Places everyone, places, places.
SPEAKER_00Places everyone. We're in Seattle and we are now live. Welcome from the sidelines. We're legit the sidelines in a hotel room.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, legit. In the dining room to be sure.
SPEAKER_00And I have like my favorite people on, which I'm so excited. Of course, you guys all know my brother Bomin. He is here to give us all the sass that nobody needs, except he's gonna give it to us. And then we have another sass screen from I mean, Miami, actually, but living in Atlanta, we have Kristen with that. What an intro! I feel so honored. Oh my god, hi.
SPEAKER_01Oh mommy.
SPEAKER_00Um, hola mommy. Okay, so I'm just really excited because I haven't seen my very dear friend Kristen in a long time. She's doing amazing things.
SPEAKER_02I love that for me. Thank you.
SPEAKER_00Yes, she's doing amazing things. She works for US soccer, and as you guys know or don't know, we have the World Cup happening in US, Canada, and Mexico. I think it's the first time ever in three different countries. I think so. That they're going to have the World Cup, which is super cool. So I can't wait to hear from her, all like you know what? Maybe we can just start with what's happening with US soccer. Why am I in town? And then tell us what you guys are doing for the World Cup.
SPEAKER_02Oh my gosh, so many things. So the great women's national team has brought us together here in Seattle because they are taking on Japan tomorrow. It'll be the second of three matches. So we played Japan three times in a row. So the first one was in San Jose. This one's in Seattle, and then they're gonna go to Denver next. So we're in town for all the things to watch. Let me think, domination on the field. Uh, we have four stars above our crest because we've won four World Cups. So yeah, so it's a thing. So it's it'll be just dropping gems on us. Just reminding the folks of the truth. And then after the day after the game, we have this really cool event that we do that's called She Believes Summit, where we bring in top executives. Like, you just told me who? Like Melinda French Gates. Uh, okay, can I just have like 1% of your fortune girl?
SPEAKER_01Uh so Hillary and I'll take half of her, I'll take a 0.5%.
SPEAKER_02Whatever, like donate it to me. I'm the newest charity. Like, yes. We'll figure it out. But we have a green lineup of badass women, and the hope is really to just inspire people, right, to pursue your dreams and just like you know, break barriers and be a badass woman.
SPEAKER_00So we'll have that whole summit. So that's a short sleeves summit. That's really, really exciting, actually. Yeah, not only is it like the football the day before that if you're a big soccer person and you, you know, supporting women's sports, also I did not know they won four World Cups. So the US national team, obviously, maybe not the men, don't hurt me, but uh the women are clearly crushing it. Um, and then we get to go to the summit. I'm just so excited to be around more powerful, amazing women that aren't really only in sport, but like different fields, right? Like in different areas that they're just crushing their field and gonna come and speak to us.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so you have business women, you have women that work in sports, journalism, a lot of scientists, right? Like, wow, there's a science behind why women are more prone to injuries, right? Like your periods. Like there are things about the female anatomy that people don't consider for things. We're gonna learn more about it. So it's really just a feel-good day of just celebrating, right, how far we've come and all the accomplishments we have, and then obviously celebrating all the cool things ahead. So it's really awesome. So we're gonna use the women to kick off all the fun things ahead for the men's World Cup. So the men are playing a game here in Seattle on June 19th against Australia. That's the second game of the group stage. I know way too much off the top of my head, so just bear with me. I know.
SPEAKER_00Also, I need you in the screen. Because we're alive, I need you in. Okay, let's give her the stakes.
SPEAKER_02So this is also in preparation for the men's world cup that's coming up, right? So, like, we need our men to get a little bit of like the good juju from the women. We haven't the men have not won a World Cup yet. You know, they are not at the top of the list of dominating.
SPEAKER_00It's hard. Let's just be honest. You're an honest person.
SPEAKER_02It's gonna be hard. But I still believe I know we'll make it out of the group stage, and I know that they will show up.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But it's one of those things that Seattle is one of the big host cities. So the guys are gonna play a game here, June 19th, and it's gonna be badass. They're gonna play against Australia. Let's hope that there's some fine ass Australian men that come to support the team so I can sit next to some of them as a match. And we have a W. You know what?
SPEAKER_00It's a double win. I'm sure my brother probably also wishes that.
SPEAKER_01I'll come join you.
SPEAKER_02Join you.
SPEAKER_01I'll come join you.
SPEAKER_02And sports always brings us together, so you know, we're on brand.
SPEAKER_00But you know what's also really like fun and great is that because Vancouver is also a host city, that if she's coming to Seattle, we I feel like we're gonna get tons of people, maybe that never been to Canada, never been to Vancouver, that can just cross the border. And a fun fact for everyone, I'm just gonna zoom in because I need to tell you this fun fact. I've taken the bus from Vancouver to Seattle today to see her because I needed to make this happen. And it's three hours from the Hard Rock Casino in Richmond, close to the airport, and drops you right at the smack center of downtown Seattle, and then also continues on to the airport for$50.
SPEAKER_02I didn't realize it was that cheap.
SPEAKER_00So cheap for three hours. Come on. So, like I would I would give yourself like a plus or minus, three and a half, even like maybe four, because our bus wasn't full of people. We took, I took the first one out like at 7 20 a.m. And I don't know, like I just think it's great. Bring your passport, don't bring any fruits with you because you're not allowed to take fruits across the border. And I feel like tons of um people, just the cross-border sports, I think will be really great for both the cities. People don't really come to the Northwest, Pacific Northwest, which is quite sad. We were talking about that. We were we rushed back for this podcast today. Um, we were having drinks with a lovely friend of ours who works at Amazon.
