Hey Beavas and Dudes, I'm Sarah, and this is your favorite true crime podcast, Deadly Deavas.
SPEAKER_01And I'm Tina, and thank you for joining us for our latest episode.
SPEAKER_00And this is a bonus episode. But before we go into it, Tina, I have a confession to make. Oh God, what now? So the staircase came out today. We're recording this on Friday, May 29th. If you didn't notice yet, I accidentally forgot to put the after-show as a bonus episode and everybody has access to it. I didn't even notice. Oh my goodness. Okay. Yeah. When you were checking the downloads earlier, I was like, ah shit. She's gonna I didn't even look. Wow. Okay. Yeah, I looked this morning and there were so many after-show downloads. I was like, do we have new subscribers? Right. And then I realized that I just didn't click the bonus spell. I'm not taking it back now. Right. So enjoy, and that's what you'll get if you subscribe. All right. So moving on.
SPEAKER_01Moving right along. Today's story has gone absolutely viral since the Netflix documentary was released. And this case is just absolutely chilling.
SPEAKER_00We've been covering it on our TikTok and our Facebook page. So don't forget to follow us on our social media. It's definitely a good way to find out what episodes are coming out soon, which ones were released today, and which ones you may have missed, as well as updates on current cases like this one.
SPEAKER_01This story is known as the crash, and it is the absolutely horrendous case of how two young men lost their lives after a deadly crash that turned out to be intentional. We actually have both been following this, but Sarah is going to lead us on this story of Mackenzie Sherilla and the sad deaths of Davion Flanagan and Dominic Russo.
SPEAKER_00So the first time I heard of this case was on Killer Cases, season four, episode 12, which you can catch on Hulu. And it's also on Mean Girl Murders, also on Hulu, episode seven of season two. But the new documentary, The Crash, is the one that's causing a lot of buzz, mainly due to the interviews with Mackenzie's friend Rosie and her parents, Natalie and Steve, and Mackenzie's interview from jail, which are all well it's mind-blowing to be honest. And infuriating. So to start at the beginning, on July 31st, 2022, 17-year-old Mackenzie Sherilla drove her 2018 Toyota Camry into a brick wall in Strongville, Strongsville, Ohio, at over 100 miles an hour, killing both her passengers, her boyfriend Dominic Rousseau, and their mutual friend, Dabion Flanagan. Mackenzie herself was severely injured and was the sole survivor of the crash. And what followed as the police investigation unfolded was just unbelievable. Dominic Rousseau was 20 at the time of his passing, and he had been dating Mackenzie on and off for around four years. Even though she was only 17, they were living together with her parents' permission. Now, I looked into how a 20-year-old could afford their own house, and it seems that his family was quite well off. And he actually lived in the house next door to his parents. And his house had a recording studio in it, which was something he planned to do for a living, along with making money by trading cryptocurrency, which was apparently his main source of income, but we'll come to that later. That's his given source of income.
SPEAKER_01That's the one that he writes on like job applications and stuff. That ain't the real job.
SPEAKER_00So Dabion was 19 and part of a larger friend group that the couple had who parted and did drugs together on pretty much a daily basis. And Dabion was also into rapping and hung out a lot with them at the house as he also used the recording studio with Dominic, although his long-term plan was to be a barber. So this crash happened around 5:30 a.m. in the morning and went undiscovered for about 45 minutes until a biker drove by and saw the scene and notified police. On arrival, the police can tell that the two male occupants of the car had not been wearing seatbelts and had already passed away. But the female driver, although they could not find a pulse, they could see her stomach moving and had hopes that she may still be alive, and she was wearing a seatbelt. After they smashed in the windows to gain access to the vehicle, they were not able to move Mackenzie in order to administer medical help as she was trapped under the dashboard and the airbags which had deployed. Eventually it took the jaws of life to free her and she was airlifted to a hospital in Cleveland. First responders' initial assumption was that this was an accident. They could clearly see where the car had left the road, and it appeared that the younger driver had just lost control of the car and collided with the building as a result. Their one concern at the time was that maybe the driver was under the influence of something, especially since psychedelic mushrooms, some marijuana, and a drug scale were found in Mackenzie's purse. So at worst they're thinking this accident could have been a result of an impaired driver. However, as the days and weeks after the crash go by and police look further and further into the car's black box recording, Mackenzie's text, her Snapchats, her social media, her relationship with Dominic and what caused the wreck, whether or not it was an accident starts to come into question. One of the first things that piques the investigators' interest is when they first visit Mackenzie in hospital to question her about the crash. It surprises them that she and her parents are hesitant to speak with them about the crash at all. So they tell her that they are investigating a possible aggravated vehicular homicide times two. At which point she starts talking to her mom in some kind of coded language that the prosecutor refers to as gibberish or like pig Latin, which they translate to Mackenzie saying to her mum, Can we tell the police I had a seizure? Can we tell them something like that? Wow. And this is an immediate response to them telling her about the possible vehicular homicide investigation. Then Mackenzie turns to the officer and says, Can't you just take my driver's license away for like 10 years? Wow. I didn't know if you knew that part.
