SPEAKER_04

Welcome to Let Me Catch You Up, the podcast where I explain reality TV to my husband.

SPEAKER_00

And I ask a lot of questions.

SPEAKER_04

I'm Liz, a longtime Bravo watcher who's been following Summer House for years.

SPEAKER_00

And I'm Pat, a casual observer who's been in the room, sometimes paying attention.

SPEAKER_04

Each week we're recapping the latest episode of Summer House, breaking down the drama, the relationships, and everything you might have missed. Whether you've watched every episode or you're just trying to keep up. We're here to catch you up. Let's get into it. Alright, it's Tuesday night. We just watched part two of the reunion. That was also very intense and riveting.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. I was kind of thinking there wasn't much more that they could talk about, but yeah, it was crazy in some different ways.

SPEAKER_04

I think getting the more insight into Kyle and Amanda's marriage or lack thereof and how that kind of ended and everything was interesting to hear. And I like more of the focus on West and his lying and stuff.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, we'll get into more detail, but talking about their marriage and like some of the stuff going on in their relationship was a little bit uncomfortable. But yeah, definitely helped explain a lot.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. I loved Andy's faces, his facial expressions. There were some really good ones. You just see those memes.

SPEAKER_01

He is the perfect host for that environment. He's not like an unbiased mediator, like he calls people out and stuff. It's pretty entertaining.

SPEAKER_04

Definitely. I honestly, I would I would love if he would call people out more sometimes, but I also understand he has to try to not make it too skewed.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think he is trying to be unbiased, but he he can't hold back.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Uh a couple before we dive into details, a couple notes from the online discourse over the week. A couple things about, you know, the timeline. I saw one theory that Amanda lied about when they first slept together because she felt stupid after realizing that people were aware of Wes spending the night with Mija as late as like March 24th, the day before he went on watch What Happens Live. And then I saw another theory, which I think is probably true, that Amanda jumped in. And so when Andy said, When was the first time you slept together? It looked like Wes was about to answer. And then Amanda jumped in and she said after the statement, but she didn't say which statement. And the theory was that she's technically not lying because she meant after her and Kyle's joint statement about them breaking up.

SPEAKER_01

You sent me that, and at first I I kind of brushed it off. I was like, that's kind of like reading too much into things, but then I kind of thought about it a little bit more, and I that is something that she would do.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I believe it. Because I mean it being after her and Wes' statement is not believable at all.

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_04

But she can say that she's not lying because she technically didn't lie because she didn't clarify which statement.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Is there a scenario in which like she genuinely thought she was answering the question truthfully and being like, oh, it was after the separation statement? No. I'm giving her too much credit. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, she does not get that. Benefit of the doubt. Uh yeah. Other random things. Lala from Vanderpump Rules said on her podcast that she has heard that Kyle's really good in bed. So there was speculation that she heard that from like Megan King Admins or something. But I mean, Kyle said they just kissed in the reunion episode, so it's so random.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Based on his reaction, I would be surprised if they had slept together.

SPEAKER_04

But I think Lala's just trying to get a piece of the summer house lift.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

She has a podcast.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that makes sense. Yeah. I don't know who else she would have actually heard that from, but who knows?

SPEAKER_04

Who knows? Uh and then Carl and Lindsay posted a picture together with like Lindsay's hand like on Carl's chest, like today or yesterday. I guess Lindsay's going on Carl's podcast, but seems like they're friends again, which is nice. And then the only other thing I saw end of last week, supposedly KJ and Dara like stopped following each other. So there is speculation that they break up. Then KJ released a music video, like he's uh got an album or something, so released a single, and she is in the music video. So I'm very curious to know what the status of the relationship is, but I don't think either of them have clarified. I'm not sure.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. It sounded like they've been off and on, like they haven't really been dating like the entire 10 months, whatever.

SPEAKER_04

So yeah. I saw I think it was KJ on a on Carl's podcast, but he was talking about the fall after this after like the season filmed. It sounded like they did break up for a period of time, especially while he was like going through treatment and stuff.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I figured that that would make sense.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Anything else from social media this week?

SPEAKER_01

Uh Sierra and Shabuzi.

SPEAKER_04

Oh yeah, right. That's a good one. Sierra's gonna be in Shabozy's next music video. Right. I I mean I just saw like so many ads that Sierra's in. Yeah, she's all over the place now. We love to see it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Let's see. Okay. So this episode just picks up, obviously, where we left off, and Amanda's emotional, but Lindsay is like, you know, I feel a little protective of you, but Wes is definitely gonna do the same thing that he's done to other women to you. And Kyle's like, yeah, like I was trying to clarify what's your understanding of the relationship with Miha, and then like Wes tries to jump in, and I love like Lindsay's like, Wes, you're a pathy. We don't believe anything you said.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Like, yeah, we can't believe anything he says at all.

SPEAKER_01

We really can't.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. We know he's lying about Miha, and he just continues to lie, and we like obviously we see her perspective in the conversation with Sierra at the end, which was awesome, and like I was shocked by. I was like, oh, who's she like allowed to FaceTime during her like break? I was like, who is she? Is it gonna be Paige or like her mom or something? And then it was Miha. I was like, oh my god, oh shit.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that was great. Not only do they have receipts, but they have the actual person.

