Life isn’t random… it’s strategic.

In this episode, I break down how moving without thinking costs you more than you realize. A lot of us are reacting, chasing what looks good in the moment, not understanding every move has consequences.

Some opportunities are traps.

Some distractions look like success.

And every decision either positions you… or sets you back.

This isn’t about being perfect.

It’s about being aware.

Because once you start thinking ahead…

you start moving different.

Yeah yo, I remember I was like 13 years old, man. I used to play chess with this OG back down North Philly. I ain't really known him too well, but my OGs knew him. He was kind of like my OG OGs, if that makes sense. Super chill boy, quiet. But he was a gangster from what I heard. Ran around with the black mafia back in the day. If you know, you know. And this Saturday was like any other Saturday, man. I done lost four matches back to back. I'm sick. I'm like, OG, I can't leave like this. I gotta win at least one match. He started laughing, so we're playing again. I'm trying to make every move my best move. But every time I try to make a move, I hear Beans playing in the background. I'm like, man, who playing beans? But I'm focused though. But every time I try to make a move, the music gets louder and louder. The music got so loud to the point I felt like Beans had pulled up a chair and rapped his verse to me personally. You feel what I'm saying? I'm like, man, who the hell is playing beans this damn loud? All I see is a car pull up. All white beamer with the top off. Peanut butter interior. I goddamn, I'm from the mud. I'm so broke. I ain't know you could get a car with the top off. I didn't even know that was a thing. I'm thinking they jerked Main Man at the dealership. I'm like, why is Maine Cuz riding around with an incomplete wheel? But that's not my business. I'm focused. Somehow, somehow, main cuz starts making his way across the street. Him and OG start exchanging words. Now I hear him, but I don't hear him. But from what I do hear, he's talking greasy. Fuck out of here, old head. I do whatever the fuck I want to do. OG just chill. Calm. All he say, man, go ahead, young boy. Main cuz ain't hearing. I'll leave whenever I wanna leave. You ain't gonna make me leave. Fuck is you talking about? OG chilling. Still. All he says is, go ahead, young boy. Eventually, main cuz turn his back to me and OG. OG starts facing me. I'm looking at OG. I ask him, why you let that boy talk to you like that? He straight ignore me. Is it my turn? I'm like, yeah, it's your turn. He starts smiling. Yo, Cole, I love chess, man. Chess like the game of life. So we playing. And I'm like, what you mean, chess like the game of life? What you talking about? You say, Cole, in this game, every piece has a purpose, a function. Some pieces in this game are stronger than others, but watch this. When the game is over, regardless of how strong a piece may have or may not have been, they all go back in the same box. But the game is tricky, Cole. Because as a king, you can get tripped. And if you get tricked, then you trapped. And just like that, the game is over. Checkmate. I'm like, yeah, man, I can understand. I look at the board, I'm like, huh? Like my king is trapped. Like there's not a legal move that I can make. I'm like, how did this? OG, like, yo, Core, the game is over. Clean up. We out. I'm pissed. I get to putting the pieces back into the box. We walking home. I'm like, man, OG, what you talk about? Game, chess, life, peace. He like, core. You gotta understand this in life, right? Everybody has a purpose and a function. Right? My purpose right now is to be a grandfather. My function is to make sure I'm here for my grandkids. You feel what I'm saying? 40 years ago, my purpose was to be a gangster. My function was to lay down any man that opposed me. 40 years ago, that trick that young boy tried to work on me would have trapped me. Because 40 years ago, I would have killed that young boy right where he stands, talking to me like he don't love life. Core, the game ain't changed. The rules ain't changed. My purpose and my function changed. Call you can't afford to get tricked. If you get tricked, then you trapped. And once you trap, the game is over. Call play the win.
