Episode 8 of Over-Caffeinated Dads“The Ocho”—is here, and we’re bringing the heat (and the caffeine) from start to finish.

We kick things off in The Bivouac, where we break down the aid kits we trust for real-world use. From everyday carry setups to travel essentials and range-ready gear, we dive into what we carry, why we carry it, and how being prepared can make all the difference when things go sideways. Whether you’re a seasoned outdoorsman, range regular, or just someone who likes to stay ready, there’s something here for you.

Next up, it’s time for a Big Reveal as we watch and react to the newly released Spider-Man: Brand New Day. You’ll get our raw, unfiltered thoughts as we break down what we saw, what has us hyped, and what we think this could mean for the future of everyone’s favorite web-slinger.

Then we slide into The Third String, where March Madness is in full swing. The brackets are busted, the stakes are high, and Jordan steps up to make his official pick. Will he call it right, or is he about to join the rest of us in bracket chaos? There’s only one way to find out.

We wrap it all up with What’s in Your Cup, and this episode features a taste test of the new Red Bull Cherry Sakura. Is it a must-have or a hard pass? We give you our honest take as we close out another episode fueled by caffeine and conversation.

If you’re into gear, sports, pop culture, and a little bit of everything in between, Episode 8 is one you don’t want to miss. Grab your drink, settle in, and join us for The Ocho.

SPEAKER_04

Welcome back, everybody. Overcaffeinated dads. We are coming in, bringing the energy this morning. Woo!

SPEAKER_05

Woo!

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

We're going. Okay.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, we're going. Yeah, we're going, Nick. This is the thing. Yes, sir. Where have you been? Bring the mic in. Yeah. We got pop filters now. We're like official. These are for you, Kyle. I know I already sent you the pictures together. And he said he he felt honored. An unprofessional person. Non-paid, unprofessional. I put those on at like four in the morning when I was trying to stay up to get ready for going on shift for my next couple night shifts. So if they're not straight, my bad.

SPEAKER_03

Dell yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I heard someone cracking it.

SPEAKER_03

Dale yeah.

SPEAKER_04

So you want to start with these? We start with what's in the cup? Yeah, we'll we could we'll talk about it at the end still, but we're gonna kick it off. We're testing out the the spring edition of Red Bull.

SPEAKER_05

Kedisakura.

SPEAKER_04

Keddy Sakura Origato. What what is Sakura? Does anybody know?

SPEAKER_05

No idea.

SPEAKER_04

Sakura? I only know Spanish. We're gonna have to Google that. We will let you know once we get to the end at what's in the cup. But first up today for our first segment, we have the bivouac. And what we're gonna be talking about today is our aid kits um that we take with us when you know I'm I'm specifically gonna talk about a first aid kit, so I don't have any of my trauma stuff in there. It's in a separate kit. Um Nick's gonna be talking about a mix of things, right? Yes, Jordan, same thing, you gotta submix the 10 years. Yep. So we're gonna let our medic bona fide get us started off get us started off right. So, Nick, what you got in your aid kit? I know you brought a couple different ones. Yeah, I've got two. Let us have it, dude.

SPEAKER_05

I just got I just got the new the new taco and I came with the Toyota first aid kit, Toyota plug. Nice. Um, couple good things in there. We were actually joking earlier because I've had to go out there and get band-aids for my son out of that thing because I ran out inside the house. But I also have my own aid kit that I built back when I had my gladiator shot out to Jeep. Jeep. Um I usually keep it. Especially my in my police unit, I carried a uh trauma bag for slash first aid kit, and then like some of some of the things that I like to keep in there, and you know, definitely if you're gonna go uh you know off the beaten path, these are some really good things to have. If you're going to the range, that's why I usually just keep it in the truck. Tourniquet, chest seal, trauma shears, splints, gloves, bassitracin, uh band at regular old band-aids.

SPEAKER_04

What a tracin?

SPEAKER_05

Bassitracin. It's for cleaning wounds. Yeah. Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_04

It's always you can buy it at a tube of it at like a saline type solution. Okay. All right. Um just is that a specific brand? No.

SPEAKER_05

It's the I think well, you know what? Honestly, I don't remember if it's the technical name or if it's a brand, but it's it's just an antiseptic ointment. Oh, oh yeah. Yeah, yeah. Um, but yeah, bassitrace and they sell it at CVS, they sell it at Walgreens, Walmart. Get you some and put it in your aid bag, it's a good idea. Um because is it neosporin the the gen or not the generic?

SPEAKER_03

It's the same thing. Yeah, okay. Like yeah, neosporin.

SPEAKER_05

Okay. Squeezers, motrin, antiseptic wipes. Yeah. Uh moleskin. For those of you, I think Zayn, you should know that because you're in the military. We use it all the time. Um, I'll go into everything in here in just a minute.

SPEAKER_04

Military and Boy Scouts, dude.

SPEAKER_05

Um bite and sting relief, EpiPen, if you can get your hands on one.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Um, and then trauma dressing and trauma blanket. I was a medic in the army, so I really carry a lot of a lot of extra stuff. Um, but if you're gonna go off the beaten path, like I said earlier, it's a good it's a good idea to have that stuff because you know, I mean, you wouldn't think that you'd need a tourniquet, but think about being on your own and then, you know, rolling down a hill and breaking your leg or rolling down a hill.

SPEAKER_04

Or if you're yeah, we've never done that ever. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

You probably didn't have an aid bag on standby. Oh, you did.

SPEAKER_04

Um I didn't. I know for sure. I think I did in one of my bags that was up the side of the hill somewhere.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

But just to trying to find it in the snow would have been fun.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, and I forgot. Trauma dressing and trauma blanket.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

I have all that stuff in there. Are you gonna need all that? You know, do you need if you don't have a lot of space to work with? I've got a uh place, I know Zayn does too, a place under our back seats to keep all that stuff. It's it's better to if Elliot, if you're listening, it's better to need it and not have it than or have it not need it. Yeah, other way around. Have it not need it, need it not needed. That's how you know that I've said that way too much with my son. Is that screwing it up?