SPEAKER_01I thought you were going to say that, Shy, that you met this person because he crossed the border, came and watched a soccer game in Vancouver, and then you became pals, and now you're in Seattle having a drink with him. Like, I thought that's what you were gonna talk about, but not the fact that you took a bus.
SPEAKER_00But you know, you just did, so there everybody now knows that story.
SPEAKER_01You know what? I'm good, I'm just gonna put on my lip gloss.
SPEAKER_02The beauty of sport, bringing people together.
SPEAKER_00Like it's just like popping.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we were we were catching up with him, and I'm like, how have we not known you forever? And second of all, how have you only met Chi like three days ago at a second? No, he said 24 hours ago, which was 24 hours, which is also true.
SPEAKER_00I met him Saturday night, and I was coming to see her, anyways, on Monday morning. Anyways, that's a whole separate story, but I just think that A, yes, sports does bring people together. B, I think that this World Cup gives us such an amazing opportunity for people that haven't been to the Pacific Northwest to really show, showcase how beautiful it is here, and especially in the summer. And what people don't realize, Bun, how late does the sun set in the summer?
SPEAKER_01Oh, it's uh yeah, 10 p.m. It's really nice.
SPEAKER_00And so people from other parts of the world would have never ever experienced the sun like setting, and then by the time it's like 10:30, 1045, it's still bright outside, like it's not like hardcore dark. So that's a new experience. So your days are just longer, you really get to experience that. And so when you have the East Coast games, which is like midnight for them, it's like 9 p.m. for us. So we're it's a different way of experiencing just sports in general. And then I like the affordability of having the bus. So again, there's more, less cars on the road. We're getting across the border faster, and then you can come back and forth, not us being tourists in Pacific Northwest right now for like football, but for anyone coming, that's how I would actually do it. I think it's a it's a very easy, convenient way of checking both amazing cities out.
SPEAKER_01Also, for Americans, and this has been a fact for a while, it is cheaper because of the currency. So it's like 40% cheaper for them to come to watch a game in Vancouver than it is for us to come the other way. But yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, VIP, like what am I getting? Like, tell tell me everything. Like, what's what's the food?
SPEAKER_00What's the food is really, really good.
SPEAKER_01So our food is good. Seattle's a good city, but Vancouver's way better. It's so walkable. There's so many like restaurants scene, coffee, like on every imagined like layout, it's a way better city, like by far.
SPEAKER_00Wow, I hope no one from Seattle is logged in because they want to.
SPEAKER_01I mean, if they've if they've been to both, I don't think it's you can't argue it. There is no arguing a fact.
SPEAKER_00You know who we're gonna ask on Wednesday? Melinda Gates.
SPEAKER_02Ask her if she's been I have a real question. Like, what's the hill situation? Because let me tell you here, not about it. Listen, I am down for all the but these are like steep hills, so it's not not only do I have to like shuffle, really down, but then on the way up, I'm like, really, don't look at anything. I gotta lean a little bit more. Like, I don't, I don't, I don't like, you know, like I don't give in to gravity like too much, but it's a like my legs are tired. No, it's it's beautiful, but it's not like this.
SPEAKER_01No, not at all. It's non-existent. Our downtown Korshi is flat. There are no hills.
SPEAKER_00No, well, that's aggressive to say there's no hills, but wait, wait, wait, I'm gonna disclaimer Mount Pleasant, your area has hills, sure, but nothing even remotely close to Seattle's hills, first of all. I'm not gonna lie, we are definitely the W hotel and you can see the water, and it's maybe six blocks away, five blocks away, but I keep looking and I'm like, I'll go down, but there's no way we're it's like literally a ski hill.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I know, I know. I've been enough times to know.
SPEAKER_00The problem is that currently I have an ankle fracture that I'm healing. It's a lot of walking. It's it's you've got to take baby steps and just breathe through it, I guess.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, if Vancouver does not have this, I will be there tomorrow. So if there wasn't a game tomorrow, I'd be there tonight.
SPEAKER_00Okay, let's see if anyone, if you have just logged in on the live, welcome. I didn't even do an intro today. I just went straight for I was so excited. Um, speaking of the okay, you have a mug in your hand, so let's just do a smooth transition. So the master's where is your you don't have a master's mug at your house?
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_00Oh, we're gonna change that.
SPEAKER_01So I don't need another mug. Don't don't give me a mug. Except if it's a master's mug, except if it's a master's mug.
SPEAKER_02So funny that you bring that up because I definitely told Shy earlier, I go, listen, the best mug I've ever received in my life is a master's mug. Not only is it the weight, give me time. Not only is it the weight of the mug, it's the depth of the mug. It really is like just enough where I can get a great cup of coffee, enough cream in there to just make it great. It is one of my favorite mugs that I've ever made. It's so funny. It's a great mug. It's not a flimsy piece of shit. Like, sorry if I'm not it's like a sturdy it's it's and it's a simple decoration, it's a great mug.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_01The size is right, the weight is right, it carries enough liquid, it looks good. It it checks all the things. I agree. It checks all the things.
