The tournament continues to prove why it is one of the most unique stops on the tennis tour with celebrities, packed crowds and some of the best tennis of the season.
⛳ The Players Championship
The PGA Tour delivered a huge moment as Cameron Young rallied from four shots back to win The Players Championship, capturing the biggest victory of his career.
We also discuss the massive prize purse, how payouts in professional golf have changed over the years and what even players near the bottom of the leaderboard earn today compared to previous generations.
🏎️ Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix

Things are turning.
SPEAKER_04The wheel is turning on the computer.
SPEAKER_01We are back live, round too. Instagram sometimes just wants to take its sweet little time, so it throws me off. But Instagram will be live in a second. Welcome back from the sidelines. I'm Coach Cheyenne. I have my brother Bomman, and we have an extremely special guest. Carlin is here. She's logged in from Orlando, Florida. Yay! She is a breast cancer survivor, uh, queen in all things events, sporting events. If you ever are getting married in Tim soon, you could probably hire for her for a wedding. Um she has her own business and she also works for a very big company in the US, which you can look her up later. Also, she has her own podcast.
SPEAKER_04Um Carlin, are you still podcasting? She's podcasting.
SPEAKER_00We are so kind of, I don't want to say sporadically, but we're at least trying to do twice a month. Um, you know, just life, life life. And, you know, as you know, it's a lot of work.
SPEAKER_01So um tell them about your podcast really quick. What is it called? Um yeah.
SPEAKER_00So it's called Champs and Gossip. Um, I host it with one of my best friends, Stephanie, and we love champagne. So we have a different bottle of champagne, sometimes a different bottle of champagne every time we record. Um, but we talk about all things reality TV, um, TV show, like anything pop culture you can think of. So like Oscars are a huge thing. Met Gala, we always cover Met Gala. We love all the fashion looks and all the things.
SPEAKER_01So um so yeah, we're trying is literally perfect for what we're gonna talk about today. So today is gonna be Oscars, and then it was a very busy weekend for sports. So I'm super excited to do Indian Wells, the Chinese Grand Prix. We have um the players' championship. Liv was in Singapore, so we'll talk a little bit about that, and then I want to like dabble into wearing the Arsenal shirt a little bit into Arsenal as well. There were some like breaking records that happened. So I will share that with all of you as well. So let's first start with F1. So, Carlin, were you one of those people who also got suckered into watching Drive to Survive and then became an F1 fan, or were you always an F1 fan?
SPEAKER_00Um, I was not always an F1 fan. I specifically remember, and this is probably me so mean, but I remember we were it might have been like the second year of Miami Open or the third year that I went, I can't remember. And my friend Marianne was with me, and she was watching F1 because there was an F1 race when we were there, and she was watching it on her phone, and I remember being like, What are you doing? Like I remember making fun of her for it, and she was like, Oh, it's so good. And then Matt and I got suckered into watching Drive to Survive, and then we then became the people who are watching races every weekend, um, like psychopaths.
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_01So I feel like you're probably like 90% of people that got hooked into Drive to Survive like we did.
SPEAKER_04People are gonna be pissed if you say 90. That feels like a big number.
SPEAKER_01That is a big number. I think 90% of the people that watched Drive to Survive are now like F15.
SPEAKER_04Oh, for sure.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yes, yes, yes, yes, for sure.
SPEAKER_01So I think that if you watched it, I think they did an exceptional job of captivating, explaining what the sport is, but making it what you guys love, like reality TV style. But how's YB a bit drama filled?
SPEAKER_04Also, the F1 movie was like one of the highest cursing movies and nominated for a few Oscars, even one for sound.
SPEAKER_01Yes, which you are jumping the gun.
SPEAKER_04I know, but I just gotta tie it all in.
SPEAKER_01No, there it is.
SPEAKER_04Bring it all back.
SPEAKER_01Welcome to the sibling podcast.
SPEAKER_04Or anything goes.
SPEAKER_00No, I love it. It's beautiful.
SPEAKER_01Live could not be live, it then is live, you know, it all happens. Okay, so F1. So let me tell you guys. So the Chinese Grand Prix happened, which I'm not gonna lie, I didn't know it was called the Chinese Grand Prix, I thought it was called Shanghai for some reason. I guess because Lewis was just there in my head. I was like, the Shanghai Grand Prix, but it's like no, it's called the Chinese Grand Prix. Hopefully, they can get a sponsor or something for that one. I don't know. Yeah, that's crazy. Um, okay, so did you know?
SPEAKER_04Oh, here we go. I love it.
SPEAKER_01I love it.
SPEAKER_04I love it. He never knows.
SPEAKER_01Here we go. But um, okay, so for people that don't know, Lewis Hamilton used to drive for Mercedes with George Russell. Last year, he jumped ship after, I don't even know, seven or eight years, maybe or longer, with Mercedes, and then winning like seven or eight of them. Winning seven.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he won seven, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, and he went for Ferrari because that's like the ultimate goal for like the driver. Kind of like in the NBA when you hear people saying like you play for the Lakers Lakers, like that's your ultimate goal because just of the name. Anyway, so he done ship, he goes to Ferrari, and um last year was a horrific year for Lewis Hamilton.
SPEAKER_00So bad. Yeah, it was bad.
SPEAKER_01It was bad.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was real bad.
SPEAKER_01He was constantly complaining a little bit at moments. I'm like, are you being a little bit of a crybaby? We're gonna need you to just get it together. But of course, you're used to winning, you have a certain standard, and nothing is clicking. So out of frustration, a lot of it sounds like crybaby complaining a bit. Anyways, so he hadn't he no podiums, nothing, nothing even close to a podium. No, and so I watched it was midnight in Vancouver at 12:30 in the morning, and I turned it on, and it was um Kimmy Antonelli, he was first, Louis second, Charles was third, and then George was fourth. That's kind of how the like the ranking was. I'm like, or George is maybe even fifth. Um, and I was like, oh wow, this is interesting. So I'm like, I kind of did it on stories. I was like, I wonder if by the end of when I wake up in the morning, I wonder if Kimmy will still win, which I hope, because I really wanted Kimmy to win. But I hope that Lewis gets some kind of a podium, like that just would be nice for him. And so when I woke up, what was really nice was Who won? Kimmy won.
SPEAKER_04Oh, no way.
SPEAKER_01And Lewis came in third. Oh and George came in second, which just tells you their car, the Mercedes cars are really fast. Really fast.
SPEAKER_04So far. I mean, this is still very early stages.
SPEAKER_01And Max is still complaining. So we know that Red Bull, their cars aren't doing anything, but we definitely know that uh Wait, quick question.
SPEAKER_04Who is the because it was Jerry Halowald's husband. Yeah, he got fired.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so who's the who's the oh I don't know who's the funny?
SPEAKER_04What's it called, Carlin?
SPEAKER_01Do you know like the the like Toto Wolf is the principal?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, the principal. Wait, Carlin, we can't hear you.
SPEAKER_01Oh, you went on you went you.
SPEAKER_04She gonna figure it out.
SPEAKER_01We still can't hear it.
SPEAKER_04No, we can't hear you. Maybe your mic? Mic check one, two, one, two. Oh my god, we're having all the tech stuff. Oh, all the tech stuff today.
SPEAKER_01Hello to technology.
SPEAKER_04Okay, we're gonna keep it moving while Carla and you figure it out, but we'll tell you when we hear you because we don't we don't hear ya. Nope.
SPEAKER_01Um, if you unplug and just use your laptop, Mike, how does that work? Yeah, how does that sound? I'm sure it's gonna sound great. Yeah. Take your time. Okay, so I want to hit you with a few facts, button, because I know you don't know any of this. So, couple of things. Um, did you know that because of the war in the Middle East, two of the Grand Prix are now officially canceled? So they have 24 races a year. It's now gone to 22. And um, they started with Australia, which we know. This is the second one that happened, which is the Chinese Grand Prix. Um, the new one that got added this year to the calendar was Madrid. Um, and they always end with like Abu Dhabi, but the middle two, I believe, which obviously I had it starred on my comp. On my comp.
SPEAKER_04Well, it was probably Abu Dhabi. Can you hear me and isn't it?
SPEAKER_01No, Abu Dhabi is where they end. Oh, right.
SPEAKER_04So isn't Dubai where they're no button, I think you're making stuff up. Oh, I love making stuff up.