SPEAKER_04

But I'd rather have it and not need it.

SPEAKER_05

There's been so many times where I didn't think I was gonna need it. And I like I think about all the times you go to the range, we you know, we talk about shooting and and all the gun stuff. Yeah. Tourniquets, chest seals, and I think we should definitely do a segment down the road where we cover, you know, each one and then an alternative.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Oh. Which that go for it. You're saying that. So we've been flirting with the idea, and I think we're gonna do it. We're gonna start a separate channel that's just gonna be a YouTube channel where we'll post videos of outings.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Um at the range, at the range, camping, going camping, going to museums so we can go to that museum in Dallas.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Six six floor museum. Um Friday, let's go. Huh? I said Friday, let's go. Oh, okay. Yeah, sure. Let's do it. But yeah, and then uh um doing work on our vehicles, hanging out at the if we go to the drag races when the Humphrey brothers are uh racing out there. Or shoot, we might just go to let's go to a NASCAR race, just why not? You know, I've actually never been to one. Neither have I. I've been to the I've been to the track. Go to the Texas Motor Speedway. Um for the name of the channel, I keep coming back to this, and we'll just go ahead and discuss it right here, right now. Why not why not? Um OCD out of the studio. What do y'all think? I like it. Agreed because it's not necessarily specific, it just talking about us our podcast outside of the normal. Yeah, like a change of pace for sure.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it'd be nice to get outdoors, do some stuff. But yeah, with the boys.

SPEAKER_04

That's where we could go where we may start talking about more and we may still talk about on the podcast too, but talk about more specific like we'll talk about hypothermia or talking about building a shelter. Um bushcraft stuff. I was in the Boy Scouts and Marines, water purification. So water purification, you know, things you can do if you don't have fancy equipment. We'll we could talk about some of the fancy equipment because I've got some of it. We could talk about the tablets and you know, just different things like that.

SPEAKER_03

Foraging, finding food, stuff like that. Yeah, I'm with all of that.

SPEAKER_04

Sorry to derail from our first aid kit talk. No, let me interrupt. Let me bring us back.

SPEAKER_05

Let me bring us back. So so I think we should, you know, I I have a real tourniquet. I have, you know, a real um oh my gosh. Real chest seals, real splints, things like that. But I think it's important that we cover, especially how much we plug, go into the range, going camping, being, you know, outside outside of city limits. I think it's important let down the road that we do a segment, whether it's on here or on the other YouTube channel, where we do, you know, if you don't have a fancy tourniquet, how what what you know just the basics on what you should have to make one because high and tight, right? Where you can use where to put it. I've got all this knowledge that I, you know, and it's belt.

SPEAKER_03

Because when when you said that, going into like stuff that I take, I take stuff that you can make shift if you know if something something happens, you lose it, or you're already using on something, but you need another one.

SPEAKER_05

And I think it's important because it well, not only that, uh I think people seeing what you how we build impromptu versions will help, you know. Oh, maybe I don't have that laying around, but if I'm out in the woods, now I'm now I'm looking around for that kind of stuff. You know, what size stick you should have for depending on the limb that you need to splint, if you don't have fancy splints or how big, you know, I I think it's two or three fingers is how wide you want your tourniquet band to be. I mean, if if you needed to use a shoestring, could you? Yeah. But you know, I think it's important that we cover that down the road. Um, and then, you know, just all the other stuff that we we keep on there. And then for those of you that don't know what moleskin is or weren't in the military or Boy Scouts, it's this here. It's based these are basically just stickers, and you peel them off and put them on your foot if you have if you're hiking, for example, and you have blisters. Um, because before I was in the military, I didn't know what that was.

SPEAKER_03

Or game changers. Yeah. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Well, and you don't think about that stuff when you're you know you're all psyched up. I got these new boots, I didn't, you know, they're not broken in. Now you're gonna have blisters, so have fun with that book.

SPEAKER_03

You haven't had those boots for 13 years.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, exactly. Yeah, Jordan's are pretty well remote. Like the real world, you know, Jordan. Not everybody's as lucky as you to have boots that last longer than most dogs.

SPEAKER_03

But I was gonna I was gonna touch on something that you said you you keep with you, and I put it's funny because I put it on mine. And mine I I never really thought about until I started working out in the oil field. Um, because um I have a buddy who's he his he's had a family member pass away from bees. Um and I never I don't know if I'm allergic. I've never been stung by a bee, so I don't know if I'm allergic. And one day we're on location for work, and um there's a whole bunch of wasps and bees, and they're like, hey, just be careful, you know, they're they're out today.

SPEAKER_05

Zayn, let's find out. Go ahead and release those bees.

SPEAKER_03

Press the button. We put liquid paper on a bee. The bee died. We're ready. Um it's expired, but we're ready. It's one of those things like I don't I don't want to find out out here. I mean, but I'm allergic to work for him.

SPEAKER_05

It just might not be as potent. But thank you, Uncle Sam.

SPEAKER_03

That's kind of one of the things that I added I added to mine. Um, was it EpiPen's? Yeah. And I actually looked like if you can get even get one, um, I think like the the brand you can't get, but you can get generic ones at CVS. I was gonna say surely out there.

SPEAKER_04

Walgreens are CVS, you could buy them. There's a generic brand, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, yeah. And that's not to backtrack, but think about when you go camping or you go to the range, you're worried about taking footwear, your do your gun belt, yeah, ammo, your guns, all that stuff, or your or your food and tent or sleeping sleeping equipment. But people forget all the time. And I mean, if you have kids, you know someone someone's getting something. Someone's getting a splinter, someone's getting cut on their leg.

SPEAKER_03

I I caught brass one time coming back from a steel target. And we we were safe, we were like 15 yards away, but still, and my dude was my my buddy was shooting his pistol, and a piece of the jacket came back, and like I was standing with my my hands down to my side, and it had enough force to move my hand back. And so I was like, like I felt it, and I looked at him and was like, bro, stop, stop, stop, stop. I was like, Jordan's like, I believe I've killed it.