SPEAKER_00So speaking about the masters, because I'm so happy both of you love the mugs, and when she told me earlier, I'm like, oh, you have to say it on the podcast today. I'm like, Bun was talking, literally did a whole episode on the mug. So speaking about that, Rory Bun, back to back. So on one of our other episodes, we were talking about how 17 tries, 17 years, not tries, 17 years every year, same time, you come and you get beat and you show up again. 17 years, and then you win one, which is like a miracle to you, and then you have the lead after two days. So remember, tournament days are month, um, sorry, Thursday and Friday. He has a six-stroke lead. People are like, people are like, oh, we don't need to watch Sunday. And then I literally did a podcast on Saturday with um this amazing doctor who has like 250,000 subscribers on our YouTube channel, um, Dr. Kim. And she was asking me about, you know, um, when you're not the whole topic of her podcast was when you're an adult and you try new sports, what are some things straight away when people try golf specifically? What are some of their fears when they try the sport? Or what how do you know that it's their first time trying? Or like, do they tell you? Or like, you know, so I was like, straight away I can tell when they come with their shoulders up and trying to swing because they're trying so hard. So the whole podcast was about that, and about then we start talking about mentally how hard is golf. And I said, it's the only sport where you can have such a big lead, and then all of a sudden, the next round, because you do you have to do four incredible rounds of golf to win, and or one exceptional round where you're just blowing everyone out. So everyone said Rory two a two Thursday, Friday crushed it, six leads, and then on Saturday, he ties, he ties, he ties, and whatever, what did he do?
unknownHe ties.
SPEAKER_02Oh, he ties got it.
SPEAKER_01Didn't he do something similar last year? Like, didn't he take everyone on a freaking ride last year or two? Like, isn't this what he does?
SPEAKER_00He did it on the worst day ever, but he tied, so everyone's like, okay, this just got insane. We have a we have co-leaders, like what? And then, of course, all the pressure Sunday. So it just makes obviously makes Masters Sunday the most exciting thing to ever watch. Because do you really want to watch somebody with like a six-stroke league on a Sunday? Maybe a bit boring, but again, it's golf, and you just never know. And the roller coaster, this guy takes us on every year without fail. He takes himself on this roller coaster and then drags millions of us on it. I gotta do that to my guy, whatever. He did whatever was necessary. Fine. The roller coaster for the rest of us watching is so intense every year, and I'm so thankful he did it. And I even shed a couple of tears for him. Oh my god, yeah. It was just too emotional at the end. What about you? Because you watched the ending.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, what I've realized is I have subconsciously dressed like one of the master's gnomes. Are they not in with the green hat?
SPEAKER_02She said literally from the beginning. I don't think you heard it. She's like, Are you? I said, Are you one of Rory's caddies?
SPEAKER_01I literally was just like, I didn't hear it, but I I literally am like, I think I look like one of the caddies.
SPEAKER_02Like I sound like, okay, Grant, yes.
SPEAKER_00Like, wait. It's so funny. He would obviously love to be a caddy, but want to do none of the work, didn't want to lift a bag, doesn't want to do shit, just wants to look cute on the golf course. I already know him.
SPEAKER_02You got the master's green check, cream, clean, check. Like it's just like, okay, you knew what you were doing.
SPEAKER_01Can you blame me?
SPEAKER_02You knew it. But great color for your complexion. You look great.
SPEAKER_01Thank you so much.
SPEAKER_00But I just want to ask you, you watched the last like putt or the last hole on 18, the last two things. What were your thoughts? Like, what were you thinking when it was all going down?
SPEAKER_01I was really hoping that putt was gonna get close or in because it was it it felt like it was back down to the wire. I just can't imagine the stress he was feeling. And I think it's incredible that he did pull through and it wasn't like it was down to the wire, but you know, like when he hit that putt and it was right there. I think I basically said it was this far away. And I said, Shy, what if he missed that? And she's like, No, you can tell he's not, but I'm like, anything's possible, right? And you said there was another tournament, it was the open or something where he US Open, another major, and he missed it like that, girl.
SPEAKER_00No, it wasn't like this was like this pot. It's like literally tap goes in. The other one was like, where's the screen? It was like this, and of course, that you also don't miss, but what happened? It just like hit the corner and lived out. And that's when Bryson DeShambo won that. And so that rivalry we need in golf was golf is like not really mainstreaming, but you need a little bit of spice, right? You need you need spice, you need some comfort, you need spice, and that brought spice back to the game, and then Bryson DeChambo, can we just make a note? Did not make the cut. And what does that mean? Do you remember what that means when you don't make the cut?
SPEAKER_01He's not part of the top 50.
SPEAKER_00He's not good job, Bun. He's not part of learning. Oh my god. He's not part of the top 50. Some tournaments are they it's more than 50, but what that means is you don't make the weekend round. So Thursday and Friday are your two days, and the top, let's just say 50 players, um, they include ties of the master. So if you're tied for 50th, so it might be like 57 players because a bunch of them might be tied. Um, they get to make the weekend round. Now remember, you only make money if you make the weekend. Saturday, Sunday. So the Monday, Thursday is like free. So you interesting. You've essentially gotten it on a Monday. You've done a practice around Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday is usually like a pro am with sponsors and stuff. And then, um, except for the masters, and then Thursday, the tournament starts. So let's say Monday to Friday, you do not make the cut that's out of your pocket. You are making zero dollars.
SPEAKER_02You're making zero dollars. So, what's the minimum if you make the weekend? Like for the masters. I'm so happy you've asked. Oh my god, not her being prepped with notes. A genuine question. I have no idea. Because you're gonna I don't know. We are gonna share the screen, aren't we?
SPEAKER_03Um quick question is Quick question is Kristen.
SPEAKER_01I don't know if you know, but if you've won the masters previously, you automatically get invited to come play every year.
SPEAKER_02Like to come no matter what. Not just like the next year, it's like for life. Correct.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I didn't know that. But they still have to qualify and make the cut, right?
SPEAKER_02Ah, okay. Correct. So you have to make the weekend.
SPEAKER_00Yes, you get to play Thursday, Friday regardless.
SPEAKER_02Uh-huh. Okay, okay, okay.
SPEAKER_00You guys, I did have it saved, but classic. Is it jacking too tight? What is that? Why isn't it showing up?