SPEAKER_01Maybe you can just on your feed.
SPEAKER_04Oh my god, here we are. Carlin, how's your bike doing?
SPEAKER_00You can't hear me.
SPEAKER_01She's probably trying to figure that out.
SPEAKER_04Alrighty.
SPEAKER_01Um F1 cancelled races, maybe type. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Oh, here it is. Here we are, everyone. Bahrain. Bahrain. Bahrain.
SPEAKER_01Bahrain and Saudi, everyone. Bahrain.
SPEAKER_04She think it rains in Bahrain. Uh-huh. One moment while I check.
SPEAKER_01I don't think it rains in Bahrain.
SPEAKER_04It rains in Bahrain.
SPEAKER_01It's a desert.
SPEAKER_04Rain. Oh. Um, yes, it does rain in Bahrain, but very rare, very rarely. Okay, we've literally pivoted off.
SPEAKER_01So insane. This is what happens, and then he gets me suckered into like looking at his screen. Anyway, so two of the F1 races are cancelled, which is obviously really, really sad. Um for the fans, for the local people there, obviously it's they're in the middle of a war, but it's I think it's the right move just for everyone's safety.
SPEAKER_04It ends there. So you know. No, it doesn't bund. I thought it was.
SPEAKER_01Literally, again, listen to me again. Abu Dhabi is where the season ends. This is Bahrain. Yes.
SPEAKER_04And the other one Why would you cancel it in Abu Dhabi if you don't know how it's not canceled in Abu Dhabi? Oh, oh, oh, it's a good one.
SPEAKER_01Just once again, Bahrain is canceled.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_01And what was the other one that you just looked up?
SPEAKER_04Um, it's Bahrain and it is the Saudi Grand Prix.
SPEAKER_01Those are the two that are cancelled. Okay. Because they're right after this. So there's gonna be a bit of a gap. Um, and then Miami starts. So Miami in May hopefully will be there.
SPEAKER_04Oh my god. Quick check-in on our girl of very close to Miami, Carlin 1212. How are we doing?
SPEAKER_00Can you hear me now? You can hear me now, yes. Oh, Carlin's frozen.
SPEAKER_04Oh, Carlin's frozen?
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_04Oh my gosh, not the gorgeous. She looks good.
SPEAKER_00You're back.
SPEAKER_04You looked gorgeous. Frozen. Oh my god, you were stunning. Like, just just see even when frozen, gorge. Wow. I was like, oh my god, look at the post. Mine's usually like a weird face, and you're like, you're you're like Samantha in Chad is saying we can hear you.
SPEAKER_01Thank you, Samantha. I appreciate it. Oh, okay. We were all a bit okay. So, Carlin, what we just were telling everyone as we were arguing was that the two Grand Prix in the middle, um, not in the middle, but are canceled because of the Middle East War. So Bahrain and Saudi, both of those Grand Prix are canceled, which I feel really obviously really sad for the fans and the people that spend a so much money and so much time as you're a person that works in sporting events and you run and host events. Yeah. Um it's so much time and teams and partners and all of that. But again, it's a war, so like people are also dying, which we have to be more sensitive and you know, but also Carlin, I was curious to know if it rains in Bahrain.
SPEAKER_04And what do you think?
SPEAKER_01He's so insane.
SPEAKER_04What do you think? Do you think it rains?
SPEAKER_01I could hear you. So you know the answer.
SPEAKER_04Damn it.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I was really hoping we're in the desert, and he's like, Does it rain in Bahrain? And I'm like, this is so insane. And we did Google it, it said rarely.
SPEAKER_00I could hear you guys the whole time, I just couldn't speak.
SPEAKER_04But you were frozen, like just the most beautiful statue I've ever seen.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so um Kimi won. Kimmy also wrote for record, if you didn't know, um, that in the sprint race, he's the youngest ever to win at 19. So that was pretty cool.
SPEAKER_00Um, and the second youngest to win the full race.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and there was so much on my feed. I don't know if there was on yours about Toto just saying, Oh, the top three drivers are still my drivers.
SPEAKER_04Oh, that's gonna be.
SPEAKER_01And he's like, you know, I see these names, but it's I mean, I don't know. Yeah, he is. He gen honestly, Toto's genuinely happy, but at the same time, he's still so obsessed with Lewis. I'm gonna share my screen. Um, I'm gonna share Carlin. Welcome to share screen. I love it. Oh, and there it is. Let's add it to the feed. And so he even like this is them on their way back from Shanghai, and it's all of them at like up.
SPEAKER_04For people listening, do you wanna?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so it's Toto Wolf, Susie, his wife, it's Lewis Hamilton, it's George Russell and his girlfriend on a private jet.
SPEAKER_04Is that what it is?
SPEAKER_01It's Toto's plane on the PJ, and they're they're saying, Oh, thanks for the ride back. Oh, you know, it's all very uh amazing when it comes to that. And where is pardon?
SPEAKER_00I said no Kim K, huh?
SPEAKER_01No, also he made a really weird comment um that was on my feed about him saying that oh uh I'm single. Oh at the at the Shanghai Grand Prix, I swear I thought I saved it. Oh, he said something like because Charles was talking about his wedding, and then all of a sudden you hear, oh yeah, um, something about him being single.
SPEAKER_00One moment, please. While I scroll technically, you are single if you're not married, but like whatever.
SPEAKER_04Or yeah, like he's dating and it's not official. So I mean it's technicality.
SPEAKER_01This one Lewis Hamilton jokes about being single.
SPEAKER_04There it is. It's there it is moving on.
SPEAKER_01Anyway, so that was what I wanted to be so not interested. I just wanted to share that quick right here. Kimmy.
SPEAKER_04I love when Coach starts just going through her feed. It's just I just want to show you guys what's happening on the feed.
SPEAKER_01We're gonna go through this with you, it's fine. Look how cute this is. This is him when he was a youngster when Lewis was obviously from Mercedes, and now they get to share the stage. And um both of their McKenna, like you know, Bono, he was in the middle. There's some cute photos of all of them. So yeah, it was it was really nice to see Toto just like being obsessive over all three of them. Yeah, look, you've even changed the color of the Ferrari red to all black.
SPEAKER_00They photoshopped what Toto sees. That's funny. That's cute. That's very good.
SPEAKER_01So that's my F1 update for everyone. So Kimmy was the youngest um there. So now my other uh update for you about a quick, swift transition into youngest and breaking records is I'm gonna quickly just tap into Arsenal to tell you guys very quickly that um Max Dowman, he is the youngest Premier League goal scorer, and so Arsenal played Everton, we won 2-0, and he was the one who scored the second goal. He's 16.
SPEAKER_04Oh are you allowed to play at 16?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, um, you still have to go to school and like finish and all of that.
SPEAKER_04What is the age? Like 16, probably 15? I don't actually know.
SPEAKER_00Oh so here's some really quick facts about so many different levels, right? Because like I soccer, football is so confusing sometimes with like who can play for because like there's certain ages that can play for the national teams, and then like some ages that it's I don't understand.
SPEAKER_01You know what it is? I think it's laws within the European Union on children and work and getting paid. And I remember, was it World Cup when the Brazil no, when this the player from Barcelona who plays for Spain, I forget his name. Um, he's really, really good. And I think that they wouldn't let him play because the law in Germany was that after like a certain time, like let's say at 10 p.m. or something, if you're under 16, you can't work, and the match was on, and they had to like request for a law or like a bypass for like letting him play. It was quite interesting.
SPEAKER_04I've done a quick Google, it's 15.
SPEAKER_01Oh, really?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, in premier, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so here's some some of the facts that I just have. Um, so he went to he's come through the academy, through the Arsenal Academy, and um Max has broken records ever since he's put the shirt on, it said. And so he scored the goal. He is the second youngest player to represent the club ever in the Premier League. And then um what else did they say? I think he's also the youngest player to score in the Champions League. Oh, wow. So it says this is the player who has been training with Arsenal's first, and he's been training with the first team since he's 14. To be training with this is a child, yes, literally a child's first team at the age of 14, and now they're saying they're comparing, which I oh god, don't love this because I feel like the pressure is so insane. Guess who they're comparing him to? Messi.
SPEAKER_04Of course.
SPEAKER_01Well, we're also not gonna compare any and so there's like his talents received comparisons with Messi from his manager, uh Arteto.
