Welcome to Let Me Catch You Up, the podcast where I explain reality TV to my husband.
SPEAKER_01And I ask a lot of questions.
SPEAKER_00I'm Liz, a longtime Bravo watcher who's been following Summer House for years.
SPEAKER_01And I'm Pat, a casual observer who's been in the room, sometimes paying attention.
SPEAKER_00Each week, we're recapping the latest episode of Summerhouse, breaking down the drama, the relationships, and everything you might have missed. Whether you've watched every episode or you're just trying to keep up. We're here to catch you up. Let's get into it. Alright. We are back to chat about Summer House Season 10, Episode 6. The jokes on you. Any uh quick thoughts before we dive in?
SPEAKER_01Uh I thought this was a good episode. It was not as like wild and rambunctious as you know, like the party episodes or whatever, but there was a lot of good substance, not crazy drama, but it was a good episode, I think.
SPEAKER_00I agree. I think it was a good mix. There was drama, but none of it was too serious. There were some funny moments and fun stuff, and then some other relationship development stuff.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Before we get too far into those details, quick social media update from the week. I think this might have even been right before we recorded last week. But Amanda did a Marie Claire feature and photo shoot. So that had an interview and a bunch of pictures, and she looked great in the pictures, and he talks about how she's never been happier. So it seems like she's doing well post-the Kyle breakup. We learned that she moved out in November. So they were definitely still together during this season. They decided to separate. Then they weren't necessarily decided they were going to divorce, but they needed some space. And then that space made them both realize that they needed to break up. So they came to that decision a few days before they posted about it publicly in January. And she was very clear that she doesn't want Kyle to be villainized. They still love each other. So that's good to see. Couple Jesse updates. He posted a little teaser for a song that he's releasing and had this music video of him walking down the street, like with his goofy smile on his face. I don't want to be mean. So I closed my eyes and listened to the song. And I was like, okay, the song's fine.
SPEAKER_01So may maybe like somebody who doesn't watch the show, maybe they could be like, oh, this is actually like a good song or it's catchy or whatever. But like I don't think you can be like a viewer of the show and take that song seriously. It's it's hard. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Like I said, I don't want to be mean. I think the song is fine.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, exactly. It's not bad. It's just it's it's Jesse.
SPEAKER_00My stomach was like in knots watching it because I was cringing so much from the video. And then there was a really funny video going around of two influencers who like spoofed Jesse, his like routine in the morning being all over Sierra. It was Taylor Grayson and James Mitchell Neal, who I don't know, but want to give them a shout-out. It was so good that Paige commented on it and Jesse even said like he couldn't be mad because it was pretty accurate. But the most notable thing, which was all over my algorithm towards the second half of this week, there was reports from Dumois, which is a it's like an anonymous account that posts like celebrity gossip and sightings and things that people kind of write in to them about on Instagram. And they posted that Quest and Amanda were spotted making out around the city. So I did not send that to you because I wanted to talk about it live. I don't believe that for one second.
SPEAKER_01No, yeah, I don't I don't buy that.
SPEAKER_00And then I saw someone else breaking it down and being like, oh, she was probably making out with this friend of his that looks like him. Like 100% do not believe that they were making out or hooking up, especially like in public.
SPEAKER_01Right, right, yeah. No, I mean crazier things have happened in reality TV, but that doesn't feel right to me.
SPEAKER_00No, especially since she's still friends with Kyle. It's so recent. I don't think she would do that. Or I don't think she would also do that to Sierra, because who knows where Wes and Sierra stand. Then Amanda was also on an episode of this podcast called Trading Secrets that I listen to every once in a while. It's hosted by Jason Tartik, who was on The Bachelor. And the the episode was recorded at the end of January, so it was from a while ago. But she even said like she's definitely not interested in dating any castmates. So I think that kind of confirms. Um, the other interesting thing from that podcast, they were talking a little bit about like, did she ever get a prenup? Because in prior seasons it was a big storyline before they got married. I think Kyle chatting about a prenup. Amanda wasn't sure, and they never ended up signing one. And I think Amanda later said, Oh, I messed up in that situation. So I was worried because of all the debt that Loverboy has. I was like, she then gets saddled with half of that debt. Um, she didn't specifically talk about that, but she said they have had separate finances the whole time they've been married. So for her, she thinks it's a pretty easy what's mine is mine and what's yours is yours. We go our separate ways. So hopefully that's how it works out for them.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's tough. Yeah, that was a big debt to take on. So yeah, that's messy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Uh but yeah, I think takeaway is there was a lot of drama on the internet that they're probably just like happy people are talking about summer house.