SPEAKER_05

I kept my hand down to my side, I kind of like, uh Yeah, because if you don't look at it, it's not until you until it happens.

SPEAKER_03

And then thankfully it was just it just had to scrape my hand pretty good.

SPEAKER_04

And you may not even feel it right away. Yeah, right. It might you I felt my hand jerk back.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, it's funny that you mentioned that I played flag football after high school and I dislocated my finger. Dad, if you're watching, I know you and and Sally like to make fun of me because I acted like a little girl about it, but I dislocated my pinky, it'll never be straight. And I didn't I didn't realize it was dislocated until I looked down and then I saw it, and I was like, okay, now it hurts. It didn't hurt until I looked down.

SPEAKER_03

And that's just another thing, like you don't really, like you said, you don't really think about medical.

SPEAKER_05

You're not you're not thinking about that stuff. I can't tell you how many times I run out to my truck to get something that I that I keep in there. So think about that stuff before you go out. What do you got for us, Zane?

SPEAKER_04

Well, I said I wasn't gonna show my trauma kit, but I realized that my range bag is sitting right there. And nice. That's what Jordan's talking about going to the range. I never go to the range. My range bag, this is one of the first things that always gets put in there is my trauma kit. Yep. Um, and I've got like chest, there's a there's a at least two chest seals in there. Um because you never know when you're not a tourniquet in that. There's there is always a tourniquet attached with my range bag, though.

SPEAKER_05

Kazane, what's the first rule of firearms? Treat every firearm like it's a SIG P320. That's what I'm gonna say.

SPEAKER_03

You never know when your buddy's gonna bring his SIG to the range. Yeah, shoot yourself.

SPEAKER_04

This is my Amazon special bag um for my med kit. It is super sun-faded, as you can see. It's like pink or peach in places where it should be like coyote tan. What is that? A girl's bag? Dude, it's literally faded so bad, like it's it's falling apart because it was just because I ran it. I had it, I've got the Molly panels on the back side of my um Jeep seats. Yeah, and so I used to have it hanging on the back of there, and so when I take the top and doors off, it'd just be exposed in the sun real bad. But everything in it's still good, and that's that is that right there is a is pretty loaded. That's just basic first aid stuff. It's got like band-aids, some gauze, um, antiseptic wipes.

SPEAKER_03

All your OTC pills and stuff like that.

SPEAKER_04

Say what? Like over the counter stuff. Oh yes. Um, and then I keep I do keep gloves in there just for dealing with you know even cuts and scrapes and stuff.

SPEAKER_05

Um if somebody ends up having like poison ivy or something and you're gonna treat them, put gloves in there.

SPEAKER_04

I don't I don't know what else. It's I haven't even gone through it in a while. But you just reminded me of like trauma shears in there.

SPEAKER_05

If you have a bag, go back and check. If you do have a bag and you are prepared, go back and check um expiration dates. Yeah, check and make sure that your gloves aren't falling apart, check and make sure that that you don't need to replace things because I mean after a while the sun or whatever will take effect on you know, band-aids and things that'll lose their their adhesiveness, your uh your tape, things like that. So don't forget, double check aspiration dates.

SPEAKER_04

We're we're talking we were talking about this, and it's funny. I've been looking, I haven't I still haven't done it because of how expensive it is, but there's a company out there, and I and I see ads from all the time. Um, and it's called My Medic. And they actually they put together some pretty good first aid kits. They've got you know just your small basic first aid kits all the way up to the one I'm trying to looking at purchasing, which is it's called their medic bag, and it's a it's a very large bag, and it's got like I mean anything you can think, it's got suture kits in it, it's got a skin stapler, yeah, and it's got some pretty advanced, I mean it has C collars in there, some pretty advanced medical stuff. And so I've always wanted to get that because I like to overland. Um, some of the places I go camping when I'm overlanding is way out and you're not close to stuff. Um and so it's it would keep a that's got a lot more in there that you can deal with situations out there, way way out away from you know civilization. Especially if you could risk that you risk rolling your Jeep, you know, you can break stuff, yeah. It's pretty useful. Yeah, it's got and so wow, Jordan. Wow. Sorry. Actually, I need to make sure that's not work.

SPEAKER_05

I guess we need to start making sure our phones are on silent before we start.

SPEAKER_03

Wow, let's come back. But please silence your cell phones, boys.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, so that's that's something that I've been looking at. And then doing that. And I I've got like I said, I've got some decent training. I've I don't know how many times I've been through Combat Lifesaver at my unit. Yeah. Um, just it's not a good thing. Then you've never even sustained any real injuries.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. What do you even think about? Injuries have you ever had?

SPEAKER_04

Oh yeah, uh nothing. I I haven't I haven't done nothing anything ever in my life. But between you, Nick, and our buddy, our my other buddy Kyle, Nick and I's other buddy Kyle, we call him Doc because he was a Navy Corpsman. Doc plug. Um yeah, Doc plug. Um between the two of y'all, I want to try and get y'all to be able to teach me how to use all that, make sure I can use all know how to use all the stuff that's in that kit.

SPEAKER_05

So maybe we won't so that you need us.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Yeah. Well, I mean, I'll still need you guys.

SPEAKER_05

Imagine Zayn just laying there and like, oh, we didn't teach you how to use that. I guess you need me, huh? All right, you've led enough. I'll do it.

unknown

All right.

SPEAKER_04

Let me get in there. But yeah, that's that's sorry, these gloves are good. That's some of the kits I've got. I think I even have a notepad. These are the right size gloves board in in these. Um but yeah, that's that's what I carry um when I go out. And then like I said, I'm looking at making that purchase. But it's like a I think it's a $1,200 kit with everything. Yeah, that's expensive.

SPEAKER_05

But I mean, yeah, those kits are expensive, but you're also paying for the bag, and you're paying, I mean, a lot. If you if you broke all that stuff up and bought it individually, it's actually really expensive. Yeah, unfortunately.

SPEAKER_03

Well then, like you were showing me Zayn, like all that, like it's multiple stuff, like you're getting a lot out of it.