SPEAKER_01I didn't know any of that. Wow.
SPEAKER_00Which comes across to the police as an admission of guilt. And so they start digging deeper into her life and her relationship with Dom and her social media. Yeah, that's a little nugget that I thought you'd like.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I al I already thought she was guilty, but like, but she Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So one of the th first things that is blatantly obvious from her social so from her socials is that she smokes marijuana on a daily basis and frequently drove her car under the influence. I also wanted to note here that her parents followed her social media accounts, and her mom would often like the posts in which she was smoking weed, dressed inappropriately, and waving lots of cash.
SPEAKER_01And on something that I watched, it may have been the Netflix documentary, don't quote me on that, but the dad was interviewed and he literally said something like, I don't mind if my kid smokes dope. That's the best kind of dope you can smoke.
SPEAKER_00And I was like, There's your problem. Right. However, the toxicology report on Mackenzie after the accident indicated that drugs were not a factor in a wreck in the wreck that day. It is also noted on her medical intake form, when she was first questioned about what happened and if she had any medical conditions, she had reported no kind of blackout or neurological problem. Mm-hmm. So the next thing to investigate was if there was a mechanical fault with the car. And they hired a forensic mechanic to look at the remains of the car. We come across those before, didn't we, with Helena Norker? Yeah, it's so fascinating. And side note, I was on TikTok last night and I saw a TikTok that infuriated me because it said it has come out that Davion's sister messed with the car. It says right here that she had a lot of enemies, and so they did consider that the car may have been tampered with, which is why they had a forensic mechanic come and look at it and prove that nothing had been tampered with. He analyzed the steering system, the suspension, the braking system, and there was no kind of mechanical failure or interruption with the car's running.
SPEAKER_01Wait a minute, back up, rewind. First of all, so somebody said that Debion's sister, the girl that has been publicly speaking, tampered with Mackenzie's car. Yeah. And that's it.
SPEAKER_00Why would she do that? She wanted to kill her brother? I don't think so. I don't know. I I scrolled past the TikTok as fast as you can blink because I would have smashed my phone probably otherwise. But I was like, do people even look at the facts? No, this person obviously didn't. Right. Because that was one of the first things they ruled out. It became very apparent very quickly that she had a lot of enemies. No surprise there.
SPEAKER_01She was nasty. She was a nasty person.
SPEAKER_00She was a nasty person. She pissed off a lot of people and she had a lot of enemies, and it's one of the first things they ruled out. So people need to start just jumping to conclusions.
SPEAKER_01And why would this teenage girl have any knowledge of how to tap her with a car?
SPEAKER_00I mean, how old was she at the time? I don't know, but I'm 38 and I can barely tell gas. Now, while Mackenzie is recovering in the hospital, six days after the crash, police are called to her room to break up a fight between her and her dad. Her dad is removed from the room and tells police that she is hysterical and he thinks that she needs a psych consult, which I thought was interesting. That YouTube you sent me last night mentioned a little bit about that. So apparently the fight was she wanted to go to the funerals and he wouldn't let her or something like that. And also come across things that say she didn't even go to the funerals, but I've left that out because it sounds like maybe she did want to go. We don't really know what happened there. Not going to comment on something I don't have information on. But I did think it was interesting that the police have to come to the hospital to break up a fight between her and her parents.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00Whatever it be about.
SPEAKER_01And this seemed like a common occurrence. Like there were multiple reports of disputes and stuff where the police had to be called even before this. But oh, Mackenzie was a perfect child, no behavioral issues, she never got into trouble.
SPEAKER_00So then a young man by the name of Tyler Croy goes to the police station to show that he had Dominic on the Life 360 app. And you can see in the history where Dominic was and how fast he was going. And it proves that the car accelerated towards the building with no evidence of braking. And you can see on the app that after she turned on to progress, that piece of film that everybody's seen where she's riding sedately, the car accelerated from 30 to 90 in a very short time. In other words, she hit the gas full on. She did not slowly speed up. That was foot to the floor. Yeah, foot to the floor. So side note, I saw an interview with Tyler Proctor. So this is a different Tyler. Don't get your tiles muddled up because Arms did make in the notes. He admits he used to date Mackenzie before Dom. And she actually dated them both at once when she first met Dom. What? I'm shocked. Right? Though Tyler says he was never serious about the relationship with her due to the fact that she's a total psycho.