SPEAKER_01So any publicity is good publicity.
SPEAKER_00Yes. All right, so let's dive in. So the episode picks up on Friday, July 25th at 7.16 p.m. So it picks up towards the end of Jesse and Sierra chatting about the conversation around was Jesse saying that making out with her would be a joke, etc., etc. Which I feel like feels so long ago now, having just watched this episode.
SPEAKER_01But I thought they finished that conversation and they were like still having it. So I was like, oh, I guess we're still in this.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But they seem to end well. They hug, say they love each other. So that's good. It seems like they've kind of put that drama to rest. And Jesse goes to debrief with West. Jesse does say in his confessional, I'm attracted to Sierra, but I know she doesn't want to be casual. I feel bad that I misread the situation. I'm disappointed in myself. Yeah, that was dumb. Which is fine, but I don't think he misread the situation. I just think he completely fumbled it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I'm confused, to be honest, because I don't think he casually likes her. I think he, you know, really likes her. It's almost like his defense mechanism where he's like, oh, maybe she's not into me. So I'm gonna say it was a joke all along, and she's kind of like setting up not a trap for him necessarily, but like, is this the joke or is it real? And he's like, Yeah, sorry, I know you said that you wanted a real relationship, not a joke relationship, so my bad for misreading it. Yeah. But I I think he wanted a real relationship with her. I don't know. It it's a little bit strange to me.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like he knows that she only wants a serious relationship, so yeah, I don't think you can misread that, but maybe in his head was trying to convince himself that it could be different. But then last episode, he was also saying West would be good for her if he wanted something serious, but you know, Jesse wants something serious, so I don't understand. But anyway, moving on.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So everybody's getting ready for Amanda's birthday dinner. It's funny, the attire is like a black tie, and then it seems like the theme of the dinner is kids' food.
SPEAKER_01They didn't say it like outright, but I was like, they have a private chef or whatever cooking their meal.
SPEAKER_00Then later they show them it's mac and cheese and like potatoes.
SPEAKER_01It's mac and cheese. Yeah, it was that was a good plot twist.
SPEAKER_00And the plates were like the kids' plates with compartments, and they had the crayons on like the the tablecloth and everything, yeah. Yeah. Bailey, they show as they're getting ready, like just a quick aside that Bailey is excited that KJ and Dara are a thing. So that means she still has a chance with Ben, which she tanks that quickly this episode.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Everybody comes down for dinner, they have some martinis, and we see them drawing on the table. And then Bailey mentions Carl that she misses him. So I think they're like, okay, yeah, because he's not here this weekend, because he has to get soft bar launched, and then Ben brings up investors in uh softbar. So then Kyle goes on his like, you know, I told him I had to cut a half a million dollar check into Loverboy to cover payroll. I have to keep my own business afloat. This is not personal. And we see Mia shaking her head, like, come on. And um, but then Jesse calls him out. Yeah, but uh back in the day he invested in Loverboy, right? And Kyle's like, yeah, 15,000. And then Amanda goes, You didn't invest in softbar at all?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Amanda was surprised by that.
SPEAKER_00I mean, we just heard that their uh finances were completely separate, so right.
SPEAKER_01So I guess she's in the dark.
SPEAKER_00And Kyle's like, Well, I I shared his crowdfunding campaign. Okay, Kyle.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was funny because he basically called him out and he's like, but that's between you guys, so maybe you guys should talk. It's like it's it's not between just you guys anymore.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and Kyle's like, Well, I mean, if he wants me to cut him a check for 15k, sure. I'm like, okay, that's all he wanted. Yeah, that is what he wanted.
SPEAKER_01It's literally what he wanted. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And Jesse's kind of like, yeah, I think Carl was a little hurt. And Kyle in his confessional is like, Oh, I'm blindsided by this feedback. And Loverboy was in the worst financial place it's ever been. So Carl should understand. And I mean, I just I feel like it was kind of a cop out. And if he can afford to cut him a check for 15 grand casually, that's all Carl wanted.