SPEAKER_01Where did you have it saved? What was saved?
SPEAKER_00Walk into it.
SPEAKER_01Right there. There's like a little graph. Is that what you're talking about?
SPEAKER_00Where's no, not this guy.
SPEAKER_01I was like, is our folder just filled with stuff?
SPEAKER_00Weird reason. It doesn't save. Well, I've actually saved it. Oh, that's it. But it doesn't save and show up here, but it'll like show up like elsewhere. Here we go. 4.5 million. I hope there's a second slide. Bam! Can you guys see that? See that? Hold on one second.
SPEAKER_01It's hard to see, so you might have to tell us.
SPEAKER_00Wait, I know now how to do that, and I think it's like that. Prize money payouts. And I think it's like, wow! I heard knowing what to do. Okay. So once I do that, and then I go here. Okay, prize money payouts. 4.5 million gets. The winner gets 4.5 and it drops. And then it drops to 2.4. Scotty Scheffler, the fact that he came back is also insane content for me. So the last person, the 54th person, gets 50k.
SPEAKER_02Listen, that's more than he had before. That's fine.
SPEAKER_00Correct. So it's not horrible. Um, but of course, for them, they're they don't even care about this. Is considered like for golfers charity money. Speaking about charity money, you see what this transition's going on?
SPEAKER_02This is like a scary transition. Okay, yeah. I'm picking up what you're putting down. Tell me.
SPEAKER_00I need to stop the screen. Or I need to swap us.
SPEAKER_02I mean, there's questions about the screen, but we can you wanna you okay?
SPEAKER_00First tell me, and then I'll talk about the charity money. What do you want?
SPEAKER_02Well, like, so what does it mean the blank spaces? So that that one point oh eight is for all the players under? Yes.
SPEAKER_00All tied. Got it. Oh, it ties up. They've tied for a third. Okay, everybody. This doesn't want to zoom in. Yeah. It's so they all tied for third. So poor Justin Rose for like the last, I don't even know, three or four masters. He he actually went into the playoffs last year with Rory and he lost on that last hole in the playoff round. So Justin Rose is in his 40s. He's one of like the older golfers, and everyone just wants Rosie to get one. Like it's just one of those things. So I hope the next one. I I like that Rory's one two back to back. He gets to be in the category of one of the best European golfers around, one of the best golfers, if you want to say, around. Um, and so now I'm like happy for like an underdog to get like Tommy Fleetwood, Shane Lowry, Justin Rose. It's just a good person. I'm like happy. I just named all like European golfers. I'm happy to I'm happy for one of them who've just worked really hard to get one that would make a good underdog. I would be very happy with that.
SPEAKER_01Um also oh I was gonna say Robert is also one of he's the fourth person ever to do back to back tiger, Jack, and one other one other player I can't remember his name.
SPEAKER_02I believe in you, you know it, Sir Nick. Oh dang.
SPEAKER_01Follow.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, why did we know that?
SPEAKER_00Because I we heard it like seven times, and they're just like repeating it. But Bun, I'm so proud of you. He is the fourth player ever to do that.
SPEAKER_02That's really wild. Well done, you okay.
SPEAKER_00So when you say charity, like they treated because everybody just wants to play on this course because it's that but I wanted you to talk about what did you read about charity and how how did he practice? Oh my gosh. So this is the thing, okay?
SPEAKER_02I need to zoom in on her. One second. This is a hot this is a hot take for a lot of people, but I think my guy deserves it, okay? Okay, go. So me on my daily scroll. On I think it was like Twitter. Okay, Twitter. Yeah. I think it was on Twitter. But they basically had this graphic of just like what a luxury it is for Rory to play and then get on his private jet, fly home, sleep in his own bed, and then come back the next day to like play another round.
SPEAKER_00My brother doesn't understand like where you're what the con what the the backstory is. Essentially, when you win the masters, what happens is you are a lifelong Augusta national member. So you get to play the golf course whenever you want. You don't have to, I don't know if you have to pay or not pay, but you always have access to this private golf course. So what Rory did was he didn't play the last two tournaments before the masters. He he said he doesn't want to play them. And what he ended up doing was taking his private jet, essentially what seems like every day or maybe five days a week from Florida. I think he lives like in Jupiter, flew into Augusta, played the course. So he said he would take his daughter Poppy to school, drop her off, fly, play the course in Augusta, which is Georgia, which is not that far, but still it's like probably like an hour. Right, right. And then would fly back for dinner to make sure he had dinner with his daughter, put her to bed. And so he did that I guess the past three weeks before the masters, just to get a few reps in and rounds. And hold on, you went mute. You went mute. What's up with your voice?
SPEAKER_01I'm not I shouldn't be mute, but you tell me.
SPEAKER_00You're back.
SPEAKER_01I was just saying, so he's had a leg up. What? He's had a leg up. He's like fully he's had way more of an advantage to play the course over and over and over before every like Are you screaming a little bit?
SPEAKER_00Because how I get we're screaming, we're passionate. What was your so I want to give you the backstory? Now hit your points.
SPEAKER_02I mean, my hot take is that like he worked really hard to be able to have that luxury, right? Like he worked his ass, he went that long, right? Without 17. 17 years without winning. So like now that he has it, why not take advantage of it? So like while I hear people saying it's a leg up, like, okay, you need to do better so you can have the leg up. Like it's not a leg up that's given out to everybody. Like he worked his ass off to get to that point to be able to fly his private jet, to go up there, play his rounds, and come back. Like, so if he has an advantage in going into this tournament, then like good for him. He set himself up nicely. So, like, it was I I read the comments and I was just like, okay, point. Oh, okay, another point. Like, oh yeah, the comment. Like, I like I understood both sides, but I am also like advocating for the fact that like comments are always like my guy like worked his butt off his family, his sacrifices, like all of those things to be able to do this. So be able to put himself in a position where he can be like, you know what? I feel like practicing today. Fuel up the jet, let's go, right? And then he goes and he does it. Like, so yes, it's a leg up, but I feel like it's one that he like fought hard for and is deserved.
