Mary, did you know?
SPEAKER_00Hello, and welcome to Mary Did You Know the podcast.
SPEAKER_01How are we doing today? Good. We're back for another week. We are back, and we're tech we're really speaking from the somewhat distant past because we already so for our our our listeners, in case there's any crazy breaking news that is anything that we care about, we won't cover it today. Due to some vacation and and gallivanting, we're about a week behind, but we will get back on schedule.
SPEAKER_00Yes. So we are recording this. We won't tell you the extra. We won't tell you.
SPEAKER_01But we're we're we're about a week behind. It was it was a a bit ago. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just in case there's something crazy that happens, we will not be speaking on it. Yeah. Um, if they find Nancy Guthrie, we won't know. Still missing. That's crazy. And Savannah, she's like back to work. That's I mean, girl, that f that that FMLA is gonna only last so long. I know. Especially when they can't find the F.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Sorry, anyway. That's crazy. Sorry, that was that was that was crazy to say.
SPEAKER_00That was crazy to say.
SPEAKER_01Damn.
SPEAKER_00Damn. Um this week was busy. Busy? Busy, busy for both of us. I guess.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I bet I guess it's been a rehearsal. Yeah, but I guess like it gets in, I don't know. Sometimes like like you had like a couple events this week. Yeah. Whereas like that to me seems busier, whereas like I went to the same place I've gone to the for the past three weeks. So it was busy, but there's like the level of like routine that I think I'm in now where I'm like, oh. Yeah, you're kind of in like the flow state. Yeah, I'm like, oh, I have to I have to go to rehearsal now. Because you're running the show, right? Yeah, so now like my job is my job is easier now. I mean, like, we're you know, we're I'm still giving great notes, but uh yeah, we staged the show pretty quickly. So now um yeah, we're just in like runs right now. We had a designer run this week, it went very well.
SPEAKER_02Good.
SPEAKER_01Um and then we're off this weekend because we'll get into where we're getting to. Um and then we come back on Sunday night, and then we go through the week, and then we are our last day in the theater is a week from yesterday. Or in the week from yesterday. Oh wow. So it's all happening very fast. I know, yeah, because you open soon. May 1st. I know I was coming up. I was meeting with um Chris Kavanaugh, who's the the scenic and lighting designer, and the furniture that we're getting is like very cute. Like I laughed because one of the di the coffee table options was my coffee table. Like it was like the one I have in my home. Um, so we're getting some getting some cute, some cute furniture in the house. Oh, yeah, yeah. We love that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um the O's are killing me. I was fli in my mind, I was giving um that gif of um Bethany. Bethany.
SPEAKER_01Oh, very, yeah. Uh-huh. Oh, you tweeted that this morning. Yes. Where you were like, where you like put the wrong passcode in my watch and it opened anyway.
SPEAKER_00I was gagged. I literally put the wrong passcode in my Apple Watch. And it was just like, you know what? Unlocked. It's like close enough. I literally saw the numbers and I pressed it incorrectly and it said sure.
SPEAKER_01Um, obsessed. Uh oh, but and then the other thing I was joking with, Chris is like, I'm just bringing a bunch of like the set dressing stuff from my like house. Like all the books. I love that. Because I have this, I was like, I I own gay shit. Yeah. Like, yeah. And Kelly goes, Do you want like a do you want like a credit for like set dressing? I go, no, the credit could just say gay shit. Michael, Michael Gilbert, we'll call we act. Like that, like, like that's what I would like the program to say. Right. She did, we were having a good, a, a good laugh because about a year ago is when the Hedwig programs called me a He. Oh, that's one of my favorite stories. Just a Heathe on the run. It's so good. Um, she was like, Would you like to prove it? It does say he him. I go, thank you so much.
SPEAKER_00Um, I was like, sure. But also the fact that how many eyes saw that and said, sure.
SPEAKER_01Said seems about right. Could be. But again, hard to fight the heathe allegations in a stoned denim cake. Yeah. Really, really, really hard to fight them. A jape. A jape. Um, but yeah, the week. Anything from your week that was particularly notable?
SPEAKER_00It was just busy, busy with work. Um, and it was like because I had a lot of like work events, it felt like long extra long because I was working more hours.
SPEAKER_01And some of it was like you went there in the morning and when you stayed in there until like after hours. Yeah. Because you had your event later.
SPEAKER_00So that's just like a long day. Yeah, because we had my program on Wednesday morning, so I have to be in the office by like seven to set up. And then we had an event in the evening that went to like 5 30. So that was a long day. And then last night I was at UB North Campus for till like seven. And it's just correct.
SPEAKER_01And like, you know, I we we don't need to get into all this from like a HIPAA perspective. But there, you know, you had some like there was some like stuff this week where you were like up late for some medical shit, and it was just Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_00It was just like I mean, that's not really a secret. Um, we can talk about it. Yeah. So I took Josh to the ER. Um He's fine. In like yeah, he's fine. Um in like the middle of the night, and we were there till like 4 a.m. Um, he just had like a gastrointestinal virus or something, so he just like was throwing up a lot and um just in a lot of pain. So we went to the ER, everything is good. He got like medication and you know, he just felt better the next day, and now he's back to 100% a couple days later. But um, yeah, so being at the ER till 4 a.m. and then I literally texted my boss and I was like, Hey, so I'm at the ER right now. Um I'm fine, but I won't be coming in in the morning.
SPEAKER_01So but also for shareholders who are following along, we talked last, well, probably two weeks ago now about Paddington, and you did end up buying tickets at 4 a.m.
SPEAKER_00Oh my goodness, yes. I um I did buy tickets to Paddington um while I was in the waiting room because I was like, you know what? I'm gonna treat myself.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna treat myself while I'm sitting here at 3 a.m. waiting for an I think.
SPEAKER_00And really like treating us correct. Um yeah, so I'm seeing Paddington the musical while I'm in London. I had a question for you. I because we discovered like you just watched Paddington for the first time.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god. I've never watched Paddington. I tried to watch it. Bitch, how did you how did you watch it?
SPEAKER_00Oh my god, I downloaded that weird app that it's available on. It's like a family like TV app.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I was gonna ask because I Matt was laughing because I the other night I got home from rehearsal and I was like, I'm gonna watch Paddington. Um and I went to boot it up and I it was like it had you download all these free apps, and I go, I go, how how did Sean watch this? And he goes, Maybe he rented it. I go, Sean doesn't rent a thing. No. I go, I go, I go, I know if I know that Sean has seen a film, I know I can watch it for free somewhere. Yes. Um so you okay, so you just did one of the seven-day trials of like whatever those things are.
SPEAKER_00No, it's free. Like whatever app, I'll look it up after. It was something similar to that, but it was an app I've never heard of. Okay. And it literally, you can just stream like movies and TV and you don't have to it you just have to make an account. Okay, and then you can watch it, but it's free. Because I do want to watch Paddington, particularly now that I've heard it, Nicole Kimman has like a cunty bob. It is life-changing. Her bob, and just her in general. Like she's so good in the movie, but the movie itself is just so funny.