SPEAKER_04It's a 15-year-old play. Like, how are they supposed to hear these things and then try to manage expectations and pressure?
SPEAKER_00It's very fully developed at all. Not even close.
SPEAKER_01And they said that Dowman was one of the two 15-year-olds included on Arsenal's preseason tour to Asia and one oh and was one of the club's most dangerous, like dangerous players at 15.
SPEAKER_04Do you guys know when a brain is fully developed?
SPEAKER_01For men, I thought it was late 20s. Yeah, 25.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, it's like 26, I think. 25, 26. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I think the frontal cortex, I think for men, I don't know what it's called. Anyways, that was my quick transition from Kimmy being the youngest in F1 to net, just really quickly letting you guys know all these guys are so young playing in um such, I think just so much pressure, pressure, high intensity jobs, and trying like what were you doing at 15, 16? Like, you know what I mean? Like we were just like we were in high school, exactly. We were going to school.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we were up to no good.
SPEAKER_01We were probably exactly.
SPEAKER_04We were playing sports. Were you playing sports? Did you play sports? You played all the things tennis, star, tennis, and cheer.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was cheer. Speaking about tennis.
SPEAKER_04Oh, tennis, what a transition. I didn't even mean it, Carla. What a wow. Look at you. Look at you. But we played with you, yeah. It's the kick serve. It's like, yeah, you have the yeah, she's on a spin on it. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01All right, friends. So Indian Wells. Wow.
SPEAKER_04Not who we thought was gonna be.
SPEAKER_01We got it very wrong, Carlin. Oh, who did you think for the first time ever? I don't even know if you know. I bet. Oh, you guys, I've never done it. I didn't even know how sporting betting like this is.
SPEAKER_04This is a betting woman.
SPEAKER_01And I lost. My first and I lost. I was devastated. I'm like, I will never do this again. What a waste of money. Who even does this? I went into a full spiral.
SPEAKER_04Wait, how much did you bet? 50 bucks. Oh.
SPEAKER_01But I went into a spiral.
SPEAKER_04Okay, who did you put your money on?
SPEAKER_01Who did you put your money on? Who do you think lost that I was absolutely Carlos?
SPEAKER_04I mean, we all I think does it.
SPEAKER_01I and I'm an idiot. Well, I don't know if this is like a rules to betting, but I bet on him when he had just um who did he plea uh beat before Medvedev? Uh ask your mom Carlin, she'll know. She's right there.
SPEAKER_00You know, Terry Tribble's right there. Carlos, who did Carlos beat before Medvedev? Yeah. She doesn't remember.
SPEAKER_01Oh Nori. Yeah, actually, yeah, Nori, the um the right. So I would say Carlos is about to beat Medvedev.
SPEAKER_00For sure.
SPEAKER_01And obviously. Yeah, and also because I didn't watch any of Medvedev's matches, but he hadn't lost the set.
SPEAKER_04But still, I would have still bet on Carlos. He just and he did have like two set points to like it to the third set. So it was looking.
SPEAKER_01I just need to ask the people if anyone is on in the comments or live. Have you ever bet on a sporting event? If it's your first time ever, like what app do people use? What did you use? I had to ask Chad G.
SPEAKER_03I had to ask Chad GPC what app to download?
SPEAKER_00A commercial every five seconds for sports betting now. Everywhere.
SPEAKER_01So there's different rules. Even within Canada, within our provinces, we have different betting rules, which I didn't know about. So there was an app somewhere like in Ontario that was giving, and I'm like, oh, who's giving like a you know, sometimes they do sign up and get like 10 extra dollars and like whatever else. I did it with Bet365, which is also a UK bet company, which I had heard of when I worked at Arsenal about it. Oh, it sounds like betting started in the UK, you know, they always bet on everything. So I'm like, oh. Sounds like it's a good choice. Anyways, guys, I got screwed.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, well, I would have got a lot of money to do on that. I definitely thought Carlos had it.
SPEAKER_01So that was my Carlos upset. I watched it and I feel like his energy the whole match was like, Oh, I'll catch up.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I'll get it.
SPEAKER_01Oh, this is what I do. Oh the next shot. Oh, it's fine. And then it was not fine. No, you know what? He had two chances in the second set to win the second set. I know. He was up 5'4. Um, and he had two tries twice where he was up like let's say 40-30. He needed one, but it was Medvedev's serve. Yeah. And Medvedev came back and beat him in the tiebreaker and crushed him in the tiebreaker.
SPEAKER_00Crushed. Like and was the heat a factor for him? I can't remember. I like between him and center, I just everybody is not really.
SPEAKER_01They were trying to make an excuse at all for the first couple of shots. When you do the in-between like afternoon to night matches when the sun comes across, like half the court has sun, the other half doesn't. Honestly, it doesn't matter. Medvedev played a clean, very focused. When I saw Medvedev, I'm like, oh, this is a new guy. He wasn't complaining. He wasn't like annoyed with the crowd screaming at Carlos. Yeah, he used to do that. Remember when he was like old Medvedev would have been like, Oh, you all love him? What about me?
SPEAKER_04Like he oh my god, he's so but he also, I think a lot of it was to distract the other player and to throw them off if he was losing, right?
SPEAKER_01No, I think he was just emotional. That's I think Medvedev was just but this new version from Dubai having to like essentially escape the Middle East and do all of that to come. I don't know if he's come with a completely different mindset of wow, I just saw what a war zone looks like. I'm just thankful, I guess he's tennis for a living and maybe he's playing freer, more or less.
SPEAKER_04No, he's he's he started off this year really strong, right? He won Dubai and he's he's been doing really well.
SPEAKER_01Dubai after Dubai was this, that's where he got stuck.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, but he's I mean he's doing he's playing well.
SPEAKER_01Oh he got stuck in Dubai, and him and a couple of the other players had to go like three, four different routes to then go to Jordan, then go to like Turkey, and then it was like a crazy way for them to actually make it. They didn't think he was gonna make it for Indian Wells in order to play. Um, anyways, he's he's the old Medvedev that we used to he it's still in there, it's still in there, it's in there.
SPEAKER_00I know it'll come out. Somebody will bring it out to them, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, for sure. Also, he they went uh they tie they went into a tiebreaker towards center like in the finals as well. It was good, it was really good. They played really well, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And we so we got that wrong because we both guessed that Alcaraz would win it.
SPEAKER_04So there's wait, who would you put it?
SPEAKER_00Alcaraz would beat Cinner, right?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yes, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, I think he, I mean, Carlos is always my if he's in it, Carlos is always my bet. I mean, uh Sinner is very good, but something about him I just like I'm like uh like sometimes I'll root for him, but I don't know.
SPEAKER_01I know why is that? My mom's obsessed with Sinner, and then the rest of the house is always like go out cards, and she's like, no, look how quiet and elegant. I'm like, Mom, but like no.
SPEAKER_04I don't know what it's like it's because Carlos is just more of a showman, he's got this charming smile, and he's just like, yeah, he just does stuff you haven't really physically seen, I think, in so you're kind of amazed by you're blown away by his every movement of like what he's doing, and then I think he also like likes to like congratulate the guy if he's had a good shot, which you also appreciate. A good sportsman.
SPEAKER_01There you go. Yes, and how about for the women? Did you you had that? We had that wrong as well. Oh, who did you think? I was hoping for Vicky, obviously. I thought that she might pull it off against Sabalanka. Um, she was close, but she did not.
SPEAKER_04And I thought Pagula was gonna take it.
SPEAKER_00We remember you did say that.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I didn't first see Sabalanka beating um, I never can say her name, Rebecca.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, Rebecca, Rebecca, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, but I didn't actually get to watch any of that. Do you know what happened?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean, it was it was good. I just think Sabalanka just is I think she and they talk about it a lot. Like her four or five years ago was a mess, right? Like she was good, but her mental was just like crazy. And I just feel like she just is so good. Like I just so good, and like we they went to a tie break. Um, and I honestly in the third, yeah, in the third, so she lost the first set, six three.
SPEAKER_04Yes, yeah, and then she came back to win it, yes, yeah, and I thought she was gonna lose it.
SPEAKER_00I mean, she got uh I'm sure a little bit of his uh luck, but just I mean, it was very good. And I was second, or was it we'll just score in the second?