SPEAKER_01Um, leg up for sure. I was just going to say, I wonder if he didn't have the leg up, how he would have done. That's fair.
SPEAKER_00And we will never know. And he'll do it again, and I think people will follow that lead. I think he's just put a new standard and a new way of what people will start doing towards majors because A, you make tons more money, you get more FedEx points, which remember is a tally at the end of the year, the top, however many, 10, 8, 15, I don't know, get to play for more money, and you get ranking points based off of that. For if you're the number one player, the number two player in the world, XYZ. He's still the number two player. He might have now, I don't know if he gets bumped up to one because Scotty Scheffler came in second, so they're gonna be really close for points.
SPEAKER_01Speaking about one and two in the tennis world, a transition, another transition.
SPEAKER_02Oh no. Well, I was just gonna say, what would you do in that situation, Mike?
SPEAKER_01I hadn't even thought that that was a a thing, but if I if I had the luxury of doing it, I probably would have done it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you see?
SPEAKER_00Is it cheating? If other players think it's cheating, is it cheating?
SPEAKER_01It's not cheating because it the rules are he's allowed to go and play and it's it's he's won it, so he can go and and golf there. Uh how is that cheating?
SPEAKER_02So let me ask you, would you limit the times of of like how often people can go and play the course? Like in in the spirit of sort of like a level playing field, right?
SPEAKER_01Sure, sure.
SPEAKER_02In the future.
SPEAKER_01Maybe, maybe there needs to be some form of like, you know, just like trying to. I mean, he's smart that he took advantage and and did it, but I I do think that it would be, yeah, in terms of like talent, skill, a bit of luck, whatever it is for that athlete that day. I think it would be a bit fairer if it was if it felt a bit more even across the board.
SPEAKER_02That's fair. I just like wonder if like other people are taking advantage of that too. There are plenty of other pasts, like not plenty. Yeah, they're just that have that opportunity and they're not taking advantage of it. So do they not care enough? Like, do people question them and their commitment? I mean, I can go on and on about this. I think see both sides.
SPEAKER_00You know what will be fun? It'll be fun to see if he's now created a standard for all the other majors for people to do that, for them to all fly in early or hop in his jet and go and play practice rounds. Does that affect the tournaments leading up to the majors? Because now maybe the main key names will be out of it. So it'll be it'll be fun to see all of that kind of play out because the one thing about Rory's he's like super vocal about what he does, maybe like too transparent, but I think that I'm gonna zoom back in. I think what makes him different to Tiger is many things because people always want to compare him to him. But one of the things was you never really got to understand because Tiger never lets you in. So as a fan, you he always gave you that mystery of like, but how is he practicing? Like, what is he doing? Like, what does his treat? All of that, what does it look like? We want to know as fans, the BTS of it. Tiger never lets you in. He still doesn't let you in. He's very guarded, very, and also very stoked. Like when he used to walk down any of the golf courses, he didn't high-fi fans. Rory feels everything. You can see in his face, he's emotional. People are happy for him. And I feel like he's super relatable, which almost, in my opinion, gives him an maybe an edge over Tiger because you really feel some people love Rory, some hate him because earlier he's like he cries too much or he complains too much, or he yeah, or he can never, he'll never, I was always like he'll never make it, he'll never win the masters, he doesn't have the mental capacity, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And now he kind of just showed the middle finger and said, I just did it twice. So you doubted me, I doubted myself a little bit, but then I had to believe, and I am that elite of a player to kick it up a notch to do it. And so I just want to talk about two extremely elite players. And there we are.
SPEAKER_01Look at them.
SPEAKER_00Look at them. If you are if you are not uh watching and if you're listening to the podcast, I've just displayed Carlos Alcaraz and Yannick Sinners' photo when they're just bromancing each other after the Monica, the Rolex Monte Carlo uh tennis tournament that just took place also over the weekend. What was really, really nice was that time zone differences helped us watch both. That out there.
SPEAKER_02So, like, what's the thing about this? Like, to me, I want I love it, like a rivalry. You know what I mean? Like, I want, I want like it's a hate is a very strong word, but like you want Novak Roger, I want some headbutting, I want one to talk shit about the other. Like, I love Kumbaya, like stop giving each other a hug, man. Like, get out of my face. You just lost. Like, but I think I don't know.
SPEAKER_00But don't you think on the court they want to literally beat each other up, but then they're just like yeah, on the court, but like what is the other yeah, they they're bromance towards the end.
SPEAKER_02It's nice, like I get it, but like I maybe I'm too old school in this sense. We're old school, we're just old school sports. Like, what did Michael Jordan say? Like, yeah, and that pissed me off.
SPEAKER_00And like, so then he like went on this like rampage of and scoring all these like I I there's there's the fire under the belly that kind of shows off like great job, man, but I'm done and I'm gonna like not keep like But if this is our one and our two, right?
SPEAKER_02Like I want more of a rivalry, like you know Okay, who else in tennis gives you more of a spark, do you think?
SPEAKER_00I mean if Noak was in this picture, would that kind of create more attention?
SPEAKER_02Right, like he's just always like talking smack, but he's like just also not a nice person, it seems like he like doesn't treat the ball girls. Oh really? Damn, some intel right now. No, I've heard I've heard some things.