SPEAKER_01I was about to say due to the fact that she's batshit crazy.
SPEAKER_00So he says the psycho tendencies included having a voodoo doll of Dom, which she apparently still has and uses it to talk to Dom now. He states to police that he believes Mackenzie had mental issues and was trying to kill herself. He speculates that she probably got in an argument with Dom, threatened to kill him, and had no regard for Debian, and this is just his opinion as a former boyfriend of Mackenzie who had dealt with her in similar ways.
SPEAKER_01I have some stuff for the after show regarding the relationship between Davion and Mackenzie. Well, yes. Interesting. Not they didn't have like a romantic relationship or anything. Just the dynamic.
SPEAKER_00No, just the dynamic between. Well, I have a little bit later on about stuff that happened between them the night of the wreck before the wreck. Okay. All right. So police talk to more students at Mackenzie High School and hear things like she had no boundaries, all she cared about was herself. She thought she was going to become social media famous. She was out of control. And incidentally, shockingly enough, she was not doing well in high school.
SPEAKER_02Well I know.
SPEAKER_00They decide to look further into the relationship between Mackenzie and Dom. And a video surfaces that Dom took of arguments that he had with Mackenzie, in which she threatens to do things like key his car. Because, you know, she had not regard for consequences. And they also find texts between them where Dom says to Mackenzie, the exact quote, you threaten to end my life all the time. Interesting, right? Very interesting. Now, a few weeks before the crash, Dom called his mom to say Mackenzie was driving erratically. And when a friend went to go get them, he heard Mackenzie say to Dom, I swear I will crash this car. Mm. Meanwhile, as Mackenzie is recovering in hospital, her and her mother are back on social media, lacking up the increased attention on her socials, which she's getting due to the crash, and even negotiating with companies for sponsorships. And that's as much time as I'm gonna give them. It's the most disgusting behavior that I've ever seen in my life. The parents of Dominic and Davion are also starting to suspect that this was no accident and may increase pressure on the investigators. They are appalled by new social media posts by Mackenzie. It seems that she went to a concert in a wheelchair almost immediately after being released from hospital. And she posted pictures from a Halloween party dressed as a corpse, laughing and dancing, not only showing no grieving for the quote, love of her life, unquote, whom she had dated for the past four years, but also exhibiting extremely poor taste and disrespect. And in Davion's dad's exact words, in the most tasteless way possible, which I thought said it all.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_00So one text exchange Mackenzie has with Dominic's mother, she says, if I had done this on purpose, I would have made sure I died. And she also says, and this is an exact quote, it really kills me not being able to remember anything. Oh, okay. Um tackless choice of words there in Mackenzie. It kills me. The prosecutors do believe that Mackenzie did intend to kill herself as well. They also believe that Dominic and Dabion had removed their seatbelts in an effort to stop what was happening, but just did not have enough time. The black box from the car indicates that the car accelerated at 100% towards the building, and that means foot all the way to the ground, no breaking, occurred for the last five seconds, because that's all that the box reports is the last five seconds. So three months after the crash, Mackenzie is arrested and charged with aggravated murder times two. She is charged as a juvenile as she was 17 when the crash happened. But her parents hear she's arrested, head to the police station, demand to see their daughter so they can tell her not to say anything until she gets a lawyer. And they are told that because she is now 18, she is an adult and they don't have a right to see her. Incidentally, her dad replies, Yes, but she's a dumb 18-year-old. The police tell him that as she is 18, she has to make her own choices about talking to lawyers or who she's gonna talk to, but her dad just keeps telling the police she is not allowed to speak to you. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Like these people are so completely out of touch with reality. Every single one, the mom, the dad, Mackenzie, they don't live on planet Earth.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. You think they've just arrested her for aggravated murder times too, and they're just gonna not question her because you told them not to?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like you're gonna just they're gonna just leave her alone.
SPEAKER_00Like now, if she was being charged as a juvenile, she would only have been allowed a maximum sentence of incarceration until up to her 21st birthday, so less than four years. So they had a three-day hearing at juvenile court and convinced the judge that they had enough evidence to charge her as an adult for murder. At this point, the defense tried to make a plea deal at the juvenile hearing, offering that Mackenzie is prepared to serve juvenile probation until her 21st birthday. So no prison sentence at all, just probation supervision. But the court requires the fam the victims of the families to agree to any kind of plea deal, and not a single one of them was interested in that suggestion. Good. They felt it would be a slap on the wrist. Right. The court decides she will be tried as an adult. Again, that whole part's just delusional.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it is. That's not even a slap on the wrist. That's a pat on the head. Like, oh, it's okay.