SPEAKER_04

Like Wes is like, well, it's been public who I've hooked up with every once in a while. Like, dude, stop lying.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you can't just downplay a relationship. You can't just make that stuff up.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Um, KJ shared a little bit more about why the situation felt like really hurtful and triggering for him too, about how his dad was a pathological or habitual liar and how he saw it destroy his family's relationships. And like West is like, yeah, you know, if you're open to it, I love to have a conversation. I just don't know. I don't know what I would do if I were in these people's shoes. Like, I'll have a conversation, but I'm not gonna believe anything you say.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Yeah. And he was just nodding a little like you were saying in the last episode. Like, he's like, uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh. Yep, liar. Yep. Okay. He's not defending himself and he shouldn't.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. I mean, he doesn't say anything in those moments, but then he tries to defend himself by still lying about the reality of his relationships.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Or downplaying things, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

So then they they touch on the conversation that they had this season about race, what it's like being black and on a reality show, especially one that's like more of a white reality show, as well as like the the difficulties that that Sierra f has faced interracially dating. And I thought that was interesting because Andy kind of uh asks uh Sierra, like, did you you know Wes spoke up in that situation and said that he sees you more. Did you believe him? Do you still believe him? And she's like, Yeah, I believed him then, but I definitely don't believe him now. And I think Wes and Amanda were just kind of saying stuff to like satiate me or say what I want to hear. And this is what Amanda says she meant, she's like, everything over the summer that I said, I felt, and that we talked about that's truly how I felt at those moments. And she's like, I've just got caught up in my feelings. This has hurt me a lot for you. It's like I don't know what the right thing to say is, but this is not the right thing to say.

SPEAKER_01

No, no, yeah. I I think in those moments, I think she might might have been like genuinely like, Oh, I feel for you, I'm a friend, and stuff. But okay, you were saying those things when it was easy and convenient for you, but when it comes time to actually be a friend, you're not acting that way.

SPEAKER_04

So yeah, yeah. Like maybe she thought she meant the things that she said, but clearly, if you can discard the friendship that quickly over this guy when you're not even sure where it's gonna go and you know it's gonna hurt her, like clearly you didn't see her as that good of a friend, right? That you wouldn't do something that you know is gonna really hurt her. And Andy says, you know, what makes you think this situation is different than the other women in West's life? We just get like a word salad, like the conversations that we've had, we've talked about that privately and what this would look like and what this meant, which is the only reason I'm sitting here next to him right now. And Lindsay's like, what the fuck? And like Amanda also says, I wanted to get to a point selfishly where maybe I felt I understood what was going on because I was going to have to be honest with Sierra no matter what, but she wasn't honest with her, so she's doesn't make any sense. She's like trying to say, like, you wanted to know where she was really at with her feelings with Wes before she was honest with Sierra, but then if you lie about it for months while you're figuring it out, that's not defendable. It's not like you like lied about it for a week and then you were like, shit, sorry, this happened and I needed a few days.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Did they think that they could just carry on a secret relationship for like the rest of their lives? Like it's gonna come out eventually.

SPEAKER_04

I'm assuming they wanted to wait at least till after the season was done airing and then after the reunion to not have to deal with this backlash like publicly. I personally think that Wes saw that Amanda was gonna come out of the season looking good with the impending like breakup of her and Kyle and like Kyle's meltdowns and things. So he's kind of like hitching his wagon to her by like becoming a good friend to her, and he was gonna kind of try to ride those coattails and look good for helping defend her this season. And then maybe he didn't count on them like getting together at first, or maybe he did, and like you know, they say later it's the perfect situation for West because she was technically unavailable, so he didn't have to commit to her, so he can make it gray. Yeah, but yeah, I don't I don't know what their plan was like if they didn't they clearly didn't have a plan.

SPEAKER_03

Right.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, maybe West had some sort of plan in his head because he seems very calculated, but I don't think things are going according to that plan, so yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think it's so calculated that he's like thought through all the steps and everything, but I I think there's some level of deviousness where like he doesn't have these these like moral boundaries keeping him from doing bad things to people that care about him. So if that makes any sense, like I don't think it's really formulating out these plans, but I do think like he's selfish, so he's gonna take those opportunities, even if it means like other people getting hurt. And I think Amanda's kind of like that too.

SPEAKER_04

So yeah, yeah, definitely. Like they're both selfish. And Dared kind of touches on this too. It's kind of like all he cares about is the perception of him. Yeah, like you said, it's not like a master plan necessarily written down.

SPEAKER_01

You know, I think that's a good way to put it though. It's like he's constantly reacting to like, okay, how are people perceiving me? And like, okay, that didn't work, so let me try this.

SPEAKER_04

Mix that with being a fuckboy that just wants to have multiple women that want him and are hooking up with him at any given time. Yeah. Uh well, we didn't touch on this part, but she says, I felt embarrassed to have to say I have feelings, and kissed Wes, and he's seeing someone else. So, like, she admitted she was embarrassed to tell the truth because he was she knew he wasn't exclusive with her. And Mia's like, I mean, yeah, it's embarrassing.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Was that Mia that said that it is embarrassing?