SPEAKER_01Wow, the goss, the hot tea. We didn't we didn't see that coming. Someone called it, someone called it the Monty Carlos, and unfortunately that did not transpire for him. I thought that was like good, but like too bad. So, Shy, I actually watched the match. You recorded it. Uh, I love when we had Ashley on. She was like P VR, like record. I'm like, mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00Oh, it's called P VR. Yeah, you like record like the TV in the box.
SPEAKER_02You guys have boxed it was like T mode.
SPEAKER_00Guys, we still have a box in Canada because we don't get Hulu. What was it? Who did you work for with the previously that has it? Oh, Peacock? Peacock. We don't get stuff there, so we have PVR.
SPEAKER_01So we rec my parents recorded. I watched the match. The match many times looks like it's going for Carlos.
SPEAKER_02Right, always. So it was close. It was like if okay.
SPEAKER_01The first set was tie break, so it was close. They were both playing incredible, and like each would just miss the line many times. Carlos lost the first set in a tie break. It was his turn to serve, and he lost to a double fault. Like it was just like shit, this sucks. The second set, he's up 3-1. Then he's tied 3-3. I think he ends up losing 6-3 or 6-4. Like he ends up, like Yannick they go into deuces, advantage deuce. Like it's pretty, it's a great match. I wouldn't say Carlos didn't show up. I just think Yannick just got a few more of the the shots.
SPEAKER_00He's been mentally probably there. Do you think Carlos is a little bit mentally not there?
SPEAKER_01I think Carlos is there, but I can kind of tell that maybe he's stressed out a little bit. He's got like a little patch in his beard that I noticed that I've had from stress called alopecia.
SPEAKER_02Yes. Oh, that's a thing. Yeah. Oh my gosh, now I know.
SPEAKER_00Who do you think has a stress batch that I currently have on my screen with a 6,000 pound euro fine? 7,000.
SPEAKER_01Daniel Medvedev.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god, his whole face is a patch. I don't understand.
SPEAKER_00His whole face is a patch. This is too much. Okay, cool. He was fine. 6,000 euro or 5,200 pounds or 7,000 American dollars.
SPEAKER_01Or 10,000 Canadian dollars, if you were to convert.
SPEAKER_02Um you gotta convert to all the currencies.
SPEAKER_01He looks, it was the first time he had a haircut. Like, so he had actually like cut his hair, which was cute, and it was crazy because he looks like a 45-year-old man, but he's 26, I'm pretty sure.
SPEAKER_02No way, he's not 26. But Google it real quick.
SPEAKER_01He is he is he is literally like in his 20s. He looks like yeah, anyway. Um, and so yeah, he just I guess loses it. Med age.
SPEAKER_00Oh, it just sorry, but I do love that all the F1 drivers showed up to all of the things in Monaco. So that was kind of fun to have like a little collab. Oh, have a little like F1 collab with the drivers and the tennis. That was kind of fun because you remember they didn't have a race because of the very sad war that is currently going on. Okay, I was gonna ask, like, why didn't they? Two races, yeah. They were both in the Middle East and both the races didn't happen. But what how much is it, Bun?
SPEAKER_01My apologies, he is 30 years old.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's not so he's not young, young. I mean, still that's a rough 30. Yeah, sorry. I just want to have a few key things that I have starred here because a few of them are insane. Number one, everybody wanted to know what pants Tommy Fleetwood was wearing. I actually own two pairs of these Lululemon pants, and they are absolutely comfortable. They're pleated, they look professional, but they're sweatwicking. Not me promoting them, but they're actually really good. So day drifted. Okay, so here's my thing. I know you didn't know this bun, so I want to bring it to everyone's attention. Tommy Fleetwood um no longer they didn't he didn't renew his Nike contract, or maybe they didn't renew it. So he's currently has no contract with anyone. He's like a stuff curry. Yes, great one. Oh, yeah. Because he is not, it's been so fun to see what brands sent him, and he wears different brands all the time. But for the full masters, he wore the Lulu pants and everyone was obsessed. So obviously, Scratch was like, for all of you people that want to know, it's these pants from Lululemon. On Sunday, no one's they were trying to figure it out, but no one's ever done this. He actually wore a master's t-shirt, you know, one with the logo? Like a logo. Yeah, like a polo from the masters, like a like a regular. I am obsessed with Tommy Fleawood's behavior, and I hope he wins a major. And then I wanted to bring to everyone's attention this insane person who I don't really watch watch bicycling, but he literally punched another bicyclist in the head. Bam! Hits in the head. So this is a 24-year-old punching Dutch cyclist mass um in the head during um essentially a race in the Netherlands on March 7th, and the cycling union has given him a suspension until May 2nd. I just need to know the deep down story. Like, what did he do for you to punch this man in his head? If anybody knows, hit us up in the comments. I need to know it.
SPEAKER_01That is not a punch. That is what we call a bitch slap. Okay, he bitch slapped him. Take a closer look.
SPEAKER_02I mean, cycling terms, that's what that was. Maybe that is what that was. Like the danger and what he was doing. Yes, too much for bitching falls over.
SPEAKER_01That's like Coach Shy, super quick. We have someone in the YouTube um section being like, uh, hello, can you guys see this? HM11 M40. We see you, we're doing well. They're like, How are you guys doing today? And we're just so busy rambling on. They're like, Can you guys see this? Hello, we see you. We see you.
SPEAKER_00I just said hi. Did it go through? Uh M11, what are your thoughts? Yes. Rory, the master's mug, Fleetwood's Lululemon pants, that cyclist smacking somebody else in the head. What's up with that?