SPEAKER_00Now at this point, I want to go over some of the evidence that was left out of the crash documentary. As you literally just saw the tip of the iceberg in that one. And if you thought the evidence in the documentary was compelling and chilling, get ready. So let's go back to the night of the crash. Now, I made these notes before I saw, for instance, the YouTube that you said. So there does seem to be a little bit of different stories as to what they did that night. I know in Annie Elise she said that supposedly they were at Paul's house, but they were actually at Rose's house. But this is something that I got that seemed to have text and video and picture evidence to support it. So we don't know that this is 100% true. There's definitely different versions of what happened that night, but this is what my research turned up. Okay. Okay. At 11 p.m. on July 30th, all three of them were on their way to a party. Mackenzie's 18th birthday was just three days away, and they were in fact celebrating her birthday. It was not just a sleepover, Rosie. At 2 a.m., they're seen smoking weed and offering mushrooms to the host of the party. That there is video and picture evidence of. They left the party at 3:30 a.m. and went to another friend's house to chill and watch South Park. Now that does tie in with everybody else. Could have been Paul's house, could have been Rosie's house. Which is what maybe Rosie was referring to as the sleepover that was not a party. But that's kind of a selective memory, Rosie. They definitely parted until 3:30. Right. But anyway, at 5 a.m., Mackenzie insists on going home and refuses to give Dabion a ride. She also insists on driving, which apparently she never did. Dominic drove everywhere. She insists on driving and she says that she does not want to give Dabion a ride home. She gets into a fight with Don about it, and he ends up persuading her to give Dabion a ride home. That part really gave me chills.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because he shouldn't have even been in that.
SPEAKER_00He shouldn't have been in the car, and this is where you get the impression that she knew what she was about to do. Right, right. When they look closely on the 360 app and the car tracks, it appears the car was headed directly for a tree and at the last moment swerves towards the building. So there is speculation that she was aiming at the tree, and maybe Dom and Dabian were trying to redirect the car, but just speculation. But do you remember how they were found on top of each other in the front? They felt that they were trying to either get to the handbrake or the steering wheel. Right. And that's why he was diving towards the front. Right. But I mean the force could also take you to the front together. Speculation. I've seen some things that say that the black box says that somebody tried to do the handbrake, but there's no definite evidence of that.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00But this does indicate that maybe she was headed for the tree, and the reason why it swerved at that last minute was them trying to avoid the tree, but unfortunately the building was right there. As far as Mackenzie's mum saying that she was never suicidal, there are multiple witnesses and text messages of McKenzie threatening to kill herself if Don Evan broke up with her. So we know what police found on her social media. Let's go what into they found. Let's go into what they found on her phone. And if you think Snapchat chats disappear for good, you're about to hear how long you are. On her phone was a fake ID. Videos of her drinking and smoking pot while driving. And a Snapchat conversation with an unknown person that offered naked pictures for $1,000 or for $2,500. Exact quote, anything you want. But maybe the most chilling of all, the data from her phone showed that just days before the crash, Mackenzie had driven the route of the crash at least seven times in one day. What police can only assume was a practice run. And it was an industrial area. It wasn't near her home, it wasn't near restaurant, spars, clubs, it was an industrial area. So moving on to the trial. Mackenzie opts for a bench trial, so the judge gets to decide her fate, not a jury. First thing prosecutors notice is Mackenzie turns up to court on the first day with a cast on her arm, for which they are not able to find any medical reason. So suspicion is she wanted to remind people that she was also hurt in the crash, but she definitely did not have the cast on for the Halloween pictures.
SPEAKER_03Mm-mm.
SPEAKER_00The defense's main claim is that if she did this on purpose, she had to be suicidal. And at no time was she. Factually, that's not correct. Right. When her mother takes the stand, she claims to have witnessed her daughter, she claims to have never witnessed her daughter having suicidal thoughts or tendencies. And she testifies that Mackenzie was diagnosed with POTS, a disease which causes the blood pressure to lower to a point where an individual can pass out. Now I spoke to somebody that had POTS just yesterday, and uh she told Me, it never happens while you're sat down. Right. Because it's when you get up. It's when you get up. And that is why you can still get a driver's license with it. Right. Because it's to do with lowered blood pressure and it doesn't change when you're sat in a car. Anyway. All the evidence we have mentioned already is shown to the judge on the defense side that she was diagnosed with a POTS and they lean heavy on the reasonable doubt aspect that no one can prove if this was attentional or not. And the defense attorney says, at most, all you can prove is that she is reckless and used drugs. The prosecution goes over the black box evidence from the car, proving the acceleration was never led up, which one would assume would happen if somebody did pass out, and no breaking ever took place, along with the evidence of the turbulent relationship between Donald and Mackenzie, the many death threats and suicide that pass suicide threats that pass between them, and the constant fights and threatening to key cars and so on. But they also have the social media evidence of Mackenzie the way she acted before the crash with no boundaries and after the crash with no remorse or grief or respect. The possible drug dealing and sex for sale was most likely not brought up because although they are illegal, she was not on trial for that, and it would not have had anything directly to do with the crash. But it sure does tell us a lot about her ethics and her moral compass.
