Welcome back to Bestland Ever, where we are exploring the way of surrender. If you took the surrender assessment yesterday, uh you would know that it's made up of these 50 short maxims. I call them maxims. And um and just these statements. And uh you come into the book, the 50 maxims are there, and uh and then there's a reflection on how to live each one of the maxims. So for the next five days, I have picked five, we talk about one each day, um, to give you a sense of like what this is and how we might begin uh to live this. So the first maxim: I trust that God's plans for my life are good, even when I don't understand my current circumstances. Think about that. I trust that God's plans for for my life are good even when I don't understand my current circumstances. And how often do we find ourselves in that situation, right? There's probably in our lives, in my life, there's probably something every day that I look at, you know, and I think, mm, I wonder what God's doing there. Because I do not understand this current circumstance. And and being able to trust God and to believe that God's plans for our lives are good. Even in the midst of that uncertainty, it does require a certain faith and it absolutely requires a certain surrender. And then I love the opening of this chapter. Are you exhausted? Is it possible that your exhaustion is a result of your refusal to surrender? Resisting God is exhausting. It's like, wow, it's so true, isn't it? Because what happens? Like when we resist the will of God, think about the force that you are resisting when you resist the will of God. And then when you resist the will of God, you're trying to control everything. And that's exhausting. It's exhausting when you refuse to surrender in trying to control everything, trying to make sure that you get the outcome that you want in every situation, rather than trusting that God is going to lead each situation to the outcome that is best for us. You know, when we don't surrender, we're like, okay, I want that outcome there, and in order to get that outcome there, I need this person to do this, and this person to do that, and I've got to do this, and I've got to make sure that on this day, at this time, in this way, in this place, I take care of this thing. Like, just it's exhausting. And we've all lived our lives that way. We've all approached particular situations in that way. And and if we look back, I think it is it is clear that resisting God is exhausting. Are you exhausted? Is it possible that your exhaustion is the result of your refusal to surrender? And we maybe sit here and think, no, but I'm surrendered to God. Yes, and no, right? Let's search out our heart today for those parts of our heart, those parts of our mind, those parts of our lives where we're not surrendered to God. Because we might say, yes, I've surrendered to God, but we might be holding back something. Oh, I'm surrendered to God, but um but I'm not gonna forgive this person because they and that really hurt me. But I'm surrendered to God. Or I'm surrendered to God, but in this one situation, you know, I it's really important that it's so important that you can't surrender to God. That's what we tell ourselves, right? But it's lunacy. It's lunacy. And of course, you wander around the world, you go about your life. Everywhere we go, what do we meet? We meet people who are exhausted. Is it possible that our exhaustion is a result of our refusal to surrender? Resisting God is exhausting. Resisting God is exhausting. Have a great day. If you haven't picked up a copy of the book, encourage you to pick up a copy of The Way of Surrender and also Seasons of Surrender. Books go together. It's a fantastic, fantastic spiritual resources.