SPEAKER_04

I I think I'm pretty sure it was her. Um, and I agree, it is embarrassing, and it's just like sad. Like, she has such a low self-esteem or low opinion of herself that she goes along with this guy. I saw speculation online before that she was emboldened to leave Kyle because she had another guy interested in her, and that gave her like the confidence to be like, okay, because you know, we see this past season her being like, I just don't know if anyone's gonna like if I'm gonna find anyone else if I leave Kyle. Um, so her having that interest from West could have been the confidence boost she needed to kind of make the break. And that's sad. One, that's sad that if that's true. Um, and I do think she has low self-esteem, and that's on display by the fact that she's sitting up on the stage, still kind of like, you know, still presenting that they're together right after. Like maybe she is very dumb and didn't realize the gravity of the situation fully before they went public, but she should know now.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. No, they really have like at least from her perspective, she really has doubled down on this. Like, it's like she got all this backlash, she just went on the defense, and she's just like, instead of being like, Okay, everybody's saying this is wrong, so I should agree with them. Like, no, screw that. Like, I make the decisions in my life.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. So when they're talking about when Kyle and Amanda announced their separation, and Kyle's like talking about how she, you know, they they drafted it and he hasn't even had a chance to tell his family. And she's like, We need to publish it now, like an hour after they like made the decision together.

SPEAKER_03

Right.

SPEAKER_04

And she's like, but I decided that I was ready. And it's like, okay, that's fine. You you made up your mind, like, right. Kyle's also within his right to say, Can I have a day to like tell my family? Um, which just it kind of reminded me of her being like, and I wasn't supposed to pursue West if I had strong feelings. I decided I had strong feelings for him, so I can do whatever the fuck I want. Like, I don't know. I think she just thinks, coming from a place of privilege or something, that she can just do whatever she wants if it's what she wants. I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

That whole scene was so bizarre to me. Cause like going back to the okay, they slept together after the statement, well, which statement kind of thing. The fact that this like was so rushed out by her and everything. Well, there's definitely more to the story that we don't know still, because there's still lying going on, but like, did they get caught? And then that was like in the early timeline of their relationship, and then they like slept together after that. The fact that it was so rushed makes me like skeptical or yeah, it's very suspicious.

SPEAKER_04

Very suspicious. Like, so she's saying she wanted to make sure she put out a statement before the season aired because she didn't want the audience thinking she was still with him after you know he treated her so badly this season. And that's probably fair, but it doesn't explain why you need to publish it in an hour, especially because she's they published it on the 17th of January or 19th of January. The show premiered the first week of February, so you still had some time. It wasn't like it was the day before. Yeah. Maybe because the what like the trailer, did the trailer come out that day? Because or like it came out that week or something. Either way.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I think there was this false sense of urgency, unless, like you said, she was really worried about. Or it was like, okay, I've decided that I she decided she was ready to like sleep with Wes. So she's like, fuck, I gotta get this statement out because we have a date tonight.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Like he's like, let's hang out this weekend. She's like, Well, let me put out this statement first, and then I'm okay with it. Then it's fine.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It gets a little uglier for Kyle later on, but the one part of his story where like she was out the door this whole season and stuff, I I totally agree with that. At least, like, definitely by the time they started filming, she was already done. And like you said, it was like she just needed the right moment, opportunity, or courage, or confidence, whatever it was that was missing to just like rip the band-aid off and leave him. Um, that didn't happen until West came along, I guess, but she definitely did not want to be in that relationship at all.

SPEAKER_04

So yeah, that was obvious. So this is around the time Amanda says she needs a minute and walks off the stage, and everybody's like, West, you're gonna go after her? And they had to like tell him 20 times before he finally got up.

SPEAKER_01

I think this is like one of my favorite parts, to be honest. It was so awkward and uncomfortable. So, like they were like, Why don't you go? And he was like, Well, I don't know, are there still questions that you want to ask me? Like, like he's like, I just he's like he's respecting the you know, the QA.

SPEAKER_04

Like like Lindsay and Kyle were like, No, we're like legitimately worried about her, like go after her.

SPEAKER_01

Right. I think the fact that Lindsay was like so aggressive, like, go after your girl, go after. He was like, Like, I don't know what to do.

SPEAKER_04

And you know, Sierra's like, this is ridiculous. Like, you're the one that did the bad thing. I'm upset, and then you can't sit here and take it. And Kyle's like, Well, I think your comments about her, how she's might actually be the perfect woman for West is getting to her, and she's like, Well, she has historically had low self-esteem. I didn't lie. Um, and like I get that Kyle feels bad for Amanda, but she can't just go throw a pity party for herself and like get special treatment. She got herself into this mess, and then she like was wasting everyone's time, and she doesn't even apologize, or at least they don't air her apologizing when she comes back.

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_04

I get like being like, I need a minute, but like make it five minutes, Max. It seemed like it was a really long thing. And then when they come back from break, she didn't even come back for a while. It seemed disrespectful to everybody's time. Like, I that's a trigger for me when people waste other people's time. I don't like it.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_04

Because it's selfish.