SPEAKER_01I don't Kyle seems weird with money. I don't know, you know, how much money he's got in his bank account or whatever, but like there's the whole gift thing in this episode and all that. Like the bottom line is Carl invested$15,000 and now you have an opportunity. Like it should be kind of obvious, like you should return the favor, but yeah.
SPEAKER_00So then they um dive into everybody going around the table having to say something nice about Amanda because it's her birthday, so it starts off really nice, and then you know, Jesse says she's one of the funniest girls he knows. West is like, I've seen you accomplish a lot of great things since I've known you. Mia thinks she's so cool because she's so comfortable being herself, and then it's Ben's turn. And he's like, you know, I'm a big eyes and smile guy, and then Bailey immediately interrupts him, and she's like, Yeah, Ben's gonna talk about how he definitely wants to sleep with you. And everybody is like, Oh my god, what is she saying?
SPEAKER_01It's so awkward.
SPEAKER_00Mia goes, What the hell? Wes is like, What the hell, Leonte?
SPEAKER_01I don't know what I would have said.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I would have been stunned. Yeah, Bailey, like finally kind of like gets the hint and is like, oh, sorry, but she should have like backtracked and then like oh, just kidding, just kidding, sorry, sorry, that was inappropriate. Like right.
SPEAKER_01I think the onus was on her to kind of diffuse the situation and be like, oh, like I I thought it was gonna be funny in my head, but that came out wrong.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So then we get to this part where Kyle brings out Amanda's gift, and she's like, Ooh, what's it gonna be? Is that Guardian? And then they talk about how Kyle's really notorious for being a bad gift giver, and they show a couple of flashbacks. And I I don't know if you remember, but on her 30th birthday, like he didn't plan any of it, and then he also didn't get her anything. And Paige, she's like, You gotta book like a vacation, you gotta do something. So then she starts trying to like book something, and then I think Kyle's passport was expired, so they couldn't even like do the thing she was trying to book. Uh, but like I remember a different season, Amanda rented like five luxury sports cars for him and like his friends to test drive, and she's like planned these elaborate birthday things for him before, so it's definitely like a sticking point. Like, dude, just do the bare minimum. So because after the 30th mess up, then they show a flashback. Also, he gets her this ugly ass painting, which was I guess him trying to like be a good gift giver, but hopefully she liked it. I it seemed very random. But yeah, so Amanda opens her gift and it is a really nice Cartier, beautiful watch, which Amanda loves. We do find out later though that she specifically told him to get it. So that's good. Like he followed directions.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, like even though she said exactly like what to get, I think she was still very doubtful that he would get it. So she seemed genuinely surprised that like she was like, Oh, I asked for something and he actually got it from me. Like he spent money on me. This is amazing.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, because she does say, like, oh, he's weird about like he doesn't like to spend money on gifts, I guess. I feel like I do similar things where like here are the things that I want.
SPEAKER_01Strong hints, yeah. Right.
SPEAKER_00Like a little bit of a surprise, but I gotta get the specific thing that I want. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01If there's something you want, I think you gotta make it known.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So the dinner wraps up, and then they're like, Okay, it's time to dance in Club Send It. We see it's 9 39 p.m. I love how the times they show us are always it's never like an even numbered.
SPEAKER_01But they make it up. It's probably like nine o'clock, and they're like, just call it 9 04.
SPEAKER_00Um, all the boys collect in Club Send It, and Ben is all shaken. And Wes and Cater are like, dude, that was so crazy. And Ben's like, that was the weirdest fucking circle of saying something nice about someone I've ever been involved with in my life.
SPEAKER_01How many circles of saying nice nice things about people have you been involved with?
SPEAKER_00That was my immediate thought. You got a lot of those situations.
SPEAKER_01Out of all of them, though, that was the weirdest one. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Uh Amanda also is chatting with Sierra and Levi about I think Bailey's in love with Ben. And Levi's like, yeah, she gets really nervous. And Jesse's like, Ben, why were you so perturbed? And then we learn last weekend at the Renaissance fair party, Bailey said something really similar. It was her, Ben, Amanda, and Kyle chatting. And Bailey's like, Ben is hitting on you. That's the problem. Ben loves you. And so he's already kind of like, What the hell is going on? And so he's like, Yeah, people were talking over me, saying that I want to fuck my mate's missus. And then they lost. I thought it was so funny that he put it in those words.