SPEAKER_04

So it's like that that kit specifically, there's a lot in. But again, they've they've got much you could they've got different tiers scaled down versions and smaller platforms that you can get that's got less, you know. That's like the ultimate. I think it's their most expensive product. They might have more expensive stuff than that, but it's a good start, and then you can buy those little mod pouches. So, like if you need to restock your kit, you can buy those on there.

SPEAKER_05

You don't have to buy the whole deal all over again.

SPEAKER_04

You can go through their mod their what they call mod lists, and it's like a pouch that's preloaded with whatever category you're gonna do.

SPEAKER_05

People forget, like I know I already covered this, but people forget. I mean, think about like spider bites, scorpions, snakes. I mean, are you gonna be able to find a kit that has anti-venom, especially for every I mean, if you're like super hardcore, I've seen guys on YouTube that actually have anti-venom kits for whatever area that they're in. Like they've already done the research, they know what what creatures they're gonna run into, they're prepared for that stuff.

SPEAKER_04

That sounds like an expedition.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, but if you if you just have the stuff that we're talking about, you're you're gonna be able to get to most likely gonna be able to get most get keep you healthy enough to get to somewhere that is is better prepared. Yeah. We just want to get, we want to carry the bare minimum to be able to get us to a to a hospital or a care facility.

SPEAKER_04

Well, and then if you're if you're just that over the top, you could also subscribe to Global Rescue. You guys ever heard of that? No, yeah, I know what that is. Oh, what is that? Global rescue is like it's kind of like you call them, they show up anywhere. It's almost like it's almost like you're subscribing to have PJs on standby for you.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, that's gnarly.

SPEAKER_04

Like seriously, like there's a there's a one of the overlanding uh channels I watch on YouTube. Uh John watches them too. He's the one that actually turned me on to their their deal. Like Zayn, we we have a helicopter guy. Why can't he just come in and do it out? John, are you listening? This family, they were out in the middle of like Alaska somewhere, like wilderness, maybe even been Canada. I don't remember. I mean, way off the grid. And they they you know, they subscribed to Global Rescue, and they uh it was one of their kiddos. I think they broke something like bad, like they needed to get to a hospital like yesterday kind of thing, and they they literally were to them and had them to a hospital within like eight hours. Jeez. For being out in the middle of nowhere. It was it was crazy. So I imagine you have to buy a sapphone. That I you know, I don't know. Yeah, I don't know what that entails. I mean, I guess if you have if you have Starlink, your regular phone would work. Oh, that's right. Wi-Fi calling.

SPEAKER_05

Do you have that? No. Starlink. I know I know John does.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

It's it's not that expensive. I thought it was gonna be like super expensive. Is it not?

SPEAKER_04

It's not very expensive.

SPEAKER_05

They have options for for it, so you can like they have like the overlanding package where you like pay for it when you're using it, and then when you're not, you're not you know, it's not nice, because I feel like it's just like when cell phones first came out, it's like everything's just wildly expensive, and then the the the the more it's out, the more people are using it. They're like, oh okay, I guess we can like how they used to when remember when they started chan charging you cable by channel? Yeah, it's like that. Like, why not why are they gonna charge you all year long if you're not gonna you know it'd be nice to just at like have a light switch, you just activate it and turn it on when you need it, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and it definitely helps with the first aid side of things in case you're out in the middle of nowhere. That's definitely a a good good tool, not necessarily putting your first aid kit, but just to have in case you need to be able to, you know. Because shoot, this is something that a lot of people don't think about. It's not a bad idea to have just an inexpensive GPS device like a Garmin to put in your aid kit, because if you're out in the middle of nowhere, you have your first aid kit, but then you also are gonna you you're gonna need if you're trying to call in for like air rescue or something, you're gonna need grid coordinates. You know, so if you don't that's something we may have to talk about, is talk about how to do grid grid coordinates if you're needing to you know get arrow care or somebody like that to you, you know, for for your aid.

SPEAKER_05

Now we're gonna have to teach people how to do a nine-line. Yeah, we could do that.

SPEAKER_04

I I I dude, I still have I still have my right in the rain.

SPEAKER_05

I was gonna say I had to teach a class on that a long time ago.

SPEAKER_04

It has it all broke down. I'm playing armor. I remember teaching a guy how to do a nine-line. They're like, You still have dude, uh, y'all made me start digging out my notes because of how how mil sim y'all are, you know. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Don't even make me get the storage unit and all the army stuff that I have still. Tactical acquisition. Again, thank you, Uncle Sam. I didn't steal it, I was given it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Cool. Uh I was gonna say, like, I don't I don't only have a bag per se set up. Wow. Yeah, I'm very wild. Yeah, you're stuck. You don't have it in your sandpipers of California. I don't have it in my sandpiper bag. Uh but it's like stuff that me like so I have a group of buddies that I we we've done saying, you've but you've trained with us before. Um we've done like uh CQB training, like we've done it with like, oh, you gotta get shot. Okay, you know, you clear the rest of the house and then you train. Or first aid, like uh practice putting on the tourniquet, using it, making sure it's tight. A lot of people don't know how.

SPEAKER_05

It's funny when you when you teach a class and you put it on somebody and they're like ah ah ah, and you're like, Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it's that's how tight it needs to be. I'm gonna need to go more too. Yeah, yeah, to stop the stop the flow of blood and then um getting the gauze and packing the wound and then wrapping it, doing it tight.

SPEAKER_04

Just and it's funny, like surprised how much gauze you can pack into a wound too because of the cavity that it that around it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, what's cool is like I like True It was there and he learned how to do it. Like, so True knows how to do that stuff. That's good.

SPEAKER_05

And so I was like, Yeah, I mean my friend and I were talking about this because my friend has a company, Scoggins, if you're listening, plugged to your company, um, where he teaches, I don't know, worst friend ever, but he he teaches combat life saving and things like that. And it's like it's it sucks that it's a thing, but you're you're it like there's money to be made now off of teaching people that stuff, but it it's important that they know, you know what I mean? Businesses, schools. Like it's it's good that Shrewett knows that because God forbid something were to happen like Shruit.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we're at the gun range and I take a bullet to the leg. That's true. Dude, I need you to do this. Yeah, it doesn't even have to be something as severe as like a smooth gun. But like yeah, accidents happen.