SPEAKER_01

For sure. When they were like, I almost went after her because like I didn't know what he was going to, and like everybody was like, Yeah, me too, me too. And Mia was like, I did not almost go after her.

SPEAKER_04

She's like, let the record show. That was good, yeah. And Levi leaves, but so they take a break, and then Levi leaves, and it was like, Why was Levi even there?

SPEAKER_01

And he was like, Nice meeting you. Yeah, it was it felt like she was there for two minutes.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. They did their huddle when they went to take a break. So it was like Kyle, Mia, Ben, Carl, Sierra. And they're like, How are you like, Kyle, are you okay? And he's talking about how he's struggling, but he's like, I'm focused on West's ease of lying. He had a girlfriend this whole time. We have the receipts, and we learn that he's actually like been in contact with Mija, and that he's put her in contact with Sierra, and they talk about the theory that you know West slommed onto Amanda because he knew she was gonna have this like rise after the fallout from Kyle and her relationship. Carl talks about it being the perfect scenario for West. I like I don't think West had any intention of like getting himself into an exclusive relationship with Amanda, but I think he definitely was interested in getting like positive accolades from supporting her this season. Yeah, yeah. I do think that was calculated a bit, especially like when we see this season him like whispering in her ear during like the fights and them like huddling, and like I think they might have even been texting each other some too while they were filming. Like, oh, come talk to me, we'll talk about like how screwed up that was.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, even in like the break, it felt like a director, like you know, talking to an actor. Uh it's weird.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, but um, let's see. So, okay, so they come back from their break, mana's not back yet, and then Derek comes in, and this was cute. Like, this is the first KJ seeing her in her like look, and they're both in white, and she looks great, and they talk a little bit about their relationship, and as we mentioned, they say, like, you know, it's been 10 months since they first started dating, but they weren't together that whole time. And most interestingly, Andy asks Dara, like, what's her take on this whole thing? And she says something, and then Amanda's not there. So they basically have her say it again once Amanda comes back. And though, yeah, yeah, that's what I was gonna say. Like, it was way better the second time. And I, you know, paraphrasing some of it, but it was really good that like she's like his biggest concern. He has a pattern in his life, and like it's the West show. He's most concerned about if he's well liked and how he's received, he doesn't prioritize treating the women. He's linked to romantically with the same respect as anybody else in his life. So it's really interesting. It's like it's not even that he puts himself above everybody else in his life. It's like the people that he's like pursuing romantically are a step below like his platonic friends, it sounds like almost.

SPEAKER_01

Right. And then if they do try to like be their own person or push back on like the things that he wants and stuff, then he just pushes them away. Yeah. It's just he's done with them. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Cause she's like, I foresee him for a very long time having someone who will mold and fold and fit into his life without excuse or complaint. And then she's like, it's up to you, you being Amanda, to decide what's worth sacrificing, breaking and losing for that type of person, which it's like mic drop. Like Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Sierra's doing like a little like clap or whatever, and Kyle's like, Whoa, she's so well spoken.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It's funny.

SPEAKER_04

Uh we do touch a little bit on Ben, and again, it just it's sad to learn about how screwed up his relationship with his dad is.

SPEAKER_01

That was uncomfortable.

SPEAKER_04

I was the fact that it was a big deal that his dad touched his shoulder.

SPEAKER_01

And they they worked up all weekend. They worked up at that point.

SPEAKER_04

All week, all week to a hug at the end.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

It's so sad.

SPEAKER_01

It's really sad. Um, it felt like it was progress. Like I I was happy to hear that they at least did that, but yeah, it's super sad to hear.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, so let's see what else. Well, Andy says to Amanda, yeah, ironic for you going from the Kyle show to the West show. And Amanda just says, Yeah. Like, what? No response to that.

SPEAKER_01

Amanda was like, I don't know. She was very uncomfortable, like, very awkward like the whole time. Like her responses were weird. She her eyes are closed for like half the entire reunion. She's like rolling them or like meditating.

SPEAKER_04

I don't know, but she's either like breathing through a contraction half the time or rolling her eyes.

SPEAKER_01

Like it's kind of aggravating to watch when you like want somebody to take ownership of what they've done, and she's just like, looks like she's asleep.

SPEAKER_04

Couldn't she have gotten some media training before she went into this thing? Like, what? So they talk, they s Andy starts talking to Jesse, and they ask if the song about him being in love with his best friend was about Sierra. And he's like, No. And was it Andy, or did someone else say, or was it about West and Amanda? And he's like, No, no, no, I wrote it a long time ago. And then Sierra's like, Well, they can play the song at their wedding now. And Amanda rolls her eyes and it's like, okay.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

How is that not even that big of a like dig?

SPEAKER_03

Right.

SPEAKER_04

Like she can't even control her expressions for like a light this. So when when Andy's talking to Jesse, we also, you know, he talks about his singing stuff and going on tour. And they show Jesse like playing the piano and singing. And I was like, okay, this like actually makes me like his song and his music more. He should have done that for his music video instead of walking down the street with his weird smile lip syncing.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Those feel like a little cheesy and awkward, but like, yeah, like I thought the same thing though. I was like, oh, like when he's just sitting there singing, playing a piano and stuff. Um, I did feel bad for like he looked like he was genuinely like he's like, Look, I'm I'm really putting myself out there. I'm trying to do this. And like they showed him like that how he went to music school, like he's actually like trained in this. It's not like he just like picked up a microphone and said, Oh, like, so I'm gonna try to do this.