SPEAKER_01Carlos Melinda Gates, are you just watching the pod because you know what's going on? Are you Melinda herself? What is happening? Okay, we gotta power through because there's good stuff to talk about, and we don't have that much time. Coach, what's going on with Bieber?
SPEAKER_00Listen, I have five more minutes, but I just want to also mention if you are a US soccer fan, which obviously we cannot indirectly be because we're Canadian, but like what so we want to clear the air, which I've heard uh my friend Kristen kind of say a little bit. Oh my god. FIFA, FIFA, the difference between US soccer, Canada soccer, and FIFA. I need to explain this in super layman's terms to whoever's listening to the layman.
SPEAKER_01Who is layman?
SPEAKER_00He is he's great, a great gentleman, so now listen to me. He's got terms, he's got terms, and I will explain those terms. Okay, the difference between FIFA and US soccer. FIFA okay, US soccer is the governing body of soccer in the United States.
SPEAKER_02I'll do even better. I got this. Go. FIFA is the head of the umbrella, okay? The umbrella that oversees all of soccer in this world, okay? In the world. Under that are your confederations, right? Which is your UEFA, your CONCACAF, your Canaba Ball, right? They cover regions. I never can say Cannibal Ball, whatever. They cover regional areas of the world. Within those regions, you have the country federation, right? The countries. So within CONCACAF, you have Canada, you have the US, you have Mexico, right? And then UEFA, you have your England, you have your Netherlands, you have Germany, right? So that is the structure that we participate in. My my thing that has been like really grinding my gears and like really just like making my eye twitch a little bit is that the people out in the world think that US soccer, that the Canadian Federation have something to do with the ticket prices of this upcoming World Cup. We ain't got nothing to do with it. That's all FIFA. US soccer has no way of determining what ticket prices are. FIFA is deciding that on their own. Do I wish they were a little bit cheaper and more affordable for the general population? Yes, I would love nothing more to have a jam-packed stadium filled with people that are experiencing this for the first time. But I think where people's frustrations lie is they're like, man, US soccer's not doing anything. They should say something, they should say something, they should do something, and it's just like, whoa, whoa, whoa, hey, like, trust me, we've said something, but ultimately it is FIFA's decision. So, like, we are just hosts of this tournament. They run this tournament all the time, everywhere. So, it's an interesting dynamic in explaining it to people because it's just like these are two completely separate.
SPEAKER_00If someone doesn't follow soccer, another like comparison would be World uh not World Cup, Super Bowl. The NFL runs a Super Bowl when they go into the stadium of whatever home team, the NFL that's the NFL's whole stadium. The league office, yes. Yes. So it's no longer becomes Seattle gets to tell the NFL how much the Super Bowl ticket pricing is. Similar to the NB. If you're a big basketball person, whenever we have NBA All-Star, the N or NBA finals, the NBA takes it over, and then it's their tournament. And then it's profit share, but they tell they tell you as the home team who's gonna get what allocation. Exact same in European football. Whenever we played the FA Cup, it would be at Wembley Stadium, and it was, let's say, um, well, it was Arsenal, and let's say one of the years it was like um I can't remember, let's just name Tottenham. It wasn't Tottenham, but let's just say so. We FA Cup, the FA told Arsenal how many seats they would get, told Tottenham fans how many seats they would get, and the rest they had and controlled. So that's just wanted to clear the air for that. As I'm clearing all kinds of air, let's just hit you with the Canadian that is running all things, Coachella Bunt. I will let you take the lead on this one.
SPEAKER_01Well, no, it's just Burchella. Uh, a fun fact, they had Siza lined up as a backup and we're paying her six figures just to in case she needed to step in and in case he didn't show up, because they've had this mishap with another artist uh where they came for the first day, but then they did not show for the second day. I can't remember who it was. Um and so they had he basically got on YouTube and pulled up his old YouTube videos, sang along with that. I don't have facts for sure, but people are saying because he doesn't own his music, that was a way of getting around it. Sabrina Carpenter.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. That's interesting. Okay, I like this theory.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and then he and and and and there was a lot of like kind of like laying down on the floor on with his back on there, and he was just kind of like singing initially, and then he's on YouTube. Sabrina Carpenter, again, I don't know if she actually said this, her set was very elaborate. It was full theater. She had ins spent insane amounts of money, so many different things. Was it looked incredible? And I think she said, like, if you, if as a woman, if I did what he did, I would get crucified. Like the expectations just different, you know? And so I thought that was interesting as well. Carol G was there. There will be around two weekends. So it happens two weekends in a row. It'll be next weekend as well. So you kind of get to see the same thing. The activations seem to really be popping up on my on my um on my feed, Revolve 818 Road, which are like all you know brands that a lot of the the girlies know. Some of the other things have popped up chicken nuggets with caviar,$100.
SPEAKER_03Coachella?
SPEAKER_01Coachella, yes. A coffee,$17. Like just the prices are pretty ludicrous. So it feels like you need to be a cajillionaire to attend or like have hookups. Um, but yeah, it's just, you know, I've never been. Sure, I guess I'd like to go check it out, but it just seems like so expensive and such a production.
