright, hot take. I don't really like Dunkirk that much.

SPEAKER_03

No, don't people love it? But can you hear sorry? My chair is wicker, and I feel like every time I like move in my seat, it's like mine's the same way.

SPEAKER_01

Can you get it? Okay. Oh, I don't hear each other at all, so maybe we're good. We're sitting on camp gear, basically. Do you guys call it camps up there or do you guys call it cabin?

SPEAKER_03

Cabins.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Technically the one we're in we call the lodge because it's a little bit bigger than the other cabins.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so you liked it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it was great. But it definitely I nailed it when I said it was like Monty Python. Like I felt like I was watching a Monty Python movie. Or like um, I don't know, this might be a really obscure reference, but the people who made Napoleon Dynamite, like one of their follow-up films with Gentleman Broncos, where Jermaine from Flight of the Concords is a uh sci-fi writer. And like all of his like artwork of his sci-fi books, like like the cyborg harpies and stuff, like all his like monster characters in his sci-fi books reminded me of this movie.

SPEAKER_01

The movie has a great look to it overall. Yeah. Do you do you feel like it still exists in the evil dead world?

SPEAKER_03

No, but I think that's the point. I think the point was to take Ash out of the Evil Dead world and put him in a new world.

SPEAKER_01

See, I think it does, though. I don't know. Like I at least the the designs of all the possessed people, like right off the bat, they throw him in this.

SPEAKER_03

That witch in the pit and the pit shooting, spraying that blood, which another like moment of I was like, oh, ready or not too.

SPEAKER_01

Um yeah, I it's I don't remember the first time I watched this movie, but I love this movie. Um I I always looked at this as just like a horror comedy. Like it's horror in the sense that aesthetically it's horror and there's like blood and stuff and skeletons fighting, but it's so it's such like even the skeletons like at the end when they're fighting, they have all their one-liners and stuff.

SPEAKER_03

It's like it reminded me of Pirates of the Caribbean when like the skeletons come out of the water and are fighting. Like, and I would not watch that and be like, Pirates of the Caribbean is a horror comedy.

SPEAKER_01

It kind of is, but I mean it's you know, in some ways it is, like it but you know it's funny. I think that we're not gonna get into Pirates of the Caribbean, but like I think part of the criticism of that movie was, oh, I wish it wasn't supernatural. Like I wish there wasn't like a supernatural element to it.

SPEAKER_02

People said that about Pirates of the Caribbean?

SPEAKER_01

Really? I mean, I disagree. I think the supernatural element is cool. I like I like it, I like the way that it comes together at the end. But I think I think there's a lot of people out there that was like, I just wanted to watch a pirate movie. Like, why does it why don't there be skeletons at the end of it? Like walking around. You know?

SPEAKER_02

Interesting.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. That's not my opinion.

SPEAKER_02

Not mine, also. I like I love skeleton comedy.

SPEAKER_01

I think yeah. So this movie, it's been said to be inspired by movies like The Seven Voyages of Sinbad, Jason and the Argonauts, which I've never seen, Conan and the Barbarian.

SPEAKER_03

Really? And in school they showed it to us. I was really into like Jason and the Argonauts? I was super into Greek mythology and Roman mythology, and so I um took like a literature class specifically on it, and because we were like pretty young, maybe it was middle school, they still like did like movies and stuff to help us like try to understand like the Odyssey and the shit we were reading.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's cool. I mean, I looked up clips from it after reading that to see like what the movie, and I was like, Yeah, this is I'm gonna watch this movie.

SPEAKER_03

But like there's a scene with Medusa in there, isn't it? Like a good scene with him fighting Medusa.

SPEAKER_01

You might be thinking of Clash of the Titans, maybe.

SPEAKER_03

But I know I've seen both in that clo in that class.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, also Three Stooges, a big like inspiration, but that was like the same with the second movie, too. Yeah, um, to me, you can tell, like, at this point, like Sam Raimi has money to just like do whatever the fuck he wants, and he's gonna be as silly as possible. He like tortured Bruce Campbell in the making of this movie, too. Like he he hold the choreographer first for the fight scenes to make it as difficult as possible for Bruce Campbell just to torture him.

SPEAKER_03

That's hilarious.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and uh like he would come up with a lot of the lines on the spot. So there was one line where he like he tells the girl, like, give me some sugar baby.