SPEAKER_05

And to have a little a little one know that kind of stuff is important because you may not be able to. You know, he's gonna look to you for for safety, but in one of those instances, it could save your life.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, so well, like things that like I would add personally, just not really having much of a background, but enough I guess knowledge to this is what I would add personally. This is what I I've seen. So like on mine, I'd put paracord, like those ropes of paracord. Oh, yeah. Um because you can mention that you can makeshift anything with uh you know a sling for a broken arm. Exactly. Um, you could makeshift a tourniquet if you had to with it, you know, some sticks and stuff. Um also a sharpie pen. Cause I think most tourniquets have a spot where you can you can write the time time you put it on and all that stuff. Um some don't, so I put tape in mine. So you can put a piece of tape on it to put the tournique.

SPEAKER_05

That's what we end up having in the case.

SPEAKER_04

Well, there's different there's different schools of thought on that too. Like things with tourniquets have changed over the years, and it it's kind of like CPR. They're like, you put a tourniquet on, they're they always used to say that you're gonna they're gonna lose the limb if they put a tourniquet on. That's that's that's not true. You know. And then they're like, oh, because we've got to get the tourniquet off within such a you know, within an hour or whatever it was, which is why the time thing came into play, but I don't even think they really care about that so much anymore. They still put it on there, but yeah.

SPEAKER_05

And and and on and and what you were saying that, Zane, that it lots change. I mean, I could be off on some of the things that I even talked about or how I talked about them, but what I do know is that I've done it in real life. I actually didn't get to do it in the army. It wasn't until I came to the city and was a cop that I actually got to do combat life saving stuff, you know, wall bullets are going over your head. And it's and it's saved people's lives. I did a chest seal, actually, I mean, technically it was two chest seals on a guy. He survived. And how many tourniquets have we put on his cop saying like a million on real injuries where people are bleeding out? Was it arterial? I don't know, but they were able to get to a hospital in enough time to get it off.

SPEAKER_04

I still remember we're driving code to a to a GSW and I'm driving and I'm like telling my rookie, I'm like, Do you have gloves? And he's like, Yeah, and I'm like, put them on now. We got their rollout, and he's like, I think it was his like second day with me, and he's over here gloves on, holding the wound go wound. He's like, Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah. And then like with the chest seals, like most people haven't trained, like I haven't done any of training on them, but I've I've seen videos and stuff like that. You know, what you know, clearing the wound so that so it'll stick. They make one now that I think Sam uh the the brand SAM, uh, they make one that is like you don't have to wipe anything, like it doesn't come with the gauze or anything. So you just open it and stick it, like it's so sticky that it'll just be like I had some in the military that was like that.

SPEAKER_05

But the cool thing is, and that that's what I want to cover down the road, is that you don't have to have all that fancy equipment. You know what I mean? Like if you have a wrapper from a from food, you can use that and tape. So yeah, I'm excited where this is where this leads.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. And I put ammonia salts in mine, the smelling salts. Oh yeah. Um I like to smell them. Yeah, but that's not even medical, that's just because he likes the smell. I like the smell of the I like the taste. I like to do it for the taste. Um but yeah, that like you said, they don't have OTC OCT OTC stuff, like pills and ibuprofen. Oh, it's like all that stuff. OCD. And then, you know, EpiPen, like I like and that's the reason I mentioned it before, you know, being out in the oil field and you know, getting stuck by a bee, finding out out there that you're allergic is gonna suck.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, that's bad news for sure. Bees?

SPEAKER_03

Bees? Or anything else, really like you know, like you said, like scorpions or spiders.

SPEAKER_05

I remember being in the army and my buddy woke up with a tranchula on his chest, and I was like, I'm not sleeping on the ground anymore. Yeah. So there's that.

SPEAKER_04

They do like the warmth. What do we got, Next Z? Next up, we got a big reveal.

SPEAKER_03

Big reveal. Big reveal. I think today for our big reveal, we're gonna do the new Spider-Man movie. I'm so glad that trailer came out.

SPEAKER_04

I've literally been waiting for it. And what's it called? Brand new day. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Spider-Man brand new day. The Tom Holland series. I thought the last one with all three Spider-Man was like I still watch.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Yeah. You can't have a multi-spider-man movie and not do that meme.

SPEAKER_03

Especially, yeah, especially as that is my that's still like one of my favorite Marvel, I guess, Sony. But you know what I'm saying? One of my favorite Spider-Man movies, like, because I mean I love we grew up on like the the Toby uh Toby McGuire Spider-Man. Yep.

SPEAKER_04

And then I thought I think each one in its own each each Toby McGuire Spider-Man, they had, you know, there's different the amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Man, like they had different comic series. Because like in one series he had Mary Jane, and another series he had Gwen Stacy, you know. And so it just makes sense, like that even in the comics, there was different iterations, you know.

SPEAKER_05

And I feel like it's it was a good full circle moment because we were all upset. Like the first two Spider-Man movies with top with Toby McGuire, awesome. The third one was could have been, but it just started it kind of went off the rails with that, and now it's like like meme worthy of him dancing down the street and they just didn't think it was a bad casting, I think, for Venom.

SPEAKER_03

Like it just I don't think Topher Grace was a good Venom. No.

SPEAKER_05

Um, and then and then I thought that the Andrew Garfield ones were you know a little more dramatic, a little more serious. Yeah. Again, it shows how he developed the suit, how he did all that stuff. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

And I did like that he actually had the web devices versus it coming out of his skin. Right. But it it's funny that they talked about that in the other one. Like, so it just comes out of your skin. He's like, Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. They really did a good job of Easter eggs.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Or having Easter eggs, but but without much further ado, let's get it going. Let's watch this bad boy.

SPEAKER_01

I can't believe our first hit MIT! MJ, come on. Pretend like you're not the happiest you've ever been in your entire life. I can't. I knew it.