SPEAKER_04Um I can call you women singles, it was yeah, so it's oh six three six three, and then it's yeah, and it was eight six, so they had to win, so it went like it was six six. Oh, right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They they really were it could have gone anyway.
SPEAKER_01Literally, it was like the finals, and I feel like could have gone either way, even the men's, the men's could have gone either way, too. Yeah, well, good for her. I'm happy that she got this one. I mean, I feel like she's the old Medvedev, but she's a bit Lucy in the brain cell. Sometimes she can really get down on herself.
SPEAKER_04I don't think anything's changed on her. She's I think still consistently Lucy Goose.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you know, but you know, she does live in Espresso Martini, which I was like, hey girl. And she loves she wanted five guys to go. And I did you know that? That's what she said in her interview. Like, oh, what does a celebration look like on your way to Miami to go on the? She's like, Well, for celebration, I'll have a few espresso martinis. And I was like, Yes, love that. And then and then she's like, and five guys to go. Yeah, and I was like, all the toppings, but like, what does your order look like?
SPEAKER_04I don't want to pivot, but I do because our guy, Mr. B. Jordan, who won last night, what did he get after? Do you know?
SPEAKER_00Oh, I do. In and out, which is yeah. Okay, let's do all things Oscar.
SPEAKER_01You're like, I'm ready.
SPEAKER_04Yes, I'm ready.
SPEAKER_01So where do you party? Where where do you want to start with Oscars? Do we want to do outfits?
SPEAKER_02Sure.
SPEAKER_01Whatever you want. Yeah. Let's do outfits. You know what? Let's do um an old nostalgia component.
SPEAKER_04This is perfect because I'm ready to party is these girls. It's right here.
SPEAKER_00I love I think it was uh 10 years. Uh 15. 15 years since bridesmaids, yes. So we don't you feel old when they said that?
SPEAKER_04I thought it was actually gonna be 20. Like, I feel like this movie came out so long.
SPEAKER_01First of all, Moulin Rouge, 25 years. When he said that on stage, I was like, oh, we were literally children when we watched Mulan Rouge.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, bridesmaids. I and I my brother always references. I will I'll be the first to say my brother is always referencing things from bridesmaids and mean girls. I know none of it every time. What do you mean? Yeah, I know. I I I know Carlin, don't judge me. I have watched both, so I will say yes.
SPEAKER_04Once, probably, right?
SPEAKER_01Probably, yeah. Have do I remember any quotes or do I remember literally anything that's happened?
SPEAKER_04She's okay.
SPEAKER_00There are so many good ones from Mean Girls. I mean, when anybody says what's your limit, and you say the limit doesn't exist. Great. I do love that quote. I'm here for it.
SPEAKER_01Me neither. No, I haven't. So I so I'm like the most the worst person when it comes to well, you just don't you well, you just don't care for movies.
SPEAKER_04Like how many of the movies that were nominated for an Oscar this year did you watch? Zero. Zero.
SPEAKER_01Oh no, I watched F1. Oh, that wasn't a. Oh yeah, that was.
SPEAKER_03No, that was the F1.
SPEAKER_01I watched the F1.
SPEAKER_00Okay, that's the Sinners. Oh, shy. You have to see Sinners. He hasn't seen Sinners.
SPEAKER_04I haven't actually seen it.
SPEAKER_00You guys both have to see it. It is so good.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_00Matt and I Matt and I saw it in the theaters. Um, and then I was like, I really do want to watch it again before the Oscars. And so my parents hadn't seen it. So I watched it with them on Friday, and like they loved it. I mean, it is scary. Is it what? Scary? Not really. I mean, it's um gruesome a little, and there's like a little suspense, but like I wouldn't like it's not like the movie weapons that's like a legit horror film, you know.
SPEAKER_04Or it's the one where the supporting actress won where she looks insane.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_04I had no idea.
SPEAKER_00I do want to see that because I've heard that is very good, but I am a horror movie girly, so oh okay, yeah. Okay, that's good. I love it.
SPEAKER_01Okay, what do we think of their outfits?
SPEAKER_04I love it. This one comment is really getting me that says stunning in the Fritz Brunes, which is when they go bridal shopping and it's the dress that they are like, Oh, it's a Fritz, you have to get the Fritz Brene.
SPEAKER_00Should we give her a like? Love it. Also, Melissa McCarthy looks amazing, looks incredible.
SPEAKER_04That dress was horrible.
SPEAKER_01That is the one dress that I for me I would wear that. Yeah, I got them all of them. That was the one I was like, it's unique, it's great. I love the touch on the sleeves, the whole thing.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's great.
SPEAKER_01It was beautiful. Um, I also didn't know that she was married. What's her name?
SPEAKER_03Maya Rudolph.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I did not know that she was married to Paul, the director. Yeah, I had no idea of that. Yeah, so let's talk men.
SPEAKER_04Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_00Oh, let's talk broaches because yes, I love them. Had a brooch, they all did it. I love it. I loved it. And his back.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, say that again, Carlin.
SPEAKER_00Um, Michael B. Jordan had his on his uh in the collar in the back.
SPEAKER_01I did see that, and that was one of my notes to be like you missed. I knew you were gonna miss it. I did see that was very good. I also did not know that this was Macaulay Cockins' brother, so that my brother educated me on. Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_04He literally, he literally won. I know. It's like, oh, did you know this whole segment?
SPEAKER_01This segment is did you know to me? No, I did not.
SPEAKER_00Like, no, I know nothing.
SPEAKER_01I know Nathan's.
SPEAKER_04He literally won an Oscar last year.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I know. That movie was very good.
SPEAKER_04Yes, I told I was telling her about it. It's very good. Um do you know who Joe Alwyn is?
SPEAKER_01You know, I like his bow tie though.
SPEAKER_04You know who Swifty, why Swifties would know him? Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01He date her?
SPEAKER_04He dated her before like six years. Yeah. Oh, this is the guy. This is the guy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, this is the guy.
SPEAKER_00Very vanilla.
SPEAKER_01Um, oh, this little flower moment here.
SPEAKER_04Okay. Everyone did all wait, what do you think of La Roche's hair?
SPEAKER_00I love Law. And I also feel like I don't know if you've seen Zendaya's outfit, but like when I tell you, he never misses with her. She always looks phenomenal.
SPEAKER_04Just stunning. Just this like brown Louis Vuitton, flowy Wonderland.
SPEAKER_01I will tell you that as soon as I didn't know who he was either. As soon as he came up and he did one of the awards, I was like, Bun, I love his shirt. Just the touch that it has, it's going across.
SPEAKER_04It's called the Mandarin collar.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely. The mandarin collar. I was here, but I had never seen it kind of go over the colour.
SPEAKER_04Just a little bit of excess fabric. Yeah, you know what? I'm here for it.
SPEAKER_01I loved it. That was a great touch. Leo looks great still. Like, how does he still just look so good?
SPEAKER_04Because no, he's got nothing done, I don't think. Leo sometimes looks tired. It's a lot of makeup and and things that they button, he looks good.
SPEAKER_01Makeup or no makeup. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00He looks great. I mean, maybe because he dates 25-year-olds.
SPEAKER_01Correct. But how old do we think he is? Do you know how old he is?
SPEAKER_00Definitely in his 50s. For sure.
SPEAKER_0150s?
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. If not, he's late 40s. But I don't, I don't think he's close to me.
SPEAKER_04I 51.
SPEAKER_00Thank you.
SPEAKER_01He looks incredible for 51. I told you. I thought he was at 45.
SPEAKER_04Toshine screaming once again. Sorry, guys.
SPEAKER_01I scream because when I don't oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_04Also, yeah, hit us with that one.
SPEAKER_01This one is just too much. How to lose an Oscar in 10 days? This is incredible content from the internet.
SPEAKER_00Who are the people? Oh, it's Chalamet. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. People are your thoughts on that.
SPEAKER_00He got he got razzed a little bit.
SPEAKER_04And people were definitely poking at him, even though just like letting him know that uh they brought out Misty Copeland, who's a really famous ballerina. She performed in the centers. Um yeah, and she came out of retirement to literally show him how good it is. Yeah, front row seat, just a front row show.
SPEAKER_00And she knows wearing she was wearing the costume of the first show that she was the principal in. So she was like the first black principal, ballerina principal, and what she was wearing was the outfit that she wore.
SPEAKER_01I honestly the internet is so insane. I did not.
