Chapter 12: Chao's Secret

Chao is hiding something from everyone, but Liam is going to find out what it is. Who really is he and what is his connection with Liam?

CHAPTER twelve Chow Secret In Wonderland, Liam and Molly lay in the grass together and stare at the clear blue sky. Liam asks, Can you tell me a joke? Okay, Molly replied. Knock knock. Who's there? Toby Toby who Toby or not to be? That is the question. Silence falls on them for a moment. That was such a lame joke, Liam laughed. It wasn't originally mine. I heard it from somewhere a long time ago. There's a pause. Liam Ever since we got here, I've been wondering who that panda is. His name is Chaomakenazi. Molly reflects on the unfamiliar name and replies. He's known for something, right? It seems like it, Liam said with an unconvincing tone. Let's find out who he really is. Liam stands and replies Sure. I was curious too, so let's do some digging. Immediately, Liam wakes up. It was still night, which Liam Marie knew. He slides out of bed and exits his room. As soon as he steps out, a cat sitting in the middle of the floor catches his attention. Liam approaches the feline and stands next to it. Charlotte demands Go to bed, Liam. Why is she out here? Liam thought. He says I have a question. Charlotte turns her head to him. Do you know anything about Chow? The panda? Why is that any of your concern? It seems like everyone knows who he is except for me. I want to know just like everyone else. Curiosity killed the cat. Unlike me, you don't have nine lives. Charlotte gazes back outside. You'll only end up hurting yourself. I recommend you mind your own business. Now leave, you're distracting me from keeping lookout. Liam obeys, but exits to the back of the palace. He walks onto a huge balcony and notices Holly leaning on the edge of a short fence. Liam approaches her and asks Why are you up? Holly replies I'm not sleepy. You? I can't tell her about you, Liam thought. Why not? Molly asks. It might spark a different conversation. That's fine. We want to know more about the panda, so so she might be the best we get. Okay, Liam answers Holly's question. I made up with Molly.