SPEAKER_04

That that helped explain it a lot more. I was like, okay, he w he actually went to school for this. I think that was the first I had heard that.

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_04

But it was it was cute. I think Kyle can probably relate because he gets so much of a beating for being a DJ.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, so then we'd get the part where Andy's talking to Carl a little bit. I don't think there was anything that interesting until they get to when they talk about the Carl as a mess ad happening and like how it happened.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

So they like flash to like Kyle's Man on the Street interview. And then um, you know, Lindsay's like, well, yeah, we were trying to bring some light-hearted energy to a dark situation. And Andy's like, Well, you know, Carl and Kyle, and like Amanda and Wes, did you have any feelings about them monetizing your situation? And I think he was like really asking Sierra and Kyle. He wasn't really asking Amanda and Wes, but he like threw their names in there, I guess as a courtesy. And Amanda's like, Yeah, I would never have done that to them during their breakup, and it did hurt a little bit. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Completely so unself-aware to realize like this isn't the same situation as Lindsay and Carl breaking up their engagement, as you having this crazy betrayal and lying situation that led to you revealing that you were at least hooking up slash dating.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

And Lindsay, of course, is like shocked by this statement from Amanda and Sierra. It's like, please give me a break. But then this is one of my favorite lines. Lindsay's like, I can't help what Kyle says on the street. He's also on his tippies making out with a nice housewife. And then Kyle's like, I wasn't on my tippies, it was the baggy pants. And Carl, Jesse, KJ, and Dara are like all laughing.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. He's like, roll the tape back, not on my tippies.

SPEAKER_04

And then like Kyle and Amina are kind of like going back and forth. Uh, but Sierra's like, so you would never monetize something like that, but you would fuck your friend's ex, like it make it make sense. Get yeah some self-awareness that that's like doesn't make sense.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I to hear her try to take some sort of moral high ground is just laughable. And like they they just ate her up, like when she tried to throw that line out there. You don't get to do that.

SPEAKER_04

I don't know who like, is her family talking to her? Like, why isn't anyone telling her, no matter what they say, don't defend anything, don't defend any of your actions, just take it, right? Right. Just apologize, just say, Yep, I shouldn't have done that. You're right. That's all you had to do. I don't know. It's bizarre. I also liked that Lindsay was like, Well, I've been here for 10 years, so I can do whatever the fuck I want. And then Amanda's like push back. I've been here for just as long. Technically, she wasn't a full cast member at first, but that's fine. And I think that actually I think that that fact actually like really bothers her that she wasn't like an original cast member, and like they have that to hold over her. So then Sierra does like talk about how she apologized to Kyle because she feels like she really misunderstood him during the season, and she was so caught up in her friendship with Amanda that she wasn't really interested in hearing his side, and she could have been a better friend, and she's like, I'm not saying he was right, or that like the way he that it explodes is appropriate, just it could have listened better. And like Amanda was just making like the weirdest faces during this. Like, like, of course, she would be on his side now. Like, I it's just like so inappropriate for the situation. Yeah, I didn't like so. Then they talk about Kyle's blow-up um at the freedom dinner, and then wait, was it the freedom dinner? The lost and found dinner is freedom dinner number two slash lost and found. Again, West is trying to blame Lindsay and Sierra because they're like, Well, why did you move your chair next to Amanda? Andy asks about that, and he's like, Well, I think in that moment, Kyle's anger was towards Sierra and Lindsay because they were grilling him and riling him up. But I kept seeing him take his anger out on Amanda. So I wanted Amanda to know I had her back when I thought Kyle was being a dickhead. And like Amanda smiles. Again, this is just like, yes, Lindsay was bringing up the conversation and pushing it, but on behalf of like Amanda, and like Amanda even blames Sierra later and says, Oh, you know, Sierra brought the separation up to me. That was her idea, but I was like, No. So I didn't like that they're both still like acting like Kyle should just be mad at Sierra. Like, we're so far past that.

SPEAKER_01

We went over this and everything during that, you know, that episode recap and everything, obviously. But um, the way that it was brought up definitely gave me the impression that Amanda, like one-on-one to Lindsay, basically asked Lindsay to like go after it, like not maybe directly, but she but said, like, oh, like he's doing all these things, like he's signing with the manager. She doesn't have to ask talk to me about it.

SPEAKER_04

She doesn't have to ask, or she knows what Lindsay will do if she says that.

SPEAKER_01

I think she manipulated Lindsay into Ryle. And Sierra Kyle and Sierra, yeah. And she knew that they would bring it up in front of everybody and that she could say absolutely nothing, and she would be like, I didn't do anything. I you know, I just sat there. Yeah. Um, I do think she manipulated that whole event and she knew that Kyle would blow up.