SPEAKER_01The woman who plays her part in the musical won the best supporting actress. Because she's like she's like the villain, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I I gather. Which makes sense about why she's not in Paddington too.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01Um, the th the third one is Paddington in Peru. Back to the homeland. They uh they wait, is that where he's from? He's from Peru.
SPEAKER_00He's a Peruvian bear. But isn't he like British? Well, he goes to London.
SPEAKER_01I'm not laughing at like I'm just laughing at the knowledge. Well, yes. Oh, I'm locked in. I'm locked in. Okay, so this makes I thought it was a little bit more like third sequel we go on vacation, we go on vacation. So he's going back to where he's from Peru.
SPEAKER_00So the premise of Paddington the First is like years and years ago, there was like a British explorer, probably a colonizer. Yeah, uh yeah. But probably probably a colonizer. Um but he's exploring Peru and he discovers this like uh this species of bear that has never been documented before. Okay. And that's documented. I know. Sorry. Anyway, continue. Um and like he kind of like teaches the bears to talk, and it's it makes sense in the world. Okay, yeah, I'm sure the bears can talk, and so they learn, they become friends with this British explorer, and he's like, Yeah, yeah, I have to go back to London, but like you're always welcome. Okay, and like come visit whenever you can. Um, and then they like later on they rescue Paddington. Yeah. Um, he's the it's this older bear couple, and he's technically he's not their son.
SPEAKER_01He's like no a few, no a few of those, sorry.
SPEAKER_00Okay, right. Um and so they like there's like an earthquake or something, and spoiler alert, if you're gonna watch Paddington, skip ahead, um the the papa bear dies. Oh, and so it's just Paddington and his aunt, and they're like, Okay, let's let's go to London because our home is destroyed. Um, and so they trek over to like the ship to to stow away on the cargo. Okay. And the aunt is like, I'm too old, I won't make the journey, so I'm gonna stay here, but you go and just like write back to me. Paddington home or like to London the lawn. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh, and that's why he shows up in the little okay, now I now I understand. Yeah, I know. Yeah, yeah, I okay, I I will tune in. I know of it. Sally Hawkins is in it. Do you know who she is? Yeah, yeah. She's not in the third one for some reason, but then they add Olivia Coleman as like a nun. So seated. Okay. Um, and then they they just screenlit the fourth one. So damn, I didn't think that the cinematic universe is going strong.
SPEAKER_00Listen, I had I knew nothing about Paddington until last week. And then your life was bitch. I am locked in. I still need to watch Paddington 2 because that's on HBO. People say people say it's the best movie ever made. And I will be sat for it.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, well, yeah. That that one you can watch on a streaming service we've heard of. Yes. Yes.
SPEAKER_00Um, this is none of this is what we wanted to talk about today, but the conversation is riveting.
SPEAKER_01This was critical. Um but we should get into the conversation. So we wanted to talk about some some new music drops.
SPEAKER_00Yes, yes, because we love new music Fridays.
SPEAKER_01Uh-huh. The first being Miss Oh, I'm wearing I'm wearing her shirt, Miss Olivia Rodrigo. Yes, yes, yes, yes. This is the show I got a gov ball after it was pouring rain. Oh my god, love. I was like, I just need a new shirt because my shirt is so gross. Yes. Um, yeah, she her single Drop Dead came out today from the album that I cannot remember the name of because it's very long.
SPEAKER_00You look so pretty for a girl so much in love.
SPEAKER_01Something like that. Something like that.
SPEAKER_00But yes. Um So her Is it it's her first single from that album. Yes, the debut single of the debut single that came out of that album. Um also, did she release the music video for it? Yes. Okay. I haven't seen the music video, but I haven't seen the music video? I saw like the clips that she posted of her like writing. You seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. You seem pretty sad for a girl so in love.
SPEAKER_01That's a lot of words. We went from I do think it's a little funny that we went from sour to those to all the words. Yeah. To every single letter. Yeah. Um I'm very, I'm very into it. It was not what I was expecting. Yes. It was a little bit more um at first chill. It almost It's one of those songs that on paper shouldn't work. Yes. Because the verses are different. And then it like the the sort of like the backing becomes a sort of like euphoric thing that doesn't necessarily but I kind of think it works.
SPEAKER_00I do too.
SPEAKER_01But it doesn't, um, if you told me that on paper, I would be like, no.
SPEAKER_00Right, right. And I really like it because I think it has a lot of like the classic Olivia Rodrigo sound and like I guess musicality to it, but it seems like elevated. It sounds like grown from her previous albums.
SPEAKER_01And it does not sound like the last two albums. Because that like there is, and I think also might be why she did the album title change. You could argue that Guts is just a continuation of Sour. Yes. It's it's Sour also, she kind of like released. There's a world if driver's license doesn't blow up as big as it does, that sour doesn't really exist and it's like an EP. Yeah. It's like a five-song EP. It's yeah, and then she releases Guts as this like longer, really. Like debut album. Yeah. So those are very like similar to me, like Fame, Fame Monster situation. This feels like a different sound. Yes. And it's exciting. Yeah. And also her lead, like my favorite songs from those albums are never the first song. Right. So if I like this song, like Vampire's great, far from my favorite song on Guts. Yeah. So if I like this song, like great. Amazing. That means I'm probably gonna dig everything else that's about to come.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Um, is she going on tour?
SPEAKER_01She hasn't announced it yet, but people think, I mean, I imagine the tour is imminent. People also think that she might end up being Coachella next year. Um which would make sense. I could see that. Yeah, I could see that. Um we saw her at Gov Ball. Yeah, because she she was the headliner for GovBall, wasn't she? She was, yeah. The day like the day that we were there. She was like, she was the the headliner. I think it was the Friday. Um and I mean I imagine because it's Ben, like and she did Bonnaroo, didn't she? Well, she was supposed to. She was supposed to, but she was scheduled. Yes. Because I remember we thought it was so strange that there was no music out. Yes. We were like weird that you're doing the music festival circuit with no music. Yes. Like it's a fashion show with no fashion. Um it felt like a little strange. Uh-huh. Um, but I'm very I'm very into it. I love I love the way that the chorus, like, they're like dun dun, like it's got the sort of like seesaw thing. Yeah. And then like it just is so good. Also, the music video is just filmed in Versailles, which is crazy. I was asking my husband, they go like, can people do that? And he was like, I mean, yeah, it's not like a it's not like a holy place, so there's no like weird religious rules. But I will say, when you watch the music video, do you know when things almost look like too crisp?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Like it the beginning of it looks like it almost looks too real. Okay. I don't know how to describe it. When you watch it, you'll understand what I mean. It looks like the nicest iPhone camera in the world, so it's almost too clearer than your eyesight. Yeah, it's a little bizarre at first. Well, it starts with this very like sort of like psychedelic thing, but once it gets into like the zoom in of her, um uh, but it's really and there's a couple weird, like at one point where she's like, and then then the side, the camera just like pans up to like a statue and pans back down. I'm like, okay, girl, we didn't, we didn't like and that's not on her, that's on whoever directed the the music video. Yeah, but um the best part the end of it through like the the bridge of the chorus is her just running through the gate, like the grounds of Versailles, and it just like look and it's like at nighttime, it just looks gorgeous. Yeah. So yeah.