SPEAKER_01Right, which is non-existent, clearly.
SPEAKER_00They're able to play the fights between Dominic and Mackenzie and the volatile behavior that resulted. So the judge takes the weekend to make her decision and finds Mackenzie guilty of two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, amongst other charges. She's in total convicted of twelve felony charges, including four counts of murder, four counts of felinous assault, two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, and various drug charges. And this is what aggravates people the most, including myself. She was sentenced to two concurrent life sentences with the possibility of parole in 2037. So that means that she doesn't have to serve 30 years, 15 for one and then 15 for the other. They're literally served at the same time. And I think it was uh Davion's mom that said that literally counts like she only killed one person. Right, exactly. I don't know why concurrent sentence life sentences even exist. They shouldn't, right. So she is currently incarcerated in the higher reformery for women and has faced multiple disciplinary issues already, including contraband possession, misuse of medication, and rule violations since the start of her sentence. So it doesn't look like she's gonna get parole for good behavior. I can't believe she's not on her best behavior. I know. Shocking, right?
SPEAKER_01Okay. Um, so we touched on this a little bit, but did she plan to die herself in the crash? Like it it makes sense, but also it was reported that she never wore a seatbelt and always drove reckl recklessly, but she wore a seatbelt the day of the crash.
SPEAKER_00I don't want to say that she didn't care if she lived or died. I don't think that she was thinking sanely enough to think about herself. Right. She was having an argument with him, she was mad with him, she wanted to do something to show how angry she was. I don't think it even occurred to her. Right. She wasn't even thinking that far ahead.
SPEAKER_01She just was like mad upset.
SPEAKER_00I'm pissed when I'm gonna show you. Right. She probably didn't care if she lived or died.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and maybe the the seatbelt was just a subconscious thing. If it was premeditated, which I've I truly believe that it was, maybe her subconscious, you know, had her put that seatbelt on. She may not have even.
SPEAKER_00Because the human brain automatically tries to save itself, doesn't it? Yeah. And her having a seatbelt on saved her life, but Davion and Dominic may have taken those off to try to save their lives, which is kind of ironic.
SPEAKER_01Really sad if that is what happened.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And it also means that they were aware of what's going on, which is just hideous to think about.
SPEAKER_01Well, I want to touch on the sex work, not because I think that sex work is, you know, bad and wrong and blah, blah, blah. But she was only 17 years old, which is very problematic.
SPEAKER_00She was a child. But she wasn't in any way acting like a child. She lived with her boyfriend independently, doing whatever the fuck she wanted.
SPEAKER_01Right. And that's another another thing that I want to shame her parents for. They should be ashamed, obviously they're not, but why are they letting a 17-year-old live with a 20-year-old? She should be at home worried about school and her future.
SPEAKER_00I I did read somewhere that the speculation of why she was particularly mad enough during this argument to act the way that she did, is that he was done with her once and for all, and that he said to her, That's it, I'm done, you're moving out. And she would have had to go back to living with her parents and not living this life that she was living, and that that was the final straw for her. We don't know what went down in that car, but imagine how she would have felt if she did have to go back, even though the parents didn't give a fuck and didn't control her, and I'm sure she didn't want to go back to living there.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that actually makes a lot of sense. But back to the sex work, yeah, she was 17 years old, and Dumb obviously had a problem with there were texts that he was like, I'm not okay with this basically. And I don't remember the exact quote, and it's it's kind of vile, but he's like, You literally let a guy fuck your feet for a thousand dollars or whatever. I don't remember the exact numbers, but he was clearly not okay with it, and it was clearly something that she was like advocating for in this conversation. She was like, We were broken up, and it's not even actual quote unquote prostitution.
SPEAKER_00Which is probably why she was using Snapchat for the real deals of anything you want for 2,500, because then he wouldn't be able to necessarily see it. Yeah. Police shorted planet though. Police. I saw screenshots of that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And another thing that I think they were both doing, I think they were both selling drugs.
SPEAKER_00Right. Yeah, I have that down here. It's almost definitely if if the designer goods were real, the amount of designer goods that they had and wads of cash and drugs that they had, and apparently um didn't somebody say that sh Rosie texted her a list of people that were looking for drugs that night.
SPEAKER_01Right, right. Uh it was kind of like an open secret. Like everybody knew it, but didn't necessarily just openly speak about it. But it's like if you need pot or mushrooms or whatever, Mackenzie and Dom have got you.