SPEAKER_04You don't know who that is, do you?
SPEAKER_01No, I think clearly I don't follow them. It says follow.
SPEAKER_04No, but do you know who Pedro Pascal is? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh, you I like his flower. I kind of liked his outfit. I like style. He looks very innocent and sweet.
SPEAKER_04But the fact that they've done a side by side with that little chicken.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, what is happening there? Oh my god. I wanted to show you guys.
SPEAKER_04Um I quickly want to know, Carlin, what did you think of the Oscars overall?
SPEAKER_00I thought it was really good. I thought it was so like I watch every award show regardless. Um and I feel like it was entertaining. Like sometimes, you know, you get a little like gets a little sleepy. But I think that I and they were saying this in one of the after shows I was watching, that all of the movies this year were all things that like people actually swatched and were like, oh, did you see this? Did you because a lot of times those some of those movies, like sadly, people are like, I I never saw that movie. Like, I've I forgot the one year there was one movie that I was like, I have never even heard of this movie. But I feel like this year all the nominees were movies that people like, if not everyone saw them, at least some people saw them, or there was some buzz about them, which I thought was great, which probably made it a little more like relatable-ish, I guess.
SPEAKER_04You know, everyone watched them except for Cheyenne.
SPEAKER_01I should have known. I should have known. I was awake till midnight watching the Chinese Grand Prix, though, but uh not a single movie, but not the movie.
SPEAKER_03Not watching.
SPEAKER_00No, you I mean, so normally, like I would say, I can't remember how long it's been, but Mad Knight, our goal was always to watch the the best picture films. Like we wanted to always like watch them, and we have watched the Oscars. Over the years, I feel like some I've had like not much of an interest to watch. But this year, I I mean, we got through we we've seen a lot of them. There's still some that we just didn't have time to that I'm like, oh, I kind of want to go back and watch. Um, like Hamnet, I'm like, is does that interest me? But like everyone's saying that it's really good. So like maybe I will because I think it's a new shock. Um, so I'm like, okay, maybe I'll watch that one. Um, but we watched it.
SPEAKER_01Do you watch it in theaters, or do you like let's watch it at home? Or what's like what's the goal with you and Matt? You're like, let's get the full experience in like a theater, or we're like, we're gonna pay on whatever platform and watch it at home.
SPEAKER_00So it depends. So like Sinners uh 2000, I was like in the theaters because it was a black movie, yeah. And I was like, I want to support, I love Michael B. Jordan, I love Ryan Kugler. I'm like, we have to go to the theaters to watch that movie. Um, that was the only one that was nominated that we saw in the theaters, and then we watched F1 at home. We watched um another battle after another at home.
SPEAKER_01Order food Friday, Saturday night. Okay, I love that. Um, should I share? Where are we right now? Okay, she was talking about it.
SPEAKER_00We watched another one in the theater. Sorry. The one with um Emma Stone, Begonia.
SPEAKER_04Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Was that this? It was crazy, but it was good. Like she like the other movie she did, I can't remember it now.
SPEAKER_04Um, she wasn't preferred that one. She was it was nuts.
SPEAKER_00Yes, it was so crazy. It's kind of like that a little bit. It's actually her actual hair.
SPEAKER_04I'm sure. Yeah, she was yeah, too tall.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, she only she's committing for the full guy's so short now. Yeah, uh yeah, makes sense. Um, I just want to talk about some of these incredible outfits that are not part of Austin.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, she's about to look yeah, absolutely Vanity Fair.
SPEAKER_01After some of these are I think even prettier than the um who that is. Who is that?
SPEAKER_04Uh that's Dua, but the one before you're wondering, right?
SPEAKER_01This is from Bridgetton. You know the Sri Lankan girl um that plays the role in Bridgetton, who is the eldest. Do you watch Bridgetton?
SPEAKER_00Um, so I watched the first season and started the second, and then I kind of stopped. Fizzled out. This is third season.
SPEAKER_04Simone Ashley, according to the comments. She looks incredible. I don't even know who that is.
SPEAKER_01She is um, I don't know, I think she's Sri Lankan, and she was one of like the first, like essentially brown girls to be like a kind of like a oh but Carlin.
SPEAKER_04We will be seeing her in The Devil Wears Prada 2.
SPEAKER_00Oh, amazing. Love that.
SPEAKER_01That kind of kicked off her the Bridgerton um third season. She's a little bit in the fourth, um, kicked off her career because she essentially dates and she's a main character and dates the eldest son. Oh, but uh, this is another. Um, there's Dualipa. I like her dress.
SPEAKER_00I think it's beautiful. I love her. She's so pretty. Oh god, she is tiny. Mindy. Yeah, Mindy is getting tiny.
SPEAKER_01A little bit too tiny, maybe.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I kind of miss, I kind of miss a little bit old Mindy, but I still love her.
SPEAKER_04This is Hollywood Mindy now, everyone.
SPEAKER_01I know. Um, so I was confused in what happened to her red dress, and then you told me that this is the after party. They change it. This is Kylie Jenner. Um, I don't know.
SPEAKER_04Which, by the way, that black dress, boring. Like this whole this whole thing is the most boring one out of I think like everything going on here. I love Scarelli, and she wore, I'm pretty sure it's Skeparelli, the red one with the little key cutoff. The red yeah, the red's nice. Um, it it is I didn't see I actually don't know what the full thing looks like.
SPEAKER_01I just saw her sitting down.
SPEAKER_04The red?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Kylie Jenner Oscars.
SPEAKER_04It's just glittery red.
SPEAKER_01I mean, yeah, it's fine.
SPEAKER_04But I just I just think there was like real hits on the car. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_00Like here, let me think. Do you think that because this is not her space that maybe she doesn't want to do the most, right? Like maybe I don't know. I just because it's him, right? This he it is for him. He is the actor, she's not an actress, so maybe he's not trying to, you know, she's just there.
SPEAKER_04You're in a red, sultry, shimmery, tight fitted. Is that you? Is that her not doing the most? Well, that is the biggest.
SPEAKER_00I feel like it's not it's not like I guarantee you she didn't put as much effort if they were going to the Met. Oh yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_04I understand. It's not yeah, it's complimenting, it's not taking away.
SPEAKER_01Though the black dress that you hated, it does look like I didn't hate it.
SPEAKER_04I just like there's no, there's just really good ones on there.
SPEAKER_01I didn't know there's a little side slip.
SPEAKER_04Oh my god, there's Steven just taking a book.
SPEAKER_00There's Stephen's feel working.
SPEAKER_04He's like, I finally got food because he finally got food for me.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god, he's like, I'm so hungry.
SPEAKER_04They are starved.
SPEAKER_00Uh some of those stuff is really starved.
SPEAKER_01Okay, let's go back into uh yeah, you wanted to what else? Who's that?
SPEAKER_04Um Gigi. There was a lot of white.
SPEAKER_01That's Gigi's sister, no?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, Bella. Oh, this is the one you liked.
SPEAKER_01If you're watching, sorry, if you're not watching, and if you guys are listening to this podcast, we apologize, but you can Jessica Alba has a little feather.
SPEAKER_04Oh, yes. Like working with her and following her around. See, like that's black sequence, but like that makes it a bit more interesting. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's she's looks incredible.
SPEAKER_04She looks insanely good.
SPEAKER_01He's the guy that sang we know Robert Patterson. Okay.
SPEAKER_04Oh, this is this.
SPEAKER_01This is uh Ivor, yeah. Look at that. It's like her insides, but she's so it's good.
SPEAKER_00She likes weird stuff like that, though. It suits her.
SPEAKER_04I like it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it does. She's a little interesting. Yeah, good for her. Julia Fox looked crazy too.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00But she always does.
SPEAKER_04Anna just looks like a little little p. I mean, listen.
SPEAKER_00Listen.
SPEAKER_04Listen.
SPEAKER_00Listen.
SPEAKER_04Listen. This is this moment is pretty good too.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that is very good.
SPEAKER_01No, no, they're not eating.
SPEAKER_00I assume everyone's bowling. They're on Ozempi. Yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah. Whatever. Whatever it is. That's Leo's white.
SPEAKER_01Oh, she was the one in the opening ceremonies for the Italian thing. She looks good. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh, really? Oh. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01I don't know who this is. Rita Aura?