SPEAKER_00But good for her. She ate that. Um, I thought I heard a rumor that I don't believe this, but Taylor might be featured on one of her songs.
SPEAKER_01There's no world. There's no world. When's the last time that Taylor has been on an album of someone who wasn't a man? Gracie Abrams on their album. Gracie Abrams. Oh, you're right. Us. Oh, yeah. Well, she had to she she had to do charity work there. Um yeah, I guess you are correct. I guess that, but is that the only one in the last like I don't know. Because like she she'll have women on her on her albums, but like the only other albums I can think of that she's been on are like she's like done a song with like the national for like the Destiners, or like done like I don't think she's even been on like a bleacher song. It's rare that she does it, but I could see it. I could see it.
SPEAKER_00And like what that would be like a gag of the center.
SPEAKER_01And they've been like photographed together recently.
SPEAKER_00They've been which like may might be why people are speculating that this might happen because that would really stop the world if she was featured on an Olivia Rodrigo song.
SPEAKER_01I've been thinking a lot recently of um the Taylor Swift wedding and not in the way you think. I've been thinking about it because there's going to be this combination of people. Because like Lena Dunham just put out a book, which I'm very excited to read, and like in that she basically implies like her and Taylor are still close, which doesn't shock me because like private, close, like it's a private friendship. They're not like out there displaying it to the world. But like Lena writes about like calling her and you know talking to her about stuff. But her and Jack Ant Lena Dunham and Jack Anstinoff were married for like 10 years, uh-huh. Um, and they've been divorced now for like a while, but um they're good, and like so Jack Antonov will clearly be at the wedding. Yeah, Lena Dunham will be at the wedding. Yeah, one of his Taylor's best friends is Zoe Kravitz as well, who is dating Harry Styles. That's what I mean, like these combinations of people. I just gotta have a couple questions for how for how that's gonna go. But um, anything else on the on the Olivia song?
SPEAKER_00I mean, we don't have much right now, so it's really just the song. No, I'm I'm I think it was a great single to lead with. I think it's leaving us hungry for more. So I think it was a good decision, and I like her sound and I'm excited.
SPEAKER_01It's it's June. Oh, it's June. It's the same, it's the same day that the RuPaul movie comes out. Oh stop that train. Yes, yep, yep, yes. It's gonna be uh, yeah, so it comes out that day. Okay, which is also the rumored Taylor Swift wedding weekend. Oh, June 13th. June 13th, I've ever seen it.
SPEAKER_00Now there's also a new song that was released today. There is um by Demetria Lavatra.
SPEAKER_01Demetria Lavatra. Yeah, I'm excited. I listened to that one I um just listened to like an hour ago because I had just like my my work day had been like um crazy. I liked it. Yeah, what's it called again? Um Low Rise Jeans. Yes, Low Rise Jeans. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Which is the thing. Which we don't which we don't support in theory, but I support the song.
SPEAKER_00Yes. Um she actually like debuted it last week at her the opening night of her tour. Oh, yeah. Um and basically announced that it was her new song.
SPEAKER_01That's what I saw. I was looking at the song, but it wasn't released yet. I was looking at the set list um for another question that you had because I couldn't remember what was on it and what wasn't, and I saw that I saw that it's on there. Yeah. Um, so she also just opened her tour recently. That's the other thing I didn't realize that it had just started. I thought it had been going, I I thought it had maybe had been on for like a month. I didn't realize it's been like a week. No, we're seeing the third show. That's crazy. Because she just had one last night.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was it was Orlando, DC, and then for which I guess she walked out of DC and said, Hey Orlando. I heard. I saw that. Oh, diva. Um so shareholders to catch you up. We are going to see Demetria Lovato tomorrow. Tomorrow in Philadelphia. Um, we are seeing the It's Not That Deep tour. Which gray album. Great, great album. Um, so good. So there's a section in her tour where she kind of does like a surprise song, which obviously it's pre-planned, and she does this thing with the audience where they pick like an envelope from a bag and then they open it and it has a number on it, which corresponds to, I guess, like the outfit that she's going to wear, which correlates to the era of the song that she's gonna do. All those envelopes got the same fucking number on it. I think so. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Of what she's planned for that for that evening.
SPEAKER_00Yes, yes, because um she posted a video on Instagram today of her sound check of Don't Forget, which was the surprise song from last night. So it's like clearly you can't it's not like Taylor is doing it where it's just her playing piano. Correct. There's a little it's there's so much that goes in.
SPEAKER_01It seems like from the clip I saw, there's it's a little bit more production in the song.
SPEAKER_00So she has to like she has to tack her. Night one was with Joe Jonas because she did um the song from Camp Rock. This is This Is Me. Yes. Um, and of course, like that can't be by chance because if someone picks a different number, it's like, well, Joe's just sitting back.
SPEAKER_01Selena Gomez was there. Yes. What was a crazy amount of events happening at once?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah. So I'm excited. So we wanted to talk about like what our hope is for the surprise song for our concert tomorrow. Um do you want to go first?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'll go first because I feel like you, and this is not this is no shame. I feel like I know a lot of Demi Lovell. I'm very I'm very excited. Uh I know you know some of those like slightly more deeper cuts.
SPEAKER_00Like I've been a fan for a very long time.
SPEAKER_01I think that album it's it's good. The one she is called Holy Fuck.
SPEAKER_00Holy fuck? Yes. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But like that's one that like I've listened to, but like I don't know like in an album. I don't think she's doing much from that.
SPEAKER_00No, she's not there's not a song about that on the set list.
SPEAKER_01Meaning that like there's you probably have more exciting options of songs that you but you want to hear. I, which I also have to tell after this, I have to tell the shareholders about the last time I saw Demi of the Battle. Have you have you ever seen her? I don't think I have seen her live. I've seen her twice, and I will have to explain. Wow. Um the one more in depth than than than the other. So I was like, what are songs, like what is a song that I would want to hear? And so I went back to the album that has Skyscraper on it. Oh, yes. Do you remember the song Fix a Heart? Yes. That song is fucking and it's like it's like a little bit kind of of like a ballad, uh-huh. But I was like, that song would be so good. Yeah. Um, that's the first, I think that's the first time I saw her was that era. I sorry, kiss the um Kissmas Bash.
SPEAKER_00Not Kissmas Bash.
SPEAKER_01Because NU used to be a sponsor. I love that. Because they would give us tickets.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01Um, so yeah, that would that would be my option. What would what would your option?