SPEAKER_00I feel like that's why it was all over their social media. That's how drug dealers advertise. Right. Because they can't just like, you know, advertise like everybody else. But it's gonna be like, hey, look, we have lots of drugs and lots of money. Guess where you can get your stuff.
SPEAKER_01And she was so blatant with it. I mean, just this the videos of her driving recklessly down the road and you know, taking a hit from a bong. Like, number one, to to do that anyway is completely reckless, but to record yourself as if you're proud of it. And her parents were obviously okay with it. They weren't putting a stop to it. They were liking the videos.
SPEAKER_00She recorded herself driving 100 miles an hour. So you're actually operating a phone on record at the same time as driving 100 miles an hour. I mean, something sooner or later was gonna happen.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah. It's a miracle that it took as long as it did. Um, did you hear about her bitch list?
SPEAKER_00No. They say that she saw herself as the Regina, what's her name? Regina George. Regina George. And you were either with her or you won't. And if you pissed her off, she had what she called a bitch list. Right. And those were the people that her crowd were not allowed to be nice to. And if you pissed her off, you made the bitch list.
SPEAKER_01I it doesn't surprise me at all. And I just think like what a loser. If your aspiration in life is Regina George, you're a loser. Yeah. You're a loser. That's it. Have a great one.
SPEAKER_00I didn't find anything on the destruction of Dabion's grave. I dug and I dug and I dug and I didn't find that. So I forget what we heard that on, but I can't find anything about his grave ever being destroyed.
SPEAKER_01It was it was it was YouTube or TikTok, I think. And I got, I hope to God that that did not happen. Um, because how horrible, how absolutely horrible.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I looked it up because it would have been something worth mentioning, but as I couldn't find anything on it, I really don't want to.
SPEAKER_01Hopefully it was a rumor and there's no truth to it. Yeah, the next thing I have, did you know that they uh Mackenzie and Dom broke into a church a couple weeks before and caused $85,000 worth of damage? And it was just to literally go in and like take selfies for social media. And I'm like, this is dumb behavior.
SPEAKER_00How dumb can you be if you post yourself committing a fallacy? Right. I mean she was doing that every day, though. I guess with the drugs, but I mean, I wonder if mom likes that post.
SPEAKER_01She probably did. And I think that this just speaks to the life that they were living. Obviously, they neither of them were stable adults. And I'm not trying to speak ill of the dead, you know, rest in peace to Dom. He did not deserve to die. But obviously they were selling drugs. Obviously, they were partying, they were breaking and entering, they were causing destruction to property, all of these things. And like I just said, it's a miracle something didn't happen sooner. Why were where were the parents? Where were any of the parents while they were doing any of this?
SPEAKER_00Can you read the top line of my notes? Let's talk about parental failure.
SPEAKER_01Let's discuss that. And none of us are perfect parents, of course, not indicating that at all. But this is egregious parental failure. I mean, I don't think there was any parenting going on. Not for Mackenzie. None.
SPEAKER_00Did she hear any brothers or sisters?
SPEAKER_01Yes, Mackenzie Sherilla has a sister named Danielle Sherilla. But from everything that I've heard, Mackenzie was like the favorite child, the golden child.
SPEAKER_00Because it sounds like her sister wanted nothing to do with any of this shit, because we haven't heard mention of her at all.
SPEAKER_01Good. And maybe her sister has got some common sense, and I I feel bad for her sister that she's had to live through this fucking nightmare. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So next on my list is when they interviewed the school friends and they said she dressed like a stripper or like she was auditioning to work at a strip club.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I mean And you and you see it in all of her videos. The dad told one of Mackenzie's friends, help me save my daughter. And then that friend was not cooperating with the police.
SPEAKER_00What did he want him to lie? I didn't hear that.
SPEAKER_01Uh I don't know the specifics. It was just overheard that McKenzie's dad told this specific friend, help me save my daughter. And then that friend then did not cooperate with the police. They wanted to interview him, and he was like, No, I'm not doing it. But then he also asked Davion's sister, Hey, can I go and walk through his room just like to say goodbye? Maybe it'll help me heal. But yet he wasn't willing to be interviewed.
SPEAKER_00Davion, the one that they said in court, was a new friend that they barely knew. Right, right.
SPEAKER_01And then another thing that the dad said, I think this was to an actual cop, was she's already attempted to kill herself and has killed those two boys. You've just admitted it. You've just admitted that she did it intentionally. And both of those parents know that. This is not a long time.