SPEAKER_03

Oh my god, I was dying at that.

SPEAKER_01

That was like that's the Bruce Campbell was like, that's the worst line I've ever heard. He's like, You have to say it. And so he says it.

SPEAKER_03

Um so bad. That's like one of Chloe's other points. She was just like, it's just hilarious how they like try to like really show the juxtaposition of language between like the medieval times and his like modern time, but like totally play up the modern like one-liners so much, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And and honestly, like Bruce Campbell like pulls it off in such a way where he's just like, it is funny, it's just funny to hear him say these dumbass lines constantly. And my favorite line in the whole movie is at the end when he's like, he's like, baby, you got real ugly.

SPEAKER_00

It's just when she's like, You found me beautiful once.

SPEAKER_01

So funny. Oh my god. Um, so yeah, I don't know. Like, this is weird. Like, we both obviously we're glazing this movie, we both like because it's it's so much fun. I think the special infects in this movie, while they feel dated, it feels dated in a way like like this Jason and the Aeronauts or Argonauts movie, where it's like you want to, even though you know it's fake and stop motion half the time, or the scene where all the little ashes are torturing them, is like it's still fun to watch that scene because it's like practical effects always live up in a way like that where CGI doesn't.

SPEAKER_03

Like, if you go watch an old CGI film, you're just like this looks like garbage. But practical effects, you don't expect to look real. You just think it's fun and cool to watch how they pulled things off at a different time before there was like as much technology.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and you like because you know it's old movie, so it's not like you're expecting it to look real. I mean, you can still even watch Jaws and be like that shark looks fake. You know what I mean? Like, but you don't care.

SPEAKER_02

I don't think that shark looks fake.

SPEAKER_01

You don't think it looks fake?

SPEAKER_02

No, do you? I think it looks terrifying.

SPEAKER_03

I think the universal robots look terrifying too.

SPEAKER_01

The universal robots?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, the shark robots on the universal robots. Oh yeah, I agree.

SPEAKER_01

They took that right away, I think. Um yeah. So I I I guess let's just talk about scenes that we lie. Do you have like a specific scene? Because again, this is like like Evil Dead 2. I feel like it's just like a bunch of individual funny moments and cool scenes put together into like a cohesive story, sort of. Yeah. And the movie is so short, like he packs so much in.

SPEAKER_03

I appreciate like, I mean, it's a even though it's a very different movie from two, I appreciate that he very clearly has a formula that works for him where it's like dropped into this environment where all this crazy shit's happening around. Now uh Bruce Campbell's gonna have like a like 25 minute like period of him just like up against like himself or his mind or whatever. Now we're gonna have a big like he's got his structure and he followed the exact same structure, even though it's like a totally different. movie.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, the w watching it this time, like for the first time, it really stood out to me like how much of a how much it does follow the beats of the second of Evil Did 2. Mm-hmm. It's so hard to so confusing to say because it's like the first movie sort of, but it's not, you know what I mean? Um and like I noticed the exact same thing where I was like, okay, he's on his own now and now he's like having the scene where he's like fighting himself right. Like instead of his hand, it's like his actual self and like all this cool stuff. And then like like all of the different like you know when he finds the book and it's on those three things like I'm it's so silly because it's like why doesn't anyone just come up here and just take the book like yeah but every time he opens the book something weird happens right yeah it's like ugh book. Yeah and then he can't remember the words which is hilarious because like I I want to show this scene to my dad because I'm I'm staying with my parents right now for summer and my dad can't always remember the name of songs when he asked Siri for the song that he wants to play so you're like hey Siri play and then it always plays the song he's looking for somehow. That's so funny. Which is hilarious. Exactly what happens in this movie.

SPEAKER_03

Chat GPT did that for me yesterday I was like I am trying to figure out a song I don't know the words to it at all but it kind of sounds like the darkness but I know it's not the darkness and it's a more recent hit and it's like really high like what like I just kind of give like the worst description ever and it was like Greta Van Fleet light my love and I was like holy shit that's it that's scary actually. Yeah. AI knows your mind what'd you say?

SPEAKER_01

AI Knows your mind it does that's why I stopped using it um I just have random notes here like pit scene. I love this pit scene. Well I love it like one of my favorites scenes in the movie.