SPEAKER_00So what I really want to hear is a song from Holy Fuck, um, Dead Friends, or um City of Angels. Okay. Those are really good. I don't think she's gonna do that only because she's I think like that album She seems to be avoiding that era altogether. And same with um like Dancing with the Devil. Like, I don't think she's doing anything from that because that was such a she seems to be doing more uh nostalgic pieces. And there's a theory that every like she's going in order of her Which would be this oh no, we wouldn't have to be No, it would be because the first she did Camp Rock, which was like her debut. Yes, not her album. And then she did the She did Don't Forget Don't Forget And I think Here We Go Again might be next. Oh, which I'll play a little. Wait. Okay. You've heard this. Yeah, 100%. Because this was like the big hit from the Yeah, this was like the big Is that what the album's called as well? Yeah, here we go again. Okay. Oh okay. It's so good. Okay, yeah, I'm gonna if she meant to add that to the I will be so happy.
SPEAKER_01Because I'm gonna I'm gonna play the set list in the car tomorrow for just so I can refresh. So I'm gonna I'm gonna have to put that one on there. Oh, yeah, because then the next date would be the what's the what's the album called that has skyscraper on it? Unbroken. Unbroken, yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, okay, yeah. Those are good options. I need to also discuss because I know we also wanted to talk about some of our favorite songs of hers the first time I saw her. Or sorry, the second time I saw her. So the first time was Kiss Kissers Bash. It was like her, Jason Darulo. It was like right when skyscraper came out. So that was like what she did. Yeah. The second time is where I saw her on a group on. Not a group on. It was a group on. Uh Tyler Brown and I um went to the Honda Civic Tour featuring Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas.
SPEAKER_00Wow. Was it the Demi? It wasn't their. Yeah, it wasn't their tour.
SPEAKER_01It was the Honda Civic Tour featuring. Because we were seated. It was like, do you remember where we sat for Dualipa? We were sort of like front-facing view of the whole place. Yes. It's basically where we sat at Key Bank. Is that what it's still called? Yeah. Yeah. And there was a fully lit Honda Civic like on the ground. Like more lights on the Honda than Demi. I love that. Because they were sponsoring the tour.
SPEAKER_00I love that.
SPEAKER_01Um, but she ate down. That was uh it was the um, I think it was the when did the confident album come out?
SPEAKER_00That was 2015.
SPEAKER_01Yep. So that was the album she was um out there touring, which is a great bunch of songs. Yes. And she did Skyscraper on the piano and Nick Jonas played it. Oh. And he started in the wrong key. And she literally was like, What are you doing? I'm dead. And I was like, But we were wasted and we paid $25. That's crazy to see Behda Civic tour.
SPEAKER_00Remember when tickets were affordable?
SPEAKER_01That's why when I was like, I saw it for free, then I paid $20. And this ticket wasn't that expensive. I was like, What do you mean I paid a hundred dollars? Right. I was like, I'm used to I'm used to seeing this diva on discount. Yeah, but I am excited. Yeah. Um, so what so wait, so you've never seen her, you said? I don't think I've ever seen her live. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, you asked me what my three favorite songs were. I wanna I want to ask you first. Yes. Okay, so I think this might be kind of a hot take, but the album Demi came out in 2013, and this came out like you you know, last episode we talked about like albums being very formative and like, you know, wherever you were in life. This is like means something different. This was me not only in college, but in my first summer stock contract at a theme park in Erie, Pennsylvania. Oh gosh, where I was there for four months doing eight shows a day. She got you through. Yes.
SPEAKER_01I didn't know you did that. Yes. Oh girl, Diva. It was what were like the themes? Did you have like a country western show?
SPEAKER_00We did four shows twice a day. One was a country, which we actually did like a fierce Taylor Medley. How which I need to like find the video of it because like bitch, I was getting my life. Um, the second show was like a TV theme song throughout the decades show, which was actually kind of fun. I like that. I'm into that. The third was like a pirate puppet show. Don't like that. And then the fourth was like uh like a the the mascots of the theme park was Wally and Wendy Bear. So they were bear costumes and what's the name of this theme park? Waldemir.
SPEAKER_01Okay, anyway. Um please please please.
SPEAKER_00Listen back to your songs. So I would say honestly, my number one song might be Nightingale from Demi. Okay, because it is it's a it's like a ballad, but like bitch, the backing, the music, like the instrumentation. Listen, and the one thing she's the one thing she's always gonna do is serve you vocals. Yeah, and then I will say my number two song is probably City of Angels from Holy Fuck, just because it is it's like it's a fucking bop. It's a bop. Um, and then I think my third might be from her newest album. Um, it's called Sorry to Myself, which she does.
SPEAKER_01Literally, that's it's her second last song. Yes. Um, that's literally on mine. It's so good. That is so my my list is not as fun because it's just more like vibes, like when I just think of her. Like I put I put my third one, I put skyscraper just because I've seen it, I've seen it twice, and and and each time she sings down. It's a fucking one. She sings down, it's incredible. The second one I put was sorry to myself because it's it's I love a song like that. It reminds me, not in really you're gonna give it it reminds me spiritually of something like dancing on my own. Yes, where it's got energy, it's pulsing, but it's also means something. Yes, and it's like singing. And she's still kind of singing as well. Like yeah, it reminds me of that. And then I put cool for the summer, number one. Listen when that song comes up. Take me down to your paradise. Yep. Don't be scared. Yeah, because I'm your body type. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00It's a bop. It's good.
SPEAKER_01So that's just wasn't it? It was a drag race finale song, I think, at some point. Was it? It's just an incredible song. So yeah. Um, but yeah, where I'm very excited to see Miss Demi.
SPEAKER_00Yes, being here tomorrow. And um very excited. Yeah. So we're gonna take a break.
SPEAKER_01Be right back. And we're back. This is very good. This is a we sort of took a gamble based on what we try. It was also making me realize at some point I should just like, I should bring something. We always film this in your house. I feel like I should bring some booze. But um it's a was it a whiskey?
SPEAKER_00Okay, yes. But it's a it's it's a whiskey and Diet Coke, but the whiskey that we're drinking is Jim Beam red stag black cherry, which, like we were saying on its own might be repulsive, but this kind of tastes like a cherry Diet Coke. With the Diet Coke, it tastes like cherry coke. It's great, and it actually is quite tasty. I'm I'm I'm enjoying it. Um okay, so now we want to talk about some uh kind of recent news that has been circulating the Bravo Sphere. We've been pretty light on Housewives recently because it's kind of been like a weird time where there hasn't been that much happening. So we're gonna talk about Housewives. And if you're a shareholder who doesn't like Housewives, I'm so sorry. But you know what? We tricked you because it's the second segment. So just keep listening because you'll like it.
SPEAKER_01Should we start with the the Lisa Hoxtein? I think we have to. So Lisa Hoxtein, who has been a real housewives of Miami from the from before the reboot, she was on, I think, at least two seasons. I mean, she's been on the full reboot until it's now on pause again. Um and in the first, in the first uh when the show was on the first time, she was married to this guy, Lenny Hoxtein, who's a very famous plastic surgeon in Miami. Yes. And when the show came back, she had gotten divorced from him. Or was the divorce happened?