Holly shouted as she snapped her neck to him. Holly's smile triggers Liam's as he says Y yeah, it wasn't easy, but I guess I convinced him. That's good. So why are you awake? Liam was stuck. Didn't I just answer that question? He thought. Why are you talking to me when you could be talking to Molly? I wanted to talk to you about him. Did he tell you to? No, I just wanna let Holly interrupts. Cut the crap, Liam. She turns her body to him, firmly plants her feet on the floor, and asks Why are you here? Liam sighs and gives up the act, saying, I wanted to find out more about Chow. Do you know anything about him? Holly gazes up at the starry night sky, with the moon beaming a radiant blue light. She replies The answer will reward you with dangerous results. Chow is a very secretive person, if that's not evident already. He doesn't like his business being told, especially if he has never spoken to you. Liam frowns. I mean no harm. Holly darts her eyes at him and replies, Yeah, but he doesn't know that. Liam's face drops lower as he acts. Can't you keep it a secret between us? I didn't say I wouldn't tell you. Just know that he won't come after me for telling you. What? Why not? Liam yelled. Chow has deep respect for me. Holly smiled. I'm like his idol. No fear So? Do you want to know? I don't know what to do here, Molly, Liam thought. Molly replies in his head. Go for it, Liam. Don't you want to know who he is? I do, but it seems like it's none of my business. If he's a dangerous person, it is your business. He can't hold this against you because you wanted to learn more about him. We must do what it takes to survive now that we're on our own. Liam ponders on his words and thinks in reply. Yeah. Yeah, you're right. He breathes a sigh of relief and answers Holly's question. I'll take my chances. Holly turns to him and replies Okay. Chow was a part of a killer group called Dark Oblivion. Dark Oblivion? I never heard of them either, Molly said. Holly explains. Dark Oblivion was a merciless, money hungry gang. Roger Q was the leader of the group, but after Chow went to prison he took off. Nobody knows why. The gang was infamous for stealing large amounts of malloons and killing people if necessary. All twelve members are wanted by the regime, along with Chow now that he's broken out of prison. How'd he get out? Liam asked with a puzzled face. I don't know. You have to ask him, but I doubt he'll tell you. That's fine. Molly says. If he wants to be number one, you can't just replace the person on the list by killing them. You had to do an equal amount of crimes to them. Really? Liam asked and thought. Then there has to be another reason why he's going after him. Exactly. Little Liam's getting smarter, Molly said with a baby toned voice. Liam smiles and replies, Ew, don't do that. Should I ask? Hmm, good question. Sure. I don't see why not. Let's see if she tells us. Liam asks Holly. Why does he want to kill Raja? Something about giving himself a challenge before he dies. Like a bucket list. Liam smiles and replies Oh, okay. He walks back inside the palace. As he's walking inside, Charlotte whispers in Holly's ear. Isn't he a smart boy? He knew all the questions to ask you. That wasn't him, Holly said. Molly asked all those questions. By the way, you said that Ryan's DNA was linked to another human. Whose was it? Charlotte sighs. I don't know. The code wasn't telling me anything. When I asked her to spit, I could only see the kana type. That's so weird. This has never happened before. She's just tired. Tiredness doesn't affect a person's DNA. It affects their kana though. There's nothing to worry about, Holly. I'll check again in the morning. Okay. I hope you're right. Liam enters his room and sits on the bed. She lied, he thought. You saw it too, huh? Molly asked. Saw what? Through her lie? Liam lies in bed. One of them is lying. Either Chao doesn't want to be number one and just wants to kill Roger, or Holly is covering his true intentions. But why would she do that? Liam turns on to his left side and notices a window. He can barely see Holly, still looking at the moon. What am I so worried about? It really is none of my business. Meanwhile, Dane is in Chow's room. Chow sits on his bed while Dane asks Why are you here? Is that any of your business? Chow responded. I know what you're doing. Why are you going after Liam? Chow chuckles. So you know if this boy is the prophesied hero for the world, I want to test him out. That boy is wanted for murder, and he is a strong ally with him. Are you sure you could take him on? Then who am I? There can't be two heroes that will fulfill this prophecy, can there? Chao asks. Chao Makanasi. Dane thought wanted for theft. Murder. Conspiracy against the world regime. There's a reason why he came out here. If he's gonna kill Liam, I must warn Holly. He's too dangerous to have here. Dane smiles at him. I don't know. Have a great night. He reaches for the door, but Chow stops him by saying, wait. He freezes. Raja was a cult member before he became leader of Dark Oblivion. Is there a reason why you're hunting him? Do you know? Yes or no? Chow asks impatiently. No. Roger is very mysterious. I didn't know he was a cult member. Where'd you learn that from? Holly told me. Chow plainly said. He was a member of Sanctuary.

Another question. Where's Spider? Chow squints his eyes at Dane, who opens the door and replies with a smirk. I don't know anything about Dark Oblivion. He closes the door. As Dane stroll away from the door, he tells himself I need some air. He leaves the palace and descends the stairs. I need to protect Liam.

