Welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome once again to Shekhinah Ministry. I'm so excited to share with you today's podcast. It's coming to you from the book of Acts and the second chapter. This is Andra, your host. So let's dig in. Now, when you read about speaking in tongues in Acts for the Apostles chapter 2, you're not just reading about a strange spiritual experience or a strange spiritual event that took place in the past. You're seeing a moment where God reaches human barriers and speaks directly to people where they are. So, what really happened on the day of Pentecost? Disciples were gathered together, and suddenly the host, the Holy Spirit filled them. They began to speak in other tongues, in other languages. People from many nations heard them. This was a great gathering. People from everywhere in the world came together for this day. And the crowd says something striking when they heard it. They said, We hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues. These weren't random sounds, these were real languages understood clearly like by people who had never shared a common speech with the disciples. Imagine the disciples had never before this moment spoken anybody else's language but the one they grew up knowing to speak. At its heart, this moment is about God making himself known. Before this, language divided people. Nations were separated, understanding was limited, but here God speaks across those divisions. Every listener hears in a way that reaches their own heart. No one was excluded by culture, background, or language. And that's the same today. This wasn't about showing off a spiritual ability, it's about removing distance between God and his people. Acts 2 shows a few deeply human truths. One, God wants to be understood. He doesn't hide himself behind mystery for his own sake. He speaks in a way people can actually grasp. Two, God meets people where they are. Each person heard in their own language, not forced into someone else's. And three, God's message is for everyone, different nations, different lives, but one message, the wonders of God. Acts chapter 2 shows us these things about the gift of tongues. Tongues are real, recognisable languages. They are understood by others without interpretation. They are used to declare God's work, not private thoughts, and they function as a sign that God is moving. This is outward, clear, and directed toward people, learning, hearing God's truth, not hidden, not confusing. There is something deeply personal in this. Imagine standing in a crowd where everything feels distant, different people, different voices, nothing familiar. Imagine that feeling. Then suddenly you hear someone speak clearly in your own language, saying something that cuts straight to the core of who you are. That's what happened. The gift of tongues in Acts 2 is not just about speech, it's about being seen, being reached. It's about being included. It says, You are not too far away. You are not outside the message. God knows how to speak so that you can understand. A deeper takeaway is this Acts 2 isn't telling you to chase an experience, it is showing you God taking the first step towards humanity. The miracle isn't just that people spoke. The miracle is this, that people heard and that they understood, and that tells you something lasting. God's desire is not confusion, it's not distance nor performance, his desire is connection, clarity, and truth that reaches the heart of all men. So today, if you're yearning for the presence of God, if you're yearning to be filled or baptised with his Holy Spirit and be given the gift of tongues, we pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our soon coming King, that you will be filled with his Holy Spirit from upon high, as it was on the day of Pentecost, when the tongues of flaming fire fell upon the apostles, upon the disciples, upon all those people who are gathered in the upper house, in the upper room. We pray, O God, that you too will be filled, baptised with the Holy Ghost and fire, and speak in tongues. We pray this now over your life in the mighty name of Jesus. Our soon coming King. Amen and amen and amen. This is your girl Andra at Shekhinah Ministry saying bye for now. May the Spirit of God dwell in you richly. Shalom.