SPEAKER_03

It's great. And is it our is it um the redhead who he says it to or Arthur when he's like getting someone's title and he's like well hello Mr.

SPEAKER_01

Fancy Pants I also love when they like dragging him in and he's like in the front in the chains and everyone's like throwing rocks at him and beating him up and coming up and just like punching him like he didn't do anything.

SPEAKER_03

He just like shows up he's just getting his ass beat and no one else is in the line that voiceover though with that whole story was like my name is Ash and I'm a slave and then I was like oh my god we're gonna have VO for this whole movie but it was literally like two seconds in the beginning and that was it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah just the well there's a some at the end he goes because he's telling the story right in the supermarket or whatever. Yeah which I love that scene too I love how the intro it sort of like gives you like so much more backstory on Ash where like it's like now we know like what he does for a living. He's working at the store or whatever.

SPEAKER_03

It's so funny um I was I did write um watching the way like he puts together like his different like he's like working on the car and like turning the car into something and like working on his chainsaw and stuff. And I was like okay now I get having seen a cup like two and this one how in that remake the kid hooking up the battery to the adrenaline actually was like a callback to these films because watching that without that context it's like what the fuck is this?

SPEAKER_01

Where with this context now it's like okay that's like a total callback to Ash and like his like there's always like I feel like there's a there's like a whole genre of movies where someone accidentally gets sent back in time and has to like create modern day technology with like steam and somehow can do it. Yeah. And it's like makes no sense at all.

SPEAKER_03

It was fucking hilarious when it like shows his like chemistry book that he's like brought back with him and Chloe's like chemistry 101 how to make an explosive at home but like watching this one though I was just like Sam Raimi is such a nerd in like the best way possible.

SPEAKER_01

Do you have a uh a what's your impression of Sam Raimi now?

SPEAKER_03

Like do you have some more of a like now I totally think I get clutch stick I actually watching this when I was like I wish we had watched Send Help as like the like cap off of watching these like where he started and where he ended because it's interesting even in this one like even though this movie's bonkers and off the rails it feels like you're watching the three in a row you're watching a new director who's just figuring it out and having fun learning to become a good director. And you can see in this one how how much more seasoned he is and it and it's fun to watch in that way from movie to movie.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah I it's funny I've been on like a Sam Raimi kick. So I've watched since since we've watched this I've watched The Quick and the Dead too which I had never seen before I loved that movie and I didn't know that was him. Yeah I didn't know that was him either so I I this is the first I didn't even know Russell Crowe was in that movie. But this is the first time I watched that movie I thought it was a lot of fun and knowing it was Sam Raimi like all of his camera movements and that you know really stood out to me. And I also watched Multiverse of Madness again I don't think I'm in the minority but I I always really liked that movie and but uh again like watching sort of like his POV shots that he's always throwing in there like those quick zooms and like all the stuff like it's all in that movie too but it's so much smoother that you don't necessarily notice it as as much right he's like just mastered being able to blend it a little bit better and yeah so you're not distracted by it it like emphasizes it but you're not really no unless you're really looking and then it's like oh yeah that is Sam Raimi doing that. The same old shit that he always does. Yeah he's gonna say that in a positive way yeah um I it's funny like I was looking at his his IMDB there's a couple I haven't seen that he's done with like including like For Love of the Game which I never saw um he did that movie too yeah he's his yeah yeah he does like like so many different kinds of movies obviously he's known for horror but like I mean even Spider-Man it's like that's all these movies stand out in such a way he also did a simple plan I don't know if you ever saw that one simple plans with um is with um Bill Bill Paxton and Billy Bob Thornton and they find like a bunch of money in the woods or something and it's it's like a cautionary tale and like I don't want to ruin it but it's pretty good.

SPEAKER_03

You know what's funny too is like like I feel like with like a simple plan and like some of them you can kind of see an influence between him and the Cohen brothers and their later work.

SPEAKER_01

Yes a hundred percent like that it's so funny that you say that because like I was thinking that when I was watching the quick and the dead even even though that's sort of a sort of a batch of crazy movie too um there is like a weird overlap with Conan brothers like I wonder what their friendship is like now like are they hanging out still like what do they all still live together with Kathy Bates and Holly Hunter that'd be amazing. I want to live in that house I'd be like tell me all your stories I could just sit here and talk about individual moments but like I is that interesting content like it can be first of all okay I remember vividly being in Planet Hollywood and they used to show clips from movies on this big giant screens this is like a long ass time ago there obviously there's not like Planet Hollywood anymore. For those that don't know that's a like a restaurant a movie themed restaurant like Hardware Captain didn't Arnold Schwarzenegger own it him and Sylvester Stallone and uh Bruce Willis and a bunch of people like came together. I don't know if they actually owned it or if they like partially owned it and like promoted it. I don't know.