SPEAKER_00She was like in the process of I think she was still with him for that first.
SPEAKER_01And it was happening as that occurred. Because I remember there, like the There's all the the footage of him on the mic at their at their house saying shit. Yes, yes, yeah. Maybe they were fully together for that. They were because remember she she makes him do like that weird date night. I I remember this now. Okay. Yeah. So she was dating, which the irony of this is her and her ex-boyfriend now, they're not even together anymore.
SPEAKER_00That's crazy.
SPEAKER_01Are ch have espionage charges for spying on Lenny by putting a listen a recording device in his vehicle.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And then she has since turned herself in, but she was on the run for like the lamb for like 28 days.
SPEAKER_00Yes. That's crazy. That was Canadian immigrant on the lamb. And here's the thing: like, I was pissed when I found out that they put Miami on pause to begin with, just because like it's a good show. It serves so much more of a half of the bullshit that we still watch. Yes. And like, I don't know what the decision making was behind that, but like there's so much going on in the Miami girls' lives that like we want to see. And now that this is happening, I'm like, I hope Bravo feels fucking sick to their stomach about making that decision.
SPEAKER_01Did you see um Alexia and Adriana at the courthouse? No. Oh my god, it's literally them in like workout gear. And they're like walking to the courthouse and it's like TMZ, and they're like, Oh, like, why are you here? And they're like, We are here to support our friend Lisa. I'm obsessed. It's literally them, and then like Alexia keeps walking because she has some some good sense, and Adriana just wants to be on TV. Yeah. And so she turns and she's like, We are concerned for her children. And they go, She have she has she has a small kid, she goes, he has two small kids, and then walks away. But my first thought was like, How small are they anymore? I know they're probably like number number one, they're like almost ten. Yeah, girl, come on. But which they are that's still a small child, but the fact that Jody and her, you know she's gonna try to pin this on him. Oh, of course. But you know how they figured out it was them?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they heard her voice being like, Got it, I'm done. After installing it.
SPEAKER_01She's never been a smart criminal.
SPEAKER_00No, no.
SPEAKER_01But like, I'm so bummed we're not gonna see this play out.
SPEAKER_00I know, and that's why I'm like, pick up the damn cameras, pick them up. Let's even just do like a one-off. Yes, like a special.
SPEAKER_01But I think, honestly, I feel like what's not getting enough press about why they got paused is that like Alexia is back with Todd, and Todd sued the network. Do you think that's why they paused? I think that's got some, but like to me, I say they just get rid of Alexia then. Yeah. I I like Alexia, but there's I do think that you could form a show necessarily without her, or at least try to.
SPEAKER_00It'd be tough only because like she is Miami. She is gonna be. She's like the Teresa of Miami. But if her husband's suing the network, what are we supposed to do? I know, I know. I just wish you would leave that man. I think that I yes, I agree. Just don't be with that man. All of that shit that happened with her son where he was like threatening to beat him up. I was like, this is crazy.
SPEAKER_01But I feel like that, yeah, and the issue is you probably like at that point then Marisol shouldn't be on either. But I do think that there's I think there's a if you bring back Nicole with Stephanie from last season, yes, with Kiki full time, yeah, with Lisa, Larsa, and Adriana, yeah, I think there's some magic there. We don't need to have Gertie or um what the fuck is her name? Uh lesbian with the goats. Um Julia. Julia. We don't need to, like I we don't even remember her name. I don't even remember her name. And she's been on for a while. Yeah. Um yeah, but it's just a bummer about Miami. And it goes to what I know what we also wanted to get into, like, but I think part of it is that audiences are stupid because and yes, we're included in this. We're included in this is that we're watching both, but we have taste, so we know what's good and bad. Yes. Beverly Hills is still the most watched housewipes, and that's the problem, is that I feel like like Miami's ratings are bad.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I feel like that is like Salt Lake f famously, I guess, is the strongest performer on Peacock. Like, even if it's even if its ratings aren't great on TV, it does crazy numbers online. So they keep they keep it going because it's it's ultimately still worth it.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01I don't I think the issue is I don't think Miami was doing the numbers online either.
SPEAKER_00It all de it also depends on like the day of the week that it's on. You know what I mean? Like the reason I'm able to watch Beverly Hills, or the reason why I watch Beverly Hills, is because it comes out it airs on Thursday nights. I watch it on Friday because I'm working from home. So it's like if it was on a Tuesday and was available on Wednesday, I wouldn't watch it because I don't care about it.
SPEAKER_01Correct, yeah. It's it's I also still can't believe it's still happening. I simply thought it was like, are you up to date? Yeah. So I thought it was maybe because I'm just used to how they've been doing it for Salt Lake, where they've just been like ending on the trips. Yeah. I thought that that big blow up in Italy was just going to be the finale. Then I thought the Rachel's party was going to be ended. And then there was another episode. Then I thought Dorit's book launch was the end. There's still one more this week.
SPEAKER_00No, there's not. Yes, there is.
SPEAKER_01Yes, there is. But did you oh, I watched it today. Oh, I haven't watched yet.
SPEAKER_00Sorry. Oh, okay. Yes, yes.
SPEAKER_01Yes, I see. But like I thought, which, yeah, I because I've seen I've seen the clip of Jennifer Tilly being like, I have a Louis Vuitton event. And everyone was like, Can we go to that event instead?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. I mean, not to spoil it for you, but it's again a bunch of the same bullshit. They're at another party. I will say though, I think it's Kathy Hilton's.
SPEAKER_01I will say Dory picked the wrong one because Erica. Fuck it. Wait, we also need to discuss this. I want to go see Erica. We have to have this conversation. Yes. We talked about this date. I looked at tickets.
SPEAKER_00They're kind of crazy expensive. And like you weigh the can't you go on like the lawn? Yes, but we'll talk about this after. Okay, sorry, sorry. Yes, but no, because the lawn, it's at I forget where it attacked. It's at um it's in Saratoga. They have lawn seats, but the theater is like you can't see the stage from the lawn. They have like a big screen. Oh. Because like the there's a balcony which blocks the view of the stage from the lawn. So what the fuck is the point? That's why I was like, I'm not I'm not driving all the way out there to sit on the lawn.
SPEAKER_01We'll chat about this and see if there's there was there was another one that was clo that was like three hours away. Yeah. Because I would like to see Miss Erica Jane. I know I do want to see. And she's not DJing, she's performing, yeah, which is different. Yeah, I don't want to watch a DJ set. Yeah. Anyway, sorry. So um, but she she Darit's picking the wrong one because Erica has the time.
SPEAKER_00Yes, yes. And I I Erica finally clocked in. She was giving friend of the entire season and finally clocked in at the end of the season, but it's because of Derit. And like, I'm just so over the Derit Kyle drama. Like, it's just it's it's boring to me.
SPEAKER_01And I was on Derit's side for one year, and now they both annoy me. They're both annoying. That's why I like that we've got Erica because she's the only one to me that makes sense in it, where she's like, You're both my friends, can we just fucking stop?