Liam slowly opens his eyes to see Frida staring back at him. Liam sits up in shock. What what are you doing? You scared me half to death. Frida laughs. You should see the look on your face right now. Why are you in my room? I was just checking on you. You know, like I always do. I should have known you were gonna do that. You did it all the time when we were younger. Are you excited for today? Kinda. Mostly nervous. About what? Liam stares off for a bit and asks Do you know anything about Chad There's a knock at the door. Who is it? Dane. I wanted to let you know breakfast is ready if you're hungry. Liam's stomach rumbles as he groans. Frida swings the door open and exits the room. In the center of the main room is a round table with four wooden chairs. A banquet of food stands on the table as Chow takes a seat. Liam dashes to the table, sits and ganders at the food. Pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs, and grits. His mouth waters, as Dane states, I didn't know what you guys were like, so I made a traditional breakfast. Frida sits and asks him. Where's Holly? Holly has some quick business to attend to, she'll be back shortly, he replied. Aww Frida sighed in disappointment. This is a good opportunity to get to know each other, Ryan said as she sat at the table. Liam's eyes stay fixated on the spread, as Frida smiles nervously and replies I already know enough. You do? Chow interrupted. Liam wakes up from his entrapment and slowly glances at Chow, who continues What do you know about me? The room gets silent. Molly scoffs. You're from Dark Oblivion. Chow smiles and replies From Dark Oblivion? I never worked for them. You're lying, Molly shouted. You were part of Dark Oblivion, but I'm guessing they betrayed you. You went to jail? Now that you're out, you're gonna get revenge. Am I right? Chow stands and exclaims No. I'm the last remaining member of my family. My goal has always been to kill Raja. I see you've done some research. I did. I know who you really are, Chao Makanazi. Chao chuckles in reply. Then you must die. Molly flips over the table. Dang stares blankly as the food falls slowly to the floor. All of my hard work, he thought. Wasted. I've been up since five o'clock fixing this food. Why? Why is this my life? The food hits the floor as the table flips above Chao's head and lands flat on the floor with the legs high up. Molly stands on the chair, foaming at his mouth as he stares at Chow, who says You must be Molly. Make a move, Panda, Molly threatened. I dare you. You don't scare me, Chow laughed. Not yet. In a moment I'll have you begging for mercy. You have knowledge that doesn't belong to you. So what? Chow makes a confused face at him and replies I know you got that information from Holly, but I also know that Holly warned you about the consequences. Nobody cares about the consequences. I had to do what I must to protect Liam. Is this how you protect him? By getting him in deeper trouble? Now I know who you are. A dangerous criminal with selfish intentions. Child chuckles at Molly and replies Selfish Chow gives a devilish smile. You haven't seen selfish. Dan runs out the back, approaches Holly, and tells her They're about to fight. Holly, we should do something. Holly ignores him and continues to stare down the mountain. Holly Holly replies, let them be. He cringes. What about the palace? Don't worry. The palace will be fine. My only worry is if Ryan gets herself killed. She's barking up the wrong tree going against Frida. It's not Frida and Ryan. Holly turns to Dane with a puzzled expression. It's Molly and Cho. She chuckles. Her chuckles slowly turn into intense laughter as she states, It's better if we stay out here for the time being, until things calm down. Back inside the palace, Chow commands Molly. Make a move. He shows his left cheek to Molly, who appears in front of him for the strike. Chow blocks his attack with his left arm and pushes Molly away. Molly lands on his feet and grinds his teeth as Chow says, You're weak. Welcome to the Author's Room. Chapter 12 Chow's Secret. So I made this chapter mostly about Chow. And in the original story, when I first wrote this story, this encounter did happen with Molly and Chow. Like they did get into a fight, but it wasn't clear on why they got into a fight. So I made it like Chow has the secret, he doesn't want anybody to know. And once Molly finds out, Chow now wants to kill him. But even before that, like Chow did not leave. Remember, Chow did not leave the palace because Molly has mixed hair. Well, Liam. Liam has mixed hair. But Chow also has mixed hair because in that sentence with he says, uh, then who am I? And Dane says, I don't know. Uh so that's evidence right there that Chow also has mixed hair. I didn't like say it, hey, Chow has mixed hair, Chow has mixed hair. It's it's implied. Um, but I'm telling you right now in the author's room that he does have mixed hair. And Chow is the main character for the third book when it comes out. So I'll reflect, I'll go back to this. This scene is important also in the third book. So I will go back to this scene and it'll come back to you, you know, when you're reading the third book. So Molly and Liam finally have their relationship better. There's a better relationship, better and better tag. They ask a bunch of questions to Holly, and Holly's telling him, Hey man, maybe you should not be doing this because Chow doesn't really want you to know. And she's and Liam's like, I don't care, just tell me. And so now Holly tells him uh that there's a there was a gang called Dark Oblivion, and that Roger Q was the member was the group, was the group leader of Dark Oblivion. And when Chow went to prison, he took off. Roger took off. So you can see like something happened between Chow and Roger. Chow has always, like he said, that's always been his target. Roger Q has always been his target from the beginning. Uh Sanctuary, remember that name. That is very important to the entire series. Sanctuary appears in this book later on in the book, but uh Sanctuary is more prevalent in the second book with another character, which will be an introduced in this book. So I know there's a lot of a lot of things, a lot of moving pieces, but just rem remember Sanctuary. Sanctuary is a cult. Alright. Holly is asking Charlotte, who is Ryan, right? Because you should be able to see it, see the DNA. And Charlotte is like, I don't see it, other than the conotype. That is it. Is very that is important. You can see a little bit of Molly's impulsiveness where uh he just flips over the table and he just causes a huge scene with Chow, which was not needed. So that comes up later.