SPEAKER_05

It looks pretty. Yeah, everybody's forgotten about him. Yeah. Oh, that's right. That's I like that. That's awesome.

SPEAKER_00

The mask you can see and yeah, just like they did with Tom. Hi, my name is Peter Parker. You don't remember me, but we used to know each other. Something bad was gonna happen, and the only way to stop it was to make everyone forget about me. Because I'm not just Peter Parker. I'm Spider-Man.

SPEAKER_05

Yep. Frank Castle. Yep, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Favorite Marvel character of all time.

SPEAKER_00

Sometimes Spider-Man has to do the hard thing, even if it breaks people.

SPEAKER_05

I was wondering if they were gonna be in it. Mary Jane and Yeah, that is happening.

SPEAKER_04

Because they had they had uh Daredevil. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

I wonder if he's gonna develop web from his speed, Dr. Batman's wrist.

SPEAKER_04

I need your help. What did you say in this one? Or maybe Madame Web caught him.

SPEAKER_02

15 days mutating. That'd be enormously dangerous. Oh well. Okay. Spider-Dias have three lifestyles.

SPEAKER_05

I feel like it's gonna be like that. That human spider between the spider vulnerable to the threat.

SPEAKER_03

We are faced with a danger that we can't control.

SPEAKER_02

What we can't even see is supposedly for those spiders who make it through.

SPEAKER_05

That's a comic book. That's a comic button. That's a comic book. See with his eyes changing colors, dude. That's a spider-fan.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, they're uh housewarming. I'm uh MJ. I'm just a neighbor from across the hall. Friendly neighbor. That's awesome.

SPEAKER_04

The friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. But yeah, I was gonna mention like his genes are mutating, so it's like the human spider. There's actually a comic series where he's it's he turns into like this freaky spider-looking thing. Did you guys ever watch the 90s cartoon? Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Do you remember when they did that? Where he started he started mutating and he worked a lot with Dr. Connors to try and like undo that.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, didn't wasn't that when he was going to talk to Madame Webb all the time about him mutating?

SPEAKER_05

I think so, yeah. Because he would, it would, it would come in and out, it wouldn't happen all the time, but he would basically have it like grow four extra arms and like start turning into a s like this mutant spider creature. Um Sadie Sink is in it from Stranger Things. Uh-huh. She supposedly is I've heard her that she's playing Gwen. I've heard that she's playing um um oh my gosh. From the X-Men. Gene Gray. Oh, yeah. Like a new version of Gene Gray.

SPEAKER_04

I love that Punisher's in it. Yeah. John Burnthal. Yeah. John Bernthal, I just he's not my favorite Punisher. And Holmes. Oh, you gotta say it.

SPEAKER_05

You liked uh Tom Jane. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Tom Jane is the Punisher, man.

SPEAKER_05

Do you remember when he made that solo video, Zane? To lobby to play them, to play him again. Yeah. I thought that was pretty cool.

SPEAKER_04

Like it's just he's more like I like John Bernthal. He's a he's a good actor, but he's just I think he's too over the top for Punisher. Yeah. You know, I just Tom Jane's Punisher, where he's just like the subtle badass. Yeah. You know, and that's just but his background is, you know, well, at least in that one, he was I think he was supposed to be a seal. I don't know what Punisher's true background in the comics is. Yeah, I know it's military, but he's digging it's a while.

SPEAKER_05

But in that one it was a seal, which they're supposed they're supposed to be silent professionals, you know, and so just he just is that every every series of Spider-Man they've talked about leading to a Sinister Six, but they never do it. Yeah. This one has that we know for sure has Tombstone, Scorpion, uh, that that street gang. The hand, I think. Foot clan? No. You're fighting.

SPEAKER_04

No, it is the hand, because remember that's why they were in Daredevil also in the Marvel series that they had on Netflix. Who else was in there? Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

I've already lost track.

SPEAKER_04

It was because isn't that who the iron fist didn't he fight the hand? I think so.

SPEAKER_05

But yeah, I I think I I think they need to pull the trigger on uh and in fact, I don't know if you guys remember. I don't know. Because people were saying that that guy wasn't gonna play him anymore, but then he's in the Daredevil series, the the new one. Was it called Re Rebirth or Reborn or something like that?

SPEAKER_04

Oh, they brought him they brought him back again.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, he's like the main he's like the main villain against Daredevil, and they brought back uh I I think Iron Fist and J Jessica Jessica Jones and like all those characters. But anyway, I think they need to do I think they you know they keep teasing it in every series with Andrew Garfield, they they tease it. It was like a post-credit scene. Yeah. And then they never did it. And I just think it's a missed opportunity.

SPEAKER_03

I mean I'm I'm curious to see because we we saw at the end of um what's the last one with all three Spider-Man?

SPEAKER_05

Uh No Way Home. No way Home. No Way Home or Far from Home. No way Home. No, Far From Home is when he's in Europe.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, No Way Home. They tease, you know, Venom being in it. Um also I wonder if Miles Morales is gonna make an appearance.

SPEAKER_05

They've talked about that because I think I think uh like outside the movie, he's he's kind of wanting to like back off, like start backing off a little bit more and let somebody else take the reins. And if you think about it, think about all the new there's there's not it's not Iron Man anymore, it's Iron Heart. They've got a new Hawkeye, they've got like they've got a newer generation, and they've they've teased in in all the movies, they've teased uh Miles Morales.

SPEAKER_03

I hope they do. That'd be that'd be awesome.

SPEAKER_05

Because I don't know if you guys have seen the animated one. I think it's awesome. Oh yeah, and and Nelly and I are super excited for the third one to come out. I think next and to watch those.

SPEAKER_04

I haven't seen the animated ones. Really? The yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

That'll be a big reveal in itself, Zane, because I think you're gonna like them. They're very, very well. Like the animation is really cool, yeah, but the story is very well done. Yeah, so definitely check that out. And because I think the next the third last and last one comes out next year.