SPEAKER_01Like, I can't believe you talk like that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And they also show West repeating that quote to Kyle, and Kyle cracks up. But Ben is like, you know, Amanda and I have a good friendship, and now he's like doubting himself, worried that other people think he's like trying to hit on Amanda, which is not his intent.
SPEAKER_01Kind of given the benefit of the doubt that it I don't think there's anything more there than a friendship. I think it all stems from Bailey being jealous, and it's weird that she's being jealous of a friendship, you know. I don't know. I don't know where it's coming from. Maybe there's more that we're not seeing, but yeah, because I don't see anything there.
SPEAKER_00Cause he Yeah, exactly. Because they have their conversation and he's like, I'm trying to figure out where your head is at. Why did you say that? And Bailey says, I was just joking because you tell the story about how you went skinny dipping when you first met, and you always joke about you would if you could, and Ben's like, I never said that.
SPEAKER_01Was that just completely made up?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. And he's like, I you know, I think it was rude what you did. And Bailey says, I apologize if that wasn't my joke to make. And Ben's like, okay, but is there anything else going on? And I think just because she's like brought it up more than once, and he's like, You really think this is appropriate to say that at her birthday dinner? And Bailey's trying to defend herself, like, you guys, you know your joke about it, it's really loose. He pays Amanda all this extra attention, it's weird. And you know, Bailey won't admit to Ben that I think part of all of this just stems from that she kind of likes him and she's like deflecting. So then Ben kind of like loses his temper a little bit, and he's like, I'm asking the same question. You give me a BS answer that it's just some joke, but it's not a joke. You don't talk to anyone else like that. And Mia's eavesdropping in in the hallway and having some great facial expressions, so then and Ben just kind of like storms out. I had a question for you. Because later, Bailey, you know, when she's upset, she talks about Ben yelling at her. Yeah. Was he ever yelling?
SPEAKER_01No, okay. So because of her history with like her ex-boyfriend and all that stuff, like being in an abusive relationship, um, I felt bad when she was like saying that, at least in her words, like it triggered her and everything. So I was like, Oh, like I kind of feel bad for siding with Ben. But when I watched that live, I never thought once that Ben was like out of line or like raised his voice really even that much. It was kind of like, hey, this is twice now within like a week that you've called me out for something that I don't think I'm doing. Like, what's going on? He's visibly frustrated and he's trying to stay calm. I think he's kind of restraining himself. But I do feel bad for her. I don't want to be dismissive of what she's claiming and everything, but I think part of it it might be a little bit deflecting, um, and just she might just be like a little bit embarrassed.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think she got a little triggered because of her past trauma from other relationships, and then she Yeah, probably was a little embarrassed for sure. So I do feel bad for her too, but um, I just I was like, I don't think he was yelling. I think he handled it fine. So I love this next part because Mia is like floating down the stairs to Sierra and KJ in the living room. Oh, I've got some tea. Yeah. So she she like recounts what happened and she's like, Ben stormed off. And Sierra's like, Oh, I like that Ben has anger issues. You know, don't storm off when I'm talking to you, but I like that he can.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's funny.
SPEAKER_00All right, so Ben goes back to the guys in Club Sender and he's like, Okay, I'm moving on. And then Levi and Bailey chat, and Levi, she's being a good friend, but she's like, Yeah, it was clearly a joke when Bailey's talking about what happened, and I'm like, Okay, but it was an inappropriate joke.
SPEAKER_01Context is everything because they are at a tough point in their relationship. Everybody can see it from outside. You know you're rocking the boat if you're gonna make a comment about either one of them, you know, yeah, sleeping with somebody else or whatever.
SPEAKER_00Don't bring it up, they're getting along right now.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I don't think anybody in that room would have been that uncomfortable if they thought it was just a joke.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but yeah, so everybody gets ready to go out, they change out of their fancy attire, and everybody goes out besides Bailey and Levi. They stay back. Bailey's not up for it after the Ben confrontation. They go to a different bar.
SPEAKER_01Murphs, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Looks like they had looks like it was a lot of fun. Yeah. They get back at 3 01 a.m.
SPEAKER_01Not three.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I like Amanda looks outside. Ben, Wes, and Kyle are back by like the car and she goes, Dumb, dumb, and dumber, come inside. So we see like a lot of their postbar antics, and then they're in the club send it again. Sierra's laying on the floor and Wes sits on her, and then we see Sierra in her confessional, like, when Wes sits on you, you know he has a crush. He did it before we even started first dating. So why now? Why does he have a crush now?