SPEAKER_04

Definitely. Um, and then they, you know, they ask about how Amanda felt having Wes defend her this summer in the house when no guys in the cast have typically like really stood up for her, which I can't even really remember at this point. I mean, Carl was definitely like on her side this summer too, a bit, but she was like, Yeah, it felt like someone actually cared and saw me. It's like, okay, but so you don't care if your good girlfriends are standing up for you because like Paige and Sierra have always stood up for her, but now that a guy is doing it, that's really like important to her. And she she even said it felt like someone actually cared and saw me. It's like this is Sierra's term. I didn't like that she used those words, like and I saw Sierra like flint Sierra flinched when she said that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah. I was trying to like I kind of hesitated because I was like, okay, is there any truth to this? Is that kind of messed up that like in past seasons the girls come to defend her, but like all the guys kind of gang up and side with Kyle? Because like maybe there is some something to that.

SPEAKER_04

I don't know if they gang up, but they don't defend her. That's I think that's like a separate thing than oh, it's so meaningful that Wes does it.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_04

It's only meaningful because you want his attention.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. I mean, also it kind of goes into like the inappropriateness of like their relationship of like the touching feeling and like how like close they are. I think if like if I was in that situation, if like a friend of mine and his wife were like fighting, if I went up to the wife and like put my arm around her, and I don't know. It seems like a weird thing.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. So then they get into the Cartier watch situation where that was the gift that Kyle got Amanda, and then West says in a confessional, oh, that's a red flag that he got her like a nice gift, and like compared Kyle to Wolf of Wall Street. Um, and I I just wrote projecting much, like so Wes, I think Wes is telling on himself here.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Uh like, oh, I've done that where I've gotten somebody a gift when I did something shitty or something. But he does say he's sorry and he took it too far with a bad metaphor. I thought it was like gonna be funny, and I was fired up because that same weekend you called Amanda names and stuff. And and you know, Kyle's like, Well, were you trying to make me look extra bad? Because you'd already started hooking up with Amanda, and Wes is like, Don't ask me if I was trying to make you look extra bad when you said dumb fucking bitch to Amanda. Um, and again, this is like the most fired up we've seen West.

SPEAKER_01

Right. I mean, it was a heated exchange and everything, but like I was super interested in the fact that he didn't answer that question. Like, I like he kind of deflected and stuff, and I was like, wait a second, like his question was basically like, were you hooking up? And maybe he's saying like during the confessional, but like I took it to mean like were you hooking up during the show, and that's why you were trying to make me look bad, but maybe it was later on.

SPEAKER_04

You already had feelings for her, so you're trying to make me look extra bad. He just said, Don't ask me that because you already look bad, which you do, but yeah, yeah, he kind of had some truth, some truth to that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he he used Kyle's bad behavior as uh a distraction from what he's he's done. So yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Um and then it like, you know, Amanda's like, Well, that was the first time you spoke to me that way in front of other people, but not the first time you spoke to me that way. So definitely doesn't I mean it's definitely obvious that they have had a bad situation for a while. And he talks about how they were not in a good place from night one, and he felt betrayed when she started saying that he was DJing to spite her. So they just like were doomed from the start of the summer.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. I think they were doomed from the start of their marriage or like before their marriage.

SPEAKER_04

Totally. Um again, I'm not justifying his behavior, but they both have toxic patterns and bad behavior in this relationship. So I agree. It was doomed from the start.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I I don't know. It's hard to kind of like go through the history and say, like, okay, who was justified in doing what bad behavior? It's like no, I don't think either it's all just messed up.

SPEAKER_04

Or just yeah, it's it's messy. Neither like rewind history, like they probably should have never gotten married. And like, you know, Andy asks, Do you think you stayed together way longer because of the show? Yes. I don't think Amanda would have dated or married Kyle if he wasn't on Summer House.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I would imagine the pressure, and I guess like anybody in the public eye, like to make it seem like your relationship is just fine, and like to keep on putting that persona up and everything like that. But um, yeah, it seems like they were doing what they thought they had to do based on their characters in the show, pretty much. But like on a real level, like outside of the show and stuff, like they should have never gotten married, and then like after being married for a year, and he's realizing, like, okay, she's not doing anything with me, like we're not actually a couple, then they should have ended the marriage, but like they just it had to get to this point where it's so nasty that they're like, Okay, we really need to end it now.

SPEAKER_04

So yeah, yeah. So I'm not I guess I'm not as surprised that Amanda stayed for as long as she did, but I'm kind of surprised Kyle stayed for as long as he did.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah, I agree. Like I up to that last minute, he was like trying to fix things, and I'm I'm like, how did it take you that many years to realize like there's nothing salvageable there?

SPEAKER_04

Maybe it was just like denial and like really just wanted to make it work.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

So a couple other things from like then this conversation with some of the Kyle and Amanda stuff. Kyle talks about how you know everything Amanda has been telling him that she wants now, he feels like has just been a lie. Because she's been like, I don't want you to go out, I want you to move to the suburbs, settle down, whatever. And Amanda's like, nothing has changed about what I want. And he's like, But you're going out till 4 a.m. two nights a week. And she's like, Well, I'm single, that's different if you're married. Um, okay, maybe, but also they're like, you're literally like choosing the Kyle 2.0, like, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And Kyle even says it.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. And Andy's kind of like, Yeah, aren't you worried a little bit? Like, he's such a good time Charlie. And that your whole thing with Kyle was like, you didn't like that. And you know, Kyle's like, This is so hypocritical. And then Amanda says she hated going out with Kyle. Not that she hates going out, that she hated going out with Kyle. And she's made that very clear because he would get drunk and they get in fights. And I thought that was like kind of mean because Kyle gets really upset.