SPEAKER_03

And this is a total rabbit trail, but you said like watching the animated. I don't know if y'all watch it and y'all know how much of like a big Lord of the Rings. Have y'all watched the animated Lord of the Rings? Oh god, here we go with Batman again. No, bro, that's actually really good. Has that what's an OS? HBO is what I watched it on. Is it old? No, it's it's fairly new. It's it's like the last couple years or so. Huh. War of the Rohirum. But anyways, sorry.

SPEAKER_05

Let me ask let me ask Zayn's question. Does it have any of the normal or the original voice actors?

SPEAKER_03

Yes, it does.

SPEAKER_05

Okay. There you go, Zayn. You can watch it. All of them or just some? Just some of them.

SPEAKER_04

Wow. What lame? Only some, Nick.

SPEAKER_03

I think the dude who does Gimli's voice is in it. Uh John Rus Davies, um, Miranda Otto. She's like, she fills in for like, she's like the narrator. Uh-huh. The lady who plays Eowyn.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Um, so there's some some other stuff in it, but don't go down the rabbit hole.

SPEAKER_04

Say that again. The lady who plays who?

SPEAKER_03

Aowyn. Uh oh, from from uh She's the Rohirrim. Rohiram, yeah. Okay, or she is the narration, which I thought was better than doing Galadriel for sure.

SPEAKER_05

But before we go too far down the rabbit hole, this movie comes out July 31st of this year. Oh. So not much longer.

SPEAKER_03

Out of the studio in another OCD out of theater.

SPEAKER_05

We're just like That's illegal.

unknown

We're at the movie theater.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, not if we only show us. We don't have to show the movie.

SPEAKER_05

We'll do we'll do like uh because he's in the movie, we'll do the what uh oh my god, the guy who plays Hulk. John or Mark Ruffalo Mark Ruffalo, yeah. We'll do like what he did accidentally go Facebook Live at the premiere of the movie, and everyone's calling him like dude, turn your phone off. You're literally playing the movie. What? Oh no. Yeah, exactly. But anyway, I'm excited for that to come out. I'm glad we watched the trailer. Zane, you've got some things to watch, apparently. Yeah. You know what?

SPEAKER_03

I haven't watched the Punishers either.

SPEAKER_04

I think there was only the one season. Yeah. Uh yeah, I should be able to show way behind. I don't think I've seen any of the Daredevil stuff. I watched all the Marvel ones. Yeah. Or all the Marvel ones that run Netflix. I watched that.

SPEAKER_03

That's kind of like the thing that I I've like the big bug I had with a lot of the Marvel there for a while. Like you had to watch these 10 series to be caught up with the next movie. It's like I don't want to. You don't have to, but it helps you. It definitely helps. Yeah, that's what I was saying.

SPEAKER_04

You can just watch movie to movie, but that's I mean, and that's the cool thing that they've been doing with it is the fact that them having to be be able to do shows and movies, because it gives you something to watch in between movies, you know. Like I like I said, like I get it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Because you know, fans want that it's like it's like, you know, it is for the next like I think it was between the the Avengers endgame and the next thing. I forget what it was, but it's like they had like the Loki series, they had um Hawkeye.

SPEAKER_05

If you haven't seen, is actually really good.

SPEAKER_03

They had the the next the new Captain Marvel, the uh Captain Marvel, Captain America stuff going on. Oh, yeah. Or the winter soldier or whatever Captain America.

SPEAKER_04

Secret War, they did Secret Wars. I never watched that. No, Secret Invasion, sorry.

SPEAKER_03

Secret Invasion. I was like, man, I can't I can't keep up with all that. I'm sorry. Yeah, it's a lot.

SPEAKER_04

So it was Lord of the Rings, you would.

SPEAKER_03

Um yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Dang say you wouldn't. You got you there. You would.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, I haven't watched War of the War Here until this was literally last night I watched this.

SPEAKER_04

Well, I mean, so did you know it was out and you just watched it? I knew it was out. I just never watched it. Wow. Wow. You're not even a real Lord of the Rings fan.

SPEAKER_03

Well, it's kind of like a not really a tokens thing. It's kind of someone that's based on token stuff, but it's not one of his books or anything like that.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, Cinnamon gone for a while, Jordan.

SPEAKER_03

So but it's like they could have made like the Summerillion, they could have made the Fall of Gondolin, they could have done a whole bunch of different movies. You know, they they tried to do the series. What a the series sucked. I watched the first 15 15 minutes of the first episode, and I was like, this is trash. It's horrible.

SPEAKER_04

I like the show on Amazon.

SPEAKER_03

Like visually and like power. Like uh yeah, the Rings of Power. Visually it was good. I thought it was like well made. But as far as like Tolkien's story, I thought it was way too off. Like even Peter Jackson's story was it was off a little bit, but it was enough to keep keep people interested and like stuff like that. Yeah. But I think Rings of Power just it strayed way too far from Tolkien's writings. Gotcha.

SPEAKER_05

Well, now that we've completely gone off the rails and had another Batman moment.

SPEAKER_04

Nah, it wouldn't it wasn't too far off. We went away left. Batman was way We went away left.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, you guys are lucky that new Batman stuff isn't coming out yet. Actually, I I take that back. They're working on a new video game. But anyway, I digress. We're gonna get we're getting into the next segment. Third string just happens to be third, and we're gonna be getting into deep into March Madness. So strap in.

SPEAKER_03

So if you don't mind, I'll I want to start this one, Nick.

SPEAKER_05

I knew you'd be I knew you'd be excited, Jordan.

SPEAKER_03

Just because I have the least. I mean, we can do my pick too. Jordan's pick! My Jordan's pick. I think we were kind of talking about it before a little bit, Nick. Uh like you're your top four that you made, you know, your bracket. That's like the only teams that I know. Which is funny. Um so I mean I'm I'm pretty excited, but I think so it's it's Duke in Michigan is who you had. I think that's who I would pick too if I had to if I had to look at it.

SPEAKER_05

In uh in the championship game.

SPEAKER_03

Um but yeah, like just because that's really Duke's only name that I know, that's probably who I'd pick. So Jordan's pick. Duke. Duke. Write it down. Blue Devils.

SPEAKER_05

I'm excited to see if Jordan can go. Is it 3-0 or 4-0?