SPEAKER_01It's like a like a kindergarten move. Yeah. Oh, if he sits on you, that means he has a crush on you.
SPEAKER_00But yeah, just uh Wes and Sierra are getting flirty, and Jesse's like, Oh yeah, I'm happy for them. I'm not jealous at all. It's like, dude.
SPEAKER_01I think he was joking. Yeah, like he was kind of making fun of himself. Like, who jealous? Me? No, no, no.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, probably. They probably just clipped it out of professional. Yeah. It was funny though they showed a little clip of like Bailey and Levi, and Bailey's like dancing in her bed along to the music. We see Wes and Sierra snuggling a little bit in Kyle Amanda's bed, and then Sierra leaves for Buffalo Chicken Dip, which side note is amazing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it is amazing. What time is it at this point, though? It's like between three and four.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because after Wes sat on Sierra, they showed it was 3:13 a.m. So sometime after that. And then Kyle is chatting with West, and he Kyle's like, that was awesome. And Wes is like, What? Are you talking about me and Sierra? And um, he's like, Yeah, you guys are vibing. And Wes is like, I don't know what to do. And then we see Wes chatting in his confessional, well, it's not a crush because we aren't friends during the day. And the producer is like, Do you need to be friends during the day to have a crush? And then he's like, Well, I guess not, because you can fall in love in the club. There's a song about it. It's an after hours crush, definitely not a breakfast crush. I was like, or a breakfast casserole crush. So Kyle and Amanda have like a quick moment. She left the gift, but then the more interesting part, Wes goes to the kitchen, which Sierra is there still like eating buffalo chicken dip. But Wes is wearing just like jeans and no shirt, and she's like, Why do you look like that? And he's like, Because I thought I was alone. And then he asks Sierra if she's having fun, and she's kind of like, Do you mean like tonight? Or on the whole? Like, what do you mean? He's like, I don't know how to talk to you. And she's like, Yeah, I've designed it that way on purpose.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, she has a good she has a good way of like pulling stuff out of the guys, like they get so flustered with her.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, she keeps them on their toes, and for some reason during this whole conversation, Wes is holding cold brew.
SPEAKER_01I yeah, I noticed that. I I was like, is he drinking it or is he throwing her away? Maybe it was empty. I don't know, but I was like, dude, don't drink the cold brew at four o'clock in the morning.
SPEAKER_00And yeah, Sierra talks a little bit about I'm not sure about this when I'm sober. I don't really think that I trust you. And like in the middle of that, Ben kind of like walks into the kitchen and immediately turns around.
SPEAKER_01It's like, oh, never mind. Yeah, walks out.
SPEAKER_00So next thing we see is Saturday, July 26th. It's 10 20 a.m. and everyone's pretty hungover. Randomly, Wes goes up to Jesse in bed and starts kissing him and says, You're a sweet boy. Would you ever do that to a friend?
SPEAKER_01Negative. No. Yeah, that's two two episodes in a row where they've they've kissed. I maybe they'll end up together. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00That that would be the true love story. They show Bailey and Levi. I'm like, how long have they been in that bed? Like they were there since before everybody went out the night before. Now they were still awake at 3 a.m. when or at least they woke back up at 3 a.m. when everybody got back. But Bailey's like talking about how she's now she's just mad after she's had time to think about what happened and she's gonna go off on bed. Then Ben and Kyle go to the gym, and Amanda's like, that's crazy.
SPEAKER_01Ben looks so hungover and we're going to the gym.
SPEAKER_00Sierra and Amanda debrief, and then it's 1.24 p.m. on Saturday, and they're gonna go to a vineyard. They show them getting ready, and Billy's like, Oh Levi, that's such a good outfit. And when they showed her, she reminded me of an actress, like really viscerally, and it was driving me nuts. But I finally placed it, and I didn't I didn't recognize her name when I looked it up. Anybody that she somebody from Princess Bride.
SPEAKER_01No, no, uh I can't place it, no.
SPEAKER_00I the actress's name is Debbie Mazar or Mazar. She's in Entourage, she's like Shauna Roberts in Entourage. Oh, okay. She's also in the show Younger, she's like the main character's roommate. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That was random, but she just really reminded me of her. Uh so you know, they get in the cars to go to the vineyard, and Sierra tries to kick West out of shotgun, and he's like, No, I'm gonna stand up for myself. Which was just a funny little exchange, and Sierra jokes that that um infraction costing him one month longer of probation.