SPEAKER_00But it's like every conversation that they've had this entire season has been the exact same conversation over and over again. And I'm just like, I can't watch this anymore, and I don't understand why they're just let like Well, have you seen the clip from the reunion?
SPEAKER_01Yes. Where they're like, Kyle controls who who gets to say on this show and not. Yeah. And the rumor is that that's very true. Because Alex Baskin is the primary producer of Beverly Hills, and him and he is like best friends with Kyle and Kathy. I I would believe it.
SPEAKER_00Did you see that? Like they like kicked Kim out of like another house? Yes. There's like they're going to court or something. Like Kyle sued her. I wonder how like Kathy and Kim used to be very close.
SPEAKER_01I wonder if that's still the case. Yeah. Because it seems, I don't know, seems a little sus. I know. But yeah, I want I love Rachel Zoe. Love Rachel Zoe. I even I thought Sutton had a decent season. Yeah. She does Bose.
SPEAKER_00Bose is one of my faves.
SPEAKER_01Bose grew on me. Last season I was like, uh, and this season, the first half of the season, she was like simply just interrogating everybody. We like joke that she was like Barbara Barbara Walters. But the second half, I also this is gonna sound so mean. Is it weird? But I felt that some of the fertility stuff seemed like at first I thought it seemed forced, and then as they showed more of the relationship, I realized it was real. Yes. If that cause sometimes I feel like we see these things that are fake.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01And at first I wasn't sure if it how real it was, but that the engagement scene was beautiful. It was, it really was lovely.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. But Beverly Hills was just a flop this entire season. And like Amanda, I Amanda sucked.
SPEAKER_01I just it's it's like a no for me on her and um who is Natalie? Who is Natalie? I said you have more Instagram followers than she does. I do. Which I love. Yeah. Yeah, so it's just like not hitting. Um, but and I hope they make some. I always think I I always want them to make cast changes, but I don't I never think they actually will.
SPEAKER_00I know. I feel like Beverly Hills is it's too precious to them for whatever reason, so I don't think they're gonna make any major changes.
SPEAKER_01One last thing, had you seen these rumors that Kyle had filmed a quote unquote farewell scene as part of Ultimate Girls Trip. There were these rumors at first that were saying that like at the end of Ultimate Girls Trip that Kyle filmed a scene that could potentially be used as like her send-off for the show if she did if she like didn't want to do it anymore. But Vicky just was on her podcast saying, like, I don't know what the fuck they're talking about. She goes, that did not happen. Like she simply did not film that.
SPEAKER_00I also feel like with the season that they had, Kyle would never leave to give Dorit that satisfaction. You need to leave on a high.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's the same reason why Travis Kelsey's deciding for some unknown reason he wants to play football for three more years. It's like you don't want to end up, you don't want to end on a flop. Right. Um speaking of not flops, yes, the Real Housewives of Rhode Island premiered. Yes.
SPEAKER_00And I gotta say, they're eaten down. I love it. I think it's a great franchise. I want opening six more seasons of Liz and Alicia specifically. Yes. Those women, bizarre. And the why the the the reason why it works is because they are so bizarre and because they are characters. And they're friends.
SPEAKER_01I love that it feels Matt was watching some of the the the uh I think it was the second episode when they have the like um dinner where they write stuff down.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh, and he said something, he laughed at something, and he's like, Oh yeah, they're funny. And I was like, Yeah, would you believe this is episode two? Because it feels like the second season. Yes. Because they're not being it's not like New York where they force a group of people together.
SPEAKER_00It feels like we have to like get to know each other. It feels authentic. Yes, yeah. Um, who are your favorites so far?
SPEAKER_01Um I I mean Liz. I but like because Liz is Liz is like Dolores. Yes so Liz is that sort of thing. I like Alicia a lot because I love um it sounds right, like I love a dumb bitch. Like she just doesn't seem like she's the most intelligent person in the world.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I am unfortunately very into Kelsey. Are you? You know what? You know what? You better have a sugar daddy and a hot boyfriend. He showed up to that party and I said, Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So for the shareholders who don't watch Rhode Island yet, um, Kelsey is in a relationship with this guy who is loaded and he's not even on the show. No, because they won't even show his face. Yeah, because he has another girlfriend who lives in Florida, Miami, Florida. So he spent half of his year in Florida and half of his year in Rhode Island, and he has two girlfriends that they're okay with.
SPEAKER_01And here's how we and here's how we reboot Miami. We get that girl on. Yes, that's how we reboot Miami. Um, and then she's dating someone else, which I love all the to-do on the first episode about like they're also they're all they're all like they're talking about like polyamory and all this stuff, but like then she you you meet her, you meet her girlfriend on like or her girlfriend, you meet her boyfriend on like episode three, so it's like were we really hiding this? Right, yeah. I also like the girl from The Bachelor, but I feel like we just don't know her enough.
SPEAKER_00I don't think she understands yes how to do housewives just yet.
SPEAKER_01And also, like her husband is like that's like a gay man, Mama.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah. That is a gay man. Because they met on The Bachelor, right? Like, yes.
SPEAKER_01He he was a bachelor, yes, and she was a contestant. No, no, they met on Bachelor in Paradise.
SPEAKER_00They both were contestants?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they both were contestants at different seasons. They met.
SPEAKER_00She was a bachelorette, he was a bachelor. And they met on Bachelor in Paradise. That's crazy.
SPEAKER_01So also, like, not her entire plot line with that man the last episode would be like he was fat as a child.
SPEAKER_00Damn.
SPEAKER_01So no one really ever loved him. Like that was her that was her entire thing with him. Damn. Who do you who who are you enjoying? I got this might be a hot time. I was gonna say there's only one person I don't I don't like say it. I like Joe Ellen. Oh no, I like Joel. Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_00I don't like I don't like Rosie. I don't like Rosie. Well, I don't mind Rosie. I I don't love her. Jo Ellen's bold.
SPEAKER_01Joe Ellen to me has sort of like She's necessary. She has like Lisa Barlow energy, where it's like Well, Lisa Barlow when she started. Yes. Like it's gotten a little bad now. But it's like where like she's just gonna say what she says and she doesn't really care what you think. And you need it's a little bit like Bethany too, like you need people like that that are just willing to speak their mind.
SPEAKER_00It's also crazy because like because this is a new franchise, they all like kind of have jobs. And so like the drama with Jo Ellen's job being called by Rula and her husband. Rulala? Yeah. Is okay.