SPEAKER_03

I'd be 3-0. That'd be gnarly. Yeah. I mean if he's not 3-0, I send it back. Maybe 2.5 and I know. Maybe at the same either Duke or Michigan, right? How many how many teams start? Like how many? 32? 32? Yeah. Right?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. So much can go wrong. Because there's 16 on each side. Or is it 64?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I think it's 64.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, okay, all right. 64. I was like, it's not a smaller number than 32. It's gotta be a bigger number. Yeah, that's crazy.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So so much can go wrong where Duke in Michigan could even be.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, dude, it's crazy. Like when you see people that get like trying to win the big money from their bracket, it is 32? Yes, sir. Oh, crazy. You're so smart. I just I've done brackets. I don't know how many. I think this is the first year I haven't done a bracket, and I'll probably pick go ahead and do one later today.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. We just do one with my family. I I picked, I did want to cover a couple of because I think it's fun, you know. I mean, everybody jumps in and they bet money and they do all this stuff, but people, you know, some people that either know about sports or don't know about sports, they pick the best teams to make it, which I'm not gonna lie, I did pick the all the top top teams to make it to the final four. I picked Duke, Florida, Arizona, and Michigan all to make it to the final four, with Duke playing um Michigan and winning.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, majority of the time that's that's gonna get you get you the right result, but you do have those Cinderella stories.

SPEAKER_05

And I did pick a couple of teams that are is gonna piss some people off, especially some of my family members. I picked uh U. USF over Louisville, Jordan. If you don't know where that is, it's the University of Southern Florida. I picked up It's in Southern Florida.

SPEAKER_03

Where's Florida? Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Your shirt says that you should know exactly where Florida is. Um I picked UCF over UCLA. Uh UCF is Central Florida. Thanks. I picked Missouri over Miami, Florida.

SPEAKER_03

Where's that?

SPEAKER_05

I picked St. Louis over Georgia. Detroit and there and the And then my this one's gonna piss my brothers off because they both go to UW and Madison. I did pick high point over Wisconsin. No idea where High Point is.

SPEAKER_04

Are the are the who-hoo-hoosers on there?

SPEAKER_05

No, they're not even in the bracket.

SPEAKER_04

What? They said, you know what, we won football, we're not a basketball school anymore.

SPEAKER_05

Basketball teams gotta suck now. They sent it all in, they put it all in one place. Yeah, they put all their eggs in one basket, Zayn. Their coach talked so much crap and then they won that.

SPEAKER_04

Google him.

SPEAKER_05

They had to, yeah. Don't even get me started on that. But yeah, I the SIG. I it's funny, it's it's good and bad because I I love watching March Madness, but it's like I have to do a boatload of research before I fill out my bracket. My dad always gets mad because it takes me forever to finally get my picks in. Because I don't watch back like even if you look online, like basketball, like NBA um attendance has gone like wildly down. Yeah. And so it's March Madness kind of makes that excitement. I I I'll turn it on for background noise, um, March Madness, but I usually don't watch basketball other than that. I have started watching basketball a little bit more because Elliot played, but it's it's like if it wasn't for March Madness, I probably would never watch basketball.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I think I'm the same way.

SPEAKER_05

Like when I was a kid growing up, I was like hardcore watching the Bulls play, but it was during the Jordan era.

SPEAKER_03

So it was kind of I think that's probably the same. Like, that's all I watched basketball. Remember growing up was watching you know Michael Jordan play.

SPEAKER_05

Now we've got the new Jordan era.

SPEAKER_03

We got the new Jordan era that's weak. And then like yeah, March Madness. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_03

Well, actually that's still all I watch, is I don't watch any like I mean some of the championships for like NBA I'd watch, but it'd be it's very rare.

SPEAKER_05

Sure as heck watched the uh Olympics. Watch the Olympics. I know you watch curling and and ski mountaineering pretty closely. The lose. We um I I mean I watch obviously, I mean, obviously, college football is it for me. I watch the crap out of college football. I'll watch other teams. I've I've started paying attention to NFL more because of like it's cool how these little games actually get you to. I did I started doing fantasy football several years ago. Now I actually watch and pay attention to to NFL.

SPEAKER_03

But yeah, I still don't watch NFL. I'm not big into it.

SPEAKER_05

We've got we've got Jordan's picks. I put out my picks. Zane, who you got? Um just had to venture a guess. I know you haven't really looked, but Oregon. And we're not gonna we're not gonna eat.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, but Skoducks anyway. So um do they even have a basketball team? Yeah, you know, they also provide the clothing for every other basketball team, Nike and Jordan. You know, it's it's fine. You're welcome, everybody else. Yeah. For for us providing you with the greatest stuff ever.

SPEAKER_05

Um, no, but if it wasn't for Michael Jordan, nobody would even care about Nike, so it's fine.

SPEAKER_04

Uh that's I don't think that's true, but it's but it's okay. Uh my pick, you know, I I'm gonna probably have to go with the route Jordan went just because Duke's that's pretty much what one of the things they're known for is their basketball. So yeah. I'm gonna go with Duke. The Duke Blue Devils, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Even the Coach K list Duke Blue Devils.

SPEAKER_04

That's true. But I I mean they just it's kind of like you know, that's their their legacy. It's kind of it you know, if you imagine if it'd be different, I think, if you had like Duke, North Carolina, and trying to think of some other I guess. Louisville? No, Louisville, but trying to think or Kansas. Kansas is a lot of big time basketball school that's in there a lot, has been in there a lot. Oh the Jayhawks? Kentucky. You know.

SPEAKER_05

Side question. I remember this from social studies. How do you pronounce the capital of Kentucky? Is it Louisville or Louisville?

SPEAKER_04

Louisville. I've already always heard it Louisville. I've never heard anybody say it. Jokes on both of you, it's Frankfurt. Oh. You know what I do? I remember people joking about that. Social studies plug. Who's your social studies teacher?

SPEAKER_05

Oh gosh. I don't even remember. It was in Ohio and it was a long time ago.

SPEAKER_04