SPEAKER_01Well, he was like one small step for mankind. She was like, one month probation for you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. When they get to the winery, I think so. I think it's Amanda. She's like, What's the difference between a winery and a vineyard? But I think she meant to say vineyard. It's just funny.
SPEAKER_01And then she just didn't like finish the the joke or or whatever. She was just like, never mind.
SPEAKER_00Uh Bailey is super awkward because she doesn't want to sit next to Ben. So she like is like, Oh, I'll sit here. Oh, no, no, no, never mind. I'm gonna sit over here. Kyle just like raw dogs a grape off the vine directly, and then the person serving them comes over. And West's like, Oh, can I go first? And he's like holding out his glass, but it's not the champagne glass, because she has a sham, like a sparkling wine or whatever. And they're like, dude, she just called you uncultured. I just remember one of the times we went to wine country in California. They're like, Okay, so this is how you hold the wine glass and you like hold it by the bottom so that your hand doesn't change the temperature of the wine by holding the glass. I'm like, I just want to drink the wine. So Sierra then gets Kyle to go take pictures of her. Kyle's like, they didn't call me Ansel Adams in high school for nothing, which is such a random comment.
SPEAKER_01He goes into like a whole whole history lesson of Ansel Adams.
SPEAKER_00Sierra didn't know who Ansel Adams was. Uh I learned about him in photography class in high school.
SPEAKER_01So as a professional photographer, it looked like he had like some like point and shoot cameras.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, I noticed that the night before they had a like a early 2000s point and shoot camera that we would have taken to the bar when we were in college. So I don't know what the brand was, but what was the kind that was like really popular back in the day?
SPEAKER_01Cool oh, Cool Picks, the Nikon Cool Pics. That's what I used to think.
SPEAKER_00I was thinking of the power shot or something like that, I think. I don't know. I it was I was laughing really hard because Kyle was like being silly and making a really funny, like awkward squat as he was taking photos of Sierra and Mia's like zooming in on Kyle's butt with her phone. So then we have Amanda chatting about the watch and the gift. She's like, you know, the watch was really more of a gift for Kyle than for me because everyone like applauded him and and they're like, Yeah, actually that is accurate.
SPEAKER_01It was spot on, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was so spot on. And then she's joked, she can leave him now and she got a watch out.
SPEAKER_01Which is also spot on.
SPEAKER_00Which in retrospect is kind of bad form, but when she made the comment, she didn't know she was gonna be getting divorced.
SPEAKER_01So yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, then Sierra asked Ben to play cornhole with her, and I immediately was like, but you need two more people to play cornhole.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was not a very accurate depiction of the game of cornhole, but all that aside.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it wasn't about the cornhole, it was just an excuse for them to get a one-on-one. Uh and Sierra starts by, you know, I actually don't hate you, which was funny. She's like, You were a great addition to the house, you know, you're not as stupid as the other guys. Uh, but she does say, like, you know, I can see you're uncomfortable with some of the attention, and she's kind of like, you know, what's your deal? Are you looking for a relationship? And he talks about how he's been trying to work on himself and that he was dating somebody, but he they moved pretty quick. And then she said she loved him, he froze, and he screwed it up, and he's like, Let me get through the summer. And she's like, I'm not gonna wait around for you. Uh, but Sierra gives him some advice. Okay, well, if you are still interested in her, it's all on you to go back and be like, I screwed up, you know, this is what I want, and I got scared, etc. So I think that's kind of like what she wants before she would ever consider trusting West again. Right. He would have to be very clear with her that he screwed up and he now wants something different.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah, that's interesting because I wasn't thinking about Sierra and West in that conversation. I was just thinking of like Ben's thing, but that's a good point. Because I you kind of see it in this episode. Like West does kind of have this opening. Like if he just had a serious conversation with her and said, I screwed up before, I am still into you. Are you open to having a relationship or am I, you know, barking up the wrong tree? And I think she would respond really well to that conversation, but that's why she's kind of like, What do you mean? How am I doing?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I think she's trying to pull it out of him, but but I also I don't know if he knows what he wants. Like he might he might like her and have feelings for or he might love her, but if he's not ready for a serious relationship like what she wants, then I think that's also contributing to his hesitancy to voice anything.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And I wonder also if the friendship with Jesse is also like another hesitation for him. I don't know. Maybe Wes should just ask Jesse, hey, is it okay if I make out with Sierra?