SPEAKER_04

Gotcha.

SPEAKER_01

But you can go there and see like props from movies like thing I don't know if they were real or not and they would show like clips on on these giant screens and one of the clips they showed was like that scene in the where he ends up at the windmill and like all his little pieces come out of him and he's like trying to eat them and like they're throwing he's throwing the fork at you know where they do the shot again right they do I wrote that down that it's the same as the other shot the fork shot. Exactly honestly he does that shot in in multi multiverse of madness too um he's always doing that fucking shot.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah he's got his he's got his shots that he loves that he reuses like for sure. Yeah and I never mind use them all the time what do you think of the I think the thing that could um be a deal breaker for people watching this movie who are either like I love it or it's too much for me is that scene of him like being broken down into like smaller versions of himself and then fighting like the little mini versions of him because it feels very um childish almost like um like it reminds me of the movie Darby Ogale and the little people where he's trying to catch the leprechauns. I have no idea what that is oh god I love that movie Sean Connery's in it it's a Disney movie yeah watch it on watch it on St.

SPEAKER_01

Patty's Day okay I will and we'll review it Sean Connery Sean Kahn sings in it there's a banshee we could totally cover this really interesting interesting um I know what you mean I don't know again I've always been someone who's like I don't care how fantastical it is like I like I'm always attract I'm more attracted to stuff like that. Like maybe me and Sam Raimi have like a similar creative mind or something but like I because I remember being a kid and seeing that one clip at Planet Hollywood and thinking like oh this is so cool I can't take my eyes away like the Dutch angle he has when he shows up at the at the windmill right like it it's so fantastic I felt like I was watching this is a fantasy movie this is like Clash of the Titans or something where like they have to go through these mystical trials to get some something right and um only seeing that scene out of context maybe helped because I didn't have like there was no movie surrounding it for me to be like taken out of it or whatever. But I don't know it's just so goofy it feels like you're watching sort of a silent movie like I don't know how to it's like Buster Keaton sort of it's like that is definitely I think that's the most obvious like um three stooges kind of yeah it's like Charlie Chaplin.

SPEAKER_03

It's like I know this is over the top but it's so intentionally like the choreography comes from how creative the over topness is yeah well you'd like it's just funny because it's like you read multiple places like prepping for this that like Three Stooges was a big influence for Evil Dead and I was like I'm sorry what? And then you go in and watch them and you like see it and you're like oh okay like clearly but it's just so funny to be like I am making a movie about an army of dead demonic possessed whatever creatures peoples yeah which is all the many things and I want it to be three stooges like being able to pitch that to somebody and have them go yes we'll pay for it and then pull it off and people go yes we want to watch that and we want more of it.

SPEAKER_01

I know well that's why we need Sam Ramian to come on the show and tell us how he pitched these movies because well how did he pitch these movies? There's no way he pitched this like three this is like three stooges but no with skeletons or whatever.

SPEAKER_03

Do you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_01

Like there's no way I mean I would have like the hardest time being a studio exec having someone say like it's almost like that double mumbo jumbo rule where it's like there's the evil dead but now you say now I want to drop it into medieval times and it's like well what is it it can't be both things at once I have a harder time accepting that and Sam Raimi is dep definitely helping me kind of like break through that barrier where it's like it can be both at once yeah that I think it's so funny that you mentioned this maybe I'll cut this out but like with my writing trio we're doing sort of a mashup of genres thing and and we keep getting in this weird discussion that I I'm very confused by because I'm just like it's just both like where it's like is it 60% horror movie and and 40% this other genre or is it 2030 like what is the what is the major movie and then the sub movie I'm like it's this it's just it's both at the same exact time like I can't like I don't know how and maybe it is from growing up watching movies like this like Army Darkness and stuff or or Big Trouble in Little China or something where it's like it's just it's every genre it's comedy and it's scary so it's like Widows Bay is is popular right now which is a hilarious show but also then you're like kind of creeped out um even today on Netflix I was scrolling through trying to find a movie and under comedy Heart Eyes was listed and I haven't seen Hard Eyes but I know it's a horror movie. It is a horror movie yeah so it's funny but it's like why are we having such a hard time with um like why do we feel the need to be binary when so many movies aren't but I agree I think that's when like I when I show this movie to normies like if I showed this to like people that don't watch movies constantly or whatever or they don't watch anything that's like out of like the drama or just playing comedies like I don't think they would like this movie. In fact I was watch we so I watched Quick and the dead with my parents because I was in that same Remy kick and they were and they were kind of like this is kind of a bad movie.