SPEAKER_00They should have. He probably would have been like, I don't remember. So what I have on the dad is the dad's general demeanor and his dress code in court. So he leans back, he crosses one leg over the other. I don't mean like cross leg, I have it like you could be up tie. I mean, like casually crossed one leg over the other. He's obviously never heard of a tie. I mean, his whole demeanor and dress code in court baffled me in a way that if my kid was on trial, I would be trying to give the best impression of family support I possibly could.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. And it's just be respectful of the victims here, not just your own.
SPEAKER_00Well, you shouldn't talk about no respect for the judge. No period. For anybody. So like he didn't expect Mackenzie to follow instructions or rules, but it seems like that's his demeanor too. Exactly. If you're just a bystander in court, sure, wear whatever the hell you want. But if your daughter's on trial for the murder of two people, wearing a short sleeve shirt that's unbuttoned, leaning back, crossing crossing one leg over the other, looking into the corner. I mean, I just I did you catch up on that? I didn't I was like, I would be on the edge of my seat in a shirt and tie.
SPEAKER_01Just And even if I didn't care, I would look like I cared to save face. You know what I mean? Right. Everybody knows how to act right in court. So these people don't have any integrity, and they also are just extremely dumb. And I'm glad you brought up his dress code because what about that fucking boom shirt in the documentary?
SPEAKER_00Carl's picked up on that. When he's being interviewed about his daughter crashing a car and killing two people, he is wearing a t-shirt with a cartoon, I don't know what it had on it, but it said boom across the front.
SPEAKER_01In large letters. And like, I wonder, did like a producer or something from Netflix not say, hey, um, this might not be the best choice.
SPEAKER_00Of course they didn't, because they want their stuff to be controversial and popular. And look, here we are talking about it. Yeah. It's a win-win for Netflix.
SPEAKER_01And you know what it reminds me of? It reminds me of when that the big hurricane or whatever happened. Was it in Cuba? I can't remember, but I think it was Donald Trump's first term. And Melania wore that jacket that said, I don't really care. Do you when they went down there for hurricane relief? I I do not remember that at all.
SPEAKER_00But she's a horrible bitch.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And he was throwing out paper towels.
SPEAKER_00And he definitely has advisors that should know better.
SPEAKER_01He yeah, he he. But anyway, we're not talking about Donald Trump, but that it just it reminded me of that.
SPEAKER_00So what do you think about the sentence being concurrent? I mean, she could sh she get she could get out at 32 and literally get married, have a family, and live a full life. I hope And that makes me sick.
SPEAKER_01I hope that she doesn't have children because I cannot imagine that's why the pattern. I I can't imagine the type of mother that she would be. I I I would worry for any child that she had custody of. I really would. I would worry gravely for their safety.
SPEAKER_00I mean, one thing the judge said was I understand people want the maximum sentence, but I don't think it's justified because I'm gonna give you 15 years, but I don't think you're gonna get out in 15 years. Because she she knows that Mackenzie was not programmed to toe the line. That's not how she was raised, and she's already proved that in in prison. But if I was the judge, would still fear that somehow she would get that parole.
SPEAKER_01Right. Yeah, I as as the judge in a case as egregious as this, I would make sure that she got a proper sentence and make sure that it stuck just in case. Just in case.
SPEAKER_00Just in case. Nobody wants her out early. Let's talk about Rosie. Oh my god. Talk about five minutes of fame?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, she definitely just wanted her five minutes of fame. Like, of course, she was friends with McKenzie because McKenzie was just absolutely obsessed with becoming like a social media star or a model.
SPEAKER_00And Rosie says she wanted to be a model like B. Right, right. I mean, it's gotta be her five minutes of fame, but hopefully it's backfired because she seems to be one of the most hated people on the socials right now, and rightly so.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, she just seems like a completely vapid, no integrity asshole. So she's just like McKenzie.
SPEAKER_00She's turned off all commenting on her TikTok and her socials because she's getting such shit. So she wanted to be social media famous, but I think she's totally the wrong kind of social media famous now.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think that uh she has now learned a really difficult lesson, but obviously Mackenzie did not because while she was in the hospital, like a couple days after the crash, she was getting like brand deal offers and stuff, and her mom was on TikTok or whatever, like trying to set it all up. Like, oh, we'd love to work with you. She just killed two people. And what who are these brands?
SPEAKER_00Who are these brands that want a murderer modeling for them anyway? So that I can never buy from you. Ever. I mean, maybe at that point it wasn't common knowledge that she was being charged with anything. Maybe they honestly thought that she was like the fortunate sole survivor of a hideous accident. But still, wait till somebody's out of the hospital before you approach them if you are a brand.
SPEAKER_01Wait until you do know all the details. Like before you go into business. I'm not gonna go into business with somebody that was just involved in a multiple fatality car crash two days ago and they're still in the hospital. That's just fucking stupid. Out of respect, I'm gonna wait for them to fully recover. Right. And for the victims that died, Jesus. So there were reports that Mackenzie was jealous of Dom and Davion's friendship.