SPEAKER_00So they leave the winery, they get back to the house. Amanda and Ben are joking about you know going in the pool, but they can't skinny dip. And then in the background, you pointed out actually Kyle and West, it looks like they're peeing at the rock.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00Which I'm sure they are. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, I was wondering if like when they edited that, like they realized that they were in the background doing that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And they talk about they're gonna play games by the pool. So then we see them playing a game with solo cups and ping pong balls. It's not fear pong and it's not flip cup. Right. I feel like we've been places before where people have played this game. I wasn't sure what it's called. So I look tried to look it up. Uh the internet says it's called titty ball or maybe chess ball.
SPEAKER_01I don't know, but those names don't ring a bell, but they don't.
SPEAKER_00Our friends must call it something else, but you know, send us an email at let me catch you up pod at gmail.com to tell us what it's supposed to be called. It looked like they had a lot of fun. But Ben and Sierra beat Amanda and West. Then we get a conversation with KJ and the girls. And I guess they were I don't know why it came up at the vineyard, but they flash back that KJ said, Oh, the last time I had sex was Friday morning. And so they're like, Oh, who are you having sex with? And he's With who? Yeah. Like obviously Dara. So it seems like things are getting serious quickly, or at least like he's very interested. He talks about how he got her got them tickets to see the Yankees for Monday, and that he's feeling like they connected really well on a lot of things quickly. And he's like, It's not too fast if you know you like them. Like, don't try to play any games or wait to call, just you know, go for it, which I liked a lot.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I agree. Especially in a lot a lot of these like reality TV shows and everything. It seems like sometimes that they're overthinking it too much, and and KJ's just kind of like, no, I like her, so I'm gonna spend as much time as I reasonably can with her.
SPEAKER_00So yeah. Random, but Dara is, I mean, she's officially part of the cast because she was in the cast bios, but like last week she didn't sleep over and she's not even in this episode. I'm like, what is going on?
SPEAKER_01Maybe it's gonna be like later. I mean, how many episodes are left? Yeah, I don't know. Maybe later on.
SPEAKER_00Maybe she'll be more in the second half of the season.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and so then the last part of this episode, West and Ben go to have a chat because Wes is like, Oh, I'm going through so many internal battles. And so Ben's like, Okay, let's talk about it. And Wes talks about how he's been in a gray area with Sierra for a long time, so it's feeling good to be more friends, and he loves her as a friend. And Ben's like, Well, do you miss her? And he's like, Yeah, it was dreamy when we were together. I think she's great. And Bet's kind of like, Well, what happened? And Wes says, you know, she wants a serious boyfriend and he wasn't in that place, and he has regrets and he does miss her. And Ben's like, Do you think she knows that you miss her? And he's like, Yeah, she knows. And I'm like, I mean, if you didn't tell her, then I wouldn't assume she knows. But Wes is like, I don't know what I don't know what to do. Which I think goes back to what we were just chatting on. Does he just want to be friends or does he want something more? And if he wants something more, is is he able to kind of meet what Sierra needs? And if he's not, then I think you should just stay friends.
SPEAKER_01And then like maybe stop the flirting and stuff. I I feel like you gotta pick you gotta pick a direction. Yeah, because him and Jesse, like both. I I don't know. I don't know. Some people are just flirty, maybe it's fine if they're all single, whatever. But I feel like I'm confused. So I don't I don't know what what they're thinking, but like between the three of them, like a lot of flirting going on. I have no idea if anybody wants to actually be in a serious, committed relationship with each other. So I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean, and or they could have a conversation, be like, yeah, I'm let's just be friends. It's fun to flirt, like we can flirt, but both of us know that's all it is. Right. So we see scenes for next episode. Ben goes skinny dipping. I'm wondering if they were like playing some sort of truth or dare or some game because they're like sitting around and then he just like immediately runs out of the house, strips down and jumps in the pool. Then they show Amanda asking Kyle, How long are we doing this DJ thing for? I didn't marry a DJ. I can't wait to see that scene.
SPEAKER_01I think I'm ready to go back to the Kyle and Amanda fights. I I've detoxed from it. I'm I'm ready to get some more of it. Let's go.
