Welcome to two hypnotherapists talking with me, Denise Billen-Mejia, in Delaware, USA. And me, Les Roberts, in St. Helens, United Kingdom. This weekly podcast is for anyone and everyone who would like to know more about the fascinating world of hypnosis and the benefits that it offers.

Les,I'm a clinical hypnotherapist and specialist in working with children. Deni

Denise, And I'm a retired medical doctor and consultant hypnotist. We are two hypnotherapists talking.

So let's get on with the episode. I'm lucky if some people can remember my first name. And I've seen what you're doing.

That's it. That's it. It's Turkish, so not everybody can pronounce it.

And those that can't pronounce it can't remember it. You're indelible in my memory. So how about we ask, what do you like to talk about? What do you think people don't know enough about in the world of hypnosis? In the world of hypnosis? Well, obviously, probably street hypnosis is the thing I'm well known for and I like to talk about.

Do you use that as an entertainment for people? Do people pay you to do it? Or do you use it just to gain awareness in the area? I'd say all of the above. You're happy people pay you? I say no, no, no, no. The thing is, that's how I got started in this crazy business called hypnosis.

I always say the phrase, I have no intentions of helping people. Isn't that a terrible thing to say in a therapeutic professional way? Like most people, maybe even people listening in tonight or today, this afternoon, whatever. I used to watch it on TV and say, oh, they're just playing along.

This is not real stuff. I have four kids and way back 10, 15 years ago, 16 really, 16 years ago, they were younger and I used to do what I call silly dad magic. I would produce a coin from behind their ear, that sort of stuff.

Nothing I'd probably do to an adult or in front of an adult. It was just to sort of play with the kids. And when I saw something on TV, it was actually Darren Brown.

You know, and he when he's talking about his, he says showmanship, misdirection, psychology and magic. He doesn't even mention hypnosis in that list of I think there's one more item he mentions, but none of them are hypnosis. So I thought, oh, that's magic trick and I do a little bit of magic for the kids.

I'll do that for the kids. And when I looked into it, I realized it was hypnosis and not magic. So I got interested in hypnosis that way.

Just for one second. Had you been introduced to hypnosis before that? Just like most people watching TV and Scooby Doo, you know, people getting hypnotized. My first experience was olive oil being hypnotized through a window and floating down to the sea.

And that was like when I was four. That's a long time ago. 20 years ago.

It's a long time. But yeah, so I went on a training course just to learn inductions. And I thought, right, I need to practice this.

And I always say this phrase, you know, if you're lea
