The episode looks at how we can apply these lessons today an how to keep an open mind because our God uses ordinary people to bring extraordinary changes.
Shekhinah Ministry Podcast 2 - Unlikely Heroes of Faith
Welcome to the Shekhinah Ministry Podcast. - a place where God’s
presence rests,
Hearts are awakened, and lives are transformed by His Love
I am you host Andra
Today we are talking about Unlikely Heroes of Faith -
where we explore how God moves through ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary purposes
When we think of the heroes of scripture, we often picture the bold, the
powerful, the influential.
But some of God’s greatest movements began with people who felt
Small, unseen, or unprepared.
Today, I want to reflect on three such individuals -
Gideon, Esther and the Ethiopian Official some refers to him as the
Ethiopian Eunuch - and how their stories invite us to say yes to God in
our own lives.
Lets us first look at Gideon - God Meets Us in Our Fear
Gideon wasn’t a warrior.
He wasn’t confident
He was hiding from the enemy,
convinced he had nothing to offer.
He said in Judges 6: 15 - ‘ But Lord, how can I save Israel? My clan is
the weakest….and I am the least.’
Yet God didn’t wait for Gideon to feel brave.
He met him right in the middle of his fear and called out the courage that
Gideon couldn’t see in himself.
In Judges 7:7 - ‘ God said to Gideon, ‘With the 300 men that lapped I will save you…’
Gideon story reminds us that God doesn’t call the ready -
He readies The Called.
Sometimes obedience begins with trembling
hands and a quiet whisper of faith.
We next look at Esther - Where God gives Purpose in the places We
Did not Choose
Esther didn’t choose the palace.
She didn’t choose her circumstances
She didn’t have political power or military strength
Yet God positioned her with purpose
In the the book of Esther chapter 4: 14 - her uncle Mordecai said to Esther
‘Who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a
time as this?’
Her courage wasn’t loud; it was thoughtful, strategic and rooted in trust.
Esther shows us that God often works through our influence, our timing
and our willingness to speak when silence feels safer.
Sometimes courage looks like a conversation.
Sometimes it looks like standing up for someone who has no voice
and Sometimes it looks like choosing integrity when compromise would be
easier.
Lastly we look at the Ethiopian Official - A Heart that Seeks
He was a man of status, intellect and deep spiritual hunger.
He was reading the scripture, searching for truth
When God sent Phillip to meet him on the road.
In the book of Acts 8: 30-31 we see a question Phillip asked the Official -
'Do you understand what you are reading?’
His openness led to revelation, transformation and the spread of the
gospel into Ethiopia.
Once the scripture was made clear to him and
Upon his understanding he said -
‘Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptised?’
His story teaches us that God moves powerfully through those who
seek, ask questions and remain open to His voice.
We can apply what we have learnt by - Saying YES in Our Everyday lives
We may never lead armies, influence Kings or carry the gospel across
continents.
But God still calls us - right where we are
Like Gideon
Saying Yes might mean stepping into something that scares us -
Like applying for the job, starting the ministry ,
having the difficult conversation
Like Esther saying yes might mean using our influence wisely -
Advocating for someone, making a decision or choosing integrity when it
costs us like the Ethiopian Official
Saying yes might mean seeking truth - opening scripture again and
reviving the word of God in us
Asking deeper questions or sharing what God is teaching us
God’s extraordinary work still flows through ordinary people.
Through students, workers, parents, neighbours and friends
Through those who feel unqualified, unseen, or unsure.
And in Wrapping up - This is your invitation to say YES
If these stories teaches us anything, it’s this:
God isn’t looking for perfection
He’s looking for willingness
Gideon said yes while afraid
Esther said yes while uncertain
The Ethiopian Official said yes while still learning
…and God moved through every single one of them
So today, the question isn’t whether God can use you
We know He can.
The question is … whether or not you’re willing to offer Him your yes
Because when ordinary people say yes, heaven moves.
And God writes stories through our lives that we could never write on our
own.
Until next time
Remain in HIS presence
Because that’s where transformation begins
This is Andra - Shekhinah Ministry
Saying bye for now until next time
Be blessed