SPEAKER_00For I've never been inclined to things like this when they are just ripping you off, and there's like so many people outside. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I'm just like, this is not for me. This is the thing, Coachella used to be amazing, right? So like I went in 2015. You went, and it was it was one of those things where like my friends were like, ooh, like, should we do it? I don't know. I spent$300 for a three-day ticket. Absolutely. This was in 2015. Three day tickets,$300. Yeah, that's really good. So like we stayed in an RV park, like it we did, we we did it the way it was supposed to be done. And sorry, what year was this? 2015. 2015. So Torrent of the Machine, like this this was a good, this was a good year. So I say all that to say I'm just like this was also pre-influencers, and everybody always talks shit, which I feel like most of the time is deserved, right? Like they've just like sort of ruined the right, like appeal of it. Like the whole point is that like you're in a desert just vibing with like good music. The whole world doesn't need to see it, you're just going off of like the people and the music that are there. Like, granted, they they went crazy one year, right? Like they had like a Tupac hologram, right? Like, but like, but you you want it to be there. And somebody brought this up on again my daily scroll of just like how Coachella has now catered to the people that are watching as opposed to the people that are there now. So like they're more concerned with the stream numbers and making sure they have the right camera setups instead of making sure that the people that are actually there that spent the money to create these crowds to make it look good, right? Have a good experience, right? Like, there's another video of some kid, like as soon as the gates open. I mean beeline, beeline towards the main stage, like dodging stuff, and it's just like drop shoulder, okay. No, like really, like, but all of that, like running, like he said, he's been training for months for this moment, and then for like the performance to just be like meh, like that stinks, right? Like, people have invested a lot, money, time, money, and time into outfits, right? Where me, I can just pop up on the stream and just watch it and be okay with it. Like, that's what I think has taken a lot away from it. It's the fact that like streaming is being prioritized instead of the live music experience, and just like it's just reached the level of like nobody can afford to go to these things at all. Why am I even gonna consider it? It stinks, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And from a brand marketing perspective, there's just all the brands are there for the aesthetic and the optics, and it seems like there's more content creators than ever, just so digitally it's showing up everywhere for us at home, possibly to be like maybe Is it because they want us to have FOMO? Yes, so that we possibly spend like 5,000 next year for the ticket to you know what I mean to go. I think it's the it's to create news, zero FOMO.
SPEAKER_02Well, like you're a dream, and then another hot take. When did cowboy boots become the look of coach? I was gonna do it. It drives me insane. The shorts and cowboy boots. Can you imagine the foot smell after they take those things off? I'm sorry, clear out the desert because girl, like what are those being?
SPEAKER_00But wait, don't they have the country one after? What is it called? Stage. Yeah, isn't that where they should wear cowboy boots?
SPEAKER_02Yes, nobody should be wearing cowboy boots with shorts, I think, ever. But like, yes, that is more appropriate. I just like who defined what Coachella's style is? It's like you know, I want to show you. It's so weird right now. I'm like, who decided that that was a cool one?
SPEAKER_00I want to show you guys someone that has true style. We're gonna I wish. Oh I'm gonna show you, we're gonna end with this one because I just thought. Is it really his mom? Yes.
SPEAKER_02Sorry, did I just like grow this word?
SPEAKER_00No, I just want it to be the main screen, but honestly, these small screens in my eyes. One second, everyone, please. So this is Rory's mom. I died. She's great. And she's like the cutest. And if you haven't seen the docu series on Prime, I highly suggest you see it. I think it's so great. It's made me like really enjoy him and like him a lot more. She just casually brought a purse that I don't know whoever made, but needs to make tons more. And it has his newspaper article from when he won last year. Isn't that the cutest thing you've just like ever seen? Like your mom is just sitting there with your news, and it's her purse. And I think it's genius, and I love every second of it. It's such a subtle, like, yeah, as a flex. Yeah, my son just won the major fine last year.
SPEAKER_02I'm proud. I won't, I don't need to be too loud about it, but I'll show you.
SPEAKER_00And I'll leave you with um just like you know, if you're gonna watch it, sorry, but she essentially they were trying to figure out how did they how can they afford it and keep him going. Spoiler alert. Yeah, sorry. So she essentially said that she'll take night shifts and the dad will take like day shifts for work, and that's how they'll afford for him, and he's an only child for for that for him to like, which is why he always says, Mom and dad, like, if it weren't for you, I could have never done any of this. Like, truly, right? They sacrificed so much for him to be able to do this. And yeah, he just seems sweet, and Poppy seems so sweet, the daughter with her little feet crossed, and he was like, Yeah. And she then he said something like, I think this is Poppy's favorite tournament, and you could just see her being very shy and cute, and then him saying, I think she loves it because of all the the unlimited ice cream in the clubhouse, and then she goes, She's just adorable, adorable. Unfortunately, we do have to leave, and it is um 6:52, but thank you so much, all of you.
SPEAKER_02She's like clearly back to catty, you know, camp and sleepless in Seattle.
SPEAKER_01She's gotta go. Do you have a seven o'clock dinner? What's going on?
SPEAKER_00We have seven o'clock dinner, we're gonna be late for. And I just want to tell everyone thank you so much. Let us know if you enjoyed. Well, this is our first run that we're gonna do once a week. Next week, you're gonna see me in another country. Surprise, you'll see me. And the following week you'll see me somewhere else as well. So I'm on the road the next few Mondays. We're going to try this out. 6 p.m. Eastern, sorry, 6 p.m. Pacific, 9 p.m. Eastern. Mondays is when we'll go live on YouTube and Instagram. If you've stuck around all the way to the end of this podcast, thank you. I didn't do this in my first one. Thank you. And she did so well. She was a bit nervous. I was like, a natural and a half knows all the things. Um, thank you so much. Make sure you click the like and subscribe. Absolutely. But if you want to put things in the comments, we would love to read whatever your thoughts are on all the things that we've spoken about. And also tell us who you're gonna be cheering for for the World Cup. I'll end with Go Canada and Go USA.
SPEAKER_02There it is. Bon, so great seeing you. You too.
SPEAKER_01Thanks for thanks for being on with us. Ciao.
SPEAKER_02I'll bring my mug the next time. The Master's mug. Bye guys.