SPEAKER_04It looks like Rita Aura, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Also great jewelry this time around. I really like a very sparkly. Yes. Prionna Cobra looked great.
SPEAKER_04I really like sparkly asses. This one.
SPEAKER_01This is yeah, this also looks incredible. Like this is like a I don't know what that is, but the peacock gambit that's happening with her. Is it peacock? Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00There we go. Oh wow. That is covering her top half.
SPEAKER_01That looks nice. We don't know who that is, but that I thought was pretty great. What else did I have for you guys? Oh, here we go. Which one do you want? This one? I have not still watched Heated Rivalry. Correct. But they look great. Look at his little like bit on the top. A little train. Yeah, looks great.
SPEAKER_04Do you think, Carlin, they coordinated that we're both wearing mesh like see-through tops?
SPEAKER_002000%.
SPEAKER_01I think so, yeah.
SPEAKER_04They just, I mean, come on. Come on. It's giving movie star. Sorry, this is such a this is such a visual part.
SPEAKER_01This is this is very visual. So if you're listening, I apologize. You can watch it on YouTube and you can probably watch it on Spotify. Yeah. What we're trying to show because we're not being very descriptive.
SPEAKER_04See through and my goodness.
SPEAKER_01Yes, they look they look great.
SPEAKER_04They look good for them freaking tastic.
SPEAKER_01I think that's all I really had for outfits.
SPEAKER_04For visuals.
SPEAKER_01For visuals. Um do you guys have any last thoughts on the Oscars?
SPEAKER_00Um, well, my cobby Jordan won for Best Actor, which was fantastic. I think now he's the eighth black man to win that award. Oh yeah. Mm-hmm. Sinners, I believe, had um Best Cinematography, which was won by a female. For the first time ever. Time ever, which was amazing. Um Ryan Kugler won uh oh my gosh. No, not director.
SPEAKER_04Um was it?
SPEAKER_00Um original screenplay.
SPEAKER_04Original screenplay, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um and then they had one more, and I can't remember what the other one is. That happened to me the the other day. I was trying to remember it. Um and then another battle after, another battle after one battle after I know they won a couple of awards too, which I was happy because that movie was really good. Um I think while everyone, I mean, I love Tiana Taylor, um, I wanted her to win. I'm glad she won in some of the other award like award ceremonies. Um but I think everyone was very happy that the one the woman who won for uh supporting actress won, which was Oh, that's good. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01That's good that everyone the Irish woman wasn't she the one no no no. Oh, she won Best Actress Hamnet. I thought her speech was incredible.
SPEAKER_00The best actress, but yeah, yeah, yeah, so good. And like um, I just love Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Kugler. I just love that they have such a partnership and have worked together for so many years and such great movies, too. Like the two of them together, I feel like make magic.
SPEAKER_01Like, uh it is what else did I have on my notes for you guys?
SPEAKER_04You had a note saying Mariah. Um you had a note saying Barbara Streisand sang at 83.
SPEAKER_01I had a note saying I said I had a note saying Mariah could never live like that at 83.
SPEAKER_00Oh don't do the don't do the diva like that. Don't like that.
SPEAKER_01I love Mariah, but her fake singing, it just drives me a little bit up.
SPEAKER_00Listen, I uh we understand, but sometimes Do we know?
SPEAKER_01Do we understand? Because Barbara Streisand at 83 just pulled all the chords at the Oscars.
SPEAKER_00I mean, did she pull all the chords or did she she was a chord at 83?
SPEAKER_01Come on.
SPEAKER_00Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_01I'm not either that anymore. She doesn't even like it just annoys me.
SPEAKER_04She doesn't even attempt half a chord.
SPEAKER_00No, but she's also probably like, I don't need to. Now, maybe when she's 80, she may need to and may need to get a la la.
SPEAKER_04Like I was going to say that I think an interesting uh fact is you know, what people kind of wonder like who is the academy? Because all the they go up and they're like, We want to thank the academy. And it's like it's 11,000 professionals, including actors, cinematographers, directors, produce like all these people, they are their peers, literally the people that they're looking at, are part of the academy, and they all have to watch all the movies, and they are the ones that vote, which is why I think it's interesting that the whole Timothy Chalamet thing, like he was the clear front runner to win the Oscar. Um, and then he made that comment last week, and so it dipped his chances completely.
SPEAKER_01What did you read? But you read that they already made the book.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I did read, and I'm curious, I'm like, I'm not a hundred percent sure about because it it says that you know the votes were already in.
SPEAKER_00Right. But then sorry, go ahead.
SPEAKER_04No, no, I was just gonna say it does seem like it clearly affected his chance because he all the stats were pointing in a very clear win for him, and then he makes the comment last week. And so were not all the votes like do they wait till last minute? Do a lot of the voters wait till last minute? I don't I just still don't know the full vertical.
SPEAKER_00My thing is now I didn't I didn't watch Marty Supreme, and while I'm sure he it it was a great movie, I just think how do you not how do you not look at somebody who is playing two different characters? I think that's the key. You know what I mean? And like that, and and the fact of the matter is that I remember sitting in that theater and and toward at the end being like there were times where I literally forgot that like he did not have a twin. Like that is not real. Yeah, he is playing two, like you know what I mean, and like you have to be very good, like the their inflictions were different, there were so many differences about them, and to be able to do that, I think is huge. I mean, I in my mind, I was like, if he does not win, people should riot, and maybe maybe I need to watch uh Marty Supreme and see what everybody else was like him and Han about early on, but I don't know.
SPEAKER_04I just do you know how many other like leading up to the Oscars, how many uh of the awards Michael B. Jordan won? Do you know?
SPEAKER_00Um he won, I think he won one other time. I know Timothy did win. Did he win the Golden Globe? Maybe yeah, I think he did. He did. Timothy did win that. And then so I feel like Michael might have won one of the other random, not I don't want to say random, but one of the other ones. Awards.
SPEAKER_01Um I have a question for you guys who are like all up in the Oscars and things, because of course I still feel like Leo got shafted from Titanic, which is my opinion. Like he should have five years ago, he should still win that. What's your guess on how many awards Leo has? How many Oscars?
SPEAKER_00I don't think he I'm trying to think what he would have gotten one for. Oh, did he get one for um what's the uh oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_01He has one, you're right. Like he the whatever you're thinking of, he he has only one when he's in that frozen iceberg place, like that movie when he's just frozen the whole time.
SPEAKER_00Remnant, remn remn rem revenant, the revenant. Yes, that's for the revenant? Yes, he did. Ah, look at me.
SPEAKER_01That's a good job, Carlin. That's impressive. Okay, so when we were watching it last night, Bun and I, and I'm like, he's only gotten one. I think for me, I think we my mom and I are still big Leo fans. Okay. So then we were like, okay, but I'm like, how many does Brad Pitt have? What's your guess?
SPEAKER_04I'm like, none. There's no way he has two.
SPEAKER_00Oh, wait, yeah, he got one for set for seven, right? I don't know. I don't know which ones they are.
SPEAKER_01Okay, how many does George Clooney have?
SPEAKER_04I want to guess one.
SPEAKER_00Ooh, uh. Yeah, I would say one for George or maybe zero. Two! Oh, two.
SPEAKER_01So I was like, okay, if George and who do you think has the most um Oscars?
SPEAKER_04Like one actor?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, there's only three. He had this person has three.
SPEAKER_03And it's definitely a white man.
SPEAKER_01D D L Daniel Day Lewis. He has three because he won it for Abraham or Lincoln, right? Then he won it for that. Was in 2012, There Will Be Blood in 07, and my left in 1989. Wow. So that's pretty impressive. And there's there's not too many others that have two, but um, Sean Penn, who did not show up and people called him out. Yeah, that was a little hilarious. He's won two. Yeah. So I don't know if this included his third, which would have been the one he got.
SPEAKER_04I think this would have been his third win. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01If you can. So then then what was the one that um Brad won for?
SPEAKER_04Oh, Brad won supporting actor for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood in 2020. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00So I mean yes. I mean, that was a very good movie to me.
SPEAKER_04It was a great movie.
SPEAKER_01And then um Tom Hanks has two, Jack Nicholson has two, uh, which Dustin Hoffman has two, Gary Cooper, Anthony Hopkins.
SPEAKER_04I just thought it was like I'd like you to know that Sean Penn has two. Has three now because he got one yesterday. I don't know. I don't think I don't think he was ever present for any of the awards. I don't think he's ever like to be fair.