SPEAKER_03

And I'm like but no it's not like it you gotta it's on purpose like this I need to rewatch it to be like I was like 10 when I saw that movie and I really want to rewatch it because I remember loving it. Um you know if you're expecting tombstone it's not tombstone but it's like yeah exactly have to accept that it's silly and like that these lines are like ridiculous and like some of these shots are wasn't the chick from the Torkelson's in it I don't know what that is.

SPEAKER_02

Seems like a Disney show it's probably not your kind of thing though Chucky Lee Sharon Stone is in it.

SPEAKER_01

Who so Sharon Stone yeah she's the main chick yeah and Leonardo DiCaprio's in it but if you saw when you were 10 I think I think that's the other thing like if you see these movies when you're kids like you accept the absurdity a little bit easier than if you're just like a grown adult. And then nowadays you know movies like the quick and the dead they don't really if you see a Western movie nowadays it's like pretty much always a serious movie. And like you're not gonna see the Quick and the dead come out now with all these like crazy camera angles and stuff like you know where Russell Pro is like grabbing a gun and shooting someone behind him.

SPEAKER_03

What's that I remember when Cowboys vs aliens came out and I was like I have no desire to see that like that sounds like the dumbest fucking movie ever and now I'm that I'm in this like cross genre world I'm like kind of want to see that movie.

SPEAKER_01

That's funny that you had that reaction because with Cowboys and Aliens I remember being like so just on the title I'm being so psyched for it. And it was like Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig I was like I cannot wait to see this movie. And then the movie ended up not being great which was like how do you fuck that up how do you because you got Sam Raimi to do that movie. Do you know what I mean? Like that movie would have been awesome. Yep. How do you fuck that concept up? You know anyway.

SPEAKER_03

Should you do it now I hate though like now that I've seen these three movies I hate knowing that what we're going into for the rest are like straight played horrors. Um I don't want that like I'm like what where can we go next? Let's do the dead versus cowboys fine.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah the dead vs cowboys let's just do dead across dead did you read about the original ending for this movie where he wanted him to like he was supposed to drink this elixir elixir that takes him back to the present but in only six drops you know it's like a sort of a play on the word thing where like remember these words exactly and he takes seven on accident and then he gets like does he go to the transported to like a future London where it's like post-apocalyptic or whatever.

SPEAKER_03

I would have liked that I would definitely have liked that better than the 2013 Evil Dead remake.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah I agree I agree.

SPEAKER_03

Um any other scenes that stood out to you like any other funny moments that you can remember one like it is sort of a my mile a minute my very last well there was one thing where there was like a bone flute and I was like oh shouldn't have had Ben cut my hairy flute joke out that would have double played I don't see any hair on that flute must be a different instrument that you played straight bone uh and I did write I was drunk at this point I wrote why don't people hang flags on their trumpets anymore that's good that's a good question.

SPEAKER_01

Were you did you were you into like the the obviously like cheesy skeleton army oh yeah it was hilarious.

SPEAKER_03

It was fun it was hilarious. His car was hilarious there's like moments where you can tell like someone's off screen just throwing skeletons at him just like catching them and like shaking them and throwing them off like the car was 100% like now I realize just how much he's influenced Robert Rodriguez because I was like okay the car that's what he does to his car in Planet Terror. The machine gun leg that's the chainsaw arm. Like Planet Terror is like clearly Robert Rodriguez's love letter to Sam Raimi in these films.