SPEAKER_00And I mean that tracks. I think she'd be jealous of anybody that had a any kind of relationship with Dom. Yeah. Apparently she was really close to Dom's mom. Really? Yeah. Hmm. But she it took her like three or four days to text Dom's mom and she sent her flowers and stuff.
SPEAKER_01Sorry, I killed your son. Here's some flowers. Like, fuck you. Here's some flowers. Can you just take my driver's license for 10 years and we'll call it a day? I think that she's a demon. I don't think that she has any regard for people and people's pain and people's feelings. So there were reports that she was jealous of that friendship, which, like you said, it absolutely freaking tracks because she seems like that type of person. Like she wants all of your attention. And if not, then I'm gonna raise hell over it. And in her case, I'm gonna kill people over it. I'll just kill you. Um and the last thing that I have is the jail phone call. She was talking to one of her friends about, like, oh my God, I can't believe that they actually convicted me and like I'm in prison and I shouldn't be here. And she literally said, I want Kim Kardashian to be my lawyer and get me out of jail. And her friend's like, Oh yeah, I'm totally gonna hit her up. And Mackenzie's like, be sure to tell her that I only wear skims and I love skims.
SPEAKER_00So apparently Kim Kardashian does work with some innocence projects. Right, right. Because at first I was like, how is Kim Kardashian even related to helping her get out, be her lawyer? Obviously, she doesn't have a law degree. So I looked into it a bit further and she she does have some kind of innocent project.
SPEAKER_01Well, she wanted to be a lawyer, but she failed the bar three times.
SPEAKER_00So no comment. No comment. We're gonna be polite. So I guess she's looking for either help with the innocent project or worst case scenario, a sponsorship for Skimp.
SPEAKER_01Fucking I wear your skims in jail.
SPEAKER_00We need a new convict line for Skimps. So my last thing that I had, uh you got anything else? No. This is such a good closing point. She had she was wearing fluffy pink Prada slippers when she was driving. Right. And one of the Prada slippers was underneath the brake, and they wondered whether or not it had contributed towards the crash, and they came to the conclusion that it got jammed there after. But the the best moment I had watching the documentaries was when the male prosec prosecutor, I mean, he was awesome. He says literally, the devil wears Prada.
SPEAKER_01I did hear about the slipper, but I didn't know he said that. Isn't that great? Wow, love it. Whoever that prosecutor is, you go girl, boy, whatever. Still you go girl.
SPEAKER_00It was a great note to end on. The devil wears Prada, y'all. For real. Literally. Literally. All right. I know we're gonna have a lot of listener comments on this one because we've all got something to say about this hot mess. Tell us what you guys think.
SPEAKER_01We had like, I think one person say free Mackenzie, she didn't do it, but then we asked, What do you think happened? I don't think they replied, right? So if any of you guys think that she's innocent, like give us your take. We want to know legitimately what you think.
SPEAKER_00We legitimately want to know how you can take all of this evidence that we've just put out there and turn it the other way. Or is there evidence that we're missing that proves our innocence? Yeah. You know, I mean, I just don't see how everything that we've spoken about can be explained away. There's just too much.
SPEAKER_01No, there's too many dots that are connected, like uh that just point to her guilt. You would have to throw all logic out of the window, in my opinion, to believe that she is not guilty. But yeah, we we want to hear regardless. And if you think she's guilty, well, hop on the bandwagon and tell us about it.
SPEAKER_00And also tell us, do you think that she didn't consider her own life, wanted to take her own life, or kept her seatbelt on because she thought that she would survive the crash? Those are your three possibilities there. Did she think she was gonna survive? Did she hope she wasn't gonna survive, or did she not care?
SPEAKER_01Of course she wasn't suicidal. She wouldn't even eat a McChicken. What are you talking about? Probably because Prada don't make them. Oh my God. I'll have a McPrada. No. I don't think that's a collab we're ever gonna see. McDonald's and Prada.
SPEAKER_00I hope not because I like Prada. What a great bonus episode.
SPEAKER_01We hope that you guys enjoyed it. Let us know what you think on TikTok, Facebook. We will see you next time.
SPEAKER_00We'll see you on Friday. Don't forget to enjoy that extra free bonus episode that I accidentally slipped you. You're welcome. The staircase.
SPEAKER_01I think Betty Broderick is coming next Friday.
SPEAKER_00June 1st, the crash. June 5th, Betty Broderick. There we go. June 12th, Drew Peterson. Literally five days after this one, you're gonna get Betty.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00All right. So until next time. Be divas. Not deadly. Drive safely. Please. Bye. Bye.