SPEAKER_01Good for him. Like, who cares? Like, you got the Oscar, keep it moving, you're good at your art.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but some people, I mean, it's fun to celebrate with your people. That is true. Maybe he just doesn't care for fake Hollywood.
SPEAKER_01She is pop.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So that was my like fun fact for you guys because I had to look at the side.
SPEAKER_04Okay, wait, I have I have one that's devastating. Diane Warren, the like the incredible songwriter. Oh, yeah. She's been literally what feels like every year I watch these, she's been nominated with a song.
SPEAKER_01Diane Warren?
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Nominated 17 times. Not one. Never won. Wow. Never won. Diane Warren. She is almost seven years of age. She has written and she's written some of the most songs. Oh god. Incredible music. Like she has written some of the songs.
SPEAKER_01Is she Canadian?
SPEAKER_04No, it says American songwriter top left.
SPEAKER_01She's almost 70.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, what was her whole thing about never having a British person? They're all upset that they haven't been nominated in the past 14 years.
SPEAKER_00Wait, what?
SPEAKER_01Didn't Brian uh what's his name? Conan O'Brien. Conan O'Brien. I was going to say Brian O'Connor.
SPEAKER_00He said this was the first year that there wasn't a British person nominated.
SPEAKER_01Right, that's what he was saying. I thought it was like it had they had been nominated for a while. And he's like, well, it wasn't his opening thing about oh, but we um have was he talking about uh Andrew?
SPEAKER_04Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like he made a he made a joke about like at least we're gonna be.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, that was the bit. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, the the Brits arrest pedophiles or whatever it was.
SPEAKER_01It was America that we that we do that.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay, any last bits before I quickly transition to one more last thing before um any Oscar things you guys want to end up with. Anyone who's logged in want to chime in on anything Oscar's. Let me just quickly hey Shuggy. I see you saying hey in the chat.
SPEAKER_00Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_01Okay, okay. Um, I think I'm gonna end there with all things Oscars. Okay, I think that's a lot. Yeah, um what would you like to talk about? Okay, the the one that you usually want to like log off on. I do need to fill you a little bit about golf. A lot happened in golf, especially for Canadian players. Oh so the players, which is the golf tournament, the only golf professional tournament that you've been to. Um Carlin, which happens in Florida. It's they consider it uh one of the fifth major, if you will. And so let me just get straight to my notes part because I really went for it with golf world cup. Oh, did it just get nicely deleted? No, it's right here. Okay, okay, so I wanted to kind of like tell you guys a little bit about the players. Um, Cameron Young, who is a golfer, he won. So I don't want to bore you about who won, what happened, all of that. I kind of want to hit you guys more with like the money and the difference in the money that's currently happening in golf. So, the winner of the players, what's your guess on in the millions on what the the winner won? Which is like the fifth major. So, what's your guess?
SPEAKER_042.3.
SPEAKER_00Okay, Carly, what's your guess? Ooh, I'm gonna say 15 mil.
SPEAKER_01Oh damn, 15 mil for winning a golf tournament. I mean, we love to hear it, but no. He won he won 4.5 million. Uh and she said, boom, where are the sponsors at? Um, he won 4.5 million, which I was like, whoa, I kind of was like taken aback by that number. And then Live Golf is in Singapore, which is nowhere close to being a major or a big golf tournament. What do you think that so Bryson DeChambeau won that golf tournament in Singapore? It looks beautiful. What do you in a playoff, which I'll talk about in a second? What's your guess on what did Bryson DeChambeau win at that Singapore event? Eight mil. Dang, eight mil, okay.
SPEAKER_046.4.
SPEAKER_01Damn, no, okay. He won 4 million, but I was just thinking so Cameron Young won in the PGA tour, what they consider a fifth major, which majors usually just like in tennis, you win a lot more. And he won 4.5 million with a massive field, 70 players in the cut, all of that. And then Bryson casually at like a live golf event in Singapore just wins 4 million. That just shows you how much money they have so much money, yeah. PIF has put so much money into that, but that has also sparked the PJ Tour to start making their events with more money so then they don't take a lot more PJ Tour event players. Along with last episode, I was telling my brother that the new CEO he's come out with like bold statements on what he's doing. The tour is gonna be not as many tournaments, it's gonna be shorter, more condensed, and the prize money is gonna be a lot more. So he's trying to keep it competitive so other young athletes don't go to towards live, is my guess. But I just kind of wanted to tap in for a second. What do you think Jack Nicholas, who also won this tournament in 1974? Oh god. What do we think he won?
SPEAKER_04The players?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, uh 350,000. Ooh, okay.
SPEAKER_04Uh okay, for yeah, that makes sense. Probably like uh 450.
SPEAKER_01$50,000.
SPEAKER_00Yikes.
SPEAKER_01Well so in 1974, Jack Nicholas, the Tiger Woods of our era, won$50,000 in 2026. They're winning$4.5 million. So let me just put this into perspective. Sorry, what year? I'm just trying to 1974.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_01The the players this year who were last, who made the cut, so they played Saturday, Sunday, who were technically last. There's like four of them tied for like 70th or whatever, they made$50,000. Right. So it is so insane.
SPEAKER_04I did a quick Google. What do you think$50,000 in 74 is worth today?
SPEAKER_011.2 million.
SPEAKER_04I meant that episode. It's so it's only worth$300k.
SPEAKER_01Oh, so you guys are kind of right then.
SPEAKER_04So it's like so yeah.
SPEAKER_01In today's day and age, it'd be like$300,000. But again, that's a number one player winning that in what is considered a major. That is crazy top. So because of Live, I just want to again put in things into perspective. The numbers over here show that so think uh think COVID-ish, 2021. The player was getting 2.7 million. Okay, then live golf kind of came into play. They bumped it the following year to 3.6 million.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so from 2.7, you get an extra million, it's gone to 3.6 million, and from 22 to 2, because of again live, they went to 4.5 million.
SPEAKER_04Oh, yeah, they're they're jumping this number.
SPEAKER_00They are they have to because they don't want them to jump ship or they want them to still be competitive, I guess.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, absolutely. So that was interesting to me. And then from that, this is what I wanted to share, which this is the main story. I know I should be talking about the guy who won, but like the real story. Let me just share my screen.
SPEAKER_04What is the story?
SPEAKER_01Guys, it's this is this crazy story. Only because I do YouTube, I kind of want to. Oh, some, I'm not sharing screen. One second, please, please hold.
SPEAKER_04We are sharing screen.
SPEAKER_01We're sharing screen. We're gonna be in this bottom corner. Tucked away. Okay, this story is crazy.
SPEAKER_04I'd love for you to pronounce his last name first.
SPEAKER_01Um, I will say his first name first. So his first name is Sudarshan, is how I'll probably say it. What do you think? Yellow. Sudarshan?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, Sudarshan. Yeah, great.
SPEAKER_01Yella Mara Ju. Yellamara ju.
SPEAKER_04Easy, break it down.
SPEAKER_01Sudarshan, Yella Mara Ju. I'm just gonna quickly read what it says here. And if you can't, uh just listen, if you're listening, great. Listen up. Okay, he played in the players. He is uh he is born in India but Canadian.
SPEAKER_04Sure.
SPEAKER_01Similar to like I guess I was born in Pakistan, but Canadian. Okay, so he finished top 10 in the players, which is huge, right? So who is who is he? He was born in India, moved with his family to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. So cold AF. So incredible, as a preschooler.
unknownIncredible.
SPEAKER_01Um, he started hitting the range with his dad locally in an indoor golf dome because if you don't know Winnipeg, very cold, very cold. Um, and then he was fascinated by the game, so he started watching YouTube videos of Coach. He started watching, I knew my brother was gonna go there. He started watching Coach Cheyenne YouTube videos at the prime age of 11. Absolutely did not. He started watching YouTube videos and um golf on TV with his dad, Suresh, and he became serious about it. So he began analyzing Tiger Woods' swing and Rory's swing, sure, which makes sense. So he learned golf off of YouTube. He is now, and then he was gonna Like he it was kind of late at joining golf, similar to like not me comparing myself to him, but similar to me. I learned golf very late, like 16, but I think he started a little bit late. So he wasn't at 11. So I guess he wasn't in the mindset of oh, I can get a golf scholarship or he was just too late for that.