SPEAKER_01

That's so cool. I never thought about it that way I always just thought it was sort of more just more generic than that. But I'm sure that Sam it's funny I sent you all I don't know if you watched them but I sent you those clips of like Tarantino and Guillermo del Toro and Eli Roth like talking about yeah that's why it got me thinking about Grindhouse and then I was so I was like I should watch Grindhouse and then I could only get through one because it was like one o'clock in the morning at that point and I had to be at work at 7 a.m and Deathproof is pretty long yeah um but I think that's like like we were saying last week like it how it's a filmmaker he's a filmmaker's like these are filmmakers movies in a way where it's like everyone who likes movies loves movies on that level.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah well and I remember when Grindhouse came out I just like you know you're like a college kid who's discovering Tarantino and you like get into it at first because he sounds like oh like you like Tarantino you're so cool you're so seasoned you know what films to talk about but with Grindhouse like people were like what the fuck is that some people like absolutely hated it I always loved Robert Rodriguez like like loved his movies and so like I loved Grindhouse so much and we haven't had anything that's felt like that in a while because like even with like once upon a time in Hollywood now like Tarantino's ridiculous but a little more grounded in his ridiculousness I guess. Um so like getting into these films was just such a callback to like films that I really enjoyed when I was like really discovering my love of film and so I'm like now I like want more of that like watching these I've literally been like I'm in a cabin you're in a cabin why aren't we like taking advantage is taking advantage of like our settings and our like opportunities and our fact that our iPhones have insane cameras and just fucking around and making movies out here.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah I th it's like it it does inspire you it's funny how like some movies you watch and you're just like oh it's big budget whatever like I don't want to be the director of this movie. You know what I mean? Like that's too much. And then you watch movies like Evil Dead 2 and there's other movies too where I'll watch them and I'll be like while you're watching them you're inspired to make something. Yes. Like even David old David Fincher movies where you can watch like seven and be like oh I could write something like this like yeah you know what I mean like and and uh I have the same thought because I'm watching Widows Bay over now because I know we're we want to review that at some point and um I'm like man I I I'm in sort of a bay I I'm on a lake yeah you could do stuff but then there's like the complete opposite direction of that where it's like did you watch that werewolf trailer that came out with the Robert Eggers one? No it's not good. Robert Eggers, you know, who did um The Witch and he did you know everybody loved the witch and I didn't and Nasferatu you know like the remake did all those yeah the remake oh my god I don't like his movies did you watch that?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah I watched Nasferatu on the plane to Ireland and was like ugh and I didn't like the witch I think his movies are really I get like the gothic I'm not a gothic horror girl and I think his movies are really slow.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah I you know what it's funny I I think I think maybe we should do a Robert Eckers like episode maybe we'll do them like all at the same time and we'll just talk about his style.

SPEAKER_03

That sounds great.

SPEAKER_01

I was just like oh I hit his movies and you were like we should do them well I know I think it's an interesting conversation because like what my point being is like he he takes the world building so seriously where like when you watch like I so first of all the trailer for Werewolf or Werewolf or whatever you pronounce it is so like gross like you feel dirty watching it right like it doesn't feel like any other movie that's being made. This is sort of like Sam Raimi and Evil Dead but it's the opposite end of the spectrum where it's like that's clearly over the top and campy and fun and this is he's trying to make you feel kind of grossed out and disgusting the whole time and it's just fun that we don't get a lot of those movies anymore. Like there was a time on like Reinhouse that wasn't like such a crazy thought like we were getting movies that were like trying to be like old movies all the time. Like there was like uh um he's like a kung fu guy he's black it's like black dynam black dynamite oh yeah remember black dynamite that's one of the funniest movies I've ever seen because it's like it's it's like here's an old movie shot in the same style but it's straight up just a comedy the whole time but we're taking it seriously as like the performers or like something like Skycap and I don't remember that movie where it was like this sort of like 1940s aesthetic thing happening.

SPEAKER_03

With Angelina Jolie and Jude Law and uh Gweneth Paltr and Giovanni Rubisi I happen to maybe be one of the only people who owns that movie on DVD I think I have it too. I have every Angelina Jolie movie ever made so did you see my shirt oh my god I love that it's a Tomb Raider shirt for those of you who uh can't well for all of you who can't see this.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah what do you think about Sophie what's her name?