SPEAKER_01

I think she was trying to like throw in like a jab. Um, yeah. I thought it was funny that Kyle was like getting all worked up about like you complained about being with like a party boy, and like now you're still with a party boy. It's just funny that he's like yeah, indirectly kind of like shitting on himself.

SPEAKER_04

He's like, This kid parties twice as hard as I do. Yeah. So then they talk about Kyle's like, I I've been going back and forth between feeling concerned and feeling betrayed by both of them. And then he talks about the day that they put the statement out on January 19th and how Amanda pressured Kyle to put it out the same day. So we already talked about that. Like, that's really weird. And she's like, Well, I had my I had made my mind up before that day on January 1st. Like, okay, that's fine. But it's also fair if Kyle's like, I need a minute.

SPEAKER_01

It's a joint statement, so yeah.

SPEAKER_04

And Kyle's like, Well, I watched this season, it was very clear you went into the summer with zero intention to continue trying to make an effort. And Amanda's, you know, no, I made my mind up on New Year's Day. And you know, Andy's like, Okay, so what happened? Amanda's like, well, Kyle and I were bickering, so I didn't go out with him on New Year's. He spent it DJing, and then I woke up the next morning and saw he was at a hotel in Hoboken, and Andy's reaction was just like, He's like, ooh, he made like multiple faces, it was so good.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I wanted them to elaborate on that. Like, what does that mean?

SPEAKER_04

But yeah, like, does that mean she thinks he's cheating on her, or what?

SPEAKER_01

I am curious about the Kyle faithfulness kind of like stuff, because like that's another example. Like, was he cheating?

SPEAKER_04

I mean, it was interesting, yeah. Talking about like, were there rumors and you know, did Kyle cheat on Amanda after they were married? And she's like, Yes, he stepped out on our marriage. And but like, what does that actually mean? Like, what does stepped out mean? And you know, she talks about, well, you asked a girl if you could kiss her and make out with her. Um, and Kyle's like, Yes, I've been inappropriate, and he's like, Well, I didn't make out, but then like he basically admits he did make out because Mana pushes back. So maybe he didn't make out with that girl, but he made out with a different girl. And then Kyle's like, Yes, I've been inappropriate, but I haven't slept with anybody or had an affair, and we're in an unhappy marriage where my needs are not being met. And Andy's like, Finally, he asks how long were needs not being met. I was like, Thank God he asked. Because I was thinking, like, if they don't ask this and clarify this, because they talked about it this season, I'm gonna be pissed. And Kyle says four years, so they're like, Okay, so the entire time you were married, which is like shocking. So they were never having sex since they got married.

SPEAKER_01

It sounds like crazy. Yeah, it's all bad. I don't know how to process that. Like, yeah, like is it is it completely just a show for for her? Like, is it like okay, everybody wanted us to get married, so we're married, but like don't expect this to be like a romantic thing. Like like it sounds like a yeah, it sounds like an arranged marriage.

SPEAKER_04

Like, did she ever like Kyle or did she just like the fame?

SPEAKER_01

Right. Because again, like Kyle's behavior didn't become He's been the same person the whole time, right?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, so they break for lunch, and we see Amanda talking to West in their dressing room, and she's like, This is frustrating. They're making me feel really fucking stupid for trusting you, as if like, and then she kind of just trails off, and Wes is like, Oh yeah, she's like, That's annoying.

SPEAKER_01

It almost sounded like a question, like she like looked at him like Yeah, like should I not trust you? Should I?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I was like, uh, what's your point, Amanda? And are you just realizing that this is like oh shit, what did I get myself into? Like what?

SPEAKER_01

Right. That's kind of what I thought. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

And then Sierra FaceTimes someone, and I already said this, I was just like, Well, who's this gonna be? And it's Miha. Um, and uh this was like really interesting because the Sierra's like giving her a little bit of like a lowdown of like how it's going so far. And she's like, they don't even look like they like each other. She's taking the brunt of it, and he's staying quiet, just jumping in occasionally. And Miha's like, Yeah, like we could have guessed. Uh so that was just like interesting to see that conversation.

SPEAKER_01

And they cut back over to Wes and Amanda, and Wes is like, Do you want me to chime in more? And Amanda's like, No, it's like, okay, I guess that explains that.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, she's like, it's just gonna piss people off. I have to attempt to speak for myself.

SPEAKER_02

It's like I have to attempt to speak for myself.

SPEAKER_04

Uh okay, it might piss people off, but if I were her, I would absolutely want him to be defending me more.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. It looks so bad. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

It looks like he's not interested in helping her at all.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Yeah. It's like I I don't know. Again, this is so complicated. And like Kyle said, it's so fucking weird. But like the fact that they're coming to this reunion hand in hand as a couple is just a weird thing. But then they don't seem solid. It seems like a another failed relationship just you know from the start. So is she gonna do this again like she did with Kyle? Like just stick with him for four years, even though she knows it's not right, like well, he goes, cheats on her.