SPEAKER_04He wouldn't even know yeah.
SPEAKER_01So, anyways, he then decided that I'm just gonna go pro. So he goes pro at 19. And so, Carlin, uh um, last week we were talking about the PGA tour and what they're gonna do in 2028. I think is if you're the bottom, let's say 10 players or six players, you're gonna get relegated and you're gonna go into the what tour?
SPEAKER_04The oh fairy, fairy uh corn fairy.
SPEAKER_01So so there, so Darshan, he um actually joined the Corn Fairy Tour. So he's in the tier below, but sometimes you get exemptions to join. So he got the exemption to play in this. Okay, so it says that he earned his Corn Fairy Tour card in 2024 via the Q school, and he was a rookie, he won the second event in 25, and ultimately, oh, his first PGA tour card. Yeah, sorry, uh, um, on the Corn Fairy Tour, based off of points, essentially. Anyways, this guy went from watching YouTube, getting lessons, to then busting his butt, breaking it down to what an unorthodox way of getting into golf and then learning and then coming in top 10 at a very, very big tournament with the world's best golfers, which is so hard. I'm just so proud of him. I cannot even explain to the people.
SPEAKER_03We love a story, we love a story.
SPEAKER_01So that's a big Canadian story for all of you. The next one Live Tour.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01Everyone hang tight. Okay, also, like we should probably Cameron Young, he's the one who actually won the players. His kids are too cute, three kids just running. Um, it's just all so emotional. He hadn't won in like a very long time, and this year he's already won two tournaments. So it's a nice shift that's happening there. Um, hang tight, please, as I scroll through my feed to show you everything I've saved for you people.
SPEAKER_03What is this?
SPEAKER_01Um, I wanted to show you live golf, and I really hope I saved it because I wanted to show you the Canadian. Did I save his picture? So, like I said, they played in Singapore. Dang it. Uh no, it for some reason it hadn't saved the same arm. Okay, you just see my face.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna remove share.
SPEAKER_04Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Singapore, Bryson won, and he it wasn't very close for him. He was in a tiebreaker, and then they went out to go play. So the player that he played against was Richard T. Lee. Um, he mostly played on the Asian tour. So he's never really like, you know, played on the PJ tour and stuff. So listen to this. Richard T. Lee had a two-foot putt to tie Bryson to take it to another hole. They'd already tied three or four holes in like um essentially like a playoff round, just the two of them, because it had the best score. So then they went in by hole by hole in the playoff round, and he had a two-foot putt he had to make, and he missed it for Bryson to win. But listen to his story. Okay, so Richard T misses the two-foot putt. Um, and he's a 35-year-old, uh, nearly doubled in career earnings just this week, as opposed to his whole career earnings. He's doubled in just one week of playing on the live tour. So I was really feeling for him and just so proud of him. Okay, prior to the live tour, 15 years playing on the Asian tour, Raleigh is a three-time winner. Um, so most players, if they can't make the Corn Fairy tour, they play in the Asian tour, they play in the Latin American tour, they play in different tours to try and win, and then you get exemptions into coming into the PGA tour. Okay, so he had a courier earning of 2.5 million after Sunday's big payday. He has now earned more than three million in less than three months on live. Um, and in 2007, he qualified for the US Open at the age of 16. At that time, he became the second youngest player to play the championship. And Lee is the first and only Canadian player to play on the Live tour. I really want to show you guys a picture of him just because we gotta do him some justice. But two Canadians, different tours, same sport, golf.
SPEAKER_04Please hold for Googling.
SPEAKER_01Please hold for images. Um, and I will say live golf. You know what? I actually had it open, you guys. I had this all like very staged for all of you.
SPEAKER_04All laid out. It was all laid out, and it was just right there.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I have three data, but you know, it was I did do all the hard work, and we're just gonna start.
SPEAKER_04When you have 700 taps, Carlin, it can get very tricky to find the one you were looking for.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, everyone sharing screen. Can you see the screen? Here it is. This is Bryson winning, and this is our boy Richard Lee, which is not a great photo of him.
SPEAKER_04No, it's a very tiny photo.
SPEAKER_01There we go. There he is. There is Richard. He dropped that two-foot putt. He missed the two-foot put. Oh my gosh, you guys want to see oh devastation.
SPEAKER_03And watch this.
SPEAKER_00This is the devastation. Look at that.
SPEAKER_01For sure, devastation nation. And those are the Canadian stories I have. Also, if you did not know, it was the end of the Paralympic winter paralympics, which we were telling you earlier, hardly got any coverage over here. But you were educating us that if you had Peacock, yep, that it's front and center.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, front and center every time you sign on. Mainly in the mornings, because obviously that's when stuff is live. But um some things you can re-watch, but for the most part, if you log in in the morning, it'll be on your like front like bar like rotation.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so I do want to acknowledge the fact that summer Paralympics gets, I think, a lot more attention, but the winter does need to get it, and I hope that the next time that it happens, that they start you know showcasing it, and it shows up on my feet just as much as the Winter Olympics did in Milan this year for us. It was blowing our feet up, so I just hope they do give as much coverage the next time that'll be eight years. Four years. Winter happens every four.
SPEAKER_04Oh, I think summer.
SPEAKER_00Winter's every two, summers every four.
SPEAKER_04Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Is it really? Yeah, unless they change that. Why is that? I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Winter Olympics happens every two years. Winter Olympics, yeah, every four or two. That's crazy. That's so much organization.
SPEAKER_04Every four every four it says.
SPEAKER_01What the Winter Olympics are held every four years, however, they're scheduled on a staggered alternating two-year cycle with the summer. Yeah, every each happens. So it just feels so 26. Right.
SPEAKER_00Okay, two from the summer.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so 28 will be summer, yeah, and then 30 will be winter, and then 30.
SPEAKER_04Each happens every just feel like every two with the way this they stagger them.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I was like, well, that is so Carlin, number one, thank you so much for joining us. We are way over our one-hour limit. Oh, yeah. My brother never survived if it was just me and him, he would have said it's lunchtime.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So thank you so much for joining us for all of your insight and intel on and everything else. Um, if you are still with us listening, thanks for listening for an hour and 15 minutes of us blabbing. But there were so many sporting events that happened this weekend, which was heavenly for someone like myself, and then the officers for both of you who knew all the things and were educating me. Thank you so much on the education.
SPEAKER_04Zero movies, no, one movie, the F1 movie. The sports-related movie was watched.
SPEAKER_01I like this.
SPEAKER_00I would like you to at least see one more.
SPEAKER_01You know what? I will I also I watch Sinners. I think I'll I think I will um We need to watch it. Yes, um, and then I just want to end with who's excited about Devil Devil Verse Prada 2.
SPEAKER_03Me, a movie that is where I will be watching.
SPEAKER_01I don't know why um maybe nostalgic. It's just great. It's fun.
SPEAKER_03I love it.
SPEAKER_01That's a little spicy. I just like all the things in it. So I'll be you know what, I'll watch that in theaters.
SPEAKER_04Oh, oh wow, where's Prada 2 campaign is working on her?
SPEAKER_01It is working, they had a lot of ads, first of all. Yeah, and they even did a little like collab bit like on stage and bringing Anna Winter and the whole thing.
SPEAKER_00Yes, yes, uh-huh.
SPEAKER_01Which was it was great, yeah. So again, Carlin, thank you. And if you're listening, make sure to give us a like. If you haven't subscribed to my YouTube channel, what are you doing?
SPEAKER_04What are we waiting for? Because that kid obviously watched your YouTube videos and then almost won the players.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely, and that's how it starts, Carlin. Oh, on the YouTube note, the Oscars will be transitioning in 2029 onto YouTube.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, they did say that. That was actually very funny. Those two were amazing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, his rooks were great. And I also had to Google because at the very end, it said Mr. Beast on his thing. And I'm like, is Mr. Beast gonna be hosting the 2020 like nine Oscars? And they said that is incorrect, that had nothing to do with it. So you were right on that one.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, there's no joke, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Correct. Yeah, all right, friends. Um, so thank you again for joining. Yes, hopefully we're gonna we have another podcast on Thursday, Carlin. You might get an invite back for round two.
SPEAKER_00Oh my gosh, I'm dead. Hilarious! I love it.
SPEAKER_01We'll see you then. Ciao, ciao.
SPEAKER_00Bye bye.