SPEAKER_03

Oh um Game of Thrones. Sansa Sansa Stark yeah um I see that photo of her no one will ever be Angelina for me but I'm excited to see what she does. Sophie Turner that's her name right yeah yeah I'm excited to see what she does with the character but no one will ever be Angelina but those movies are fucking ridiculous with Angelina too I agree I mean those are the second one she's like let me swim with this terrible CGI shark and catch a fin to the surface um yeah I don't know are we wrapping this up I mean I don't know if there's more to say but it's just yeah because cause the thing is is like all the things you like about this are the exact same things you like about two. Exactly better. You're watching him get more seasoned. So there's not like there's a whole lot more that you can go into about it unless it's just like talking about the moments that you enjoyed which is like like sure I can list like every moment that I really enjoyed in the movie But it everybody's like, yeah, I've seen it. I like that too. That's not interesting to listen to you talk about.

SPEAKER_01

I know. I uh I will I do want to say that like some of the special effects in the shot were pretty um not revolutionary, but they're pretty good considering the budget. Like they did some very uh unique things, especially with the scene where he has the the small guys of himself run around. What'd you think about um like one of the small guys becoming like his double half and he had to like came out of his head split? Yeah. I just thought it was like he's like, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I I mean I enjoyed that entire sequence. Like I I really now want to do these first three films as like our first slasher bash event because this one in particular, you could turn into the best drink game ever.

SPEAKER_01

Totally. Um, I also just love the epilogue here where he's back telling the story to the girl because it's like, did this actually happen? Was this just the story you were telling the whole time? And just that hero shot of him on the shopping cart, like shooting his shotgun. Like, that shit's so fucking cool. The boomstick. Yeah, like I don't know. Like, there's Sam Raimi does that stuff where he just all of a sudden it's like the coolest thing you've ever seen for like 30 seconds.

SPEAKER_03

Um, but again, that's why I think Sam Raimi is such a nerd because like nerds like you and me see that and we're like fucking awesome. Where if somebody actually tried to pull it off in real life, it'd be like fucking tool.

SPEAKER_01

I know you could never do that in a real movie, it would look stupid. You'd be like, what are they doing? I say real movie, but you know you like a serious movie. Um, which one do you like better?

SPEAKER_03

Uh it depends. If I'm putting something on to have like a fun, scary movie for Halloween, probably Evil Dead 2. If I'm like, let's have a really fun drinking game, Army of Darkness. So it would depend on the mood. Like they they're pretty tied for me, honestly. And uh I don't know. I mean, all three of them are tied. Like, I I loved all three, and now I'm like not really looking forward to these like straight played horror films because I'm like, these are so fun, I just want more of that.

SPEAKER_01

Do you think we'll ever get another Sam Raimi Evil Dead movie?

SPEAKER_03

I don't know, because he's we got the show.

SPEAKER_01

There's the show. I know.

SPEAKER_03

I'm like, should we watch Ash vs. the Evil Dead? No, it's like really highly rated.

SPEAKER_01

It is really highly rated. I'm I've I've only watched like the first couple episodes, and Sam Raimi only directs the first episode, and you can totally tell it's him, by the way. Um But I would I would watch that. Maybe we maybe we think about that. Maybe that's something we bring up later. Um I think I well, actually, I think I've heard an interview re quote recently where Bruce Campbell was like, we wrapped his story up. It's there's not gonna be any more. At least Bruce Campbell Evil Deads at this point. Um which is a bummer. But I, you know, he's you know, they're all old, getting older, and uh like I still wanna I still hope Sam Rami keeps making movies, but I did when I was on with Robert, he was like talking about like how like Bruce Campbell's like the perfect leading man, and I was like, he no, he's like Jim Carrey.

SPEAKER_03

Like he's comedy, you're not gonna be like romantic lead.

SPEAKER_01

He's like the sp he's like the spoof leading man. He's like the leading man that almost looks like the leading man and acts like him, but it's like yeah, he's like Jim Carrey. Like he you you're sort of laughing though. You know what I mean? Like there's an unseriousness to it.

SPEAKER_03

I know. Now I'm like, did he influence Jim Carrey's career, or did Jim Carrey like there's just so many you don't think that Bruce Campbell had any sort of influence on Jim Carrey?

SPEAKER_01

No, because they were they were doing the together, they were like coming up sort of at the same time.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, but like Liar Liar came out years after Evil Dead 2, and like his like whole hand thing is Jim Carrey's the claw in that movie. Like I brought that up last time.