SPEAKER_01Do you know what Rulala is giving me? She's getting the she's getting the Camille grammar trajectory. Yes. She's not gonna be with this man at the end of this season. No, she's gonna have maybe one more season, she's gonna go out in a place of glory, she's gonna come back as a friend in like season five. Yeah. That is the the because what I cannot stop saying, but he is ma. He is. Like, this is why first seasons of shows can be so great, because these women don't yet understand that they're on TV. And so they're having this dinner, but they're openly like talking about the fact that this one woman's husband is cheating, and she's like, in her mind, she's like, Well, whatever I say is the truth. Like, that's how she's thinking. And she's like, Well, no, he's not doing that anymore, he's not doing that anymore. And then Liz, with her hand like on like like blocking it, like the camera can't see it, just goes, but he is ma, which is just so funny. And then the added twist at the end of this last episode that this Dino man just maybe schlupping with Kelsey. Yes, yeah. There's that's why I'm saying episode three, and I'm locked in.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's crazy. It's crazy. And you're so right about the early seasons of new franchises being the reason why they're so good is because they haven't done housewives for 10 years, like these other women. Yeah, and so nothing is calculated. Yeah, nothing is like for the the show, for the plot. Like they're just living and they have this drama and it's real.
SPEAKER_01Something else I've discovered recently, which I don't know. I guess they film, I guess they've done a lot of pilots that we don't even know about. Um, and so I think why this is so good is that they've filmed this at least, at least it probably at least two or three episodes. Bravo will put the money into film this without knowing if it will even go. Wow. Which I think is why this is just so good because they clearly saw that it worked. I guess they've tried Chicago and tried a couple other places, and the vibe just hasn't worked, so we just don't move forward.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, I guess the rumor is right now that they're looking at cities. I see like they're finding success with things like Rhode Island and Salt Lake. So they're Buffalo. Well, they're looking at um not necessarily obvious places. Buffalo. Buffalo. I guess the one that they rumor is actively in production is New Mexico.
SPEAKER_00Oh.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I guess they're like I which would make sense.
SPEAKER_00They might be trying to find Aren't they doing something in like Minnesota or mini Minnesota? Minneapolis.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that would be crazy. I guess people keep pushing New Orleans too. I could see that. I could see New Orleans. Yeah, I guess I mean Buffalo would be crazy. I always joke with Nicole Simano that she's that she's that she's a real housewife of Clarence.
SPEAKER_00This is like no tea no shade, but there's just like not enough money here in Buffalo. No, no.
SPEAKER_01Well again, but it would be like a it would be like a Potomac situation where nobody in there there'd be one person who lives in like a mansion on Delaware. And everyone else got a three-bed, two-bath. Well, well, or they're out in like East Ambrose or Clarence. Like they're not gonna be. Also, like respectfully, where are they gonna go? But you know what though? I think this about Potomac sometimes. Yeah, honestly, only need like four nice places. Yeah, they're all gonna go to Hutches, then they're gonna go to like one other nice restaurant, then they're gonna go on vacation.
SPEAKER_00Yes, they're gonna do trips. And I feel like because it is close, they could do some stuff in like Niagara on the Lake, or like pretty pretty locations, you know, because like Potomacville. Most of their most yes, and most of Potomac scenes are filmed in like DC, you know.
SPEAKER_01I think Ashley was the only one for a while that lived in that lived in DC. Yeah. And then um, I know Candace lived in DC for a while, like when she was in that like townhouse. Yeah. Um, but yeah, they uh I just I I feel like we need to not be afraid to put some of the cities to bed. I agree. And like Beverly Hills, this is like season 12, but I feel like we had we had a good like eight. Like let's just wrap it up. Yeah, like New York, let's just wrap it up. Like yeah, you you could still like what we what they did was amazing, but like think about like if you got rid of some of those and you OC, I will say, is still is still going strong. So we got we gotta keep OC, especially it's the 20th. But like it's crazy. If it's Potomac, I'm gonna say Miami, yeah, Salt Lake, Rhode Island, um, and then you find like two new cities, like oh, Atlanta. I mean, I'm not I'm not I'm not watching Atlanta.
SPEAKER_00I started Atlanta, it's not it's just not like it used to be. No, and that's okay, you know. It's not gonna be the same unless you bring back Neene.
SPEAKER_01Joe and I was curious about when I was looking at the fact that they somehow squeezed a three-part reunion out of this season of Beverly Hills.
SPEAKER_00I don't I how they will, it's on the. No, because it's just gonna be Kyle and Darit yelling at each other for three episodes. And I'm sick of it.
SPEAKER_01Or it's gonna be what it's been the past couple years where they're gonna talk about stuff that didn't happen in the season. Suddenly there's gonna be like other shit that comes up, yeah, which is very Kyle Richards of it all. But um I looked up, has there ever been a four-part reunion? I was like, has there ever been a four-part reunion? I think so, right? We won Atlanta.
SPEAKER_00Wow.
SPEAKER_01And it's the lies! It's when like it's because it's because I think that wouldn't have been a three-part, but the re the reveal of Phaedra being the one that made up the rumor about candy made it a four-part season. I think it's season nine. Damn. It's the only time it's been a four-part reunion. Oh, so good. I was I was curious, and Beverly Hills has always had a three-part reunion except for season one, which was two parts. I looked it up. I was like, because I was like, please do a two-parter. Yeah, we don't need to do what what happened? Right, right.
SPEAKER_00But anyway.
SPEAKER_01Anything else on the housewise right now?
SPEAKER_00No, I think uh So after Beverly Hills wraps up, what's gonna be airing right now? Rhode Island, Atlanta?
SPEAKER_01Rhode Island and Atlanta. Uh is that it? There's no Miami. Jersey's filming. So, like, not Jersey. Uh oh, OC. Um, OC is uh almost done, I think. So OC will probably oh no, no, no, no, no. It's gonna be the ultimate girls' trip. That's what it's gonna be.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, the road trip with Nini and then that's gonna be on Bravo proper.
SPEAKER_01So that's what they're gonna do to hold us through, and then that's gonna end going into season 20 of Orange County, and then by then Salt Lake will be we'll be back.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because Salt Lake doesn't that start to air in like the fall.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, September, October. So it's yeah, because it's usually done around New Year's. So yeah, that's what it'll it'll it'll be, and then Jersey will probably be be airing like now, like probably be airing in next year. The new year. So we're gonna get back into some of our regular girls. Okay. And Beverly Hills always films always films over the summer. Yeah. I laugh because I was in Florence at the same time that they were, and I was like, maybe I was like, maybe I'll see them. Girl, they never left the house. Right. I would have never seen them. Right. I wasn't I wasn't in those areas of Florence. Yeah. Okay. All right. We're gonna take a break and we'll be right back.
SPEAKER_00And we're back. Wow, you really did suck that down.
SPEAKER_01I really sucked her sucked her down. You know what?
SPEAKER_00And we're talking for the shareholders who can't see us, we are talking about the drinks.
SPEAKER_01Correct. Yeah, we need to we need to clarify. Um, so we're back with our titular segment. Yep. Mary, did you know?
SPEAKER_00Um Jim, I have one. Okay, good. Um it's not really breaking news, but it's just something I really want to talk about. So, Mary, did you know that there are people who don't understand tone when they are like texting or sending a message? And this relates to work, really. Yeah. Um, not my actual team, but I like interact with a lot of people at like throughout day-to-day, and like we have Microsoft teams, and so like people will just like be sending messages all all day and whatever. Um, but like some people just don't understand. Like, I feel like I'm very good at when I send a message, it's in my voice. Like you can hear, like, it there's personality to the way I talk, and that translates into my messages, but like there are some people that I know their personality is like not like what they how they speak on teams, and it is just baffling to me because I'm like, are you mad at me?