SPEAKER_04

Um, okay, because Wes also says, I can tell Sierra gets under your skin really, really fast, and that's her goal. And I was like, is that her goal, or is she just trying to show you how like hurt and frustrated and like betrayed she feels? Sure, she's throwing some digs at her, but I don't really think her goal is just to like get under her skin. I think her goal is to like express herself.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah, I don't think she's trying to rile her up and get her to like self sabotage and like look like the villain, or like she's not calculated like that. Like, I think she's she has. Stuff that she's wanted to get off her chest for a long time, and she's like, This is my opportunity. I'm gonna say all these things. So yeah, that's a weird thing to say.

SPEAKER_04

And then Wes says, just breath.

SPEAKER_01

Is that what he said?

SPEAKER_04

Instead of breathe, he's like, just breath, apologies, and deliver it simple. That will help with composure.

SPEAKER_01

That's funny.

SPEAKER_04

Um, and then Amanda's like, Did I get fired up? And Wes is like, You acted like a person that's being cornered to like, Yes, you did. And he's like, Don't sound snippy, and she's like, I know I can do better. It's like, yeah, it's not going well for you, Amanda. Like, someone needs to like tell you the truth here. And Wes is not telling you enough of the truth.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah. Again, he's like trying to like kind of coach her up, but he's like, it's like he's it's like he's talking to like a a kid, like he like he's like sugarcoating everything where he's like, Yeah, I mean, like it's it's not that you're coming across like nasty or anything, it's just that like Sierra's really trying to bring that side out of you. So maybe just don't.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, so then they go back to Mija with Sierra, and Kyle walks in and he's like, Okay, so when was it exclusive? So we get a little more details that were very illuminating on Miha and West relationship. And she said that they were dating during the summer. He referred to her as his girlfriend all the time, but they weren't in a public relationship. And she she's like, Sierra's like, You built all the furniture in his house. And I was like, Oh hell no, she's building his furniture, bridge too far. Uh, and then me as like maybe he was just using her for that, yeah, yeah, right? Like, uh, task rabbit or girlfriend. And she says that she was at his house every weekend when he was like filming this summer, and they knew they were in an exclusive relationship. She went over to his place the night before, Watch What Happens Live. Everything was fine. He was telling her how much he loved her. And Sierra's like, okay, so did he explain why he wouldn't like take the relationship public? And this was interesting. She's like, he blamed the show, said he'd get fired if he's not in a relationship with someone that's in the Bravo universe. And Kyle's like, Yep, that was a great excuse because you don't actually know how it works, and you don't know that that's BS. Um, which I agree is like a plus manipulation. Um, and like the other excuse was like, Oh, I don't want to put you through that being in the public eye, basically, and people then potentially like having an opinion. And then she's like, Yeah, but you're comfortable dumping me the next day, publishing a a statement about a relationship with Amanda. So I guess that's that's how it went. Like he broke up with her, even though they weren't in an exclusive relationship. He broke up with her. So which was it? Um the day before the statement. And then we learn that they're like planning to confront him about Miha more. And also we see West being like, Oh, we're it's almost over. This I think it's gonna get easier. I'm like, I don't think it's getting easier, West.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so I said earlier, like, oh, maybe it's not calculated, or he's not like writing it down like a plan or whatever. That one sounds pretty written out. Like to be like, all right, I got a girlfriend, I'm also on the show. Eventually she's gonna see that I've been pretty flirty and making out with people on the show. So I'm gonna have to come up with like a reason for like why that's okay.

SPEAKER_04

So like Oh yeah, it's very, very manipulative.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

And it's a it's a smart reason.

SPEAKER_01

Right. I was saying he's he's dumb, but like manipulative, but like maybe I'm not giving enough credit for I think he's like smart in some ways and really dumb in other ways. That's fair.

SPEAKER_04

Like all the lying and thinking like you're not gonna get caught. That's pretty dumb. Right. Maybe it's maybe it's just like a um, he's still like he thinks he's like narcissistic untouchable narcissistic, like untouchable.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah. I think that's it.

SPEAKER_04

So we did not watch In the City yet, so we won't be covering that this week. Um, but looking forward to watching this week's episode. And yeah, the reunion continued to deliver. It was really good. Yeah. Looking forward to part three.

SPEAKER_00

For sure.

SPEAKER_04

Of course, there's like more questions and things to dive into from the scandal, but I'm like, is there anything, any storylines we like haven't touched on really at this point in the actual? I guess, oh, you know what? I'd like them to talk more about the whole Amanda and Ben thing and how Amanda said that like what Ben did want to sleep with her because I saw Ben posted online that he was like, no, she apologized later and admitted to like exaggerating that.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Yeah. I'd like to hear her response on like where did that come from? Or yeah, was there like a little bit of truth to it? Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

But I'd I'd be interested also to hear where they think the show kind of goes from here, but I don't know if they'll talk about that. But sometimes Andy does say, like, where do we go from here?

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, I'm curious.

SPEAKER_04

Well, we'll be tuned in next week.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_04

All right, good night.

SPEAKER_01

Good night. See ya.