SPEAKER_01

No, I know. But I don't I don't know. I don't you know what I don't know. I I always just think that Jim Carrey is sort of his own that's just who that's just who he is.

SPEAKER_03

But all his lines that he delivers in later films, like his ace ventura alrighty then was very groovy to me. I know like I feel like Jim Carrey rips off Bruce Campbell a little bit.

SPEAKER_01

Hot take. Maybe, but I I maybe. But I don't know. I I don't know. Because I, you know, you hear stories about Jim Carrey like practicing impressions and like doing weird things with his face all the time in the mirror, and like become I don't know. It just seems so authentically him, it's hard to there is a similarity there, I think, in the way that they're delivering lines, but I just don't know for sure. Yeah, maybe it's coincidence.

SPEAKER_03

It's just like and the things they do with their face. Like, I actually think they look very similar in how they do physical comedy.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe they're the same. Maybe we should get uh Evil Dead with Jim Carrey as the lead. I think I like two better. I'll just say it. I love both these movies. I it's not that two is better, I think technically, I would say on a technical level, one is or three is probably better, or Army Tarkins is better. But there's something about watching Evil Dead 2 being able to so noticeably see all the camera movement and see like the like it the jokes are so in your face that there isn't a a love of like I'm inspired by this, I see what you're doing, it's it's clever, it's original. You can't miss it, you know what I mean? Like, I would never like watch one or the other. You're kind of like locked into both, you know. You start one, you're gonna end up watching Army of Darkness too.

SPEAKER_03

I feel like this is like the perfect because they're short enough too. Like, I can literally be like, We're doing a four-hour marathon, and I'll enjoy it a lot more than spending four hours to watch another Scorsese film. Not that I don't love Scorsese films, yeah, but this would be four hours of pure fun.

SPEAKER_01

Exactly. I agree, I agree. Um, so yeah, tell us what you guys think. Which one is better? Which one do you prefer? I guess we already did that poll.

SPEAKER_03

Well, the poll was for all of them though. So these were the front runners, so now I can just do them against the time.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, interesting. Yeah, let's see. Let's see. Um you can you can do that at slasher bash underscore podcast. Right?

SPEAKER_02

The podcast.

SPEAKER_01

No, it's not.

SPEAKER_02

Is it not? Are you sure?

SPEAKER_00

No. We're so good at promoting ourselves. Yeah, we should get better at that.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, probably. Oh, you were right, slasher bash underscore podcast.

SPEAKER_01

Nice. Slasherbash underscore podcast, where you can follow us and participate in these kinds of conversations. I guess that's it. Did we even talk about Army of Darkness?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we totally did.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Had had Chloe seen it?

SPEAKER_03

She had not seen this one. So it was fun. We were like cracking up. We we had a hoot.

SPEAKER_01

Nice. That's the perfect way to that. Should be on the box for this.

SPEAKER_03

It's a hoot.

SPEAKER_01

We had a hoot. I never said the Metacritic score.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, what's the Metacritic score?

SPEAKER_01

That'll be a good way to end this episode. It's 59.

SPEAKER_03

That low, huh?

SPEAKER_01

I know. I know. Well, we all know what it's like. If you go on, you know, you can look at the critics and it says like the place where it's from. It's like there's all these like 100%, 100%, 100%, 100%. And then you get down to like Roger Ebert and Empire, and it's like 60, 59%, and you're like, really? Interesting. That's crazy to me. I I I think that's incorrect. This this movie is, I think, much higher than that. But you kind of have to get it. Yeah. You know? You kind of have to get it. Anyway, that's Army of Darkness. We'll be back next week with Evil Dead Rise. Burn? Rise Rise.

SPEAKER_02

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Rise. Which is an all-in-one apartment building, I think.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, really?

SPEAKER_01

I think so. I just remember I don't really know much about it.

SPEAKER_03

I remember when the trailer came out, I hadn't seen an Evil Dead movie besides the first two, as we know, I've mentioned that in all these episodes. But um seeing the trailer, Chloe was like, Nope, too scary. And I was like, Yeah, that one looks really creepy. So we'll see if it delivers.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we'll see. Find out.

SPEAKER_01

How do we want to sign this off?

SPEAKER_03

Give me some sugar, baby.

SPEAKER_00

Is that what he says?

SPEAKER_01

That's it.

SPEAKER_00

Cut. We got it.