SPEAKER_00I thought this day would never come. Well, I don't think you're gonna have to wait too long because it was hard to kind of follow in the the scenes for next week, but it looks like Kyle curses out Amanda and like storms off at some point next weekend. Uh and then they show that West is really flirty with Sierra, and then they show a chat with the girls, which looks like Lindsay is also back next episode, which is good. Uh, but Mia is telling Sierra that she thinks West is in love with her, so that's where where it ends. Any red flags? I had one. I think it my main was just Bailey's comments. It was just like so off-color and uncalled for.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Especially interrupting Ben in that situation, like in that big group. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And that she didn't own up to it and everything.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Not much to say about it that we haven't already said, just that was my red flag.
SPEAKER_01I had one. I I don't know. I I guess I'm questioning if it's a red flag or not, but it's it's funny because Ben was a bachelor, but I I feel like now I'm kind of outing myself as a uh bachelor, bachelorette. I've watched a couple seasons, but I know enough that there's like a lot of people that are on that show that they're like, wait, is it true that you were in a relationship right before you came on this show? Like so-and-so, you know, DM'd me and said that you were dating somebody, and then you you said, wait for me, like when I get off the show, like we'll be back together and stuff like that. And I don't know. I don't I don't think Ben is like that. And he even owned up to it. He kind of said, like, I know this sounds bad or whatever, but we were only like seeing each other for a couple weeks and it was moving too fast. And I said, I'm going on this show, let me see how this goes, and then let's you know go from there. I don't know. Did did you think that was a red flag at all that he kind of like semi-dropped this girl to go on on reality TV and then see how it goes?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so the way I interpreted it was that he didn't necessarily drop her because he was going on the show, like he got a little bit spooked because she said she loved him and he felt like it was really fast. But yeah, it is a little bit of a red flag to then be like, uh, if you still are interested when I'm off this show, maybe I'd be interested too. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01That's that's the part that I'm like either break it off and be like, hey, like, sorry, but to be like, stay on the sideline just in case, you know, like yeah, that's not a good look. But he owned up to it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So yeah. All right, so I think I'm first for MVPs this week. Yep. Okay, so this one I was kind of between Amanda and Mia, just for but I picked I I picked Amanda because she had a lot of good one-liners, and it was her birthday, and it looked like she was having a lot of fun. And, you know, she had the comments about dumb, dumb, and dumber, the stuff with the watch and the gift, and then I think she handled the whole Bailey thing with Grace, and she was really chill about it. She's like, I didn't really care, you know, I just was worried about Ben. So I was really liking Amanda this episode.
SPEAKER_01I think this is the first time this has happened. Do I have to change mine now? I I picked Amanda also. Okay. Yeah, I mean it's her birthday. How could you not pick Amanda? Yeah. Um, yeah, the watch thing I I was cracking up, especially it was funny because like she seemed genuinely surprised and and happy and everything, and then she was like, Yeah, I picked it out, and then when she was like, Yeah, and then we split up, I get a nice watch out of it at least, and everything. So yeah, um, yeah, I thought I thought she had a pretty good episode.
SPEAKER_00Definitely. And then sandwich rating this week. I gave it a 4.25 out of five sandwiches. I liked the mix of fun and lightness with, you know, the drama that doesn't matter at all between Ben and Bailey. I like the whole West and Sierra stuff, flirting and West being excited, but cautious, and Sierra still kind of giving him a hard time. I felt like you know, KJ and Mia continued to also really shine. I love Mia's moments, like her facial expressions are really good. She brings a lot of fun and lightness too to the house.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, I agree. I so I I went four sandwiches out of five. A lot of the same same things. I mean, I thought it was a good episode. Yeah, I agree. I I think it feels like there's a lot of new people on the show, but it somehow works. The new cast members are definitely a good good addition, I think. Yeah, KJ and me are a lot of fun. Ben, even though he's like quiet, he's somehow stirring up drama in the house and everything. And then yeah, Bailey and Levi are funny together and everything. So but yeah, I thought it was a good episode. It had a little bit of everything. I don't know if we needed a break from Carl, but I think he'll be back next week, probably, right? Did they show him in the scenes? I don't know.
SPEAKER_00I don't know. Hopefully, we'll see since he's working on softbars, soft launch.
SPEAKER_01Softbar, soft launch. Yeah. Yeah. Good episode. Good episode.