SPEAKER_01All right, or it's like there's a a hmm. Some some people think that you have to be like that if you don't if you're not ultra professional, you'll seem too casual. But there's a way to be professional but still get your own, still be yourself. Yes, and it's not that hard to achieve.
SPEAKER_00But I also like I maybe I'm unprofessional, but like if I'm talking to you on Teams, I don't need to be like correct, hello, blah, blah, blah. Good afternoon. How would you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01It also depends on who you're talking to. Like, yes, are you talking to someone you never speak to? In which case you probably are gonna be a little bit more just like, hello, how are you? Or like, yeah, my boss and I were talking about something today, and like we said LMAO. Like it's like, it's literally like it's so like it doesn't matter.
SPEAKER_00Well, that's the that's the stuff that I put in like any mess. If I'm talking on Teams, this is not formal.
SPEAKER_01This is like this is this is an LOL safe space.
SPEAKER_00Yes, yeah. So that's why, like, if you're messaging me on Teams, do not expect the formality of an email because I'm not giving that to you. And like, if you treat it like an email, I'm taken aback because I'm like, this is Teams. This is this is like we're sitting at a bar, like chatting. You know what I mean? Like, why if if your personality is not coming across in your team's message, there's a problem. Yep. I agree. I'm with you. And that that's all I have to say on that. And that's all I have to say on that.
SPEAKER_01Um, I had a couple different options for mine. Um, where am I gonna land? I think I'm gonna go on this one because I think it's a fun. There's an element of this that's a bit of a prediction. So if it happens, we'll know by the time this comes out. Okay, I'll have to sign very right, very right or very wrong. I think you do know private, but Mary, did you know that there is a Madonna's releasing a sequel to Confessions on a Dance Floor?
SPEAKER_00Okay, I saw rumblings about this on Twitter.
SPEAKER_01So she like has like she has announced like on July 3rd, Confessions on a Dance Floor 2, or it's being called Confessions 2, is coming out. It's one of her best. I mean, outside of her, you know, the classic Madonna albums of the last, you know, certainly of the ones uh from the 20th from the 21st century, um, since 2000, her best down. I mean, it's just Hung Up is one of the best songs ever, pop songs ever made. And I re-listened to the album the other day. I was like, this is just so good. And but I'm a little weary of part twos. Because like before we like fully got rid of Nicki Minaj, like Pink Friday 2 was a fucking mess.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And Pink Friday is great. So it's always hard to revisit a thing that you really just nailed. Yeah. And like the confessions tour, if you watch clips from it, just like you just feel like someone and like just like having a this sounds rude, but she's a woman of a certain age. Like, she was having like a second prime. Like she was like, She was like, I am like number one again, I'm killing it. So the reason why I'm saying this is the root, you know what the rumor is is that so she she released like a single today, but only on radio, which is like girl. Also, there was a tweet that was like it was like a Madonna Stan account explaining to Madonna fans how to do streaming parties. Because they were like just the joke being like they're older. Yeah. Um, but um, the rumor is that the real lead single from the album features Sabrina Carpenter, and that Madonna is going to be at the second weekend of Coachella. That would be that's because there were these guys, there were these leaked photos of someone who looks like Madonna in like a full face mask, like uh I'm robbing a bank face mask, doing a sound check. And people think that it's Madonna. That's because Sabrina and Sabrina would make sense to feature on something like that. She'd I would say her and Dua Lipa sort of of the younger generation fit that sort of vibe. That would be a game. So that would be really good. So that's why I want to say it because I think it might, I think it might be true, and by this, it'll be out by now. But yeah, I didn't I listened to the first song that came out today. It was fine. Um, I'm hoping it's a little bit better. Um, I I'm not like a huge Madonna fan, but I usually will listen to the album when it comes out. Yeah, because there's like a song or two I'll like. It's been spent a minute. Right. Um but her last album, she like wore an eye patch for the whole thing. And I had a couple questions about that one. Yeah, but um, but I love listen, I feel like it's gonna come to a point with some of our favorites where like they might want to revisit stuff like that. And like I'm always like, what does that what what is a 1989 part two? Do you know what I mean? Like it's like it that and that's sort of what we got with some of the vault stuff, so we've sort of visited that in a way, but yeah, I think it's interesting when an artist wants to revisit something. Right. Um, it's also a I guess this week Charlie XEX was like, dance music is done, or said something like that. And then Madonna was like, Hold my beer. Yeah. I got also she was like, Shut up, girl. Yeah, she's like, I'm I'm I built I built the floor. Correct. I got I got I got I say when dance music is done. Exactly. So and you know what thing is, I'm always rooting for Madonna. I am too because you know what?
SPEAKER_00Like she did it, yeah, and big ally, big, big ally. Although brought ballroom culture to the forefront. Okay. And I guess like media.
SPEAKER_01No, it's true. Well, I mean that I mean that's the whole like there's the um it's it have you did you watch Pose? Oh, I did the second season. They have a bit of a debate, but there's a bit of a conversation of the second season about Vogue. Yeah, and like some of them are like, well, she's stealing this, and some people are like, but she's also like telling people about it. Yes, like just she's just like informing people, and it's sort of that like it falls in that Misselvish Michelle Vassage category of like a straight woman, but it's like but she is a part of the community. Yes, like I don't not believe that she's friends with these people and hangs out with these people.
SPEAKER_00Yes, I don't think it was a malicious like stealing the culture to be like I'm it's mine.
SPEAKER_01It's like Michelle feels like she can talk about drag race because for years her only friends were really drag queens.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and so it's like this makes sense. Putting a spotlight or showcasing all of the good of the community, not so much like stealing it and claiming it as your own. Um so I think that's what I meant when I just to clarify because I don't want to get canceled.
SPEAKER_01No, yeah, you're not gonna get canceled. The Madonna fans, they'd have to send you a letter. Yeah it would be it would be a whole they have to start a fan campaign, it would be a whole thing.
SPEAKER_00But speaking of, like that's why I love things like Kat's the Jellico Ball, which I'm so I am seeing it. I bought tickets. You got tickets. Ooh, I'm going next weekend. Where did you where where are you sitting? That's a good question. I don't remember. I think it's I think we are in the mezzanine in like the fourth row.
SPEAKER_01That's where um Kristen and Arn sat the second time and said it was a great because you can see everything.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, but that's what I love about like doing things like this because it's it's ballroom culture that you know like typical white Americans don't know about. They're gonna be exposed to it in a crazy way. Yes, and that's what I love that like this show got produced and brought to Broadway because it's in education, it really is. Um, so I'm I'm very excited to see that.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, that's well, when this that's that's I will have seen it by this episode. That's that's why we're recording early. So that's gonna be fun.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00I think that's it then. All right. Well, um, another great week. And we're gonna go see Demi Lovano. Bye. Bye.
